Don’t bother!!!

I’ve had to update to this app as the old one had as old version had been turned off. This app is absolutely crap and will be getting removed as every time I’ve tried to open it it’s taken forever to load. I’ve tried to sign in every time as it doesn’t remember my details despite I’ve pressed the save details box and not supported on iOS keychain so that doesn’t save it but says details not recognised. You can’t pinpoint your location straight away it just gives you a overview of the whole of the midlands with loads of little circles with numbers on them. You have to pinpoint the actual bus stop you want to view the times of, if you add the bus stop and the one across the road to your favourites it doesn’t say what direction it’s going, for example the 2 bus stops I’ve added one goes towards Solihull and the other goes towards Sheldon but nothing is physically said on the page so you need to check and then check again to make sure you’ve got the bus stop. Please go back to old version or get this app sorted out!!!

Awful user experience

This app just doesn’t work at all. So many poor reviews all citing the same bugs, I’m so surprised that a professional app with this many faults is allowed to be released to the public. Far from making life easier, it makes it ten times worse if not more. Even the website is out of sync in terms of information to go with this app, and it drives me absolutely insane. We’re told to use more public transport, yet this is just plain confusing. Maybe they can learn how to do things the right way from TFL.
This is awful. All I need to know is what time the next bus is. I could do that from the old app quickly and easily. No chance of that with this one! Why the need to change? Also, I have tried numerous times to register and just get blank screens part way through the registration process and can’t go any further. This app needs some serious attention before it can be considered to be even remotely useful. Take a look at TfL and the Cardiff Bus app to see how things should be done.

Journey Planning

man with smartphone photo

Whether you’re new to travelling by bus, or a seasoned traveller making an unfamiliar journey, there are a number of resources available so you can plan your journey in advance and travel in confidence.

TfWM Journey Planner

The Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) website has a very handy journey planning tool that will allow you to plan your journey in advance and give exact details on the journey you will need to take. You can specify various other public transport methods apart from the bus, and you can be provided with step-by-step walking instructions for travelling between interchange stops

Click here to plan your journey!

Google Maps

You can also plan public transport journeys using Google Maps (website and app). Right-click on the map to select your ‘from’ and ‘to’ points, and then click the Transit icon (that looks like a train)

Go to Google Maps website

The Traveline Midlands website offers a journey planning service that will even plan your journey beyond the West Midlands!

Go to Traveline Midlands website

Mobile Apps

For journey planning on the move, use the TfWM app, see the Apps page for more information and links.

Other mobile apps I have used that are very useful and I can personally recommend are ‘Citymapper’ and ‘Moovit’, search for them in the Apple or Google Play stores.

West Midlands Bus on Demand

From 22 December 2023, West Midlands Bus on Demand will no longer be serving Warwickshire. Find out more about the changes.

West Midlands Bus On Demand is a new type of bus service that anyone travelling in the Coventry area can use. It does not follow a specific route.

Instead, you book a journey and a bus will pick you up at a time you choose.

Download the app on Google Play or iOS

It operates 7 days a week:

Monday to Friday, 6am to 11pm Saturday, 8am to 11pm Sunday, 8am to 3:30pm

Registering for West Midlands Bus On Demand

You will need to register if you would like to use the service.

  • Download our app on Google Play for Android or the App Store for iOS
  • Create an account
  • Add a default payment method

You can also register without the app - call 0345 034 8670 .

Our phone lines are open:

Monday to Friday , 8am to 6pm Saturday, 8am to 4pm Sundays & Bank Holidays, Closed

Booking a journey

To book a trip:

  • Open the app or call 0345 034 8670
  • Choose your destination and pick-up time. You can book immediately or up to 7 days in advance
  • Confirm your journey and pick-up point

If you are using the app, it might suggest it’s quicker to take a normal bus service. You can ignore this if you want and still book the on-demand bus.

You cannot change a booking once it’s been confirmed. You will need to cancel it and rebook instead. To cancel, use the app or call 0345 034 8670 .

Please let us know as soon as possible if you won’t be travelling on your chosen journey. That way we can ensure the bus is available for other passengers to book.

Ticket prices

Standard fare.

  • 0 - 1.5 miles: £2

Your fare is based on the distance you are travelling. Distances are calculated as a straight line from A to B and does not dependent on the route the bus takes.

The price of your journey will be confirmed when you book, and your fare will remain the same regardless of how many stops or passengers there are.

You can either pay by cash on the bus or by card once your journey is complete.

You are eligible for the concessionary discount if you are either:

  • under 18 years old
  • over 67 years old
  • have a registered disability

Group and bulk discounts

Once you have booked you will be able to add additional passengers for £1 per person regardless of journey length. You can add up to 10 people to one booking.

You are also able to bulk purchase rides:

  • 12 journeys for £30
  • 30 journeys for £60

Concessionary passes cannot be used on group or bulk bookings, as these already offer discounted journey pricing.

Catching the bus

You’ll be told exactly when and where to catch the bus.

If you use the app, you can follow the bus in real-time. You will also receive a text message reminder 10 and 5 minutes before arrival.

We cannot wait for you if you’re running late, so please ensure you are at your pick-up destination before your chosen time.

If the bus does not turn up, check the app or call 0345 034 8670.

The bus is not a taxi. It may pick up and drop off other people on the way to your destination.

Wheelchair users

We use accessible minibuses with space for a wheelchair. You can also bring assistance dogs on the bus.

If you are a wheelchair user we will need to do an assessment before you are able to use the service.

This is to keep you safe and to ensure we can safely carry your wheelchair.

To arrange this, please call 0345 034 8670.
