The England football team has qualified for FIFA World Cup 2022, which is taking place in Qatar later this year from November 21 to December 18.

Of the 32 teams who will be competing at the FIFA World Cup , England has successfully qualified and will be facing Iran on the opening day of the tournament.

With the relaxation of COVID regulations, it means that England fans can comfortably travel abroad to see their football team play.

One way to make this an easier and cheaper option is by joining The England Supporters Travel Club has now opened applications.

Here is everything you need to know about the England Supporters Travel Club:

What is the England Travel Club?

The England Supporters Travel Club is a paid membership scheme that grants members access to home and away England football match tickets .

This also includes tournaments, if England wins.

On top of this, members will also get £5 off their ticket for England home games when they buy within the priority sale window, exclusive access to £20 tickets in the ‘Home End’ during the first sales window, for every home game in this particular membership cycle and more exclusive features.

The England Supporters Travel Club happens from tournament to tournament.

It will expire after the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ final. 

How much does it cost to join the England Travel Club?

The fee to join the England Supporters Travel Club is £75 for adults (£55 for renewal) and £30 for juniors (£15 for renewal).

Road to UEFA EURO 2024 Germany

England have now sealed their place at UEFA EURO 2024 in Germany next summer! At present, UEFA have not set a date for any ticket application windows for our official allocation of tickets. As soon as we have any information on this we will update members accordingly. Members of the England Supporters Travel Club will be able to complete a 'pre-registration' form from 12 midday on Thursday 19 October until 2pm on Wednesday 1 November 2023.  More information on the application process can be found here. If you are interested in attending this tournament in the official ‘England End’ you will need to be a member of the England Supporters Travel Club in order to apply.  You can start building your caps now by attending England friendlies and qualifiers to improve your chance of being allocated a ticket. How do I apply for tickets to UEFA EURO 2024 Germany?

You will need to be a member of the England Supporters Travel Club . Members will only be able to apply for one ticket each. Members can now pre-register for tickets.  For more information, please read our latest update here.

How likely am I to get a ticket?

We conduct a ballot for any oversubscribed matches. The ballot is split into three ‘pots’. 70% of our allocation will be awarded to the most capped member from those who applied.

20% of our allocation will then be balloted to all remaining members who have been to at least 4 home matches and 2 away matches within the last 2 membership cycles. 10% of our allocation will then be balloted to all remaining members who have attended at least 1 match within the current membership cycle.

Qatar 2022: England’s most loyal fans forced to abandon World Cup over ‘complete shambles’ tickets system

One member of the england supporters’ travel club claims to have been quoted almost £20,000 for eight nights on a cruise ship.

Some of England’s most loyal fans have been forced to abandon plans to attend the World Cup, describing the accommodation booking system in Qatar as a “complete shambles”.

Members of the England Supporters’ Travel Club, who pay £75 to join for access to special benefits, are able to secure World Cup tickets via an allocation from the English Football Association. It is seen as a way to reward the team’s most loyal supporters who most frequently travel to games.

The deadline for ESTC members to apply for World Cup tickets was on Thursday, but fans have been disgruntled to discover that they could only book World Cup accommodation via Fifa’s fan portal when in possession of a ticket.

Accommodation on the portal, which is supposed to be more affordable than the exorbitant figures being quoted by external booking agencies, was made available in March to those supporters who had purchased general sale tickets.

Many England supporters have complained that the system disadvantages ESTC members – and their counterparts in other countries – who will not receive their tickets until May and fear they will miss out on cheaper accommodation.

With the cost of living increasing at the highest rate in decades – due to Russia’s war in Ukraine, the pandemic and Brexit – some fans do not want to apply for or purchase World Cup tickets until they know affordable accommodation is available and have been left in limbo. ESTC members have said they have decided not to go to the tournament due to the issue that one has described as a “complete shambles”.

Qatar organisers have essentially had to build a World Cup from scratch in the past 12 years, constructing new hotels, roads, an airport and a metro system. Accommodation will be available to World Cup attendees in hotels – which can cost several hundred pounds per night – and in apartments in central Doha, while temporary tournament accommodation is available on board cruise ships and in the Fan Village tents for those comfortable camping in the desert.

Supporters keen to book accommodation before applying for tickets have attempted to find alternative accommodation on the internet but have been quoted thousands of pounds for basic accommodation to cover the group- stage period. One supporter claims to have been quoted almost £20,000 for eight nights on a cruise ship.

Fans have been complaining for several weeks now and the FA wrote to ESTC members in March to reassure them that more accommodation will be made available via the Fifa fan portal at a later date, but supporters remain unconvinced.

A spokesperson from Qatar’s Supreme Committee, organiser of the World Cup, told i : “The Supreme Committee Accommodation Agency Programme (which includes hotels, holiday homes, serviced apartments and villas, cruise ship hotels and fan villages) will deliver up to 130,000 rooms, or a total of 3.64 million room nights, which is a comfortable inventory for fans, teams and sponsors travelling to the Fifa World Cup Qatar 2022.

“Room rates (based on two-person occupancy) start at the low rate of around £65.

“At this stage, we are inviting ticket holders to book their accommodation, including PMA ticket holders. We appreciate that some allocations have not yet been confirmed, but the Host Country Accommodation Portal will offer various options throughout the year, is being continuously updated, and stock will be held back for fans who have not yet obtained their tickets.

“Fans are encouraged to check the website regularly if the accommodation type they are looking for is not currently available. Fans can also book accommodation through traditional means, such as hotel and holiday accommodation websites.

“We anticipate a number of visiting fans will stay with friends or family during the tournament. We are also anticipating day-trippers who will make the most of Qatar’s strategic location and fly or drive in and out on the same day from neighbouring countries.”

England manager Gareth Southgate has been hugely supportive of the ESTC fans. “Travel club members are an important part of the journey of this England team and we value that loyalty at all times,” he said. “From the World Cup in Russia in 2018 to the Uefa Nations League in Portugal in 2019, we’ve seen first-hand how that unwavering support has gone hand in hand with the progress of this young group of players and we look forward to sharing more memories in the coming years.”

Fans, meanwhile, have already been able to apply for tickets to watch England play in the World Cup final. Tickets can be bought in three price categories, the cheapest is £535, next available is £887 and the most expensive costs £1,422.

55.4 Million Americans Expected to Travel for Thanksgiving

This year’s holiday forecast is a 2.3% increase over last year, third highest since 2000.

WASHINGTON, DC (November 13, 2023) – AAA projects 55.4 million travelers will head 50 miles or more from home over the Thanksgiving holiday travel period*. This year’s Thanksgiving forecast is an increase of 2.3% over last year and marks the third-highest Thanksgiving forecast since AAA began tracking holiday travel in 2000. The top two years were 2005 and 2019, respectively.

“For many Americans, Thanksgiving and travel go hand in hand, and this holiday, we expect more people on the roads, skies, and seas compared to 2022,” said Paula Twidale, Senior Vice President of AAA Travel. “Travel demand has been strong all year, and AAA’s Thanksgiving forecast reflects that continued desire to get away and spend time with loved ones.”

AAA expects 4.7 million people will fly over Thanksgiving, an increase of 6.6% compared to 2022 and the highest number of Thanksgiving air travelers since 2005. Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving are the busiest air travel days ahead of the holiday and the most expensive. While Sunday is typically the busiest day to return home, AAA data shows Monday is also a popular day to fly back after Thanksgiving.

The number of people traveling by cruise, bus, and train over Thanksgiving is up nearly 11% over last year. AAA expects 1.55 million travelers will head out of town using these other modes of transportation, which took a huge hit during the pandemic but have rebounded nicely. “The cruise industry, in particular, has made a remarkable comeback,” Twidale added. “Thanksgiving cruises are mostly sold out, with many travelers looking to spend the holiday at sea.”

Best/Worst Times to Drive and Peak Congestion by Metro  

INRIX, a provider of transportation data and insights, expects Wednesday, November 22, to be the busiest day on the roads during the Thanksgiving holiday travel period, with average travel times as high as 80% over normal in some metro areas. INRIX recommends leaving in the morning or after 6 p.m. to avoid the heaviest holiday congestion.

“The day before Thanksgiving is notoriously one of the most congested days on our roadways. Travelers should be prepared for long delays, especially in and around major metros,” said Bob Pishue, transportation analyst at INRIX. “Knowing when and where congestion will build can help minimize holiday traffic frustrations. We advise drivers to use traffic apps, local DOT notifications, and 511 services for real-time updates.”

Please note – the times listed below are for the time zone the metro is located in. For example, Atlanta routes = ET and Los Angeles routes = PT.

Holiday Booking Prices

This holiday season, travelers are generally paying less for domestic trips compared to last year and more for international vacations. The one exception is airfare, which is slightly more expensive for domestic flights this season and a bit lower for international flights. Here’s a breakdown of average booking prices for November and December, according to AAA data.

• The average price for a domestic flight is $681, up 5% from 2022.
• The average price for an international flight is $1,231, down 5.7% from last year.
• The average price for a domestic hotel stay is $598, down 12% from 2022.
• The average price for an international hotel stay is $772, up 5% from last year.

RENTAL CARS

• The average price for a domestic rental car reservation is $590, down 20% from 2022.
• The average price for an international rental car reservation is $696, up 9% from last year.
• The average price for a domestic cruise is $1,507, down 12% compared to 2022.
• The average price for an international cruise is $2,902, up 24% from last year.
• The average price for a domestic tour is $1,058, down 15% compared to 2022.
• The average price for an international tour is $1,208, up 21% from last year.

Historical travel volume estimates come from DK SHIFFLET’s TRAVEL PERFORMANCE/Monitor SM . The PERFORMANCE/Monitor SM is a comprehensive study measuring the travel behavior of U.S. residents.
