The intimate live show took place at the Fox Theater in Pomona, California, yesterday evening, and came ahead of the huge set that the Britpop icons are set to break out at Coachella later this weekend (Saturday, April 13).

They first announced details of the set on social media back in February , when they shared an image of a flyer, and confirmed that support on the night would be from Mercury Prize-nominated duo Jockstrap .

On the night, Damon Albarn and co. treated the audience to a huge 20-song setlist, and broke out some of their biggest hits including ‘Song 2’ and ‘Parklife’.

Opening the set at the Fox Theater, the ‘90s icons launched into a live rendition of ‘St Charles Square’ – which was released as part of their latest studio offering, ‘The Ballad Of Darren’. Following that, they made a nod to their earlier discography, playing both the 1993 track ‘Popscene’ and 1994 classic ‘Trouble In The Message Centre’.

Bassist Alex James also shared a teaser of the latter online ahead of the gig – posting footage of him playing the song on his balcony just hours before the show.

As well as the aforementioned fan-favourites, ‘Song 2’ and ‘Parklife’, Albarn and co. also broke out many more classics from their discography, including ‘Beetlebum’, ‘Girls And Boys’ and ‘Coffee And TV’.

Other highlights of the set include the live debut of their 2012 song ‘Fool’s Day’, the first live performance of ‘Death Of A Party’ in 10 years, and inviting a crowd member on stage to help perform ‘Parklife’.

Check out fan-captured footage of the show and the complete setlist below.

The Blur Coachella warm-up show setlist was:

‘St Charles Square’ ‘Popscene’ Trouble In The Message Centre’ ‘Beetlebum’ ‘Goodbye Albert’ ‘Trimm Trab’ ‘Out Of Time’ ‘Bird Song’ ‘Death Of A Party’ ‘Coffee And TV’ ‘Parklife’ ‘Girls And Boys’ ‘Advert’ ‘Song 2’ ‘This Is A Low’ ‘Sing’ ‘Fool’s Day’ ‘Tender’ ‘The Narcissist’ ‘The Universal’

The announcement that Blur would be performing at this year’s edition of Coachella came as a surprise to some, as it came shortly after comments from Albarn, where he was pretty adamant that the band would be slowing down for 2024 . “It is time to wrap up this campaign,” he said back in December. “It’s too much for me. It was the right thing to do and an immense honour to play these songs again.”

Last night’s intimate gig marked one of their first US shows in almost a decade, having last played in New York back in 2015. Saturday’s show will also mark their return to Coachella after an 11-year absence.

It is currently their only date on the live calendar for 2024 after a year of heavy gigging in the UK , Europe, South America and beyond. No further US performances have been announced.

Graham Coxon and Damon Albarn perform during a concert with Blur

In other Blur news, it was recently revealed that the Britpop icons are set to release a new documentary and concert film charting their huge 2023 reunion . The projects will document the recording and release of their first album in eight years, ‘The Ballad Of Darren’ , as well as the huge shows that followed – including the two headline shows at Wembley Stadium in London last summer .

More recently, Albarn joined Thundercat on stage and performed a handful of solo tracks and a Gorillaz song during the latter’s sold-out shows at KOKO , London.

As for Coachella, this year’s instalment is set to kick off tomorrow (April 12) and will see Lana Del Rey ,  Tyler, The Creator  and  Doja Cat perform as headliners. Yesterday, Vampire Weekend were added to the bill , and other acts on the line-up include  No Doubt  (p laying their first live show in nine years ), Justice ,  Deftones ,  Grimes ,  Bleachers  and  Khruangbin .

He’s going “Back on the Road.” Drake announced his It’s All a Blur Tour with 21 Savage on Monday (March 13). The North American trek will kick off June 16 in New Orleans, and consists of 29 dates in arenas criss-crossing the country, with stops in New York, Los Angeles, Houston, Miami, Montreal and more, before wrapping on Sept. 5 in Glendale, Ariz.

Black Coffee Claims Drake & Lil Baby Are Working On a Joint Album

This idea is reflected in a video Drake posted to his Instagram account announcing the trek. The visual kicks off with a young, smiling Drake walking, looking hopeful. As it progresses, the video focuses on a billboard that reads “STARTED FROM THE BOTTOM.” From there, the visual shows clips of him performing as a younger man, before cutting to him working his magic in front of ever-growing crowds. There are also scenes of Drake cradling and bottle-feeding infant son Adonis — who was born in 2017 — hopping on a private jet, and more. The video ends with the name of the tour in black text on a yellow background.

Since Drake’s last tour, he’s released several new albums, including Her Loss with tourmate 21 Savage, which dropped in November. The set debuted and peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 , earning him his 12th topper on the all-genre tally. Honestly, Nevermind arrived just months earlier in June 2022 (No. 1 peak), and Certified Lover Boy in September 2021 (No. 1 for five weeks).

Tickets for the It’s All a Blur Tour, which is produced by Live Nation, will go on presale first with the Cash App Card on Wednesday (March 15) and Sprite on Thursday (March 16). General onsale kicks off Friday (March 17) at noon local time on DrakeRelated.com .

It's All A Blur Tour: Drake Concert Dates, Tickets & Info

Drake fans may rejoice because he is going on tour in 2023. These will be the first Drake dates since his 2019 Assassination Vacation Tour, so it’s a big deal since Drake released albums in 2021 and 2022 without subsequent tours to support those albums. Of course, this won’t be a solo tour. Drake is hitting the road this summer with fellow rapper 21 Savage, making this Drake’s fifth co-headlining tour. For fans interested in getting their hands on  Drake tickets and checking out this year’s, It’s All A Blue Tour, here is everything you need to know.

The Joint Album

blur tour california

The co-headlining tour between Drake and 21 Savage comes on the heels of a joint album between the two. The album is titled, Her Loss and was released last November, immediately appearing at the top of the charts in both the U.S. and Canada. Drake and 21 Savage collaborated on 11 of the album’s 16 songs, with 21 Savage getting one solo track. The single “Circo Loco” became an instant hit with fans while also stirring up some controversy because fans believed the song called out Megan Thee Stallion. Not so coincidentally, it wasn’t the only song on the album that mentioned other celebrities in a negative manner, helping to fuel its popularity.

A Little About 21 Savage

For Drake fans who aren’t as familiar with 21 Savage, it’s good to get to know him a little better before their joint tour. Born in London as Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, 21 Savage grew up in Atlanta. He released his first album in 2017 and a follow-up in 2018, while Her Loss is his third collaborative album. His lyrics are heavily autobiographical, often referencing some of his past feuds and legal problems. For instance, 21 Savage was convicted of felony drug charges in 2014 and was also arrested on immigration charges.

Drake’s Tour History

As mentioned, it’s been a few years since Drake has been on tour. His first major tour came in 2009 as a co-headlining tour with Young Money. He’s also had collaborative tours with Lil Wayne, Future, and Migos. But he’s also had six headlining tours as the only prominent artist on the bill. His first was the Away from Home Tour in 2010, while his Assassination Vacation Tour in 2019 was his most recent. Of course, Drake holds his annual October’s Very Own Fest in Toronto every year and plays high-profile shows and benefit concerts, which means Drake never goes too long without performing live.

When Does the Tour Start?

The date for Drake fans to count down to is Friday, June 16. That will be the first date of the tour at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. That show is soon followed by dates in Nashville, Houston, Dallas, and Miami before the end of June. On July 1 and 2, the It’s All A Blur Tour will have two shows in 21 Savage’s hometown of Atlanta at State Farm Arena.

Where Else Is The Tour Going?

The joint tour with Drake and 21 Savage kicks into high gear in July. After the two shows in Atlanta, there will be two shows at the United Center in Chicago. The two will also spend two nights in Boston, two nights at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, and two shows at Madison Square Garden with a stopover in between in Montreal. July ends with a date in Washington DC and a date in Philadelphia.

Following an 11-day break, the West Coast leg of the tour kicks off with two shows at Kia Forum in Inglewood, California on August 12 and 13. There is also a show in San Francisco and back-to-back performances in Los Angeles at Crypto.com Arena. Finally, Drake and 21 Savage will perform in Seattle, Vancouver, and Las Vegas before wrapping up the tour on September 5 in Glendale, Arizona.

What’s on the Setlist?

Until the It’s All A Blur Tour officially kicks off, it’s impossible to say with any certainty what songs will be on the setlist. However, Drake may have given some clues as to his plans when he played at the Apollo Theater in New York in January. That show included 46 songs, which might be more than Drake will perform on his upcoming tour. However, we know that the show began with his hit “Over My Dead Body” and also included songs like “Feel No Ways, “HYFR,” “Started From the Bottom,” “Laugh Now Cry Later,” “One Dance,” “Sticky,” and many others. Toward the end of the show, Drake and 21 Savage collaborated on five straight songs, including “Rich Flex,” “Jimmy Cooks,” and “Knife Talk,” perhaps giving clues to the songs the duo will perform while on tour together.

Tips for Scoring Drake Tour Tickets

blur tour california

If you weren’t able to get tickets to the It’s All A Blur Tour when they first came out, don’t worry. There is still plenty of time to find tickets on the secondary market. In fact, being patient and getting tickets on the secondary market might work out for the best. Prices on the secondary market tend to go down close to the date of the show. The day before a show and even the day of the concert are sometimes the best days to find a great deal on concert tickets. If Drake and 21 Savage are coming to a city near you this summer, don’t be afraid to wait until right before the date of the concert to grab your tickets.

Drake is entering a new chapter in his ongoing It’s All a Blur tour, and he’s bringing J. Cole along with him.

The pair of Grammy winners announced the newest leg of Drake’s tour — titled “Big as the What?” — early Monday on social media. According to the Instagram announcement, Cash App users will get pre-sale access starting Wednesday, while other fans will gain access Friday.

The announcement did not list the upcoming tour dates, but Ticketmaster lists this part of Drake’s tour beginning with two shows at Denver’s Ball Arena on Jan. 18 and 19.

Drake says he’s taking a break from making music due to the ‘craziest’ health issues with his stomach

Drake announced he is taking at least a year-long break from making music to focus on his health. Remaining shows in his It’s All a Blur tour are postponed.

Oct. 6, 2023

Drake and Cole have been collaborators for years. Since 2011, the rappers have teamed for songs including Cole’s “In the Morning,” their “Jodeci Freestyle” and, most recently, Drake’s “First Person Shooter” off his eighth studio album, “For All the Dogs.”

Next year, the duo will perform at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, the FedEx Forum in Memphis and the Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky. The rappers’ final stop will be at the Legacy Arena at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex in North Birmingham, Ala., on March 27, according to Ticketmaster.

Big as what, though? It seems like Los Angeles will never know — at least for now. As of Monday, no Southern California venues were listed in the slate of upcoming shows.

A representatives for show producer Live Nation did not immediately respond Monday to The Times’ request for comment.

Weeks before releasing “For All The Dogs” in October, Drake performed two It’s All a Blur shows at downtown’s Crypto.com Arena on Aug. 21 and 22. He was joined by “Calling for You” collaborator 21 Savage.

Why Drake chose LeBron James and son Bronny to accompany him to the stage in L.A.

Lakers’ LeBron James and son Bronny accompanied rapper Drake to the concert stage at Crypto.com Arena. Drake later told the crowd of the NBA star’s longtime support.

Aug. 22, 2023

During his first L.A. stop, Drake brought out Lakers star LeBron James and his son Bronny as he walked through the crowd to the stage. He recalled on stage how the NBA star was an early supporter of his and said it was an “honor” to be at the Lakers’ home arena with the iconic athlete.

“I gotta do this building justice tonight, so I came to L.A. and I’m about to give you every f— thing I got, I promise you right now,” he added.

Shortly after dropping “For All the Dogs,” Drake announced that he would take time away from music to focus on health issues with his stomach. Speaking on his SiriusXM show “Table for One” on Oct. 6, the rapper said he “probably won’t make music for a little bit.”

“I’ve been having the craziest problems for years with my stomach,” he said. “I’m just saying what it is. So I need to focus on my health, and I need to get right, and I’m going to do that. I have a lot of other things that I would love to focus on.”

Drake is back.

The four-time-Grammy winner — who has a dozen or so chart-topping albums/compilations/mixtapes to his credit — performs two big shows, Aug. 18-19, at Chase Center in San Francisco.

He’s out on the road with 21 Savage on the It’s All a Blur Tour. The trek supports the two hip-hop stars’ collaborative studio effort, “Her Loss,” which debuted at No. 1 on the charts in late 2022.

“It’s All a Blur” is Drake’s first tour since he headlined the Aubrey & the Three Migos Tour — with hip-hop trio Migos — in 2018.

The current trek kicked off with two shows at the United Center in Chicago in July. A set list from that first night, listed on the tour’s Wikipedia page, shows that Drake played a lengthy 36-song solo set while 21 Savage performed a dozen songs on his own. The two rappers also played at least five songs together during that tour opener.

Hopefully Drake will take the time in San Francisco to showcase material from his eighth solo studio album, “For All the Dogs.”

Showtime for the Chase shows is 8 p.m. Find more information at ticketmaster.com .

Drake Opens Hits-Filled ‘It’s All a Blur’ Tour Playing ‘Look What You’ve Done’ for the First Time in a Decade

Drake and 21 Savage delivered a jam-packed setlist for the opening night of the “ It’s All A Blur ” tour that launched at Chicago’s United Center on July 5. The show marked Drake’s first concert stretch across North America since the “Aubrey & the Three Migos” tour hit over 40 arenas in 2018.

From there, he dove into a hits-filled set that included “Marvins Room,” “Headlines,” and “The Motto,” tallying up to a total of over 40 songs, according to setlist.fm .

21 Savage joined the festivities later in the show, making his entrance with “Red Opps,” and teamed with Drake for “Spin Bout U,” “Jimmy Cooks,” and “Rich Flex” from their “Her Loss” collab album. The rapper performed a total of 12 songs on his own while Drake’s solo set doubled that.

During the last few songs, someone in the audience threw their cell phone at Drake, hitting him in the arm in the process. In the past few weeks, several pop singers — namely Bebe Rexha, who was left with a black eye after someone hit launched a phone at her — have experienced similar unruly behavior from fans at shows. Drake didn’t react to or address the mishap on stage and closed with a vampish rendition of “Legend” from “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late.”

Sid Sriram

EXCLUSIVE: Thirteen years ago, a young Sidharth Sriram promised himself that the first time he would attend Coachella would be the first time he performed.

His performance came just a year after Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh became the first Indian to take the Coachella stage. Showcasing the diversity of the musical offering from the world’s most populous country, Sriram is this year bringing Carnatic-inspired music to the festival, tunes that have emerged from the classical music tradition of South India but blend modern influences like R&B, jazz and indie rock.

“I try not to think about [being the first] because it can get in your head and your ego can get inflated,” says Sriram. “In that moment when I’m on stage, people don’t really care about the fact that I’m the first South Indian to play or whatever, they’re just there to experience the music.”

Sriram counters that he doesn’t “wear that responsibility lightly,” adding: “Carnatic music is very deep in the roots of being South Indian, and I am honored to be able to showcase my perspective and version of what being South Indian means.”

Sriram has had a hectic couple of months. Along with his Coachella bow, he has spent the past few weeks playing packed shows in San Francisco and Seattle as part of his Sidharth world tour, and was getting ready to fly back to California for the second Coachella weekend the day after his Deadline interview.

“I had my eyes closed for most of the [first] Coachella set,” he reminisces. “But looking out at the audience and seeing a truly diverse group of people packing that space out, that was exhilarating.”

Working with A.R. Rahman

Sriram’s first big break came in 2013, when Oscar, Grammy, and Golden Globe-winning musician A.R. Rahman asked him to sing in Tamil film  Kadal . Although the film was critically panned, the movie catapulted Sriram into the limelight. Since then, he has mostly sung on productions from the booming Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam film industries.

“Singing for film really taught me to emote vocally and not just rely on this ‘inspiration’ thing, which I think is somewhat of an overrated concept,” says Sriram. “I think there’s a rigor that comes to artistry and the beautiful thing is when that rigor allows you to output a vocal performance that still feels deeply emotional and personal.”

Although he has prioritized his own music for the past year and a half, Sriram has no plans to retire from singing for film just yet. “My mentor is still A.R. [Rahman] Sir, and there’s so much that I still have to learn from and give to that industry,” he says. “It was never in my plans to be a playback singer but I’m grateful now that that happened first, and that my relationship to celebrity formed within that industry.”

He hints at more playback projects in the works and says he would “love to work on Hollywood soundtracks” or “maybe scoring films.” “I have a gut feeling that something will come together this year.”

‘Sidharth’

blur tour california

After contributing hundreds of songs to movies, it took 10 years for Sriram to release his first all-English album under Universal Music Group’s label Def Jam with producer Ryan Olson. Titled  Sidharth , the album is his most personal work yet, and seamlessly blends R&B, jazz and indie with Carnatic influences.

Until Sidharth , Sriram had avoided blending his Carnatic and Western musical influences. But the North American leg of his tour and his Coachella booking have seen him embrace what his father calls “hybridism.” “We just thought, ‘Let’s not fragment myself anymore, let’s explore the entirety of it.’ And it was really scary,” he adds.

Sriram’s current setlist – including at Coachella – is therefore an intentionally curated mix of his film discography, songs from the album and other Carnatic interpretations. “This tour has been the first time I’ve felt a flow between all the different aspects of who I am, and it’s been so much fun.”

Packed audiences have comprised both people of Indian origin and otherwise, he says, which Sriram takes as a hopeful sign for Indian music as a whole.

“Do audiences want it? Hell yeah,” he adds.

“Carnatic music has, for whatever reason, been relegated to this niche thing, but I guess I’m living proof against that,” he continues. “My biggest takeaway from weekend one [of Coachella] was that regardless of background, people react the exact same way to the same moments. I truly believe that music is a universal sonic form, and it transcends while still paying respect to cultural spaces.”

Also playing Coachella this year is Punjabi-Canadian singer A.P. Dhillon, whose experience has been somewhat different to Sriram’s after he faced a backlash for smashing his guitar on stage on weekend one and has not returned this weekend (Coachella put this down to a scheduling conflict).

Dhillon, who was the subject of a recent Amazon doc, has a contrasting musical style to Sriram’s despite both being from Indian backgrounds.

He adds: “Once this door is knocked down – and I feel like we’re very close to knocking it down – for Indian-based music to break out globally, there’s going to be such an incredible market for it.”

“We’re only at the beginning,” he finishes. “I’m just honored to be on this side in the history of music.”
