BURBANK, Calif. (February 7, 2024) – Today, Disney+ announced that “Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version),” which is the concert film in its entirety for the first time and includes the song “cardigan” and four additional acoustic songs, will make its streaming debut on March 15, 2024, exclusively on Disney+. The history-making, cinematic experience from 14-time GRAMMY®-winning artist, “Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour” directed by Sam Wrench, grossed more than $260 million worldwide at the global box office, making it the top selling concert film of all-time.

The  Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film will begin streaming on Disney+ worldwide, including in Canada, on March 15th.

Notably, it’s being dubbed Taylor’s Version  as it’s the first time the concert will be available in its entirety, given that the theatrical release cut “cardigan” and four additional acoustic songs .

It’s a major get for Disney+, as  The Eras Tour  film has only been available at home via rental on streaming video on demand platforms like iTunes and Google Play since December following its highly successful theatrical run. (These digital versions included three songs not featured in the theatrical release, versus all five that will be shown on Disney+.)

The Eras Tour  hit theatres in October and quickly grossed over $260 million USD (about $350 million CAD) worldwide, making it the top-selling concert film of all time.

This December, Swift will also bring The Eras Tour to Toronto and Vancouver , although naturally, tickets for these shows sold out immediately. Therefore, Disney+ will likely be the simplest and most affordable option for the majority of people.

Are you excited to watch (or rewatch)  The Eras Tour ? Were you lucky enough to get tickets to one of her Canadian shows? Let us know in the comments.

The Eras Tour era might be over in the U.S., but that doesn’t mean you have to put your friendship bracelets up on the shelf. AMC Theatres announced on Thursday morning (Aug. 31) that it has teamed up with the singer to present Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour concert film, which will debut on thousands of screens beginning Oct. 13.

Taylor Swift’s Style Evolution, From 2006 to Now

Swift posted a trailer for the film as well, writing, “The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful, electric experience of my life so far and I’m overjoyed to tell you that it’ll be coming to the big screen soon. Starting Oct 13th you’ll be able to experience the concert film in theaters in North America! Tickets are on sale now at http://taylor.lnk.to/TSTheErasTourFilm… . Eras attire, friendship bracelets, singing and dancing encouraged. 1, 2, 3 LGB!!!! (iykyk).”

The movie will also screen in IMAX and Dolby Cinema at AMC, as well as in other premium large formats for the standard up-charge fees, which varies by format and theatre. In anticipation of an expected rush of interest — perhaps learning from the chaos unleashed by Ticketmaster’s botched presale roll-out for the U.S. Eras Tour dates — AMC said it has upgraded its website and ticketing engines to “handle more than five times the largest influx of ticket-buying traffic” the company has experienced before.

The 80-second trailer for the film directed by Sam Wrench ( Billie Eilish Live at the O2 , Rhythm & Flow , BTS: Permission to Dance ) features a quick-cut of Swift’s many sparkling on-stage costumes from the tour cued to “Cruel Summer,” providing glimpses of the most iconic sets from the three-hour-plus performances. According to CNBC , like the marathon concerts, the movie will have a final runtime of two hours and 45 minutes.

AMC said that because of the unique nature of the event, no free movie passes will be accepted for the screenings, and AMC Stubs A-List cannot use their memberships to reserve tickets; AMC will also temporarily scale back its website ticketing availability for most of their other movie titles in anticipation of the rush of interest. In addition, to discourage speculation on secondary-ticketing sites no refunds will be offered on ticket purchases.

See the trailer below.

Taylor Swift's new Eras tour film is the latest lesson in 'Swift-onomics'

Cineplex confirmed the concert movie will play in more than 150 cineplex theatres.

taylor swift eras tour film canada

Social Sharing

If you weren't able to secure tickets to see Taylor Swift in concert in 2024 in Toronto, fear not — her Eras tour is coming to Canadian theatres.

On Thursday, Cineplex confirmed the concert film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour will play in more than 150 Cineplex theatres around the country starting on Oct. 13. The film will play Thursdays to Sundays.

"The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful, electric experience of my life so far, and I'm overjoyed to tell you that it'll be coming to the big screen soon," Swift said on her social media Thursday morning. "Eras attire, friendship bracelets, singing and dancing encouraged… 1, 2, 3 LGB!!!! (iykyk)."

And with dozens of shows — spanning continents — still to go, the Eras World Tour is on pace to become the highest grossing tour of all time.

One estimate from research company QuestionPro says her tour could generate $4.6 billion for the U.S. economy alone.

The Taylor Swift effect

Swift's two shows in Colorado this summer led to a $186.9-million boost to the state's GDP for the year, a report by the Common Sense Institute found.

A similar boost was reported in Philadelphia after Swift performed three shows there in May.

"May was the strongest month for hotel revenue in Philadelphia since the onset of the pandemic, in large part due to an influx of guests for the Taylor Swift concerts in the city," the report read.

It's a phenomenon some people have playfully coined "Swift-onomics."

And experts predict the trend will continue during her Toronto shows. Ticket sales alone for those shows are estimated to reach $120 million, according to Daniel Tsai, a business professor at TMU.

Taylor Swift performing on stage.

And it's not just the concerts that are generating money.

"These are people who are coming from all across Canada, and so that means you're going to have people here who are ready to spend," said Tsai.

"You're bringing your family and you're going to go out, have meals and really spend big money to enjoy the moment."

So how much money is "big money"?

"Probably in the range of $600 to maybe even $800 million Canadian being generated," he said.

"Your spend in the stadium is one thing, but what you do outside of that will be even greater because you have to consider that hotels, for instance, have doubled ... what they're asking for in some cases," he added.

And while concert films — movies attached to an artist's tour — aren't exactly new, it's something that's having a bit of a moment right now, according to Sydney Urbanek, a culture critic who writes the pop star-centric newsletter Mononym Mythology.

Earlier this month, Metallica's M72 World Tour burst onto the big screen at Canadian cinemas as part of two live broadcasts from Arlington, Texas.

Experiencing concerts through film

"Pop music has a huge history of being in theatres, whether you're talking about A Hard Day's Night and all The Beatles films in the '60s or, you know, Purple Rain in '84," said Urbanek.

The resurgence of films centered around concerts can be traced back to Canadian pop star Justin Bieber's Never Say Never,  which premiered in 2011, she said.

The movie followed Bieber during the 10 days leading up to his performance at Madison Square Garden.

Since then, we've seen stars throughout the 2010s like Katy Perry, One Direction and even Celine Dion, try their hand at the concert movie.

But as streaming sites became more popular, the trend of concert films being released in theatres slowed.

taylor swift eras tour film canada

Musicians embracing mini-residencies over mega tours

Urbanek points to examples like Beyoncé's Homecoming on Netflix, Kendrick Lamar's The Big Steppers Tour  on Amazon Prime and even Taylor Swift's earlier concert film from her Reputation tour, which appeared on Netflix.

But now, concert films releasing in theatres appear to be making a comeback, said Urbanek.

"It's like we're getting back in the direction of another one of those waves," she added.

The unique thing about the Eras tour movie, says Urbanek, is its timing. The movie is set to release on Oct. 13. Setting aside the fact the 13 is famously Swift's favourite number, Urbanek noted another interesting aspect at play.

"That's more than a year before the tour will end. So Canadians will get to see this concert film a whole year before she brings the show to Canada," she said.

"It might turn out to mean that the show is about to be tweaked."

These mysteries are all part of what experts say has become a winning marketing strategy for Swift.

Marketing 'genius'

From hidden meanings behind lyrics, to anagrams, to cryptic social media posts, Swift has always kept her fans guessing about what's coming next.

One 2021 post from Swift's Instagram, for example, teased song titles from "the vault" — new tracks on re-released Fearless (Taylor's Version)  album.

"She's always been very good at doing Easter eggs ... doing things that feel like they're really made for the fans," said Urbanek.

"She's a genius at social media marketing," Tsai told CBC News.

And this combination tour and film is no different.

"She's talked about how she wants them [fans] to wear Eras tour attire, friendship bracelets," said Urbanek. "So there's definitely this feeling that she's ... trying to replicate the experience of the show with this film."

The pop megastar will be in Toronto for six concerts over a 10-day period at the Rogers Centre in 2024.

"It's like our Super Bowl, it's our Olympics all rolled in one, all centred around Taylor Swift," added Tsai.

Canadian Taylor Swift Fans Finally Get to Experience the 'Eras Tour'

Taylor isn't coming for another year, but her concert film is doing big numbers across canada — especially in quebec, where everyone feels like they're front row..

Taylor Swift Eras Tour movie poster

Taylor Swift

She’s got good karma. For the second weekend in a row, Taylor Swift’s concert film The Eras Tour has dominated the domestic box office. The film broke records upon release, with the highest opening ever for a concert film, not adjusted for inflation, surpassing Justin Bieber’s Never Say Never . To date, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour has grossed around $130 million in North America, and that’s without screening from Mondays through Wednesdays.

For Canadian fans, this is their first chance to get a glimpse of the three-hour behemoth tour, which spans 17 years and 10 albums of her career. While the live tour began in March this year, it won’t arrive in Canada until November of 2024, where Swift is closing out the phenomenon with six performances at Toronto’s Rogers Centre. But it's not coming to Quebec (or anywhere else in Canada as of yet) at all, which makes it a unique experience for fans there. In its first weekend, it brought in $92 million in North America, and $650,000 in Quebec alone .

advertisement

The film has become a major communal experience everywhere, with clips of fans dancing in the aisles and belting along with the film showing up all over social media. But there seems to be a special energy in Canada, where fans have been making the most of Swift’s silver screen outing.

@alinecastro and that is how it went #taylorswift #theerastourmovie #theerastourcanada #montreal #montrealswifties

"It was a very surreal experience," says Saskia, a 29-year-old fan who attended a Montreal screening on Sunday. "I've never been to a screening where it was almost assumed that the audience would be singing, interjecting and standing up in the aisles to dance."

This celebratory atmosphere bridges the space between movie and live show. Talking to Billboard Canada , Saskia also noticed that everyone already seemed to know the order of the songs and the costumes accompanying each section. Eras Tour gives Swifties who have been following the tour from afar on TikTok the chance to experience it together, trading friendship bracelets and dressing up like their favourite Swift eras.

“Taylor never stops, and she does it all herself,” one fan told TVA in French. Another said that Swift has been her idol since she was 11 years old. Parents and kids have also been attending the screenings together, bonding over their shared love of the star.

Sandra, 38, took her daughter Lorelai to the Montreal screening instead of trying for hard-to-get Toronto tickets in 2024, TVA reports. “The tickets are very expensive,” Sandra explains.

Saskia agrees. "Knowing that going to the Eras Tour is out of reach financially and logistically for me and many other fans, this was a special chance to feel immersed in this spectacular performance."

Instead of working with a Hollywood distributor, Swift inked a deal directly with AMC theatres to screen the movie. The film is showing in nearly 4000 North American theatres, including Cineplex theatres in Canada as part of a sub-distribution partnership. It features footage from Swift’s Los Angeles shows at SoFi Stadium. Chock-full of chart toppers and outfit changes, the Eras Tour movie is a testament to Swift’s global superstardom and the many iterations of her artistry.

The movie begins with Swift in full popstar mode, belting “Cruel Summer” — which just went to No. 1 on the Hot 100, four years after its initial release. Over its two hour and forty five minute runtime, Swift takes the crowd back to high school with Fearless ’s “You Belong With Me”; dons a Disney princess dress for Speak Now ’ s “Enchanted”; enacts a domestic drama around Evermore ’s “Tolerate It”; strips things back for a rousing acoustic version of Midnights ’ “You’re On Your Own Kid”; and performs the full ten minute version of “All Too Well” in a dazzling floor-length red coat. Across each era, Swift’s core strength as a storyteller comes through.

In between planning and performing one of the best-selling tours of all time, Swift has also been re-recording her discography. The next installment, 1989 (Taylor’s Version), is set to arrive on Oct. 27.

Another major 2023 tour will also get the cinematic treatment this December: Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour will premiere as Renaissance: A Film by Beyon c é . If it's at all like Eras Tour , Montreal fans are probably already picking out their outfits.

The music licensing non-profit is calling on the federal government to update the Copyright Act with measures to help increase royalties for Canadian artists.

There's a new campaign that wants to change the way that artists receive royalties for their music.

Re:Sound, the non-profit that collects performance royalties for Canadian artists and labels, is calling on the federal government to include changes that would help improve royalties in the upcoming federal budget.

The organization has launched a letter campaign advocating for three proposed action items all focused on the Copyright Act and how it governs the licensing of Canadian recorded works.

First, Re:Sound wants the government to alter the definition of "sound recording" in the Act, so that audio-visual content that includes Canadian music would have to pay performance royalties for the use of those recordings. As Re:Sound explains it, Canadian rights-holders currently don't receive a performance royalty when their songs are used in movies, TV shows and online videos. Re:Sound is hoping to change that to give Canadian artists and labels another source of revenue.

Second, they're also calling for the elimination of the 1.25 million exemption for commercial radio broadcasters, which states that for a station's first $1.25 million in advertising revenue, it only has to pay $100 in performance royalties. The exemption was introduced in 1997 as a temporary measure, and other organizations like the Canadian Independent Musicians' Association (CIMA) have since recommended its elimination . The radio industry has undergone consolidation in Canada, they argue, and the exemption now primarily serves large corporations.

Third, Re:Sound urges the need to update the private copying regime (i.e. the rules around the act of making copies of your music collection for your own personal use) to account for technological changes.

These changes would aim to increase performance royalties at a time when Canadian artists are struggling with a high cost of living and limited ways to earn a living from music.

"As a Canadian music creator, I see what it's like for my peer artists who are struggling during these hard economic times," explains singer-songwriter, CBC host and Re:Sound board member Florence K.

Other Canadian music organizations have also been sounding the alarm about these challenges. A collective of Quebec arts organizations, including the Guilde des musiciens et musiciennes du Québec, recently sent a letter to Premier François Legault calling for a re-evaluation of public funding for the arts. "Quebec artists and artisans continue to be impoverished, generating a crisis of confidence in the various public institutions of our cultural industry ecosystem," the letter states. "For some, it has become impossible to practice their craft with dignity."

CIMA has been advocating for increased government contribution to the Canada Music Fund, which supports the granting body FACTOR and, in doing so, provides funding to thousands of Canadian artists for creation, travel, and more. Meanwhile, independent Canadian radio broadcasters are making their own appeal to the government, calling for specific measures in the 2024 budget to assist local radio, like dedicated government ad spends and tax incentives for advertisers.

Re:Sound emphasizes that their proposals are market-based and require no additional funding from the government. They're calling for legislative changes which they say would bring Canada up-to-date with the copyright standards of 40 other countries. Some researchers argue, though, that copyright laws are not always helpful to artists , namely because not all artists necessarily hold the rights to their work.

Before 1997, radio broadcasters and companies weren't required to pay performance royalties for public use of copyrighted recordings in Canada. They paid publishing royalties, which go towards songwriters, while performance royalties go towards the actual musicians on the record (or other parties that hold the rights to the recordings, like labels). Re:Sound was founded in 1997 in response to these changes (then as the Neighbouring Rights Collective of Canada) and today works with member organizations to distribute royalty payments to musicians, as well as licensing businesses to play recorded music and advocating for musicians and rights-holders.

Taylor Swift: Reputation Stadium Tour

Did you know

  • Trivia Taylor Swift had the idea for a concert movie in 2022, but none of the major film distributors (Warner Bros, Disney, Sony Universal, Paramount, etc) showed any interest. However, feedback from her worldwide fan base on social media indicated a lot of interest from fans who had never seen her live. In a calculated gamble, Swift decided to distribute the film through her own company at her own expense. The gamble paid off relatively quickly as the film was a massive box office success worldwide.
  • Goofs Taylor's hair position changes between shots throughout the whole film. Over shoulder in one shot, behind shoulder in the next jump-cut shot, for example. But like any concert film cut together from multiple performances, this is inevitable.
  • Crazy credits Credits feature video clips of fans from before the shows & outtakes of things that went wrong on stage throughout the tour, all set to "Long Live (Taylor's Version)".

Taylor Swift Eras Tour Concert Film Coming to Movie Theaters

A theatrical version of the billion-dollar tour — a cultural juggernaut that just ended its North American leg — opens Oct. 13.

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, the billion-dollar juggernaut that has dominated the cultural calendar this year, may be on a break before picking up internationally, but its momentum will only rest so long: The show is coming to movie theaters this fall.

“Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” concert film will be released in the United States, Canada and Mexico on Oct. 13, Swift announced on social media Thursday, with U.S. AMC Theaters promising at least four showtimes per day from Thursday to Sunday upon opening.

“The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful, electric experience of my life so far and I’m overjoyed to tell you that it’ll be coming to the big screen soon,” Swift said. “Eras attire, friendship bracelets, singing and dancing encouraged.”

Anticipating the white-hot demand that has followed the tour since its announcement, crashing ticketing systems around the world , AMC promised in a news release that it had “bolstered its ticket server capacity to handle traffic at more than 5 times the current record for the most ever tickets sold in an hour.” (The company added, however, that it was “also aware that no ticketing system in history seems to have been able to accommodate the soaring demand from Taylor Swift fans when tickets are first placed on sale.”)

Tickets are on sale now. Prices start at $19.89 for adults and $13.13 for children, substantially less than what fans paid for the tour itself — especially on the robust secondary market — as the concert industry adjusts to sometimes prohibitively high costs for its biggest events .

Swift, 33, wrapped this year’s North American dates with four shows in Mexico last week. Her downtime, though, will be brief. In addition to the movie version of the concert, the singer will release “1989 (Taylor’s Version),” the fourth of rerecorded original albums, two weeks later, on Oct. 27. By November, the Eras Tour will pick up in Argentina before traveling around the world in 2024, with dates — including nine additional U.S. shows — continuing into November 2024.

“1989 (Taylor’s Version),” the new edition of her 2014 pop blockbuster, marks Swift’s seventh release in barely three years, a period of artistic productivity that has fueled pent-up, post-pandemic demand for the singer’s live show. Jon Caramanica, a critic for The New York Times, said in a review of the first concert in March that the Eras Tour put on display “how many pivots Swift has undertaken in her career, and how the accompanying risks can have wildly different consequences.”

The trade publication Pollstar has estimated that the singer sold about $14 million in tickets for each show so far. By the end of next year, the 146 stadium dates could reach $1.4 billion or more in sales.

Swifties, get ready to “Shake It Off” to the entire Eras Tour at home!

Taylor Swift ’s Eras Tour concert film is making its streaming debut exclusively on Disney+ on March 14, and in anticipation of the upcoming release, a new trailer for the project dropped on Monday.

The streaming version, which has been dubbed Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) features the full set of the pop superstar’s career-spanning, three-and-a-half-hour-long concert for the first time — and the preview offers a brief preview of the new footage.

The new clip teases that the film will feature “four additional acoustic songs” — which Swift, 34, herself previously shared when she announced the movie’s streaming release — but reveals one of them to be “Maroon.”

Disney Enterprises, Inc

The Grammy winner sits down at the piano in a red gown and says, “This is one of my favorites,” while smiling and playing the opening notes of the Midnights track.

“This has been the most extraordinary experience of my entire life,” Swift exclaims at one point in the teaser.

“I’ll be your host this evening. My name is Taylor and welcome to the Eras Tour!” she also says, as the trailer highlights shots of her performing in various ensembles and the show’s various spectacular theatrics, ranging from the Red and Lover eras to the folklore era.

The all-new trailer also reveals that the concert film directed by Sam Welch will hit streaming on Disney+ at 6 p.m. PT/9 p.m. ET on its March 14 release date.

The “Cruel Summer” singer announced her record-breaking concert film was coming to streaming last month, following its theatrical release in October of last year and on-demand release on her birthday in December.

While the openers and several songs were omitted for the original theatrical version and “The Archer,” “Long Live” and Wildest Dreams,” were added back in for the edition available to rent, the Disney+ exclusive version will mark the first time fans can experience the full set list put to screen.

When Swift told fans her concert film was making its streaming debut with a post on Instagram, she shared folklore fan-favorite “cardigan” had been added back in, among other songs. "For the first time we’ll be showing the entire concert (including “cardigan”, plus 4 additional songs from the acoustic section!!)," she wrote in the caption of a post featuring the movie’s poster, "and I’m calling it, huge shock, 'Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version).'"

The singer-songwriter also wrote, “This week is truly the best kind of chaos. I’m thrilled to let you know I’ve found a streaming home for The Eras Tour Concert Film, and that home will be @disneyplus.”

The “Karma” singer’s concert film was originally shot over the course of three of her tour stops at Los Angeles’ SoFi stadium in August 2023.

Immediately after its release, the movie became a global box office phenomenon, grossing over $260 million worldwide at the global box office and smashing records to become the top selling concert film of all-time .

TAYLOR SWIFT | THE ERAS TOUR

Taylor Swift is one of the biggest names in the music industry. Her 2022 album Midnights marked the tenth entry into her impressive discography and kickstarted the beginning of her Eras tour in March 2023. While on tour across the United States and Mexico, the 12-time Grammy winner pleasantly surprised fans on August 31 with an announcement of the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert movie. Tickets went on sale (and immediately sold out) that same day.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour movie is clearly the hottest event of this fall season. Here is everything you need to know about it movie before heading to the theater.

The Eras tour takes audiences on a captivating musical journey spanning all of Taylor Swift’s unique "eras", paying homage to each of her albums. These albums are 2006's Taylor Swift, Fearless in 2008, 2010's Speak Now, Red in 2012, 1989 in 2014, 2017's Reputation, Lover in 2019, 2020's Folkmore and Evermore, and Midnights in 2022. The movie offers audiences the opportunity to experience the wildly anticipated concert they might not have had the chance to see in person. As shown in the concert movie, this huge Los Angeles venue drew an astounding crowd of nearly half a million fans.

As the official concert movie for her Eras Tour, Taylor Swift wants fans to have an authentic concert experience when watching the movie in theaters. When she initially announced it on X, Taylor suggested  that fans should dress up in their best Eras attire, wear friendship bracelets and participate in singing and dancing, just like they would at a live show: "The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful, electric experience of my life so far and I’m overjoyed to tell you that it’ll be coming to the big screen soon.  Starting Oct 13th you’ll be able to experience the concert film in theaters in North America! Where can I watch Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour?

If you are in the united states:.

AMC theaters have entered into an exclusive agreement with Swift, allowing only their locations in the United States to screen The Eras Tour movie starting October 13. Canadian theaters will screen the movie as well.

Within minutes of theater tickets for Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour being released, the AMC app crashed with fans attempting to buy advance tickets for the movie. This marks the second instance this year where Swifties caused a major website to malfunction, with the first being during the sale for the actual Eras Tour itself. AMC is currently promoting exciting additions for your cinematic experience including Eras Tour-themed popcorn buckets for $14.99+tax and drink cups for $11.99+tax. Exclusive cardigans have, unfortunately, still not been announced.

If you are outside of the United States:

On Tuesday 26th September, 2023, tickets for the official Eras tour concert movie were announced in over 100 countries around the world. Taylor Swift made the announcement on Instagram, sharing that the film will be in theaters in those countries from October 13, 2023.

"The tour isn’t the only thing we’re taking worldwide…….. 🌎 Been so excited to tell you all that The Eras Tour concert film is now officially coming to theaters WORLDWIDE on Oct 13! Tickets available now at www.TSTheErasTourFilm.com or on your local theaters website!"

Tickets were available immediately after the Instagram post went live. AMC have struck a deal with sub-distribution partners for more than 7,500 movie theatres in order to show the film in theaters around the world. Across Europe, the concert movie will be playing at Odeon theaters. Odeon also announced a special pricing for the event:

"In a nod to Taylor Swift’s 1989 album and her favourite number, 13, tickets in the UK and Ireland will be priced at £19.89 / €19.89 for adults and £13.13 / €13.13 for children."

Will The Eras Tour be on Netflix?

Despite the concert movie's cinematic release on October 13, there has been no announcement about where to stream Taylor Swift: The Era Tour online. Until further notice, the movie is available exclusively in theaters. However, given the record-breaking demand for tickets, it is very likely fans will be able to watch The Eras Tour on streaming services after its theatrical run ends.

You can choose to get notified by JustWatch when a streaming release date is announced by heading to Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour and hitting the notification bell.

How long is Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour?

While an Eras Tour concert typically lasts over three hours on average, the official length of the concert movie is 2 hours and 40 minutes. This makes it much longer than previous Taylor Swift concert movies, such as Taylor Swift: Reputation Stadium Tour which is 2 hours and 5 mins.

Who is the director of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour?

Grammy-nominated Sam Wrench is the director of the upcoming concert movie. He earned the coveted nomination for directing Billie Eilish Live At The O2 in 2023. Wrench is best known for his ability in capturing the electrifying essence of a live music event, having also worked on  Lizzo: Live in Concert and BTS: Permission to Dance on Stage - LA . He boasts an impressive resume filled with projects from some of the biggest names in the industry including Mary J. Blige, The Weeknd, Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande.

What records did Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour break?

Taylor Swift just keeps adding to her impressive list of record-breaking achievements. The Eras Tour movie shattered the record for the most money made from advance ticket sales in a single day at AMC Theaters, raking in a whopping $26 million. This surpasses the previous record-holder, 2021's  Spider-Man: No Way Home , by $10 million. Fans achieved this record-breaking feat in just three hours, beating  Avengers: Endgame 's record for the most tickets sold within the first 24 hours.

The Eras Tour movie is expected to have an incredible opening weekend, with a projected range of $100-125 million. The top five movies for the year's opening weekends include Barbie , The Super Mario Bros. Movie , Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse , Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania . These range between between $162 million to $106 million, which means the upcoming concert movie has the potential to have one of the best opening weekends of 2023.

Furthermore, the sudden announcement of the movie's release date caused other titles to change their release dates. The Exorcist: Believer , originally slated for the same day, will now premiere a week earlier. Producer Jason Blum playfully tweeted, "Look what you made me do. The Exorcist: Believer moves to 10/6/23.”

What are the other Taylor Swift concert movies?

For those who simply cannot calm down before the release of the movie, there have been a number of projects featuring exclusive access to Swift’s concerts that are available to watch right now. These include The 1989 World Tour Live, which was released on Apple Music in 2015, and 2018’s Taylor Swift: Reputation Stadium Tour which is available to stream on Netflix. There were also DVD releases of Taylor Swift: Journey to Fearless in 2010 and Speak Now World Tour – Live the following year.

Swifties alike must ultimately tolerate this Cruel wait with their Gorgeous Style they know Belongs to them. On the Bejeweled side, there are only a few weeks left before they are united by the greatest Love Story on the big screen: Taylor Swift with her Swifties. They are undeniably Ready For It.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour will be released in theaters on October 13, 2023.

The Eras Tour concert film is finally hitting streaming on March 14.

Disney Plus is entering its Swiftie era. The streamer will be the exclusive home of the newest version of Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour concert film, beginning the evening of March 14 -- a couple of hours earlier than originally expected.

Swift announced that fans would be able to stream the film at home earlier than expected, moving up the release time to Thursday night, March 14. The first version of The Eras Tour movie came out in theaters, where it was the  highest-grossing concert film , as reported by Variety. Then it was available for rent on demand. Disney Plus is already home to another Taylor Swift exclusive, Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions , a series that chronicles the making of her 2020 album Folklore. Swift's other documentaries and concert films have been available sporadically on various streaming services, including  Netflix  and Prime Video.

Are you ready for it ? If not, we've got you covered. Here's how to watch The Eras Tour (Taylor's Version), and why a VPN may be a useful tool for streaming.

Disney Plus is the one-stop streaming location for the company's streaming catalog. Subscribers can stream Disney classics, Marvel Studios movies and TV shows and all new Star Wars content.

What's new in the Disney Plus version of the film

Disney Plus' version of the flick will feature Swift's performance of Cardigan, which was previously cut from the theatrical release of the movie, and four additional acoustic songs, although it's not clear yet what those songs might be. Swift recorded six acoustic songs during filming in August, and the performances of Our Song and You're on Your Own, Kid made both the theatrical and on-demand rental versions of the film. That means acoustic performances of I Can See You, Maroon, You Are in Love and Death by a Thousand Cuts could be featured in the newest version of the film.

Songs excluded from the Disney Plus cut of the movie include Long Live, The Archer, Wildest Dreams and No Body, No Crime.

How to stream the film using a VPN

Perhaps you're traveling abroad and want to stream The Eras Tour (Taylor's Version) while away from home. With a VPN, you're able to virtually change your location on your phone, tablet or laptop to get access to the movie from anywhere in the world. We recommend ExpressVPN, but you may opt for another provider from our best list such as Surfshark or NordVPN .

“Midnights” fans, rejoice: “Maroon” is one of the four bonus acoustic songs included in the Disney+ version of “ Taylor Swift : The Eras Tour .”

At the end of a trailer Disney+ dropped on Monday, the first few notes of “Maroon” can be heard, revealing that the track is one of the surprise acoustic songs included in the concert film’s streaming edition.

“Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” is also debuting on Disney+ one day earlier than previously planned, on March 14 at 6 p.m. PT.

Since the “Eras Tour” film was shot during Swift’s three-night residency at L.A.’s SoFi Stadium, it can be expected that the other bonus tunes included are the remaining three acoustic “surprise songs” she performed: “Death by a Thousand Cuts,” “You Are in Love” and “I Can See You.”

“Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” pulled in $261.7 million at the global box office after its Oct. 13 debut, making it the highest-grossing concert film to date. The film was released digitally via Universal Pictures on Dec. 13, Swift’s birthday. That version included three bonus songs not seen in theaters: “Wildest Dreams,” “The Archer” and “Long Live.”

In addition to “cardigan,” the extended version of the singer-songwriter’s The Eras Tour will also include four additional acoustic performances that were not included in the theatrical release. Apart from The Eras Tour, Swift has previously partnered with Disney+ with the release of Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions back in 2020.

How well did The Eras Tour perform at the box office?

The Eras Tour has achieved remarkable records at the box office, with an opening weekend that has managed to garner over $123 million internationally. The numbers that The Eras Tour has acquired made it one of the most successful concert movies of all time, having received critical acclaim from several review aggregators.

Directed by Emmy-winning filmmaker Sam Wrench , The Eras Tour is billed as the pop singer’s “most meaningful, electric experience,” which brought fans (or Swifites) on a musical journey spanning the singer’s ten eras and ten studio albums. This includes Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, reputation, Lover, folklore, evermore, Midnights, and her self-titled album.

Out of the singer’s first six albums, four have received the “Taylor’s Version” treatment, with reputation and her first-ever studio album awaiting respective release dates.

Taylor Swift announces 'Eras Tour' concert film will be released early. How to watch

Fans of Taylor Swift will be able to stream an updated version of the singer's concert film a few hours earlier than expected.

Disney+ announced March 4 that the film, with the song "Cardigan" and four additional acoustic tracks, will be available to watch on its streaming service starting 9 p.m. ET on March 14. The news was also shared on Taylor Swift's social media accounts.

"Her name is Taylor, and she’ll be your host a few hours earlier than expected! Join us March 14 at 9pm ET to watch," Swift's team said in a March 4 post on X .

In a new trailer, which was released the same day, "Maroon" appears to be one of the four new acoustic set songs.

Swift previously announced on social media last month that a new version of the film will be available on the subscription-based streaming platform beginning March 15. She added that the new film will feature extra songs not shown in the original version.

"This week is truly the best kind of chaos," she began her post on Feb. 7, seemingly referencing her announcement of an upcoming album , "The Tortured Poets Department," multiple Grammy wins and her tour resuming in Tokyo.

"For the first time we’ll be showing the entire concert (including “cardigan”, plus 4 additional songs from the acoustic section!!) and I’m calling it, huge shock, 'Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version),'" she wrote. "Available starting March 15 which is actually very 🔜😆🫶"

After a record-breaking run in theaters, an extended version of Swift's film was made available to rent on various digital platforms Dec. 13, 2023, for the price of $19.89. The specific price was set as such to honor “the legendary artist’s birth year and the title of her Grammy Award-winning album ‘1989,’” according to a press release.

The Golden Globe-nominated "Eras Tour" film has been available to rent from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, on platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Apple, Vudu, Xfinity, YouTube TV and Google TV, according to a press release. This move to Disney+ will make viewing the newer version subscription-based rather than paying per 48-hour rental.

(Universal Pictures Home Entertainment is part of TODAY's parent company, NBCUniversal.)

Swift’s “Eras Tour” concert film hit the big screen in more than 100 countries on Oct. 13, and fans who couldn’t snag a ticket to the tour now have a chance to watch the singer’s career-spanning performance in movie theaters across the globe.

Swift announced the "Eras Tour" concert film in August, and less than a month later, AMC said it took less than 24 hours for her film to shatter the company's U.S. record for highest ticket-sales revenue in a single day.

“With such overwhelming demand being evident, it became obvious that there should be an immediate worldwide release of the film,” AMC said in a Sept. 26 press release.

Will fans be able to stream 'Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour'?

Yes, Swifties have been able to rent the film from home since Dec. 13.

Fans can find the "Eras Tour" movie on digital platforms with rentals available like Amazon Prime Video, Apple, Vudu, Xfinity, YouTube TV and Google TV, according to a press release.

The movie will cost $19.89 to rent (suggested prices may vary by retailer), a nod to Swift's wildly successful album "1989."

Starting on March 14, the film will be available to stream on Disney+ for subscribers.

The concert film won't be the last chance for Swifties to see the "Eras Tour" in real life either: Swift has international tour dates throughout Asia, Australia and Europe through August 2024.

The singer also added additional U.S. and Canadian dates in late 2024.
