Barbuda Express Ferry Service & Day Tours

A to b by sea.

The Antigua Barbuda ferry service uses the Barbuda Express which is an innovative wave-piercing catamaran giving maximum passenger comfort at high speed. The journey time of 90 minutes in nearly all weather conditions makes it ideal for business use and for day-trips or excursions. The Barbuda Express ferry can be boarded at the ferry dock in St. John’s Harbour. The ferry dock is located at the bottom of High Street in St. John’s city.

The Barbuda Express runs 6 days a week between Antigua and Barbuda:

• Barbudans can spend a convenient day in St Johns for business &/or shopping with a liberal allowance for personal goods carried on board by hand.
• Antiguans can visit Barbuda for the day or longer, at reasonable rates, to enjoy the amazing beauty and peace of their sister island.
• Tourists can economically visit Barbuda with a selection of packages to explore and discover this undeveloped and little-visited island.
• Freight can be regularly and reliably moved between the islands.

Barbuda Day Tours

Our Barbuda Day Tours depart every day except Sunday at 6:00am for the 90 min. trip to Barbuda. On Thursday you can also start your tour on our 2nd ferry of the day departing at 9:30am. There is a short taxi ride to Codrington where you meet the boats that will take you to the Frigate Bird Sanctuary. You will then return to Codrington where the taxi is waiting to take you on a short tour, including caves used by the Arawak Indians and the ruins of the Codrington family home, before delivering you to a beach for an “al fresco” lobster lunch under the trees. Plenty of time to relax, swim or snorkel until the taxi returns you to the ferry for the trip back to Antigua.

Barbuda Day Tour

$159.00 usd * per person.

On Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday your Barbuda Day Tour adventure departs at 6:30am from St. John's Harbour. On Wednesday and Friday your tour departs at 7:30am from Jolly Harbour. There are no tours on Sunday.

On arrival in Barbuda, there is a 25 minute taxi ride to catch the small boat ride to your first stop - The Frigate Bird Sanctuary. Along the way, you will spot the historic Martello Tower.

The Frigate Bird Sanctuary is the largest and most magnificent in the western hemisphere. This sanctuary is only accessible by small boats with a knowledgeable tour guide. Enjoy the drumming sound of the Frigate Birds and watch out for any turtles. From the bird sanctuary your next adventure is a quick stop at the Pink Sand beach. Please note that pink sand is seasonal and dependent on sea conditions. This part of the tour is approximately 1.5 hours.

Catered lunch will be served at Hillside View Bar & Grill at Two Foot Bay. We highly recommend indulging in freshly caught Barbudan seafood. It is very IMPORTANT that you provide us with your lunch preference when making your tour booking. After lunch, it is snorkeling and beach time at Coral Group Bay. This drive is approximately 30 minutes.

We kindly ask you to let us know about your meal preferences:

• • Fresh Barbudan lobster with a garlic/lemon sauce (U$10.00 extra) - NOT AVAILABLE from May 1st to June 30th
• • Fresh Barbudan "Catch of the day" with a creole sauce
• • Grilled barbecued chicken
• • Vegetarian - Curried chickpeas or sautéed tofu with coconut basmati rice and garden salad

No lobsters available during Lobster Mating Season - May 1 to June 30.

From St. John's your ferry departs at 6:30am, check-in time is 5:45am. The ferry is located at the bottom of High St, in St John's Harbor.

From Jolly Harbour you ferry departs at 7:30am, check-in time is 6:45am. The ferry is located at the dock in front of Sea Dream Bar & Restaurant, in Jolly Harbour Marina.
