Sabre's tripcase releases its leading travel app for apple watch.
Sabre's TripCase releases its leading travel app for Apple Watch 117.8 KB
SOUTHLAKE, Texas , April 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Sabre Corporation (NASDAQ: SABR) announced today that its leading travel management app, TripCase , will be available on the Apple Watch when it is released on Friday, bringing convenience and simplicity for on-the-go travelers.
The newest version of TripCase , which is one of the fastest growing mobile travel apps, allows Apple Watch users to access their most relevant, time-sensitive trip information - including the ability to receive real-time flight alerts at a glance of their wrist.
Tom Klein , Sabre President and CEO. "Sabre has long been a leader in bringing mobile technology to travel suppliers and buyers, including our Sabre Red Mobile Workspace for travel agents, mobile check-in and traveler notification services for airlines, and a full suite of digital marketing and mobile solutions for hotels. Now with TripCase on the Apple Watch, travel suppliers and buyers can rely on Sabre to help them serve travelers through this new device."
In addition to real-time flight alerts, travelers can access flight and hotel details from the Apple Watch including flight status and gate number as well as hotel address, phone number and confirmation code. With a quick tap of a button on the Apple Watch, TripCase users can easily save great restaurants, shops or activities they find along their journey. Additionally, travelers can access maps and directions for each activity in a trip as well as view the local time for any destination.
John Samuel , senior vice president of TripCase. "Millions of travelers rely on TripCase every day for real-time, accurate updates to their trips. Now with the Apple Watch, we can make travel even easier as travelers receive these messages on their wrist."
An analysis of the more than 30 million trips TripCase managed in 2014 shows that 70 percent of trips with air segments experienced a flight change within 72 hours of departure. Of these, 69 percent were schedule changes or delays, 29 percent were gate changes and two percent were flight cancellations.
"This analysis underscores the importance of the real-time updates that TripCase provides and shows how wearable technology will take the concept of real-time traveler interactions to another level," said Samuel. "The integration of travel services with wearable technology will drive more relevant and frequent touch points with the traveler and TripCase is leading the way."
TripCase began integrating with wearable technologies, including popular devices such as the Pebble and Android Wear, in 2014 with enhancements that allowed users to receive important trip notifications directly on their smartwatch. TripCase was the first travel management app to send rich notifications to the new Samsung Gear S.

SeatGuru Creates a Sabre Red App
Sabre’s travel agency subscribers can incorporate a new SeatGuru Red App directly into the Sabre Red Workspace to help them select the best seats for their clients. The new app, which can be ordered through the Sabre Red App Centre, is the result of a collaboration between Sabre and TripAdvisor, SeatGuru’s parent. Seat maps & reviews SeatGuru allows users to explore seat maps as well as specific seat information, such as limited recline or shortened armrests. SeatGuru also contains reviews submitted by actual travelers. For example, one comment states that “Seat 22C does not recline, and its proximity to the lavatories may be bothersome. There is also limited overhead storage at this row.” The seat information from the SeatGuru Red App will complement Sabre’s recently enhanced seat map and seat booking capabilities for airlines in the Sabre travel marketplace. Agents also will have access to information about in-flight amenities, including entertainment options, wi-fi access, power and USB ports and meals. More than 150 apps The Sabre Red App Centre, launched in March 2012, provides an open platform and marketplace for developers to build and promote applications that can be integrated into the Sabre Red Workspace. It now has more than 150 apps, with more in development by more than 70 certified providers. The apps are individual applications that plug into the Sabre Red Workspace, extending its capabilities.

The company is expanding on its role to provide a 360-degree virtual reality distribution platform, along with a myriad of marketing tools for the travel industry.
As incidences of cybercrime heat up, travel advisors can help travelers protect themselves from fraud and significant financial losses.
The brand’s new integrated online booking system now has triple the amount of hotel inventory and travel ancillaries, and enhanced filters to make searches easier for advisors.
Some fear it for its potential to replace them. Some are annoyed because it provides consumers with incomplete information. Others love Google for all of its cool tools.
With a mix of tools, talent and tenacity, co-owner Cathi Banks and her agents are becoming travel celebrities, while the agency is growing its sales.
Large travel companies use customer relationship management (CRM) tools to target clients with the right offer at the right time. Advisors should, too. The first of a three-part series.
Sabre and Revolut Push Virtual Card Use for Travel Sector
Travel industry software provider Sabre has announced the results of its collaboration with FinTech Revolut .
The two tech companies said Wednesday (Feb. 7) that they were able to onboard more than 40 customers in less than a year, with Revolut’s virtual cards now being generated within the Sabre Virtual Payments platform.
This allows customers to easily and securely pay airlines, hotels and other travel suppliers, and gives travel agencies more streamlined and agile practices, personalization and speed to market, the companies said in a news release.
“Bringing the virtual payments solutions that our travel agencies value and need is a strategic focus area and always a top priority for us, and we are thrilled to see that this partnership is doing exactly that,” said Celia Pereiro , managing director of payments at Sabre.
The companies say their partnership helped reduce the onboarding process for Sabre-connected agencies from months to days, while also providing “a flexible and secure virtual card technology” for their workflows.
It also lets agencies deliver a better experience to travel suppliers, “who now can get paid on time in their preferred currency, using negotiated payment acceptance rates,” the release said.
As PYMNTS wrote in a separate report Wednesday, research shows a strong correlation between virtual card use and companies and industries achieving high operational efficiency.
But despite this benefit, virtual card adoption has been slower than expected, with PYMNTS Intelligence research suggesting that virtual cards are expected to emerge as the chief working capital solution for just 5% of middle-market companies this year.
In an interview with PYMNTS, Court Toomey, head of Commercial Payments and Product at Plastiq by Priority , cited a lack of consistency among various banks’ offerings as a critical factor holding back adoption, creating obstacles for businesses trying to navigate the landscape.
Internal implementation is another roadblock, especially for companies with limited team sizes, leading to holdups in the setup process, he said.
All the same, Toomey argued that the benefits far outweigh the initial costs, and committing a small effort upfront can lead to substantial long-term gains .
“There are amazing efficiencies that can be captured as long as [businesses are] willing to put in just a little bit of work on the front end,” he told PYMNTS.

Sabre and Revolut partner to benefit travel agencies through virtual payments
S abre, a software and technology provider serving the global travel industry, and fintech challenger bank, Revolut, have highlighted the successful results of their partnership. The two firms are collaborating to optimise the B2B payments process for travel agencies.
The two tech companies have onboarded over 40 customers in less than a year. They say that their partnership is changing the financial landscape for travel agencies. Revolut’s virtual cards are now generated within the Sabre Virtual Payments platform. This allows customers to easily pay airlines, hotels and other travel suppliers with enhanced flexibility and security. In turn, travel agencies using Sabre Virtual Payments enjoy more streamlined and agile practices, personalisation and speed to market.
“Bringing the virtual payments solutions that our travel agencies value and need is a strategic focus area. It is always a top priority for us, and we are thrilled that this partnership is doing exactly that. I’m very proud of the great collaboration between our Sabre Virtual Payments team and Revolut. Especially when it comes to implementation times, addressing operational efficiency and cross-border B2B payments needs for our customers,” said Celia Pereiro, Managing Director of Payments at Sabre.
Revolut, Sabre partnership addresses pain points for travel agencies
Rapid onboarding process has been reduced from months to just days. This allows customers to start transacting and paying suppliers swiftly and efficiently.
The collaboration enables seamless integration of a flexible and secure virtual card technology into their existing workflows.
Moreover, it gives access to a comprehensive suite of commercial card products that improve payment acceptance rates. It also offers preferential rates in the conversion of one country’s currency into another. Real-time insights through a streamlined Foreign Exchange management provides unparalleled transparency and visibility across international payments while facilitating informed decision-making.
And it allows the agencies to provide a better experience for travel suppliers. They can now get paid on time in their preferred currency, using negotiated payment acceptance rates.
"Revolut is excited to drive digitalisation in the travel sector alongside our partners at Sabre. Together, we are streamlining transactions through our suite of virtual cards, real-time foreign exchange and API-based payment products. We brought our joint offering to dozens of businesses this year. We look forward to delivering even more value to customers,” added Will Hannan, Global Head of Embedded Finance Sales, Revolut.
"Sabre and Revolut partner to benefit travel agencies through virtual payments " was originally created and published by Electronic Payments International , a GlobalData owned brand.

Digital companions for ITB Berlin 2024: ITB app and ITBxplore with new features
The ITBxplore experience is all about networking. Users can make their profiles visible, search for exhibitors, and engage with them and other attendees through the online chat. Buyers Circle members, the handpicked senior buyers at ITB Berlin, are marked ’ITB Buyers Circle’ under ITBxplore, making it even easier to identifying them.
In only a few weeks, the halls of ITB Berlin and ITB Berlin Convention will open from 5 to 7 March on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds . This year, a mobile app with many useful features is again available to attendees. The platform ITBxplore has been further developed for the laptop and equipped with a range of new features. Both tools help visitors, exhibitors and the media prepare for a successful visit.
ITBxplore: focus on networking
With ITBxplore, users once again have an innovative, digital platform at their fingertips for networking and research. In the run-up to ITB Berlin they can navigate the exhibitor portfolio, plan their visit to the ITB Berlin Convention and schedule appointments. After buying a ticket to ITB Berlin or obtaining accreditation, users can create a free personal profile on ITBxplore, giving them access to all functions.
Exhibitor lists and product highlights provide a comprehensive overview of the global markets and products at ITB Berlin 2024. The hall plan makes planning easy and pinpoints the stands of individual exhibitors. As well as tried and tested features, users can look forward to many innovations this year – including an optimised diary management tool in the Communication Center, additional diary functions that link to Outlook, and simplified functions for requesting and confirming dates. Updating a profile is easier now too. Based on a user’s own personal interests, the system suggests tailored business contacts.
The programme section under ITBxplore lists a wide range of events, including the official ITB Berlin Convention programme featuring numerous keynote speeches, masterclasses, expert panels, product presentations, roundtables and other live formats. Users can search the programme with filters according to time, theme track and stage, and can bookmark their personal highlights, which are automatically inserted into their diary. Selected convention content can be streamed via the digital platform.
ITB app: mobile companion for a successful trade show visit
The app provides comprehensive information, ranging from an exhibitor list to hall plans, and enables seamless integration of personal data for efficient networking.
The ITB app can be obtained from the App Store or the Google Play Store ahead of the show and will be available for downloading soon. Four simple steps are all it takes to use the app. After downloading the app, registering and synchronising their data on ITBxplore, users can explore all the functions the app offers. Users who previously installed the ITB app on their smartphone in 2023 can simply download the latest version.
Among the app’s main features are a product list, job openings, a speaker list, a bookmarking and memo function, a QR code generator for networking, a ticket wallet and a selfie camera. Content is available in either English or German.
