There are also tamer choices for smaller children, plus a variety of food and snack options.

Splish Splash! — Children’s books about water

Discover 17 refreshing summer reads about water, the beach and swimming recommended by the brighter readers book crew.

About 71% of the Earth’s surface is water-covered. And the oceans hold about 96.5% of all of that water. Water exists in rivers and lakes, in icecaps and glaciers. In the air as water vapor and in the ground as soil moisture. And even in you and your parents, grandparents and pets. Water is everywhere!

Because water is so important to life, this reading list is 100% about water! We asked members of our Brighter Readers Book Crew to share their favorite children’s books about water. Check our list out and share your favorite reads about H2O with us in the comments. Make sure to check out the science activities and conversation prompts after reading these great books too!

Kirsten Eamon-Shine has a six-year-old son and way too many children’s books at her house. She also directs Early Learning Indiana ’s communications. This is her pick:

Jabari Jumps

Jabari Jumps Gaia Cornwall, author and illustrator Best for: three-year-olds, four-year-olds, five-year-olds, school age, read along with preschool and pre-k learners

“‘Jabari Jumps’ shares the sweet story of one little boy’s brave effort to try out the diving board. After completing his swimming lessons and with support from his father and sister, he’s ready to walk on the high board and make a big splash. I adore this book, for the way it helps little ones think about challenges, models supportive family connections, and sets the stage for the importance of being prepared for big milestones.”

After you read: Ask, “What is something you were scared of before that you are not scared of anymore?” and, “what helped you feel less scared?”

CJ Woods, III , is a retired creative director and currently a writer/columnist for The Weekly View community newspaper in Indianapolis. He’s also the father of two girls and one boy — and grandfather of two girls and one boy. He’s been a joyful reader to them all. This is his pick:

Little Fish book cover

Little Fish, Finger Puppet Book by Chronicle Books and ImageBooks Best for: infants, one-year-olds, two-year-olds

“Little Fish keeps my 13-month-old granddaughter engaged as an interactive event. The finger puppet animates the story, and she stays involved in the process of listening to the reading of the words.”

After you read: Splash together! When your baby is in the bathtub after dinner, let them kick their feet in the water to see how big a splash they can make. Your baby is discovering cause and effect — and even though it’s sometimes a messy process, it’s an essential part of their scientific growth!

Beth Byam is a part-time bookseller at Kids Ink and pre-school assistant at St. Joan of Arc. She’s also an enthusiastic reader and mother of two children.

Seashells by the Seashore

Sea Shells by the Sea Shore by Marianne Berkes, author and Robert Noreika, illustrator Best for: read to or along with pre-school and pre-K

Counting from one to 12, Sue picks up shells — periwinkle, kittens paw, scallop — and carefully adds them to her bucket as a gift for Grandma. She and her friend identify the shells. Then, when they discover one that still has the mollusk living inside they put it back in the water, learning that shells are actually the (usually) abandoned homes of sea animals.

“With beautiful artwork, this simple counting book identifies different shells found on beaches.”

After you read: Ask, “ Would you have put the shell with the mollusk back? ” and “ Why do you think it’s important to be kind to other creatures? ”

Spot Goes to the Beach by Eric Hill, author and illustrator Best for: two-year-olds, t hree-year-olds , four-year-olds, five-year-olds

It’s a sunny day at the beach, and Spot is ready to have some fun and make new friends. Spot loves building sandcastles, but this time he decides to try something new: surfing! Spend a day at the beach along with Spot, his parents and his new friends!

“Bright clear graphics take toddlers to the beach with Spot. Perfect amount of text for toddlers.”

After you read: Play sink or float! Send your kid to collect various items throughout the house. Help them by suggesting items you know will either sink or float. Then, fill a container or the sink with water and ask your little one to predict if the items will sink or float. Ask them, “ What makes things sink? ” and “ Why do some items float? ”

Orange Fish, Green Fish book cover

Orange Fish, Green Fish by Linda Kranz, author and illustrator Best for: infants, one-year-olds, two-year-olds, three-year-olds, preschool and pre-K learners

After you read: Go animal watching. Who are the animals living in your neighborhood? Find out with your little learner how many kinds of birds like to spend time in your neighborhood. Do you see any squirrels? Are there any cats that come visit your house? Give them names and then say hi to your neighborhood critters every time you see them.

The situation continues to escalate to the point of swallowing the entire sea. The illustrations give readers an inside look to the old lady’s dinner!

After you read: Have your little one practice fitting things into jars. Find jars of different sizes and practice fitting small, medium and large objects into the jars. Use math words like big and small or more and less. “Let’s add more cotton balls to this little jar,” or “The wooden blocks are too big to fit in the medium jar.”

Little Whale book cover

Little Whale by Jo Weaver, author and illustrator Best for: pre-school and pre-K learners, school age kids

At long last, the echo of a whale song calls to them through icy water and they know . . . they are home. With gentle text and stunning monochromatic illustrations, Jo Weaver reveals the wonder of nature, the excitement of discovery, and the strength of parental love.

“With and emphasis on family and belonging, this book tells the story of a young whale and her mother returning to their family.”

After you read: Ask, “Can you think of a time you felt like you missed home?” and “Why do you think it was important for Gray Whale to guide Little Whale home?”

Swim & Water Safety for Little Learners — Water play is a great way to cool off and spark learning and fun for your little fish. But it also comes with some serious safety risks

Water has the power to change everything — a single splash can sprout a seed, quench a thirst, provide a habitat, generate energy and sustain life. How we treat the water in the well will affect every species on the planet, now and for years to come. One Well shows how every one of us has the power to conserve and protect our global well.

One Well is part of CitizenKid: A collection of books that inform children about the world and inspire them to be better global citizens.

“This colorful book does a great job of explaining the water cycle and why water is so crucial to people all around the world.”

Essay on “a summer day at water park” for students and children, best essay, paragraph, speech for class 7, 8, 9, 10.

A Summer Day at Water Park

Summer vacations are the favourite time of the year for every child. As soon as my final examinations got over, I bid goodbye to long hours of homework and studies. I decided to venture into the world of adventure. Since long I had desire to visit an Aqua Park. I am too small to travel alone, thus, I requested my parents to arrange a trip to the park.

Daddy made all the arrangements and planned for the trip. As per the size of the group, various tickets and package options were available. My daddy chose one and booked tickets for us. I knew that my summer vacations were welcomed by the magical land of Aqua Park to indulge in some of the coolest aqua fun. I was about to experience an unforgettable summer day.

By 11 a.m., we reached the park. I was very thrilled to enjoy different rides. I started exploring rides and other attractions. Every ride was specially designed to make us forget about outside world for a while. In all, there were 20 themed rides. There was rollercoaster ride that went round 360 degrees. It made the rider’s heart beat faster.

The Gold Rush express took us through the world of old American West landscape. This ride sent us ravines, ranches, parlours and saloons with cowboys and pistol training. One could also enjoy Stimulated Aircraft ride. It took its ride over different sights and attractions across India.

Some of the must visit rides were Loopy Whoopy, Screamer, Zip Zap Zoom, Aqua Tube, Aqua Funnel and Twisty Turvy. In Twisty Turvy, a coaster dropped and curved blasting the riders to uphill on water jets, launching them into the super bowl with force, keeping them high on the wall for several turns before ending through a surrounded flume into a splashdown pool. Screamer was one of my favourite rides. It was a ride featuring ‘rattles’ that changed shape in alignment with the different lengths of cylinders allowing riders to experience completely different sensations since each rattle was longer than the last.

I even enjoyed in Zip Zap Zoom, which had a six-lane, high-speed mat racer that sent riders through walled looping tubes. We challenged each other and raced down together through the enclosed fume section. Loopy Whoopy was a ride that comprised a launch capsule that was controlled by a trap door, leading to a steep, near-upright door sliding into an inclined loop.

Nothing could have beaten the summer heat like a thrilling day at a water park. However, we had to make sure that we carried our favourite piece of swimmer. The water park promised a delightful day filled with excitement and laughter. It made an unforgettable summer experience for me that I took back to school.

10 Essentials Tips for the Water Park with Kids

Travel · Virginia

This post includes affiliate links or sponsored content.  Read our full Disclosure here .

A trip to the water park with kids doesn’t have to end with meltdowns or sunburns. Whether it’s your first trip to a water park with kids or you had a bad experience with kids at a water park, we’ve got tips and tricks, inspired by our recent trip to Massanutten Waterpark, to share with you so you can make the most of your family trip to the water park.

A trip to the water park with kids is an amazing family activity. It can be overwhelming when you start to think about all the details. How should you prepare for a trip to the water park? What should you wear to a water park? What should you bring with you to a water park? Our 10 essentials for water parks with kids will make your next visit as peaceful as the lazy river.

kids at water park

choosing a water park with kids

One of our favorite water parks is the Massanutten Waterpark in Virginia. Massanutten Resort offers family adventures in all four seasons and the Waterpark is no exception. The Massanutten Waterpark offers something for everything with indoor and outdoor attractions.

We were invited to experience the new updates to the Massanutten Waterpark, which we already thought was amazing, so we packed our suits and headed to Massanutten Resort. We were hosted at Massanutten Resort so we could share our experiences with you, but the views and opinions expressed in this post are purely ours.

Just in time for summer, Massanutten Waterpark has added 3 new outdoor tube slides: Peak Plunge, Valley Vortex and our new favorite ⎼ MASS Mayhem. When you’re picking a water park consider inclement weather. There is nothing you can do to change the weather, but you can be prepared. Massanutten Waterpark has plenty of fun indoors for year round fun.

kids at water park

1. plan your day

Planning your trip to the water park so you can avoid the peak times is the easiest way to ensure an amazing trip. It is usually best to arrive early. Some water parks also have afternoon admissions that can be less busy. So plan ahead, go on a weekday or visit during off peak travel times.

Avoiding crowds is great, but don’t forget to account for your children’s schedules. If your kids are late sleepers who enjoy a lazy morning, then do not plan to get to the water park with your kids at opening. If your kids are still napping, you can opt for a half day pass when available. Be strategic when planning out your day.

Once you know when you’re going, you can plan the rest of your visit. Massanutten Waterpark is about 2 hours away from us. We could drive there just for the Waterpark, but that’s a really long day for us, so we prefer to do an overnight so we can get to the Waterpark rested and ready for Adventure.

Like the Massanutten Waterpark, many water parks have other attractions attached, or nearby. If you have the time and budget to do an overnight you can maximize your family adventure time. Find out more about our other Massanutten family adventures here .

Many people skip this last step in the planning process – preview the requirements – but we never skip it because kids can thrive when the expectations are clear. Most attractions have height, weight or age requirements which we figure out before we arrive. Knowing which attractions your kids are able to ride will make the day more enjoyable and avoid standing in long lines for nothing. It also gives you an idea what part of the park you anticipate spending most of your time so you can plan where to rest.

We also show our kids any pictures, maps or videos that will give them a better idea of what to expect. This is especially useful on your first trip to a new water park or with young children who may not be able to conceptualize a water slide or a wave pool.

2. scope it out

Once we arrive at the water park we like to grab some chairs to put our towels and clothes. One of the things we love about the Massanutten Waterpark is how many chairs there are in the shade as well as indoors.

Then we walk around and look at the different attractions. Everyone picks one thing they are most excited about and we make a plan so no one leaves feeling like they didn’t get to do what they were most excited about.

The Massanutten Waterpark just added 3 new outdoor tube slides so our walk around let us strategize which ones to try first and reminded us of our favorites from our last visit. The scope out walk is also a great way to hype up something your kids may feel unsure about. Watching the smiling happy children’s faces get off the MASS Mayhem definitely inspired our confidence.

As we walk we also see where the bathrooms are and what food is available so when we need them we know where to go.

3. Have a meeting place

More safety tips to follow, but making a plan for where to meet if anyone gets separated is important to do first thing. We like to meet at the chairs where we put our stuff, so as we walk around to scope things out we talk about what landmarks will get us back to our chairs.

We always pick a meeting place for the end of rides too. Sometimes our kids ride alone and sometimes with us, but they always know where to go and what to do at the bottom in the rare event that they beat us to the end.

Our meeting spot is a great place to meet us and reapply sunscreen, sit in the shade for a minute and get some water.

kids at water park

4. Pace yourself

The Massanutten Waterpark has plenty of fun for all ages so when we first visited, one of us spent almost the whole time in the Splash-A-Nutten Activity Pool & Kiddie Area outside and Frog Pond indoor. We love that there are areas for the littlest adventurers. If you can find a spot to hang out with your littlest, it can be a great meet up spot for the older kids.

The White Cap Wave Pool was one of our favorite meet up spots on our recent trip to Massanutten Waterpark. The lines for some slides can be pretty long and having a cool spot to hang out and wait to regroup makes it more fun for everyone.

When it comes to bathroom runs, water breaks and sunscreen pit stops, it can be tiring if one parent is doing it all. We have established a good nonverbal communication over the years for needing a break or wanting to switch. It never hurts to check in and see how our partner is feeling because let’s be real taking kids (especially young kids) to a water park can be exhausting if you don’t pace yourself.

5. sun protection

I lovingly refer to our skin type as translucent. We are fair skinned and burn easily so we take sun protections seriously. In an attempt to reduce how often we have to apply sunscreen , we use hats , sunglasses and long sleeve swimsuits to protect our skin.

We make sure to lather up with excellent coverage before entering the water park so we aren’t all hot and sweaty when doing the initial application.

While at the water park, we build in sunscreen reapplication stops. We reapply when we use the bathroom, get water or eat. The sunscreen sticks are excellent for independence and allow the kids to do more of their own application.

The inner tubes are also great for making shade while you wait in line.

6. FUEL YOUR ADVENTURE

The food lines at water parks can get really long at lunch or dinner time. You know when your kids are most hungry, for us it’s constantly (ha! but seriously). We usually load up on healthy snacks before we go in and have an early lunch or snack to beat the long lines at concessions.

It doesn’t matter when you eat, just make sure you anticipate the hangries (hungry+angry=hangry kids).

Water parks aren’t usually known for their amazing food selections, so if you have picky eaters it is worth it to check the food options before you go. When it comes down to it, we often use the prospect of a cool sweet treat, like ice cream, after our day at the water park to incentivise eating something.

kids at water park

Being surrounded by water it can sometimes be hard to remember to hydrate. Drinking plenty of water is important year round because all the swimming and walking you’re doing. We love bringing our water bottles so our water stays cool and we can avoid the hot plastic bottles.

We are a water loving gang here, but if you need some help getting your kids to drink water try some fresh fruit in your water bottle or make it a game where the kids have to drink every time they hear the ‘magic’ word.

8. less is more

If you’ve been around a while you know we prefer to pack light and take great care when choosing our gear so it lasts. It can be tempting to bring all the stuff to the water park, but with all the walking involved we have found it’s best to bring the minimum.

It is different for all families, but our essentials are GoPro camera , water bottles , sunscreen , towels , rubber slippers and goggles . We leave the rest at home. Be sure to check with the water park you are visiting to see if there are complementary towel and life jackets. If not, be sure to bring what you need.

We don’t usually wear water shoes at the water park, but just because our kids are not keen on them. If your kids are used to wearing them don’t forget them. The key is to bring as few items as possible, but ensure your child’s comfortable.

kids at water park

9. lock up your valuables

Most water parks offer lockers and we always get one. The lockers are located near some bathrooms and changing areas at Massanutten Waterpark which makes the end of the day easy. We lock up all our valuables and electronics, but take our GoPro with us. It is always nice to have dry clothes after the water park, especially if you have a long drive home so we also leave a change of clothes or anything we want to be dry in the locker.

Having a locker means we only have our bag with us. Our water bottles , sunscreen , towels , rubber slippers and goggles can sit on the chair without us worrying. We would rather play all day without worrying about our phones and cameras getting wet.

10. safety first

As with all family adventures, safety is the first priority . When we do safety first we have more opportunities for fun! We like the water park safety tips from the American Academy of Pediatrics as a starting point and more water park safety tips from The Global Association for the Attractions Industry .

Most water parks have lifeguards for the pools and at the attractions. We have been impressed by the lifeguards at Massanutten Waterpark. They have always been attentive, alert and proactive in our experiences.

It can be tempting to bend the rules or ignore the safety signs posted at water parks, but children are especially vulnerable to injuries at water parks when safety precautions are circumvented. Your child’s tantrum over not being able to enjoy an attraction is not worth the risks of injury.

As a former lifeguard and swim instructor, I have a friendly reminder that water parks are exhausting for kids so plan in lots of breaks, shade and water. We also know our children better than anyone so just because they meet the minimum height, weight or age requirements doesn’t mean they are ready for it. Above all else, trust your judgement .

Thanks for your tip about scoping out a water park before deciding to go there. It should really help us find out all the fun spots to go to and where we may find ourselves having to go to every so often for snacks and the like. It should also give me a nice opportunity to see if they use water slide Gelcoat, from what I’ve heard that’s a good material to have on your slides as it makes them smoother and safer to use for kids. Thanks for your tips, my kids have been looking forward to going to the waterpark ever since the pandemic started and it seems we may have a chance to go out soon. I’ll just make sure they’re as safe as can be while enjoying themselves though.

Short Essay on A Visit to a Park in 100 Words

All of us need some sort of entertainment in our lives. We tend to visit several places to spend some quality time with our parents and family. Visiting a park is one of the most fantastic attractions in all of them. I recently saw a water park in Kolkata to boost myself up after long-drawn pandemic jeopardy. Visiting there with my friends was an additional reward.

We enjoyed each other’s company, laughed, played, and hyped the energy. It was such a bliss to be out in the open sun. Everywhere there was mirth and playfulness. I felt how even a small excuse of visiting a park can bring together so many people. The visit appeared to be more like an unbridled and happy social meeting.

Short Essay on a Visit to a Park in 200 Words

Entertainment is a mode to unleash all our suppressed passions and desires and enjoy a short moment of life with fun and happiness. For that visiting parks, places of heritage, zoos, museums, or having a simple picnic can be those several ways to enjoy our vacations and pass times. For me visiting a water park is great bliss.

Recently I and my friends went to a nearby water park in Kolkata that is well known for its water slides, fun, games, and also the ambience of happiness. We readily agreed to visit the park and make the day memorable. Reaching there we bought ourselves tickets and took some costumes to enjoy the water slides. We felt both excited and terrified viewing the giant rollercoaster and the ups and downs of the ride. Yet gathering all our courage we went on.

We got into it consecutively and as soon as the ride started we felt the greatest enjoyment of our lives. Each and every ride was wonderful, especially the water slip and the pool rides. In fact, the park also accommodated some really cool cocktail outlets and a platform to enjoy the music going on. The entire environment was one of mirth. After losing time in the pandemic, the water park visit became a fruitful experience get-together, as many friends came together who would have otherwise been disconnected for a while.

Short Essay on a Visit to a Park in 400 Words

Taking any journey with people we love is always a rewarding experience. Whenever we find ourselves in a pensive mood, we feel desperate to attend a place of fun and excitement. Visiting a park, be it any local ground or an exclusive park with sophisticated rides and slips, strolling at parks is always a great exercise for the mind and body. It releases all our clogged emotions and makes the mind as free and wide as a huge green field. Visiting parks has often been a medicative remedy.

Many old people along with kids practice visiting to park in the morning and dusk. It enables them to maintain a healthy body and mind and feel carefree. Similarly for me visiting a park has also a great purpose. Recently I went to a famous water park in Kolkata, that is quite renowned for its water rides.

The park also has a separate underground base station for dance and music, where young people can spend their quality time. The entire park is well decorated with cartoons and animals, which in turn become viable for little kids. The park’s beauty attracts lots of visitors every summer. Also, the cocktail outlets lying adjacent to the water park add up to its beauty.

Recently, I got a wonderful opportunity to get together with my high school friends and spent a great time with them in that water park, I hardly could have denied such an option and readily agreed. It was also a moment of nostalgia since these friends live far away without that old bonding. We arrived as one of our friends has already got our tickets. We opted for the rollercoaster ride, although it rose great fear and excitement in us. It was as majestic as it was fearful.

Once into it, we realized how beautiful the company was. We were thrilled with joy and enjoyed all the water rides with extreme fun. The summer heat no longer felt tormenting us as the mirth filled the air. After completing the rides we changed our dresses and quickly visited the dance p[platform. We enjoyed each other’s company and forgot the passage of time. Happiness, like bubbles, brewed up till we returned back and parted our ways.

Visiting a water park that day was not any show of our sophisticated taste. But it was god’s grace that all our long-lost friends got reunited. Those lost memories were once again relived and cherished as if it was anew. I still can feel the happiness of that day and will never forget this wonderful memory.

Where to stay nearby, the best time to visit.

Visiting Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, is almost a right of passage for families with kids. While the four major theme parks are the biggest draw of the resort, there are also two water parks that lure in guests with the promise of cool water, fewer crowds, and a lot of fun. Situated on opposite ends of Disney World, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Disney’s Blizzard Beach water parks invite guests to splash and play all day as a family before packing up and heading back to a nearby resort for a relaxing evening.

Editors' Note: As of November 2022, Typhoon Lagoon is closed for refurbishment; reopening dates have not yet been announced.

Water Park Themes and Backstory

The first of the two water parks to open was Typhoon Lagoon, which first welcomed travelers in 1989. The theme of the park is centered around an invented Disney legend that claims a rogue storm and tidal wave came through what was once a pristine paradise, leaving behind a ready-made water park. At the top of Mount Mayday—Typhoon Lagoon's "volcano," which erupts water every 30 minutes—is a stranded shrimping boat named “Miss Tilly," adding to the park's controlled chaos.

When Blizzard Beach Water Park opened in 1995, guests were invited into a water park like no other. With a ski lift and white “snow hills,” the park’s backstory of being Florida’s first ski resort that’s melting due to the heat of the Sunshine State truly comes to life. The park even has its own original character, Ice Gator, the savvy entrepreneur who cashed in on all the snow to create the ski resort-turned-water park.

Price for Admission

Tickets for both water parks can be purchased in advance of a trip to Disney World or bought on the day of your visit at either park’s front entrance. A single-day water park ticket for guests is currently $69 for those 10 and older, and $63 for those ages 3 to 9. You can save a few bucks if you buy a ticket that has blackout dates; a one-day ticket with blackout dates starts at $64 for visitors over 10 and $58 for children ages 3 to 9.

Disney World annual pass holders get a decent discount on water park tickets, too. Tickets for those 10 and older are $49, and children from 3 to 9 can get in for $43. You will need to show a valid annual pass to get this price.

Annual pass holders can also add water park admission to their yearly pass with the Water Park and Sports Option , which is $99 per year. The add-on includes admission to both water parks as many times as you wish to enter. It also includes entry to two Disney golf courses, both mini-golf courses, and the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. The add-on may be good if you’re planning to visit the water parks at least twice during the year, as opposed to buying individual tickets. Blackout dates do not apply.

If you’re staying at a Disney-owned hotel , you can take one of the complimentary Disney buses to both water parks, but be aware that it takes a while. To get to Typhoon Lagoon, there's a bus that will take you to Disney Springs, where you'll find a connecting bus headed to the water park. To reach Blizzard Beach, hop on the bus bound for Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park ; from there, you can transfer to the Blizzard Beach bus. On occasion, there are direct buses from resorts, but that is usually during very busy times of the year like Memorial Day weekend, 4th of July, and Labor Day weekend.

You can also use Disney’s Minnie Van service, which is a rideshare service run through the Lyft app. Minnie Vans are an extra cost, but offer direct service to the water parks. This may be a better option for those who don’t like waiting for buses or want to save a lot of time. If you have a personal vehicle, you can also drive to the water parks; parking is complimentary.

Rides and Attractions

While the lazy river and the wave pool at both parks are essentially the same, the other offerings are not. Upon entering Blizzard Beach, guests will spot a colorful chairlift that can take them to the top of Mount Gushmore. Once at the top, guests can get in line for Summit Plummet, the 12-story body slide where you’ll reach speeds of up to 60 miles per hour. For something a little tamer, consider Slush Gusher, a 90-foot slide that takes you over two rolling hills.

Younger kids will enjoy Tike’s Peak, a dedicated splash area for preschoolers. This area of the park recently got some playful additions based on the popular Disney movie, "Frozen." Little ones can swim with statuettes of Olaf and the Snowgies in a wading pool, or play with pop-up water jets in Anna and Elsa's igloo.

Across Disney World at Typhoon Lagoon, the rides and attractions feature more couple and family rafts as opposed to slides. One of the most thrilling raft rides at the water park is Crush ’n’ Gusher. The two-person water coaster has three slide options—the Pineapple Plunger, Coconut Crusher, and Banana Blaster—each of which takes you over and under the other slides before ending in Hideaway Bay. Just past Crush ’n’ Gusher is Miss Adventure Falls, which is a family raft ride that spins through tunnels and around tight corners as water splashes you from all angles. Also at the water park is Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool, the largest wave pool in North America.

Ketchakiddee Creek is the dedicated water play area for preschool-aged kids at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon. Here, children can play among cute crocodiles, seals, and elephants; slide down miniature water slides; or explore a cave with a waterfall.

Food and Drinks

Unlike the sprawling theme parks, which have plenty of dining options, Disney's water parks only have quick-service restaurants. The main restaurant at Blizzard Beach is Lottawatta Lodge, which serves basic fare like salads, burgers, and flatbreads. At the Warming Hut, the menu is small but mighty, with enticing dishes like shrimp lettuce wraps and nachos loaded with Walt Disney’s favorite chili recipe.

Over at Typhoon Lagoon, Leaning Palms is the hot spot for lunch, offering a wide variety of options including rice bowls, burgers, chicken sandwiches, and salads. If you’re looking for seafood at the park, head to Typhoon Tilly’s, which has fried fish baskets, shrimp lettuce wraps, and fish tacos.

Both water parks have several bars where you can grab a refreshing beer or cold cocktail. A fan favorite at Disney’s Blizzard Beach is the Polar Pub, which overlooks the wave pool. One of the signature drinks on the menu is the Banana Cabana, which is a mix of two different rums, crème de banana, orange juice, pineapple juice, and a float of grenadine. At Typhoon Lagoon, Let’s Go Slurpin’ is the bar of choice for many guests. Here you can get everything from a classic mai tai to frozen strawberry daiquiris.

Reserved Seating and Cabañas

One of the worst parts about water parks is having to get to the park early in the day to fight for seating next to a favorite ride or near the best bar. So you don't waste time seeking out the perfect chair, both of Disney’s water parks offer reserved seating.

At Blizzard Beach, you can rent Polar Patios, which are covered cabañas that come with seating for up to six guests. The cabaña includes towel service, a locker for valuables, complimentary water, refillable mugs, and a dedicated attendant who can bring you lunch or drinks, as well as more towels. The regular price per day is $225, though the price does increase to $375 per day during peak season from March 27 through September 10, 2023.

If you have a larger family, there are premium Polar Patios that can accommodate up to 10 people and come with the same amenities as the smaller cabaña rentals. The regular price per day for the larger cabañas is $350 per day, and peak prices from March 27 through September 10, 2023, are $475.

Those with a smaller family, or a smaller budget, may find the Lodge Umbrellas a better rental option. With this, you get access to one beach umbrella, two lounge chairs, two sand chairs, and four towels. The price per day starts at $40.

Over at Typhoon Lagoon, cabañas are called Beachcomber Shacks. The standard shack can accommodate up to 10 guests, and the price starts at $225 per day. With this option, guests are privy to a dedicated cabaña for them to use throughout the day, attendant service, cushioned furniture, souvenir refillable mugs, an in-cabana locker, towel service, and cold water available all day. During peak season from March 27 through September 10, 2023, the price goes up to $340.

Beachcomber Shacks Deluxe can accommodate larger parties of up to 12 guests, and feature all of the same amenities as standard cabañas with added umbrella space. The cost is $299 for non-peak times and $429 for peak season. If you want the top-level Beachcomber Shack, consider the Premium Plus option, which has room for 10 people. In addition to the same base amenities, it comes with an added dining table, mini fridge, flatscreen TV, oscillating fan, and four electrical outlets. The starting price is $300 and goes to $450 during peak season.

A more economical option that gives you a dedicated space and chairs is the Typhoon Lagoon Umbrellas, which includes one large beach umbrella, two lounge chairs, two sand chairs, and four towels. This rental starts at $40 per day.

Courtney Kiefer / Disney

At Typhoon Lagoon, guests are invited to take part in H2O Glow After Hours . The event takes place on select nights, typically over the summer, although the 2023 dates have not been announced as of writing. During the event, guests are able to get on most of the rides and attractions throughout the park, dance on the beaches of Typhoon Lagoon, and indulge in specialty snacks that are only available during the three-hour-long glow party.

Finding the perfect place to stay while visiting Disney World is part of the fun of the trip. Around both water parks, there are plenty of options.

  • Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort : This hotel is perfectly situated just a few minutes from Blizzard Beach. It offers one of the best views of Disney World from its rooftop bar, Dahlia Lounge, and has a fantastic outdoor dining venue: Three Bridges Bar and Grill.
  • Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside : If you’re looking for a hotel close to Typhoon Lagoon, consider Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside. The Louisiana-themed resort is known for its Royal Guest Rooms, which feature nods to the Disney princesses. It's just a short walk to Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter, or a leisurely boat ride to Disney Springs.
  • Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort : For the ultimate in luxury, stay at the Four Seasons, located right on Disney World property near Magic Kingdom . The resort has multiple restaurants, a full-service spa, its own water park, and incredible views of the nightly fireworks from the theme parks.

While there’s no bad time to visit a Disney water park, there are times that are better than others. The best time to visit is before or after the peak season, which this year runs from March 27 through September 10, 2023. Weekends are typically busier than weekends, and early mornings when the parks first open are better for finding free seats.

Big Trend No. 1 in Waterpark Industry Growth: Municipal-owned Waterparks

What's the other big trend within the waterpark industry? The growing number of city-owned/municipality-owned parks. While most major markets are set with a mega waterpark, most cities still have plenty of room for public venues! They don't compete with their big brothers because they "wet" the appetite of families for bigger, more thrilling rides.

Big Trend No. 2 in Waterpark Industry Growth: Indoor Waterpark Resorts

What's the biggest trend within the waterpark industry? One of the two top segments of waterpark-industry growth is that of the indoor waterpark hotel. These resorts help keep hotel rooms filled when business travelers head for home while also offering families a quick getaway for some fun they can share together.

Cooling off at a Waterpark This Summer

Take a break from the heat this summer by visiting one of the numerous and exciting waterparks found all over the United States. From small, city-owned waterparks to mega-sized monster parks with thrilling speed slides, giant wave pools and leisurely river rides, you'll be sure to have some wet, exciting fun!

Safety in the water: National Water Safety Month Informs Consumers

Want to stay safe in the water? You've got to know how! WWA sponsors National Water Safety Month in May. WWA member parks participate in this annual event by sponsoring safety fairs, training and other activities. This is only one way WWA members work to make sure their guests stay safe in the water, whether at the park or any other water venue.

Where did the waterpark come from?

Who created the first waterpark? While some may good-naturedly argue who had the first park, nearly everyone agrees who the true "Father of the Waterpark" is: George Millay. Founder of Sea World and the first Wet 'n Wild Waterpark in Orlando, Millay lead a colorful life that impacted nearly everyone who works in the waterpark industry--not to mention thousands of gleeful and giggling children and adults!

What are the Hottest Rides?

Haven't been to a waterpark in a while? You may be surprised by all the exciting rides you'll find there! Speed slides that are several stories high! Water coasters that slosh riders at high speeds! Wave pools with cresting mountains of water! Even surfing pools where a continuous wave creates the perfect opportunity to Hang 10!

Waterparks: The Perfect Summer Job!

Teens who are looking for a summer job that allows them to enjoy the outdoors and feel a sense of importance in helping others should look no further than working at a waterpark. From lifeguarding to concessions to maintenance, waterparks offer teens many opportunities to gain experience in determining their career paths.

Big Action Behind the Scenes: Getting Ready for the Summer Season

What goes on at a waterpark before the season opens each summer? It's a whirlwind of activity! From repainting the wave pool after the long winter season to waxing slides and trimming all that lush landscaping, waterpark staffs are hard at work long before guests start to come through the turnstiles on opening day!

The Best Water Parks To Visit Across The US

F amilies, thrill seekers, theme park enthusiasts, and those just looking to cool down with friends on a hot summer day are all drawn to the wonderous aquatic adventure of America's water parks. Few places feed our inner child more than the splash zone at the bottom of a fast-diving slope.

From coast to coast and beyond, the water parks across the U.S. are bountiful, and though it might be easy to make the mistake of believing all water parks are practically identical, you'll find that's simply untrue. Every park on this list comes with a theme, a gimmick, a unique twist, or a collection of crazy rides that makes it worth visiting.

So, whether you're hopping in your car to drive cross-country, boarding that plane to your favorite state, or whimsically planning an imaginary vacation, taking a look at the best water parks to visit across the U.S. might show you an adventure you don't want to miss out on.

Wisconsin Dells, WI

The first on our list of best water parks to visit in the United States isn't a water park in itself. Instead, Wisconsin Dells is a city not too far from Madison, Wisconsin, and it's packed to the brim with water parks. Known as "The Waterpark Capital of the World!" you'll find more water parks per person in the Dells than anywhere else on the planet — over 20, to be exact. There's truly something for every aquatic aficionado in this city, regardless of their vacationing style.

For the adventurer, visiting The Rise of Icarus is a must. This slide debuts during the summer season of 2024 at the Dells' Mt. Olympus park, according to their website , and is set to be the tallest waterslide in the United States, with 145 feet of twisting excitement. If you don't find enough adrenaline there, head on over to the Ultimate Rush at Chula Vista Park, where you'll be shot 200 feet in the air on a bungee thrill ride.

Wisconsin Dells is filled with a diversity of attractions. So if heights and speeds rub you the wrong way, it's easy to find calmer water rides to enjoy, like the lazy river at Kalahari Resorts that stretches over 900 feet long or the numerous wave pools scattered throughout the city's parks. And you won't have to wait for perfect weather to visit the Dells since the city is home to a plethora of indoor and outdoor water parks.

Schlitterbahn - Galveston And New Braunfels, TX

If you're planning a trip to The Lonestar State, Schlitterbahn is a water park of your attention, and there's a good chance you won't have to go out of your way to visit. There are actually two Schlitterbahn Waterpark & Resort locations in Texas, one in Galveston and the other in New Braunfels. As the Schlitterbahn website shows, each site provides its own unique attractions that make it an ideal destination for those looking to enjoy the water.

The Galveston park is just south of Houston on Galveston Island. This park features several zero-entry beaches, a lazy river, wave pools, and a pirate ship-themed pool ideal for younger kids. For adults looking to live on the wild side, the winding Screaming Serpents body slide and the MASSIV Monster Blaster water coaster should do the trick. Numerous other slides and raft rides fill the gaps in between as well.

The New Braunfels park is the star of the two Schlitterbahn locations. This park, located between San Antonio and Austin, claims to be "The World's Best Waterpark," and it just might be depending on your tastes. Schlitterbahn New Braunfels incorporates traditional water park attractions with river rides. For the adults, each of the park's four sections features a swim-up bar, while the children can enjoy a new kids' park as of 2024. Let's not forget the park's generous number of surfing rides, tube chutes, body slides, and a Torrent River experience.

Splish Splash - Long Island, NY

For those wanting to visit The Big Apple and enjoy a massive water park experience simultaneously, there's no place better than Splish Splash in Long Island, New York. This 96-acre water park is New York state's largest water park, and it's worth going out of your way to enjoy.

Splish Splash is home to some pretty gnarly rides. The Alien Invasion is a monstrous raft ride that sends daredevils down a green and black thrill ride with their friends, inevitably spitting them into a giant cone-shaped bowl where they fly up the smooth walls. If slides are on your mind, you'll want to check out Bombs Away. It's 300 feet of fast-dropping slide, kicking off from 50 feet in the air. According to Splish Splash's official website , those on the slide reach a speed of 26 feet per second. The only thing that makes this ride better is you get to do it with a friend since Bombs Away is really two slides side-by-side.

One unique attraction at this Long Island water park is Hyperlight, a sensory experience that'll leave you breathless. This tunnel slide plays sounds and music as you raft through a series of changing lights — you'll walk away feeling like you came out of a wormhole. Something to note: Splish Splash is totally cashless, so make sure to bring a card if you visit.

DreamWorks Water Park - East Rutherford, NJ

It's safe to say most people in the United States have seen movies animated by DreamWorks Animation, whether you're young enough to have grown up with these films or old enough to have watched them with your kids or grandchildren. These movies are household names you can swim with at the DreamWorks Water Park in East Rutherford, New Jersey, where animated classics like Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, and Madagascar live on.

This park will give you a dose of nostalgia when you see the massive Shrek figure hovering above the indoor wave pool with some of his DreamWorks friends. The slides, restaurants, and attractions all share this theme, and while you're visiting, as their website shows, you'll be entertained with live performances from DreamWorks' most memorable characters.

As far as the rides go, this park doesn't have as many as some of the outdoor parks on this list, but you'll find plenty to do at DreamWorks since it's the largest indoor water park in the United States. Expect to be thrilled when you drop into the Mad Flush or fly through Shrek's Sinkhole Slammer while the kids play at The Penguins Frozen Fun Zone.

Wet 'N' Wild - Oahu, HI

The islands of Hawaii have their own water atmosphere with activities, but if visitors are looking for some extra aquatic excitement, Wet 'n' Wild Water Park in Oahu, Hawaii, is the place to go. Visitors can enjoy giant, snaking slides, like the Big Kahuna, among the tropical palm trees and chill out in the beautiful Pacific sun while braving the swells of the park's wave pool.

Though this park offers tropical scenery and classic water park attractions, it also has unique selling points you'd be hard-pressed to find anywhere else on the islands. According to the Wet 'n' Wild website , this water park is home to Da' Flowrider, a simulated surfing ride that allows visitors to surf waves in safety under the watchful eye of park staff.

Movie lover? Check out the Dive 'n' Movies, where you can float in the water while watching a classic film (or sports games!) on a giant screen. Tourists can also enjoy a taste of traditional Hawaiian culture at the Chief's Luau, where they'll be entertained by the fire dancer Chief Sielu Avea.

Water Country USA - Williamsburg, VA

In coastal states like Virginia, the option of going to the beach while on vacation is always present, but they very seldom have water slides and all the other fun attractions. Water Country USA, Virginia's biggest water park, on the other hand, has plenty of slides and attractions to keep tourists of all ages occupied for days.

The park has everything you'd expect from a large water park — restaurants, water slides in abundance, a lazy river, a wave pool — but it also has some unique attractions. The Riptide Race is, as its name suggests, a slide that allows pairs to race another two-person raft next to them. According to the Water Country USA website , the dual slide starts over 50 feet in the air, and the participants may end up dizzy after flowing down more than 500 feet of twisting slide.

Then there's Aquazoid Amped, an 800-plus-foot tube ride that encapsulates visitors and leverages sound and light to create a special effects experience similar to the Hyperlight at Splish Splash. Note, if you plan on an extended visit to Williamsburg, Busch Gardens amusement park is only a short 4-mile drive from Water Country USA and owned by the same parent company. So, there's plenty of fun all around.

Dollywood Splash Country - Pigeon Forge, TN

On the edge of Tennessee's Great Smoky Mountains, in the town of Pigeon Forge, sits Dollywood Splash Country. Due to this water park's location, the scenery is to die for. The green peaks of mountains jut into the blue of distant skies and add majesty to an already exciting experience. The Tennessee pines are almost in arms reach for those barrelling down winding slides, and the mountain air is sure to refresh visitors as they soak in the park's Mountain Waves wave pool.

If you're visiting with family or friends, group raft slides such as Raging River Rapids and Big Bear Plunge will allow you to fulfill your need for adventure as a waterlogged team. Or you can hop aboard RiverRush and test out what the Dollywood Splash Country website says is the only water coaster in the state where you'll "experience four drops along 1,175 feet of track that thrills with multiple hairpin turns and dark tunnels." It's like a roller coaster without the metal track. You'll go up and down and all around and soaking wet in the mountain sun the whole time. If, for some reason, you haven't managed to get your fill of excitement here, the Dollywood Amusement Park is right down the road.

Enchanted Forest Water Safari - Old Forge, NY

Like Splish Splash, this upstate New York water park claims to be the largest water theme park in New York. Since Enchanted Forest Water Safari uses the phrase "water theme park" instead of "water park," the two aquatic vacation destinations might make two different yet almost identical claims preventing one from suing the other. Regardless of its legal size-ranking status, Water Safari will provide visitors with just as much entertainment as its maybe-rival, though in a slightly different way.

The park has more than 50 attractions in all, and unlike Splish Splash, this number includes classic amusement park attractions like bumper cars, go-carts, and a Ferris wheel. As the Water Safari website explains, between Water Safari and the connected Calypso's Cove, you can add minigolf and arcade games to a day filled with water slides and raft rides. Visitors can also rent private cabanas to lounge in the sun or rest between rides away from bustling crowds. Add in the petting zoo, circus performances, live music, and an enchanted forest filled with living stories, and Water Safari has nearly everything you could want in the way of summertime entertainment.

Disney's Typhoon Lagoon - Lake Buena Vista, FL

When visiting Florida, it's hard not to take a trip to Walt Disney World Resort since it's the largest theme park and arguably one of the most magical places in the world, even if the lines at Disney World can be on the longer side . Inside this wonderful, imagination-stirring destination is an equally magnificent water park known as Typhoon Lagoon.

Since each area of the theme park is like stepping into a new world, you can expect to lounge in sandy beach-themed shacks while sipping on tropical drinks while you dry out your pruney fingers and toes. The whole family can enjoy a white water raft ride at Miss Adventure Falls that takes adventurers through a hunt for lost treasure. A fruit factory-themed water coaster takes pairs through one of three speeding rides, dealer's choice, at Crush 'N' Gusher.

Each of the attractions at Typhoon Lagoon comes with an in-depth story that drives the theme home and makes visitors feel like they're truly on an adventure. Among their other fun attractions, Typhoon Lagoon has the largest wave pool in North America — called the Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool — complete with waves taller than the average person, according to the Walt Disney World website .

Water World - Federal Heights, CO

Water World in Federal Heights, Colorado, is right near Denver, making it an ideal summer vacation destination for anyone looking to enjoy the thrilling entertainment of a water park and the majestic Colorado mountain views. This park has claimed to be "America's Largest Water Park" on its YouTube channel , and though that claim seems to be thrown around a lot and can't be true for everyone, this is undoubtedly a park worth checking out.

Among Water World's attractions, visitors will be transported back to the Jurassic on the flowing raft ride Voyage to the Center of the Earth — animatronic dinosaurs included. Faster thrill rides like racing slides where you and your friends plummet downward at breakneck speeds side-by-side and a raft ride where you're spun around a bowl and flushed out like toilet water will have you screaming with excitement (animatronic toilet paper not included).

If visitors at Water World are looking for a private place to rest, the park has the means to make that happen by offering cabana rentals and two-person bungalows for those looking for a more intimate setting.

LEGOLAND Florida Water Park - Winter Haven, FL

When someone goes to LEGOLAND Florida for the first time, they discover a world of fun they didn't know they'd been missing. The amusement park is an outright wonderful time that both children and adults should experience at least once. If you didn't already know, LEGOLAND Florida, in the town of Winter Haven between Orlando and Tampa, has a water park that follows the same themes that make the theme park unforgettable, as their website shows.

LEGOLAND Water Park's Build-a-Raft Lazy River is arguably one of their coolest rides. As you might expect from a place with a theme revolving around tiny, interlocking building blocks, their interpretation of lazy river lets you do more than float around. Visitors at the Build-a-Raft lazy river get to put their engineering skills to the test by creating a personalized raft out of oversized LEGOs.

Another unique attraction includes building LEGO boats and racing them against your friends at Build-A-Boat. Unfortunately, these are miniature boats that you can't ride on. Maybe someday LEGOLAND will let tourists sail the seas on their own LEGO pirate vessels, but until then, tourists can satiate their taste for adventure on a number of large water slides.

Raging Waters - Los Angeles, CA

Though many people in other parts of the country may only know California by its beach and celebrity culture, The Golden State is home to numerous theme parks, like the popular  Knott's Berry Farm  and water parks. And as far as water parks go, Raging Waters in Los Angeles is the best of them, at least according to their website .

Don't think you'll find yourself bored at Raging Waters for a second. This park has around 50 attractions, and it wouldn't be easy to sample them all in a single day, especially if you were to lose track of time chasing your children in their 30,000-square-foot water playground. While it would be possible to watch the day flow by while bobbing with the surf of a wave pool holding 1 million gallons, for the thrill-seekers, it's best to check out some of their more exciting attractions.

Neptune's Fury, Thunder Rapids, and Dragon's Den will send your whole group on exciting raft adventures. Bombs Away will have you and a buddy practically falling for 300 feet of a confusing sensation that blends terror with joy. And when you're all tuckered out from the excitement, you can refuel at one of several eateries. What a fantastic day.

Wings And Waves Waterpark - McMinnville, Oregon

Though Wings and Waves might sound like a pub and grill specializing in buffalo sauce, it's a must-visit indoor water park nestled into the Pacific Northwest — McMinnville, Oregon, to be exact. It won't be hard to recognize this park from the street since it's likely the only place in the area (or anywhere) with a 747 on its roof.

Wings and Waves gets its name from the same concept that makes it such a unique place to visit. This park is actually part of the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum, and the attractions are themed accordingly. Remember the 747 on the roof? It's a real plane, and, as King 5 Seattle explains, serves as the jumping-off point for four different water slides.

A replica helicopter above the children's play area periodically dumps hundreds of gallons of water on those below. A wave pool and vortex pool will test your ability to stay oriented. All in all, it's a great place to spend a day.

Mystery Cove

When you think of record-breakers, Minnesota may not come immediately to mind. But maybe it should! After all, "The Land of 10,000 Lakes" is no stranger to going big. Sure, that would include the state's trio of super-sized, roadside wonder birds: the world's largest prairie chicken , floating loon , and crow . But more to the point, it also includes The Mall of America – a gargantuan shopping complex whose 5.6  million  square feet of retail space rank it the largest in the Western hemisphere.

Opened in 1992, the Mall of America has been the subject of countless video essays, blogs, Travel Channel specials, and more. It's already on roller coaster enthusiasts' lists thanks to its Nickelodeon Universe amusement park that includes five roller coasters, a dark ride, and a aerial flat ride soon to be duplicated at Universal Epic Universe . But for fans of thematic design, the Mall of America is about join bucket lists in a big way...

story on a visit to a water park

That's thanks to  Mystery Cove  – a recently announced indoor water park that's daring to do something Disney hasn't done in decades : to bring to life an entirely original story. Though we don't know all the details of this announced project (believed to be due for a 2024 opening), today we'll dig into some of the incredible world-building and design elements of this project to explore how its original, IP-free story looks like a home run...

The Power of Water

Anyone who closely watches the world of theme parks will tell you that when it comes to original ideas, most operators just don't seem interested. It makes sense. After all, the 2010s and 2020s have seen an escalating "Content War," with increasingly-gargantuan media companies racing to acquire blockbuster intellectual properties (IPs), with theme parks serving as a major battleground.

story on a visit to a water park

But there's just something about water parks in particular that seems to get the creative juices flowing. Whether it's giants like Disney's Blizzard Beach & Typhoon Lagoon, SeaWorld's Aquatica, and Universal's Volcano Bay or regional outing like Schlitterbahn, Soak City, Hurricane Harbor, and Lost Island, water parks seem to be immune (or at least, resistant) to the corporate mandates for IP integration.

Given that the Mall of America already contains a "Nickelodeon Universe" theme park and that New Jersey's similarly-sized American Dream mega-mall has both a "Nickelodeon Universe" and a "DreamWorks Water Park," it probably would've been easy to make a few calls and start duplicating plans...

story on a visit to a water park

But thanks to the incredible team at Blooloop, we can get a peak into the thought process. Chris Grap – Vice President of Experiential at the Mall of America – told Blooloop:

“We wanted the freedom to set the stage for people to play and engage however they wanted. So, we looked at developing our own IP. As we set forth on that task, then we had the challenge of finding what that IP would be and what the entry point for that story is. For us, we began by looking at the past...

Everybody remembers Amelia Earhart and her team. But a lot of people don’t know about a woman named  Evelyn Siddy , who was an aviator and a mechanic. She had a brother,  Arthur Siddy , who was a naturalist and a botanist. The two of them set out in 1936 to break  Howard Hughes ’ record of traveling coast to coast.

What they didn’t count on was this crazy heat wave. It hit from the Midwest all the way through to New York. It’s literally still talked about to this day. This was a dreadful, hot, humid summer.

In fact, they went on to thrive as they explored the enigmatic island. Over time, more lost souls arrived and came to call Mystery Cove their home. Mixing the supernatural draw of  Lost , the pluck and character of  Gilligan's Island , and the extensive lore of the Valley of the Unknown, Mystery Cove will invite guests to a tropical world created by chance. English Summary

A Visit to a Park in English

A park is a place where we can sit, walk or play with friends and family. There are a lot of plants and trees and the ground has grass all over. I visited the ‘Hathi Park’ in Lucknow in winter vacations.

It was a very big park and it also had different swings for children. On the entry gates, there was a big board hanging above. It was written on the board that the park was built in the memory of B.R. Ambedkar. There were a lot of people in the park.

story on a visit to a water park

Children were playing games and some people were there for a picnic. We carried Ball and Discus Throw with us. My parents sat on a bench and my brother and I went to play. We threw and caught the disc and after that, we played with the ball. We then asked our mother to take us on the Elephant Statue. We climbed the statue and we could see the entire park from there.

My father clicked many pictures of us. After that, we went on to the playground to enjoy the Swings. We swung on Sea-Saw and then I went to a Slide which is my favourite. We joined other children on Merry-go-round and laughed a lot. My parents then asked us to eat something and we went to the Food Stalls. We ate oodles and I had Chocolate Shake. After we were full, we all went for a walk.

There we saw many types of flowers there were Tulips, Daffodils and Roses of all colours. The wall was covered with Climbers and it looked beautiful. After coming back from the park, I told my mother how much I loved that park and she promised that she will me take me there again soon.

Peanut Island , the 80-acre tropical island located at the west end of the Palm Beach (Lake Worth) Inlet, is a get-there-only-by-boat county park, where long strings of boats raft up while hundreds of people socialize in the shallow off-shore water. At its best, a visit to the island can feel like a brief Bahamian vacation as the Gulfstream flows in through the inlet to bathe the palm-fringed island in warm, crystalline water.

Here's everything you need to know before you go to this tropical paradise near West Palm Beach: Peanut Island Guide 2024

Pierce Brosnan is fined for leaving trail in Yellowstone National Park thermal area

The Associated Press

Pierce Brosnan, a cast member in "The Out-Laws," poses at a screening of the film, on June 26, 2023, in Los Angeles. Brosnan pleaded guilty Thursday to stepping out of bounds in a thermal area during a November 2023 visit to Yellowstone National Park.

MAMMOTH, Wyo. — Pierce Brosnan, whose fictitious movie character James Bond has been in hot water plenty of times, pleaded guilty Thursday to stepping off a trail in a thermal area during a November visit to Yellowstone National Park.

Brosnan , who called in to the court hearing, was fined $500 and ordered to make a $1,000 donation to Yellowstone Forever — a nonprofit organization that supports the park — by April 1, court records said.

A second petty offense, for violating closures and use limits, was dismissed by U.S. Magistrate Judge Stephanie Hambrick.

Brosnan's attorney, Karl Knuchel, was not immediately available for comment.

Brosnan, 70, walked in an off-limits area at Mammoth Terraces, in the northern part of Yellowstone near the Wyoming-Montana line, on Nov. 1, according to the citations. He was in the park on a personal visit and not for film work, the U.S. Attorney's Office for Wyoming has said.

Pierce Brosnan faces charges after allegedly walking in Yellowstone's thermal areas

Mammoth Terraces is a scenic spot of mineral-encrusted hot springs bubbling from a hillside. They are just some of the park's hundreds of thermal features, which range from spouting geysers to gurgling mud pots, with water at or near the boiling point.

Going out-of-bounds in such areas can be dangerous: Some of the millions of people who visit Yellowstone each year get badly burned by ignoring warnings not to stray off the trail.

Getting caught can bring legal peril, too, with jail time, hefty fines and bans from the park handed down to trespassers regularly.

In addition to his four James Bond films, Brosnan starred in the 1980s TV series "Remington Steele" and is known for starring roles in the films "Mrs. Doubtfire" and "The Thomas Crown Affair."
