The MS PRINCESS is a cruise ship owned and operated by Nicko Cruises. It was built in 1995 and is approximately 230 meters long and 28 meters wide. It has 11 decks, of which 8 are accessible to passengers. It has a capacity of 1,800 passengers and 600 crew members. The MS PRINCESS has a variety of special features that distinguish it from other cruise ships. It has two swimming pools, five Jacuzzis, a casino, a theatre, a spa, a fitness center, a library, and a variety of restaurants and bars. It also has a shopping center, a children's club, and an internet café. Additionally, it has a sun deck with a panoramic view and a variety of outdoor activities.

MS Princesse de Provence ship has a total of 72 cabins for 150 passengers. Standard cabins are all outside, equally-sized (11 m2 / 118 ft2) and equipped with 2 twin (separate) lower beds, cabinets, wardrobe, large mirrors, small table with 2 chairs, en-suite bathroom (shower, WC, wash basin), hairdryer, flat TV (satellite reception), phone (intercom / onboard only), individually controlled air-conditioning. One of the lower beds is folding, which allows during the day to be folded to the wall to create more space.

Suites are on the Upper Deck, and additionally offer double bed (convertible to 2 twins) and larger seating area with mini-bar. Middle and Upper Deck cabin windows are opening (tiltable). Main Deck cabins have 2 small non-opening windows.

Some cabins are Triples (2 lower beds plus 1 upper bunk bed) but sized as standard Doubles.

Shipboard amenities

MS Princesse de Provence ship has a Dining Room Restaurant (Panorama) with large windows, single-seating capacity and open seating arrangement. On embarkation day, a specific table can be reserved for the duration of the cruise. Dining Room menu includes both traditional dishes (itinerary-based on visited countries) and international cuisine specialties. The culinary highlight of each voyage is the Gala Dinner held here, with exquisite menu and ice parade.

The ship also has Reception Desk (24-hour guest services and assistance), Tour Office (excursions information and booking), Library (Lobby corner with small Gift Shop) with souvenirs, books, popular board games, 4-seat table with armchairs. 

The Sun Deck features retractable Awnings (roofed / shaded seating lounge with tables and chairs, full bar service) and aft deckgames area (with Giant Chess Set). The sunbathing area is furnished with sunloungers and deckchairs.

The fore-located on Upper Deck Bar Lounge Panorama has large windows, comfortable seating (2-seat sofas, armchairs, round tables), grand piano (live performances by resident pianist) and is served by its own Bar. Onboard entertainment includes daily live music performances, cooking demonstrations, quiz games, bingo, crew show, themed dance nights, enrichment lectures and media presentations (related to the cruisetour itinerary's destinations, ports, excursions).

The cruise company offers optional shore excursions (not included in cruisetour fares) in each of the visited ports. Land tours include sightseeing tours, city walks, bus travel to nearby tourist destinations. Onboard language is German. On many shore excursions, guests receive an audio system at their disposal so that they can relax and follow the explanations of the tour guide without missing the highlights. In addition to classic shore excursion programs, the cruise company also offers cycling trips.

Herzlich Willkommen an Bord der MS PRINCESS - einem modernen Küstenkreuzfahrtschiff im Yachtstil von nicko cruises, das euch zu den schönsten Städten und Destinationen entlang der Küste Dalmatiens bringt. 

Die MS PRINCESS verfügt über einen geräumigen Panorama Salon, der während der Essenszeiten als Restaurant und außerhalb als Lounge dient. An den Salon schließt sich direkt eine überdachte Hecklounge an. Neben einem Sonnendeck mit Whirlpool, gibt es an Bord ebenfalls eine Marina, von der aus man während Badestopps direkt ins Wasser springen kann.

Restaurant und Salon

Im Restaurant der MS PRINCESS werdet ihr von zauberhaftem Essen verwöhnt. Genießt dabei durch die großen Panorama-Fenster eine tolle Aussicht auf die Küsten Dalmatiens. Neben einem morgendlichen Frühstück, gibt es zum Mittag- und Abendessen mehrgängige Menüs. Das Restaurant wird außerhalb der Essenzeiten auch als genereller Aufenthaltsbereich genutzt, weswegen der Bereich auch über eine kleine Bar verfügt.

Am Heck der MS PRINCESS befindet sich eine Hecklounge im Freien. Diese ist aber, sofern nötig, durch durchsichtige Planen vor dem Wind geschützt, sodass es keinesfalls unangenehm ist hier Platz zu nehmen. Außerdem können hier ganz entspannt die Drinks und Cocktails von der Bar genossen werden.

Neben den sich im Inneren befindenden Bereichen, besitzt die MS PRINCESS natürlich noch ein Sonnendeck, das sich nahezu über die gesamte Schiffslänge erstreckt. Auf den Sonnenliegen oder alternativ im Whirlpool könnt ihr euch einfach nur zurücklehnen und die wunderschöne Landschaft genießen.

Dieser Tage ist die britische Monarchie im Umbruch: Der langjährige Thronfolger Prinz Charles ist nun König von England geworden und auf den Thron gestiegen. Dies kommt mir in den Sinn, als ich in Trogir vor der eleganten Yacht mit dem adeligen Namen „Princess“ stehe.

Die MY Princess (MY=Motor Yacht) ist mein Zuhause für eine achttägige Dalmatien-Intensivkreuzfahrt unter der Flagge von nicko cruises. Zuvor bin ich in Split gelandet und werde mit weiteren Gästen vom Flughafen nach Trogir gefahren – eine Fahrt von lediglich 10 Minuten und schon befinde ich mich in dem pittoresken Altstadt-Hafen mit seinem mediterranen Flair. Nicko´s Anreisepaket zu buchen lohnt sich sehr – zumal ich vor dem Flug auch das inkludierte Rail-Fly-Angebot genutzt habe. Sorgloser und besser organisiert kann man kaum zu seinem persönlichen Traumschiff kommen.

Pre-Boarding

SHIPS@SEA nutzt das Angebot, vor dem allgemeinen Einsteigen an Bord zu gehen und schaut sich einige Kabinen aus den fünf unterschiedlichen Kategorien an. Allen gemein ist der wohnliche Eindruck: Eine pfiffige LED-Beleuchtung setzt sowohl direkte, wie indirekte Lichtakzente in den Kabinen.

Diese sind zwischen 12m 2 und 15m 2 groß und dem Baujahr der Princess entsprechend modern eingerichtet. Wesentlicher Unterschied ist einzig die Lage auf dem Schiff und damit auch der Kabinenzugang: Einige Kabinen erreicht man über die Außenpromenade, während die Kabinen auf dem Hauptdeck und die am Bug befindlichen Oberdeck-Kabinen über das Schiffsinnere zugänglich sind. Neben verschiedenen Steckdosen und USB-Lademöglichkeiten, gibt es auch SAT-TV mit einer breiten Auswahl deutschsprachiger und internationaler Programme. Außerdem kann man sein Mobiltelefon mit den Kabinenlautsprechern koppeln, um eigene Musik komfortabel zu hören. Die Duschbäder sind ansprechend gestaltet und verfügen teilweise sogar über Bullaugen. Einziger Wehrmutstropfen ist eine fehlende Ablagemöglichkeit in der Dusche.

Abgerundet wird das moderne Kabinenangebot durch ein kostenfreies WIFI-Netz an Bord. Dieses offenbart – je nach Schiffsposition – Übertragungsschwächen und ist nicht immer voll nutzbar. Wem getrennte Betten wichtig sind, sollte dies übrigens bereits bei der Buchung klären, da sich nicht alle Kabinen derart arrangieren lassen.

Princess – die feine Yacht mit Charme

Auf vier Decks bietet die Princess alles was das Herz begehrt: Die untersten zwei Decks sind den Kabinen vorbehalten, wobei diese auch teilweise von aussen begehbar sind. Das Promenadendeck trägt seinen Namen zu recht, denn hier umrundet man den kleinen Kreuzfahrt-Liner komplett: Wunderbare Aussichten sind dabei garantiert. Gleiches gilt für das Bordrestaurant, wo beinahe jeder Platz – zumindest gefühlt – ein Fensterplatz ist. Das Restaurant bietet in einer Sitzung Platz für alle Gäste und offeriert vorwiegend kroatische Küche.

Die Bar nebst geschützter Hecklounge ist zu jeder Tageszeit ein gemütlicher Treffpunkt der Gäste. Mein persönlicher Lieblingsplatz befindet sich vorn: An der Bugspitze ist eine wunderbare Sitzfläche angebracht, die für Ausblicke in die schier endlose Adria-Szenerie einlädt. Beinahe genauso attraktiv sind die Sitzplätze direkt vor dem Steuerhaus: Diese gestatten Eindrücke über das Vorschiff und die vorbeiziehenden Landschaften. Das Sonnendeck offeriert eine Bar, Sitzmöglichkeiten, zahlreiche Sonnenliegen und einen Whirlpool. Hier sitzt es sich vortrefflich bei einem 360°-Panorama – cheers!

Was mir auf dieser Reise fehlt, sind Wassersportausrüstungen wie SUP´s oder Kajaks. Diese würden das Angebot für sportlich interessierte Gäste bei den täglich angebotenen Badestopps deutlich bereichern.

Dalmatien calling

Unser erster Stopp erfolgt in Split bei leichten Regenschauern. Doch wenig später ist ein wunderschöner Badestopp bei bestem Sonnenschein vor der Insel Brac möglich. Der Sprung in das gar nicht mal so kühle Nass ist ein Erlebnis, dass sich niemand der Reisenden entgehen lässt. Diese Schwimmstopps werden täglich – so es Wind und Wellen zulassen – angeboten und sind die Highlights jeder Princess-Reise.

Weiter führt uns die Reise nach Pucisca: der Ort hat die Sommersaison hinter sich und liegt verträumt vor mir. Während sich die pittoreske Hafengegend ruhig und beinahe verlassen präsentiert, erklingen direkt vor unserem Anleger beinahe melodische Klopfgeräusche. Diese stammen von der Steinmetzschule die wir per Führung besuchen. Klingt nicht interessant? Weit gefehlt! In ganz Europa gibt es nur drei derartige Schulen und wir dürfen heute den jungen Lehrlingen bei ihrem beeindruckenden Schaffen über die Schulter schauen und vieles über dieses künstlerische Handwerk lernen.

Längsseits über Nacht

Zum Princess-Konzept gehört im Gegensatz zu den meisten Hochseekreuzfahrten, dass nachts nicht gefahren wird. Das garantiert zum einen eine erholsame Nachtruhe und zum anderen wunderbare Aussichten und Impressionen tagsüber. Die Reiseentfernungen sind moderat bis kurz und so haben wir tagsüber einerseits schöne Passagen an Bord und Zeit für Entdeckungen an Land. Abgerundet wird dies durch abendliche Ortsspaziergänge mit stets maritimem Ambiente.

Lokale Küche an Bord UND an Land

Und so schließt sich der Kreis des Reisekonzeptes: An Bord bekommt man fast Vollpension. Aber eben nur fast. An drei Abenden der Reise bleibt die Bordküche abends kalt und jeder Gast ist selbst für sein kulinarisches Glück an Land verantwortlich. So habe ich die Möglichkeit unterschiedliche lokale Küchen und regionale Spezialitäten zu probieren.

Ich werde nicht enttäuscht und finde das nicko-Verpflegungskonzept sehr überzeugend: Morgens gibt es ein Buffet und mittags wird a la Carte serviert. Dabei gibt es jeweils ein festes Menü, welches serviert wird. Wer sehr hungrig ist, bekommt auch gerne einen Nachschlag gereicht.

Kroatische Perlen – zu Gast bei Marco Polo

Ein Highlight folgt dem Nächsten und als sich die Altstadt von Korcula vor mir abzeichnet, kennt meine Begeisterung keine Grenzen. Korcula kann man nur lieb haben. Gekonnt geht Kapitän Marjo als Nummer Eins längsseits und es dauert nur Minuten, bis die Pier um uns herum von über einem Dutzend weiterer Motoryachten belagert wird. Dabei wird interessanterweise im „Paket“ angelegt, wie die Seeleute hier sagen. Wer zu spät kommt, liegt mittendrin und zugeparkt von allen anderen Yachten. Wehe dem, der dann an Land gehen möchte: Man muss über alle anderen Schiffe drüber klettern. Wir gehen ohne Kletterei an Land auf eine historische Entdeckungstour mit viel Flair.

Die Geburtsstadt des großen Entdeckers Marco Polo hat dieses gewisse Etwas und verzaubert seine Besucher. Zweifellos: Einmal Korcula – immer Korcula. Versprochen.

Ein neuer Tag – eine neue Perle: Nach einem malerischen Badestopp auf dem Weg südwärts, kommen wir zur Mittagszeit in Dubrovnik an. Die Stadt ist ein sehenswerter Touristenmagnet, mit entsprechenden Stil-Blüten. Die Preise in Restaurants und Bars in der, von historischen Mauern umgebenen, Altstadt sind vorsichtig ausgedrückt „abenteuerlich“. Ebenso ist es mit dem Eintritt auf die Stadtmauer: Wer diese besteigen und die einzigartige Aussicht genießen möchte, muss über 30€ Eintritt bezahlen.

Unwesentlich günstiger ist die Seilbahnfahrt zum Panorama-Aussichtspunkt mit Blick über die gesamte Bucht von Dubrovnik. Aus unbekannten Gründen fährt diese heute nicht hinauf. Daher wagen Miriam von cruisereiziger.nl und ich die Gipfel-Wanderung zu Fuß. Wir werden fürstlich belohnt: Das Panorama ist jeden Schritt auf dem steinigen Untergrund wert.

Inselzauber Dalmatiens

Bevor meine Reise in Trogir zu Ende geht, machen wir in Jelsa auf Hvar Halt. Die süße, kleine Hafenstadt präsentiert sich historisch und modern zugleich. Nachmittags geht es per Bus in das St. Tropez der Adria: Wir besuchen Hvar-Stadt; nach einem kleinen Regenschauer bleibt die Sonne unser Begleiter und macht es leicht, auch Hvar ins Herz zu schließen.

Auf der Insel Solta und dem äußerst ansprechenden Fischerort Stomorska kommt es zu einem großen Hallo: Es ist der Geburtsort der Familie von Kapitän Marjo und der Winterliegeplatz unserer Princess. Grund genug also, dass auch an diesem Sonntagmorgen die Seefahrerfamilie von etlichen Einheimischen begrüßt wird – jeder kennt hier jeden.

Eigner-Talk: vom Profifußballer und Steuerberater zum Schiffseigner

nicko cruises hat die Princess seit 2022 in den Sommermonaten unter Vertrag. Doch wer steckt eigentlich hinter der kroatischen Motoryacht mit Heimathafen Split? Ich treffe die beiden Eignern an Bord. Marjo ist einer von ihnen und zugleich auch Kapitän der Princess – klar, dass er an Bord ist. Der Zweite im Boot ist Stephan – er ist extra aus Deutschland angereist.

Die beiden kennen sich seit Kindestagen, gingen beruflich aber zunächst unterschiedliche Wege: Seefahrersohn Marjo wurde Profifußballer, spielte bei Hajduk Split und Hannover 96, während Stephan als Steuerberater im Rheinland tätig wurde. Nach seiner Fussballerkarriere ging Marjo zurück aufs Schiff und verfügt über große nautische Expertise. Die gemeinsame Idee ein Schiff bauen zu lassen wuchs in ihnen und wurde schließlich Realität. Sie planten ihr Schiff von Beginn an sorgfältig und bauten es mit hochwertigen Materialien. Nach zweijähriger Bauzeit lief die Princess vom Stapel und musste sogleich ihren ersten Sturm meistern. Das „Corona-Tief“ erschwerte den Betriebsstart ab der Saison 2020, doch nun ist die Yacht erfolgreich vor der kroatischen Küste im Einsatz.

Marjo managed dabei den täglichen Betrieb, während sich Stephan im Hintergrund um organisatorisches kümmert. Er kommt regelmäßig an Bord und packt dann fröhlich lachend mit an: Ich lerne ihn kennen, als er gerade das Passagiergepäck in Trogir an Bord wuchtet – Respekt!

MY Princess – ein Familienbetrieb auf See

Wie mir Marjo und Stephan im Eigner-Talk erklären, ist die Princess-Crew eine Familie. Und das im wahrsten Sinne: Marjo´s Familie hat eine lange Seefahrertradition und so verwundert es nicht, dass seine Frau als Küchenchefin an Bord agiert und Tochter Marieta für Reiseleitung und Gästebetreuung zuständig ist.

Aber auch Marjos Schwester hat genug Arbeit an Bord: Als Hausdame ist Marina für die Sauberkeit in den Kabinen und öffentlichen Bereichen zuständig. Die beiden Matrosen, sowie die beiden angehenden Köche runden den Familienkern ab und sorgen gemeinsam dafür, dass auf der Princess alles so gut funktioniert, wie es funktioniert.

Der Maschinenwecker – behind the scenes

Sehr erfreulich ist das Konzept der offenen Türen an Bord der kroatischen Prinzessin. Die Brücke – hier Wheelhouse genannt – steht den Gästen jederzeit offen. Kapitän und Steuermann erklären den Gästen gerne und ausführlich das Schiff und ihre modern ausgestattete Kommandozentrale. Es bietet sich an, hier mehrfach am Tag vorbeizuschauen und neben der Aussicht über das Vorschiff auch das Gespräch mit der Schiffsführung zu suchen.

Gleich um die Ecke auf dem gleichen Deck befindet sich die Bordküche. Meist steht die Türe offen, sodass ich des Öfteren kurz schnuppere, um zu raten, was es wohl leckeres bei der nächsten Mahlzeit gibt. Das fröhliche Küchen-Trio wirbelt nicht nur an Töpfen und Pfannen herum, sondern ist fast immer für kurze Unterhaltungen zwischen den Essensvorbereitungen zu haben.

Wen der Maschinenraum interessiert, hat Glück: Auch diese Tür am Heck steht häufig offen und gewährt Einblicke in das technische Herz des Schiffes. Wenn es die Arbeitsbelastung der Crew zulässt, bekommt man sogar hier eine kurze Führung. Auf meiner Reise startet Kapitän Marjo pünktlich um kurz vor 07:00 Uhr die beiden Hauptmaschinen zum täglichen Ablegen. Abrupt endet damit die nächtliche Ruhe an Bord, sodass wir Passagiere bald vom „Maschinenwecker“ sprechen.

Wer mag, kann sich natürlich noch im bequemen Bett umdrehen, doch fast alle Gäste zieht es zum Tagesanbruch an Deck. Das Auslaufen aus den malerischen Häfen und Buchten zu beobachten ist schlicht zu verlockend. Übrigens: Der Maschinenraum ist so sauber, dass die Küchen-Crew hier problemlos hygienisch die Speisen zubereiten könnte…

SHIPS@SEA Résumé

Die kroatische Crew bringt die Princess-Gäste zu den schönsten Plätzen ihrer Heimat. Das tägliche Erleben des bekannten und vor allem aber weniger bekannten Kroatiens ist großartig. Die Crew ist mit Rat und Tat für die Gäste da und gibt täglich ihr Bestes. So auch die Küchen-Crew: Das abwechslungsreiche Essen an Bord ist ansprechend und hochwertig. Einziges Manko: Die Portionen erscheinen teilweise knapp bemessen. Wer hungrig ist, muss es aber nicht bleiben und bekommt auf Wunsch einen Nachschlag. Nach dem Essen gibt es ein Informations-Briefing für den kommenden Tag: Gästebetreuerin Marieta erläutert das kommende Programm nebst Ablauf. Da es dazu keine gedruckten Informationen gibt, wäre es wünschenswert diese auch auf dem eigenen Kabinen-TV sehen zu können.

Das Zusammenleben mit Crew und anderen Gästen an Bord ist sehr entspannt und umgänglich – alle reisen offenbar gern und jeder kommt mit jedem ungezwungen ins Gespräch. Ich komme als Urlauber und gehe als Freund der Familie. Diese Kreuzfahrt ist so individuell, persönlich und einzigartig mit all ihren kleinen und größeren Perlen an Land, dass ich gar nicht aussteigen mag. Wer also verlängert und die Norddalmatienroute im Anschluss bucht, kann gleich zwei sagenhafte Princess-Wochen kombinieren. Ich denke jedenfalls schon heute darüber nach, in der neuen Saison zurück an Bord zu kommen.

The 2005-built (as Avalon Poetry) MS Belvedere ship cruises on Danube River. The vessel is the last of 6 almost identical riverboats initially owned by Premicon AG and constructed by Nobiskrug Superyachts in Rendsburg (Germany). Premicon's limited partnership was ~EUR 8 million, while the investment from private investors was around EUR 7 million.

In 2018, Premicon AG sold the vessel to KD Cruise Services Ltd ( Limassol Cyprus -based, fully-owned subsidiary company of KD Line via Koln Duesseldorfer German Rheinschiffahrt GmbH / part of Viking Cruises ). The boat is currently chartered by Select Voyages and renamed for the charter period to "Select Belvedere". Its previous charterer was the UK-based company CMV River Cruises (brand of Cruise & Maritime Voyages UK) .

In 2019, the vessel (ENI number 9948010) was renamed to Select Belvedere. Boat's flag-state was changed from Malta (MMSI 256421000, registered in Valletta ) to Switzerland (MMSI 269057650, registered in Basel ).

MS Belvedere offers generously-sized, airy and light cabins. On the Rhine and Danube decks, two panoramic windows overlook the French balcony and invite passengers to enjoy their moments of calm. On ship's Moselle deck, the extra-large portholes feature wonderful views of the river landscapes.

Shipboard facilities

Belvedere cruise ship has many things to win guests over, such as culinary delights in its onboard restaurant and an expansive sun deck. Wireless internet connection provided on the whole liner means passengers can send holiday greetings to family and friends from anywhere along the river. In the inviting and cozy spa area, they can use a sauna, jacuzzi, and loungers for absolute relaxation. State-of-the-art cardio machines are found in the fitness room to improve stamina.

The ship's reading lounge and library are the best places to retreat and read in peace. MS Belvedere's onboard language is English. The Program Director, Tour Escort, tour guides and key staff all speak English.

The 110-meter-long river ship cruises among others the Rhine, Main and Moselle rivers and offers a variety of ways to spend your time on board with several restaurants as well as wellness and fitness areas. River cruises on the trendsetting nickoSPIRIT take you to popular regions of Germany that captivate with scenic and cultural highlights, including the UNESCO World Heritage Upper Middle Rhine Valley. The nickoSPIRIT accommodates up to 170 passengers, who immediately appreciate the casual ambience of the modern ship. Upon entering the riverboat, the open and light-flooded design of the public areas already impresses.

MS nickoSPIRIT staterooms

Particular attention was paid to the equipment of the 14 sqm outside staterooms. Bright colors and modern design with optimal use of space ensure that the staterooms are in no way inferior to a first-class hotel room. The comfortable double bed can be placed separately on request, and there are lowerable panoramic fronts on the middle and upper deck. On the main deck, the staterooms have windows that cannot be opened.

Atmosphere on board

The atmosphere on board the nickoSPIRIT is cosy, cordial and familiar, just typical nicko cruises. Whether you want to enjoy a quiet moment to read a good book or take part in a social event on board, on this ship everything is taken care of. The glazed bow area of the nickoSPIRIT is something very special. It offers an excellent view in all weathers through the floor-to-ceiling all-round glazing. Here, for example, you can enjoy the clear light in the middle of winter and the view of passing snowy landscapes.

The glass roof provides unique moments, especially at sunset when the restaurant is bathed in warm light. Flexible table times with a free choice of tables fit perfectly into your own daily rhythm. Whether multi-course menus or the large selection of theme buffets - on river cruises with the modern ship, gourmets will be completely satisfied.

Entertainment, sports & relaxation

Another highlight of nickoSPIRIT is the generously designed wellness oasis, where you can forget the demanding everyday life and relax completely. For those who want to combine relaxation with exercise, the fitness area is the right place. On land, bicycle tours complement the sporting programme and also have the advantage of being able to get to know as much of the beautiful landscape around the river as possible. The cruise operator offers optional bookable shore excursions, which are adapted to the respective length of stay in the port. Suitable for your cruise you can book a trip package that combines the highlights of each route into a single package. On board, however, you can also book only certain elements of the excursion packages, as long as there are seats available, and make your cruise even more individual. On many excursions, an audio system is available so that you can follow the explanations of your tour guide quite relaxed, without missing interesting highlights.
