If you are a British or UK passport holder, you don't need a prior visa arrangement when traveling to Dubai. All required of you is to have the traveling documents, and the airport immigration office, when entering Dubai, will be issued 30 days on-arrival visa.

The 30 days arrival visa allows you to stay in Dubai for 30 days, but there you can get your visa extended by another 30 days. You don't have to exit the country and worry about how to extend the visa. You can let us Arabiers process everything for you.

If you plan to stay in Dubai long, you can change your visa, which is possible without exiting the country.

What are the Dubai Visa Requirements for British Citizens?

You have to meet the Dubai visa requirements for British citizens to be issued with the 30 days on arrival visa. The requirements include;

  • Original passport and should be at least 6 months from the UAE's expected departure time.
  • A confirmed return flight ticket or a flight ticket to another destination.

If you meet these requirements, which you will be prompted to present by the immigration authorities, you will be issued 30 days on-arrival visa.

Overstaying Fines

The 30 days on-arrival visa allows UK citizens to stay in Dubai for 30 days. There is a grace period of 10 days where you have to extend your visa by contacting a travel agency like Arabiers or exit the country.

After the 10 days grace period, you will be considered to have overstayed and thus pay fines. The fines are calculated as follows;

After entering Dubai from the UK on the 30 days on arrival visa, you can extend your stay by any of the below options.

If your 30 days on arrival visa expired before renewing it, you have to exit the country and reenter to get a new visa.

Basically, you need to leave the country where you got the visa in the first place UAE so that you can continue to stay. A new 30-day on-arrival visa is issued every time the individual exits and enters the country.

There is no limit to the number of 30 days on-arrival visas issued per person annually. NOTE: Rejecting or issuing a visa is the sole discretion of the Dubai Immigration authorities.

You won't need to leave the country to get your visa extended for the UAE. The on-arrival visa is valid for thirty days and can be extended through immigration services for a fee of 1000 AED. You will receive an extension of 30 days, including a grace period of 10 days.

The other way to extend your stay in Dubai is through the in-country visa status change , but it is more expensive than the other two, which allows you to stay in UAE for more than 30 days.

You are not required to leave the country or go to any immigration office to obtain an inside-country visa. Rather, you are required to get in touch with a reputable travel agency like Arabiers to issue inside-country visas. As you relax on the beach during your vacation in Dubai, you will be issued a new tourist visa valid for either 30 or 90 days.

Alternately, you can change your visit visa into a residence visa or employment visa to extend your stay for longer.

If you are a UK national who has arrived in the country and have a visit visa that is set to expire in 30 days, you have the option to either extend your visa or convert it into a residence visa or an employment visa to obtain additional time to remain.

If you want someone else to file for your residence visa on your behalf, you will require a sponsor like your employer, a travel agency, spouse, or another individual.

It is essential to note that, in most instances, you will not be able to submit an application for your resident visa.

The employer will submit an application for a residence visa on your behalf to the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) of the emirate where you will be living.

The cost of extending your UAE visit visa may vary depending on the following:

Everything You Need To Know About Dubai Tourist Visa

Let us begin by taking an in-depth look at the Dubai tourist visa for British Citizens and answer some of the many questions you might have, such as:

Do British Citizens Need A Visa For Dubai From The UK?

No , British citizens that are travelling to Dubai from the UK can do so without needing a pre-arranged visa. A visit visa to Dubai can be obtained by British passport holders on arrival for 30 days at the airport from the immigration authorities.

Additionally, you must get a tourist visa if you wish to stay in the UAE for longer than 30 days or if you have used your 30 days within the last 180 days. There are several ways of getting a Dubai Tourist Visa, which we will discuss later in this post.

What Are The Type Of Dubai Visas?

There are several different types of Dubai visas that British citizens can utilize. Each different type of Dubai visa can be applied for a specific purpose of visit or duration of stay. Some of the different visiting visas to Dubai for a stay are:

48-Hours Dubai Visa : Travelers with a 48 hours stopover or layover in Dubai can apply for this visit visa to Dubai.

96-Hours Dubai Visa : Travelers with a 96 hours stopover or layover in Dubai can apply for this visit visa to Dubai.

14-Day Single Entry Visa : Travelers wishing to visit Dubai for a short trip can use this visa and stay in the country for a maximum of 14 days.

Short-Term Single Entry Visa : This tourist visa allows the holder to enter and exit Dubai once and stay for the duration of the visa's validity period, which is 30 days.

Short-Term Multiple Entry Visa : This tourist visa allows the holder to enter and exit Dubai multiple times during the validity of the visa, which is 30 days.

Long-Term Single Entry Visa : This tourist visa allows the holder to enter and exit Dubai once and stay for the duration of the visa's validity period, which is 90 days.

Long-Term Multiple Entry Visa : This tourist visa allows the holder to enter and exit Dubai multiple times during the validity of the visa, which is 90 days.

What Is The Difference Between A Single Entry Visa And A Multiple Entry Visa?

With a single-entry visa, you can only enter and exit the country once, whereas a multiple-entry visa allows you to enter and exit the country more than once. These different types of visas have certain eligibility requirements. Be sure to check them before you apply.

How Much Does A Dubai Visa Cost For British Citizens?

The cost of a Tourist Visa for Dubai from the UK depends on which Tourist Visa you apply for. For example, a 30-day Dubai Single-Entry Tourist Visa costs AED 300, and a 90-day visa for Dubai Single-Entry Visa costs 60 days AED 500.

However, these costs are subject to change, so I recommend you check the Tourist Visa fees before you apply. OR apply with Atlys for full transparency and worrying about any hidden fees.

How Long Does It Take To Process A Dubai Tourist Visa?

You must be wondering how long the Dubai Tourist visa application processing will take. The visa processing time may differ, but it takes approximately 3-5 working days for them to process your Visa.

If you apply using Atlys , the visa application is easier and will save you time. It will also show you the estimated processing time it will take for your visa approval.

What Is The Validity Of A Dubai Tourist Visa?

Depending on your plan, Tourist Visas to the UAE are valid for 30 days or 90 days , single entry or multiple entries. Recently, the UAE facilitated a five-year visa that enables tourists to enter numerous times on self-sponsorship and remain in the country for 90 days on each visit , which you can extend for another 90 days.

However, for British citizens, the Dubai visa on arrival is granted for multiple entries and is valid for 30 days. Keep in mind that you can renew your Visa on Arrival twice, which means you can stay in Dubai for a total of 90 days. This visa is stamped onto your passport and is valid for 6 months from the date of entry.

If My Visa Is Not Approved, Will I Get A Refund?

No , unfortunately, you will not. Please be clear that the UAE government does not offer a refund for rejected visa applications, be it for any reason. Similarly, airlines or agencies might have their own policies. However, they usually do not offer a refund.

A camel in the middle of a desert.

What Are The Dubai Visa Requirements For British Citizens?

Though British citizens do not need a pre-arranged visa for Dubai, they must meet the Dubai entry requirements to get a visa on arrival. British citizens who are valid passport holders don't need a visa to visit the UAE for 30 days. However, please make sure you have the following:

Your original passport: It must have over 6 months of validity from the expected departure time from the UAE.

Confirmed round-trip flight ticket or a flight ticket to another destination.

The visas are available upon arrival offered by the UAE immigration at the UAE airports (Visa On Arrival), and British citizens can stay for 30 days in the UAE. However, if you will stay longer, you have to contact the immigration officer at the airport or the local immigration office in the UAE.

If you apply for a Tourist Visa for Dubai using Atlys , you can make the entire visa application and receive the list of required documents from your mobile phone.

What Are The Required Documents For a Dubai Tourist Visa For British Citizens?

You require a few travel documents before starting the visa application process. I recommend gathering all these documents before applying if it takes a while to get certain documents, you'll need the following documents:

Clear passport copy of the sponsor.

Clear passport copy of the sponsored person.

Travel insurance.

Copy of confirmed flight booking.

Bank approval letter.

Proof of sufficient funds.

Proof that you paid the Visa fee (payslip)

Completed Visa Application form.

Depending on where you apply, you may need additional documents.

How Can I Apply For A Dubai Tourist Visa?

What makes the Dubai Tourist Visa unique is that you can get your Dubai Tourist Visa through other services other than. the UAE Embassy. For example, you can get a Tourist Visa for Dubai (valid for 30 days), a Service Visa (14 days), or even a Visit Visa from a hotel, travel company, or airline. However, it's important to note that you must first make a reservation before starting your visa application.

Additionally, if you have friends or family members that are UAE residents, they can apply for a Dubai Tourist Visa on your behalf.

Dubai Tourist Visa through Airlines

Each airline has some conditions which you must meet for them to arrange your Visa. One of the most important conditions is that you must fly with them. Etihad Airways , Emirates Airline , Fly Dubai , and Air Arabia offers visa services.

How To Apply For Your Dubai Tourist Visa Through Etihad Airways?

The application process is very straightforward, and best of all, it‘s an online application. All you need to do is go to the Etihad Airways website and click on "Apply for UAE visa." This will redirect you to another website where you need to choose the type of visa you want to apply for; in this case, it's the Dubai Tourist Visa.

Next, you must fill out the application form (provide all the necessary details) and attach the required documents like your passport, passport photo, and flight ticket. Lastly, you must pay the application fees through the secure online portal and wait for your visa.

How To Apply For Your Dubai Tourist Visa Through Emirates?

You can apply for your Dubai Tourist Visa through Emarites .

Suppose you're traveling to Dubai from the UK or stopping over in Dubai with Emirates. In that case, you can apply for and receive your UAE visa entirely online without submitting your passport for stamping. You can apply for your UAE visa through Manage your booking after booking your Emirates flight.

The online visa application service is available for residents and nationals worldwide.

This service is only available to passengers with a confirmed Emirates booking where an Emirates ticket has already been issued, and the flight itinerary includes the desired time in Dubai. The itinerary into and out of Dubai should be on one ticket (PNR), which must be an Emirates flight.

A minimum of four international working days before arrival in Dubai is required. However, Emirates recommends that you apply online as early as possible.

How To Apply For Your Dubai Tourist Visa Through Fly Dubai?

This can be a bit tricky. You can't necessarily apply for the visa online through their website like with the other airlines. Instead, you need to contact a travel shop near you to see if they can help you with your Dubai Tourist Visa application. Unfortunately, only a few travel shops can help with your visa application for Dubai, so be sure you call to get all the relevant information.

Dubai Tourist Visa Processing Time Through FlyDubai

Your UAE visa application will take a minimum of 3-5 working days from the date of submission if you submit all the required documents.

How To Apply For Your Dubai Tourist Visa Through Air Arabia?

Dubai Tourist Visa Through Agencies And Hotels

Licensed travel agents and hotels in the UAE can arrange a Tourist Visa if you purchase the ticket through them and maintain a hotel reservation with the specific hotel. When contacting the hotel or travel agency, ask them if they can make the visa application on your behalf.

They will likely also say if they can make the Dubai Tourist Visa application on your behalf on the website.

If they can apply on your behalf, you'll need to send through all the required documentation and information they might need during the application process.

You can also contact travel agencies in your country for any tourist packages available to the UAE in collaboration with a local tour operator.

It is essential to check the authenticity of the travel agents you're dealing with. Don't pay or send copies of your official documents until you are 100 percent sure the tour operator is genuine.

Can British Citizens Extend Their Dubai Tourist Visa?

You can extend all types of visit and tourist visas for 30 days. Keep in mind that you can do this twice upon applying for it and after successful approval by the relevant authority. Luckily, you can do this without leaving the country.

It's important to note that you can apply for the second renewal before the expiry of the first one. The price for a Dubai Tourist Visa extension costs EUR 154 (AED 600) for each renewal.

As mentioned above, visa overstayers who do not renew their visa must pay an EUR 25 (AED 100) fine for each day of their overstay, to be calculated 10 days after the visa expiry.

Additionally, if you have fully utilized the 30-day stay within 6 months, British citizens can still apply for a pre-arranged visa, which allows them to stay in the UAE for up to 90 days.

How Can I Extend My Dubai Tourist Visa?

You can apply for a visa extension through the Federal Authority For Identity & Citizenship, Customs & Port Security website . When accessing the website, click on the "Public Visa Service" option. This will take you straight to the page where you can apply for your Dubai Tourist Visa extension.

First, you must provide your passport number, passport type, date of birth, and nationality. Then, at the bottom of the page, you'll see the types of Dubai Tourist Visas you can extend. The visa extension process is very straightforward; you need to provide personal information, attach the required documents (the same documents as for your visa), and then pay the service fee.

That's It!

Now you are a Dubai Tourist Visa pro! All you need to do is follow the instructions, and you'll be all set for your sunny vacation in Dubai.

Frequently Asked Questions

A Dubai Tourist Visa (Dubai Visit Visa) is for foreign nationals who are not eligible for a visa on arrival for Dubai or visa-free entry to the United Arab Emirates.

According to a Cabinet resolution passed in July 2018, children under 18 years accompanying adults can get a free visa for their visit from 15 July to 15 September each year. However, females below 18 are not eligible to apply for this type of Visa unless they are traveling to Dubai from the UK with their parents.

A Dubai Tourist Visa is a short-term visa, which means that the Visa is only valid for a short period. If you stay longer than the date of issue (your visa's expiry date), you will get a fine.

I recommend contacting your nearest UAE Embassy or Consular if you're unsure about the Tourist Visa for Dubai from the UK.

UK ETA travel system opens for Emirati and Gulf visitors

Uae ambassador to uk: significant milestone for travellers is expected to boost standing of the emirati passport, tourists excited about new electronic travel authorisation to enter the uk.

Tourists excited about new Electronic Travel Authorisation to enter the UK

Emiratis travelling to the UK can apply from Thursday to enter the country under the Electronic Travel Authorisation , a visa-free process that cuts red tape and paves the way for repeat visits under a single approval.

Mansoor Abulhoul, UAE ambassador to the UK, praised the inclusion of the Emirates in the UK's ETA scheme as a boost for travel between the two countries, opening up new opportunities for citizens travelling to London and beyond.

"[There has been] a real collaboration with the UK government to bring this scheme into existence, which will streamline visits by Emiratis here to the UK in terms of access, affordability and speed," he told The National .

"Visitors consider the UK one of their very popular destinations to visit all through the year.

"So I think this will be a big boost for people connectivity. There'll be knock on economic benefits as well as the cultural benefits that I see coming from this."

The ETA is cheaper, faster and easier to apply for than the current Electronic Visa Waiver (EVW) and is available for arrivals from February 22. The scheme is open to citizens from the UAE , Qatar, Bahrain , Oman , Kuwait , Saudi Arabia and Jordan .

"I think there will be huge interest and Emiratis know the UK well," said Mr Abulhoul. "Ease of travel and the ability to make repeat visits will be a real plus for the UK economy.

"The system that is coming into place means there will be no pre-entry visa requirements for Emiratis visiting the UK, which will be of huge benefit."

Officials believe that the three-day application window is likely to be much shorter than billed with approvals coming within a few hours.

Visitors from the Gulf had been able to stay in the UK for up to six months for tourism, business, study or medical treatment. Holders of an ETA would now be able to make unlimited visits to the UK over two years.

Mr Abulhoul said the move would be a boost to the Emirati passport. It has climbed in international league tables and the holders of Emirati passports can already visit 179 destinations visa-free.

"We'll expect the Emirati passport to go up in the standing and I'm sure it will be somewhere in the top ten as it goes from strength to strength," he said.

The ambassador expects the dynamics of travel to change for many tourists, who could in future use the UK as a base for travel back and forward to France and Germany.

"It allows multiple entry to the UK and to visit as many times as you want over a two year period," he said.

"This is a huge step forward. The affordability will be a third of the existing electronic visa waiver scheme.

"So it's a £10 [cost], which makes a difference for a larger Emirati family visiting. They can then do visits into places like France and Europe, which I think will be a big ease to them."

AbdulMaalik Tailor, chief executive and founder of Halal Tourism Britain, told The National the expansion of the scheme to more countries in the Gulf and Jordan represents a "significant step forward".

"Not only does it streamline the process and offer a substantial cost reduction, priced at only £10, but it also introduces a convenient application method through the app," he said.

undefined

"This holds particular significance during peak tourist seasons, where visitors from GCC countries tend to prolong their stays and contribute significantly to the local economy, particularly within the luxury hospitality sector.

"Furthermore, acknowledging their role in paving the way for investments in British hotels and properties underscores the mutual benefits of implementing the ETA system.”

Mr Abulhoul said the UK could also consider changing the rules that say visitors must pay a Value Added Tax, typically 20 per cent, on purchases in the UK.

"We're looking forward to, we hope, tax-free shopping being reintroduced into the UK. So now we've got the ETA, we'll be focusing our attention as a team here in London on tax free shopping."

A Centre for Economics and Business Research report, which was released this week, found that tourist arrivals and spending would have recovered quicker post-pandemic had the VAT-free scheme been in place.

It said: "Visitor numbers could have been up to two million higher, while expenditure could have been up to £4 billion higher.

"In terms of the GDP impact, such additional expenditure equates to an output boost of £11.1 billion, up from the previous estimate of £10.7 billion."

The visa processing time for UAE residents travelling to the United Kingdom (UK) has been substantially reduced which has resulted in increased passenger traffic to the European country.

UAE residents were experiencing visa delays in 2022 due to multiple factors including, a significantly higher demand for travel and a passenger cap levied by the London Heathrow airport.

During the summer of last year, many residents cancelled their travel plans to the UK as the visitor visa processing time had exceeded seven weeks. London is one of the most popular destinations as thousands of UAE residents fly to the city for short and long holidays as well as summer breaks. Last year, London Heathrow airport’s decision to cap departing passengers at 100,000 per day also impacted flights.

“The processing time for UK visas has reverted to the 15 working days standard, and the turnaround time for Priority and Super Priority visas have likewise normalised,” VFS Global said in a statement to Khaleej Times.

Atish Thapa, head of marketing and business development, Cleartrip, said travel to the UK has become easier than it used to be as Covid-19 restrictions have been removed, capacity has been increased by airlines, airfares have gone down and getting a visa is also much faster.

  • Revealed: 6 reasons why Dubai is one of world's top wedding destinations
  • UAE travel: 12 new flights announced for residents this year

“Emirates and British Airways have increased capacity so the airfares have gone down from the peak level seen last year. UK immigration is giving visas faster and businessmen can even get visas in 48 hours at times, depending on the requirement. Hence, there is a sizeable increase in travel and traffic to Europe, specifically the UK,” added Thapa.

The Dubai-based carrier has announced it will resume its second daily service to London Stansted in May 2023, boosting its London operations to 11 daily flights, including six times daily to London Heathrow and three times daily to Gatwick. It will also scale up its A380 operations with the iconic double-decker returning to Birmingham on July 1, 2023.

Mir Wasim Raja, manager of MICE & Holidays at Galadari International Travel Services, also confirmed that visas are being processed faster now, taking approximately 15 days to a month for the residents.

“Visas are being processed and approved faster as compared to last year. Therefore, we are getting a good number of queries and bookings for travel to the UK. A good number of families are also booking now to travel to the Eid Al Fitr holidays in April,” he said.

On Feb. 22, UK's visa-free travel scheme for UAE, Saudi, GCC nationals goes live

Travel & tourism.

UK's new 'Electronic Travel Authorization' smooths out repeat visits for UAE, GCC citizens

Stock UAE- UK travel

Dubai: From February 22, citizens of the UAE, Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states can experience hassle-free processing on their next travel plans to the UK.

The UK’s new Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system - a visa-free process that allows repeat visits to Britain under a single approval - will be made available for UAE and Gulf citizens starting February 22, the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) has said.

The ETA replaced the Electronic Visa Waiver (EVW) system on February 1, and comes across as a faster and easier way to travel to the UK. Apart from GCC citizens, it is also open for Jordanian nationals.

Stays of up to 6 months

Emiratis travelling to the UK under the ETA system are allowed to stay in the country for up to 6 months, and their purpose of stay could include tourism or visiting friends and family, transit, business, and short-term study.

“The ETA is an improvement on the EVW, costs 10 pounds (Dh46.2) and permits multiple journeys to the UK over two years or until the holder’s passport expires, whichever is sooner,” a spokesperson for the UKVI told ‘Gulf News’. (The UKVI is a division of the Home Office responsible for the UK’s visa system.)

Will it cover UAE expats too?

Expatriates residing in UAE will continue to enter the UK in line with the current immigration requirements for their nationality, confirmed the spokesperson.

“The scheme will eventually apply to all other nationalities who do not require a visa to come to the UK,” said the spokesperson. “Timings for when other nationalities must apply will be confirmed in due course, and sufficient time will be given to prepare.”

UAE and Gulf nationals could apply for the ETA starting February 1, but the visa-free travel system will be accessible for travellers from February 22.

Travel boom to the UK

UAE-based travel agents operating in the UK market said the scheme's expansion to other countries poses a ‘significant step forward’.

The Electronic Visa Waiver (EVW) programme was launched for Emirati and other Gulf nationals in 2014.

“With the new ETA system, the biggest benefit is the significant cost reduction (of £10) compared to the Dh138.8 travellers were paying before under the EVW programme,” said Afi Ahmed, Chairman of Smart Travels.

“The UK continues to retain its position as a top business and leisure destination for UAE citizens. The demand continues to rise, and initiatives like the ETA give travellers an additional boost in confidence.”

Though the scheme is not open to many non-UAE citizens, the demand for travel to the UK continues to enjoy an upward streak.

According to Sapna Aidasani, Marketing Director at Pluto Travels, destinations like Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Aberdeen also draw travellers looking to travel more offbeat paths. “Moreover, many parents travel to the UK yearly to drop their kids to school/college in Britain,” said Sapna.

Last year, the UK welcomed nearly 800,000 visitors from the Gulf. In 2022, the UK welcomed 379,517 visits from the UAE despite the pandemic-triggered restrictions and passenger caps at London’s Heathrow International Airport.

In 2019, UAE travellers made 3.8 million outbound visits, with a total international tourism expenditure of $26.7 billion. Moreover, 39 per cent of visitors from the UAE were British nationals, while 25 per cent were Emiratis in 2022, according to Visit Britain.

The UAE Ambassador to the UK Mansoor Abulhoul said, “The new scheme is set to enhance the people-to-people connections (between the UAE and the UK), bringing mutual economic benefits and exchange of ideas across various fields including culture, science and policy. It will make travel to Britain more seamless, affordable, and convenient.”

UK visas for non-UAE nationals

Travel agents have declared the UK a 'hot' destination for UAE residents, including business travel demand. According to travel agents and airlines, most flights from the UAE to the UK operate at maximum capacity.

According to aviation analytics firm OAG, Dubai International Airport (DXB) and London Heathrow are the busiest airports for international flights in February 2024. The busiest airport is Dubai International, with a capacity of 4.7 million seats (compared to 4.6 million last year). And London Heathrow Airport (LHR) is in second place with 3.6 million seats (4 million seats in 2023), 30 per cent lower than Dubai International (DXB).

Mamoun Hmedan, Chief Business Officer at Wego, said, “The UK has been and continues to be the dominant European destination out of the Middle East, occupying the number one spot for 17 months in a row.” Hmedan said the UK looks poised to continue to dominate in 2024.

How to Get a UK Tourist Visa from UAE

The application process for a UK tourist visa mainly involves an online application form and an appointment at a visa application centre. First, you have to choose from the pool of different types of UK visas and determine the kind of visa that suits your requirement as a tourist from UAE. The following step-by-step guidelines shall help you navigate the process of getting a UK tourist visa from start to end.

1. Determine Your Required Visa Type

Different types of uk visas.

There are numerous types of UK visas depending on your nationality, purpose of visit, duration of stay, and personal circumstances and skills. There are standard visitor visas, work visas, student visas, marriage visitor visas, family visas, ancestry visas etc. However, there are three possible visa options for a tourist to consider and determine the suitable one.

– Visa Not Required

The first thing to determine is whether you need a visa to enter the UK. Depending on your nationality, as per your passport, you might not require a visa at all. For example, if you are a Canadian national residing in the UAE, you are exempted from the visa requirement to travel to the UK for a stay shorter than 6 months. Similarly, citizens of the USA, EU member states, and certain commonwealth countries do not need a visa to stay in the UK for no longer than 6 months.

You can check whether you require a visa to enter the UK here .

– Electronic Visa Waiver

Instead of a Standard Visitor Visa, nationals of some middle-eastern countries, including the UAE, have the option to enter the UK with an Electronic Visa Waiver (EVW) . The UK Electronic Visa Waiver, a digital alternative to regular visitor visas, can be availed by the nationals of the following countries if their stay is no longer than six months for tourism, business, study, or medical treatment:

  • Saudi Arabia
  • United Arab Emirates

If you are a national of one of the six countries mentioned above and residing in UAE, the easiest option is to go for an Electronic Visa Waiver (EVW).

– Standard Visitor Visa

Suppose you belong neither to any nationalities exempted from the UK visa requirement nor to the nationalities that can avail of an Electronic Visa Waiver. In that case, you must get a Standard Visitor Visa to travel to the UK as a tourist. Those eligible for an Electronic Visa Waiver can also get a UK Standard Visitor Visa. You can usually stay up to 6 months in the UK with a standard visitor visa. However, in certain circumstances like academics and medical treatment, you might be permitted to stay longer than six months.

To get a UK Standard Visitor Visa, you must apply online and attend an appointment at a visa application centre before you travel to the UK. Suppose you plan to visit the UK as a tourist regularly. In that case, you may opt for the long-term standard visitor visa, which will help you avoid the visa application process each time you travel, although the maximum stay per visit would remain 6 months.

The earliest you can apply for a visitor visa is three months before your journey. You should begin your visa application process as soon as possible to relax and prepare for your travel comfortably.

2. Gather the Required Documents

You must keep the following documents ready for a seamless visa application process. Check the documents required for a UK tourist visa from UAE.

Usual Processing Times for UK visitor visas

Normally you should get your visa decision within 3 weeks after you attend the appointment at the Visa Application Centre. What to do if your application is approved.

If your Visa Application Centre has collected your passport, they will return it with a sticker (vignette) once your application is approved. If you keep your passport, you have to take your passport to the Visa Application Centre to get the vignette in the passport. The vignette will show the visa type you have been granted, the validity dates, and the visa conditions. If you encounter any error in your vignette, contact your Visa Application centre and get it corrected as soon as possible.

What to do if your application is denied.

If your Visa application is refused, you will receive an email or a letter explaining the denial. If the Visa Application Centre keeps your passport, it will be returned to you. The letter will mention if you can appeal the rejection decision.

Incredibly proactive & professional Mr. Arif working at Zabeel Star Travel & Tourism is truly a pleasure to work with. I found the company details on social media and simply placed a called and spoke to Mr. Arif. He listened to my request patiently and offered me prompt service for Chinese visa application, within the next 2 hours of us speaking. A messenger from the company collected my documents and gave me a receipt of payment and I was informed my passport will be returned with the stamped visa on 29th Nov. I did not have to call or follow up with anyone at their end as I was pleasantly surprised to receive my visa stamped passport, a day earlier than promised. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Mr. Arif and Zabeel Star Travel & Tourism. I recommend it highly for anyone looking for quality and effective service. Thank you for your services. British passport renewal in Dubai

Your comprehensive guide to UK passport renewal in Dubai

  • UK Passport Renewal
  • Application

Dubai welcomes professionals from across the globe. Hence, it’s not surprising that British nationals make up a significant percentage of expats in the city. If you are currently a resident of the UAE and your British passport is about to expire, here’s how you can go about UK passport renewal in Dubai.

How to renew your British Passport in Dubai

Renewing a British passport in Dubai, especially without proper guidance, can be tricky for those unfamiliar with the process. After all, as an expat, a passport is an essential document and the idea of applying and waiting for renewal can be stressful.

Remember, the renewal process is easy to follow and can be done quickly if you know what to do. What’s even better is that there’s an online system to get it done. This post will cover everything you need to know about renewing British passports in Dubai.

Online renewal of British passport in Dubai

British expats in Dubai who wish to renew their passports can do so through the online “Overseas British Passport Applicants” services on the UK government’s website. To use the service, all you need is your old passport, a credit or debit card and access to a printer.

Overseas British passport application

The online British passport renewal process in Dubai is pretty simple for UK nationals currently residing in Dubai.

The website will ask you to enter basic details, including:

  • If you live in the UK or the current country of residence.
  • Your date of birth
  • Details of your current passport, like the issuing date and issuing authority

The guidance notes on the online service are straightforward . Applicants must have the required supporting documents that are to be sent to the UK. This typically includes your current passport and one document as evidence of your name and residence over the past year. This can be a resident permit or your tax record.

Also, keep in mind that any documents that aren’t in English must be translated first.

Sign the declaration form

Once the application has been paid for, the applicant will receive a declaration form and guidance.

The applicant must then sign the form and send two identical passport-sized photos and supporting documents to the HM Passport Office. The guidance specifications will indicate the photo specifications and the types of documents to be sent. It will also mention the address where you need to send the required documentation.

Courier companies in Dubai like DHL are recommended for the purpose. After the application is sent, your new passport will be delivered by courier in three weeks.

The online application process for British passport renewal in Dubai allows British expats to track their request progress easily.
