Kevin Gates announces Khaza release date, shares tour

Listen to the rapper’s new single “bad for me.”.

Kevin Gates scored an unlikely hit this year in "Thinking With My Dick," a Juicy J-featuring single from 2013 that went viral on TikTok this year and rocketed to No. 37 on the Billboard Hot 100 (it's not even the first time Gates has gone viral on TikTok – "Big Gangsta" and "Me Too" have both inspired trends on the platform.) With newfound momentum behind him, Gates has announced the release date of his upcoming third studio album Khaza : June 17.

Below you can listen to its new single "Bad For Me," a song which revisits the narrative of an affair with a drug supplier's daughter, something he's explored on songs like "Plug Daughter" and "Plug Daughter 2." The song joins the previously released Khaza single " Big Lyfe ," and you can hear it below.

Kevin Gates (born February 5, 1986) is the stage name of Kevin Gilyard, an American rapper and singer from New Orleans, Louisiana, U.S.

Gates’ musical endeavours began when he started rapping in 2007 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he grew up. Along with fellow Louisiana rappers Webbie and Lil Boosie, Gates first drew attention to himself with the 2008 single “Get in the Way” featuring Lil Boosie. Influenced by the likes of Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z and Nas, since 2007 the rapper has been known for his time on the mixtape circuit releasing a string of mixtapes including 2007’s “Pick Of Da Litter”, 2008’s “All Or Nuthin”, 2009’s “All In”, and 2010’s “Behind Enemy Lines” and “The Leak”.

Shortly after his single “Get in the Way” Gates got sent to jail until 2011, upon his release he immediately returned to recording music, which included the mixtapes “I Don’t Know What to Call it Vol. 1 (2011), “Make ‘Em Believe” (2012) and “In The Mean Time” (2012). 2012 also brought a number of collaborations for the rapper including work with Juvenile and French Montana.

It was in 2013 however where Kevin Gates really blew up with his mixtape “The Luca Brasi Story” which became instantly popular, being downloaded over 130,000 times and resulted in Gates appearing on high-profile mixtapes for Pusha T, Slim Thug and Gudda Gudda. It wasn’t long before he signed to the major label Atlantic after completing his contract with the indie imprint label Breadwinner by releasing the well-received album “Stranger Than Fiction”, featuring artists Wiz Khalifa and Juicy J. The album debuted at No. 37 in the Billboard 200 and led to the rapper being named part of the 2014 XXL Freshman Class.

Its was Amazing!:) Loved Kevin Gates aka Luci Brasi of course... This was our first time attending one of his concerts and we'd definitely go again! I was sad that Rod Wave didn't perform but maybe I'll catch him elsewhere.:( The in between performers were okay. YK Osiris was very good and comical too. I enjoyed the way he told his story in a musical way and the graphics were... Sad we were trying to escape the cold & rain went off and left our can goods In the car so we wasn't able to get a memorabilia shirt. There also wasnt any vendors inside nor outside(of course) selling shirts and gear for the concert... Thanks for a fun night at Novo! (Fisrt time at the venue also). Can't wait for the next show!!! :) :) :) (Hopefully with Roddy Ricch, Rod Wave, YK Osiris, Chris Brown, Tory Lanez, Sada Baby and any other great artists)... I had emojis to tell my story but had to erase them :(

When Kevin Gates reached the stage his performance was unique! Not only did he capture the audience but he showed everyone love! He's a great performer and will keep you on your toes at all times. In the middle of his performance unlike others I've been to he came down off stage and interacted with the crowd! Not just the front but to the back of the club and back. This venue may not have been huge but it felt like a coming home party and every one had a good time. I can't wait to see him in future performances.

Well honestly the club in corpus Christi was not organized at all for the event and I didn't realize you were not going to be on stage til late but I am so excited that I got to see you live n person that made my whole year I believe you are great artist and ur always you bt the future u hold the key ur gonna b greater than great I will b at as many concerts as I can afford I am a huge fan thanks for an awesome performance thanx ur amazingly perfect

Oh my God this is my second time seeing him but I was not as close as I was on yesterday, and I liked to come unglued, when he walked out on stage he put on a great show from start to finish I, could listen to him all night while he preform his hits. I already have my ticket for November 15th, before I knew he was coming yesterday and I jumped on getting VIP tickets to see him. A true fan for life...❤️❤️❤️

This show was absolutely dope! I had been looking forward to this concert for a month and was not disappointed. Solo Lucci and OG Boobie Black came on before Kevin Gates and their performances were rockin! The venue made the concert very intimate which made the concert even better. I would highly recommend seeing him in concert if he's coming to your city!

The concert was fantastic. It was great to meet kevin before the concert, and shake his hand after. 10/10. The only thing I didn't like was all of the local performers to open. I went to a previous Gates concert before this one, and there wasnt any local performers at all. Still had a lot of fun though, and loved the Kevin Gates performance.

He was 2 hours late for his own show. Which we heard was normal for him... We almost left... Was pretty hype once he got there though. I would like to see him in concert again just hoping he'll actually be closer to being on time. All the standing around and waiting with an empty stage felt like a waste of time.

I loved to see him, but my seat was so far back! I barely could see him! Overall, I love that man lol!!! He had great stage audience and I loved that fact that he prayed at a concert! Never experienced an audience praying at a concert. I will see him in August in Memphis so I'm READY!!!!

Kevin Gates!!!!!!! The show was awesome, I had the time of my life last night!! He did his thing, the crowd was perfect, and the atmosphere was just right! I was hyped for the remainder of the night because of his performance! Kevin was amazing!

RIAA multi-platinum certified rap superstar, Kevin Gates, brings his new ‘Only The Generals’ national tour to Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre on Friday, October 13 at 8 p.m. The tour will span 30 shows and will kick off in Portsmouth, VA on October 6 with direct support from BigXthaPlug and Hosted by DJ Chose. The tour announcement comes on the heels of Kevin’s previously released single and visual, “ Do It Again .” Kevin kicked the year off with the single and visual “ Breakfast ” and the re-release of his debut mixtape, The Luca Brasi Story (A Decade of Brasi) to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the project.

The Table Room is a brand new venue space that will provide an additional entertainment space featuring full bar service including beer, specialty cocktails and premium wine selections. The Table Room provides an opportunity for concert and event patrons to arrive early and socialize with friends, family and other guests.  

Clear Bag Policy

NEW CLEAR BAG POLICY FOR CAJUNDOME & CONVENTION CENTER EVENTS

Each ticket holder, including children, may carry one approved clear bag, such as a one-gallon clear storage bag or clear purse no larger than 12" x 12" x 6". The following bags will be permitted inside the CAJUNDOME & Convention Center and are subject to search.

• Gallon size clear plastic storage bag.
• Clear bag equal to or smaller than 12" x 12" x 6" 
• A clutch or purse smaller than 6.5" x 4.5"
• Equipment bag for necessary medical items.
• Diaper bag for age-appropriate children accompanied by an adult.

Prohibited bags include, but are not limited to: large purses, duffle bags, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, mesh bags, or any bag larger than the permissible sizes mentioned above. Tinted or printed-pattern plastic bags are not clear, so they will not be permitted.

On May 5, Kevin Hart will host the ‘Roast of Tom Brady’ at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum as part of the Netflix is a Joke Festival.

However, that’s far from the only gig the 2024 Mark Twain Prize For American Humor winner has lined up this year.

From April all the way up until December, the prolific 44-year-old comic will perform at venues all over North America as part of his ‘Acting My Age Tour.’

That includes a pair of shows at Westbury, NY’s Westbury Music Fair on June 29 as well as one-offs at Newark, NJ’s Prudential Center on June 30 and Poughkeepsie, NY’s MJ Nesheiwat Convention Center on July 20.

“This one is going to hit different,” Hart shared on Instagram , while describing the tour. “We’re on a different level, a different mindset.”

If you want to see what the “Ride Along” star has up his sleeve for his ‘Acting My Age Tour,’ tickets are available for all shows.

At the time of publication, the lowest price we could find was $16 before fees on Vivid Seats.

To be fair, that low dollar amount is a bit of an outlier (hint, hint- it’s for the Tom Brady Roast); other Kevin Hart shows have tickets starting anywhere from $55 to $389 before fees.

From May 2-12, 2024, the  Netflix is a Joke Festival  is returning to Los Angeles for over 300 (!) shows spread out across 35 venues.

As of now, over 270 events have been announced for the  sprawling, mega event , the first since 2022.

Upcoming Kevin Hart projects

Kevin Hart can’t stop working.

On top of his upcoming tour dates, he also has eight (!) movies and TV shows set for release in the near future.

Here’s what we know about each of the future flicks.

“Planes, Trains & Automobiles”  might sound familiar. In this reimagining of the 1987 classic, Hart co-stars with Will Smith as “a pair of unlikely travel companions trying to make their destinations in time for the Holiday weekend.”

“My Own Worst Enemy”  tells the story of an agent sent on a dangerous assignment and then receives an assist from an unlikely informant. Tim Story has been tapped to direct.

“The Great Outdoors”  will see Hart star in a remake of the 1988 John Candy-Dan Aykroyd comedy where a family on vacation repeatedly gets interrupted by their irritating in-laws. Teena Lewis and Tristan Cantave are set to co-star.

“Ride Along 3”  is an extension of the popular Hart-Ice Cube franchise featuring Hart as a well-meaning high school teacher who applies to the police academy to impress the girl of his dreams (Tika Sumpter). There, he meets her tough brother (Ice Cube), who, you guessed it, takes him on a ride along to set him straight. According to  Looper , director Tim Story wants to take the ongoing series to another country in a future installment.

“Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist”  has just Hart attached now; the series will tell the story of the infamous armed robbery after Muhammad Ali’s historical comeback fight in 1970.

“Borderlands,”  based on the popular video game, takes place on the desolate, fictional planet Pandora. In this abandoned world, adventurers seek out an elusive artifact. The stacked cast features Cate Blanchett, Jack Black, Jamie Lee Curtis, Gina Gershon and Bobby Lee.

“Uptown Saturday Night”  centers around a pair of pals’ night out where they chill at an illegal club, come upon a lost wallet, and find a winning lottery ticket. Based on the 1974 classic featuring Sidney Poitier, Flip Wilson, Richard Pryor, Bill Cosby, and Harry Belafonte. Rick Famuyiwa (“Dope,” “The Chi”) will direct from a script by Kenya Barris (“Blackish,” “Coming 2 America”).

“Monopoly,”  currently in development, finds a boy from the board game’s Baltic Avenue on a journey to make some cold, hard Monopoly cash. Tim Story will direct Hart again in a script by noted sci-fi screenwriter Andrew Niccol (“Truman Show,” “Gattaca”). Here’s hoping the movie, which has yet to enter pre-production, “gets out of jail free.”

“Die Hart 2: Die Harter” signals a return to Hart’s Amazon Prime series where he “plans an innovative action film with unscripted, unexpected scenes to cement his legacy as the greatest,” IMDb reports. Of course, high-stakes hijinks ensue. Nathalie Emmanuel, Ben Schwartz, Paula Pell and John Cena co-star.
