Monaco sits on the glamorous French Riviera and is known for being a small principality headed by the Prince of Monaco. The principality stretches for two square kilometers but what it may lack in size it certainly makes up for in style. This is one of the most affluent spots in the world as well as being blessed with an abundance of nature.

Lined with blue seas, the warm climate here is the perfect weather for the palm trees that dot the lanes and you will find exotic flowers and lush vegetation galore. One of the best known areas of the principality is The Rock or Le Rocher which is a large rocky bluff which is also the home of the main part of the city called Monaco-Ville. Easily accessible from neighboring Nice in France, this is the place to come for glitz and glamour, and if you fancy trying your luck then you can spend time in the casinos here and cultivate your inner James Bond.

1. Tour the Palais du Prince

Monaco is known for being a principality and you can see this first hand at the Palais du Prince.

The palace sits high above Monaco and dates from the 13th century when it would have been a Genoese fortress.

You can visit the palace when the Prince is not in residence, and an easy way to tell is to look for the flag in the main tower.

If it is raised then it means that the Prince is at home.

Some of the highlights of a visit include the gallery modeled in the Italianate style, as well as the Blue Room which is known for its blue and gold decorations.

There is also an ornate Throne Room and a Palatine Chapel.

2. Visit the Monte Carlo Casino

The Casino de Monte Carlo is one of the most famous casinos in the world, particularly as it was built in the flamboyant Beaux Arts style in 1893. The marble atrium is similarly lavish in style and you will find 28 onyx columns that welcome you to the Gaming Rooms.

Fans of James Bond are certain to enjoy the scenery, as this is said to have been the setting for the James Bond novel Casino Royale.

There are different gaming rooms here that are decorated in a variety of themes, but make sure you look up and take in the chandeliers and the stunning artwork as you try your luck.

3. Visit the Musée Oceanographique

The Musée Oceanographique is 90 meters above sea level and it took 11 years to construct the foundations that stop the museum toppling to the ground.

It was officially opened in 1910 which makes it one of the oldest aquariums in the world and is dedicated to marine artifacts and oceanography.

One of the signature sections of the museum is the collection of scientific items that date from an exploration undertaken by Prince Albert I as well as Jacques-Yves Cousteau.

There are also three aquariums here including a Mediterranean Aquarium, a Tropical Aquarium, and a Shark Lagoon.

There are over 6,000 marine life creatures here and 100 different pools that are designed to mimic their natural environment include reconstructed coral reefs.

Younger visitors can enjoy a dedicated touch tank to get up close to critters like sea urchins, starfish, and baby sharks.

4. Walk around Jardin Exotique

Located in Fontvieille just outside of the city center is the Jardin Exotique.

This garden sits high on a towering bluff that looks out over the ocean and you will find lush surroundings coupled with stunning vistas.

The garden first opened its doors in 1933 and you will find a surprising mix of plants including African and Latin American species that grow here due to the warm weather.

There are 7,000 species of plants on show and you can also explore an Observatory Cave that is covered in stalactites and stalagmites.

5. Visit the Monaco Cathedral

Monaco Cathedral stands out because of the white stones that were used in its construction.

Built in the Roman-Byzantine style, the cathedral houses the remains of the former princes of Monaco including Prince Rainier.

The cathedral was built in 1875 although some of the artifacts inside are older such as an altar piece which was painted in 1500. Other items to look out for include a grand organ as well as the main throne which is carved from white marble.

6. Sunbathe at Larvotto Beach

Close to the iconic Avenue Princess Grace is Larvotto Beach which is also the only public beach in the principality.

The beach is surrounded by nets so that swimmers can bathe without the fear of jellyfish or if you prefer to stay out of the water then you can sunbathe on the strip of golden sand.

Water sports are popular here including jet skiing and sea kayaking.

7. Wander around Les Jardins Saint-Martin

Les Jardins Saint-Martin look over the sparkling Mediterranean Sea below and are known for a memorial statue of Prince Albert I. The gardens skirt along the coast and take you along the Le Rocher coastline.

The flowers here are both indigenous and exotic thanks to the warm Mediterranean climate that helps them to grow.

You can go for a wander around the gardens and check out the dainty pools, pretty fountains, and stunning views over the azure waters.

8. Watch a race at the Formula One Monaco Grand Prix

Monte Carlo is known for its Formula One Races that take place every year in May.

What makes the race so special is that it cuts through the streets of the city past Boulevard Albert I and past the famous Monte-Carlo Fairmont Hotel.

The race has an illustrious place in history and has been in operation since the beginning of the 20th century and it is definitely worth attending if you should happen to be in Monaco at the right time.

9. Have a drink at Quay Jean Charles Rey

Quay Jean Charles Rey sits on the water and is located on the other side of Le Rocher.

It is known for being a scenic place to have a drink and you will find a range of cafes and eateries overlooking the quay here including oddities like a traditional English pub.

If you are looking for a good way to end a busy day in Monaco then this makes a great choice for a sundowner.

10. Watch a show at the Opera de Monte Carlo

Also known as Salle Garnier, the Opera de Monte Carlo is located on the iconic Place de Casino which is the most famous spot in all of Monaco.

The opera house was built in 1878 and its main performance space is covered in pretty red and gold decorations.

You will also find ornate carvings here in the form of frescoes and sculptures and if you like opera, ballet, or musical concerts then don’t miss the chance to catch a show in this opulent setting.

11. Visit the Monaco Naval Museum

Looking over the marina in Monaco is the Monaco Naval Museum which first opened its doors in the 1990s and has a range of maritime related memorabilia including over 250 ships in model form.

Many of the items on display here belonged to Prince Rainier III and were donated to the museum from his private collection.

The museum takes you back in time with a look at Roman ships, traditional Viking longboats, and graceful Spanish galleons.

There is even a model of the Titanic as well as the Nimitz, a US warship that is also the largest in the world.

12. Tour Monaco Harbor

Located at the base of Monaco’s famous blustery cliffs is the main harbor of Monaco.

Yachts bob on the water and the harbor, which is also known as Port de la Condamine, dates from 1901. The Prince’s main yacht is located here as well as those of many moneyed Monaco residents, so this is a top spot to check out these amazing vessels, even if you don’t get to go aboard.

Nestled inside two villas is the Nouveau Musee National de Monaco.

The buildings here are all illuminated at night and include the world-famous casino as well as the Hotel de Paris and the opera house.

17. Admire the Collection de Voitures Anciennes

Located in Fontvielle is the Collection of Voitures Anciennes which is an exhibition featuring some of the private cars in the collection of the Prince of Monaco.

There are around 100 cars and models and many of these are vintage vehicles from Europe or America.

There is also a display of old fashioned coaches here and car-enthusiasts should make sure not to miss this spot off the itinerary.

18. Explore the Jardin Japonais

You may not think of a traditional Japanese garden when you think of Monaco but this is exactly what you will find on a bluff to the east of the principality.

Here you can tour a typical Zen garden which is covered in pretty plants as well as water features and stone work.

The park stretches for 7,000 meters and has an idyllic waterfall as well as a babbling brook.

There is even a strip of beach here if you are looking to spend some time in one of the quieter spots in Monaco.

19. Admire the Musee de la Chapelle de la Visitation

Another museum located on Le Rocher is the Musee de la Chapelle de la Visitation.

The spot marks the site of the Chapelle de la Visitation which is a baroque chapel that dates from the 17th century and has now been made into a museum where you can take in a range of galleries dedicated to religious art work and scripture.

Some of the other highlights here include a range of paintings by some of the most famous Italian masters.

Fort Antonie is a military fortification which has now been transformed into a stunning outdoor theater space.

In the summer months you can watch a range of performances here and the main area can seat up to 350 spectators at one time.

22. Watch a match at Louis II Stadium

Monaco may not seem big enough to have its own sports venue but it does in the form of the Louis II Stadium.

The Old Town of Monaco is essentially centered on ‘Le Rocher’ which means ‘The Rock’ and is a labyrinth of charming little alleyways that date from the middle ages.

As well as its wealth Monaco is also known for its fine dining which is understandable given the clientele.

Some of the most expensive yet delicious food in the world can be found here and some of Monaco’s famous restaurants include the Le Louis XV Restaurant (a three Michelin starred venue) as well as the Joel Robuchon Monte Carlo which has two Michelin stars.

There are several other restaurants that have one Michelin star and if you want to splurge on a decadent meal then this is certainly the place to do it.

25. Walk around Fontvieille Park

Fontvieille Park eventually leads to the Princess Grace Memorial Rose garden, although it is worth a visit in its own right.

The park sits on reclaimed land and is one of the best loved green spaces in the whole of Monaco.

Hercule harbour in Monaco

   A short History

By 1901, Prince Albert 1st had already marked his reign with the realisation of a number of important projects, the Oceanographic Museum, a hospital, a modern sanitation system etc, when it became apparent that the Principality needed a harbour, able to accommodate the large number of yachts that visited the Côte d'Azur and to help open up the commerce of the area.

The construction of a port would complete the modernisation of the Principality and would at the same time be an important new source of prosperity. In order to maximize the space available, it was decided to build two quays, which still serve as the main walles of the harbour today. The work started on the 2nd July 1901.

The rock needed for the construction of the quays was taken from an area next to the sea, to the east of Cap Ferrat in the Bay of Lilong, five miles to the West of Monaco. The project was completed in 1926.

The port is located in the heart of the district of the Condamine, and nearby all shopping and leisure facilities.

Harbour organisation

The organisation of the harbour includes three sections : - Administration : reception, account, telephone, secretariat . - Pilots : pilotage, moorings. - Maintenance of the harbour and control of marine pollution. Covering 16 hectares, there is anchorage for up to 550 vessels including some of large tonnage. The depth of water (7 meters along the quays and 9 meters along the pier in front of the swimming pool) allows berthing of vessels up to 135 meters in length. The port is located in the heart of the district of the Condamine, and nearby all shopping and leisure facilities.

When approaching the port of Hercule, please call the authorities on VHF Channel 12 , giving the name of your ship, her length and beam and the required duration of your stay. This will allow us to meet your requests. A Welcome: Quay at the base of the green, starboard, harbour light is available to boats of less than 15 meters length.

1st May to 13 th September from 08.00 AM to 11.00 PM 1st October to 30 th April from 08.00 AM to 08.00 PM

Due to its configuration and depth, the Port d'Hercule does not have fixed moorings. To hold the bow of your vessel, it will be necessary to caste at least one anchor. Should you enter the Port during the night when the pilot station is closed, please berth along-side the Welcome Quay, provided the weather is suitable and your vessel is less than 15 meters in length. If there are some vacant moorings please berth preferably at the Chicane Quay or at the Quaides Etatss berth suitable for your vessel will be assigned the next morning. It is not possible to reserve a berth in advance, however if you have a large vessel and wish to berth in Port d'Hercule please contact 24 hours in advance the Pilot Station on VHF Channel 12 .

   Administrative procedure

Within 24 hours of berthing the ship's captain or owner must report to the direction des Ports producing the Admittance Form, duly completed together with ship's papers and pay the necessary harbour fees. A receipt will be given and this should be retained as it is liable to be produced on demand. The Direction des Ports is closed on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. You are requested to report to the Pilot Station on those days.

Upon arrival you will be handed a " fiche de police" by an officer of the Maritime Police. Kindly return it legibly completed to : 14, quai Antoine 1er MC 98000 MONACO

A mail service is available at the Port Authority offices. For any stay over 48 hours, a touch-tone telephone can be made available. Cruise ships of all sizes include a visit to the tiny territory of Monaco , and its famous city, Monte Carlo. Here’s what I think are the best things to do in Monte Carlo on your own. There’s no need to spend a fortune on a shore excursion.

What to Do in Monte Carlo, Monaco on a Cruise Day

If you’re like me and most American tourists, the difference between Monaco and Monte-Carlo isn’t clear. Monaco, first ruled by the House of Grimaldi in 1297, continues to be a mecca for the rich and famous. Before you set out to explore, you should know the four districts that comprise the Principality of Monaco.

• Monaco-Ville (the old city) is the historic seat of the Principality and is located high above the harbor, near the Prince’s Palace.
• La Condamine is home to many Monegasque (long-time Monaco descendants) and French, near the cruise port.
• Fontivielle is a new industrial part of the territory.
• Monte-Carlo, the area surrounding the landmark Monte Carlo Casino.

No matter how you arrive into Monaco, you can’t miss “The Rock;” just look up. It’s the oldest area of the Principality of Monaco. Because of steps and hilly paths, be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes if you plan to go exploring in this chic, seaside and sparklingly clean city.

Before you start out au pied, be aware that from the harbor, everything is uphill. There are sloping walks, modern elevators built into the rock (this is Monaco after all) and hundreds of stone steps. If mobility is an issue, take your ship’s tour, hire a driver or try a swanky city bus near the harbor.

With my most comfortable walking shoes and a bottle of water, I set out to explore the fabulous cruise port of Monaco. Here are my choices of not-to-be-missed places.

Visit the Prince’s Palace

An 8 Euro ticket will get you into the Prince’s Palace for a 40 minute guided tour of this 13th century castle. Time your arrival to coincide with the changing of the guard at 11:55am every day, before you begin your tour. Chances are that you won’t see any of the Grimaldi family, but the tour is definitely worth the few Euros for admission.

Walk to Monaco Cathedral

Located on Avenue St. Martin, view the towering 19th Century Cathedral of Immaculate Conception (also called the Monte Carlo Cathedral) that contains the tombs of Princess Grace and Prince Ranier.

Built in 1875, the cathedral houses an altarpiece dating from 1500 by artist Louis Brea as well as a delicately carved Carrara white marble Episcopal throne. Admission is free.

Spend Time at the Oceanographic Museum

Like many other structures in this horizontally-challenged city, the Musée Océanographique and Aquarium is actually built into the side of a cliff.

As I walked up the stairs from the cruise port up to the top of the “Rock,” I was in shock to see this ornate stone building just simply perched there over the sea.

The Oceanographic Museum is home to thousands of sea creatures, including sharks, turtles, and tropical fish.

Stroll Through this Exotic Garden

Opened in 1933 and overlooking the waterfront, it’s a short walk downhill from Old Monaco to reach this sprawling, cantilevered botanical park.

Stroll through the winding pathways amid lush grounds overlooking the sea, that showcase the world’s largest collection of succulent and cactus plants, a variety of trees and thousands of colorful flowers.

Maybe you’ll want experience a tour of the underground grottoes and connecting caves. For a small admission fee, you’ll see a subterranean wonderland, with dozens of stalagmites, illuminated by tiny twinkling lights.

Buried in the caves are archeological finds from Cro-Magnon dwellers.

Try Your Luck at the Casino

Most of all, don’t miss this iconic Monte Carlo landmark. Built in 1865 and literally saved the city from ruin, is the magnificent Monte Carlo Casino. You don’t have to bet a year’s wages, but you can go inside and imagine you’re living in the Belle Epoque.

Sadly, no cameras are allowed inside to photograph the elaborate frescoes and Rococo ceilings.

While the high rollers have their own private gaming area, tourists are welcome to try their luck, too but only in a section of the casino which opens in the mid-afternoon through the wee hours. You will need to dress up if you plan to visit the Casino in the evening.

Stop and See the Monte Carlo Opera House

After a visit to the Casino, walk around back and see the ornately carved exterior of the adjoining Opera House, opened in 1879. It was built by Charles Garnier who several years later, also designed the much larger Paris Opera House.

Drive the Grand Corniche

No, not the car. Instead, take a scenic drive along the Grand Corniche. It’s a scenic road that offers stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea and the French Riviera. You can take a drive or a guided tour along the road to take in the beautiful views.

Make it a Beach Day

Monte Carlo is more than luxury shopping and gambling. There are several beautiful beaches where you can relax and soak up the sun. Larvotto Beach is the most popular beach in Monte Carlo and is a great spot for swimming, sunbathing, and water sports.

Party Time!

I just happened to stumble on the exotically chic Buddha Bar as I was wandering around outside the Café de Paris. Stop in for cocktails, dinner and disco until late at night.

It’s located to the left, as you face the Hotel. With the already steep prices in Monte Carlo, why not take advantage of the nightly Happy Hour from 6-8pm. The least expensive Happy Hour drink will soak you for a mere 12 Euro.

With such a perfect harbor, excellent location on the Med and a stellar reputation for safety, it doesn’t surprise me with the amount of cruise ships that stop by (and some stay overnight) every season.

The world’s top-ranked golfer is dominating the PGA Tour. Scottie Scheffler won the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Monday morning following a weather delay and restart late Sunday—his fourth win in his last five starts. He added a tartan plaid jacket to his second green jacket at The Masters , which followed wins at The Players Championship and Arnold Palmer Invitational .

Scheffler carded an 8 under par 63 on Saturday to take a 1-stroke lead over Sepp Straka and 2 strokes ahead of his final round playing partner at The Masters, Collin Morikwa. Both those players shot a 1 over par 72 in the final round to fall back.

Scheffler entered Sunday’s final round as the -165 favorite on FanDuel Sportsbook to win the tournament with Straka and Morikawa both +650 and Masters runner-up Ludvig Aberg +1100 sitting 3 shots behind. Scottie was +450 to win at the start of the RBC Heritage .

Golf’s 27-year-old superstar was 3 under par through 11 holes Sunday and 19 under par with a 4-shot lead over six players when play was suspended before resuming 2 1/2 hours later at 7 p.m. ET. Scheffler played three more holes and took a 5-stroke lead into Sunday evening as play was suspended for darkness.

Early Monday he finished off the $20 million signature event with a 3-shot victory at 19 under par to earn another $3.6 million and take his season total to over $18 million. His bogey on the 18th hole ended a streak of 68 consecutive holes at par or better. Sahith Theegala finished second while Patrick Cantlay and Wyndham Clark T3 and Justin Thomas part of a 4-way tie for fifth.

Justin Ray, golf Lead Data Analyst, added a number of posts on X to show Scheffler’s run of dominance. Beyond Scottie being the last player since Tiger Woods in 2008 to win four times in a five-start stretch on the PGA Tour, this post about Scheffler holding the lead following a round 31 times on Tour the past three seasons speaks to Scottie’s spectacular play and dominance. The next closest player to have led or co-led following a round is 16 times.

Scheffler ramains the No. 1 ranked player in the Official World Golf Rankings for the 49th consecutive week. His win at Harbour Town was also the 10th of his career on Tour. It took him 51 tournaments to win his 10th PGA Tour title following his first win. Tiger Woods did it in 59 events with David Duval the fastest from wins 1 to 10 at 33 starts.

Scheffler’s strokes gained stats are simply staggering. Scheffler ranks No. 1 in SG: Total, Tee to Green, Approach, No. 2 Off the Tee and top-10 Around the Green. He’s continued to win despite ranking outside the top 150 in SG: Putting. Scheffler gained more than a stroke both off the tee and on approach shots in his first three rounds at Harbour Town. He has done this in 27.2% of his rounds over the last three seasons. The rest of the PGA Tour has done it 4.7% of the time.

Scheffler then finished off another victory with a strong performance on Sunday at Harbour Town that included this chip-in for eagle from 53 feet off the front right short rough on the Par 5 at hole No. 2.

He’s now played 40 rounds in 2024 and has yet to shoot a round over par. It’s 44 in a row dating back to last year’s Tour Championship in August. Tiger Woods currently holds the Tour record at 52 rounds shooting par or better, which he set during the 2000-01 season.

Scheffler’s desire to win and determination to be the best is shining through despite any pressure that may mount. He’s nearly locked up 2024 PGA Tour Player of the Year honors before the end of April, and commented on his play and performances following rounds 3 and 4 while dealing with any added pressure.

Internally, do you feel less pressure compared to a few months ago when you're out there playing?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: It's tough to answer. I mean, I talked about it a bit at the end of last week. I really love winning, and I don't really like losing at all. It's one of those things where I try to manage the expectations of myself, kind of get that stuff out of the way and then go out there and compete.

Scheffler also added 700 FedEx Cup Playoffs Points to his total by winning the Signature Event at the RBC Heritage. He tops the points list with 3,915 - more than double Wyndham Clark (1,892) with Xander Schauffele, Ludvig Aberg and Sahith Theegala next at more than 1,500 points.

Scheffler is scheduled to compete in the Wells Fargo Championship May 9-12 at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, NC - another $20 million Signature Event. He should be a first-time father by then with wife Meredith expecting their child very soon.

“I definitely will enjoy the birth of my first child, and my priorities will change very soon, so golf will be fourth in line, but I still love competing,” he said last Sunday in the Butler Cabin at The Masters .

He competed at the highest level again without a letdown to win the RBC Heritage. Scheffler will enter the next major as the +450 favorite at the PGA Championship May 16-19 at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, KY. FanDuel Sportsbook also has Scheffler at +6500 odds to win the Grand Slam and all four majors this year.

Scottie Scheffler is showing no signs of letdown and fans and bettors continue to support him despite ultra-low odds to win not seen since Tiger Wood’s dominance.

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Scottie Scheffler wasn’t supposed to win the RBC Heritage.

Scheffler did it anyway, and no other outcome seemed plausible after two holes of the final round. Generational superstars make the remarkable look routine, like it was always destined to happen, but make no mistake, that’s not normal, no matter how Scheffler made it appear.

The world No. 1 looked at ease as he fired a final-round 68 to win the RBC Heritage by three shots. He entered the fourth round up by one, but after a miraculous eagle chip-in on No. 2 that Scheffler made look mundane, it was about over. The final 16 holes were a formality, a slow coronation for King Scheffler that thunderstorms pushed to Monday. Scheffler played his final three holes Monday morning, capping it with a meaningless bogey on 18.

“We've seen people do this over the years as far as excellence for time, over a little bit of time,” Max Homa said. “His seems to be sustained a bit longer than I can remember from a lot of people. It's not utterly shocking what he does. He just does it over and over and over again.

“That's amazing. … He almost makes it seem very realistic that we should do that.”

Homa’s quote wasn’t from Sunday. He said it Wednesday, less than 24 hours before the tournament began, and that assessment is even more true now than it was then.

Scheffler made two bogeys or worse all week – the first was a double bogey on the third hole of his first round. The second came on the 72nd hole. In between, it was flawless golf. Scheffler has won four of his last five starts. He’s won 10 times on TOUR in his last 50 starts. He’s lost to only one golfer since the start of March: Stephan Jaeger at the Texas Children’s Houston Open.

Top players spent the early part of the week gawking at Scheffler’s success and admitting there was a gap between them and him. Still, there’s supposed to be a letdown after a win, especially a major championship. It’s a mentally taxing and draining experience. The stress and energy of contending can wear down even the best, and Scheffler is a meticulous preparer, treating practice rounds with the intentionality if not quite the intensity of a final round.

He showed up to Harbour Town Golf Links for the first time Wednesday, taking the early part of the week to celebrate his Masters win and recharge back home. He didn’t see the course’s front nine until he played the first round. He admitted one eye was at home in Dallas, where his wife Meredith draws closer and closer to giving birth to their first child. He was prepared to walk off the course at any moment if she went into labor. That was the field’s only hope, as it turns out.

The quick turnaround and shortened practice time led to a sluggish start as Scheffler was even for his first 15 holes Thursday. Although he birdied Nos. 16 and 17 for a 2-under 69, he was already six shots behind after Round 1. His caddie, Ted Scott, had noticed some fatigue.

The great ones, though, do not panic, comforted by the knowledge that over time their stuff is superior and will win out. Scheffler would never say such a thing (too brash), but his clubs say it for him. Exhibit A: He shot a 6-under 65 on Friday, and that night the deficit was just three. Then he shot 63 on Saturday to leave little doubt: He was going to win again.

“He’s a physical specimen, I mean honestly he is,” Scott said. “He’s in incredible shape and you have to be to have mental fortitude. You have to get your body in physical shape so you can be mentally in it.”

Mentally, Scheffler said he’s never been in a better place on the golf course.

“I look back to Bay Hill, and I got off to some poor starts there, especially on the greens,” he said. “I'm just proud of how quickly I've been kind of fighting back from those little mistakes throughout the round and handling the surprises and stuff when it doesn't really go as planned. I think I've become better at managing that.”

A prime example came as the darkness descended Sunday night. Standing in the middle of the fairway on the par-5 15th, Scheffler duck hooked a 4-iron into the water. He was shocked. The swing was good; the strike was solid. But there was mud on the ball that he didn’t see.

Still up by five, Scheffler had plenty of breathing room, but he didn’t want to drop a shot. He slung a wedge around the tall trees guarding the hole and buried the 11-foot par putt despite having the option to wait and putt it in the morning, as his playing partner, Sepp Straka, did.

“The level of satisfaction of something like that is pretty high … to keep myself in position and not really give the guys behind me too much hope,” Scheffler said.

That mental strength is driven partly by on-course performance. Scheffler has regained confidence on the greens after switching to a mallet putter. That helps. But it’s also bred from his consistent cadence off the course. After pouring in eight birdies on Saturday, seven of which came from inside 12 feet, Scheffler did what he often does on the road. He went back to the rental house with frequent TOUR roommate and best friend Sam Burns and watched a movie. Tom Kim stopped by, as he had a few other times during the week. The routine was the same.

Burns, who has known Scheffler since their junior golf days, couldn’t sense a shift in Scheffler at any point during the week. Other than his late arrival, nothing was different.

“Just his normal self, pretty laid back,” Burns said.

Burns drew parallels to Scheffler’s golf, which hasn’t changed much over the years. The ability to dominate was always there.

“He's playing incredible golf,” Burns said. “He has a ton of confidence and he's also really good. It's a good combo. You have those three things working together and then you get what you got. He's the best in the world by a long way.”

Scheffler admitted he is starting to realize his stature is changing, although it still catches him off guard. Large crowds packed in to watch him tee off on Saturday. When he reached the first green, he looked back at those same bleachers a few hundred yards away. They were empty, even with the final five groups still to tee off.

“It was really interesting,” he said, still seeming a bit surprised. “It felt to me like the crowd was coming with me (Saturday), and there was definitely a lot of cheers out there.”

Scottie Scheffler closes out 72nd hole to cement 10th win at RBC Heritage

It’s new territory for the Texan. He has occupied the top spot in the world ranking for the last 48 weeks, but the general public seldom treated him like a sports idol. His understated personality, as genuine as it is, did not attract the masses, and he has actively avoided the spotlight. But his dominance is the draw now. The crowds are bigger and the cheers are louder as the golf world eagerly watches Scheffler make history, everyone wondering: How long can he keep it going?

“People like to see something special and they’re seeing it,” Scott said. “It’s easy to get behind a person like him, he’s easier to cheer for.”

Woods was the last player to win four times in five starts, back in 2008. Since 1983, Only David Duval has needed fewer starts to get from win No. 1 to win No. 10. Scheffler’s final-round 68 was his 40th consecutive round of par or better. He’s outperformed the field average in 36 of those rounds. Fans flock to dominance. It’s happening in the women’s game, with Nelly Korda at five straight wins and counting. It’s here for Scheffler as well.

Maybe things will change, as Scheffler is about to become a dad, knocking golf further down his list of priorities. He wants to be a better parent than he is a golfer, and perhaps that will take time away from his practice and preparation. Maybe then, he will fall off.

Don’t hold your breath.

“I grew up watching the end of Tiger,” Theegala said Saturday night. “Got to see Rory (McIlroy), DJ (Dustin Johnson), Jordan (Spieth), like all these guys kind of dominate for a period of time, and I was like, we could be in the midst of something really, really special.”

It was as if Theegala knew what was coming, and maybe he did. Maybe, deep down, we all did.
