Inside Emma Roberts’s Charming Los Angeles Home
Released on 04/15/2024
[door clicks]
Hey, AD. I'm Emma Roberts.
Come on in and check out my house.
[funky music]
We are in the living room.
What I love about this room is that
there's tons of new stuff, but also we've reused
a lot of stuff from another house.
Emily and Louisa, Pierce and Ward,
I told them basically to just do their magic.
But what I love about this house is it speaks for itself
where it is like a grownup dollhouse.
It's very storybook.
And when we were moving in, it was just me and my son.
And so I was just like,
I want this to be our house that is just our style
and filled with our memories and our love.
This room really gets used when people are over
or if it's the holidays, things get moved around
for a Christmas tree over there.
But I just love to actually sit here and read on this couch.
This is kind of like my quiet room.
The fireplace used to be like mirrored and kind of foggy,
and I thought it was chic until somebody told me it wasn't.
And I immediately was like, We need to fix this fireplace.
And so they came up with the idea of matching the chairs
for the fireplace and also tying in the stripe on the couch.
So I feel like there can never be enough
stripes or fringe or tassels in a house,
which I know people would disagree with, but I love it.
Now we are at the bar.
They found this amazing antique bar
that I am so obsessed with, and vintage chairs, vintage bar.
It's very, very chic.
My staple drink that I make for people is pouring champagne.
So this is Daniel Day Lewis.
I was at an Oscar party one year
and they had these on the table and I just really needed it.
And so I carried it around all night to realize it was decor
and it's empty and I probably shouldn't have taken it,
but I really made good use of it and people love it.
It's a great conversation starter. So, hi Daniel Day Lewis.
[upbeat music]
Now, we're moving over to my little office area.
And Pierce & Ward always laughs because I need a pin board.
I love an inspo board. It's always in progress.
That's what I love about an inspiration board
is it's never done.
In my favorite bookstore in the east village,
they display the books like that
in little baggies pinned to the wall.
So little copy from them.
And yeah, just stuff that I love is on there.
And then stuff I really love is behind me.
I'm really excited to show you guys. The doll wall.
[clears throat] I have to move this
to get optimal looks at the dolls.
Okay, so these are the dolly kins.
I'm madly obsessed with them, in love with them.
She was my first one and still my favorite,
but I do love all of them.
And then my most recent addition is Leggy Jill
and I got her for my birthday,
and I was looking for Leggy Jill for over a year.
And then my boyfriend surprised me with her.
I took her outta the box, which he did not approve of.
I take my dolls outta the box,
which people get very up in arms about.
But I feel like if you're gonna collect dolls,
you may as well enjoy them.
We have Blythe. Obviously, she's my favorite.
My original girl, like she is really
how I fell in love with dolls.
And then this is a fun one.
This is like drunk cowgirl Barbie, and I heard about her,
and I thought that she didn't really exist
and she was a joke, but it turns out she does exist.
And she's just amazing. Like, look at her.
She's fabulous. She's having the time of her life.
When I was younger and people would be like,
Aren't you scared your dolls are gonna come to life?
I'm like, I hope that every night
that they'll come wake me up. [laughs]
It would be so thrilling.
We are in the TV room and I would say
we spend the most time in here.
It is the comfiest couch, very comfy chairs, TV behind you,
and my son has his toys in that chest.
So this is where I'll watch TV. He'll play, we'll both play.
We love it in here.
You're seeing it at its absolute cleanest.
It's never looked like this before.
And then we have what is the start
of a little Joni Mitchell shrine, dare I say,
I love her so much.
And then we have the overflow of books over here.
Also some more dolls.
This little Bride of Frankenstein by Mob Graves,
who is one of my favorite artists.
This is a book I actually gave as a gift to my ex
but then we broke up.
I saw how much it was worth and I kept it.
I do love restoration hardware
and I've owned this light many times in many houses,
and it always works in one room or the other.
This chair was my timeout chair as a kid.
It had to come with me to my houses
and now my son sits in it and loves it,
and so it just makes me kind of laugh to myself
when I think about it.
And we still call it the timeout chair.
Like, my mom will be like, Oh my god, the timeout chair.
But yeah, she's seen it all.
The kitchen was the place that at first I was like,
It needs the least amount of stuff.
And I realized that that was not true.
I would never even think to put an island here.
And when they told me, I was like, Okay, let's do it.
And it completely changed how we like live in the kitchen
'cause I'm sure it's, you know, the age old thing
where everyone's like, Why when you have a party
is everyone in the kitchen? And it's annoying.
But this actually, it makes it so it's like fun
to hang out in here.
I have a very fun mug collection.
I love Halloween, I love witches.
So these were a must for me.
This is for Rhodie, little cowboy.
These are from Danny Mud Shop and I just, I love them.
They look like Kewpies. So we have a bunch of these.
These little creamers, these are from Nickey Kehoe,
and I don't know, they just bring me joy.
Love these on a little breakfast display.
Totally cute, and then there's like random stuff
that I've like collected and can't get rid of
like this Princeton College little cup
that I never have once used,
but I just like knowing she's in there, you know.
I collect felted things.
This is by Laura Colors
and I got this from her on Instagram.
And then these are actually real cereal ads
that I found like in a bin
in this junk store on Martha's Vineyard,
and Pierce & Ward framed them like this.
But I just fell so in love with the idea
of having like vintage cereal ads in the kitchen,
I thought was super cute.
We are in Rhodes' room and when his room was finished,
I was like, Wait, I want this room.
He loves nature and animals
and so I wanted to make his room feel
like a little enchanted forest.
And they showed me this fabric first
and they didn't need to show me anything else.
Pretty much everything in here was
the first thing that they showed,
the wallpaper on the ceiling with the ducks.
'Cause I remember when I was a kid
and I had the like glow stars on the ceiling,
and my mom at one point had a mural for me on the ceiling,
and those memories are so seared into my brain
as a kid just laying in bed looking up at the ceiling,
so I wanted to make that special for him.
And then of course Rhodie has his own little library.
He loves to read, which makes me so happy.
So this was mine. As you can see, Emma, when I was little.
And this I remember taking to the sink
to brush my teeth with.
So of course Rhodie had to have one with his name on it.
And his is cool 'cause it actually comes out as blocks,
which he thinks is very fun.
I love Hopalong Cassidy stuff. I think it's so cute.
One of my favorite vintage stores called Grayford's
in Montclair, New Jersey.
He had this and I bought it for Rhodes' room
before I even had this house.
But I just knew it was gonna hang in his room
or wherever we ended up.
This is technically my front yard,
even though I'm up in the hills,
there's like a flat front yard and backyard
for my son to run around.
And this gazebo was a big selling point,
which by the way I should mention, this house was for rent.
And I came to look at it and I was like,
Would they sell it? thinking they'd say no,
but they said yes, so that was kind of funny.
But this gazebo they had set up with
actually more of like an eating area.
And I love it more as like a hang area.
You'll usually find me out here talking on the phone.
Now we go to the pool.
My son loves to do this little trail
where he goes up there up there
and likes to stand on like the most dangerous rock
by the jacuzzi, you know, as kids do, so that's pretty fun.
I fell in love with this pool area
'cause yeah, it's not like your typical sleek pool area.
It actually like reminds me of being a kid
where you would just be like jumping off of rocks
or jumping off the side of the house,
which you guys shouldn't do that.
But you know, whenever when I was a kid,
like had diving boards and all that,
which we're not allowed to have anymore.
And so this to me felt like fun in a safe way.
Should I just jump in now? [crew laughs]
We are in the primary suite
and this room, when I walked in, and it was done,
I couldn't believe it.
I love anything floral, especially roses, peonies, pinks,
and the fact that they match the headboard to the drapes.
I just absolutely died.
When it's all shut, it just looks like one big painting,
and it's so beautiful, and so cozy in here.
As I said, cozy is the word I'm always looking for.
These vintage lamps, these came from Las Vegas
and again, we needed more fringe.
So these I was introduced to,
they're made by Pierce & Ward, cord covers,
because how many times are we looking at beautiful pieces
and then the cords ruin it?
So now we have an amazing solution
that you'll see all throughout the house
to just cover them with gorgeous fabric.
Another genius idea that I did not come up with.
Something else I loved that they did in this room
is mismatched side tables.
And I remember when they brought them in,
I was like, I'd love both of them.
Which one are we gonna use? And they're like, Both.
And I didn't know how it was gonna look
and now I feel like I need to do
mismatched side tables everywhere I go.
So we are in my bathroom slash my office
slash my favorite place in the world.
There was hardwood floors in here,
so I was like, We have to tile the bathroom,
and we were just gonna do white, you know, who cares?
Make it look clean, and then we found this tile.
This gorgeous like pomegranate-colored tile
and I just fell in love with it,
and love that we kind of added some pops of pink color
with the curtains to kind of go with the floor.
It just all came together so beautifully.
I usually sit here at my computer, I do some Zooms,
I, you know, read my magazines, write in my notebook.
It's so funny 'cause before when I moved in,
there was just like a ballet bar on this wall
and I was like, Oh, I'll do my at home bar classes
on this bar on the wall, perfect.
No, clothes were strewn on it at all times.
I don't think I did one bar workout on that ballet bar.
So I remember after the floor was in and everything,
I was like, Do you think we could do a vanity?
And they made all my dreams come true with it.
A bar cart turned bath product holder
I think is very underrated.
My little Rhodie, his room doesn't have a bathtub
so it's cute 'cause he'll take a bath in here.
And that's kind of our thing at night
where we go from his room or the living room
and run into here and have bath time.
As you can see, his toys are down here.
If I have free time, I'll come in here
and just really take some time for me and decompress.
I mean, as soon as you guys leave,
I'm gonna take a bath and be like, I hope that went okay.
Thanks AD for coming to check out my dolls and my books.
I hope you had fun and see you next time. Bye.

Emma Roberts opened up about making her $3.6 million Los Angeles home, previously owned by Minnie Driver, feel like a sanctuary from the world during a house tour with Architectural Digest of her stunning property.
While reflecting on moving into her new space following her split from ex Garrett Hedlund after nearly three years together in early 2022, the American Horror Story star, 33, revealed she wanted to create a place that really felt like it was her own.
'What I love about this house is it speaks for itself, it's like a grown up dollhouse. It's very storybook. And when we were moving in, it was just me and my son,' she told the publication.
She continued: 'I want this to be our house that is just our style, and filled with our memories and our love.'

'What I love about this house is it speaks for itself, it's like a grown up dollhouse. It's very storybook. And when we were moving in, it was just me and my son,' she told the publication
Unlike her childhood, which the mother-of-one said included several different moves, the New York native said it was important to her to put down roots for her little boy, Rhodes, who she welcomed in December 2020.
'I think I lived in 10 houses by the time I was 15 — so for me now, having a son, I wanted a place that felt really ours.' she told AD. 'I have a picture of the day we moved in. I'm holding him and it was the most sunny California day, and we were in front of the blue door of our new house. I just remember feeling like we are exactly where we need to be.'
Roberts worked with designers, Louisa Pierce and Emily Ward, to make her whimsical dream home a reality, complete with a 'doll wall' located near her office.
The Wild Child actress excitedly showed off her beloved collectibles from her childhood as well as dolls and items obtained as an adult, including a drunk cowgirl Barbie, Blythe dolls and 'Leggy Jill' doll.
'I'm madly obsessed with them, in love with them,' Roberts said as she began to pull a few off her shelves.
The performer went on to admit that when she was younger and people would ask if she was ever afraid the dolls would come to life, she joked that she hopes they come wake her up 'every night.'
'It would be so thrilling,' she mused.
During the interview as she showed off her library, she laughed as she picked up the novel, Norwood, by Charles Portis.

Similar books from Etsy of the book, considered a 'rare find' and 'vintage from the 1960s,' are going for around $4,500.
Over the years, the Belletrist founder has been romantically linked to Evan Peters, Christopher Hines, Hayden Christensen, Chord Overstreet, Alex Pettyfer, Ryan Sheckler and various other stars.
While speaking about her style Roberts declared that she believes that 'there can never be enough stripes or fringe or tassels in a house.'

Only Emma Roberts Could Live In A “Grown-Up Doll House”
Straight out of a fairytale, this los angeles abode is packed with witchy details and a shrine to joni mitchell.
Another week, another celebrity home to covet. The latest addition to the canon comes courtesy of former Nickelodeon child star turned our favourite witchy wild child, Emma Roberts. The 33-year-old opened the doors to her Los Angeles residence for Architectural Digest , in turn giving us nosy voyeurs a glimpse at her eclectic taste in interiors.
Roberts purchased the cottage-style Hollywood Hills home from fellow actress Minnie Driver back in 2021 for a refreshingly affordable USD $3.2 million. (Well, that is by A-lister standards. Need we direct you to the multi-million homes listed on Netflix’s Selling Sunset or Buying Beverly Hills? )
The 1920s colonial estate is more intimate than expansive, featuring 2,500 square feet, three bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms and a second-floor main suite with a private patio overlooking the backyard. Yet, when the American Horror Story star toured us around the Californian bungalow, netizens were captivated by the fairytale charm and personality saturated throughout the abode.
“Minimalism is not my strong suit,” Roberts joked. “Every house I’ve ever lived in feels a little bit like a cabinet of curiosities.” She describes the residence as a “grown-up doll house” which is the perfect analogy for the storybook-style décor. While we’d describe the home as ‘feminine romantic gothic’, it’s not hard to be instantly besotted with the mix of vintage furniture, warm tones and botanical prints overrunning the residence.
Of course, given this is an AD-approved celebrity house tour, the home isn’t without its quirks. Some border on the acme of ‘cool girl’, including her vintage bar, collection of classic contemporary literature like Eve Babitz, Joan Didion , Françoise Sagan, and her shrine to Joni Mitchell. (Roberts is the co-founder of the online book club Belletrist, after all.)
Other elements are unique to Roberts’ style, including the wall showcasing her assemblage of dolls, her Halloween-themed mug collection and the rare copy of Charles Portis’ “Norwood” stolen from a boyfriend following a breakup. ( Evan Peters , don’t even think about coming to claim this back.)
It’s a rare treat to be gifted a look at a celebrity home so filled with character. And for that, we are endlessly thankful. Ahead, a closer look at Emma Roberts’ home, including pieces inspired by the actress’ aesthetic that you can add to your own property.

Homewares inspired by Emma Roberts’ fairytale abode:
Textures, prints and colours repeatedly clash throughout the entire property, with intricately detailed rugs prominent in every space of Roberts’ home. (Including her bathroom, because who doesn’t use a vintage-inspired rug as a bathmat?) This Chenille variant from Australia’s first-ever washable rug brand, Double, features a Persian-style pattern and two-toned amber and ruby colourways to add a striking dose of warmth to a residence. Plus, the romantic hues feel like something you’d find in a Princess fairytale, making it fitting for Roberts’ storybook aesthetic.
With Roberts’ living room saturated in 70s-inspired caramel tones, reach for Sarah Ellison’s iconic ‘Huggy’ armchair for an equal measure of comfort and nostalgia.
As Roberts revealed most of her meetings and work are performed from her bathroom vanity (we mean, who could resist that Hollywood mirror lighting?), a pair of pyjamas that double as workwear is a must. If you hadn’t bitten the bullet during the COVID-19 pandemic and invested in chic leisurewear you can wear out of the house, allow Roberts’ “Open Door” to be your excuse. We recommend this velvet set from luxury sleepwear designer, Olivia Von Halle.
Roberts professed her love of stripes and tassels early on during the tour, so it’s a no-brainer to assume she’d endorse this languid sleep mask from Scandi fabric connoisseur, Tekla.
Maison Balzac’s array of surrealist glassware and home pieces would fit perfectly within Roberts’ enchanted cottage vibe. Case in point: this baguette basket rendered in the shape of a snail. Yes, a bread basket feels like a luxury only an American or Parisian might invest in. But isn’t that all the more reason to own one yourself? With the natural raffia adding a coastal element to your home, this piece feels like something you’d find in a Brothers Grimm fable. Who needs Nancy Meyers when you can take interior inspiration from European gothic folklore?
Roberts’ home doesn’t feel tied to a particular interior style or period, which makes these doily coasters from Gohar World a perfect addition. Given the actress revealed her limited bar-tending skills, the champagne coups Roberts serves to her guests would be instantly elevated if offered with this pearl-adorned ornamental drink mat.
Raise your hand if you haven’t been personally victimised by Fourth Street Homes’ iconic brass egg. That is to say, this sculptural piece was the homeware du jour , making it a coveted staple and marker of good taste. Given Roberts’ recent acting project, American Horror Story: Delicate , heavily referenced eggs, imaging this metal trinket on her bookshelf isn’t too farfetched.
A crystal bonbonnière is extravagant, but so is the eclectic mix of floral prints and vintage furniture littered through Roberts’ home, making this piece fit right in. Plus, the crescent moon topper would certainly earn her approval, given her love of witches and prominence for portraying on. (Hello, Maddison Montgomery from AHS: Coven ). Whether you’re storing sweets in it à la the witch from Hansel & Gretel , or simply cotton buds on your bathroom shelf, this trinket does it all.

Inside emma roberts’ $3.6m ‘grown-up dollhouse’ in la: ‘the home is like a womb’.
Emma Roberts’ $3.6 million home in Los Angeles is like something out of a fairy tale.
“The home is like a womb,” the actress, who lives in the cozy abode with her and ex-partner Garrett Hedlund’s 3-year-old son, Rhodes, told Architectural Digest .
“I haven’t always had that — I think I lived in 10 houses by the time I was 15 — so for me now, having a son, I wanted a place that felt really ours.”
The “American Horror Story” star turned to designers Louisa Pierce and Emily Ward to transform the residence into a cozy “grown-up dollhouse.”
“What I love about this house is, it speaks for itself, where it’s like a grown-up dollhouse. It’s very storybook,” she explained. “And when we were moving in it was just me and my son, so I was just like, ‘I want this to be our house,’ that is just our style and filled with our memories and our love.”
Roberts’ living room, where she loves to cuddle up by the fire and read, is filled with antique furniture and tons of patterns and textures.
“I feel like there can never be enough stripes or fringe or tassels in a house,” she added, “which I know people would disagree with, but I love it.”
Pierce told the magazine that the decor concept is based on making sure the home doesn’t look “new.”
“We want a house to look like it’s been there for 50 years,” the Pierce & Ward co-founder said.
The office area in Roberts’ home features a classical desk and chair that’s situated beneath the former Nickelodeon star’s mood board.
“I love an inspo board,” she explained, adding that it’s “always in progress.”
Adjacent to her mood board are several shelves containing Roberts’ impressive doll collection.
“I’m really excited to show you guys the doll wall,” she said while giving the outlet a tour. “I’m madly obsessed with [the dolls]. In love with them.”
Her treasured collection includes a Leggy Jill, a Blythe Doll and a Drunk Cowgirl Barbie that Roberts was convinced did not truly exist until she acquired one.
The “Scream Queens” alum also revealed that she and her son spend the most time in their TV room.
“It is the comfiest couch, very comfy chairs,” she said, adding that her son’s toy chest is also in the room. “We love it in here.”

Roberts’ farmhouse-style kitchen has rustic wood finishes, white-and-brown tiled flooring and soft ivory cabinets filled with her eclectic mug collection.
Meanwhile, her son’s snug yet sophisticated bedroom mirrors the vintage feel of the home.
As for the primary suite, it’s styled with vintage lamps and mismatched side tables – with no shortage of floral touches, frills and drapery.
“It looks like one big painting,” she said of her bedroom. “It’s so beautiful and it’s so in cozy here. As I said, cozy is the word I’m always looking for.”
The en suite bathroom has stunning pomegranate-tiled floors, a vanity area where she frequently sets up her workspace and a freestanding bathtub.
Roberts’ lush estate features a charming, vine-covered gazebo, a natural stone swimming pool and flourishing greenery.

Emma Roberts Turns Her $3.4 Million L.A. Home Into A 'Grown-Up Doll House'
Emma Roberts , the actress known for he roles in American Horror Story and the Scream movies, has transformed her Los Angeles home into one reminiscent of a real-life dollhouse.
“Minimalism is not my strong suit,” Roberts told Architectural Digest . “Every house I’ve ever lived in feels a little bit like a cabinet of curiosities…I loved the idea of making my very own grown-up dollhouse.”
Roberts said her goal was to create a home filled with cherished memories and love that would serve as a sanctuary for herself and her three-year-old son, Rhodes , whom she co-parents with ex-partner Garrett Hedlund.
In a video tour of her residence, Roberts highlighted a unique feature, the “doll wall,” located near her office. Each shelf has an array of collectibles from her childhood and discoveries made in adulthood. She enthusiastically showcased her beloved “drunk cowgirl” Barbie and Blythe dolls.
In a nod to her involvement in American Horror Story , Roberts playfully shared, “I hope that every night — that they’ll come wake me up. It would be so thrilling.” Moving to the living room, Roberts revealed her fondness for matching the fireplace with striped armchairs, as she believes a house can never have too many stripes, fringe or tassels.
The TV room holds a special place for Roberts and her son, as it is adorned with his toys and mementos from her childhood. The shelves display various dolls, while her childhood “timeout chair” is a conversation starter. Roberts proudly showcases her growing “shrine” dedicated to iconic musician Joni Mitchell.
In the kitchen, Roberts highlighted the center island, which she described as a delightful social space. The kitchen is adorned with vintage cereal ads and another cherished collection—her mugs, which feature Halloween and witch-themed pieces.
Roberts uses the primary suite’s floral patterns and pink hues to create a serene ambiance. The bathroom follows a similar palette and features “pomegranate-colored” tiles and vibrant pink accents in the curtains. Roberts revealed that her favorite retreat within the home is the freestanding bathtub, which offers a space for relaxation and self-care.
In 2011, Roberts told uInterview exclusively about what she learned from her aunt , Julia Roberts .
“You know, we don’t really talk about [acting] very much; I have to say, it’s funny when I see her because we’re both so busy,” she said. “It’s really about just spending time together as family not as like, we’re both actresses, let’s talk about acting. So, it’s nice that we can separate the two and just hang out as a family and not worry about work.”

Emma Roberts Has A 'Doll Wall' Inside Her LA Home
And she wants it to come to life...
She might have starred in the 2019 film UglyDolls , but it turns out that Emma Roberts' connection to toys runs deeper than her acting credits. Roberts recently welcomed Architectural Digest into her $3.6 million Los Angeles home, where she lives with her three-year-old son Rhodes, who she shares with her ex Garrett Hedlund.
Roberts then revealed that she has done just that. 'I'm really excited to show you guys the doll wall. I’m madly obsessed with them — in love with them. I do love all of them,' she said, showing viewers the rows of shelves that housed her extensive collection. Her favourites include 'drunk cowgirl Barbie' and Blythe, a vintage US doll style that features an oversized head and large eyes that change colour with the pull of a string.
Her most recent addition is 'Leggy Jill', which she sought out for more than a year until her boyfriend bought it for her birthday. 'I took her out of the box, which he did not approve of,' she said. 'I take my dolls out of the box, which people get very up in arms about, but I feel like if you're gonna collect dolls, you may as well enjoy them.'
Dispelling any notion that she might find the dolls creepy, Roberts said: 'I hope that every night – that they’ll come wake me up. It would be so thrilling'. The house tour also included 'the start of a little Joni Mitchell shrine', a 'very fun mug collection' and plenty of maximalist details. 'I feel like there can never be enough stripes or fringe or tassels in a house,' she says. 'I know people would disagree, but I love it.'
On the contrary, many viewers filled the comments section with enthusiastic praise. 'Haha omg I love her house, and I'm not even half way through watching it,' wrote one. 'I especially love [...] the dolls. I never knew how cool Emma Roberts was.'

Emma Roberts' dolls are the real stars of her "storybook" L.A. home — here's how to create a similar display in your space
Creepy or charming, depending on who you ask, Emma Roberts' dolls have certainly got everyone's attention
If you have yet to become acquainted with Emma Roberts' dolls — Leggy Jill, Blythe, Drunk Cowgirl Barbie — you are missing the best part of her self-described "storybook" Los Angeles home.
The actor and Belletrist founder recently welcomed Architectural Digest into her Pierce & Ward-styled abode, and virtual visitors swooned over Emma's cozy, chic living room with calming neutrals, deep burgundy accent chairs, floral touches...and the unexpected doll collection next to her desk.
By far one of the most creative small living room office ideas , Emma's bookshelf of "dolly kins" has become a viral sensation overnight, so we asked designers how to create a dolly aesthetic of our own.
See Emma Roberts' dolls — and style your own collection to match
Charming or creepy, depending on who you ask, the ample collection puts a unique, retro spin on Barbiecore . Not the typical buys from the toy aisle, Emma's plastic pals are likely fun comic book store collectibles or secondhand store finds, according to Real Homes staff writer Eve Smallman .
If you've already assembled a small bevy of dolls like Emma, including some that have a whimsigoth decor edge, others with an antique twist, and others that are plain old hot messes (we're looking at you, Drunk Cowgirl Barbie.), we know exactly where you can start with displaying your collection.
1. Choose an aesthetic
"Decide on the theme or vibe you want to convey, whether it's vintage, eclectic, or whimsical, and choose dolls that reflect this aesthetic," suggests designer Nina Lichtenstein . "Mix and match different types of dolls, such as vintage porcelain dolls, handmade cloth dolls, or modern art dolls, to create an intriguing and cohesive display."
Just like when you look for easy upgrades for a small living room , you'll want a mixture of fabrics, the same way you'd opt for a variety of dollies.

"Look for dolls with interesting features, unique costumes, or historical significance," Nina adds. "Pay attention to details such as scale, color palette, and overall composition to create a visually appealing arrangement."
2. Find a good display area
The next step is finding a suitable area to display them. Emma has creatively chosen to place her dolls next to her desk and mood board, adding a statement-maker to her makeshift office area.
"Consider placing [your display] on a dedicated shelf, mantelpiece, or in a glass cabinet to protect the dolls from dust and direct sunlight," Nina adds. "Position the display in a prominent yet harmonious location where it can serve as a focal point without overpowering the surrounding decor."
Peruse our favorite cute bookshelves for small spaces to display your toys. If you really want to add to the charm, you can select a shelf from an antique store or build a bookshelf of your own.
3. Add personal touches
What works particularly well about Emma's collection is that there are personal stories and meaning behind each find. Up the ante with heirlooms and the like.
"Incorporate decorative elements such as framed artwork, floral arrangements, or vintage books to enhance the overall ambiance," Nina adds. "Consider displaying family heirlooms or personal mementos alongside the dolls to create a personalized and meaningful vignette."
If you're one for home DIY project ideas , why not take things back to yesteryear and dress your dollies?
"You could even give them a makeover, dressing them up in outfits to match your home decor," Eve suggests. "Hey, who said you're too old for that?"

Inside Emma Roberts’s Charming Los Angeles Home
Today, AD is welcomed by Emma Roberts to tour her charming Los Angeles home. When The American Horror Story star and her son moved into their new home, she enlisted AD100’s Pierce & Ward to work their magic on the space. Rich florals and luxurious velvets pair with vintage furniture creating a cozy environment for Roberts to kick back and relax. Roberts was excited at the idea of making her very own grown-up dollhouse and with an extensive doll collection, her home has become just that. Ready for a new chapter in her new home, Roberts couldn’t be happier with how the space turned out. “I have a picture of the day we moved in,” Roberts says, smiling. “I’m holding him and it was the most sunny California day, and we were in front of the blue door of our new house. I just remember feeling like we are exactly where we need to be.”See more of Emma Roberts's LA home here Shop pieces inspired by Emma Roberts's LA home:https://www.architecturaldigest.com/shopping/emma-roberts-open-doorWhen you buy something through our retail links, we earn an affiliate commission.

Emma Roberts, Let Ryan Murphy Film a Horror Movie in Your Home
Sometimes the scariest movies are the ones you least expect. The 1999 film Audition , for example, begins as a romance and devolves into a terrifying horror film filled with torture porn. Similarly, the Emma Roberts Architectural Digest house tour begins pleasantly enough before devolving into a frightening example of a type of madness likely to render you an insomniac for the rest of the week. The video begins auspiciously enough: Roberts is talking about her living room. There is a terrifying, doll-faced pillow on one chair, but that’s fine, there are also flowers. But then she says something ominous: “It’s a grown-up doll house.” What could that mean? Well … meet Emma Roberts’s dolls, a collection of plastic and ceramic freaks.
“These are the dollykins,” Roberts says, after shoving a desk aside to get an “optimal looks at the dolls.” She then introduces the audience to her crew of misfits, who have clearly scrambled her brain with their dark toy magic because she claims multiple are her favorite and multiple were her first. There’s Leggy Jill (ah! Why so long?) and drunk-cowgirl Barbie (scary eyes!), and, most terrifyingly, Blythe, a Wednesday Addams–like doll who has an eery emptiness behind her eyes. Roberts has two of these. The rest of the tour features doll faces popping up with no comment. They are wine corks, cups in the bathroom, they’re on bookcases, on mugs, they’re wall art, and dear God, all of their eyes follow you even though this is a video and that can’t possibly be true. It’s high time that Roberts invites Ryan Murphy into her home to film a horror movie or perhaps a season of American Horror Story: Dolls . We just think that would be— Ah! What was that? Was that one of the dolls?

Emma Roberts' L.A. Home Has ‘Doll Wall’ She Hopes Will ‘Come to Life’ — See Inside!
“I loved the idea of making my very own grown-up dollhouse,” the ‘AHS: Delicate’ star says
Natalia Senanayake is an Editorial Assistant, Lifestyle at PEOPLE. She covers all things travel and home, from celebrities' luxury mansions to breaking travel news.
Emma Roberts ’ Los Angeles home is like a real-life dollhouse!
The Holidate actress, 33, called on designers Pierce & Ward to bring her vision to life inside her enchanting abode, she tells Architectural Digest during an interview for their May 2024 issue.
“Minimalism is not my strong suit. Every house I’ve ever lived in feels a little bit like a cabinet of curiosities,” she tells the outlet, adding, “I loved the idea of making my very own grown-up dollhouse.”
During a video tour of her home, Roberts emphasizes that she really wanted to create a home base for her and her three-year-old son Rhodes — whom she shares with ex Garrett Hedlund — that’s “filled with our memories and our love.”
Architectural Digest/YouTube
Inside the eclectic space, Roberts reveals her unique “doll wall” located near her office area. Each shelf is filled with her collectibles from her childhood and things she found as an adult.
“I’m really excited to show you guys the doll wall,” she says, gesturing to her “drunk cowgirl” Barbie and Blythe dolls. “I’m madly obsessed with them — in love with them. I do love all of them,” she adds.
In true American Horror Story fashion (Roberts currently stars in Delicate , the 12th season of the FX show), the actress says she would love it if her dolls could “come to life” in the middle of the night.
“I hope that every night — that they’ll come wake me up. It would be so thrilling,” she shares.
Michael P. H. Clifford/Architectural Digest
Meanwhile in the living room, Roberts says she loved the idea of matching the fireplace to her striped armchairs.
“I feel like there can never be enough stripes or fringe or tassels in a house,” she says. “I know people would disagree, but I love it.”
She says the most time is spent in the TV room, where her son’s toys can be found in addition to mementos from her own childhood. More dolls adorn the shelves and her former “timeout chair” from when she was a kid has proved to be a great conversation starter.
“And then we have what is the start of a little Joni Mitchell shrine, dare I say,” she adds. “I just love her so much.”
Roberts then brings viewers into the kitchen, which is equipped with a center island that she shares “makes it so fun to hang out in here.” The space is also home to her favorite vintage cereal ads and another one of her beloved collections.
“I have a very fun mug collection. I love Halloween, I love witches — so these were a must for me,” she adds, showing off some of her cherished pieces.
Never miss a story — sign up for PEOPLE's free daily newsletter to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from juicy celebrity news to compelling human interest stories.
In the primary suite, Roberts wanted to include florals and pink tones wherever she could. One of her favorite design details in the space is her bed’s headboard that matches perfectly to the drapes, making it look like “one big painting.”
Her bathroom mirrors a similar palette with the “pomegranate-colored” tiles and “pops of pink” in the curtains. The freestanding bathtub makes it her favorite room to “decompress” in and take some time for herself, she adds.
As for her outdoor space, Roberts says she was immediately drawn to the rocks placed all around the pool as she didn’t want “your typical, sleek pool area.” She says it reminds her of jumping off of rocks as a kid.

Emma Roberts is next-level kooky. The kind of kooky where if she were to have human eyeballs in her basement, I wouldn't be surprised. The kind of kooky that explains a disturbing attachment to an ant farm residing in her wardrobe.
Watch: Holiday mistakes that attract burglars. Post continues after video.
That's not to say I don't dig it. In fact, I love it. I'm even willing to say that I would possibly consent to sleeping in her haunted house — under very specific stipulations, of course (the main one being that I make it out alive).
For all of you who have not had the privilege and the honour of watching Roberts' Architectural Digest house tour as of yet, you probably don't really understand what I'm yapping on about.

Alas, I'm here to show and tell you all about it.
Roberts starts by showing us her living room, a space that celebrity designers Louisa Pierce and Emily Ward from Pierce and Ward took to styling. It is a mix of old and new with a lot of maximalist features like vintage suitcases, a striped fireplace, and a sofa that looks like the inside of my mattress (read: comfortable ).
I'm not an expert, but this room definitely gets my tick of approval, but only because this space is near the entryway of the home and if I were a new guest, I would not yet know of the horrors about to unfold.
Next, the actor shows us her bar which is all very "vintage" and lovely and sweet before we move into her office area which is where the scary s**t really begins to unravel.
First of all, the woman has an inspiration board with herself on it.
Oh, maybe you missed it?
It's a power move, so I won't rag on it too much, but there is something seriously sinister going on in the background. For a moment, you think Roberts might ignore the dozens of eyes staring daggers into her back.
Instead, she does something oddly surprising.
"I'm really excited to show you guys," Roberts says before shuffling her desk over to bring us face-to-face with her wall of... dolls.
Yes, dolls. No, not like in Annabelle but close! The one with the terrifying, hollow eyes is actually called 'Blythe' who Roberts says is her "favourite", her "original girl" and "the reason I fell in love with dolls".
Essentially, 'Blythe' horrifies me but she is only one of many, many dolls that Roberts has.
The thing is, she's probably not even the scariest by a mile, because honestly...
What.
This????????????? This is DEEPLY cursed.
"I heard about her and thought she didn't really exist and she was a joke but it turns out she does exist and she's just amazing," she tells us about 'drunk Barbie'. "Look at her. She's having the time of her life."
Well, I'm glad she is because I am certainly not. Alas, we must move on because in case you forgot, Roberts is a child star-turned-successful-adult-actor and therefore, she is rich enough to afford a compound.
She takes us to her "TV room" which is about as rich as it gets.
It's stunning, there's not much to say. The woman loves her antiques.
And it looks very cosy, classy, rich, stuffy, etc. etc.
Next is her three-year-old son Rhode's room, which is... fantastic and a little eerie with all the dark colours, but nonetheless beautiful.
One point that became clear to me after the actor said she kept her "time out chair" from when she was a kid in the living room next to her son's toy chest and then later told us that she also has a kiddy stool with her name on it from almost about 30 years ago in Rhodes' room, is that she doesn't know what a storage unit is.
God bless her.
Later, she shows us the "primary suite" aka where she sleeps... and if I'm being honest, it is a much less cool version of her son's bedroom.
There are some curtains, and some gingham-print pillows (which I thought we got rid of after The Block 2022 ???). It's all a little underwhelming following Roberts' impeccably maintained kiddy stool.
Nevertheless, I've learned a lot about Emma Roberts following her house tour with Architectural Digest.
I've learned she adores flowers, she's obsessed with her childhood toys and trinkets and that her home is a perfect representation of who she is on the inside: kooky.
To that I say, bravo Miss Roberts.

A behind the scenes inside look at actress Emma Roberts' incredible $3.6 million dollar home in Hollywood Hills
Spencer See
Emma Roberts has made a name for herself in Hollywood with several notable projects under her belt. She starred in successful TV series Scream Queens and American Horror Story . Furthermore, Roberts also starred in some films such as We’re the Millers, Nerve, Wild Child, Aquamarine, Valentine’s Day, and many others. Roberts has a Teen Choice Award and a MTV Movie Award. Well, wonder no more.
This article features Emma Roberts’ $3.6 million home in Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, California.
In 2022, Roberts starred in a pair of films including About Fate and Abandoned. But around the same year, she fancied a Hollywood Hills home, which turned out to be the former residence of Good Will Hunting star Minnie Driver. Originally constructed in 1940, Roberts’ home sits on 0.48 acres of land. The home encompasses 2,730 square feet of living space. It includes three bedrooms and four bathrooms. The Hollywood Hills abode features a spacious living room with a fireplace and a mini library, a family room, a gourmet kitchen equipped with high quality appliances, a sizable dining area, and a master bedroom that features a complete bathroom and a dressing room.
While the home’s interior has been great, Roberts should have no problem enjoying the outdoors as well. The property’s backyard features a decent sized swimming pool with a spa, an outdoor pavilion, and plenty of green spaces filled with grass, plants, and trees which are ideal for gardening.
Roberts is one of the most accomplished actresses in the industry. As a result, it isn’t a surprise that the MTV Movie Award winner can afford to live in a luxurious home like this one. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Roberts has a net worth of around $25 million .
Aside from the Hollywood Hills home, Roberts used to own a Los Angeles home, which she sold for $1.25 million to Sarah Paulson. Furthermore, the MTV Movie Award winner also used to own a Laughlin Park property, which she earned $5.9 million in revenues.
Nevertheless, this is all the information that we have on Emma Roberts’ $3.6 million home in Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, California.

Emma Roberts Always Carries a Photo of Her Son
Released on 08/16/2024
This is my son's first school photo.
This photo just absolutely killed me
'cause he never smiles for me
and picture day he was really into, so.
He cannot leave the house without Honey Bear.
It's this little like Slumberkins stuffed animal.
I noticed that after having a kid like you buy them
all this like really amazing like special, unique stuff.
And then whatever they get attached to is always so random.
But we've had to buy now four honey bears
because Honey Bear did get thrown into a river once.
We were like throwing rocks into the river
and he threw Honey Bear into the river.
So I panicked and was then very grateful
that I could order Honey Bear for overnight shipping.
This brightens my day every time I see it.
