Real Stories from Our Customers
Satisfaction beyond reproach.
EA+ did everything they could in flying us back home with an assigned RN (Trish) to be with her. Trish was one of the best, if not the best, registered nurse that we had the pleasure of meeting. She was very compassionate, helpful, cheerful, and so dedicated to my wife's needs. She was with us from the moment we left all the way to our doorstep and was paying so much attention to my wife during our Delta flight home. We cannot thank her enough.
Our satisfaction with your company's services and compassion are beyond reproach. We have been recommending to all our friends and relatives not to travel without EA+ .
Again, please accept our endless thanks and we will always be one of your highly satisfied customers.”

I have to thank EA+ and thank God for EA+
In November 2016 my husband and I were on a cruise in the Caribbean. On the island of St. Lucia, my Husband said he didn't feel right, stood up and collapsed from a massive, fatal heart attack. It was that quick. He was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead.
After contacting my adult children, one of them headed to St. Lucia and the other coordinated from home. I told my daughter to contact EA+ first and the embassy second as I needed to make cremation arrangements to get my husband home. That's exactly what she did.
EA+ coordinated and provided everything. We never saw or received a single bill. EA+ even flew me home. I can't tell you what a relief it was to be in a foreign country and not have to deal with any of the financial side of things.
I have to thank EA+ and thank God for EA+ .

Well Supported After a Trip and Fall
My wife and I were traveling on a self-directed motor trip to visit National Parks. Approximately halfway through our trip we were having dinner at a nice restaurant in Big Sky, MT. Whie I settled the check, I heard a thump and some scurrying of staff. When I looked to see what had happened I found my wife lying face down on the floor. She had tripped on a small step. We got her up slowly and she seemed to be fine.
Over the next three to four days she began to talk about a slight headache. In Gallop, NM we went to a small hospital and after some tests, etc. they told us she had a slight leakage of blood in her brain. They recommended that she be flown to the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque. That was when I called Emergency Assistance Plus and they immediately took steps for the hospital transfer.
I was offered to ride along and they offered to transport my car. I decided to drive and meet them at the Hospital in Albuquerque.
Over the next four days while she was in the Neuro ICU and later in a regular patient room EA+ regularly called me to see what they could do for us. When discharge was planned EA+ offered to arrange a flight home to Sarasota, FL and have our car transported to our home. After consultation with her doctor they agreed we could drive home if we agreed to a maximum number of miles per day and a minimum number of hours of sleep per day during the drive. Emergency Assistance Plus staff called us on my cell phone every couple of days to see if all was going well.
I cannot express how well we were supported during this crisis and how thankful we are to be a member.

(WRS), a leading provider of emergency travel, rescue and security products to members of affinity clubs, loyalty groups, alumni associations, professional organizations, auto clubs and airline loyalty programs. I’d like to enroll in Emergency Assistance Plus, but I’m traveling soon. How can I gain access to my membership materials?
The fastest way to enroll is over the phone at 1-877-815-5642. Enrollments made over the phone are processed within 1 business day. If you provide(d) your email address at the time of enrollment, you will receive a Welcome Email with a Temporary I.D. card within 3-4 business days of your enrollment being processed. If you need your Member Guide or Identification Card sooner, please call our Customer Service team at 1-800-500-0685 for assistance.
How does EA+ work with my medical insurance?
EA+ is an important stop-gap between what your medical plan covers and emergency medical services most health insurance plans never cover. EA+ provides for emergency medical or ambulance evacuation, to get you to a medically appropriate facility if medically necessary, or home once you are stable enough to travel after your medical emergency. It arranges for medical experts to oversee your treatment and even helps your loved ones stay informed with a 24-hour toll-free emergency relay service.
Are there any restrictions about which countries I can visit and still be covered?
Yes. If you are traveling in a country on the OFAC-sanctioned list, you are not covered by EA+ . If you’re unsure of the status of a country you are planning to visit, call us before your trip to ensure you will be covered at your destination. Please visit www.emergencyassistanceplus.com/OFAC for a current list of countries with OFAC-sanctioned restrictions.
How do I use EA+ once I activate full privileges?
Your official EA+ Identification Card will be mailed to you in your Welcome Packet as soon as you complete your enrollment. This customized I.D. lists the toll-free hotline. (You'll want to keep this I.D. in your wallet. Most people tuck it right next to their medical plan I.D. card.)
Then if you're suddenly faced with an emergency when you're traveling away from home, first call 911, then call the emergency number located on the back of your I.D. card, which is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. EA+ will immediately jump in from there. It's very important to make sure that all family members are aware that you have EA+ in the event that you are unable to communicate with medical personnel.
What services does EA+ offer to me when I am planning a trip?
If you want help before your trip, EA+ will get you the latest details on consular services, inoculations, visas and travel advisories. Then, anytime during your trip, you can call EA+ for up-to-date Security Intelligence - vital if you feel threatened by political or social unrest, bad weather, or any environmental hazards.
What if I see a doctor outside of the U.S. who will only accept cash?
EA+ can help you secure emergency cash transfers for unexpected medical bills, against your valid credit card.
Who is included under the Emergency Assistance Plus family plan?
As long as you sign up for the family plan, all family members who meet the definition of dependent will be covered: your spouse (to include legally recognized domestic partner); your unmarried children from birth and through age 18; or through age 22 if enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited college, university, vocational, or technical school; and children whose support is required by a court decree. Children must be primarily dependent on you for support and maintenance and must live in a parent-child relationship with you.
Do my spouse and I have to be traveling together to be covered?
No. If you are enrolled in the family membership, then your spouse is protected by EA+ whether or not he or she is traveling with you. The family membership gives your spouse access to the exact same services as you.
What if I have my kids or grandkids traveling with me, will they be cared for?
Yes, if you are traveling with your minor kids or grandkids and you can't continue the trip, and the kids would be left alone due to your hospitalization, EA+ will coordinate and provide transportation home for them. If need be, EA+ will also provide a qualified escort to see they get home safely.
If my whole family is caught in a medical emergency, are you able to provide evacuation service for all of us?
If a family membership was purchased and if the whole family medically requires transportation from a medically inappropriate to an appropriate facility, this service will be covered. Each family member must meet the definition of dependent.
If I am traveling alone will EA+ fly a family member to my bedside?
Yes, if you are hospitalized and it is determined you would benefit from a person of your choice to be by your bedside, EA+ will coordinate and provide one round trip ticket for anyone you choose to come to your bedside, even if you are on the other side of the world.
What about my vehicle, will it be left stranded if I am flown home?
If your medical emergency stops you from driving your personal vehicle, including motorcycle or RV, back home and your companion can't drive it either, EA+ will get it back home for you, anywhere in North America.

What Is Travel Assistance?
Looking for info on travel assistance? This post has answers for costs, services, and use cases.
Published on June 6th, 2023 in Travel Assistance
Travel assistance is a service consumers can buy that provides help individuals and families may need while traveling away from home. Often, the services are designed to assist people during and after medical emergencies and are available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, and 365 days per year.
Travel assistance is different from travel insurance in that the latter is designed to offer monetary compensation for unexpected losses while traveling. Travel insurance typically does not offer much support to resolve the issue while you’re actually on your trip.
In this post we’re going to provide in-depth answers to what travel assistance programs cover, how much it costs, how it functions, its services, and who should use it.
Let’s get started!
What does travel assistance cover?
Travel assistance programs can arrange medical evacuation, medical assistance, and repatriation … to name a few. Travel assistance is designed to help travelers who are in an emergency situation solve their problem and get home via a huge range of support services.
Every assistance program is different, but in general, here are some additional types of support you may be able to receive, depending on which program you choose (examples from EA+):
- Arranging medical evacuation and/or repatriation
- Help making flight arrangements
- Real-time security intelligence
- Emergency message relay
- Emergency cash advance
- Prescription replacement
- Destination intelligence
- Document replacement
- Language interpretation
- Help with lost luggage
- Legal assistance
- Medical referrals
This list is far from comprehensive, but hopefully you can get a sense of the services. If you’d like to see a specific travel assistance package and its associated costs, please check out our website or give us a call: 1-866-863-4460 .
How does travel assistance work?
Travel assistance is simple:
- Enroll in a plan
- Access your services with a phone call when you need help
- The company takes it from there
The service delivery side contains a few more pertinent details, however.
Travel assistance companies can offer help no matter which part of the world you’re in—foreign or domestic. The global network of the Emergency Assistance Plus program, for example, has:
- Access to 1,500 air ambulances
- Response centers on six continents
- 61 different medical provider partnerships
- In-house medical teams of doctors and nurses
- Multi-lingual teams managing more than 7,000 medical cases per year
This means that with a single phone call, you can activate local emergency services no matter where you are and obtain emergency medical care with ease, among many other services.
How much does travel assistance cost?
Travel assistance pricing varies based on the type of plan you choose and costs are commonly structured as an annual membership, although shorter membership terms may be available from some providers. For example, Emergency Assistance Plus offers plans starting at $199 a year, but if you are a member of one of their more than 100 partners, you can save $70 on an annual membership. Other providers will vary.
Here’s a handy pricing and coverage chart for a few popular programs:
1 All providers include limits to the number of evacuations that will be provided for a single injury, illness or hospitalization – including EA+. Please review the plan materials carefully to ensure you fully understand all rules and regulations.
This comparison is accurate to the best of our knowledge as of 4/3/23.
What are the benefits of travel assistance?
Help when you need it
As we mentioned, travel insurance is great for helping you recoup costs once your trip is over, but it provides little help during your actual emergency or problem.
For instance, let’s say you needed to end your trip early due to a medical emergency and required a different flight home. With travel insurance, you would need to make all your own travel arrangements, pay for them upfront, then submit a claim to have them reimbursed when you got home.
With a travel assistance plan from EA+, assuming your medical emergency was qualified, we would make all of the travel arrangements on your behalf so you can focus on getting home. This means you also don’t have to make a payment out of pocket or submit a claim for reimbursement.
No medical or age discrimination and no trip limitations
With EA+, you don’t need to take any medical exams to purchase a plan and there are no age limits. Additionally, you can travel as often as you’d like and to any destination you choose, although countries with Level 4 travel advisories due to political unrest may have certain types of service limits.
Note: Not all travel assistance providers offer the same level of access without restrictions, so check the fine print carefully.
Reduces risk of massive financial impact
When an emergency happens abroad or on the road, the costs of solving the problem can be massive.
For example, according to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners ( NAIC ), the median cost of using an air ambulance is between $36,000 – $40,000. Additionally, more than 550,000 Americans use air ambulance services each year.
And if you have a health emergency on a domestic RV trip and need somebody to transport your vehicle, long-distance towing rates can cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars. If you had travel assistance with EA+, however, all of these costs would be covered, including arranging to return your RV home.
Peace of mind
There’s nothing quite like the confidence of going into a trip knowing you can get help if you have an emergency, you’re covered financially, and you have access to a team of experts worldwide to make sure you and your family are safe and cared for.
Who should get travel assistance?
Travel assistance is perfect for frequent travelers, or for those who travel domestically in ways that they wouldn’t normally take out travel insurance (road trips, family vacations, snow birds, etc.) Considering how affordable EA+ is, everyone who takes at least one trip per year would benefit.
This is particularly important, however, for people with medical conditions and/or family members depending on them.
Here’s what one of our members had to say:
“I had planned to travel throughout South America, learning the language and the culture. While I was visiting the Galapagos I had a bicycle accident and broke my leg. The care there is very limited, so I needed to return to the US in order to have surgery.
EA+ put all my worries to rest. They worked directly with the clinic to ensure I was receiving the proper dosage of medication (good for me since my Spanish was rusty!). Once I was medically cleared to travel by the EA+ medical team, they even arranged for a flight home and a Nurse Escort to assist me on the flight. EA+ made everything so easy and I can’t thank you enough.”

L.A. tenants awaiting emergency rental assistance receive eviction protection
T he Los Angeles City Council adopted an ordinance Friday that prevents the eviction of tenants who are waiting to receive emergency rental assistance from the city.
The vote came one day after the deadline to pay rent debt accumulated during the COVID-19 pandemic .
More than 3,200 residents have been approved for the United to House L.A. Emergency Renters Assistance Program, which provides up to six months of unpaid rent for accepted applicants. Only 25% of the $30.4 million allocated for rental assistance has been distributed.
That means a significant number of renters who have been promised emergency funds have not yet received their money. Thousands more are waiting to hear if they have been approved for the program, which has received more than 31,000 applications.
Only those who have been approved will receive eviction protection.
Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez, who introduced the motion to draft the ordinance last week, said prevention is essential while fighting homelessness. She wants to stem the eviction-to-homelessness pipeline, she said.
“I don't see us getting out of this homelessness crisis unless we as a city truly make transformational policy decisions around keeping people in their housing,” she said.
There are not enough funds to assist every United to House L.A. applicant — according to Los Angeles Housing Department data, there were $472 million in claims from applicants, nearly $454 million more than the total available. Applications closed in October .
It will take roughly 120 days from now for all applications to be processed. All applicants approved on or before May 31 will be protected from eviction, according to the draft ordinance the City Council voted to adopt Friday. Renters waiting to hear back will be at risk of eviction until their application is approved.
Eviction protection applies only if the sole reason for eviction is nonpayment of rent.
An earlier version of the motion that led to the ordinance would have protected all renters who applied for emergency funds regardless of their application status. Groups representing property owners raised concerns that this would lead to an indefinite delay of rent payments without the option to evict.
“We’re thankful that the council narrowed it down to a smaller pool of individuals who have been approved,” said Fred Sutton, senior vice president of local public affairs for the California Apartment Assn.
“But there remains the concern that this whole item was really rushed in a manner that isn't acceptable,” he said.
The City Council motion that prompted the ordinance was introduced Jan. 24 and approved Jan. 26. The ordinance was then drafted and adopted Feb. 2. Hernandez said it was necessary to move fast considering Thursday’s deadline.
Rental arrears from Oct. 1, 2021, to Jan. 31, 2023, were due Thursday, the same day rent increases became allowed for units that fall under the city’s rent stabilization ordinance. Tenants living in rent-stabilized units could see rent increases of up to 4%, or 6% if the landlord pays for gas and electricity.
“Housing is a human right,” Hernandez said. “For the Feb. 1 rent deadline to happen on the same day that rent increases take place, it’s just really sad.”
Amid the challenges renters face, Hernandez said she hopes this ordinance will provide the protection necessary to keep people off the street.
“With just a little bit of help, they will stay in their housing,” she said.
