Shania Twain is a Canadian country music singer-songwriter originally from Ontario who is often affectionally referred to as "The Queen of Country Pop".

After Shania, real name Eileen Edwards graduated from Timmins High in June 1983 she quickly began her pursuit of a musical career after being involved with musicians and bands during her studies. She began experimenting with music yet following the tragic death of her mother and stepfather in a car accident she returned to her hometown to care for her younger siblings.

It was a number of years later that she released her solo album titled 'Shania Twain' through Mercury Nashville records which went on to chart at #67 on the US Country Charts. From this album, Shania's fame and success simply sky rocketed at an alarming pace that nobody could quite predict. 'The Woman in Me' debuted at #5 on the US charts and #6 in Canada, it featured a selection of country hit singles such as 'The Woman in Me (Needs the Man in You)', 'Any Man of Mine' and 'You Win My Love'. In total it featured six number one Country singles and two other top ten hits. It holds a two times diamond selling certificate in Canada and twelves times platinum selling in the States.

Her next album 'Come On Over' was an even greater success. It features two global hits of the 1990s, 'You're Still The One' and 'That Don't Impress Me Much' which charted around the world and turned Shania Twain into a household name. This album holds a twenty times platinum selling certificate in the US, a twelve times platinum in the UK and another double diamond in Canada. It is the highest selling Country album of all time. Shortly after the release of her 2002 album 'Up!' Shania was inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame due to her huge musical success.

Her next album has been delayed for a number of years, she has since released a Greatest Hits package which featured three new tracks and in 2011 she reappeared with her first single in six years 'Today Is Your Day'. To date Twain has sold 85 million albums worldwide making her one of Country music's most successful female artists of all time.

Live reviews

Queen of country pop, Shania Twain, certainly knows how to put on a show. Currently a resident performer at Caesar’s Palace, Las Vegas, Shania is a real crowd pleaser.

This May I paid the venue a visit and boy did I enjoy the show! The opening number is truly spectacular. Three electric guitars jam along to the intro ‘Man I Feel like a Woman’ as strobe lights flash against a backdrop screen showing fire and explosions. Slowly, giant letters spelling the name ‘SHANIA’ descend from the ceiling. Then comes the distinctive trumpet blare and Twain announces in her trademark sultry tones, ‘let’s go girls!’ Stunning! What an opening to get the crowd going!

The show continues in a similar vein, with equally pleasing renditions of ‘That Don’t Impress Me Much’ and ‘I’m Gona Getcha Good.’ This show is guaranteed to get you singing and dancing along. I especially enjoyed the chance to let loose to my favourite tunes from my ’90s childhood!

Twain managed to lend the show an intimate feel in the huge arena, chatting to the audience between songs. The country queen even throws her hat into crowd during the final number, inviting whoever catches it to meet her backstage after the show! Shania Twain’s Caesar’s Palace show is one of the most fun nights out I’ve ever had and I’d thoroughly recommend checking it out.

Watching Shania Twain perform live is like watching an icon. Perhaps because it is watching an icon. Shania Twain is, without a doubt, the queen of Country. Hailing from Ontario, Canada, Twain has made a massive name for herself in the music industry and is one of the most famous names in Country music. Her style is really more Country pop, and her songs are catchy and fun. Even her ballads are catchy and her voice is undeniably beautiful and authentic. She performed all her greatest hits, including the massive ‘Man, I Feel Like a Woman’ (which opened the show on a great note), ‘You’re Still the One’ and the highly anticipated ‘That Don’t Impress Me Much’. The latter song was met with a tremendous uproar as the crowd went wild and started singing along so loudly and robustly that the entire venue was trembling with the force of it. Shania was accompanied with a team of brilliant musicians. The violinists were particularly brilliant. Shania herself owned the stage, running around and singing with such enthusiasm and confidence.

It's rumoured nothing impresses Shania Twain very much but luckily for her fans the live show impresses them plenty. The Canadian singer/songwriter is one of the world's highest selling female artists of all time with a universal appeal so as you can imagine, the touring obligations are pretty serious when you have a fanbase this large to reach.

Unfortunately her appearances in the UK are often dwarfed by her commitments to the States although when she does appear on the British isles, the fans turn out in force. She is an unarguable diva with a stage presence all of her own, she commands everybody else onstage including the musicians, the dancers and even some of the technical crew. Then you take a glance at the hit laced setlist and realise she has 'Man! I Feel Like A Woman' '(If You're Not in It for Love) I'm Outta Here!' 'Come On Over' and 'You're Still the One' to keep the crowds singing, dancing and cheering along with effortless ease.

Fun Concert. Tons of ladies in the audience for a girls night out feel, still some guys though. Shania's male band members were on stage at times for that extra feel. You can't help but dance by a few songs. From her earlier days to mid-career hits and a few later, the pickings were getcha good. When it comes to props, she was "going up" and I enjoyed her outfit changes and some pre-recorded screen coverage of her beautiful in satin. "I feel like a woman!" It was a great concert to celebrate my birthday in my prime. Boots for myself would have enhanced mirroring the event!

I had the best time of my life she was everything I expected and more it was a present for my 65th birthday and I certainly wasn't disappointed I loved every minute of it it was absolutely fantastic I couldn't walk after it for a couple of days but it was worth it I've waited 20 years to see her and she was as good as the day she started out and just as beautiful can't wait to see her again could have stayed there all night and we just got home from New Jersey that morning love love loved it

five outta five stars

She has NOT her style! From the moment she stepped out on stage she kept the momentum goin! The highlight was a polish guy proposed to his NOW fiancee twice once in Polish and then in English! They stayed "Up!" there for "You're Still The One" which is really sweet! From This Moment On was another beautifully song sung perfectly by the 1999 CMA Entertainer of the year! It's no wonder why she's Billboards #1 tour!

It was an awesome show. I love the fact that she entered through one of the seating sections and surprised the audience. The stage was visually spectacular with huge LED box screens and a great drummer and musicians.

She had amazing dancers who were also back up singers. The music was great and as always Shania sounded and looked spectacular. Even my husband loved the song. ❤❤

Beyond AMAZING! The energy level, the stage production, the dancers, the musicians, the opening act, and definitely the star herself

made the evening memorable. Loved the way Shania "connected" with the audience. Just wish the musicians names and hometowns were shared. Even if it was credits that scrolled at the end. Entertainer of the Year award worthy performance!

Shania Twain

Shania Twain’s Queen of Me Tour rolled into New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Tuesday (July 11), bringing with it a formidable catalog of country classics as well as a kick-ass opener, Breland, one of the more promising fresh faces in country music.

But Breland – who joined Shania mid-show on “Inhale/Exhale Air” from her 2023 album Queen of Me – wasn’t the only surprise guest. NBC Today anchor Hoda Kotb, who is apparently text message pals with Shania, came out and duetted with the legend on one of her best-loved tunes. Plus, several lucky fans got the chance to share the stage with Twain over the course of the night.

“This really is the time of my life, and I really mean that,” Twain said before her raucous three-song encore. “I’m loving life and I’m loving all these moments. I’m overwhelmed by the welcome.”

She also announced that there’s a 25th anniversary edition of her indispensable 1997 album Come On Over on the way, which will features new mixes as well as live recordings of its songs with guests like Elton John, Chris Martin and Alison Krauss & Union Station. Come On Over – 25th Anniversary Diamond Edition drops Aug. 25 via Mercury/UMe and is available for pre-order now ; Come On Over is the best-selling album from a female artist in the Luminate era (1991-present), giving her three of her seven No. 1s on the Hot Country Songs chart.

From duetting with a broadcast legend to wearing the costume from the “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” music video on stage for the first time ever, here are the best moments from Shania Twain’s NYC tour stop.

A Duet With Hoda

It was a surprise moment we never knew we needed. Shania Twain brought out Today show anchor Hoda Kotb (“we text all the time,” she casually mentioned) to help her celebrate a career milestone (more on that later). Kotb, purple mic in hand, was afforded the treat of a lifetime when Twain blended voices with the broadcast legend for a short a cappella duet on her GOAT ballad “You’re Still the One” before doing the full song (sans Kotb).

In addition to the delightful duet, Kotb helped Twain celebrate the fact that Come On Over has sold more than 20 million copies in the U.S. alone with a double diamond platinum plaque. “I am honored to be on this stage in this beautiful Madison Square Garden in the great city of New York to celebrate an incredible moment for this lovely, incredible human being,” Kotb said. Twain, for her part, seemed genuinely touched: “It’s incredible what’s happened with this album and that all of you are still here supporting me.”

Man! I Feel Like Raiding a Museum!

Twain naturally closes out her Queen of Me shows with one of her best-known songs, “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!”, but the July 11 stop in NYC was a little bit different. For the first time ever, she wore her iconic outfit from the music video, designed by Marc Bouwer, during a live performance of the song. “This costume hasn’t seen a stage before, it’s the original,” Twain said, noting the corset has been “in a museum collecting dust,” so she decided to take it out for a spin. (Yes, a quarter of a century later, it still fits perfectly.)

Hyde Your Kids

In addition to bringing several couples onstage as she sang “From This Moment On,” Twain brought up two life-long listeners for a special moment with her. The fans, one from Canada, the other from the U.K., became besties in NYC, bonding over their love for Shania; before long, they both realized they had been to the same Shania show in London’s Hyde Park when they were both eight years old. “It’s lovely that you met through music and you’re here all these years later,” Twain said.

Honey Badgering

Sometimes, you gotta sing for your supper, and Shania put the MSG crowd to work before a spirited take on “Honey, I’m Home.” Dividing the MSG crowd into three sections, Twain asked each one to sing the word “honey” in a different key – and she wasn’t playing around. After an unsatisfactory test run from one side of the arena, she asked another side to perform, which it did admirably. “See? That’s how it’s done,” she jokingly chided the first group of people.

Dance With the One That Brought You

We’d be remiss not to salute her two backup dancers, whose enthusiasm and verve kept the energy up the entire show. The duo’s tap-dancing showdown interlude, which gave Twain a chance to change costumes, was far more impressive and entertaining than the kind of video segments stars typically use to keep the audience occupied when they’re off stage.

Memories to Boot

There were a few reflective moments throughout the course of the night. Twain shared how Dolly Parton’s songwriting influenced her growing up and recalled the inauspicious circumstances under which her first hit on the Billboard country charts was written. Acoustic guitar in hand, she shared how “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?” was penned in a quiet cabin with no running water. She then performed a short acoustic take on it, before bringing out the full band (and an alien chasing a horse on the video screen – don’t ask) for the more familiar rocking version, since “it became a sh-t kicker” during the studio sessions.

Shania Twain, 58, is unrecognizable as fans are left baffled by dramatic transformation

Country music legend Shania Twain sent fans into a frenzy after a dramatic style reinvention left them unable to recognize her .

The 58-year-old star debuted a pastel pink hairdo on Instagram in a drastic shift from her usual brunette and blonde locks that had fans doing a double take.

The image, an unpublished pic from her April Haute Living cover shoot, features the singer with candy pink locks playfully framing her smiling face. In the caption, she shares her love for the candid shot saying: "I love this outtake from the @hauteliving cover shoot because you can FEEL how much fun I was having."

Her closing words were a playful heads up to fans: "Expect me to be coloring my hair, doing what I dare in Vegas, sorry not sorry! !"

In the comments section, many fans were stunned by her dramatic transformation with several remarking she bore a striking resemblance to other celebrities. One individual asked: "Anyone else think this was Sofia Vergara? " They were swiftly joined by another exclaiming: "First thought."

An amazed third concurred: "I did yes actually I'm not alone then." Meanwhile, another follower found a different likeness, candidly offering: "I was thinking Denise Richards." and another pointed out: "That picture does not even come close to looking like you."

Others simply didn't have any comparison, as one puzzled fan chimed in with: "Who the f is this? ? ? ! ! ! "

This news follows Shania's involvement in a bus accident last November while on the Canadian segment of her Queen Of Me tour. The incident occurred as the bus was en route from Winnipeg to Saskatoon, with Shania aboard.

Following the accident, crew members received prompt medical attention at a hospital, and it was confirmed that Shania was unharmed. She reached out to her followers on Instagram to provide an update.

The star expressed her gratitude, posting: "Thank you so much for the outpour of love and support from everyone. First and foremost my touring family is safe." She added: "Anyone needing medical care is receiving great support. The local community and every single crew person has been phenomenal, in the face of a very scary scenario. Hug and hold those you love, we are doing the same!"

Shania's representatives at Maverick Management disclosed to The Mirror that the crash was caused by "dangerous driving conditions due to inclement weather" and involved several vehicles, including "one crew bus and one truck". They stated: "Members of the production crew who require medical attention have been taken to nearby hospitals. We are incredibly thankful to the emergency services teams for their quick response and ongoing support. We ask for patience as we look after our touring family."

A ‘more free-spirited’ Shania Twain is here — in the form of her iconic Barbie

shania twain

Shania Twain's voice begins to crack when she starts talking about her Barbie.

“I’m going to refer to her ,” Twain says, looking at her own Barbie doll, dressed in the same outfit the Canadian singer wore in the music video for her hit song “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!”

The iconic music video for the empower ing anthem premiered 25 years ago in March 1999, and now, as Barbie’s 65th anniversary approaches on March 9, Mattel is honoring Twain and seven other global role models with one-of-a-kind dolls in their likeness.

“This is a more free-spirited Shania, and that is where I’m at right now,” Twain says of her doll. “I’m just feeling more free spirited than ever. I’m very inspired, and I’m letting my imagination run wild and crazy.”

“And I think that’s what Barbie should do anyway for everybody,” she continues. “I’m lucky because I’ve been able to manifest my imagination in real life and Barbie’s captured it.”

Twain, 58, tells TODAY.com she chose to have her Barbie in her “Man! I Feel like a Woman!” outfit because of her experience on her last tour , where she would wear the outfit during the encore and change up her hairstyles every night.

“That was me sharing my classic self with the audience,” Twain says of sticking with the original costume. “But the one that I think captured the classic and the contemporary was this look with the super long, pinky blond hair, which is quite opposite from the original look.”

Shania Twain Barbie

Twain’s Barbie features her “Man! I Feel like a Woman!” outfit, but as described, has blond hair with bright-pink tones underneath.

In addition to Twain, who represents Canada, Viola Davis (United States), Lila Avilés (Mexico), Enissa Amani (Germany), Helen Mirren (United Kingdom), Maira Gomez (Brazil), Kylie Minogue (Australia) and Nicole Fujita (Japan) will also get dolls of their own in honor of International Women’s Day on March 8 and the 65th anniversary of Barbie the next day.

25 years of 'Man! I Feel Like A Woman!'

Almost 25 years to the day after the video for "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!" was released, Twain shares what the song meant to her when she wrote it.

“Well, I’ll start by saying that it started with the song, but the song was written as a genuine exclamation to myself — me expressing how great it was starting to feel to be a woman,” Twain says.

Twain says she thinks many of the challenges she's faced in her life have been because she's a woman.

“The more I started to mature into the shape of a female, the more difficult it got,” she says. “The more difficult it became to be taken seriously for my thinking, for my talents, for my skills, for what I had to say or what I wanted to say.”

The singer has been open about her struggles with body i mage in the music industry and trauma from her past , and has since been rediscovering herself through her artistry and fashion.

“It’s the only skin I have,” she told TODAY's Hoda Kotb in January 2023. “I don’t have a choice. Otherwise, I’m going to hate myself for the rest of my life. So it’s time to start loving myself in my own skin and really embracing that and not be embarrassed or shy of it and this is who I am.”

Twain tells TODAY.com she first started to feel good again in her own skin while writing “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!”

“When I wrote ‘Man! I Feel Like A Woman!,’ that was the beginning of me going, ‘Huh. I am actually enjoying — not rejecting but enjoying — that fashion can make me feel so feminine and feel good about being feminine,” she explains.

She shares that, at the time, she was still somewhat afraid to show her feminine side in her music and her fashion choices due to fears she wouldn’t be taken seriously.

“But ‘Man! I Feel Like A Woman!’ was the end of all of that. That was me saying, ‘OK, this is all of me,’” she says. “This is the woman and it’s the brain and it’s the creator and it’s all of those things. It’s the whole package.”

Shania Twain

“And I was really, from that moment, embracing it in my own mind in real time,” she adds.

In recent years, Twain has debuted a multitude of hair colors and styles, including a light pink look on TODAY in January 2023, where she also discussed how posing completely nude for a photo shoot for part of her “Queen of Me” album cover boosted her confidence.

“I’m so glad I did that,” Twain said on TODAY. “Once I flipped that switch and dove into it ... I committed 100%, and I wasn’t thinking about what anybody thought. I didn’t think about who was in the room. This is about me. This is my moment to really embrace myself in vulnerable moments.”

“It had to be vulnerable, where I felt that I was facing a fear of being judged, or being maybe even laughed at, at being embarrassed,” Twain continued. “But it was only empowering. It was really fabulous.”

Vegas residency and Harry Styles (swoon)

Twain is about to embark on the next phase of her career: her “Come on Over” residency in Las Vegas set to begin May 10.

“The residency in Vegas is going to be very, very interactive with the audience. The proximity is really something that I like to take advantage of in Las Vegas because the audience is so close,” she says. “I love the spontaneity of interaction with the audience.”

She promises an exciting show: “It’s going to be all hits. So anyone who comes to the show can count on knowing the music. It’s going to be a show of celebration. I don’t want to give everything away so that there’s some things to look forward to, but it’ll be a very energetic show and it’ll be up close and personal.”

While she doesn’t offer up any details on if she’ll have special guests during the residency, she does dreamily reminisce of taking the stage with Harry Styles during his Coachella set in 2022 .

“It was such a big moment — I’m never going to get over that moment either,” Twain says. “It was really, really lovely and beautiful.”

There is one thing Twain says she will definitely be bringing with her to Vegas, though: her own Barbie.

“Oh, my gosh, I am!” she vows.

Taylor Swift unveils new ‘Tortured Poets Department’ outfits at Eras Tour in Paris

Just call it tortured couture.

Following a two-month break, Taylor Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour resumed in Paris, France, on Thursday — and along with adding several songs from her latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” to the already-sprawling setlist, the superstar treated lucky ticket holders to some fresh fashion, too.

Swift performed new tunes “But Daddy I Love Him,” “So High School,” “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?,” “Down Bad” and “Fortnight” wearing a white taffeta dress with a corseted bodice, dramatic hip draping and her own lyrics (“I love you, it’s ruining my life”) scrawled down the high-low skirt — a custom design by Vivienne Westwood, as the brand confirmed to Page Six Style.

Taylor Swift performing

She accessorized with one of the house’s signature three-row Orb chokers ($720) and, before launching into “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived,” topped off her gown with a matching white trench coat featuring military-style epaulettes and frogging.

Swift then switched things up with an on-stage costume change, stripping down to a second Vivienne Westwood ensemble: a black crystal-embellished bra top and briefs, which she layered beneath a metallic gold tailcoat with black crystal-embellished lapels to close out the “TTPD” section with “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.”

Taylor Swift performing

The new costumes are perfectly in line with the literature-inspired looks Swift’s been exploring while promoting “TTPD” — think corsets, pleated skirts and plenty of black and white .

“There’s definitely a ‘literary academia’ style that’s going on,” Taylor Swift Style blogger Sarah Chapelle told Page Six Style last month. “The [visuals] are telling a very cohesive story, which is clearly pointing to being inspired by female poets of the past.”

The “Black Dog” singer collaborated with a number of major fashion houses on her stage styles for the Eras Tour, all of which are inspired by her past album aesthetics .

Taylor Swift performing

Standouts include the bedazzled Atelier Versace bodysuits Swift wears during the “Lover” section of her performance, the sparkling Roberto Cavalli crop-top-and-miniskirt combos she sports for the “1989” segment and the flowing, fluttering Alberta Ferretti gowns that add ethereal drama to the “Folklore” portion of the show.

And given that the aforementioned brands provided several different color variations of each look for Swift to rotate between as her tour rolls on, additional “TTPD” costumes are practically guaranteed to pop up at the shows ahead.
