Welcome to one of the best restaurants in Benitses Corfu Avra on the Beach Cocktail and Fish Taverna Once upon a time in the 70s a traditional Greek tavern, AVRA, started building its history in the picturesque village of Benitses, a place where kings, queens and celebrities of the time including John Lennon used to choose for their holidays. This beautiful seaside taverna was initiated by the Spinoulas family, also owners of the oldest hotel in Corfu, called AVRA as well. Thousands of visitors from all over the world visiting Corfu were travelling miles to visit the taverna and queue in order to get seated on a table and enjoy delicious traditional dishes. Nevertheless times changed, years passed, the owners grew old and the taverna closed for many years. These were only the bad news…because the good news are that the old AVRA is being RELOADED! The old AVRA is being re-branded, renovated and refreshed and it is opening its doors once again! We welcome you all to AVRA on the beach in Benitses, to enjoy delicious Greek traditional dishes with a modern twist in front of the seaside! We start our day early by preparing homemade breakfast with tasty traditional Greek coffee for you all! Special Greek omelette with vegetables and feta cheese, Greek yoghurt with super-food ingredients and honey, pancakes with chocolate and jams, sandwiches and Bougatsa croissants with fresh cream and mama’s marmalade will blow you away! Today we offer our guest traditional Greek and Corfiot specialties – fresh fish and seafood, delicious home-made desserts, souvlaki, Corfiot pastitsada. We also have special menu for kids and vegeterians. All our dishes are inspired by old recipes mixed with a modern taste. Our homemade cuisine and handmade dishes will awake all your senses and will surely motivate you to return. Some of our most popular dishes are our handmade spreads including eggplant salad, feta cheese spread, taramosalata etc, fried courgettes, prawn pasta, traditional Greek pies, fried sprat, mama’s beef balls and many more which you will find out as soon as you visit! Very clean, cozy, beautiful garden with bbq option and great services overall. Perfect for families or holidays with friends. The landlady is very kind and puts a lot of attention to details. The position is ideal as it is located in the middle of the island. The most attractive points of interest are within 10/20 min driving.

Our hotel restaurant was closed in late October so we made the 5 minute walk to Avra. The location is excellent, overlooking Mouse Island and landing aircraft. We received a very friendly welcome without it being "pushy" and just the right amount of attention throughout.... It was a nice touch to provide free pre-dinner appetisers and also home-made kumquats and liqueur after the meal. The food was fantastic value and served in large portions. It was also good quality. We liked it so much we came back on our second night too before heading on our travels around the island. More

We are currently staying at the Oasis Hotel in Perama. This restaurant is about a 5 min walk from the hotel. We popped in here for lunch. The food was so tasty and the waiter couldn’t do anymore for us. We just shared salad and... lamb chops (which came with chips) and they didn’t disappoint. The bread served was homemade and delicious. And the views... they are to die for, you have to visit. Great traditional food and atmosphere. We will 100% be visiting again but for dinner this time. Today we went to this restaurant for the first time and not only the owners are very welcoming giving you free bread and little fresh sandwiches to start off with they also serve one of the best fish I have ever eaten. My partner had... carbonara and it was also very nice. We also got complimentary apple liquor home made which was so lovely. If you get a chance visit this place and support this family as you will not regret it. More

My partner and Myself visited this Taverna the last 4 days of our holidays as we moved hotels. What a perfect find it was, Nikos and Vangelis were amazing hosts and made us very welcome. The food was quite honestly the best food we had... all holiday and the quality was amazing. The staff here were keen to fill us up we had some beautiful starters and also desserts before and after main course. Every meal was topped off with a little shot. The views from this Taverna were beautiful. This is an incredibly pretty restaurant in Perama on the road between Corfu Town and Benitses. It's covered in pretty flowers and overlooks the sea. Worth a visit for this alone! I had a delicious Saganaki and a veal main course. The bruschetta was complimentary.... Washed down with a small carafe of rose wine. The waiter remembered me from my last visit and was chatty and engaging. Great service. Covid precautions in place. Highly recommended if you want to eat out alone, romantic enough for couples and ideal for families too. More

The restaurant has a nice view over the Pontikonisi island.The food is good and the dishes are big.The price is in the average.

If you are anywhere around Kannoni or on the other side across the foot bridge. Don't forget to visit this beautiful Taverna by the sea. They have a big range of mezzes and fine dishes from the grill. We tried the lamb chops and fish... catch of the day together with a generous portion of greek salad. Spagetti to our son was perfectly done and since we went on a Sunday, there was a live band of local musicians and a professional singer all with no extra price. A big local family was celebrating the christening of their child and the party went on after we left at 2 AM. We did enjoy the food and company. We had complimentary cofee and icecream too! Excellent restaurant with very good food and excellent home-made white wine. It has a great view of the sea and planes that take off at Corfu Airport. I'll remember this restaurant because my boyfriend asked me to do it. :)

We have had our lunch on two occasion. Pork souvlaki great, grilled fish, octopus, lovely. In our opinion is good price for what you get. Staff very friendly. Highly Recommended.

From the moment we arrived at Avra Taverna , my boyfriend and I were met with warmth and friendliness. The staff made us feel very welcome and made sure we always had enough to eat and drink. The food was delicious (with fresh fish dishes... daily) and the drinks were tasty and refreshing. We began our days taking breakfast on the beach, then laying on the sunbeds whilst reading our books and then going off on our adventures. Our days would inevitably end back at the taverna drinking delicious cocktails, having a snack and watching the sunset! Amazing place with honest, friendly and down-to-earth people; Greek evenings with singing and dancing and lastly the cutest puppy that always brought a smile to my face! Also- Great value for money! We visited the restaurant twice on the days of Paskha, 2014. For lunch. The place is rather pleasant. The view from the terrace is, probably, the most gorgeous on the whole island, facing Pontikonisi and Blacherna church. The drafts are less cursed than on the... terrace of the nearby Nissos restaurant (the temperature those days was about 18 C). The service was comparatively quick and attentive, ready to explain things about the menu in English. But, in the menu, among the fish dishes, we found "God" instead of ''Cod": the Greeks seem to be very religious, as they are ready to serve it even on a plate :) The food doesn't differ much from other similar places, but it seemed to me clearly less expensive. The restroom was in a rather poor condition, to my mind. Generally, the place seemed to be nice, because the atmosphere was placid, relaxing and not pretentious. It's easy to get there by car, by bus (№6 from Sarocco, downtown, telling the driver you want to stop by Avra) or having a walk from Kanoni peninsula across the bay. More

We were here in 2010 and had a lovely meal here, so we returned. What a mistake! The service was poor, the meal indelible, and it cost 96 euros for 2 adults and 3 children. I summed it up the next day when I thought... about it...there was basically no chef...there were two guys who served and took orders and it seemed like they just went in the back and assembled what we ordered. There was also no YiaYia to cook or oversee the preparation. They were out of moussaka, stifado, and other prepared meals even though it was only 7pm. It was like a ghost town...pathetic and I'm so sorry I subjected my poor family to this meal! We had another meal at 11pm because we were still hungry . Beautiful view, however! I must say that. The food was mainly salty. Not good quality really, but still super expensive. The service was not existing or rude, still worth the view if you have the stomach for all this....
