How 2 Taylor Swift Fans Turned Tailgate Parties Into A Full-Blown Business

Guest Writer

Taylor Swift fans wait to pose for a photo at Tay-gate, a tailgate party a short walk from the singer's shows in Atlanta.

Early on in the pandemic, Courtney Gibson and Caitie Phillips dreamed of going to a local bar with some girlfriends, throwing back a few White Claws and belting out a bunch of Taylor Swift tunes at the top of their lungs.

That might have been a regular Saturday night for these two millennials before COVID. Instead, they’d been shuttered indoors for months on end, desperately craving a sense of community like so many others.

“What if one day we hosted a Taylor Swift-inspired dance party for more than just our circle of friends?” they wondered.

Taylor Swift fans — who affectionately call themselves “Swifties” — are known throughout the world for their unwavering loyalty and steadfast dedication to the iconic singer-songwriter. Swifties have formed one of the largest fan bases on social media, attended album listening parties, camped out for concerts and most recently shelled out thousands of dollars for Eras tour tickets . Time and again, Swifties have made it abundantly clear they are willing to shake it off and show up in the name of Tay.

Courtney Gibson (left) and Caitie Phillips started holding Swift-themed dance parties in 2021.

So when bars and nightclubs reopened in April 2021, Gibson and Phillips decided to make their dance party dreams come true. Gibson, 33, who was producing event-in-a-box-type affairs for her business La Petite Fete , and Phillips, a 31-year-old tech marketing coordinator, hit the strip in their hometown of Orlando in search of a venue.

Neon Beach Tiki & Kitchen, the first establishment they approached, agreed to partner with them on a ticketed event that June. Suddenly, their pop culture fantasy was about to become a reality.

“It’s really important for women and members of the LGBTQ community to have a safe space where they can not only celebrate but also feel celebrated, especially now in such a difficult political climate,” said Phillips, who also designs the bulk of their Swift-inspired merch. “As women, we’ve had to fight for our place at the table in a male-dominated field like the music and entertainment industry, which has allowed us to not only grow in our careers but also help mentor other young people who may be considering getting into this business too.”

The first event sold out: They hosted 300 Swifties and even had a waitlist for guests. As diehard Swifties themselves, the pair knew the key to planning successful pop culture dance parties was to really lean into them from a fan perspective — and that they did.

The party offered everything from DJs rocking a tailored Taylor playlist and big screens featuring music videos to a curated cocktail menu and giveaways with custom-themed slim can Koozies. There were Insta-worthy photo ops, all inspired by the legend herself.

Swift fans, including SK Maxwell, Emily Pruitt, Lucy Whitney and Marie Smith sing "All Too Well (10 Minute Version)" at an Atlanta Tay-gates event.

But what the women didn’t know at the time was that within 18 months of their first party, they would have hosted over 60,000 Swifties in more than 40 U.S. cities and would be dancing all the way to the bank to the tune of seven figures.

Last fall, around the same time their business hit the million-dollar mark in revenue, Swift released her “Midnights” album. The pair assumed a concert tour announcement was imminent, prompting them to consider ways to align their business with upcoming shows.

“Our first thought was how great would it be to text your group chat, plan your Eras Tour outfits, grab tickets to the ultimate Swiftie pre-party, and come together in the hours leading up to the concert,” Gibson said.

Phillips, who also serves as the chief marketing officer for Le Petite Fete, said they started by focusing on what would be most important to them as Swifties. The answer? Good cocktails and an event in close proximity to Swift’s concert.

Swifties trade friendship bracelets at the event.

And that is how Tay-gates, a play on traditional tailgate parties, was born. At Tay-gates, Swifties can trade friendship bracelets and create social media content with candy-colored neon signs inspired by song lyrics — all before heading over to see Swift in concert. There’s also an Eras-themed costume contest and lip sync battle for a chance to win prizes and bragging rights.

Tay-gates are hosted in much larger venues than their dance party counterparts and according to Gibson, take on more of a trade-show vibe, with attendees coming in waves. She said they are also somewhat calmer in nature since most fans are conserving their energy for the concert itself.

Tay-gaters, who are primarily women, fall into three camps: the early birds who arrive in the afternoon in an effort to avoid the intense concert traffic, those who use the event as an official meet-up destination to catch up with other concertgoers, and those who roll up at the last minute and grab a cocktail or quick bite before heading over to the stadium.

A Swift sticker pokes out of a fan's top at the Tay-gates event.

Gibson and Phillips had already built a devoted dance party fanbase in Texas, one of the first stops in the Eras tour, and it made for a great starting-off point for their events.

The pair partnered with Texas Live, a venue in Arlington about a 20-minute walk from AT&T Stadium. Over the course of three nights, they hosted more than 10,000 Swifties, with tickets ranging from $5 to $15 a pop.

“It just kind of exploded from there,” Phillips said. Soon after, venues were reaching out to them.

Their business now employs five DJs, six event assistants and multiple brand activation ambassadors in each city where they host an event. Since their Texas events, they have seen another 8,500 guests between shows in Tampa, Atlanta and Nashville, with Philadelphia, Chicago and New Jersey still on the horizon.

Tay-gate tickets range from $5 to $70 a piece depending on the city, venue and offerings; the pre-parties have grossed nearly $150k and counting in ticket sales alone.

Nicole Schwensen, 26, from Peachtree City, Georgia, attended the Atlanta festivities at Wild Leap. She said one of the best things about Tay-gates is that you don’t need to have tickets to the actual concert to attend the pre-party.

“My best friend and I were looking for a way to be around other Taylor fans and dress up and have fun without having to spend $1,000 a ticket and this was by far our best option,” Schwensen said.

Schwensen and her friend Abby enjoyed a full day of Taylor-themed slushies and food trucks and an “All Too Well” sing-a-long while regularly refreshing their phones in a last-ditch effort to find affordable tickets for the show that night. They didn’t have any luck.

Left: Swift fans wait in line at food trucks. Right: Slushies with Swift-themed names at Tay-gate.

But the rock ’n roll gods must have been looking down on them ― they managed to find a grassy area in the Mercedes Stadium parking lot where they set up a blanket and were able to see Swift perform on a big screen angled in their direction.

Michael Slagel, 25, an activities director for a retirement community in Tampa, was a bit luckier on the concert-ticket front. He won a pair of tickets to the first night’s show on the radio and managed to score tickets in the nosebleed section the other two nights with his sister and their friend.

A regular at their dance parties, Slagel attended the Tampa Tay-gate and even competed in the costume contest. He wore a Red tour-inspired Eras outfit and called the event “a super fun way to hang with fellow fans and celebrate Taylor being in town.”

For both co-founders, what once was just a dream to get out of the house and onto the dance floor has become both an exercise in community building and empowerment.

When it comes to fandoms, Gibson said there’s often a double standard at play; it’s accepted for men to spend ridiculous amounts of money on football and other sports, but it can be seen negatively when women drop a lot on Taylor Swift concert tickets and get together and party.

“The biggest difference is in a football game, there’s always a losing team but with a concert, especially a Taylor Swift one, everybody wins,” Gibson said.

Eleven people on their 13-member team are women. They are also intentional about partnering with women vendors and small-business owners in different cities.

Fans compete in a costume contest at the Atlanta Tay-gate.

Gibson said the fact that so many people come to their events alone and leave having made friends speaks volumes.

“People were hungry for a common thread,” Gibson said. “And it means the world to us to be able to create a welcoming environment where fans can come together and just be comfortable being themselves.”

13 Best Moments From Taylor Swift’s April 29 Atlanta ‘Eras’ Concert: ‘High Infidelity’ & Making a Stadium Show Feel Intimate

Swift lived in the moment, singing along to folk songs with more than 65,000 people, improvising through a glitch with "the dad joke from hell" and serving the most clever pairing of surprise songs.

Taylor Swift Atlanta Eras Tour

There’s no bad seat on Taylor Swift ‘s Eras Tour — especially if you’re fortunate enough to see her in a venue like Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium, with its gorgeous halo screens in the round and wild three-night crowd that Swift truly seem to be enchanted to meet during this 52-date affair spanning her musical career.

The prolific singer-songwriter and powerhouse performer showed both sides of herself as an entertainer Saturday night (April 29), the second of a trio of concerts at the stadium. 65,639 people descended upon Atlanta — where signs on buildings read “A-Tay-L,” a play on ATL — for Swift’s April 29 show.

“Do you really wanna know where I was April 29th?” is no longer just a rhetorical question from Swift’s lyric book. On this date in Swift history, she’s now delivered the live debut of “High Infidelity,” the Midnights (3AM Edition) bonus track on which that lyric exists. April 29 is now a core memory for a whole lot of fans.

All the Surprise Songs Taylor Swift Has Performed on The Eras Tour (So Far)

The tour celebrates 10 album eras of Swift with a 44-song setlist. She powers through for more than three hours, pausing only for a quick set or wardrobe change, or — as was the case at this stop in Atlanta — to banter with the crowd before select songs.

Her debut album doesn’t typically find itself on her setlist, and it didn’t on April 29. But Swift’s country roots, circa her high school days, are showcased in her Fearless set, when she twirls with her guitar in hand and plays some of her biggest early hits.

While she performs songs from every other album in her discography, the four she had yet to ever tour with — 2019’s Lover , 2020’s Folklore and Evermore , and 2022’s Midnights — get a lot of attention. “Cruel Summer,” “‘Tis the Damn Season,” “Betty” and “Lavender Haze” are all ones not to be missed in her singalong stadium setting. And without giving too much away, “Vigilante Shit” might elicit the loudest roar.

Here are 13 of the best things to happen at Swift’s Saturday night show in Atlanta.

A Heavenly 'Marjorie' Experience

Swift’s “Marjorie,” an ode full of love for her late grandmother and the memories she holds of her, is emotional enough in its recorded state. Live, with a chorus of tens of thousands of voices singing with Swift (plus her grandmother’s actual vocals in the background), and their phone lights glimmering, the song becomes emotionally overwhelming. “My knees went weak,” Swift said.

“I physically felt that. It was so beautiful of you to do that … Wow. Oh my god,” said Swift, sitting at her Evermore -era piano, getting ready to introduce “Champagne Problems” after showing a teary-eyed reaction to the unexpected magic of “Marjorie” in a stadium.

But “Champagne Problems” would have to wait, due a tech issue, leaving a minute to marvel at what just happened with “Marjorie”: “What a perfect moment for my in-ears to just come unplugged magically,” she quipped.

Later, after talking her way through the in-ear problem with a joke, Swift insisted that the moment of levity was “not to take away from the really beautiful, heavenly thing you guys just did.”

Glitches and Forgetting Lyrics For the Win

Taylor Swift Atlanta Eras Tour

If Swift was at all stressing over the aforementioned, short-lived in-ear glitch, she didn’t show it. She corralled the Atlanta crowd’s attention Saturday night with a joke — more on that next — to fill in the sudden blank space in her otherwise impeccably-rehearsed set. The joke, whether you’ll find it funny or not, reminded fans of the superstar’s normal, very relatable disposition.

A moment like this, and a couple moments to come later on in the show where she’d charmingly flub a couple of her own lyrics during the night’s surprise songs section, brought a very big concert down to a more intimate level. Somehow, the small mistakes and Swift’s off-the-cuff reactions made the show even better, and a one-of-a-kind thing for those in attendance.

Taylor's 'Dad Joke From Hell'

“Oh, so it’s not just me, actually, this time. It’s not just me flailing too hard and unplugging my cord … It’s actually more of an infrastructure in-ears problem that we’re all having. So, while that is bad news, it’s nice to be joined in my pain, don’t you think?” Swift said to the April 29 audience.

Just when she thought the issue had been resolved, and she thanked and cheered on her sound crew, the glitch apparently happened again. She found herself with some more time to kill onstage and just went with it. “Should I tell jokes?” she asked.

And so it went: “OK, so, a cat walks into a library. And the cat says, ‘Yes, I’ll have some tuna fish, please.’ And the lady at the counter says, ‘Sir, this is a library.’ And the cat says, ‘Oh, I’m sorry. [ Whispers ] I’ll have some tuna fish, please.”

“I’m so sorry,” Swift said with a grin. “My in-ears are back, just at the perfect time because that was like the dad joke from hell. I’m so sorry.” That’s probably one she won’t repeat this tour.

The Best Era Transitions

When you’re a weekend music news editor, avoiding spoilers about a massive tour with mostly weekend dates just isn’t a thing. Having seen plenty of clips from The Eras Tour prior to finally catching the show in person this weekend, there’s been time to think about the best transitions between the many eras in Swift’s set. Some are really, really good.

Now having witnessed it in real life at Swift’s Atlanta stop — where the coolest set transition became very clear — for fun, here’s a ranked list of Eras Tour transitions to watch out for at a concert in your future, leading with the favorite at No. 1:

  • Evermore to Reputation (“Tolerate It” to “…Ready for It?”)
  • Folklore to 1989 (“Cardigan” to “Style”)
  • 1989 to surprise song (“Bad Blood” to the mystery song everyone’s eagerly awaiting)
  • Surprise song to Midnights (The undisclosed song to “Lavender Haze”)
  • Fearless to Evermore (“Love Story” to “‘Tis the Damn Season”)
  • Reputation to Speak Now (“Look What You Made Me Do” to “Enchanted”)
  • Red to Folklore (“All Too Well” to “The 1”)
  • Lover to Fearless (“The Archer” to “Fearless”)
  • Speak Now to Red (“Enchanted” to “22”)

More Than Just a Tour, It's a 'Whole Personality'

“This tour has become my entire personality,” Swift announced, in a genuine way, to her fans in Atlanta. Something tells us diehard Swifties can relate.

But Swift’s commitment to putting on an incredible show was very apparent this weekend. Concertgoers were overheard talking about being exhilarated but exhausted as they left the stadium, while Swift is actually the one performing 44 songs almost every weekend, for multiple days in a row.

She shows no signs of being anywhere but totally in Eras Tour-land when onstage. Just like there’s no bad seat in the house, there’s no chance she won’t be giving her all at every date to come. On Sunday night, she’d admit that she stays up for hours after every concert, thinking about the next one.

The Revival of 'Reputation'

Taylor Swift Eras Tour Atlanta

With Lover , Folklore , Evermore and Midnights all being brand-new to Swift’s touring production, there’s so much music to look forward to watching live for the first time. But Reputation lovers, rejoice: It’s one of the best parts of the show. When that snake slithers onto the stage screen, after the stirring Evermore era, the mood shifts drastically. The energy can’t be topped and fans go feral (in a good way) — maybe expressing a pent-up spark for live music that they’ve been missing since Swift’s last tour, which was in support of Reputation . Avoid timing a bathroom break during this era. In Atlanta, “…Ready for It?” and the rest of the Reputation set was powerful.

65,639 Voices Singing 'All Too Well' for 10 Minutes

Total attendance to the April 29 concert at Mercedes-Benz Stadium was 65,639. That’s potentially 65,639 people screaming along with Swift for 10 minutes to every word of “All Too Well,” and personally relating to it in some way. And in a way, the song that seemed to be one of her most personal breathes a new life when a stadium swells through the hurt in lines like “And I was thinking on the drive down, any time now/ He’s gonna say it’s love, you never called it what it was” and “And there we are again when nobody had to know/ You kept me like a secret, but I kept you like an oath” and “You said if we had been closer in age maybe it would have been fine/ And that made me want to die” from the Red (Taylor’s Version) release.

'August' Forever

Taylor Swift Atlanta Eras Tour

Although Billboard already highlighted “August” from the opener of the Eras Tour , the staging of a forever Folklore favorite — all wistful and romantic — continues to be flawless. It’s a beautiful time in the show, and a foundation of the Folklore set. Those lucky enough to have seats up front by the diamond area of the stage are in for a particularly special moment as Swift dashes across at the bridge of the song, but the view of “August” is lovely from all sections.

Knowing Exactly Where Taylor Swift Was on April 29

There’s that lyric in Swift’s “High Infidelity” that asks, “Do you really wanna know where I was April 29th?” Naturally, those attending the April 29 show in Atlanta had certain expectations that they might witness the track’s live debut during the part of the Eras set featuring two surprise acoustic songs. “High Infidelity” even trended on Twitter on Saturday morning, many hours before the concert began.

Swift acknowledged the date as she set herself up with a guitar at the end of the stage’s catwalk: In a special bit where she found herself rambling pre-song, she eventually teased, “I was thinking about what song to do tonight, and I was like, wait. I know it’s a Saturday, but what’s the date?”

Then she strummed her guitar and improvised, “Do you really wanna know where I was April 29th? Atlanta, Georgia,” before launching into the full song, with the crowd hanging on to to every word.

'Gorgeous' As a Sweet Piano Ballad

From “High Infidelity,” a song that some interpret as a reference to cheating, Swift went into “Gorgeous” on piano. On “Gorgeous,” she sings about meeting someone she’s attracted to while having “a boyfriend, he’s older than us/ He’s in the club doing I don’t know what.” Fans loved the seemingly clever thematic connection. “This is a song about the universal fact that you will act stupid around someone you think is hot,” she told the crowd of “Gorgeous.”

It was Swift’s first time performing a song from Reputation during her surprise songs set.

She joked that she thinks of Reputation as her “most metal album,” and thus more difficult to arrange its tracks as acoustic performances. But then she candidly noted to the audience, “That’s sort of weird for me to say because most of the songs on that album I started out writing just acoustic, so I should play one.”

This part of the set felt especially intimate in a full stadium, with Swift even relying on fans to help her remember the order of words on her “whisky on ice, Sunset and Vine” line. She restarted the song to get it right, so those sitting in or around section H on the floor got some priceless extra time to connect with her close-up.

Being One of the '12 People' Tracking Surprise Songs

Personal entertaining moment: Swift referenced that something like 12 people were out there keeping score of her Eras Tour surprise songs, something this editor has been doing since weekend one of the tour. See Billboard ‘s complete list of all the surprise songs so far right here . She also talked about folks making bets on the song selections each week, which is not happening here — but dear reader, if that’s you: Have the best time with that.

'Vigilante Shit' Burning It Down

Several weeks into the tour, the crowd is still going absolutely nuts for “Vigilante Shit.”

Swift, dancing on chairs with her crew like they’re straight out of a modern Cabaret , puts on quite the theatrical performance — and it’s the sexiest one of the night. Atlanta’s showing was no exception to this consistently excellent Eras act. If you can avoid any spoilers before her tour makes it your way, make it this steamy one.

'Midnight Rain' Really Happened

There’s something ’bout the way the street looks when it’s just rained, right?

It’s tough to keep track of just how many times Swift’s written lyrics about rain over the years, and it was fitting to flood out of the stadium into a cool rainfall after the heat of “Vigilante Shit” and the high of the night’s super fun closer, “Karma,” as the clock neared midnight.

The Eras Tour: Atlanta, Georgia (Night 1)

ATLANTA - After breaking records with her new album, Taylor Swift is coming to Atlanta as part of her U.S. tour.

The 27-date "The Eras Tour" starts March 18, 2023 in Arizona  and continues through Aug. 4 and 5 in Los Angeles.

Swift will perform at Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium for two nights on Friday, April 28 and Saturday, April 29. Joining her on her Atlanta stops will be special guests beabadoobea and Gracie Abrams.

"I can’t WAIT to see your gorgeous faces out there. It’s been a long time coming," Swift said on Instagram , Tuesday during her announcement of the tour,

Tickets will go on sale to the general public starting at 10 a.m. on Nov. 18.

Fans can also registered with Ticketmaster's Verified Fan program to get the chance to buy tickets on Nov. 15 at 10 a.m. Falcons season ticket holders and Capitol One cardholders will also be able to purchase tickets early.

The tour announcement comes the day after Swift made music history when 10 songs from her album "Midnights" charted as the top 10 songs of the Billboard's Hot 100.

"Midnights" also broke Spotify's record for the most-streamed album in a single day when it was released on Oct. 21.

Taylor Swift announces 2023 ‘Eras Tour’ of U.S. stadiums; international dates to come

NSAI 2022 Nashville Songwriter Awards

Taylor Swift  announced Tuesday morning her long-rumored return to the road, with an outing dubbed the “Eras Tour” scheduled to hit U.S. stadiums beginning in March 2023 and running into August, with international dates set to be revealed later.

The supporting acts are very much all about the sisterhood, with a host of acts Swift has championed in the past. Opening acts for the U.S. leg of the tour are Paramore, Haim, Phoebe Bridgers, Beabadoobee, Girl in Red, Muna, Gayle, Gracie Abrams and Owenn.

The tour starts March 18, 2023 in what is apparently a sweet spot for Swift, Glendale, AZ, the same place her last outing, the pre-pandemic “Reputation” tour, began in 2018.

The U.S. leg wraps up four and a half months later with two nights at L.A.’s SoFi Stadium Aug. 4-5 — the venue she was set to open as a concert venue in 2020 with the canceled “Lover Fest” mini-tour.

As for which album we can consider the tour to be supporting, since she has released four original studios albums since her last tour? All of them. Swift described the tour as “a journey through the musical eras of my career (past and present!),” with a graphic showing her look from different phases of her career.

The public on-sale happens at 10 a.m. local time on Nov. 18. As with all major tours nowadays, there will be an earlier rollout of tickets for credit card members, in this case holders of Capital One cards, beginning Nov. 15 at 10 a.m. local time.

As with her previous tour, there will be a Ticketmaster Verified Fan program “to ensure tickets get into the hands of fans.” Aspiring ticket buyers can register for the setup now through Nov. 9  here .

Unusually in the modern era of variably priced “platinum tickets” where fans get little information about set ticket prices, Swift has announced the cost of her tickets in advance. They run from $49 up to $449, with VIP packages that start at $199 and go up to $899.

Swift’s announcement promised that international dates are to follow.

Of all her “Eras,” Swift is really due to represent the modern one on tour, as much as fans may relish the idea of a somewhat nostalgically themed outing encompassing the full spectrum of her career. She has released “Lover,” “Folklore,” “Evermore” and now “ Midnights ” since she last was on the road, along with bonus-track-aided re-recordings of the “Red” and “Fearless” albums, any one of which would have been occasion enough to prompt its own tour in an era before the entire concert scene necessarily hit a pause.

There was an attention to detail in the tour announcement even in the graphics signifying the opening acts at different spots in the tour routing, with Bridgers, for instance, being represented by a tiny ghost, in honor of the skeleton costume she’s used on her own headlining tours.

Not accidental, probably, is how that same graphic breaks the tour itinerary down into two columns of 13 dates each. There will be 26 shows in 20 cities. The venues getting a two-night stand are in Los Angeles, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Chicago, Arlington, TX, Foxborough, MA and East Rutherford, NJ.

The reception for “Midnights” upon its October release left no doubt just how strong the appetite for Swift tickets will be. It had the biggest week since Adele’s “25” album, per Luminate this week, with 1,578,000 album-equivalent units.

Additionally, it was announced Monday that for the first time in history, all 10 top slots of the Billboard Hot 100 were filled by a single artist’s songs, with “Anti-Hero” leading the way at No. 1. Fans very much wanted the full album, anyway — of the nearly 1.6 million album units registered for “Midnights,” 1,140,000 were copies purchased in the form of the full album. It became Swift’s fifth album, out of her 10 original studio releases overall, to sell a million-plus copies in the first week out. The figure also represented the best first-week sales for an album by any performer since “Reputation” came out of the gate with 1,216,000.

How to host the ultimate taylor swift eras tour-themed party.

eras tour atlanta pre party

Is the Taylor Swift Eras Tour taking over your FYP ? Your Insta explore page? DW, us too. Seeing snippets from the extensive setlist (44 songs!) is super exciting but can leave us feeling a little sad that we're not jamming out with Tay in person. If you're looking for ways to cure a case of FOMO, we know just the remedy: an Eras Tour-themed party!

Whether you've snatched up some tickets and want to celebrate or are just planning a party to rival the Eras Tour itself (thx for nothing, Ticketmaster), we're breaking down everything you need to host the most enchanted Swiftie bash. There's definitely gonna be glitter on the floor after this party.

The invites

Not to bring back any bad mems of Nov. 15 (the infamous Eras presale date), but what better way to invite your besties to your tour-themed party than by sending them a Ticketmaster-style invite?

You can send them a ticket-like invite in the mail with the date, time and location of your soiree, or you can go full Ticketmaster by sending your invitees an email or text saying something like, "Congratulations, you are invited to RSVP to Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour (Party)!". Make sure to include the date and location of your party here, too. Don't want to fool your BFFs!

eras tour atlanta pre party

The dress code

This is the most fun (and Insta-worthy!) part, tbh. Once all of your besties have RSVP'd, invite them to dress up in their best  Eras tour-inspired outfit. This could be anything from the iconic "You Belong with Me" music video fit to a fave opening act's signature look (Phoebe Bridgers skeleton suit, anyone?). Just like all the concert looks we've been seeing on TikTok, you can get super creative. Wear the fits of your wildest dreams—we can't wait to see the Insta pics.

@overdramaticperson my entire fyp is just eras tour outfits and i have watched every single one of them ♬ new romantics - a (Taylor’s Version)

OK, our goal here is to make your party venue look and feel *just* like a concert scene. You're gonna need some decorative lights (like this mirrorball ) to set the mood. You can also use multicolored balloons or biodegradable star confetti (just like the ones Tay uses) to enhance the color. Bonus points if they're album-themed!

Another cute idea: DIY photo booth! If you've got a tripod (or even just a chair or table), you can set up a phone to take pics with. And no photo booth is complete without props! Accessories like a microphone, a "22"-inspired fedora and a blow-up guitar would make for adorable flicks.

As for the music? Use Taylor's setlist, duh! You can find it here.

@r.eeh1 It’s my birthdayyyy #mirrorball #fyp #bd #اكسبلور ♬ mirrorball x the archer - r & m <33

All good parties have a delish, diverse spread. It's a good thing that Taylor's repertoire has a range of music to match. Pair a dish to an album or invite your friends to bring an Eras-inspired treat of their choice! A Swiftie potluck, if you will.

Here are some of our fave treats (album by album):

  • Debut: Tim McGraw's sliders (his fave food!)
  • Fearless: "Superstar"-shaped cookies
  • Speak Now: "Sparks Fly" popping candies
  • Red: "Burning red" velvet brownies
  • 1989: "Welcome to New York"-style pizza
  • Reputation: LWYMMD gummy snakes
  • Lover: "Cruel Summer" watermelon skewers
  • Folklore: Joe's frozen yogurt
  • Evermore: Sparkling cider (for all of your "Champagne Problems")
  • Midnights: "Bejeweled" cupcakes with edible glitter

The activities

As blondie says in "You're On Your Own Kid," it's time to make the friendship bracelets. All you need are some string and some pony beads, both the alphabet kind and beads with the cutest album-themed colors. Pick out your fave Taylor songs or albums to shout out on your jewelry. Can't stop listening to Speak Now? A purple and white bracelet with the words "Sparks Fly" would be perf.

If you're looking for more activities, try some Taylor Swift karaoke—there are plenty of free lyric videos on YouTube! If singing isn't your squad's thing, "Name That Taylor Swift Song" is a crowd-pleaser for any Swiftie friend group. Crown the winner with the title of the ultimate "Mastermind."

eras tour atlanta pre party

The favors

You may not have actual Eras Tour merch to give to your BFFs, but you can still send them off with the cutest DIY Swiftie keepsakes! You can make your gal pals feel loved by creating a personalized Taylor Swift playlist for each guest. Bake a batch of delish chai cookies ( Taylor's own recipe ) for a take-home treat as well. All good things must come to end, but this party will def be an ~era~ to remember.

@liv1ivliv I just realized I hit 300k THANK YOU THANK UOU ily all this has made my day🫶🏻 (this is an older video I’m working on new content as we type) #heartshaped #taylorswift #chaicookies #foryoupage #viral #baking ♬ all too well 10 min version sped up - bia (taylor’s version)

Important information for buying tickets during the TaylorSwiftTix Presale powered by Verified Fan:

Our goal is to maximize the number of fans who have an opportunity to shop.

The link in your text will direct you to the show you were selected for — either a show that was available during registration or a show that was announced after registration closed.

If you were selected for a show available during registration, your code will enable you to shop  that  show  or any show in the same city  that was announced after registration closed. (You will not be able to shop a different show that was available during registration).

If you were selected for a show announced after registration closed — i.e., the link in your text directs you to one of those shows — your code is good for that show. We recommend you use the code for that show as it will have the greatest availability for you. If you choose, you can use your code instead for the show you prioritized first during registration; however, we expect demand for that show to be higher and your wait to be longer.

Remember, each code only allows you to purchase 6 tickets.

Taylor Swift announced Tuesday morning her long-rumored return to the road, with an outing dubbed the “ Eras Tour ” scheduled to hit U.S. stadiums beginning in March 2023 and running into August, with international dates set to be revealed later.

The support acts are very much all about the sisterhood, with a host of acts Swift has championed in the past. Opening acts for the U.S. leg of the tour are Paramore , Haim , Phoebe Bridgers , Beabadoobee, Girl in Red, Muna, Gayle, Gracie Abrams and Owenn.

The tour starts March 18, 2023 in what is apparently a sweet spot for Swift, Glendale, Ariz., the same place her last outing, the pre-pandemic “Reputation” tour, began in 2018.

As for which album we can consider the tour to be supporting, since she has released four original studios albums since her last tour? All of them. Swift described the tour as “a journey through the musical eras of my career (past and present!),” with a graphic showing her look from different phases of her career.

See the full itinerary, with color-coded graphics indicating which of the nine opening acts got the gigs in which cities:

The public on-sale happens at 10 a.m. local time on Nov. 18. As with all major tours nowadays, there will be an earlier rollout of tickets for credit card members, in this case holders of Capital One cards, beginning Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. through Nov. 17 at 10 p.m. local times.

There will be 27 shows in 20 cities. The venues getting a two-night stand are in Los Angeles, Atlanta, Philadelphia and Chicago, as well as Arlington, Texas; Foxborough, Mass.; and East Rutherford, N.J.

The “Eras Tour” is being produced in-house by Taylor Swift Touring and promoted by the Messina Touring Group.

The tour’s opening acts expressed their enthusiasm in their own ways, such as the tweet from Muna that declared the group “gay for Tay” and pictured the trio in miniature, resting atop Swift’s lighter on the “Midnights” album cover.
