The Safari Room at Ocean Cliff Hotel: Newport, RI

The Safari Room Restaurant and Bar at OceanCliff is known for providing extraordinary culinary experiences both indoors and out. They offer a great selection of fresh local seafood, prime aged beef, and exotic house specialties. If you manage to tear your eyes off your plate, you can enjoy panoramic views of Narragansett Bay and the Newport Pell Bridge. They also have a surprisingly affordable wine list with bottles starting with $40.

The Safari Room

We dined at The Safari Room in September. Our reservation was for 6 PM and by 7:30. They brought out heating lamps, which was great because it got a little chilly. Even on a warm evening, bring an extra layer to fight the cold winds. We had the most spectacular view and enjoyed delicious food paired with yummy wine. Their hours are Monday-Thursday: 4-8:30 pm and Friday-Sunday: 12-8:30 pm – they are closed on Tuesdays.

Vegans and vegetarians beware, there are a few meat-free options as the menu is catered towards seafood lovers. Although I’m sure they would try to accommodate a specific diet if you asked. The staff is great and attentive. Plus, it’s worth coming for just drinks and the view if they don’t serve anything that you can eat. Speaking of which, you can find their menu here .

Ocean Cliff Hotel

Eating at the Safari Room made me curious about staying at Ocean Cliff Hotel . I would love to enjoy a sunrise and a sunset from this beautiful hotel. The rooms are spectacular, high in square footage with amenities that include kitchenettes, fireplaces and Jacuzzis. Their larger rooms cost about $240 per night right now – however prices may be skewed due to COVID-19. Check the hotel out here .

Other Activities in Newport & Nearby

We love Newport and have done a lot of fun activities here. We actually discovered this hotel while taking a sunset boat cruise . If you’re looking for a spa experiences, consider the Bodhi Spa . For lovers of all things water, check out the Gansett Cruises: Morning Narrated Mimosa Cruise . If you are here around Christmas, see if you can enjoy the Illuminated Boat Parade . Slightly further away, check out the Fort Wetherill in Jamestown – it is on a beautiful cliff and covered in colorful graffiti!

Summary: The Safari Room

Eating at the Safari Room was a wonderful experience! It was surprisingly affordable with prices that don’t differ much from our usual go-to, Iggy’s at Oakland Beach . The view is absolutely priceless and we will definitely be coming back. We are hoping to make this our monthly date night spot! I highly recommend that you check it out for yourself.
