What you'll do

Upon arrival of your cruise ship our guide will await with a SHORE2SHORE sign. We will depart from the port of Portland together with our guide headed to Stonehenge, north of Salisbury, England. The tour will take us approximately two hours.

Upon arrival at Stonehenge, we will feel like we have traveled back in time.

Isolated on an immense open and flat space, this wonder of the world is a spiritual place and a source of inspiration for all who visit it.

This unique megalithic monument was built in several stages. The first monument was built about 5000 years ago and the stone circle around it was built in the late Neolithic and early Bronze Age. Although it is not yet known with certainty who was responsible for placing these stones, there are those who attribute it to the druids, wizards and witches in the collective imagination who were actually philosophers and theologians with great prestige in ancient Gaul.

There are many theories about its purpose, a coronation place for Danish kings, a druid temple, an astronomical place to predict solar eclipses, a place where ancestors were worshiped or even a cult center for healing.

Today, the most widely accepted interpretation of Stonehenge is a prehistoric temple lined in such way to show the sunrise and sunset. Hence it has become a custom for people to gather here on every summer mornings solstice to watch the sunrise.

Our guide will take you around this enigmatic circle full of history declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and will tell you everything we know about it as you examine it closely.

After finishing the excursion, we will resume our journey back to the port of Portland for the farewell.

We had a fabulous time today at Stonehenge with our tour guide. We have hired many many tour guides in the previous four years. This guy was definitely among the very best. He was knowledgeable and very considerate of the needs of my traveling companions who have significant disabilities. I would recommend him to any friend traveling to Salisbury.

Why a Guided Tour outshines a Taxi ride!

stonehenge tours from portland uk

Exploring the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is no ordinary journey. So why opt for an ordinary taxi ride? Here’s why a guided tour truly outshines a simple taxi trip:

1. Knowledge is Power : Our guides are not just drivers; they’re storytellers, historians, and lovers of the coast. They provide rich, contextual information about the region’s 185 million years of history, ensuring you don’t just see the sights, but truly understand them.

2. Tailored Experiences : A taxi might take you from Point A to Point B, but our guided tours cater to your interests, making spontaneous stops at lesser-known gems, or lingering at spots that intrigue you the most.

3. Local Insights : Our guides have a wealth of local knowledge . Whether it’s a recommendation for the best seafood restaurant, a hidden beach, or an age-old legend associated with a landmark, you’ll gain insights only a local can provide.

4. Time-Saving : No need to navigate, research, or plan. Our guides have the entire tour streamlined, ensuring you see the best in the time you have, without the guesswork.

5. Safety and Comfort : Our priority is your well-being. With a knowledgeable guide, you’re in safe hands, ensuring you stick to safe paths and avoid any potential hazards of the coast.

Ditch the generic taxi ride. Choose a journey where every moment is crafted for discovery , wonder, and memory-making. Dive deep into the Jurassic Coast’s wonders with a guided tour!

Why book a small group tour?

stonehenge tours from portland uk

Smaller groups, Its Cheaper & You See More! Cruise ship excursions come with a premium price tag and they tend to follow a one-size-fits-all approach. We offer competitive cheaper prices tailored to smaller groups, providing excellent value for money with a more personalized experience!

Make the most of it! Our local knowledgeable guides, well-versed in the region’s history and culture, can provide in-depth insights, creating a richer and more immersive journey. So, embark on a journey of discovery and let us guide you through the wonders of the Jurassic Coast.

They guy who delivered the bikes had some good knowledge of the local area and suggested some good routes. We would have surely missed these sites without this advice. Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

  • Every day each car in  Moscow metro passes  more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
  • Moscow subway system is the  5th in the intensity  of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).
