Journey Announce Huge 2023 North American Tour With Toto

Journey and Toto had such a great time touring together in 2022, they're going to do it together again in 2023. The two legendary rock bands will share the stage on the continuation of Journey's 50th anniversary "Freedom Tour."

The new batch of dates start Feb. 4 in Allentown, Pa., keeping the bands on the road through the April 25 finale in Palm Springs, Calif. You can see all of the dates, cities and venues listed below. It should also be noted that a handful of shows are ones that have been rescheduled from earlier this year when the band had to postpone dates due to COVID-19.

Journey guitarist Neal Schon says, "We are all thankful and overwhelmed by the success of our Journey 'Freedom Tour 2022' this year and have added a new run of dates for 2023. We are looking forward to hitting the road again with our very good friends Toto! Come join us for a special evening full of fun and rockin' good memories. See you soon, friends."

Keyboardist Jonathan Cain adds, "Excited to perform for our fans as we tour next year with Toto. The combined hits of both bands represent a couple of decades of excellence that have become a soundtrack for people's lives. The music of Journey along with the music of Toto is an example of 'certain music' during 'uncertain times.'"

Meanwhile, Toto guitarist Steve Lukather chips in, "'On behalf of myself and the band, we are very honored and excited to do this tour with our old and dear friends Journey. Gonna be a great night of music, and as all the guys are lifelong friends... a blast off stage as well."

Tickets are expected to go on sale this Friday (Oct. 21) at 10AM local time. Stay tuned to each band's websites for additional ticketing info.

Formed in Van Nuys, Greater Los Angeles, USA, Toto are a critically acclaimed, six piece rock band known for their eclectic blend of influences to create a unique style of music.

Toto started life in 1977, when a group of session musicians decided to form their own band to play original music of their own. The lineup has changed over the years but currently the band features Steve Lukather on guitar and vocals, Joseph Williams as lead vocalist, David Paich on keyboards and vocals, Steve Porcaro on keyboards, Keith Carlock on drums and bass player David Hungate replacing Mike Porcaro due to illness.

Toto's anthemic arena rock has been pleasing fans worldwide for over three decades, with the band releasing a total of 17 albums and selling over 35 million records. Their 1982 album "Toto IV" became their most commercially successful release, featuring the top five hits "Hold The Line," "Rosanna" and perhaps their best known song "Africa." The main keyboard riff of "Africa" is instantly recognisable and is a classic song of the 80s. What makes Toto's music so successful is their wide-ranging influences, incorporating world rhythms, progressive rock, soul and jazz into their melting pot. "Toto IV" earned the band seven Grammy Awards, which included Record of the Year for "Rosanna," as well as Album of the Year and Producer of the Year for the record.

Toto continued to have a prolific output yet did not achieve the same levee of success as with "Toto IV." In 2002, to celebrate their 25th anniversary, the band released "Through the Looking Glass", an album of covers that was a tribute to the music that influenced the band, featuring covers of songs by Bob Marley, Steely Dan and George Harrison. The band struggled with lineup changes throughout the later stage of their career. In 2008, following David Paich's retirement and Mike Porcaro's illness, Steve Lukather called an end to Toto, citing the loss of many of the original members as reasons for this. But in 2010, in order to raise money to support Porcaro through his medical costs, the band reunited for several further tours and also talk of a new album in the works.

Toto were one of the most successful bands of the 80s and their music continues to define the sound of the decade. In 2009, the band were inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame in 2009, cementing their reputation.

Live reviews

Toto are masters at blending diverse genres together to create a sound that is all of their own. They have combined the diverse genres of soul, funk, pop, rock, jazz, and progressive rock into their sound that allows them to produce large atmospheric sounds that will grab the audience’s attention. Toto can hit you in the face with a fierce hard rock guitar riff and then they can send you into a trance of other worldly sounds with the shimmering music of the synthesizers that the band produces. Their bass player has the ability to get deep warm tones from his bass guitar that drives the rhythm of most of the songs, and the piano player will also play organ effects on his synthesizers to get a real meaty and funky sound to enhance the music. Toto tours with many band members that play different instruments, but they are all well versed at playing in time to create a richly ornate quality to their music. Toto’s band consists of background singers that often perform call and response melodies with the lead singer to produce a soulful sound to their music. The band plays a diverse setlist when touring that includes most of their hits. They will play the hard-rock tune “Hold the Line” that will get the audience rocking out to the music, and then they will play the more foreign, ethereal sounding tune “Africa” that has lush synth sounds that will make you think that you are in the safari’s of Africa. The band has been a commercial and critical success already having been inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum as well as having won numerous Grammy Awards.

While at a Toto concert you will be in awe of the diverse performance styles that the band conveys. Each member is a master on their instrument and to see them play with such precision together, creating such amazing sounds is an inspirational sensation.

Toto, the American rock six-piece formed almost forty years ago yet continue to wow crowds with their abilities to merge numerous genres into slick sounding alt-pop. Known to incorporate pop, rock, soul, funk, progressive rock and jazz into their music, the set up is notably detailed with a whole variety of session musicians drafted in to support the main band.

As the opening notes of 'Child's Anthem' fill the room, the crowd cheers as the veteran act takes it place. They did not achieve as greater commercial success in the UK as in their homeland yet the British audiences are receptive to their musicianship and the handful of tracks that did make the chart such as 'Rosanna' and 'Stop Loving You' receive big cheers from the crowds.

A brilliant cover of Michael Jackson's 'Human Nature' gets the crowd enthusiastically clapping and cheering along. Followed up by their biggest international hit 'Africa' of course receives huge bellows and cheers from the whole room. Enthusiasm appears to be in this band's American blood and as they wrap up with 'Home of The Brave' they seem incredibly happy with the show.

I have seen a lot of amazing musical groups over the years. Pat Metheny, Chick Corea, Journey, Rush, Allan Holdsworth, Maynard Ferguson and so many others, but watching and listening to TOTO on their 35th year anniversary was over the top. I remember watching them in 1984 with a very rare meet and greet with Jeff Porcaro and thought wow these guys are good. Then over the years with I have seen them a dozen times or so and they just get better and better. Simon is so tight with his groves, both David and Steve P. nailing the keyboard parts is just awesome. Steve L. just brings it on every show but my wife and I were amazed at Joseph Williams. Damn that guy can sing! Not to mention that Amy Keys added to the whole experience. However, we will never forget meeting and speaking with each one of these amazing men. Even though I am a professional it was hard to come face to face with those who truly shaped the American music scene. It was just a great experience and true honor. We can hardly wait for their next album and performances.

I saw them in Dublin 5th April and paid for the VIP-experience as well. The guys weren`t in the best form, but it was amazing seeing them doing their soundcheck, Joseph Williams was chatting to the more curious fans - we were just standing there mesmerized..We got our photos taken with the band, our music sheet signed, got a keyring then we got escorted to the bar, and got back in before the rest of the crowd was let in, so in a way we all paid for having a spot in the front rows too..

They were brilliant! This was the end of the tour, so at some point you could see they`re only human and are tired, but they offered an exceptional music experience to us all! I can`t remember any other band playing this good live; yes, they did get older of course, but they are still masters of their instruments and the new band members fit in perfectly with them!

I could go on praising them, but I won`t.

They were amazing and that is that!!!

This was an absolutely AWESOME show by TOTO! In 40 years TOTO has only aged visibly; however, TOTO's music has evolved into the 21st century! TOTO not only entertained the audience at THE WARNER THEATRE with Its old hits and new compositions, TOTO wowed the audience with lead guitar solos that would have granted a nod from Eric Clapton, Steve Howe, and from the great Jimmy Hendrix, if he were still with Us. Also, TOTO made certain to include the audience of THE WARNER THEATRE in Its music performace by ordering Us on Our feet to sing & dance! In addition, TOTO gave Us a music history lesson by telling the audience who wrote the music score for the 1970's hit movie, JAWS and who wrote one of Michael Jackson's hit songs! Finally, a new member of TOTO, Xavier, a PRINCE rollover, wowed the audience with a classical music solo ... . Hopefully TOTO will keep Us entertained, in the future, with "50 Trips Around The Sun"!

I attended ToTo's "40 Trips Around The Sun" concert on Monday and was absolutely blown away by the amazing talent of this band. The band played a mix of songs, that they don't usually perform in concert, which included songs from their earlier work, as well as some fan favorites. The guys were on fire, full of energy and always entertaining the audience with their humor and enthusiasm. Loved it when the audience was encouraged to join in on some of the old favorites and when band members Steve Lukather, Joe Williams and Steve Porcaro sat down and reminisced about how certain songs came about and the stories behind their 40 plus year friendships.I would highly recommend seeing this fabulous band and I'm already looking forward to seeing them again!

This show was for true TOTO fans, many of whom have followed the band, as I have, since 1978 and were therefore made to feel part of the Forty Tours Around The Sun. Not only did the band play their most famous hits, they also did a semi-acoustic set in interview style to talk about how everything had started and played rarities from their 40 year history. I have seen TOTO many times but, with the addition of sax, harmonica and a new bassist/backing vocalist of world class, they sounded new and fresh! Like everyone else in the audience, my friend and I sang all the words and harmonies for every song! Simply the best TOTO show ever !!

Unfortunately the Scandinavian Congress Center in Århus, Denmark, did not give any justice for the amazing TOTO.

We stood on the floor during the whole concert and couldn't sene any of TOTO's members at all.

The sound dit NOT lave any space for the vokalists.. The bass-Sound was way too loud. I am very disappointed by the congresscenter, Where the concert took place..

Next time TOTO comes to Denmark we will look very much forward to se you amazing guys in Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning, Jutland, Denmark.

In Jyske Bank Boxen the sound is much, much better and the artists can be seen from any of the seats..

The premises of Hamburg's 'Mehr! Theater am Grossmarkt' were not built with an emphasis on music performances. A pity.

Toto did a good job to defend their reputation to be one of the world's most precise team play bands, but I can't stand the short versions of their greatest hits just in order to perform as many hits as possible in the given time frame. The latest two studio albums 'Falling in Between' and 'Toto XIV' were underrepresented although these albums are much more mature and musically challenging than the early ones.

TOTO is one of my favorites. They are pro-fessional musicians and I fell in love with their music back in the 80's. Saw them here in Hawaii when Santana played. My favorite song is "Africa". But I love all their songs, they nail the chords with perfection. I love David Paich, he is supercalafrajalisticexpealadocious! I can't wait to see them perform here in Hawaii again. It's been a long 12 years ago. I rip waves whiles listening to their songs in my head surfing. Mahalo for letting me share my heart out to TOTO!

TOTO Announces 2024 Touring Lineup

Steve Lukather and Joseph Williams have announced TOTO 's band lineup for 2024 and beyond. Returning to the fold are Greg Phillinganes on keyboards and vocals alongside Shannon Forrest on drums. They join Lukather (guitar, vocals), Williams (vocals), John Pierce (bass), Warren Ham (horns, percussion, vocals) and Steve Maggiora (keyboards, vocals).

The band will stage 44 appearances across North America beginning on February 9 at Biloxi's Mississippi Coast Coliseum. The itinerary features 30 appearances as support for JOURNEY in arenas across The United States and Canada, with an additional 14 headline performances planned. A tour of Europe follows this summer. Additional performances will be announced in the coming weeks, with a run of the U.K. and plans to visit other continents in motion now.

Formed in 1977 by premier Los Angeles session musicians, TOTO scored a Top 5 hit in 1978, "Hold The Line" . 1982's "Toto IV" album landed TOTO three Top 10 hits — "Rosanna" , "Africa" and "I Won't Hold You Back" — as well as three Grammy Awards .

Several years ago, Susan Porcaro-Goings , the widow of TOTO 's founding drummer Jeff Porcaro , filed a lawsuit seeking to recover royalties and other income she believed had not been paid to Porcaro 's estate. The suit was settled in favor of Porcaro-Goings .

Over the past decade, TOTO has had a major renaissance in popularity like few bands at this point in their career. No individual statistic exhibits this more than achieving the milestone of over 3.4 billion streams at Spotify alone. The total plays of the band's collected works across all platforms is now approaching five billion. Among the most listened-to recordings, "Africa" accounts for over one billion streams at Spotify alone. The song was certified eight times platinum by the RIAA .

"Africa" was featured in the debut episode of "Stranger Things" and episodes of "South Park" and "Family Guy" .

Individually and collectively, TOTO 's family tree can be heard on an astonishing 5,000 albums that together amass a sales history of a half a billion albums. Among these recordings, NARAS applauded the performances with hundreds of Grammy nominations. They are pop culture, and are one of the few 1970s bands that have endured the changing trends and styles while continuing to remain relevant.

Back in 2019, TOTO released a limited-edition box set boasting 17 LPs and 13 CDs. The set included an album titled "Old Is New" , featuring seven previously unreleased songs.

The post Journey Announce 2023 Tour with Toto appeared first on Consequence .

Journey are returning to the road in 2023 for a 38-city North American tour with Toto .

“Freedom Tour 2023” will kick off on February 4th in Allentown, PA, and make subsequent stops in cities including Austin, Montreal, Toronto, Memphis, and Washington, DC. The trek will wrap on April 25th in Palm Springs, California.

Digitally resurrecting actors is still a terrible idea

In the long-running "Alien" movie franchise, the Weyland-Yutani Corporation can’t seem to let go of a terrible idea: It keeps trying to make a profit from xenomorphs -- creatures with acid for blood and a penchant for violently bursting out of human hosts. Sadly, as much as I liked “Alien: Romulus” (and I liked it a lot!), the new sequel (or "interquel") can’t escape a terrible idea of its own: Hollywood’s fixation on using CGI to de-age or resurrect beloved actors. “Alien: Romulus” tries to pull off a similar trick — while it doesn't resurrect the exact same murderous android from the original “Alien,” it features an identical model, seemingly played by the same actor, Ian Holm, who died in 2020.

TOTO: Back together for tour, grateful for new fans

Band touring with journey with show at enmarket arena feb. 8.

By Alan Sculley

Updated February 7, 2023 at 4:25 p.m.

Not long ago – in 2019, to be exact – it looked like Toto’s long and successful run might have really come to an end.

In the time leading up to the split, there were questions about the future involvement of founding member, keyboardist David Paich, and long-time keyboardist Steve Porcaro. Then there was a lawsuit filed by Susan Porcaro-Goings, the widow of drummer and founding member Jeff Porcaro, seeking to recover royalties and other income she believed had not been paid to Porcaro’s estate. The suit created considerable tension between founding guitarist Steve Lukather and Paich and the Porcaro family.

The two sides feuded both publicly and in private, and the anger over the situation was plenty evident in the months leading up to the announcement that Toto was breaking up. The suit was settled in favor of Porcaro-Goings.

Singer Joseph Williams, in a mid-January phone interview, said Toto might have survived without breaking up had the lawsuit not happened, but he suspects the 2019 split was inevitable.

“Aside from the whole legal battle and all of that, Steve Porcaro was inching toward not really wanting to be a touring musician anymore anyway. So that would have come inevitably,” he said. “Also, Dave (Paich) was sort of up and down with his health. Although he’s great now and he’s fine and he still comes out and contributes stuff, touring is not for him anymore, either...But you know, the lawsuit was just sort of salt on a thing that was already happening.”

Williams (who was Toto’s singer from 1986-1989 and 2010 to 2019) and Lukather, meanwhile, saw no reason why they couldn’t form a new lineup and credibly return Toto to active duty.

“Luke (Lukather) and I just looked at each other and said we want to work and we want to play. And the music is still worthy,” Williams said. “We feel we can still do a good job and bring the music out, keep doing it.”

So a reunion was announced in 2020, and after a delay due to the pandemic, Toto returned to touring in 2022, with a mix of headlining dates and a run opening for Journey. The group is continuing down a similar road start 2023, mixing in headlining shows between another run as Journey’s opening act on that band’s winter-spring tour.

The new lineup includes Williams, Lukather (who has also appeared on some 1,500 albums by a who’s who of music artists as one of music’s most in-demand session guitarists), bassist John Pierce, drummer Robert “Sput” Searight, keyboardist/background vocalist Steve Maggiora, keyboardist Dominique “Xavier” Taplin and multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Warren Ham

“You’re going to hear the big hits that everybody knows from Toto and stuff that’s familiar from the more successful albums, that kind of stuff,” Williams said of Toto’s shows. “And it’s very high energy, rock kind of take on it all. So it’s a lot of fun.”

The 2019 split was not the first time Toto had broken up, or at the least, been on uncertain footing.

Toto was formed in 1977 by high school friends Lukather, Jeff Porcaro (already an acclaimed session drummer), Steve Porcaro and Paich, with singer Bobby Kimball and bassist Dave Hungate completing the original lineup.

The group had immediate success, as the 1978 self-titled debut album spawned the hit single, “Hold The Line,” and went on to top two million copies sold in the United States alone.

The string of successful albums extended into the 1980s, with Toto hitting a peak when the 1982 album, “Toto IV,” became a triple platinum smash behind the hits “Rosanna,” “Africa” and “I Won’t Hold You Back.”

It was against the backdrop of that blockbuster success that issues started to blunt the band’s momentum. In 1983, Hungate left Toto (with another Porcaro brother, Mike, taking the bass slot) and the band fired Kimball, who was dealing with drug issues.

The band pressed on, bringing on Fergie Frederiksen as the new singer and making the 1984 album, “Isolation.” The album failed to achieve anything close to the sales of “Toto IV,” and Frederiksen did not work out as the singer.

This is when Williams, who had known the Lukather and the Porcaros going back to his middle school years, auditioned and was chosen as the next singer in Toto. Williams was thrilled to join Toto, although he was aware the group was feeling the weight of expectations at the time.

“There was pressure, but they never applied direct pressure, like if you don’t deliver we’re f***ed,” Williams said. “It was never anything like that with them. But looking back on it, I can certainly remember sort of the tension between the other five guys, just having the blockbuster album and losing a singer and then the follow-up (album) not being as big. They wanted to keep it going and do it right. They experienced a whole lot of pressure at that time.”

Williams made two albums with Toto – 1986’s “Fahrenheit” and 1988’s “The Seventh One,” but on tour the following year, vocal issues forced him to part ways with the band.

As the decade ended, Toto’s popularity had faded, particularly in the states. The band soldiered on through the 1990s into the early 2000s, with sustained popularity in Europe helping keep the band’s career viable. But along the way, the group suffered tragedies (in 1992, Jeff Porcaro died of heart failure while doing yard work, while Mike Porcaro was forced out of music in 2007 by ALS disease) and had multiple personnel changes. In early 2008, Lukather disbanded the group, saying it no longer felt like Toto.

Ironically, it was Mike Porcaro’s ALS illness that initially put Toto back together. In 2010, Paich called Lukather about doing a short reunion tour to raise funds for Mike’s medical treatments. Lukather agreed, but only if Williams and Steve Porcaro also rejoined. Everyone signed on and soon things evolved into a full reunion.

Over the next eight years, the band toured extensively, made a well-received studio album, “Toto XIV,” as well as several live releases, and then got an unexpected boost in 2018 when Weezer covered the band’s signature hit, “Africa.”

“When we play that song (now), everybody’s up, like it’s a soccer game,” Williams said. “So that’s our calling card and we’re grateful to Weezer for doing it and putting it in the ears of a younger generation, and also (to) the fans of Toto from when those songs were actually on the air, their kids are fans of it.”

Despite the renewed momentum, tensions over the lawsuit and between band members led to the 2019 breakup.

With COVID sidelining all live music, Lukather, Williams and Paich each made solo albums, before regrouping the current edition of Toto and returning to touring last year.

Williams is hoping for another long run with Toto. Lukather has ruled out making new albums as Toto, but the singer isn’t closing the door on anything going forward.

“We’ll see how it evolves. I understand how Luke feels just because if there were to really be a Toto album, we’d have to have the participation from particular people,” Williams said. “The way we’ve been doing it is Luke’s putting out a new album that we did last year. Dave put out an album. These sort of mini-Toto albums, you have to sort of throw them all together and get the (Toto) experience that way. It’s understandable, but like I say, never say never. We’re not old, old men yet. We’re just sub-elderly, so there’s plenty of time to change minds and do stuff.”

Toto announces 2024 Touring Lineup

Toto Touring Lineup 2024

The band will stage 44 appearances across North America beginning on February 9 at Biloxi’s Mississippi Coast Coliseum. The itinerary features 30 appearances as support for Journey in arenas across The United States and Canada, with an additional 14 headline performances planned. A tour of Europe follows this Summer. Additional performances will be announced in the coming weeks, with a run of the UK and plans to visit other continents in motion now. Tickets for all appearances are available for purchase here .

Over the past decade, Toto has had a major renaissance in popularity like few bands at this point in their career. No individual statistic exhibits this more than achieving the milestone of over 3.4 billion streams at Spotify alone. The total plays of the band’s collected works across all platforms is now approaching five billion. Amongst the most listened to recordings, “Africa” accounts for over one billion streams at Spotify alone. The song was recertified by the RIAA 8X Platinum.

Individually and collectively, the band’s family tree can be heard on an astonishing 5000 albums that together amass a sales history of a half a billion albums. Amongst these recordings, NARAS applauded the performances with hundreds of Grammy nominations. They are pop culture, and are one of the few 70’s bands that have endured the changing trends and styles while continuing to remain relevant.

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour continued its international journey on Monday night in England (afternoon in the United States) with the seventh of eight total shows in London. Where is hard rock stadium in miami.

Hard Rock Stadium actually is not in Miami. It's at 347 Don Shula Drive Suite 102, Miami Gardens, and will be the site of Taylor Swift’s Florida concert in 2024.

Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.

The last time Swift performed at Hard Rock Stadium was on her 2018 Reputation Tour.

Can I still purchase tickets for the Taylor Swift shows in Florida?

Tickets to all three of the Miami dates for Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” sold out via Ticketmaster  back in September . However, resale tickets are available via  StubHub  and  SeatGeek .

However, beware as a majority of these tickets are sold by scalpers above face value, ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 for seats. For example, one of the cheapest set of tickets on StubHub for Miami's Oct. 18 date is $1,915 per ticket for a "limited, obstructed" view.

Speaking of the Tampa shows, throughout the Eras Tour Swift has performed two songs, usually album deep cuts, not on her setlist at each show. She has brought out collaborators like Aaron Dresner, Jack Antonoff and Marcus Mumford to join her on the stage.

Here are the surprise songs she performed in Tampa:

  • Thursday, April 13: “Speak now” and “Treacherous”
  • Friday, April 14: “You’re on You’re Own Kid” and “The Great War”
  • Saturday, April 15: “Mad Woman” and “Mean”

Who is Taylor Swift headliner Gracie Abrams?

Abrams, 23, is a singer-songwriter from Los Angeles, California, and is the daughter of director J.J. Abrams.

She saw critical acclaim for her first two EPs — “This is What It Feels Like" and "Minor" — as well her 2023 debut album "Good Riddance" and 2024 sophomore album "The Secret of Us." Prior to Swift, she opened up for fellow artist Olivia Rodrigo on her debut Sour tour.

Swift has had an eventful summer. See Vienna cancelations, potential political endorsements

August is seemingly slipping away into a moment in time , especially for Swift. The month has been eventful for the songstress.

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour shows in Vienna were canceled earlier this month following an alleged plot to attack the stadium. Three people were arrested for allegedly planning to attack Taylor Swift’s first concert.

According to officials and news reports, police arrested a 19-year-old Austrian who is accused of planning an attack at Ernst Happel Stadium with “bladed weapons” and the "construction of a bomb." A 17-year-old who would have been working at the stadium during Swift's concert was also arrested and a 15-year-old was questioned by police.

Swift nor her team addresses the cancelations or the alleged attack. She went on to perform her six sold out shows in London a week later.

In other news for the popstar, both U.S. presidential candidates are eying her prized endorsement. After Swift posted to Instagram last fall to remind her followers to vote, a record of more than 30,000 people signed up through Vote.org during National Voter Registration Day. Many of the signups were in Florida, according to USA TODAY.

Some have speculated Swift has shown her support for Vice President Kamala Harris at her concerts, with her fans starting "Swifties for Kamala" events. Former President Donald Trump has also tried to get her fans' attention , posting artificially generated images alluding to her alleged support on his social media platform  Truth Social .

Will Beyoncé and Taylor Swift make a DNC appearance in support of Kamala Harris? What we know

Portrait of Caché McClay

The 2024 Democratic National Convention is poised to be a historic event as Vice President Kamala Harris will be the first Black woman and first Asian American to head a major party ticket. And fans are hoping the world's biggest icons — Beyoncé and Taylor Swift — will make a special appearance.

This year's convention will kick off in Chicago on Monday with vice presidential nominee Minnesota Gov.  Tim Walz making an address on Wednesday and Harris closing out the convention with her acceptance speech Thursday night.

President  Joe Biden , former President Barack Obama and Bill and Hillary Clinton are among the headline speakers . However, for the Beyhive and Swifties, the question remains: Will their favorite artist hit the stage in support of Harris?

While the answer remains uncertain, here's what we know about each singer's political track record and recent moves to help better determine the likelihood of them joining forces in the name of politics next week.

Beyoncé clears 'Freedom' song for VP Harris

It should be noted, Walz has been deemed a certified Beyhive member and Beyoncé's mom, Tina Knowles, has already endorsed Harris as the next U.S. president. Moreover, last summer, Harris attended Beyoncé's Renaissance concert just outside of Washington after the superstar  gifted  her tickets.

Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.

On top of those ties, Beyoncé's camp gave Harris approval to use Beyoncé's 2016 song "Freedom" featuring Kendrick Lamar on Harris' campaign trail. And Harris first used the song when making her first official visit to her campaign headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware — a day after President Joe Biden  dropped out of the 2024 presidential race and endorsed  Harris.

Beyoncé has performed at political events in the past

Harris' usage of "Freedom" is certainly not the first time Beyoncé's used her music to support presidential candidates and on political stages.

In 2009, Beyoncé sang for former President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama as the couple took their first dance in the positions at the Neighborhood Inaugural Ball. Four years later, she famously performed "The Star Spangled Banner" at Barack Obama's 2013 Inauguration ceremony. And in 2016, the superstar and her husband, hip-hop mogul Jay Z, headlined a rally for then-Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in Cleveland, Ohio.

As fans know, the "Ya Ya" singer released her groundbreaking album "Cowboy Carter" March 29. While she is notorious for moving in silence and always having a lot on her plate, at the moment there are no public events that might conflict with the timing of the DNC.

Taylor Swift has supported Harris as VP before

As for Swift, she has certainly not been shy about using her voice to make her political stances clear.

A month before the 2020 election, Swift posted a photo on Instagram of "Biden 2020" cookies she made encouraging voters to paint the election box blue. She wrote: "I spoke to  @vmagazine  about why I’ll be voting for Joe Biden for president," Swift wrote in the caption. "So apt that it’s come out on the night of the VP debate. Gonna be watching and supporting  @KamalaHarris  by yelling at the tv a lot.

There's time for Swift to make DNC, even with tour

The "Tortured Poets" singer has  a few shows left in London and nine in the United States before Election Day — and six of those concerts are in the swing states of Florida and Indiana. Though she has yet to endorse a candidate this election cycle, Swifties have already speculated that she may have hinted at her approval of Harris as the next president during an Eras Tour concert in Hamburg, Germany.

As Swifties know, one must decode a series of Easter eggs to get the potential message. The light-up wristbands handed out before that show lit up in red, white and blue when Swift — wearing a blue dress — played a mashup of her songs the "Last Great American Dynasty" and "Run."

As far as the timing of the tour in relation to the DNC, the superstar will be performing in London on Tuesday night, which would wrap by Tuesday evening central time. This gives her plenty of time to make it to the windy city on her private jet and attend events happening Wednesday and Thursday.

Neither ladies have performed at previous Democratic or Republican national conventions. However, it will only be a matter of days to see if this year is different.

Injured Taylor Swift Fan Whose Family Died in Crash Wants to Meet the Singer for ‘Strength to Keep Going’ (Exclusive)

Jamie’s Dream Team hopes 11-year-old Aubrey Bogacki, who will attend an Eras Tour show in November, gets to meet Swift

Taylor Swift fan Aubrey Bogacki, the sole survivor of a July 20 car crash that claimed the lives of her dad and two siblings, “needs” to meet the “Soon You’ll Get Better” singer — even if it’s just for “five minutes.”

That’s the latest goal for Jamie Ward, the founder of nonprofit organization Jamie’s Dream Team , who is already making the injured 11-year-old’s dream of seeing Swift in concert come true with tickets to the Eras Tour.

“We need Taylor Swift to meet this girl,” Ward, 37, exclusively tells PEOPLE, adding that it would be “remarkable” if the 14-time Grammy winner picked Aubrey to receive the coveted black fedora that she gives to a pre-selected fan while performing “22” at every tour stop.

“Oh my gosh, my heart would be so full. That needs to be the final piece of her puzzle … to move on, to be able to have that strength to keep going,” Ward says of Aubrey, who will attend Swift’s Nov. 3 show in Indianapolis.

That show will come more than three months after Aubrey was hospitalized after the crash that killed her dad Nathan Bogacki, 44, sister Emma, 17, and brother Grant, 13, in Slippery Rock Township in Pennsylvania.

Aubrey spent 19 days in a hospital for treatment for neck injuries, a broken arm, a collapsed lung and other injuries before being released on Aug. 8 to return home, where she’ll continue physically and mentally healing alongside her mother, Nicole Bogacki, and other loved ones.

Ward, who met Aubrey for the first time on Aug. 2 while she was still in the hospital, presented Aubrey with Eras Tour tickets as well as tickets to Disney World on the day she returned home.

“We woke her up from a nap and told her,” Ward recalls, adding that Aubrey was “so happy” to get the tickets. “Her smile, just her smile when we told her, lit up the room, and her reaction — her look in her eyes — was just exactly what I hoped for, especially for the circumstances that she’s in.”

When Ward asked Aubrey why she liked Swift, the girl answered like a true Swiftie. “She told me there's a meaning behind every one of Taylor’s songs,” Ward explains. “It's true. Taylor Swift relates to families. Every young girl, every woman can relate to her. And she writes songs to relate to her fans.”

Ward, who founded Jamie’s Dream Team in 2005, says the nonprofit has granted more than “30,000 dreams nationally,” including Aubrey’s dream.

A GoFundMe page set up to help the family pay for medical and funeral expenses has raised more than $175,000 as of Friday, Aug. 16.

“We're hoping that they have at least a moment of happiness before the holidays come,” Ward says of the Bogacki family’s grieving process. “To give them hope, to give them strength to keep fighting, to keep feeling, to show them people care, that they’re not alone.”

Steve Lukather aka Luke shares, “There is a refreshing, optimistic enthusiasm to step in to the future. As long-tenured members of the band, Joe and I want to be on the road continuing to keep the original legacy of the band alive, bringing the music to our multi-generational fan base. In 2023, it was truly humbling to perform in front of close to a million fans. And for 2024, we’ll stage appearances in front of even more across the globe. I’ve spent more than four and a half decades of my life nurturing this legacy, while enabling the music to continually exist in the live concert setting.” Joseph Williams offers, “Luke and I have been through a lot with one another. He’s like a brother to me. Our creative partnership has always enriched our lives. As we look ahead, there is nothing but anticipation to bring everything in our minds to life. I can’t think of anyone else on Earth I’d rather collaborate with. He is a lifelong, loyal and gifted friend and band mate…we’ve become The Dogz of Oz!”

Dancer Kameron Saunders falls onstage during Taylor Swift's 'Eras Tour'

Kameron Saunders and Taylor Swift on stage.

Dancer Kameron Saunders is joining in on the  viral “demure” TikTok trend  after a recent fall on stage during one of Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” concerts.

Saunders, who has been busy dancing alongside the pop star for her  series of shows at London’s Wembley Stadium , took a spill while Swift performed “The Tortured Poets Department” section of her set.

The dancer, whose  brother is former Kansas City Chiefs player Khalen Saunders , poked fun at his gaffe in a funny  Instagram  post Aug. 17. He uploaded a clip of him slipping and added an audio recording of record scratch and a voiceover that said, “Yep, that’s me. You’re probably wondering how I ended up in this situation.”

His stumble then played in slow motion before Saunders stood up and caught up to Swift, who didn’t seem to notice his fall as she sang “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.”

In the caption, Saunders continued to laugh at himself and referenced the latest TikTok trend from  creator Jools Lebron  about being “very demure” and “very mindful.”

“You see how I didn’t trip boss lady when I ate s— last night?” he said, referring to the “Fortnight” singer.

He playfully added, “Veryyyy MINDFUL veryyyy Demure,” with a few sparkles emoji.

Saunders assured concerned fans that he was OK after the stumble. “I saw all of your kind ‘he’s such a professional. jumped right back into the choreography’ comments. I’m fine. Promise,” he wrote.

He included a few crying-laughing emoji and said, “Just a bit of an ego check falling in front of 92,000 people! BUT this deserved a laugh. Enjoy!”

Swifties teased him in the comments by altering a few of Swift’s song titles to fit the occasion.

“Kam can do it with a broken hip,” one joked.

Another said,  “thanK you AMiee,” adjusting spelling and capitalization  to align with the dancer’s name.

A third commented, “Miss Americana and the Hip Break Prince,” a play on “Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince.”

One Swiftie complimented Saunders’ professionalism while using the lyrics to “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.” She said, “But he was hitting his marks…..You are amazing,” and added a red heart.

Saunders’ most recent post wasn’t the first time he participated in the “very demure” trend. For each of the “Eras Tour” concerts, Saunders says a funny phrase when Swift turns to him during the bridge of “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.”

At one London show, Saunders put on his best British accent to say  “Are you mad?”  before Swift belted out the chorus.

He shared a video of the moment on Instagram and wrote in the caption, “You see how I ask ‘are you mad?’ in my posh British accent….verrrryyyyyyyy demure.”

The “very demure” trend has taken over the internet this month thanks to Lebron’s TikTok posts about being “modest and respectful” in the workplace. One of Lebron’s videos has reached over 3 million likes on the social media platform.

In an update on Aug. 14, Lebron, who is transgender and uses she/her pronouns, revealed in a  TikTok video  that the success of the “very demure” trend has changed her life.

“Maybe you should make the videos,” she encouraged fans. “Because one day I was playing cashier and making videos on my break, and now I’m flying across the country to host events, and I’m going to be able to finance the rest of my transition.”
