• Trivia One of a handful of smallish budget films made by Affirm Films that Sony Pictures distributed that have strong Christian or moral themes. Although Sony knew that none of them were going to be blockbuster hits, they also recognized that they would tap into an element of Western society that would help promote the film within their sphere of influence and gain a loyal audience as well as encourage discussion. Sony Pictures’ Affirm Films and Monarch Media have announced Journey to Bethlehem, a musical take on the Nativity. The film will be releasing in US theatres on November 10th and UK cinemas on November 17th .

Journey to Bethlehem is a fun, entertaining, hope filled musical based on the birth of Jesus, that captures the essence and truth of Christmas. This is a must see film and is not to be missed. Fiona Palomo (Outer Banks, Control Z) and Milo Manheim (Disney’s ZOMBIES series, Prom Pact, School Spirits) are set to star as ‘Mary’ and ‘Joseph’, along with Academy Award nominee Antonio Banderas (PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH, upcoming INDIANA JONES AND THE DIAL OF DESTINY) as ‘King Herod’ in the JOURNEY TO BETHLEHEM currently in production from AFFIRM Films, a Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) company and Monarch Media. Principal photography is underway on the coast of Spain for this epic musical movie sharing the Christmas story in a fresh, inspiring, and entertaining way. Award-winning music producer Adam Anders (Glee, High School Musical, Descendants, The Passion) in his feature directorial debut wrote the script along with Peter Barsocchini (High School Musical franchise) and wrote the music with Nikki Anders (Glee, High School Musical, Descendants) and Peer Astrom (ROCK OF AGES, Glee, High School Musical, Descendants).

Sony Pictures has slated the musical for a wide theatrical release this coming November 10th in the US and November 17th in the UK .

Sony’s JOURNEY TO BETHLEHEM Sets Netflix Streaming Premiere Date

Sony Pictures and Affirm Films’ biblical musical JOURNEY TO BETHLEHEM is set to make its SVOD debut next month, arriving on Netflix on February 8th, 2024 . The film premiered in US theaters on November 10th, 2023. It was made available on PVOD on December 8th.

Journey to Bethlehem  was directed by Adam Anders in his feature-length directorial debut, and written by Anders and Peter Barsocchini. This live-action Christmas musical celebration for the entire family, weaves classic Christmas melodies in to new pop songs in a music-infused retelling of the timeless story of Mary and Joseph and the birth of Jesus. The film stars Milo Manheim and Fiona Palomo as Joseph and Mary, with Antonio Banderas as King Herod.
