Uganda Travel
Up close and personal with the gorillas.
Immerse yourself in the evergreen country on the East African plateau on a trip to Uganda . With its pleasant climate, it lies at an average altitude of 1100 meters. The often untouched nature provides a habitat for highly endangered animal species such as gorillas, chimpanzees and Rothschild giraffes.
In the southwest of Uganda, in the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, there are around 460 of the world’s 1,100 remaining Mountain gorillas. There are also a large number of reserves such as Queen Elisabeth National Park, Murchison Falls National Park with its famous waterfall, the virtually untouched Kidepo National Park and Lake Mburo National Park where you can experience the “big five” up close.
You can plan your vacation in Uganda with Avali Tours individually or in a small group. We are also specialists in Uganda self-drive tours. If you want to travel independently and privately, you can explore Uganda on your own with your own four-wheel drive rental car – of course with pre-booked lodges and pre-booked permits for gorilla and chimpanzee tracking.

Experience the fascinating wildlife, national parks and primates on Uganda safaris
Whether you want to see elephants, lions, leopards, giraffes, zebras, hippos, crocodiles or antelopes – the safari dream becomes reality in Uganda. Countless lakes and rivers such as Lake Victoria, Lake Bunyonyi or the White Nile are scenically impressive and offer opportunities for sporting activities and relaxation in the midst of pristine nature.
Uganda Country combination Kenya, Tanzania & Rwanda
The countries of East Africa are ideal for a combination of countries. Whenever we hear the question: “Uganda or Tanzania?” – we ask back: “Why not both?” .
Simply combine the most beautiful highlights of East Africa on one trip. In Uganda, encounter the majestic gorillas and lively chimpanzees in their natural habitat of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, marvel at the roaring Murchison Falls and observe the unique wildlife of Queen Elizabeth National Park, which is home to the Big Five, among others.
Wildness and wonder: an unforgettable journey through the heart of East Africa

Combination Uganda and Tanzania
In Tanzania, the incomparable sight of Mount Kilimanjaro, the Ngorongoro Crater and the vastness of the Serengeti awaits you . In September and October you can also see the Great Migration in Tanzania, the spectacular animal migration in which millions of wildebeest and zebras cross the Mara River.
Kenya attracts visitors with relaxation on the white sandy beaches of Mombasa and the diverse culture of the Maasai and wildlife spotting in the national parks. The species-rich Amboseli National Park is known for its elephant population and at Lake Nakuru you can be enchanted by the bright pink flamingos.
Rwanda is the least developed tourist destination in our country mosaic. The landlocked country is an oasis of peace and beauty – you will experience this at the latest when you see the rolling landscape in the “Land of a Thousand Hills” for the first time.
In the capital Kigali, you can stroll through the lively and colorful markets and learn about the tragic chapters of the country’s history at the Genocide Memorial. The real highlight of Rwanda are the majestic mountain gorillas in the Volcanoes National Park. An encounter with these gentle giants in the mist is an experience you will never forget
With a combination of Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya and Rwanda, you will experience the authentic Africa , filled with wonders, wilderness and unforgettable experiences. Each of these countries offers numerous impressive moments that together tell the fascinating story of this breathtaking continent. Do you already have a clear idea of the highlights you would like to discover?
Do you already have specific ideas about which highlights you would like to explore? We will be happy to organize a tailor-made trip for you.
What is the best way to discover Uganda?
Selbstfahrer mit vorgebuchten lodges.
If you prefer the freedom and independence that comes with driving your own vehicle, then a self-drive tour with pre-booked lodges and permits for the national parks is perfect for you. You can set your own schedule, stop when and where you want and discover the beauty of Uganda at your own pace. With the pre-booked lodges, you can look forward to having a comfortable place to rest at the end of an eventful day. With our detailed travel plan and route description, you can easily devote yourself to your very own travel experiences along the route.
If you are completely adventurous and want to plan your own route with overnight accommodation, then you have the option of booking just a rental car with us.
Rundreise in Kleingruppen
If you appreciate the benefits of a guided tour while enjoying the intimate experience of a small group, a small group tour is an excellent choice. This type of trip allows you to discover the highlights of Uganda in the company of an experienced local guide and a small group of like-minded people. Look forward to being out and about together, on game drives and walking safaris, listening to the anecdotes of our tour guide – with information and stories that you certainly won’t find in any travel guide.
Privatreise mit Fahrer
If you are looking for maximum comfort and convenience, then a private tour with a guide is the ideal choice. On this type of trip, you will be accompanied by a friendly driver who will take care of all the logistical aspects of your trip and knows his way around. You can sit back, relax and enjoy the view while your driver drives you safely through the countryside and national parks. Also included: valuable insights into the culture, history and wildlife of the country.
Campingreise mit Dachzelt
If you are one of those who want to experience the wilderness up close, a camping trip with a roof tent is just the thing for you. Not only will you have the opportunity to see the country’s breathtaking wildlife up close, but you will also have the chance to sleep under the African starry sky in the midst of nature. In addition, the roof tent offers a high degree of flexibility, as you can choose your location as you wish and always have your bed, kitchen and other equipment with you.
Private Flugsafari
A fly-in safari is not only a quick and convenient way to visit Uganda’s various national parks and attractions, it also offers unparalleled views of the country’s diverse topography, ranging from the snow-capped mountains of Rwenzori to the vast plains of the savannah. A fly-in safari also allows you to visit a large number of places in a short space of time, saving you a lot of distance.

Murchinson Falls National Park
The national park in north-western Uganda is named after the waterfalls of the same name, where the White Nile plunges more than 40 meters into the depths. In addition to crocodiles, elephants, lions, hippos and buffalo, you can also observe the highly endangered Rothschild giraffe here. In the northwest of the national park, the densely overgrown mahogany forests are home to many chimpanzees. And it’s not just ornithologists who enjoy the many different bird species, which put on a masterful concert, especially at sunrise. You have the option of going on a boat safari or a classic game drive in an off-road vehicle (both with a guide). There are also some freely accessible trails where you can explore the park on your own. However, if you want to use the time to see as many large animals as possible, we recommend one of the expert guides at your side – interesting anecdotes and interesting facts about the animals’ habitat included!
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Bwindi National Park is home to one of the country’s most valuable treasures. Here you can observe the mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. This is only possible in the form of gorilla tracking with a guide, who takes you on a short hike directly to the gorilla families. Depending on your fitness level, you can join different groups if, for example, you want to take it a little easier. You will be rewarded with a special kind of encounter. It is a real moment of pause when you see the gentle giants in the middle of the green thicket for the first time. Many may consider the gorilla permit to be an expensive affair, but many know that they are making a very meaningful contribution to the protection of the animals and enabling sustainable and environmentally friendly tourism.
Walking safari in Lake Mburo National Park
A safari on foot is a very special experience and not possible in many national parks. Due to the special wildlife population, however, you can easily go on a magical journey of discovery on foot in Lake Mburo – because no large predators live here. Walk with your guide through the savannah landscape, past acacia and papyrus forests. Look forward to safari moments of a special kind: here you can observe hippos, buffaloes, impalas, eland antelopes, warthogs and crocodiles in their natural habitat – in addition to fish eagles and pelicans, there are around 300 other bird species. If you want to see zebras in Uganda, you can only do so in this national park. The hyenas, jackals and leopards living in the park are very reclusive.

Interesting facts & frequently asked questions
Wann ist die beste reisezeit für uganda.
The best time to travel to Uganda depends on individual preferences and planned activities. In general, however, the dry seasons between December and February and from June to September are the best times to travel . During these months, the roads are well passable and the game drives on safari are particularly rewarding as the animals congregate around the remaining waterholes and the less dense vegetation allows for better visibility. In addition, the average temperatures of 22-25°C are pleasantly warm, but not too hot. Although the landscape is particularly lush and flourishing in the rainy seasons from March to May and October to November, the heavy rains can affect travel plans. The dry seasons are therefore considered the best time to travel to Uganda.
Klimatabelle und Wetter
The climate is determined by its location on the equator and the altitude of the country. The relatively moderate temperature conditions are fairly constant throughout the year. There are two rainy seasons, a stronger one between March and May, and another from October to November. During these months, heavy rainfall is heaviest in the mountainous regions of the west and southwest and around Lake Victoria. The average temperatures in the capital are a balanced 22-25°C throughout the year.
To enter Uganda, you need a passport (which is valid for 6 months after departure), proof of a yellow fever vaccination and a visa, which you must apply for online in advance .
Geld & Währung
The official currency in Uganda is the Uganda Shilling. Euros and US dollars can also be exchanged locally. In most cases, it is also possible to pay with US dollars. You can withdraw cash from ATMs in larger cities and at the airport using your EC card and credit card. Payment by credit card is not common and is usually only possible in large hotels and restaurants.
Wie viel Trinkgeld ist in Uganda üblich?
Tipping is a common practice in Uganda and an important part of the income for many service providers. Drivers, guides and rangers are happy to receive a tip of USD 5 per person per day. For porters who help you with tracking, a tip of 5-10 USD is appropriate. Remember that tips are always voluntary and are primarily intended to express your appreciation for good service. It is customary to hand over the tip in an envelope in order to maintain discretion.
Gesund reisen
All travelers must provide proof of a yellow fever vaccination – the only exception is children who have not yet reached the age of one. In addition to a hepatitis A vaccination, the Federal Foreign Office also recommends adhering to the vaccination recommendations of the Robert Koch Institute and dealing with the issue of malaria prophylaxis. If you have any questions, it is best to consult your family doctor or a travel medicine specialist.
Welche Kleidung sollte ich einpacken | Packliste für Uganda
- Light, breathable clothing : T-shirts, blouses and pants made of cotton are ideal.
- Long pants and shirts : these not only protect you from mosquito bites, but also from the sun.
- Light-colored clothing: Dark colors can attract insects, so light colors are preferable.
- Light jacket or sweater: For cooler evenings or excursions to higher altitudes.
- Robust clothing: If you are planning a safari, you should pack robust clothing.
- Hat or cap: A hat protects you from the sun and helps prevent sunstroke.
- Comfortable hiking boots: These are essential for longer walks or hikes.
- Sun protection: Sunglasses and sun cream with a high protection factor are important.
- Rain jacket: As the weather in Uganda can change quickly, you should always have a rain jacket with you.
- Swimwear: For a dip in the pool at the lodge or if you plan to swim in Lake Victoria.
- Underwear and socks: Sufficient to change, ideally also made of cotton
During summer time, you have to set your watch one hour ahead on a trip to Uganda (Central European Summer Time +1). In winter time, Uganda is 2 hours ahead of us (CET +2 hours).
In addition to English, Swahili is also an official language, although the latter is rarely used. The locals speak a total of 50 different national languages – of which Luganda is the most widely spoken.
Essen und Trinken
Ugali (maize porridge), sweet potatoes, manioc, beans and cabbage are popular side dishes in Uganda, which are usually eaten with fish or chicken – all spiced up to make a typical meal in Uganda. You can especially look forward to the fresh fruit, which is also ideal for snacks: Avocados, papayas and oranges with a wonderful aroma. For a snack between meals, try the sweet mandazis (small dumplings) or samosas – a savory version of dumplings. Tea is grown in Uganda and is mainly drunk with milk. When drinking water, you should always use bottled water. The water from the tap is not suitable for consumption.

Uganda Wildlife Safari
Known as The Pearl of Africa, Uganda is a wonder from the diversity of wildlife to her friendly people and stunning landscapes. This safari will show you the best of Uganda including memorable jungle experiences, meeting with the endangered mountain gorillas and chimpanzees, fabulous game drives and nature walks, boat cruises on some of the most amazing bodies of water and glorious sightseeing. Staying in beautiful accommodation, this safari offers an excellent introduction to the primate highlights of this wonderful country.
Birding Safari
Uganda is a bird lover’s paradise, boasting more than 1,000 different bird species. The country’s diverse landscapes and ecosystems provide ideal habitats for various species that range from exotic forest birds to tall water cranes and majestic birds of prey.
The Mabamba Swamp, which is located on Lake Victoria’s beaches, is one of Uganda’s top places to go bird watching. The Mabamba Swamp is well regarded for being the best-known location to view shoebill storks. As a result, Mabamba is the most popular place for birding. Birders in this area travel by canoe, which gets them closer to the area where they can see the enormous bird.
Tree Climbing Lions
It is somewhat uncommon for lions to actually climb trees. There are no more than 2 populations in whole world of such lions that do actually climb trees as one of their day after day behaviour. One of these populations is found within the Ishasha sector which is found in the south part of the well known Queen Elizabeth National Park within Uganda.
Embark on half-day or full-day game drives as you explore Queen Elizabeth National Park, where in addition to the tree-climbing lions you will see thousands of wild animals freely roaming in the park. Among these animals are zebras, bushbucks, African elephants, a diversity of antelope species, buffaloes, and warthogs.

Dreams Come True
Katella Uganda Safaris Company, Florence & Robert exceeded our expectations. From the moment we stepped off the airplane in Uganda until the moment we left every detail was perfect. We saw more on the game drives than anticipated AND the boat ride along the river joining the lakes was a bonus. Each lodging location was unique with all the employees so kind and helpful. Our highlight was the Gorilla trek in the Bwindi Impenetrable National Forest where the porters/guide/trackers made sure our hour with the Gorilla family was the best time possible. Next we thoroughly enjoyed The Golden Monkey trek in Rwanda where, once again, an amazing experience. The Ibyiwacu Cultural Experience gave us insight on how Rwanda was in days gone by along with knowledge of how they have changed their lifestyle to work and live with nature. If you are planning an Africa Trip Florence is your gal…easy to work with and handles every detail with care.
We are really humbled by your review. And happy to know you enjoyed your safari. Looking forward to serving you again. Regards Florence
Florence who helped organise this trip was brilliant. She understood the assignment (limited time. Limited budget. Long list of must sees in a short space) and made it happen. Given that we were based in completely different countries and wouldn’t be able to meet before my travels I was a little anxious but Florence’s professional went above and beyond my expectations (like answering texts at 3am while handling a new born with malaria)
Thank you Marie for the review. So happy to know you had a good time on your safari. Thank you for having trusted us to run your safari. Looking forward to serving you again. Regards Florence
I'm not sure any review I could possibly write will capture just how amazing Florence of Katella Uganda Safaris is. She is the true Pearl of Africa ! ! ! Her communication and correspondence made me feel so comfortable with the decision I made to use this incredible company. And she was so accommodating with my desired itinerary. She truly made my dreams come true ❤️ She provided spectacular accommodations, fantastic game drives, with a professional driver that always made us feel safe (especially during the "African Massages" = really rough roads) Thank you Robert 😊 I was traveling with my Aunt and it was a special birthday for me. Florence made it special for so many reasons and I got to spend it with the magnificent mountain Gorillas in Bwindi. It was an overwhelming day of joy and happiness. Thank you so much Florence - you are a very special person. So sweet and kind. I'm grateful that our paths have crossed. To anyone reading this, if you are trying to make a decision, you will not regret choosing Katella Uganda Safaris ! ! !
Thank you so much Mandy for the review. We surely don't take it for granted. Looking forward to hosting you again. Regards Florence
We can't say enough about our experience with Florence and Katella Uganda Safaris, and our trip of a lifetime in Uganda and Kenya. We worked on this trip for over a year. Florence was the first person I reached out to and, due to the scope of this vacation and budget, I, of course, looked at several other companies. Florence was always quick to respond and was so accommodating and patient to the many changes and ideas we had through the process. Her prices ended up being the best and she fit in everything we asked for. We had many moving parts with 2 couples, specific accommodations we wanted for a few locations, stopping in Egypt on the way, and flights, drives, boats, balloons, horseback riding, etc. and everything was seamless. Not one missed activity, transfer or pick up. She checked in along the way to make sure all was good and we arrived on time. The accommodations she picked for us (when we didn't have a specific request) and all the drivers she arranged were excellent, and you could tell she was in constant communication with them. Florence and Eveline were also so kind as to meet us for lunch the short time we had in Entebbe, and even arranged for us to see the Botanical Gardens during our layover. Note about tipping - You will (hopefully) tip far more than anticipated. I budgeted out guides, drivers and basics at hotels, but we were tipping all over the place. We had no issue with this, as everyone we encountered were so hospitable and wonderful. Also google average wages - you will want to help everyone. But, we way underestimated what we needed and had to get more money a couple times in Kenya. Our itinerary was as follows, should it help anyone with similar interests: - 2 days in Egypt (not part of our Katella itinerary - great guide was Dalia) - 2 days in Uganda: - Landed in Entebbe > Flight to Bwindi, picked up by Moses, who was great. - 2 nights at Tracker's Safari Lodge which we loved. - Gorilla trek and Batwa Cultural Experience (both fantastic!) - Flight back to Entebbe, Botanical Gardens, lunch w/ Florence - Flight to Nairobi - 1 night in Nairobi at Tamarind Tree Hotel. - 3 nights Borana Lodge - Picked up by Paul, our driver and guide for the rest of the trip, - 4 hr drive to Borana Conservancy. *To do it again, we'd fly this leg to Borana. We changed from flights to driving in Kenya to save some $$, but flying would save a drive that isn't all that great in terms of scenery, until near Borana - Borana was AMAZING and worth every penny. Can't say enough about the accommodations, guides (Ben!), food and staff. 5+++ stars - Borana has it's own guides, so Paul had a few days off - Game drives, Rhino tracking on foot, behind the scenes with conservation efforts (amazing), horseback safari, ebike safari, Masai inauguration ceremony (once every 15 yrs). All was just awesome. - Saw the big 5 within first 2 days, and so much more. - 1 night Lake Nakuru / Cliff Lodge - 5 hr drive from Borana and we got a late start after a horseback ride. - Another that you could fly instead of driving, though you get a feel for Kenya on the drive. - Cliff lodge was fantastic - a good hour drive from the entrance of the National Park, so a bit out of the way, but beautiful luxury tents with sunrise view over lake from bed. Excellent and wish we had more time here. - Saw a rhino by the road 5 min into the park - rare on a sunny day! - 1 night Lake Naivasha / Sawela Lodge - Drive through Lake Nakuru National Park with flamingos, pelicans, many other birds, rhinos, lions, elephant, giraffe, Topi, Eland, and more - Drive to Lake Navasha - Boat ride (organized by Paul and Florence fairly last minute) - Walking safari on Crescent Island with Gibson, who was great - Saw hippos, many different birds, walked among giraffe, zebra, Topi, etc. - Sawela was very nice - bigger hotel with lots of people and a buffet dinner and breakfast, which aren't our style typically, but it was a stop over and perfectly fine. They have a very large gym, expansive grounds, pool, etc., but we didn't have time to really see any of it) - 4 nights at Kilima Camp in Masai Mara - 6-7 hour drive on some bumpy roads. Another place you could fly to, but it was certainly a Kenyan experience to drive. - Kilima Camp was great - small, amazing panoramic views of the Mara from the highest point, luxury tents, great food. - Paul took us on several game drives, we did a horseback safari, hot air balloon at sunrise (not cheap, but once in a lifetime), bush walk with the medicine man. Saw Cheetah and Crocs for the first time, plus everything else imaginable. - We missed the Great Migration by 1 week :(. Though, we saw lots of wildebeest remains on the river's edge, so maybe a good thing to miss? - Flight back to Nairobi - we booked our own accommodations at Crowne Plaza Airport which was a great location and good hotel. You won't go wrong with Katella - happy planning and safe travels!
Thank you so much for the wonderful review. Happy to know you enjoyed your safari. And we are glad and really honoured for having trusted us to run your safari. Looking forward to hosting you again. Regards Florence Namiiro
I spent almost a month on a customized Safari organized by Katella Uganda Safaris. It was a well organized tour, and our guide was fantastic throughout our trip. Timing on our itinerary was impeccable and nothing we had planned had to be cut out last minute due to poor scheduling. We did everything from Big 5 game drives to Gorilla trekking, Chimpanzee trekking, Monkey Trekking, including Golden monkeys, and a day spent at Chimpanzee Island. We also had a couple of cultural tours through local communities and learned lots. Our accommodations varied from budget to midrange to luxury and this gave us a wonderful array of African experiences. Katella was there for us every step of the way throughout my vacation, helping out however I needed them to. Hands down the best vacation I have ever had, and I will absolutely use Katella again for a future Kenya/Tanzania/Zanzibar vacation I’m looking into as well as another Ugandan cultural tour.
Thank you Lisa for the review. We are happy to know that you enjoyed your safari here. Looking forward to hosting again. Florence
We had a great experience with Katella Uganda Safaris from the moment we started planning our trip. We reached out to Florence from the US and she gave us several options for our time in Uganda. She was very responsive and patient with our questions, especially considering we were not clear what we wanted to do. In the end, Katella Safaris was able to secure permits for us to visit the mountain gorillas in Mgahinga National Park. When we arrived in Entebbe, we met with Florence and our guide. They were so welcoming and supportive of our experience and we felt 100% secure in our decision to use Katella Uganda Safaris. The vehicle was in good shape. Our driver was cautious and stopped when we needed to. The accommodations were superb. The experience in the mountains with the gorillas was an exceptional opportunity to see the gentle giants. We highly recommend this tour company and we feel like we made friends for life with Flo. Thanks for an amazing time in an amazing country.
Thank you Theresa for the amazing review. And am so glad to know you enjoyed every bit of your safari. Am so grateful that you gave us an opportunity to organize and run your safari. Glad I made friends for life too. Greetings to Angie. Regards Florence

10 Best African Countries for Safari
Posted: December 19, 2023 | Last updated: December 19, 2023
#1 Botswana
Recommended Tours:
Thus, poachers are seen as enemies of the people. As a result, Botswana has come into view as Africa's most sought-after ecotourism destination. Starting from the Chobe National Park to the Moremi Nature Reserve, you'll be able to witness numerous gems all around the country.
Back in 2014, Botswana widely banned the hunting of wild animals and implemented strict laws which are still in practice. The country resumes its zero-tolerance for poaching and their very own environmental minister, Tshekedi Khama, has even launched a shoot-to-kill policy for poachers.
Botswana, with its wildlife conservation and natural parks, is a haven for nature lovers. It is currently in the top 5, as its approach to the protection and conservation of wildlife is worth the praise. As a country, it is very forward-thinking, some may even call it aggressively forward-thinking when it comes to its preservation and anti-poaching laws.
Its fertile land provides a safe and comforting home to around 200 mammal species. This includes elephants, hippos, monkeys and so much more. Along with 650 bird species and 5,500 plants. Even though the country is still underdeveloped and most of the population live in rural households, its national parks, and sight-seeing destinations are on the top 10 of our lists.
Even though many would face some difficulties in locating Malawi on a map, given how tiny it is, the country is home to the world-renowned Lake Malawi National Park. This is practically one-third of the country and is the most biodiverse lake in the world.
Most of the land in Namibia is occupied by the Kalahari and Namib Deserts. Along with that, the country also has 12 national parks and many other areas which are protected. So, if you go there for a safari, you'll have many rich areas to see and explore.
When it comes to countries with the least amount of population, Namibia is one of them. Which proves to be a good thing for nature. This is because most of the land in Namibia is still unspoiled by human filth or any sort of development, giving nature a chance to breathe.
In the country's Volcanoes National Park, you'll find 10 habituated gorilla families. Groups of 8 trekkers can visit them for one hour per day. But that's enough to get the best African safari experience. And as a nature lover, you'll enjoy the experience to the max.
If you've been around for some time, you'll be familiar with Rwanda's mountain gorillas. They were famously broadcasted and their fight for survival was shown on National Geographic . This was all thanks to the late Dian Fossey back in the 1970s who advocated for the rights of these mountain gorillas throughout her life.
Considering the tragic history surrounding the mass genocide of the people of Rwanda back in 1994, it's truly a blessing what the country has achieved in the past 25 years. There have been countless investments in infrastructure. This has resulted in the country being a very fast-growing destination for ecotourism.

But given all the advantages, it's safe to conclude that South Africa also suffers from over-tourism. I mean, if you have so many great attractions, people will flock towards it. Chances are that you'll find yourself in the middle of dozens of unruly visitors who are not too keen on obeying the rules. This occurs mostly during the peak seasons.
Annually, the country has one million visitors. Its biggest attraction is the Kruger National Park with its enrichment in biodiversity. Visitors there also have the liberty to self-drive, thus, getting a first-person private but superb experience.
For some time now, South Africa has been climbing the charts to become one of the most popular destinations for African safaris. Given its location, South Africa is a very convenient and cheap destination for people from the United States. Besides that, the country also boasts a well-developed infrastructure which makes it perfect for luxury travelers as well.
#7 Tanzania
One of the most popular locations would be the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The country is also a haven for 1100 different bird species. It's no wonder that Tanzania gets this much rep. Especially when the country boasts so many wonders.
We talked about Kenya being the top destination for Safari. Now Tanzania here takes second place in being the continent's most popular safari destination. And why shouldn't it? The country has 16 national parks and an extraordinary amount of wealth and wildlife wonders for the people to witness.
Some of its natural attractions include housing the highest mountain range in Africa. It also has the world's largest free-standing volcano and the second-largest freshwater lake. With its 30 national parks and other wildlife reserves, Uganda boasts many more sanctuaries which are worth the visit. Especially if you're a lover of nature and wildlife.
Often called "The Pearl of Africa", Uganda is certainly a great pick for an African safari. Its reputation as being one of the best ecotourism destinations comes from the country's natural attractions and wildlife.
Out of its 20 national parks, the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park is home to many wildlife animals such as African elephants, Angolan giraffes, Cape buffalo, etc. Other than that, there are many private ownerships of National parks, notably the Kasanka National Park which is near the basin of Lake Bangweulu. It's a safe place where visitors can see 400 different avian species.
Zambia may be a bit far down the list of popular destinations for your African safari, but many consider it to be a destination for diversified and immersive safari experiences, and making a notable feature on our 10 Best African Countries for Safari guide. The country is steadily focusing on conservation as their president has shown a keen interest and is working on building the nation's economy as well as the infrastructure.
