Remember that epic moment from 2011, when MS Dhoni bagged India the men's World Cup with a six? Soon, you can visit the hallowed Wankhede Cricket Stadium where it all happened.

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has accepted Maharashtra Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray's proposal to open the iconic grounds for tourists. Not only this, Mumbai might also get its very own museum dedicated entirely to Indian cricket.

"We at the Tourism Dept had requested @MumbaiCricAssoc to work with us on opening up of Wankhede Stadium for a stadium experience-tour to tourists and fans from around the world," Thackeray tweeted on Tuesday. "They have agreed in principle to work together on the same…  This truly shall be a place for not just tourists, but for devotees of cricket and their favourite players."

History of Gateway of India

Gateway of India was built to mark the royal visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Mumbai (Bombay) in 1911. Foundation of the monument was laid out by the then Governor of Bombay, Sir George Sydenham Clarke in March 1911. The construction of this monument was completed in 1924.

Once representing the grandeur of British era, it was also the place from where the last troop of British regiment marched at the time of independence. A ceremony on the passing of the 'First Battalion of the Somerset Light Infantry' was conducted here for the same in 1948.

Architecture of Gateway of India

The monument, Gateway of India stands majestic with an arch of height of 26 meter. It is designed by the then renowned architect George Wittet. It has been built in the architectural style of Indo-Saracenic and has a touch of Islamic architectural styles too. Constructed in yellow basalt and binding concrete, it consists of exquisite lattice work. Its central dome with a height of 83 feet with a diameter of 48 feet makes the monument even more imposing. 7. Rajabai Clock Tower

Rajabai Clock Tower is an 85-metre tall tower in the Fort Campus of the University of Mumbai. Premchand Roychand, a businessman and a stockbroker, financed its construction. And Sir George Gilbert Scott designed it.

The tower resembles London’s Big Ben, and it is among the tallest structures in the area. It chimes every fifteen minutes. The construction began in 1869, and it was completed by 1878.

The access to the inside of the tower is closed to visitors, but you can admire the architecture and detailed stonework from outside. The tower has one of the best stained-glass works in the city. And the architecture is a blend of Venetian-Gothic style. The tower also has 24 small statues, portraying the life of common people during the British rule.

8. Bombay High Court

Bombay High Court is one of the oldest High Courts in India, and it’s a UNESCO-recognised site. It was built in the 19th century, in the grand Gothic Revival architectural style. And you'll find traces of Victorian style too.

With lakhs of devotees visiting every day, it is also one of the richest temples in Mumbai. Dedicated to Lord Ganesha, Shree Siddhivinayak Temple was built in the year 1801. Since then it has been attracting devotees from all over the country. Tuesday is one of the most important days of the temple. Celebrities and lay person both flock to the temple alike to seek blessings. Its architectural excellence and divine statue of Lord Ganesha adds to the splendor of the temple. More than two centuries old, Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati Temple is believed to fulfil wishes and desires of everyone who pray with utmost devotion to the lord.

Story of Shree Siddhivinayak temple

There is a story behind the temple as per which its construction was funded by rich woman named Deubai Patil. As she was childless, she wished to create a temple where childless couples can come and worship the lord for children. Later an ardent disciple of Saint Akkalkot Swami Samarth, Ramakrishna Jambhekar Maharaj, on instruction of his guru, buried two divine idols in front of the temple. Later, after 21 years, as prophesied by the saint, a tree grew on the same spot bearing a svayambhu Ganesha.

Architecture of Shree Siddhivinayak temple

Shree Siddhivinayak temple was first built in the year 1801. Laxman Vithu and Deubai Patil are the brains behind its construction. Later the temple was rebuilt so as to accommodate more number of devotees.

Although small, the initial architecture of the temple was equally captivating. It consisted of a hall, a sanctum sanctorum and water tank. An administrative office of the temple was also built on its right side.

Lord Ganesha idol at the temple is as alluring as its excellent architecture. The idol of Lord Ganesha is carved out of a single black stone. It has a height of 2.5 feet and width of 2 feet. The unique feature of this idol is that the trunk of the Lord Ganesha is tilted towards right side. The idol of Lord Ganesha is Chaturbhuj, meaning it has four hands. The upper right hand of the deity holds a lotus flower while the lower right hand holds a rosary. The upper left hand holds an axe and the lower left hand of the Lord holds a modaka, which is considered to be lord’s favourite sweet. There is a snake that hangs like threat on the deity’s neck. On to the sides of the main deity, idols of Goddess Riddhi and Siddhi are placed.

The current structure of Shree Siddhivinayak temple is a result of the determinations of Shri Sharad Athale from SK Athale & Associates. Apart from the idol of the main deity that was kept intact, the temple was reconstructed into its present architecture.

The sanctum sanctorum has wooden doors that are intricately carved with images of eight forms of Lord Ganesha, called as Ashtavinayaka and the interior roof is plated in gold. 11. Girgaon Chowpatty

The island is consisted of two set of caves; the first set is of five caves that are related to Hindu religion, dedicated to Lord Shiva and the second set is of two Buddhist caves. History of Elephanta Caves

According to the most popular theories, Elephanta Caves date back to 5th – 8th century, however the exact period when these were built and its creators are still a mystery. As per some theories, these caves were excavated during 450 to 750 AD, while later it came under various dynasties. From Chalukyas of Badami Dynasty, Mauryas of Konkan, Trikutakas, Silaharas, Rashtrakutas, Yadavas of Deogiri, Kalyani Chalukyas, Shahi dynasty of Gujarat, Marathas to Portuguese and British, Elephanta Island and the caves saw many reigns.

The main cave of the Elephanta caves was a religious shrine for Hindus which later suffered huge damages during the rule of Portuguese since 1953. In 1970s, the cave was renovated. In 1987, it was recognized as the UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is now maintained by the ASI (Archaeological Survey of India).

Architecture of Elephanta Caves

Elephanta Caves were built by carving the rocks. Its rock-cut architecture presents an alluring sight. Spread over an area of 6000 sq. feet, the entire cave complex is consisted of a main chamber, two side chambers, various small shrines and courtyards. The columns, spaces and images have been carved out aesthetically in the caves.

The cave 1, which has been built in Brahmanical rock-cut architecture, is the most captivating cave, with brilliant sculptures. There are three entrances to the cave temple- the main entrance on the north while one opening on the west and another on the east. A huge hall in the centre consisting of six rows of pillared columns adds on to the impressive structure of the caves. Each row consists of six pillars except the row on the western corner where a lingam of Lord Shiva is located.

There are three indentations on the walls, each with a massive image of dvarapala. On the east side, there is an Ardhanarishvara figure, which is a form of Lord Shiva where energies of male and female amalgamated while to the west, there are figures of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. While the central part showcases an impressive figure of Mahesa-murti. There are many other sections in the cave, each presenting beautiful carvings. Andhakasura Vada murti, Kalyanasundara murti; Lord Shiva as Lakulisa, Gangadhara murti and Ravana shaking Kailasa are few other worth noticing figures here.

Elephanta Cave Timings and Entry Fee

Timings of Elephanta Caves are from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM. It is open on all days of the week except on Mondays.

The entry fee of Elephanta caves is Rs.40 per person for Indian citizens as well as visitors from countries like Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Maldives, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Afghanistan while it is Rs.600 for tourists from other countries.

There is a minimal charge for videography at the caves while photography is free of cost. A toy train also runs on the Elephanta pier, between the ferry point and the caves. The ticket cost for the toy train is Rs.10 per person.

Boat Timings to Elephanta Caves : The ferry boat to Elephanta caves starts at 9 AM from Gateway of India while the first boat to return from elephanta caves starts at 12 in noon. The last boat that leaves the Elephanta caves is at 5.30 PM.

How to reach Elephanta Caves

Reaching Elephanta caves is not at all a difficult task. Tourists are required to reach Gateway of India , which is another prominent landmark in the city. From there you can take a ferry that takes around 1 hour to reach Elephanta caves.

One can hire a taxi or city bus to reach Gateway of India. If travelling by local trains, then you can get down at the Church gate station, which is located nearby. 16. Haji Ali Dargah

Haji Ali Dargah is a mosque built on an islet, only a few hundred metres away from Shree Mahalakshmi Temple. And a narrow, pebbled walkway connects it to the mainland. Haji Ali is also the shrine of a Sufi saint, Haji Ali Shah Bukhari.

This mosque was built in 1431, in the Indo-Islamic style. The central courtyard of the complex is made of marble. And the ceiling in the main hall is also of marble. It has been decorated with various coloured mirror patterns and Arabic inscriptions. You'll also notice Quran verses on the ceilings and the walls.

The tallest minaret of Haji Ali Dargah is 85 feet high. And from that minaret, namaz calls are made at the five designated times of the day.

17. Juhu Beach

Juhu Beach is among the well-known beaches in India. It is popular for the mesmerising views of the sunset and the street food corners in the area.

Apart from enjoying the food, you can also check out activities like camel riding and horse riding on the beach. Global Vipassana Pagoda is a meditation dome on the outskirts of Mumbai. The dome is built as a tribute to a Vipassana teacher – Sayagyi U Ba Khin, and it resembles the Shwedagon Pagoda of Myanmar.

The dome of the pagoda is the world’s largest stone dome standing without any supporting pillars. And 8000 people can meditate at a time here.

The architectural pagoda and the intricately carved gates are among the major points of tourist interests. But there also are other structures like the 21.5 feet high statue of Gautam Buddha, the Bell Tower and the Gong Tower. Essel World is an amusement park, only a few metres from Global Vipassana Pagoda. It’s a popular getaway for relaxation for local people, and it is also among the famous amusement parks in India.

27. Water Kingdom

Water Kingdom is a water-themed amusement park right next to Essel World. It has various wet adventure rides, fun-filled water slides and numerous pools to play together. And many people visit Essel World and Water Kingdom together.

This park also has a large wave pool and over 30 water activities, including a rain dance floor.

And if you aren’t interested in the water games, you can relax beside the pools with some cold drinks and snacks. Water Kingdom has a couple of restaurants and snacks parlours serving a variety of delicacies.

28. Powai Lake

Powai Lake is an artificial lake known for its charming evenings. The lake is surrounded by trees and bushes, and you will find many birds like kingfishers, herons and falcons. Bees and various colourful butterflies can also be seen near Powai Lake.

And the lake also has many fishes and a few crocodiles.

Nehru Science Centre is the largest interactive science centre in India.

The science centre offers practical experience with laws of physics, human anatomy, and many other facets of science. The available activities also include regular shows, films, and documentaries.

30. Mumbai Zoo

Mumbai Zoo, or Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Udyan, is one of the oldest zoos in India. It was established in 1861.

This laundry was set up by an association of 50 washers in 1890. And today, around 700 washer families live here. And although some have installed washing and drying machines, most still carry on their work manually.

Apart from the stadium, a museum is also going to come up in the city dedicated to Indian cricket. Former Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni had bagged the 2011 men’s World Cup on the Wankhede Stadium, beating Sri Lanka. So, the authorities have decided to dedicate a permanent position in his name at the stand where his ‘2011 World Cup-winning six’ landed. Referring to the same, Maharashtra’s Minister of Tourism and Environment, Aaditya Thackeray, tweeted, “ We at the Tourism Dept had requested @MumbaiCricAssoc to work with us on opening up of Wankhede Stadium for a stadium experience tour to tourists and fans from around the world. In another tweet, Thackeray added, “Along with the stadium experience tour, I had discussed with Hon’ble Sharad Pawar sir earlier, and MCA President Vijay Patil ji, on having a museum of “Indian Cricket emanating from Mumbai”. The MCA has agreed for this as well, to be either in Wankhede or any suitable place.”

He also said, “ I’m thankful to the MCA apex committee for this key partnership. For most of us, Cricket is a religion. Wankhede is where India won the World Cup. This truly shall be a place for not just tourists, but for devotees of cricket and their fav players “.

MCA has identified the seat where the ball of MS Dhoni’s ‘2011 World Cup-winning six’ landed. It is seat number 210 in MCA Pavilion’s Block L. The authority is planning to create a permanent seat on that place dedicated to the former Indian cricket team caption. Reportedly, MCA president Vijay Patil said, “On the advice of Sharad Pawar (we) are establishing a cricket museum and we are delighted to partner with MTDC to promote the iconic Wankhede Stadium as a must-visit place for sports fan visiting Mumbai from around the world. My deep appreciation to Aaditya Thackeray for taking this initiative on behalf of the Government of Maharashtra to promote Mumbai cricket.”

Wankhede Stadium serves as the players’ temple since Mumbai has a history of attracting cricket fans and is still regarded as the nation’s cricket capital. 33,108 people can fit in the stadium after the renovation to host the 2011 Cricket World Cup. Seshrao Krishnarao Wankhede, a well-known politician and the secretary of the Bombay Cricket Association in 1975, gave the order to build Wankhede Stadium. It is reported that a disagreement between the Cricket Club of India and the Bombay Cricket Association led S. K. Wankhede to decide to construct a different stadium. The conflict, which erupted after the 1973 test match between India and England, was about the distribution and allotment of tickets for cricket events at the Cricket Club of India-owned Brabourne Stadium. The stadium was built no more than just a mile away. 

The stadium was constructed in under six months, which is the most intriguing aspect of Wankhede Stadium. The stadium was named in recognition of the then-President of the Bombay Cricket Association, Barrister S. K. Wankhede, who ordered its construction. After that, all cricket matches hosted in the city were mostly played at the Wankhede Stadium.

The Early Iconics

When the West Indies visited India in 1974–75, the Wankhede Stadium hosted its inaugural game. India lost by 201 runs as Clive Lloyd scored an undefeated 242 in Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi’s final match. A fan who ran onto the pitch to welcome Lloyd was roughed up by the police, which led to a crowd disturbance during the Test.

The first Indian victory at this venue came two seasons after, against New Zealand. Reputable architects were invited to present, and the Managing Committee chose M/s. Shashi Prabhu & Associates and M/s. P.K. Das & Associates to work together on a project for the renovation of the Wankhede Stadium. Major alterations to the stadium’s design were made to its north and south ends, focusing on improving facilities for fans, such as bucket seating, many restrooms, and food courts.

Wankhede Stadium was being renovated by Mumbai Cricket Association(MCA); However, it wasn’t ready for domestic and international cricket matches until February 2011. Best hotel service I ever had. The receptionists, the hotel porters, the cleaners and the waiters at the restaurant were all very nice towards me and my family during our entire stay. We arrived around 7am that day and requested (during the time of the booking) for early check-in because we travelled long distance and was exhausted. Not only did they provide us with rooms early that day at no extra charges, but also they served us up with food and drink while we waited for like a quick 10 mins and even bumped one of our rooms up to a bigger deluxe room so our 2 rooms can be next to each other. And the rooms were just magnificent! For a 3-star hotel, I really did not expect a hotel room to be so sophisticated and well-equipped and most importantly, so clean. The breakfast was good too. And they have gym and message chair and lots of tea =) . Too bad I'm not going to Mumbai or India for that matter anytime soon, because if I do, I'll definitely stay in this hotel again.

I had stayed for a considerable time along with a friend of mine at the Ambassador, Mumbai. The 4 star rated property is a part of the chain of heritage hotels, managed by the Narang group. It is conveniently located within a walking distance from the surreal & beautiful 'Queen's Necklace' i.e., the Marine drive near the Churchgate junction. The hotel has a magnificent and old English type lobby with beautiful chandeliers adorning the walls. Valet parking is available. Greeted with warm smiles, the whole check-in was handled with ease by the staff. We were booked on a room on the eight floor with a partial view of the sea, on request. The room was spacious, clean with a mix of modern and old fittings. A simple English type wardrobe with a locker, lcd television with a huge list of cable channels, plug points adaptable to international needs and a spacious bathroom with a tub are standard for the room, which is a deluxe category one. Strangely the mini bar is missing as we were told that the hotel doesn't have a license to serve alchol in the room. During our stay, we were pleasantly pleased with the house keeping services provided. The staff adhered to our each and every needs with a smile. Same goes for the in-room dining. The menu is limited though, with Indian and continental cuisine on offer. There are two restaurants located on the ground floor. Flavors is the buffet serving restaurant and Society is their a la carte restaurant. Breakfast buffet spread is very good serving Indian & continental fare. The one issue I had was with the sambar gravy which was on the sweeter side, but it is subjective as some do prefer the sambar that way. All items are prepared with less oil and there are options for those who prefer fruits & cereals for breakfast. The quality of food served is excellent, especially the tandoor appetizers. I had one of the best & succulent mutton seekh kababs and tandoori prawns over here. Equally admirable are their grilled chicken served with mash

Sea Palace is not a 5 star hotel, but it never claimed to be, so don't expect gaming rooms and gyms etc. For a mid-range hotel it represents excellent value. Our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. We were staying on the sea facing side, so had a lovely view as the sun rose each morning. Air-con worked fine and all basic necessities were provided. We did not have any issues with mosquitoes or any other insects. The highlight of the hotel was probably the restaurant downstairs. The food is slightly more expensive compared with eating outside, but every dish we ordered was VERY tasty and the prices are within reason. Buffet breakfast was different each day, and there was enough variety to keep my wife and I happy. They also have a rooftop bar, where we sat to watch the new years fireworks at Gateway of India. We stayed there in January 2014 and they were renovating probably half of the rooms in the whole hotel, so should be some updated rooms for anyone staying there in the near future.

We enjoyed our stay at the Gordon House. The staff were trained to provide a level of service that you would expect from a 5 star hotel. The breakfast here was FANTASTIC. It was semi-buffet/semi-cooked to order. Hot items where all cooked to order, and if they didn't have something they were more than willing to try to make it for you. Definitely the best "breakfast included" breakfast that I've had in a long time. Enjoyed the stay; the only downside was the cost. RP7500 per night!

This was my second stay at Fariyas Hotel. There hotel has upgraded and the rooms are in very good condition. The rooms are well maintained and the bed comfortable. All the facilities exceeded my expectation. The food at the restaurant was very good and delicious. The pool and deck area is well maintained and a great place to relax. The WIFI at the hotel is very good with no problems at all. The staff are very service orientated and go out of their way to assist in all areas. They assisted with booking of taxis and gave good advise to their guests. Overall Fariyas is an excellent choice of accommodation in Colaba Mumbai and I will definitely book again at Fariyas.

Marine Plaza hotel is probably one of the best hotels in Mumbai. Its beautiful art deco style and stunning views from the breakfast lounge are to behold. The Hotel staff are superlative. Kevin on reception was most helpful and Yogeshi and Rajoo on the Concierge made our stay fantastic. Our room orderly did an amazing job ensuring that the facilities were refreshed at all times. Overall great stay. I will stay here again and won't need to look elsewhere. Clean, basic hotel. Great friendly, professional staff. Excellent location in Churchgate by Marine Drive. Pros: * Really great location for price. * Staff very friendly. They go out of their way to cater to your needs. * Hot breakfast provided as room service as late as 11AM. A hot masala omelette arrived literally 4 minutes after I ordered it and they cam back to clear the tray 15 minutes later. Stellar. * I could plug US plugs into the wall in a couple of places. Cons - most are minor - I'm thinking really hard to come up with these: * Rooms are basic and not luxurious. Do not plan on impressing your travel partner with this room. * You have to pay for internet (1000 Rs for 1 hour or 2500 for 24 hours, I think). * Bathroom toilet takes a fair amount of effort to get it to successfully flush something down. I see these throughout India, so not this hotel's specific fault (silly but annoying). * Slower check in Be prepared to talk to at least 3 people at the front desk and fill out a form / forms and to provide your passport for scanning (possibly multiple times). Probably the same at other India hotels. * Bed comfortable, but not soft and plush. * AC seemed to struggle / stop working at times - still kept the room decent, though at times slightly warmer than I would have liked. I actually booked this hotel as a replacement for the first hotel I booked. I would have saved a bit of money with that first one, but I found that it was in the wrong area - not central at all - also got really quiet at night - and with a few too many unbecoming characters sitting around on the streets. Nothing outright wrong with that place, but Hotel Chateau Windsor cost just a bit more and addressed all of those weaknesses - it's in a really great location which is safer and more central.

I stayed at the Godwin with my wife and four friends for 3 nights. We had no complaints whatsoever about the hotel - the rooms were clean, breakfast filling and the roof-top facilities were a welcome haven in the evenings. When considering booking, it must be recognised that Mumbai is not a cheap Indian city and the cost of hotel accommodation is high when compared to most places with the possible exception of Delhi. Accordingly, the Godwin offered good facilites at a reasonable price and was handily located for relatively easy access to most of the worthwhile sights.

I had read differing reviews on this hotel but booked a seafront room for two nights on recommendation from a friend. So I felt a little apprehension on arriving at the property, which was soon dispelled on being shown our room on the top (5th) floor with an absolute breathtaking view over Marine Drive and the Arabian Sea. Apparently this hotel and it's neighbour Sea Green Hotel (different hotel but in same building) were built in the 1940's to accommodate English soldiers. The fixtures an fittings are not luxurious by any means but carry a certain quaint retro charm. The plumbing could do with an update as the shower was very low pressure. Likewise the breakfast served in the room was very basic. However on the plus side, as mentioned the view and location were just wonderful, the room was spacious and clean, the staff were delightful and went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Would absolutely recommend this hotel for it's seaview rooms and quirky character.

Was only informed when i had a friend with me that I would be charged additional headcount even though my room was booked for a King size which can accomodate 2 pax. I often wonder why there is a bag checking for all guests for everytime I returned to hotel, sometimes without any bag. It is pretty good location to South Mumbai but rather expensive for its stay.

the place looks exactly or bettter than the photos. its in a beautiful old building where the dining area is a cozy high ceiling area with cozy nooks to read in and books to borrow. the staff are friendly and quite helpful. we had arrived way too early in the morning before our check in time yet they offered us breakfast on the house that morning we arrived. wonderful hospitality. the rooms are beautiful with super comfortable beds. rooms are kept clean always. its a 5 minute walk from mumbai gate, cafe leopold and more. its pretty safe area and quite a charming part of mumbai with friendly people around. Loved our stay and missing mumbai now.

The hotel has been recently refurbished and it is stunning- great taste. And the sea view is amazing. The down side - that hopefully can be easily resolved is the personnel. The bell boys are just like hawks searching for tips and the night and sundays person in reception is rude and completely unhelpful. Also the breakfast, which can be served in the fantastic terrace is way too basic- a total shame. At night the restaurant is completely different- great food and atmosphere. Please, pray attention to the guests and it will be the perfect place!!!

we had booked a deluxe room, but even so, we weren't expeccting the marble floors in the bedroom and granite florr and counter in the bathroom. the room was very comfortable. the one drawback is that there is no window in the bedroom; only in the bathroom. the staff were very professional and accommodating. the best thing of all was the location. it was close to the hustle and bustle of markets and restaurants, but in a very quiet area. and just a short walk down the stand to the gateway to india and the taj hotel. the promised fridge worked well and kept our drinks cold.

It's close to shopping at Crawford Market and the huge market area north of Crawford Market and close to CST, Mumbai's main train station. I found the restaurant associated with the Hotel New Bengal to be excellent. Don't expect a 5 star, but for the non-fussy traveler in Mumbai from my experience you would be hard pressed to find a better deal.

Helpful and friendly staff, good room with fan and ac and the location is easy for taxi or tuctuc drivers to find which can be a god send after landing at the airport. Only downside is whilst the wifi was free(booked via agoda) the passwords only work for an hour which can be a bit labourious asking for a new code every time you come back to the hotel

We had a great stay at ELphinstone hotel. The room was small and didn't have a window, but it was spotlessly clean and had all the comfort we needed (and the fact that it didn't have a window meant we were less bothered by the loud traffic in the street). The best thing about this hotel is the service of it's staff. Mumbai was our first port of call in India and our flight in had been a bit of a nightmare. Our luggage had been lost on the way and would be delivered to us later. The hotel staff was incredibly helpful, calling the airport for us several times a day and pushing to get our luggage delivered to us before we left Mumbai, with success! The staff also helped us in booking train tickets and allowed us to use one of the rooms to freshen up before we boarded our train in the evening, even though we had checked out that morning. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Mumbai!

We arrived at about 9pm & Our first problem was the lack of wifi (there is none at all unlike advertised). as it was a last minute booking we'd been unable to print the hotel voucher, hoping to show them it online. This was an issue and the staff weren't very helpful! Once they'd found our booking we got shown to our room on the 5th floor by a gang of porters who were suddenly helpful once there was a chance of a tip! We decided we'd avoid the rickety elevator on the way down! The room was tiny but clean and the tv worked. The bathroom was clean and for a one night stay it was sufficient though cramped with our bags and us in the room. We decided to head out for a drink and tried to take the stairs... The stairway between two of the floors was being used as a store of sorts and was filled to the ceiling with mattresses making it impassable, this was the only way stairway down from the upper floors leaving just the rickety elevator and something of a fire hazard considering some floors had bars on the windows! We decided that we'd stay the night and look for somewhere else the next morning. Breakfast was just bread / jam and coffee so nothing to get excited about) The location is great for the strain station if you want to go north of CST and about a 30 min walk to The gate of India in the south. Our tip... For the same price YWCA was a much better stay.

REVIEW OF DELUXE SUITE - Very comfortable bed, huge room, beautiful big sunny windows, ocean/sunset view. For expensive Mumbai I doubt you will find better standards. We stayed in the suite as the original room we booked had only twin bed avail. Swift upgrade. Great hotwater, lots of seating (2 seperate couch areas), good breakfast of eggs of choice served in the room. The other rooms are small, but new refurbed and visually appealling. VERY CLEAN HOTEL. The staff are truely amazing, sincere and will go to any lengths. The facilities are limited, but the porter (lovely guy) happily acquired us any request with enthusiasm. We stayed 5 nights it was so great - thanks guys you all rock! Location is ++ walks along Marine Drive, restaurants galore and short taxi drive to all the tourist spots. This hotel out classes most 3 star hotels in Mumbai and the staff deserve full recogntion. Thanks so much to all of you on every shift. +* This hotel looks a bit shabby from the oustide, not the case!

Location-wise this is indeed strategically located near major attractions in the Colaba area but it is also located in a very crowded, probably unsafe area due to very narrow passageway clogged with merchandise and shoppers. The hotel itself is accessible thru a narrow alley that leads to an elevator as the hotel occupies the third floor of the building. If not for the very big signage outside that's lit up at night, it is easy to miss this in the morning as what the Ola cab I'm riding on did. Yes, it is affordable and satisfactory but with no other amenities except room service. The towels and sheets need replacing. Staff is very professional though. If you are on a very tight budget, travelling solo or just need a shut eye, this may appeal to you. For travel with spouse and family and for a relaxing holiday, I suggest to look around the block along the Taj Hotel as there are decent hotels there too.

Stayed in a lot of budget hotels in Colaba and I would have to say this is one of the best by far. I thought the room was clean and the staff was very good. The location is great as far as Mumbai goes. Walk to the gateway, Leopolds, etc.... all within 5 minutes. The room I stayed in was small, but it was clean so I don't care. Cleanliness trumps everything in India! Nice and helpful staff as well.

i was travelling solo to mubai and booked everest hotel in advance as mumbai is big city. i took all risk to book everest without any reviews. i actually enjoyed my stay here in everest alot. hotel is located in colaba and ab 10mins walk to gate of india. the location is very great as near markets, tourist spots and in colaba which is much much better than the airport area. the room is pretty good size for this budget price (as mumbai is pretty expensive compared to india lifecost). hotel is one of the floor of the old building. the owner made renovation ab few months ago. so room is still new and clean. the manager is a young boy of the owner which speaks good english and friendly. in generall, i enjoyed my stay here and felt safe.

As a solo female traveler, the time I arrived in Windsor Hotel I thought it was a huge mistake. The building is old and might need a good hand, and being my first time in India, I was very concerned about the looks of the street where it was located. But let me tell you, after a couple nights staying I couldn't have asked for a better place. Personal is super kind, and they really take care of their travelers (especially women), location couldn't be better (10 minutes walking from Victoria Terminal), and even at night there is people on the street, there are several business there, which makes it a safe zone. Breakfast (included) was good (had omelette, toast and a great chai), shower was in my 5 bed bedroom, and there were continental restrooms to share. Beds were not exactly soft, but considering I just stayed there for a good night's sleep every night, it was good for a pricey city like Mumbai. You get what you pay for, and as an extra get the helpful and nice people working there.

We did not have any problem with transportation because we were very close to Victoria Station for trains and buses , so we could move around all the city with no problem ; besides we walked to mayor attractions easily . Only thing bad was the breakfast they offer : very poor . I would come back again to this hotel.

Wankhede Stadium Mumbai is a popular stadium in Mumbai, which is the traditional cricket capital of India. It is renowned for various cricket matches, rich history and iconic moments. It holds a special place in the hearts of cricket enthusiasts worldwide. When the Bombay Cricket Association (now known as the Mumbai Cricket Association) recognised the need for a contemporary cricket stadium in Mumbai in the 1970s, Wankhede Stadium was first established. It was inaugurated in 1974, the stadium bears the name of renowned cricket administrator Sheshrao Wankhede. Wankhede Stadium has undergone many updates and modifications throughout the years to satisfy international standards while maintaining its historic history. It is one of the oldest stadiums in India.

If we talk about its seating capacity, it has approximately space for 33000 spectators. It prudes an unobstructed view of the playing field. It holds significance in the world of cricket. Wankhede Stadium Mumbai has been the venue for several high-profile international and domestic cricket matches. IPL 2024 Live Score, MI vs RCB Match Today: Royal Challengers Bengaluru started their innings vs Mumbai Indians on a dismal note. Asked to bat first by home side in match 25 of Tata IPL 2024, RCB were hoping for a solid start. Any side that has red-hot, in-form Virat Kohli as opener, this is not out of ordinary.

But alas, tonight was not the night for King Kohli. Pandya brought in Jasprit Bumrah early in the game and it worked wonders for MI. Bumrah removed Kohli for just 3 runs. The whole stadium that was filled with Kohli, Kohli chants fell silent. Rattled, RCB was trying to get back in the game when Akash Madhwal got Will Jacks for 8 runs. Jacks was just handed his IPL debut cap by Kohli just before the game. Since then, skipper Faf Du Plessis has taken up on himself to shore the team’s fortune and put a competitive total on the board. The third wicket partnership between him and Rajat Patidar was going strong. The third-wicket stand crossed 50 and Patidar slammed two consecutive sixes. Just when RCB thought that they had got the momentum, Coetzee, the bandana guy, got him at the third ball after those huge maximums. The biggest disappointment came from Glenn Maxwell . The Aussie star went back for duck.  

MI vs RCB: 5-wicket haul for Jasprit Bumrah

Faf Du Plessis grinded through his innings, but it was evident he was struggling. However, as Dinesh Karthik joined him, hopes rose for RCB to gain momentum towards the death overs. That’s when Pandya unleashed the magician – Jasprit Bumrah. The first ball fetched two runs, followed by a leg bye, and then a single. But then came the magic – Du Plessis dismissed on the fourth ball! Before anyone could catch their breath, Bumrah struck again on the very next delivery! Lomror sent packing with an LBW. The Wankhede, known as a batsman’s paradise, turned into a nightmare thanks to Bumrah! He claimed his fourth wicket by dismissing young Saurav Chauhan. Vyshak was the fifth victim. This marks the second instance in IPL 17 where a bowler has taken a 5-wicket haul.

MI vs RCB: Strong finish by Royal Challengers Bengaluru

If Faf Du Plessis carried RCB after powerplay shocks, it was Dinesh Karthik who lifted Bengaluru to a decent score of 196. His 52 off 22 balls helped RCB to put a total of 196 on the board.

There’s something called a powerful start, a solid start and then there’s something called a brutal carnage! Mumbai Openers – Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma – spared no RCB bowlers as they slammed big shots all over Wankhede. For the first wicket stand, Sharma and Kishan put together a century. This has put the hosts in a very comfortable position. Kishan slammed 69 off 34 balls. This knock included seven boundaries and five maximums. It was well after the 100-run partnership that RCB’s Akash Deep got the breakthrough wicket of Ishan Kishan. But this wasn’t enough to put pressure on MI.

Suryakumar Yadav kept up the tempo along with Rohit Sharma. SKY’s 50 off 17 deliveries made it very evident that MI were winning this and very comfortably at that. In the end, Pandya and Varma finished the job with 27 balls to spare.

Three wickets down and, MI need 14 runs from 33 balls. MI would want to finish as quickly as possible to improve their NRR.

Sunil Kumar Yadav has made a grand comeback! Achieving a half-century in just 17 balls, SKY demonstrates that he is unstoppable! Vyshak cuts short this fabulous innings as he picks up wicket number 3 for RCB. In his stellar innings, SKY smashed five boundaries and four sixes. 

Rohit Sharma departs for 38 thanks to some crazy catch by Topley. Hardik Pandya walks in. And surprise! The booing is a thing of the past. Looks like Wankhede has forgiven him! Suddenly, ‘Hardik, Hardik’ chants fill the stadium in the sea of blue. Pandya also greets the crowd with a massive maximum. RCB bowlers have been able to pick just one wicket with MI batters adding 45 runs to the chase.  

Kishan’s blistering innings of 69 runs from just 34 balls featured seven boundaries and five maximums. It wasn’t until well after the duo had established a 100-run partnership that RCB’s Akash Deep managed to break through and dismiss Ishan Kishan. However, the question remains: does this breakthrough provide enough momentum to put pressure on MI?

At a strike rate of 215.38, Ishan Kishan is punishing RCB bowlers and how! The young opener has slammed half-century off just 23 balls and there’s no stopping him.  

We have said it before, and we will say it again. RCB really, really need to work on their bowling unit. Despite a strong finish, the bowlers look helpless as Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma hammer them with those blazing shots. Faf Du Plessis has got Akash Deep, Reece Topley and Md Siraj. But this variation has not helped RCB at all! The first-wicket stand has already crossed 50 and powerplay is not over yet! 

Thanks to stellar knock by ultimate finisher Dinesh Karthik, RCB have managed to post a more than decent total on the board. Mumbai Indians have now got the target of 197.

Faf Du Plessis played a very laboured innings and it showed. But once DK joined him, it felt that RCB may finally get some momentum towards the death overs. This is when Pandya decided to call in the magician – Jasprit Bumrah . First ball gets two runs, second is a leg bye, third gets 1 run and then comes the magic – wicket of Du Plessis. Before anybody could settle, he got another wicket on the very next delivery! Lomror departs for LBW. The Wankhede pitch is supposed to be a batter’s paradise but Bumrah has unlocked a nightmare for them! He gets wicket number four in the form of young Saurav Chauhan. Vyshak was the fifth wicket. This is the second time in the IPL 17 that a bowler has got a 5-wicket haul. 

Captain Faf du Plessis showcases his leadership with a half-century, reaching the milestone in just 33 deliveries. He has slammed four boundaries and two maxiums so far.

History repeats itself ever so often but tonight was not that night. Maxwell returning to Wankhede must have thought a lot about his last outing – when he slammed 201 not out against Afghanistan during last year’s World Cup match. Maxwell gone cheaply, 0 to be precise! A very big wicket for Shreyas Gopal.  

Rajat Patidar came to strike when RCB were teetering after the cheap dismissal of Kohli. Not only did he provide critical support to skipper Faf Du Plessis but also slammed a blazing half-century in just 25 balls. His innings include 3 boundaries and four maximums. We saw Kohli also applauding those killer shots. After hitting two back-to-back sixes, Patidar went back to the dugout in similar manner like Kohli – caught behind by Kishan. Coetzee halts RCB’s momentum. Maxwell on strike. Can he finally get his mojo tonight 

The previous occasion when the legendary player graced this venue was while representing India , where he surpassed his idol and the esteemed figure with a statue in this stadium complex, Sachin Tendulkar . This memorable event occurred during the World Cup semi-final against New Zealand , marking Kohli’s last appearance here. His remarkable innings contributed to India’s total of 397/4, as he crafted a masterful 117 off 113 balls. This century was his 50th in One Day International cricket, surpassing Tendulkar’s record for the most centuries in this format and making him the first player to achieve 50 centuries in ODIs.

Just an hour back, Will Jacks received his IPL debut cap from Virat Kohli . An hour later, he joined Kohli in the dugout after being dismissed for just 8 runs. Reeling under the fantastic bowling attack of Jasprit Bumrah , Jacks showed some promise as he slammed two boundaries. But the hope for RCB was short-lived as Madhwal got him. Now Patidar has joined Faf.  

Mumbai Indians strike early as Jasprit Bumhrah gets rid of Virat Kohli . It was an easy catch for Ishan Kishan and RCB’s power play woes continued. Kohli made just 3 runs off 9 balls. Cheap dismissal of King Kohli will put pressure on Faf and other batters to get their act together. 

Wankhede is filled with Kohli, Kohli chants. It seems to be an easy start for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Both Kohli and Faf Du Plessis aren’t playing any risky shots. No flashy boundaries, our super sixes in sight. Perhaps the RCB stars are settling in.

Last time Maxwell was at Wankhede was when he played against Afghanistan during the 2023 ODI World Cup. He slammed 201 (not out). Seen as one the best innings ever, Maxwell changed the batting rules for ODI cricket. Tonight, when RCB walks in, the Aussie star would want to get his mojo back. We have not seen much of G in the KGF of RCB in IPL 17. Could tonight be the night when we get to see the best of Maxwell?

Following closely in second position is the rejuvenated Riyan Parag, accumulating 261 runs in five innings at a strike rate of 158.18 and an average of 87.00, with three half-centuries to his name. Occupying the third spot is GT captain Shubman Gill , who has also been impressive.

When the match commences in Mumbai, the temperature will hover at approximately 30 degrees Celsius. As the match progresses, it will gradually decrease to 28 degrees Celsius, yet the perceived temperature will remain at 31 degrees Celsius. Rain is not anticipated, although humidity levels may rise to as high as 75 percent. According to AccuWeather, the air quality will persist at an unhealthy level.

While  MI are placed in Group A along with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Rajasthan Royals (RR), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Delhi Capitals (DC). Chennai Super Kings (CSK) find themselves in Group B clubbed with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Gujarat Titans (GT), Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). With CSK not being the team they take on twice from the other group, they will not be meeting the other time at least in the league stage of IPL 2024. Definitely, gettable. But they bowled pretty well and Pathirana was the difference. They were smart with their plans and used the longer boundary well. They got the hang of it and they have a man behind the stumps telling them what's working. The ball was slightly gripping and they got ahead of the game. Until Pathirana came, we were on course for the total. It was just about what was best at that point. To seamers, it was more difficult to hit on this wicket. We are now on the road for the next four games. If we are smart, we can get the goal we want.
