Jungle Safari at Statue of unity – Zoological Park

Sardar Patel Zoological Park is a major Tourist Destination at Kevadia in Narmada district of Gujarat State, spread over an area of around 375 acres with extremely undulating topography. The Zoo houses 2 Bird aviaries. These two aviaries are having state of the art geodesic design designated for Indian and exotic Birds. The geo domes of Bird aviaries are going to cover an area of 1.5 hectares with complex architectural design to create a structural marvel.

This Ekta Cruise also provides a gripping experience of the “On Board dinner“ during the cruise sailing while the forest night sets in Kevadia and attractive lighting takes over the hearts of the thousands of tourists. The 7 km long navigation channel in the river specially is constructed for extending a unique experience to the tourists visiting Statue of Unity . The distance between Shreshtha Bharat Bhavan and the Statue is about 7 kms which will be covered in 40 minutes by UNITY 1 and in 25 minutes by UNITY 2. Unity 2 – This boat is a mono hull boat which can operate at a very high speed. The boat can accommodate up to 25 passengers. Some passengers can also enjoy the ride sitting on the main deck and the others can sit on the flybridge.

 If you have a slot to enter the statue at 10 to 12 pm, you can take the ferry from

09:00- 09:20 am

Ferry will leave at SBB at 09:20 am

and reach SOU at 10:00 am. Similarly, you can take return ferry from SOU to SBB in the next trip at 12:00-12:20 after visiting the statue. 1. Ticket is entitled to one person and seat only on the lower deck. 2. Parents to take care of kids on the board. 3.  Check-in time -15 minutes before departure in order to avoid missing the cruise. 4. Ticket to be retained till the end of the cruise and can be used by the same person for return. 5. The company reserves the right without assigning reason to cancel the cruise. 6. Passengers are not allowed to carry food and beverages or bags on board. 7. The company reserve the right to itself to refuse any person whom it considers unfit to travel or may constitute a risk to the cruise or to the passengers.

Miyawaki is a technique pioneered by Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki that helps build dense, native forests in a short time. It has revolutionized the concept of urban afforestation by turning backyards into mini-forests. This method includes planting trees (only native species) as close as possible in the same area which not only saves space, but the planted saplings also support each other in growth and block sunlight reaching the ground, thereby preventing the growth of weed. The saplings become maintenance-free (self-sustainable) after the first three years. This approach is supposed to ensure that plant growth is 10 times faster and the resulting plantation is 30 times denser than usual. At a distance of 2 km from Kevadiya Railway Station, Ekta Cruise Service is a ferry ride on the pristine waters of the Narmada River in Kevadia town. It is one of the must-experience things to do in Kevadiya. Ekta Cruise Service was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 30th October 2020 to mark Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, the birth anniversary of Sri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The ferry ride starts from Shrestha Bharat Bhavan, behind Ramada Encore to the Statue of Unity. The 6 km-long navigation channel in the river especially is constructed for extending a unique experience to the tourists visiting the Statue of Unity. The distance between Shreshtha Bharat Bhavan and the Statue is about 6 km which will be covered in 40 minutes by UNITY 1 and 25 minutes by UNITY 2. UNITY 1, 26 m long and 9 m wide, is a Catamaran Type Vessel with two decks and currently carries 200 passengers on the lower deck with fixed seats. The Statue of Unity is a must-see architectural wonder , but visiting the world’s tallest statue is not as simple as taking a train to Kevadia, Gujarat.

Dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the 182-metre-tall statue stands in the heart of a sprawling campus. With over 4.9 acres and dozens of attractions to explore, it can be overwhelming to plan your visit.

Visiting the Statue of Unity

There are four kinds of entry tickets, each offering different experiences. Bus service is included in all tickets, so you don’t have to worry about walking long distances.

Basic Entry Ticket

This is an affordable option for large families. You’ll get to enjoy the historical museum and interactive audio-visual presentations. You can also relax in the Valley of Flowers or trek up to the Sardar Sarovar Dam viewpoints.However, the Viewing Gallery is not included . Choose this ticket if you’re on a budget or just not interested in the Viewing Gallery.

Viewing Gallery Ticket

If you love taking in natural landscapes, don’t think twice about grabbing the Viewing Gallery Ticket.

Visitors with this ticket can take elevators to the chest-level of the statue, around 153 metres above the ground. You’ll get all the benefits of the basic entry ticket, plus access to stunning birds-eye views of the Sardar Sarovar Dam and the Vindhya and Satpura mountain ranges.

Express Entry Ticket

Booking Your SoU Tickets

The Statue of Unity is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 8 am to 6 pm . Note that the campus will be closed on Mondays for maintenance.

Online Tickets

The easiest way to buy tickets is through the Statue of Unity’s official website . You can also book tickets on the Statue of Unity app on iPhone or Android . 

The website offers information about timings and closed days. If you face any problem, you can email [email protected] or call 1800 233 6600 from 8 am to 6 pm.

Offline Tickets

You can get tickets for the same day from the booking counters. Be prepared to pay with your debit or credit card, as cash might not be accepted.

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.
