Where to See Santa in Wisconsin

Wondering where to see Santa in Wisconsin this Christmas? Well, you could just go stand in line to see a mall Santa like usual, OR you can have a more unique holiday experience by visiting Santa in one of these unusual locations.

Christmas is a  magical time in Wisconsin  where you can find holiday wonders around just about every corner. Pictures with Santa Claus are practically guaranteed at the mall. You may also find him wandering around the streets of quaint downtown districts across the state for Christmas tree lighting and other holiday festivities. Historical societies hold fascinating Old World Christmas events where Kris Kringle is sure to be jingling his bells for the curious crowds. And of course there’s probably at least one Santa in every Christmas parade.

But if you’re looking for something a little different, Wisconsin offers a few unique, if not downright strange experiences where you can have a close encounter with the jolly old elf himself.

Where to see Santa this Christmas:

1. santa delivers trees at the wisconsin maritime museum.

Santa comes to port for Christmas Tree Ship Day at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum

Each year, the  Wisconsin Maritime Museum  (home of the  haunted submarine USS Cobia ) kicks off the holiday season with a special day dedicated to Lake Michigan’s Christmas tree ship  heritage. Santa, Mrs. Claus, and their helpers sail into port in  Manitowoc  on a tugboat with a load of Christmas trees and then hang around for photos and other activities at the museum.

2. Breakfast with Santa at the Haunted Pfister Hotel

Breakfast with Santa at the haunted Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee

You can have breakfast with Santa just about anywhere. But where can you share waffles with Kris Kringle and some world-famous ghosts? The  Pfister in Milwaukee , that’s where. The  haunted hotel  that regularly makes the news for actors, musicians, and professional baseball players having creepy encounters with the spectral guests who never check out is a great place to find some spooky Christmas cheer.

3. Santa’s Hot Air Balloon Flight

Santa takes flight in a hot air balloon with the Lake Geneva Balloon Company

See Santa take to the air at the Lake Geneva Balloon Company , where they send him up in a hot air balloon to spread Christmas cheer from 2,000 feet  the air!

5. Santa Cycle Rampage

Santa Cycle Rampage bike rides are held in Madison, Milwaukee, and other communities around the state

Hundreds of Santas descend on Madison ,  Milwaukee  and other communities for bike rides to kick off the holiday season and raise money for charity with  Wisconsin Bike Fed .

7. St. Nick and Krampus in Milwaukee

Krampus and St, Nick at the Milwaukee Krampusnacht

In the old Alpine yule tradition, St. Nicholas partners up with a wicked Christmas devil known as Krampus, and they go door to door rewarding good children and punishing the naughty ones. The annual Milwaukee Krampusnacht celebrates this weirder side of Christmas with a Krampus parade, creepy Christmas vendors, and other activities.

8. Helicopter Santa at the EAA Museum

Santa arrives by helicopter at the EAA in Oshkosh

The  EAA in Oshkosh  holds its annual Christmas in the Air event with free admission to the aviation museum where exhibits have been decorated for the holidays. There’s also cookies and milk, performances by local choir and dance groups, a holiday-themed scavenger hunt, and pictures with Santa. After he arrives by helicopter, of course.

9. Lake Geneva Santa Cruise

Tour the Lake Geneva Christmas lights with St. Nick himself aboard the Santa Cruise

Hop on a boat for a cruise around  Geneva Lake to see the Christmas lights. You’ll also go past Santa’s Workshop where Santa himself will read off the names of all the children on the cruise who have been good that year.

YOU CAN SCHEDULE A VIRTUAL SANTA CLAUS VISIT IN ANY CITY OR STATE IN THE USA

“I believe in Santa Claus” is something we have all said. How difficult is it to find a real Santa Claus?  Your search has ended!  Santa Shane – A real Santa Claus; with his real Santa Hair, his real Santa Claus Beard, and his real Santa Claus Suit is ready to visit you! In-Person in Wisconsin or Virtually, anywhere in the country.

Everybody’s wish in this Holiday season is a visit from a Real Santa Claus for Christmas.  Christmas memories are filled with a few things: children, Santa, presents, and presence.  Don’t miss out this year, book an in person or virtual Santa visit today!

When you schedule a visit from a Real Santa Claus, Santa will call his contact to let them know he is about to appear for your visit.  This allows time for you to get children and other guests inside and ready for the big arrival!  The Christmas magic begins as Santa enters the room with a big ho-ho-ho, jiggling his bells and accessing how the children are accepting him.  Santa does not like to approach children immediately if they are afraid.  The idea is to have children who are not afraid give Santa a hug, a high five or shake his hand.  This is good for the children who are afraid to see and get more comfortable.  Santa also likes to give special attention to senior adults, because Santa Claus brings back so many special memories for them. Santa Claus effects everybody in so many different ways.  Then, depending upon the group that is in attendance, Santa can pass out presents and pose with children, families, and guests for photographs, as Santa likes to interact with each person individually.  You might have read that Santa’s background was in childcare, and he has been doing this for more than a decade.

Santa knows what small children usually like, what tweens and teens don’t like (not to sit on Santa Claus’s lap), and of course, the senior adults – they love the Man in the red suit!

Depending upon the time allotted, Santa can read the story  Twas the Night Before Christmas .  If you would like to print out song lyrics the group and Santa can sing along to some carols you have printed out.

Christmas and Santa go together like macaroni and cheese.

As a parent or guardian, you likely grew up with Christmas Santa visits.

Santa Shane is available for in person visits – to your home, office, or elsewhere – in Wisconsin Dells – Madison –  Milwaukee and areas in-between. This is not just a phone number to call a Santa; this is a real Santa Claus interacting live with your children.  In person, or via Zoom.   Book your visit today!

If Grandparents or other family members live far away, they can join in on the video chat with Zoom.  How fun will it be for Grandma or Grandpa to see the excitement on your children’s faces when they see this real Santa Claus virtually?   They too can join in on the video call and watch as Santa visits your home virtually through Zoom .

Santa Claus with a Real Beard travels from Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, to Madison, Wisconsin to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and areas in-between.

This real Santa has residences in Wisconsin and the North Pole.

While Santa Shane might not arrive in a real Santa Sleigh, you can be sure this Santa will arrive with his Santa real beard, and real Santa Claus suit.  That’s right; this is not a bad Santa Claus costume!  But an authentic Santa Claus suit.

There is nothing more precious at Christmas time than Santa Claus with children. Santa home visits and corporate events are available again this upcoming Christmas season.  While Santa likes to visit homes in a car, and not a real Santa Sleigh (parking is so difficult with the sleigh!), Santa Shane comes to you with a real Santa Claus suit, and a real Santa beard.

A beautiful tree is the heart of every home during Christmas time. Give the tree even more significance by cutting it down yourself as part of a memorable family experience.

Wisconsin offers plenty of tree farms where you can chop down a tree yourself or pick one and have it cut down for you.

Many farms also have special Christmas-themed events, gift shops, and outdoor activities for kids.

Of course, the stock is limited on tree farms, and trees are in high demand in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

So before heading out to a farm, it’s a good idea to call ahead and make sure it still has trees on offer.

The Wisconsin Christmas Tree Producers Association has a helpful website with a full directory of all tree farms in the state.

This will help you easily check where to cut your own Christmas tree in Wisconsin.

Santas Without Chimneys

How is this different than other gift drives? Madison is fortunate to have several fine programs helping families in need! Many of the others work on a larger scale to help families with needs beyond (though potentially including) homelessness, and may have age restrictions, offer a limited number of toys, and/or require that families commute to pick-up sites during a specific time. Santas Without Chimneys delivers gifts to children of all ages directly where they're staying. Our model of soliciting wishlists from the specific and very vulnerable population of homeless children in our community means that we have a good understanding of who each child is as an individual and can put together a carefully-curated package of gifts just for them. We also welcome applications that include wishes from adult children who have developmental disabilities if they wish to participate, as well as or including adult children who are completing a high school degree or equivalent.

When we say that we provide "personalized" gifts for every child on our list, what does that mean? Here's a peek at what... Posted by Santas Without Chimneys on  Thursday, December 4, 2014

Harris focuses on Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania in an effort to shore up her support

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) — Vice President Kamala Harris has upcoming events scheduled in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin as her campaign focuses spending on the “blue wall” states with the Nov. 5 election nearing.

On Tuesday, Harris will sit for an interview with the National Association of Black Journalists in Philadelphia. Two days later, she is joining Oprah Winfrey in Michigan at her “Unite for America” livestream event with 140 different grassroots organizations. Harris’ visit to Wisconsin on Friday will be her fourth since she launched her White House run in July.

Harris’ campaign has a large operation in the states with hundreds of staff and on-the-ground outreach efforts. Supporters in Wisconsin have knocked on more than 500,000 doors and that since last week’s debate with Trump, the campaign has signed up more than 3,000 new volunteers.

Overall, Harris’ team is on pace to outspend Republican Donald Trump’s campaign 2-to-1 in television advertising over the next two months. Even before Democratic President Joe Biden ended his reelection campaign and made way for Harris, the Democrats wielded superior campaign infrastructure in battleground states.

Harris’ team, which includes her campaign and an allied super political action committee, has more than $280 million in television and radio reservations for the period between Tuesday and Election Day, according to the media tracking firm AdImpact. Trump’s team has $133 million reserved for the final stretch, although that number is expected to grow.

How to Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in Madison

We come together to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month every year from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. It's a beautiful time to honor the vibrant cultures, traditions, histories and contributions of Hispanic and Latinx Americans in the U.S. The origins of Hispanic Heritage Month can be traced back to 1968 when President Lyndon B. Johnson initiated Hispanic Heritage Week. The celebration was later extended to a full month in 1988.

In Madison, we celebrate the month with a lineup of cultural events that help you see, hear, feel and taste the culture that helps makes our community so vibrant. Jump to Madison celebrations.>

Embracing the Rich Cultural Diversity of Latin America

To truly decolonize our understanding of Hispanic Heritage Month, I want to acknowledge the deeper, more complex history of Latin America. Before the arrival of the Spanish and Portuguese, the Americas were home to thriving civilizations like the Maya, Aztec, and Inca, among many others. These Indigenous peoples had their own rich cultures, languages and traditions that have survived centuries of colonization and continue to be an integral part of Latin American identity today.

The forced migration of Africans during the transatlantic slave trade brought new cultures, languages, and traditions to Latin America. These African influences have deeply shaped our music, dance, religion and even cuisine. Hispanic Heritage Month should be a time to honor these roots and acknowledge that our cultures are the result of a complex and often painful history that includes resistance, resilience, and the blending of many different peoples.

Latin America is not a monolith; it’s a region of immense diversity, where Indigenous, African, European, and Asian influences coexist and intersect. Each country and community has its own unique traditions, customs and languages, shaped by local histories and geographies.

This celebration is not just about acknowledging the past, but also about embracing the dynamic present and the promising future that the Latinx community brings to our nation. Whether it’s the rich flavors of our cuisine, the rhythms that make us dance, or the stories that shape our identities, Hispanic Heritage Month is a reminder of the colorful tapestry that Latinos add to the cultural, economic and political landscape in the United States.

Why Do We Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month?

Hispanic Heritage Month was established during a time when the contributions of Latino communities were finally beginning to gain recognition in the United States. The timing of celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month is no coincidence—it aligns with the independence anniversaries of several Latin American countries including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua on Sept. 15, Mexico on Sept. 16, and Chile on Sept. 18. These dates highlight the deep historical ties between the U.S. and Latin American nations. These dates are a powerful reminder of our shared values of independence, resilience, and the unbreakable bonds that connect us.

The Growing Latino Population and Its Impact

The Latino community in the U.S. is growing—and with that growth comes incredible influence. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, as of 2020, Latinos make up nearly 19% of the U.S. population, making us the largest ethnic minority in the country. But our impact goes far beyond numbers.

Latinos are driving growth in key sectors like agriculture, construction, retail, and healthcare. Our entrepreneurial spirit is thriving, with Latino-owned businesses growing faster than the national average. And let’s talk about purchasing power—estimated to be close to $2 trillion, our economic influence is undeniable.

The Latino Community in Wisconsin: A Spotlight on Madison

Here in Wisconsin, the Latino community is making its mark, particularly in cities like Madison. With Latinos representing around 7% of the state’s population, our presence is felt in the local economy and beyond. In Madison, Latino-owned businesses are not just surviving—they’re thriving. From delicious restaurants to innovative startups, we’re creating jobs, fueling growth, and enriching the community. But our impact isn’t just economic; it’s cultural too. The festivals that celebrate our heritage, the restaurants that offer a taste of home, and the community events that bring us together—all these elements contribute to the vibrant cultural fabric of Madison.

How to Celebrate in Madison

I invite you to join us in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month by participating the various community events! Experience the rich traditions, music, and cuisine that highlight the vibrant Hispanic cultures. Your presence not only supports the preservation of these cultural treasures but also fosters greater understanding and unity among us all.

  • Sept. 15: Viva Mexico at Breese Stevens Field
  • Sept. 24: Hispanic & Latine Heritage Month Celebration at Centro Hispano
  • Sept. 26: Celebrando Nuestra Cultura at Madison College-Goodman South Campus

BONUS : If you enjoy dancing as much as I do, check out the Cardinal Bar every Thursday for a fun night of live performances from various Latinx local bands and Cafe Coda's Latin dance classes. Visit our restaurants page to find local Latin eats across town.

Wisconsin top-10 class of 2026 running back target to visit madison this weekend, share this article.

Wisconsin football top-ranked class of 2026 running back Shahn Alston announced his plans to visit Madison this weekend on X .

The recruiting weekend has morphed into a notable one for Wisconsin in both football and basketball. Four-star hoops prospects Davion Hannah and Amari Allen will also trek to Madison for UW’s bout against the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday.

While all eyes will be directed toward what transpires on the gridiron, Luke Fickell’s staff is navigating future recruiting waters behind the scenes.

Arguably the most coveted offensive target of Wisconsin’s next recruiting class, Alston received his offer from UW on March 22, 2024. 247Sports currently ranks the junior back as the No. 112 overall recruit, No. 9 running back and No. 5 recruit from the state of Ohio for the class of 2026.

On3, another high-profile recruiting hub, considers Alston the No. 84 player in the country for the class of 2026 and No. 2 overall recruit out of Ohio. He’s labeled as a four-star on 247Sports, On3 and ESPN.

Despite his age, Alston owns quite the list of collegiate offers thus far. Of his 21 extended opportunities, the most notable programs include Baylor, Missouri, Penn State, USC, Purdue, Louisville, Auburn and Wisconsin.

At Harvey High School in Painesville, Ohio, Alston has played on both sides of the ball. As a sophomore, he ran for 1,042 yards and 15 TDs on 8.1 yards per carry on top of his four catches for 82 receiving yards and one receiving TD.

As a freshman in 2022, he rushed for 675 yards and 15 TDs in the backfield and registered 39 tackles, five sacks, two interceptions and four forced fumbles on defense.

As of Sept. 10, there is no clear-cut recruiting lock for where Alston will land. If Wisconsin can impress this weekend, the program will boost its chances of landing one of the most talented players in the class.
