I recently stayed as a guest of a friend here. sites are a little tight but doable. Bath houses are very nice. You won't find anything as nice this close to the beach. there must be seasonal campers here that act like they own it. I was walking past a seasonal site s4 and their german shepherds almost came thru the screen room causing me to fall, and the owner clearly had no control over the dogs, and didn't care. I'd stay here again, but there needs to be more control over campers with aggressive dogs. The people next to them came to my aid, with their dog in control. I never got a chance to thank them.

I would highly recommend Depot Travel Park for a stay at Cape May. The grounds are well-maintained and the laundry and bathrooms are modern and are always clean and well-maintained. The campground is an efficiently run place and I've always enjoyed my stays here. We first stayed here back in 2012 as our first camping experience and I loved it. We were able to bicycle to the beaches and to everything Cape May has to offer. We have made several trips back here and enjoyed them all. I am hoping to have a seasonal stay here in the near future. Depot Travel Park also opens the campground for a weekend in December for the Cape May Christmas Parade, so I'm hoping to do stay here for it this year. If you are looking for what I like to call a 'destination' campground as your home base at the Jersey Shore, Depot Park is a great place for you. If you're looking for a 'resort' campground with a pool and lots of scheduled activities and amenities, this place may not be up your alley. Last year we stayed at another campground up the road because Depot was full, and while it was nice over there, I wanted to be here close to everything (and a favorite restaurant of mine, the nearby Bella Vida Cafe).

I have been camping here for multiple months as my work involves traveling. This is an expensive camp ground, and it does have a great location, but it isn't worth it, especially considering the amount of disrespect I have received. Upon paying for the site the owners were well aware I would be coming and going from the site. I travel in a van, so I decorated my site with prayer flags and also travel with a hibiscus plant which is sentimental to me. One of the employees recently helped themselves to it, under the guise that they were "worried" about it. I am stuck here waiting for it to be returned as they had the audacity to bring it home, they did not bother to see that my site is paid for in full through mid October or leave it at camp ground office if they were really that concerned. Essentially they stole a beautiful plant and have the audacity to yell in my face, literally point fingers at me, and throw it back on me when they themselves committed an act of theft. You would think a campground this large, which knows the license plate, type of camper, and length of stay would do way better. This is the second time I have had to hunt this plant down while staying here. Many other campers have plants all around here, and at the last campground I never experienced anything like this. They also had my prayer flags crumpled up in the back of a backhoe as if they were trash. You wouldn't do that to a crucifix. I have been having packages sent here, so I was clearly coming back. Bathrooms are kept clean. But the sites are sandpits. Some employees are kind but many are short with you, as if they can't stand tourists. They were fiery mad at me for being upset with their less than ideal behavior. I will bide my time until I leave but apparently I can't leave my plant here any longer. I would never come back.

Not geared for high activity but a nice and well maintained camp ground . Safe fir kids but no arcade or pool . Geared towards relaxing , quiet and clean camping low noise, and clean bathrooms and showers . Each year here this campground improves and just gets better. So relax , enjoy the peace . Only 1.15 miles to the beach by bicycle .

Great place run by nice people. Look at the bad reviews and take notice... all left by people who either can't follow rules or think the rule don't apply to them. It's absolutely not the place to go if you have issues with rules as the depot cares about the safety and security of their GUESTS. All campgrounds should be run this way... especially when it comes to speeding on premises.

I grew up staying in beachfront condos for shore vacations. When I was married, I vacationed at the Victorian B&Bs in Cape May. The week I just spent at The Depot Travel Park was without question the best vacation I have ever been on. The park was clean and quiet. All of the staff we encountered were very helpful and friendly. I didn't experience a negative encounter with anyone. I love that this park works hard to enforce the speed limit and quiet hours. I believe because of their hard work that they attract a very respectful and personable class of campers. My site seemed plenty large enough for my needs. Using my bicycle I could be at the beach in minutes and not have to worry about paying for parking, if you can find any. I don't think I will ever stay anywhere else at the shore again and I am looking forward to going back next summer.

We booked a stay for our week in Cape May upon arrival we checked in and the ladies in the office seemed up tight and short with me and my sister in law. There are no fire pits so you have to bring your own if you want one. Bath houses are clean. There is NO pool and the playgrounds are only okay. The main (bigger) playground the steps to go up to the platform are not attached to the poles to hold onto climbing up all of the rusty hardware is exposed and the steps are just hanging there. Luckily I noticed and had my daughter avoid it. We WILL NOT be staying again. Some of our family met up at my broth in laws site for dinner. Upon their arrival no one was in the booth or check in area so they rode in. One of our relatives was leaving in his diesel truck and didn't realize he was going 6 mph 1 mph over their strictly enforced 5. There was then someone in the booth who snapped at him and he came back with a one liner and left. He then called and left a message with the office for the owner with some choice words. The owner and his son then decided to go to my brother in laws site to try and kick them off and told them they are responsible for their guests. At this point that relative was gone and was told by the campground he was not allowed back. I would think this would suffice enough but the owners then wanted to pick an argument with my in laws and kick them out too when they were watching my kids both under 3 while me and my husband went on a date. They then left and my brother in law was told they were allowed to stay but are never to come back. The owners seem to be quite aggressive based on the way they addressed my father in law who is very laid back and wasn't looking to argue with anyone. I wish 0 stars was an option.

Well, this is our first seasonal stay here and we know we will be staying next season. [May through October] The location is fantastic. Everything in Cape May. Restaurants, Shopping, Beaches, Fishing, Boating, Bicycling all within a mile, {healthy people walk to everything}. As for the campground, it's clean, restrooms/showers and laundry room are spotless. The rules are to keep the park safe for everyone. The 5MPH speed limit helps too. There is two nice playgrounds in the park but that's it. No pool or. lake, no but who needs it? The idea of the Jersey Shore is the beaches and ocean and they are all two minute ride or fifteen minute walk or ten minute ride on a golf cart (legally in New Jersey, LSV; low speed vehicle). BTW, if you don't have a LSV but would love to tour the town on one, they rent them here at the campground office. They don't have fire rings but allow you to have campfires on your site with firewood purchased from them. The Depot Travel Park is family owned and they are always on the grounds keeping it perfect. Negative reviews are from people who just don't like or understand rules. This is one of the only campgrounds at the Jersey Shore, that if available, will rent for one night which makes it wonderful for campers passing through. They offer tent sites in the shade with electric and water, rev sites with water, electric and cable and full hookups with water, electric (50amp), sewer and cable. All in all, if you haven't stayed here and love Cape May, you have to give it a try. You will not be disappointed.

BE AWARE - no creditcards accepted! I dunno how you can plan to stay here in short notice because they make you MAIL a check for reservations. Other than that: Nice grounds Super-clean, well lit bathrooms/showers. Check in was efficient. No campfire rings, but groundfires are allowed so it's all the same. Close to town to bike (or drive) Would definitely come again!

I called ahead earlier in the day and was advised that they do have after hour check ins. I got there around 6pm on Sunday. I filled out the envelope with all of my info and also stated i did not have enough cash to put in the envelope, but I would be there in the morning to pay. I hooked up and settled in for the evening. It was quiet enough. It seems like there were a lot of rigs there, but no residents that I saw. Around 10:00 am I went to the front office on my way out. I was then told that they didn't accept credit cards and that they have not yet reinstalled their ATM machine. I had $34 cash on me. It was $43 for the night. I was driving a 26' motorhome. I offered to give them the $34 cash, my debit card info so when they got their machine hooked up they could run it. I also offered to do an electronic payment from my account. I also offered to send them a check when I got back home. That meant they would have had to wait less than a week for the $9 balance. The man behind the counter said no to all my options and insisted I go to a bank or ATM elsewhere and then bring back the $9. I said it's hard for me to navigate through their small town in a motorhome and find parking. Also the extra fee I would be charged as well as gas. He didn't care. He took out the local map and proceeded to tell me where I could go to find an ATM. The directions he gave me were worthless since a couple of roads were closed due to road constructions. It took me over 40 minutes to get back with the money. During my drive back going different roads, I was getting calls from NO ID. I don't answer those. When I got back I paid him the $43. At that point, a police officer walked in. I guess it was him trying to call me. I let them both know that this situation would have been avoided if they posted that they did not accept credit cards on the outside. As you can see by the attached pics, they even have the ATM signage up. I would have not stayed last night had I known that they did not accept credit cards, nor had their ATM hooked up. The customer service he provided was awful! For $9 he could not work with me. I wasted more money and time because of their not posting the appropriate signage and then not working with a customer. I was a corporate trainer with both FedEx and American Express before I retired and I can tell you that what we teach for basic customer service is that you work with the customer to resolve things. Especially if the company played a hand in creating the situation. In this case, all he kept telling me is they've been doing business like this for over 40 years. I never got his name but on my invoice it had initials AGR. About 25-30 wearing a baseball cap. Wore a wedding band. I will never recommend this park to anyone. Too many in this cute town to spend anymore money here.

“Nice Campground close to town”

smu User Image

You are only about 1.2 miles to center of town. CG was very quiet in October. Sites are good size, level and all utilities worked well. Wifi was strong. No dog park, but lots of grass We camped at The Depot Travel Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Go to mad batter for breakfast. Other restaurants in town were all good. Also, go to the Lobster House for a great dinner.

“Close to everything”

Clean, quiet campground. Level dirt site #21. Not much grass outside the door. A lot of empty campers here with wooden decks. Seasonal stays that winterize here. Will stay here again if in the area. We camped at The Depot Travel Park in a Motorhome.

Don't eat at the lobster house, food was not that good for the price. Area was not crowded this time of year and we enjoyed beautiful weather for this time of year.

Small campground in cape may bath house are very clean with both play ground being awesome . The staff is very nice as long as your following the rules there are no problems do the 5 mp speed limit and you get no problem . Fires can be anywhere on the site.

I traveled across the country multiple times in an RV and this is one of the 3 worst campgrounds in America. First it is a parking lot with grass patches. You will be 3 feet from your neighbor. If you would like a friend to join you for dinner be prepared to pay. And don't you dare go 6 mph instead of the posted 5 or they won't allow you back into the site with your car. In all honesty there are much better camping accommodations throughout cape may that you will enjoy far more for literally half the price. So in conclusion this is nothing more than a glorified parking lot that is run by money hungry lunatics. Out of the 300 or so campgrounds that I have visited in my life, this one ranks in the top 3 of the worst on the country.

New bathrooms are very nice..regarding.the older comments about the owner's family members being aggressive and rude to guests-this is noticeably better--maybe 70% decreased. Much better in the office during check in. Closest to the beach and clean.

We were pleasantly surprised at how nicely kept and quiet this campground was. We love Cape May and visit often. It is a good walk into town and close to the beach. Through the years we have camped at various campground in Cape May Courthouse due to the pools and amenities. I had looked at Depot Travel many times but passed on it due to the lack of amenities. But our friends had stayed there and raved about it so then we all camped there and enjoyed our long weekend. We would love to see a pool or at least a basketball court or some other activity for teenagers. I didn't understand why there were 2 playgrounds but nothing for older children.

We are a family of 8 who are frequent flyers to Cape May. This is our 4th stay with Travel Depot and we LOVE it here. Staff was VERY nice to us. I love that they are very accepting of children with special needs. (it made us feel welcome) FOLLOW THE RULES and you will have a great time. Nice little RV park. Seasonal and transit lots for RVs. Our review is based on seasonal. The ladies in the office were always nice and helpful. Most of the staff was very nice, but not all staff was nice. The park has many strict rules. Very close to Cape May which is why we loved it so much. We were seasonal for 2 years. The first year was great, the second year we upgraded our RV to a longer length. The longest length allowed for seasonal at Travel Depot is 37 feet. The ladder and bumper were taken off when the RV was purchased to keep the length within regulation and was measured at 37 ft prior to leaving the lot, however when measured by a Travel Depot staff member, the length he obtained was 37ft, 1 in. initially, then when measured a second time somehow he measured the length at 37ft, 3inches! The staff was not willing to work with us; we were told we had to pull out at the end of the season, October 2019. We were told we could bring it back next season for the season only. Never really understood the logic when all the activity goes on during on-season as opposed to off season. Resulted in having to find a new seasonal lot in a whole new RV park as well as storage for the RV when pulling out of Travel Depot as we are unable to move into the new RV park until the beginning of November. We had such a nice lot and had to remove all of the nice extras we added over the last 2 years. Really a shame they were not willing to work with us because we really did like it there. The park is nice and clean, with clean bathhouses and laundry facilities, nice playground for children and a nice picnic area, right outside of Cape May. Overall a very nice RV park, however if you are looking into a seasonal spot, be cautious that you follow all of the multiple rules and regulations, they will not negotiate at all!

Awesome camping site! Friendly staff and very clean facilities. Perfect place to sleep under the stars and super close to the beach! Also very close to great restaurants in Cape May. There is also a wonderful farm stand at the entrance of the park. Fresh summer fruits. Enjoy!

We stayed a few nights in August. This site has transient and yearly spots. We were traveling through New Jersey and stop into cape may for a look. Walking distance to the downtown. 20-25 min walk. Cape May is the most beautifull spot to visit. Safe and secure lot.

We love this campground! It is clean and well cared for. The staff is very helpful and the people there camping are very friendly and willing to help if needed. It is a close bike ride to the beach and so many other great activities. This was our first summer as Seasonal campers and we are so happy to be here.

Depot Travel Park is our go to every year for our anniversary. We like that it is small but quaint not a lot of kids running around. Owners keep the place very clean and are very strict on speed throughout campground Location is centerally locates to everything including the beach. We ride our bikes to beach to avoid paying to park. There is a group of 6 campers that go with us. We have a blast! They don’t have a pool but that is fine with us. If your looking for low key this is your place. Can’t wait to go back in June.

Convenient campground

This campground is centrally located to many activities in Cape May. Campground is well maintained. Sites are very close together.

Tight spots! Great locale

Loved the little farm stand outside of the property on the main road. But you’re not allowed to bring yourself own firewood, even if it’s local, which I think is tacky when your charging a small fortune for a tiny bundle.

Some sites are very grassy and others are very sandy. These sites are right…

The Depot Travel Park West Cape May, NJ Our travel experience to The Depot Travel Park was less than pleasant. The first response from management when we questioned communication by email was “we sent the same email to all past registered quests.” Of course, it was our fault we did not get two emails that were sent in 2022. Then we requested a full hook-up site, and we were told there were none available. We asked to be put on a wait list if anything became available. We booked the stay from June 30, 2022, to July 10, 2022. We were told we would have to move from the first site on July 8th to a second site three full rows back deeper into the campground. At 1:10pm July 8th we received a call from the office asking why we had not moved. I said I did not know it was my responsibility to find out if the previous guests had checked out. You needed to move by 1:00pm. I asked again if it was possible to stay at the current location. The response was” no, the grass still needed to be mowed at the current site.” “No, those sights are fully booked” I said “ok” and got cut off on the phone call. Within 2 minutes the “Hit Man” was sent to question why I was still on the site and accused me of hanging up on the office. The demeanor of most management at The Depot acted like we were a bother, even-though we paid our funds in full. The check-in time is 3:00pm. We packed up and proceeded to move to the new site. We were move by 2:30pm. My wife noticed the grass on the new site was long, with lots of clover in bloom, which had many bees. Both my son and I are allergic to bee stings. We carry epi-pins with us. My wife called the office and the person said someone will be there shortly to take care of the grass. The employee said he was not told that anyone was moving to that site, or he would have taken care of it before we moved. “The Depot” is not handicap friendly except for normal wide stalls and one shower facility which now was far away. There is not consideration of a below the knee amputee needing anything additional in the way of accommodations on the campgrounds. I would label this business as discriminating and not willing to accommodate all guests. Reasonable accommodations were not met. Not only do they act as bullies, discriminate and they also tell lies. We were told several times that every site was booked in the section of the first site we had to move from. That was not true, I have pictures to prove that 4 sites in that same row were empty from 7/8 thru 7/10 when we left the campground. Copied directed from The Depot web site. “The Management reserves the right to evict anyone who speaks in a derogatory manner of this park or any employee or resident therein, or who refuses to comply completely with all Rules and Regulation as herein provided. Management also reserves the right to add to or alter these Rules and Regulations, as written, as circumstances require. Violation of any park Rules or regulations, or unreasonable conduct, may result in your immediate expulsion from the park with no refund of any prepaid rental. Great place! Love the beach location, the bathrooms are very clean & the people who run it are very nice. It’s a great place for people who love the beach & like to bike around. The price great for the location & their are wineries & breweries close by as well! This was Our 3rd time & we will be back again.

Wonderful camping experience at the jersey Shore. We booked back to back sites with friends. Quiet campground, family park. Spacious Shaded sites. Restrooms were spotless. Owners were proactive and always available. Look forward to a return trip.

Small campground in cape may bath house are very clean with both play ground being awesome . The staff is very nice as long as your following the rules there are no problems do the 5 mp speed limit and you get no problem . Fires can be anywhere on the site.

One of our relatives was leaving in his diesel truck and didn’t realize he was going 6 mph 1 mph over their strictly enforced 5. The owners seem to be quite aggressive based on the way they addressed my father in law who is very laid back and wasn’t looking to argue with anyone. I wish 0 stars was an option.
