Girls Weekend away… After reading some wonderful reviews on Tripadvisor we decided to hire the services of Yarra Valley Winery Tours. We were staying in the Yarra Valley and were picked up, driven to all our destinations and returned to our accommodation after a wonderful lunch at Tokar Estate. All we had to do was turn up and taste. I would thoroughly recommend their services.

Great day out From the minute we were picked up, our guide/driver David made us all at home, and he is very knowledgeable on wine and the local area. We were lucky that we had two other great couples with us for the day. I think the smaller group made for a better day. We didn’t do all of the big vineyards and that was the charm of the day. My partner and I had the best time on Paul’s wine tour. Paul was a great host, not only did he drive us from vineyard to vineyard but he knew a lot about the wines, the areas we were in and the different types of wine each vineyard had to offer – to our taste.

We are thrilled to announce that the incredibly talented Yarra Valley winemaker Sarah Fagan will commence as the Tarrawarra Estate Winemaker on Monday 11th September.

Sarah brings twenty years of winemaking experience and a love for our beautiful region from a long and loyal tenure at De Bortoli Yarra Valley, where she joined as a casual vintage worker in 2003 and progressed through the ranks to her most recent role as Senior Winemaker.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my journey at De Bortoli and I am proud of the wines we have made over my time of working with their vineyards. TarraWarra Estate has always carved its own independent path here in the Yarra Valley and I look forward to continuing this tradition and embracing change and the development of TarraWarra Estate into the future”, says Sarah.

Tarrawarra Estate, was founded by Eva and Marc Besen in 1983 and the family philosophy has always been rooted in respect for excellence, provenance, and sustainability, with the vision to ‘produce wines of great quality and integrity, amidst a location of beauty and welcome.’ Sarah will be responsible for all aspects of Tarrawarra Estate winemaking and winery operations. As an experienced wine judge, with a refined palate and particular appreciation for cool-climate winemaking from regions all over the world, she is perfectly placed to deliver on the philosophy and drive Tarrawarra Estate’s wines to a new level of success and recognition. This Victorian producer was just crowned Australia's top winery of 2024

It's the fourth year in a row our passionate winemakers have nabbed the number one spot

Planning a trip to the Yarra Valley ? You'll definitely want to stop at Yarra Yering , which has just received the prestigious Winery of the Year Australia award for 2024. The  Real Review, o ne of Australia’s leading authorities in wine, has just unveiled its highly anticipated annual rankings list and it's the fourth year in a row that a Victorian winery has taken out the top spot. And i t's not the first time Yarra Yering has taken the crown, having won it back in 2021.  Cheers to them!

“Achieving ‘Winery of the Year Australia’ status for the second time is a testament to winemaker Sarah Crowe’s exceptional talent, the hard work of the vineyard team led by Andrew George, and the consistent outstanding calibre of wines that Yarra Yering deliver year after year, ” says the Real Review’s principal wine writer Huon Hooke. 

“ In the 2024 ranking, several of Yarra Yering’s wines separated them from the pack, including its Carrodus Cabernet Sauvignon 2021, which achieved a jaw-dropping 99 points, its stellar 2022 Chardonnay and its famous Dry Red Wine No 1 Cabernet Blend.”

We'll take a case of each, please. And maybe the vino-tasting job, too? Each year, a panel of the nation's top critics try more than 10,000 wines – but their final decision isn't made lightly. T o ensure consistency, the ranking is determined by a proprietary algorithm, which considers the rating and recency of reviews by the Real Review’s panel over two years. 

Completing the top five of this year’s list is Henschke in second place (Eden Valley, South Australia), Wine by Farr in third (Geelong, Victoria), Penfolds in fourth (South Australia) and Oakridge  in fifth (Yarra Valley, Victoria), which was last year's winner.
