The 21 Most Instagrammable Places in Boston (2022 Guide with Map)

' loading=

There are so many great places to visit around this world, and when you travel, you’re wanting to capture those Instagrammable shots. Well, on our recent trip to Boston, we discovered that there are plenty of Instagrammable spots in Boston that you’ll want to capture, but it all comes down to if you have enough time.

On our family trip to Boston, we found such rich history and wished we had the time to see it all. But I was able to stop at a few places and capture some amazing shots that I am really excited to share with you all.

Before arriving in Boston, I made a list of all of the places that I wanted to visit, and with the itinerary we had, I actually discovered places that I didn’t think to add to my list of Instagrammable places in Boston previously.

So let’s just say that list went out the window a little bit, but even though I didn’t get to visit all of the places, I kept them as note to provide you with this extensive guide that you can use to tour around Boston and grab your shot. I’ve also included a map to give you easy ability to navigate to all of the places. Pro Tip : Use the Boston Trolly to get around Boston and reach all of these places for a small fee.

Map of LOCATIONS IN BOSTON

1. boston public library.

The Boston Public Library was the first free municipal library in America with the original building actually being a school house. Today, you can walk into the Boston Public Library and find yourself in the “old library” or the “new library” depending on where you enter. Bates Hall is easily accessed on the top floor after you’ve climbed the grand, beautiful staircase. But keep note that Babes Hall is a reading room where you’ll find many students studying.

2. Rouvalis Flowers

Beacon Hill is filled with such amazing areas to take photos including the famous Rouvalis Flowers. It’s a beautiful and iconic flower shop and because the florals being sold are seasonal each time you visit, you’ll have a new display to take photos in front of. Looking at some of the other Instagram photos of others who visited Boston and took photos at Rouvalis, it looks like we all visited different locations because each time there have been different arrangements.

3. Acorn Street

Located in Beacon Hill, you’ll find Acorn Street. It is one of the most photographed streets in Boston and is one of the few streets left in Boston that is still made of cobblestone. There are so many unique shots that you can take on this street as you find yourself walking up and down it. It’s so quaint and adorable, and it’s a must stop place in Boston.

4. Louisburg Square

Louisburg Square is another must visit place in Beacon Hill. This residential area sits right near Acorn Street and is less than a two minute walk. It has amazing brownstones that is surrounded by scenic greenery with some of the brownstones being covered with with beautiful ivy and florals. The roads in front of the brownstones are cobblestone so not only are the photos beautiful in front of the houses, but they are great while standing on the street.

5. Boston Public Garden

The Boston Public Garden is a place where you’ll end up in no matter how much you try to walk away from it, but it’s a gorgeous place for not only visiting to take photos, but to relax and enjoy the activities in the area. In the center of the park, you can take a little ride on the swans that take you around the man-made pond during the warmer months. You can also take photos with the beautiful bridge, around the beautiful florals, near the duckling statues, or almost in any corner of the park.

6. Mary Baker Eddy Library

The Mary Baker Eddy Library is another location to visit because of it’s scenic outdoors such as visiting the Christian Science Fountain Plaza, and the beauty of the architecture that you’ll find indoors. At the library, you’ll be able to go and experience the mapparium – which is a stained glass globe that you are able to walk into and listen to a little show. Inside the mapparium, you are not able to take photos or video, but there is a “selfie wall” set up outside that you can take photos. The show is one that you have to experience and it is quite beautiful. But also, don’t limit yourself to just that selfie wall and the mapparium, make sure to look around the entire library and marvel at its beauty.

7. Seaport District

If you’re staying in the Seaport District, I recommend walking around the area during one of the days and not only get a lay of the land and visit some of the great places to eat and grab some drinks, but also to find some of the back roads and picturesque areas to take some amazing shots. You’ll find an array of backdrops such as brick buildings, the water way, scenic building backgrounds, and so much more.

8. Harborwalk

Along the waterfront, you can walk the Boston Harborwalk. This 43-mine linear park alongside the shoreline is found on both sides of the river and connects you to museums, parks, beaches, hotels, stores and restaurants. Depending on which side you are on, you can get a different type of shot. If you’re on the side near the Intercontinental Hotel, you’ll get a backdrop of the Seaport District and if you’re on the side near the Boston Children’s Museum, you’ll get a backdrop of downtown area.

Many people visit the museum to tour and view the amazing collection and to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere of the atrium. Marshall Street is another location in Boston that has cobblestone roads. Here, you can find Boston’s oldest restaurant, the Union Oyster House, and the oldest bar in the United States, the Bell In Hand Tavern. • November 20, 2019
 • Lifestyle , Most Instagrammable , Travel

Are you looking for Boston’s most instagrammable places? Here are 12 of Boston’s best Instagram worthy spots.

Emma's Edition

Last weekend, Karya and I traveled to Boston for the first time. We’ve been traveling together this past year exploring different cities in the US and building Instagram guides. We both put Boston on our travel bucket list at the beginning of 2019 so we were excited to visit this historic city. We researched, scrolled through Instagram and we decided to visit some of Boston’s Most Instagrammable places.

Streets of Boston

Here are 12 of Boston’s Most Instagrammable Places:

1. the hello boston mural at primark.

Primark USA in Downtown Boston

Address: 10 Summer Street Boston MA 02110

Have you ever shopped at Primark before? This Dublin based retailer opened its store in Boston in 2015. You can find this mural at the entrance of the store. Karya and I picked up a few things at Primark and then snapped some photos on the way out of the store.

2. Brattle Book Shop

Boston Most Instagrammable Places_Brattle Bookshop_2

Address: 9 West Street Boston MA 02111

The Brattle Book Shop originally opened in 1825. It’s one of the oldest and largest antiquarian book shops in the United States. The bookshop has been owned by the Gloss family since 1949. You can find over 250,000 books, prints, maps, and other products.

One of the coolest thing about the bookshop is the outdoor area where books are sold. You can find discount books between $1 and $5.

3. Citrus & Salt

Boston Most Instagrammable Places_Citrus and Salt_1

Address: 142 Berkeley Street Boston MA 02116

If you’re looking for an Instagram worthy restaurant in Boston, you have to check out Citrus & Salt. The pink walls, the lights, the chairs, and even the bathrooms are adorable. This coastal Mexican restaurant was one of my favorite food stops in Boston.

Karya and I stopped here for a late lunch. We grabbed chips, guacamole, and lobster tacos. The food was delicious! Just a warning though – this restaurant gets really busy on the weekends. We highly recommend setting up a reservation if you plan to go between Friday-Sunday.

I also recommend stopping by the bathrooms! One bathroom has really dark skull wallpaper and the other bathroom has this fun decal on the mirror plus this white skull/floral wallpaper.

4. The Revolution Hotel

Address: 40 Berkeley St, Boston, MA 02116

During my weekend in Boston, I collaborated and stayed with the Revolution Hotel. I absolutely loved the co-working space at the lower level of the hotel. I also loved the white telephone, typewriters, and other machine and Knick knacks installment on the lobby.

5. Boston Public Library

Bates Hall inside Boston Library

Address: 700 Boylston Street Boston MA 02116

The Boston Public Library was established in 1848 as the first free municipal library in America. While the original building of the Boston Public Library was a school house, a new location was commissioned in 1854. In 1858, the BPL opened its doors at 55 Boylston Street. The library was relocated and reopened at the corner of Boylston and Dartmouth in 1880.

Bates Hall is the iconic reading room on the second floor of the Boston Public Library. The room is named in honor of a London merchant banker Joshua Bates. He donated $100,000 to the library in 1852. I would recommend checking out Bates Hall and the outdoor courtyard!

6. Acorn Street

Best photo spots in Boston

Address: Acorn Street Boston MA 01208

If you’re looking for one of the best photo spots in Boston, I recommend stopping by Beacon Hill and checking out Acorn Street. This adorable street is one of the few places to have actual cobblestones on the street. In the 19 th century, this street was home to artisans and trades people.

7. Louisburg Square

Address: 10 Louisburg Square 01208

Just up the street from Acorn Street is Louisburg Square. The square was named after the 1745 Battle of Louisbourg. The Greek revival homes in the square housed the upper class in Beacon Hill in the 19 th century.

8. Faneuil Hall Market Place

Best photo spots in Boston - photo locations in Boston - things to see in Boston

Address: 206 S Market Boston MA 01209

Can you believe Fanuil Hall opened in the mid 1700s? Boston’s wealthiest merchant Peter Faneuil built the marketplace as a gift to Boston. Today there are four major areas that create Faneuil Hall: the Quincy Market (where this dome is located), North Market, South Market, and of course Faneuil Hall.

If you’re looking for a place to eat or shop, I recommend stopping by Faneuil Hall!

9. Café Susu in Suitsupply

Address: 240A Newbury St, Boston, MA 02116

If you’re looking for an Instagrammable coffee shop in Boston, I highly recommend stopping by Café Susu in the basement of Suitsupply. I was so excited when I found this spot on Yelp.

Karya and I ended up grabbing avocado salmon toast and tea for breakfast Sunday morning. We came right at 10:30am when they opened and had about 10-15 min to ourselves to take photos while we waited for our food.

10. Isabella Gardner Museum

Best photo spots in Boston - Emma's Edition

Address: 25 Evans Way Boston MA 02115

The Isabella Gardner Museum was one of my favorite stops in Boston. Isabella began building this museum in 1899 and completed the project in 1901. She personally arranged the works of arts in the first three floors of the museum and lived on the fourth floor.

Isabella had an impressive collection of paintings, sculptures, rare books, and other art pieces. You can learn more about Isabella’s history on the museum website .

11. Mapparium in the Mary Baker Eddy Library

Things to see in Boston - Things to do in Boston

Address: 200 Massachusetts Ave Boston MA 02115

Full disclosure – you CANNOT take photos inside the giant globe of the Mapparium. They do have a selfie wall you can take photos in front of. I still wanted to include Mapparium on the list because it was such a cool experience to step into a massive glass globe with a map of the 1930s.

12. Boston Public Gardens

Emma's Edition - winter outfit ideas

Address: 4 Charles Street Boston MA 02116

I didn’t realize that the Boston Public Gardens included the Boston Common, the Public Garden (one of the oldest botanical gardens in the US), and the Commonwealth Avenue Mall. Karya and I walked over the bridge and got to enjoy the last of the fall colors all around the park.

I hope you found this list of Boston’s most instagrammable places helpful!

15 Most Instagrammable Places In Boston

Table of Contents

Happy August! This blog post is going to cover the most Instagrammable places in Boston! Boston has been my home for the past 23 years, although I’ve gotten to know the city especially well this past year. I’ve spent the past year exploring Boston more than ever before, and even became a tour guide through Airbnb , guiding people from around the world along the Freedom Trail on my History and Photo Tour ! Unfortunately, I have to put these tours on pause for awhile because I’m moving to Charleston, SC for grad school, but hopefully I’ll pick them back up at some point. Boston is such a charming, historical city with so many hidden gems. I highly recommend walking around and exploring on foot. Hopefully this guide of the most Instagrammable places in Boston gives you some fun photo ideas for your visit!

Disclaimer: This blog post is sponsored by Staypinneapple Boston , a boutique hotel chain located in Boston’s South End neighborhood. I stayed here in July and created some content for them, and am working with them on this post! I highly recommend staying here next time you’re in Boston. As always, all opinions written below are my own.

1. Union Park

Located in Boston’s South End neighborhood, Union Park sits in one of the most charming streets in Boston. Here you’ll find rows and rows of brownstones, neighborhood parks, and even the occasional french bulldog!

2. Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum

This is my favorite museum in the world! Isabella Stewart Gardner was a modern-day girl boss, traveling the world solo and building up her own pristine art collection. After she passed, this museum opened in her honor and features her entire collection. The museum wraps around a center atrium that has been featured in several travel publications in the past. It’s definitely the most Instagrammable place in Boston!

Pro-tip: Watch “This Is A Robbery” on Netflix before visiting to learn about the art heist that happened here in 1990!

3. Acorn Street

Acorn Street is the official most photographed street in Boston. Trust me, I’m a tour guide… this is a fact! You can’t leave Boston without strolling through Beacon Hill and snapping a photo here.

Fun fact: Notice the divots near the curb on either side? These tracks aren’t from car tires, but wagon wheels! This road is over 200 years old and is one of the only original streets in Boston. I think it really adds to the charm of the neighborhood!

4. Fan Pier

Fan Pier is located in Boston’s newest neighborhood, the Seaport! This area is super fun to grab a drink in and offers a great view of the Boston harbor and skyline. Stroll along Fan Pier for this photo.

5. Cisco Brewers

Cisco sits along Seaport Blvd right in the Seaport District and is the perfect place to grab a drink. This beer garden also makes for a fun photo opportunity.

Pro-tip: There’s no happy hour deals in Boston, so don’t expect a discount at 5! You can expect a line though.

6. Tatte Bakery

This local chain definitely wins the award for the most Instagrammable place in Boston in terms of restaurants! The white interior + aesthetically pleasing lattes won’t disappoint if you’re a coffee lover.

7. Old State House

Even if the interior of the Old State House isn’t super Instagrammable , this shot definitely is! Stand on the corner of State Street and Congress Street to grab this shot. I always point it out to people on my tour!

8. Marshall Street Mural

Welcome to my favorite little street in Boston! This cobblestone road separates the Union Oyster House, the oldest restaurant in Boston, from Bell In Hand Tavern, the oldest bar in the US! Everyone on my tour says it reminds them of London, as it’s lined with old pubs and historical charm. There’s also a cute mural of Boston here! Marshall Street is definitely a top contender for the most Instagrammable place in Boston!

9. Ogawa Coffee

This coffee shop on Milk Street in downtown Boston is amazing year-round, but I definetly recommend adding this place to your fall New England bucket list ! Ogawa is known for its seasonal latte designs!

10. Lookout Rooftop @ Envoy

Lookout Rooftop is Boston’s most popular rooftop and is a great place to visit for drinks or a special occasion. I recommend coming to this hotel at night to grab one of the best shots of Boston’s skyline!

11. Worcester Street

Another street in the South End that is probably tied with Beacon Hill for being the most Instagrammable place in Boston. Worcester Street is home to the most Instagrammable house in Boston (really, this is its official title). Want to visit? Plug 140 Worcester Street into your GPS. Remember to be respectful of locals while taking photos.

12. Rouvalis Flower Shop

Ok… I know I’ve said this about most places on this list, but THIS may actually be the most Instagrammable place in Boston. Rouvalis Flower Shop in Beacon Hill is the cutest little flower shop. They offer seasonal arrangements inside, and the exterior is just as precious. This area reminds me SO much of Europe!

13. Louisburg Square

Yet another Beacon Hill hot spot. Louisburg Square sits just behind Acorn Street, up a hill a bit. This square is home to some of the most photographed brownstones in Boston. Visit during the holidays to see some local decor and notice how stunning the ivy is here!

14. Brattle Book Shop

Welcome to one of America’s oldest and largest historical bookstores! This 3-story building is filled with used books and magazines, and even a few rare 1st editions. You’ve probably seen the outdoor section of this bookstore online before…be sure to snap a pic in the stacks adjacent to the building!

15. Boston Public Garden

Last but not least is Boston’s Public Garden, one of Boston’s well-known public parks! The Public Garden sits adjacent to the Boston Common, America’s first public park, although the Public Garden is probably more visited. There’s a beautiful man-made pond here with a picturesque bridge running over it. I recommend taking photos both on the bridge, with the skyline in the back, and near the pond so you can capture the bridge in the back. If you visit Boston in the warmer months, you can see the Swan Boats here too!

PS. Don’t forget the check out the sweet Make Way For Ducklings statue here!

And now for the sponsor of today’s blog post, Staypineapple! Staypineapple is a boutique, trendy hotel chain located in the US with locations in Boston, New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, San Diego, Portland, and Seattle. This hotel has one of the most playful, up-beat brands I’ve seen for a property and the most elegant rooms. I particularly enjoyed the Boston property because of the accommodating staff and ideal location. I showed up to this hotel 3 hours before my check-in time and they were able to store my bag for me, give me bottled water (it’s been a hot summer here in Boston), and provide the best restaurant recommendations. The location here is also great as the hotel sits adjacent to the South End and Back Bay neighborhoods in Boston. This area is less touristy than the Faneuil Hall area, for example, but is still within walking distance of popular sites like Newbury Street, the Prudential and Copley Malls, and the Boston Common. If you plan on visiting Boston soon, be sure to consider Staypineapple !

The Best Instagram Spots in Boston Massachusetts

I’ve recently returned from a brilliant long weekend in Boston , and I am SO in love with that city! When I booked the flights I didn’t know all that much about Boston but Norwegian Air were having a huge sale and well, the rest is history. I’m going to put together a city guide detailing the best things to do and places to go etc. but I thought I’d kick off my mini Boston series with the best Instagram spots in the city. I don’t book trips based on Instagram potential, sure, that’s a bonus but I wasn’t expecting Boston to actually be so erm…Insta friendly. Gahh I hate myself. Anyway let’s take a look at the best Instagram spots in the beautiful city of Boston.

The Best Instagram Spots & Locations in Boston Massachusetts

Acorn street.

We stumbled across Acorn street when walking around the lovely Beacon Hill area, it’s basically just a super cute cobbled road with a slightly weathered American flag blowing in the breeze. I could tell this was an Insta hotspot when I noticed the ‘no commercial photography’ sign. As we were visiting on a very cold and drizzly May Day, it was off season and therefore very quiet. Don’t you just love an empty street when you’re trying to get ‘the shot’? I think Charlie did a pretty good job!

View this post on Instagram Acorn Street is one of Boston’s Instagram hotspots. I heard it can get super busy here over summer with grammers all trying to get ~the shot. Luckily for me we visited on a rainy May Day so other than the guy in a bright blue jacket that decided to stand in the middle of the street for no reason other than to ruin my pic I SWEAR 😂 it was empty! 🐿 A post shared by TILLY | Travel, Style & Life (@tillyjaynek) on May 18, 2019 at 3:49am PDT

Harvard University

I couldn’t not mention Harvard University in this list! Who do I think I am, Elle Woods? Yep. We decided to walk from our hotel (downtown Boston) to Harvard (Cambridge) which turned out to be a hella long journey, so my advice here friends is simply to get an Uber. It’s less than ten dollars and will save you from shin splints and exhaustion. There are tonnes of great Insta spots around the Harvard Campus with many a grand building to pose in front of.

View this post on Instagram What? Like, it’s hard? Another fun day in Boston yesterday wandering around Harvard University doing my best Elle Woods impression 👩🏼‍💻 today we’re heading to the Beacon Hill area of the city, and strolling down Newbury Street where I’ll probably buy too many Brandy Melville tees 🙈 A post shared by TILLY | Travel, Style & Life (@tillyjaynek) on May 14, 2019 at 4:23am PDT

Tatte Bakery

Tatte Bakery is a much-loved small chain of Boston based bakeries with very Instagram friendly interiors. Fresh, contemporary, with a rustic twist is how I would best describe them. They seemed to pop up everywhere we went in Boston and they were always packed with both locals and visitors. Charlie enjoyed a Tatte croissant on a morning stroll but unfortunately they didn’t do much in the way of vegan friendly options.

View this post on Instagram Another day in paradise… ✨💫🥐🍳☕️ Tatte Downtown Boston! Pic @sophiekrakoff A post shared by Tzurit Or (@tattebakery) on Apr 25, 2019 at 5:35am PDT

Fenway Park

Now, I’m not the biggest baseball fan by any means but there’s a certain buzz about heading to a game. Everyone is excited, it’s loud, overwhelming, and kinda fun! Fenway Park is the USA’s oldest baseball stadium , so we were excited to visit. We scored tickets for Red Sox vs Seattle Mariners for around $75 each and I of course had to get a few shots to mark the occasion. Fenway Park is pretty walkable from most parts of the city, from downtown it took us around 45 minutes, but if you’re already in the Newbury Street area then it’s not too far at all. Did I spent $10 on a foam finger just for an Instagram picture? Ha….maybe.

View this post on Instagram Three strikes and you’re out 🤨 my second baseball game last night (first was LA dodgers where I didn’t have a clue what was going on still don’t really). It’s 5am here, I was woken up by Charlie’s damn phone going off and I can’t get back to sleep so naturally I’m sitting on Instagram. Up and out early again though today to head to Cape Cod! ⚾️🇺🇸 #MyFenway #FenwayPark #RedSox A post shared by TILLY | Travel, Style & Life (@tillyjaynek) on May 11, 2019 at 3:05am PDT

Boston Common

Boston Common is a central public park located in downtown Boston. It’s a beautiful green space complete with water features, lakes and even a merry-go-round (this was unfortunately fenced off when we went otherwise I would definitely have got a shot!). Dating back to 1634, it’s the oldest public park in the United States. In the summer, it would be great to hire out one of the boats but it was pretty cold when we were visiting so we just had a stroll through. There’s plenty of photo opportunities and lots of flowers and bridges that would provide a very cute background.

View this post on Instagram Boston has completely blown my expectations out of the water. We booked this trip on a total whim after finding super cheap flights and it’s gone above and beyond my expectations (although not really sure what I was expecting to be honest!). The city is beautiful, and full of so much history 🇺🇸 There’s also tonnes to do in the surrounding areas and both Salem and Cape Cod were incredible 💯 would recommend. A post shared by TILLY | Travel, Style & Life (@tillyjaynek) on May 15, 2019 at 11:10am PDT

Beacon Hill

Beacon Hill was probably my favourite area of Boston, it has such an English feel which is probably why Boston is so popular with ex-pats. Think brown bricks, cobbled paths, boutiques and cute front doors! It’s an Instagram jackpot, and a beautiful location to enjoy an afternoon stroll. You could take it to the next level and complete your shot with a Harvard University jumper and be as cool as me. Lol.

View this post on Instagram American mom life 🇺🇸✌🏻I’m now home from Boston (major sad times) but I still have some photos to share so my feed will be staying in the US for a few days. We were so busy during our time there that I didn’t get round to sharing many insightful story posts and tips but I’ll be putting together a few blog posts soon which I think might convince you to visit Boston 🇺🇸 A post shared by TILLY | Travel, Style & Life (@tillyjaynek) on May 16, 2019 at 12:01pm PDT

Downtown Crossing

Our hotel (the Hyatt Regency, it was ok, wouldn’t recommend though) was located on the downtown crossing which is a bustling area of Boston city, but definitely not my favourite part. China town is just around the corner though and there are a couple of vegan restaurants/takeouts there. If you happen to be wandering through then be sure to snap an Instagram pic in front of the Paramount sign. We used this as a ‘oh we must be close to the hotel’ signal through the trip.

View this post on Instagram Boston day 1. Up and out by 8 and by 11 exhausted and collapsing into the nearest bar for a beer and large Diet Coke. Hoping the rain stays away for tonight’s baseball game ⚾️ A post shared by TILLY | Travel, Style & Life (@tillyjaynek) on May 10, 2019 at 8:56am PDT

Every Street in Salem

Seriously, who knew Salem was so Instagrammable? Although not technically in Boston, Salem is only a half hour train ride away and SO worth a visit. I’m going to touch on this further in another blog post but I basically just love Salem. The streets feel like you’re stepping back in time to 1950’s America, and we loved it! The buildings are beautiful and they have so many interesting houses in all different instagrammable pastel shades. Can you tell how happy I am in the pic haha!?

View this post on Instagram Can’t lie I couldn’t get over how high I managed to jump here 😂 yesterday we spent the day in Salem which was SO fun. We totally didn’t know what to expect but it was the cutest place with so many gorgeous streets and spooky spots 🧙🏻‍♀️ it was crazy learning about all the witch trials and we wandered around a haunted witch house which was interesting. This trip is definitely one of my favourites yet! Now I’m off to devour a vegan burger and cheesy fries 💕 A post shared by TILLY | Travel, Style & Life (@tillyjaynek) on May 13, 2019 at 10:14am PDT

South Station Area

Charlie took this whilst I was completely unaware and I actually love this photo! The city skyscrapers in the background look great and it was taken just outside of Boston’s South Station after we had gone into check out the bus times for our trip to Cape Cod. Boston is a very clean city and I think this image definitely confirms this. It almost felt like a movie set at times….

View this post on Instagram Charlie catching me doing my thing 🤳🏼 how is everyone’s Tuesday going? I am convinced it’s Wednesday and have got myself very confused 🙈 hoping this sun sticks around for the weekend, but in the meantime I’m going to make the most of it with lunch in the garden! Not that you asked but I’m trying out one of Co-ops ‘incredible’ burgers which looks similar to the Beyond burger and Iceland no bulls. Stay tuned for my verdict. Is a new vegan burger instagram page too much? I feel I could really contribute a lot 😂 A post shared by TILLY | Travel, Style & Life (@tillyjaynek) on May 21, 2019 at 4:18am PDT

These are just some of the best spots in Boston worth heading to for a few ‘gram snaps and I hope if you’ve not considered Boston as a city break option before, that you might be tempted to now! It’s a truly wonderful city and definitely somewhere I will return to. Keep an eye out for my Boston City guide coming soon.

The Isabella Gardner Museum is such a romantic attraction. If you love architecture and nature, this spot gives you the best of both worlds.

There are sculptures, an outdoor courtyard, and other interesting corners throughout the library, but none as breathtaking as the iconic Bates Hall (found on the second floor).

Most Instagrammable Places in Boston

Acorn Street in Beacon Hill in Boston, MA

Looking for the most Instagrammable places in Boston? My picturesque hometown of Boston is a photographer’s dream come true. From the cobblestone streets of Beacon Hill to the historic brownstones of Back Bay, there is no shortage of photogenic scenes to fill your Instagram feed. Before you set your camera loose on the streets of Beantown, check out my local photographer’s guide to the most Instagrammable places to visit in Boston .

Acorn Street, Beacon Hill

Acorn Street in Beacon Hill might just be one of the most photographed streets in Boston. With its red brick row houses, quaint cobblestones, and gas-lit street lamps, it’s easy to see why. Be sure to get there early to snag a shot before it gets crowded with tourists.

Pro tip: Acorn Street might be the most famous, but I find the lesser known back alleys of Beacon Hill to be just as adorable and way less crowded.

a dog on Acorn Street in Beacon Hill in Boston, MA in the snow

Louisburg Square, Beacon Hill

Just a few blocks from Acorn Street, Louisburg Square has beautiful, Greek revival homes that once housed the upper class of Beacon Hill in the 19 th century. It’s a much quieter spot than Acorn Street, so take your time admiring the architecture (and dreaming of one day owning a home here).

Pro tip: The best time to photograph Louisburg Square is in the springtime, when purple wisteria vines cover this beautiful corner house.

Spring magnolia blossoms on a home in Louisburg Square in Beacon Hill, Boston

Boston Public Garden, Back Bay

Stroll through America’s oldest public park and you’re sure to stumble upon a photo op or two. There’s really no bad time to visit (unless you can’t stand the cold), but one of the most popular seasons is the spring, when the tulips draw tourists from around the world.

Pro tip: Even if you don’t have a DSLR camera, you can capture some really nice, close-up shots of flowers with an iPhone’s portrait mode. If you are ready to invest in pro tools, I highly recommend the Canon EF 100mm Macro Lens .

When and Where to See Spring Flowers in Boston

From the delicate cherry blossoms along the Charles River Esplanade to the fragrant lilacs at the Arnold Arboretum, discover when and where to witness the beauty of Boston in bloom.

Make Way for Ducklings Statue, Back Bay

Any Bostonian will tell you not to miss the Make Way for Ducklings Statue located in the Public Garden. This adorable bronze sculpture is lighthearted reminder to not take life too seriously. You’ll often find a line of kids in tow hugging, climbing, and feeding the ducklings.

Pro tip: Definitely research your destination ahead of time for the most photographed spots (you’re way ahead of the curve with this guide!) But also allow yourself time to discover unexpected, in-the-moment shots.

Charles River Esplanade, Back Bay

The Charles River Esplanade in Boston is one of the best spots to snap a stunning cityscape. This lovely pedestrian path runs along the Charles River, which separates downtown Boston from Cambridge. Head here for a morning stroll and you’re in for a treat, especially in the springtime when the cherry blossoms are in bloom.

Pro tip: It gets crowded in warmer weather, so try going on a weekday, early morning, or a rainy day. Overcast lighting is way better for photos anyway!

Commonwealth Avenue, Back Bay

Often compared to Paris’ picturesque boulevards, Commonwealth Avenue in Back Bay is one of my favorite spots to photograph urban scenes. This parkway divided at the center by a wide grassy mall begins at the western edge of the Boston Public Garden and continues west through Back Bay to the Fens, dotted with statues and lined with stunning historic homes along the way. It forms the narrowest link in the Emerald Necklace, a series of urban green spaces designed by famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted.

Worcester Street, South End

This unassuming brick abode has been deemed “the most Instagrammable house in Boston” by all who have stumbled upon it. Tucked between the sleepy Worcester Street Community Garden and bustling Columbus Ave just under the shadow of the Prudential Center, it perfectly captures the “old meets new” charm of the South End. The quaint facade invites you to wonder at the story of those who have been lucky enough to call it home. In fact, the resident occupying the apartment above the cluttered garage workshop has lived there since childhood. Please be respectful of his privacy when you visit.

Boston Harborwalk, Seaport District

If you’re in Boston, you can’t miss visiting its famed harbor. The Boston Harborwalk is a near-continuous, 43-mile linear park along Boston’s shoreline. My favorite stretch of it is in the Seaport District, where you can get epic views of Boston’s waterfront and skyline, particularly stunning at dawn or dusk.

Harvard University, Cambridge

One of Boston’s most well-known and oldest universities, Harvard’s campus is a quiet respite from the city (especially during the summer when school’s not in session). The beautiful, historic brick buildings (many dating back to 1636!) are the perfect backdrop for an Instagram-worthy photo shoot.

Pro tip: When the perfect photo op presents itself, don’t stress about having the right equipment or lighting. The best camera is the one you have with you!

What To Pack For A Weekend Trip To Boston

When packing for a weekend trip to Boston, it’s essential to be prepared for varying weather conditions and a mix of indoor and outdoor activities. As Boston’s weather can be unpredictable, it’s wise to pack versatile clothing options. Bring layers such as light sweaters, cardigans, and a waterproof jacket, as the city experiences occasional rain and sudden temperature changes.

Comfortable walking shoes are a must, as much of Boston’s charm lies in exploring its historic streets on foot. Don’t forget to include a pair of sturdy sneakers for any outdoor adventures or sightseeing tours. For an evening out, consider packing a dressier outfit, as some of Boston’s upscale restaurants and entertainment venues may have dress codes.

Lastly, remember to bring essentials like sunscreen, a water bottle, and a crossbody bag to carry your belongings while exploring this vibrant city. With a well-thought-out and adaptable packing list, you can enjoy a delightful and hassle-free weekend getaway to Boston.

Boston Red Sox Instagram Captions

“I know of no large city where there is so much mutual helpfulness, so little neglect and ignorance of the concerns of other classes.” — Harriet Martineau

Perfectly positioned in the path of totality, Spruce Peak in Stowe is throwing a dance party to mark the occasion featuring DJ Logic; keyboardist Ray Paczkowski of the Trey Anastasio Band, guitarist Andy Greenberg of Runaway Gin; and guitarist and bandleader Marcus Rezak, plus special guest G. Love. Other activities on-site range from craft-making to complimentary tastings from local faves such as Runamok Maple, Cabot, and Ten Bends Beer. All guests of the Lodge at Spruce Peak will receive a welcome amenity upon check in, including eclipse safety glasses for the entire family and some delicious treats from the pastry team.

Spruce Peak, 7412 Mountain Road, Stowe, Vermont. Info here .

The Wentworth Jackson, NH Totality: 99.15%

At the Wentworth, resident astrologer Paul Winalski promises to guide guests through the astronomical spectacle with the wisdom of an interstellar navigator. Here, telescopes, firepits, and lunar-themed libations make for an unforgettable celestial celebration.

1 Carter Notch Rd., Jackson Village, New Hampshire. More info here .

Cape Arundel Inn & Resort Kennebunkport, Maine Totality: 95%

Only 90 minutes from Boston, Cape Arundel’s VIP eclipse-viewing package includes a 15 percent room discount and early check-in at 1 p.m., plus a bottle of wine, protective eyewear to watch the event safely, and a branded journal for any starlit-inspired musings or doodles. The solar-eclipse viewing party, which spans from 2 to 4 p.m., is the perfect setup for those who prefer their astronomical events served with a splash of ocean views.

208 Ocean Ave., Kennebunkport, Maine. More info here .

The Lincoln Biddeford, Maine Totality: 90%

Think of Lincoln’s rooftop eclipse soiree as a block party, but instead of blocking the street, the moon is blocking the sun. Upon arrival, you’ll be outfitted with two pairs of eclipse viewing glasses and two drink tickets for themed cocktails that’ll have you seeing stars—in a good way. It’s all part of the hotel’s Moon Shadow Package, which also comes with early check-in so you can sit back, relax, and maybe even practice your moonwalk before the main event.

17 Lincoln St., Biddeford, Maine. More info here .

Hotel Vermont Burlington, VT Totality: 100%

Only hotel guests will have the opportunity celebrate the eclipse at this exclusive viewing party on the the Van Ness Terrace. From 2 to 5 p.m., expect live music and and festive drinks paying homage to the sun’s brief retreat.

41 Cherry St., Burlington, Vermont. More info here .

Edson Hill Stowe, VT Totality: 100%

Given the lack of light pollution, this secluded inn, set amidst 38 stunning acres, offers prime eclipse viewing, with day turning to night for a magical 2 minutes and 48.1 seconds. Don’t miss the eclipse-themed Lemon Drop Martini at Edson Hill’s restaurant, which changes from yellow to dark purple, echoing the eclipse’s dramatic shift. It’s the perfect sip for toasting to the darkness and the natural beauty of Vermont (wearing your gratis ISO-certified glasses, of course).

1500 Edson Hill Rd., Stowe, Vermont. More info here .

L.a. mansion serena, venus williams bought their mother up for sale, serena & venus williams mansion they bought mom up for sale.

The L.A. area mansion Serena and Venus Williams purchased years ago for their mother is hitting the market ... TMZ has learned.

We're told the tennis superstars grabbed this Woodland Hills property for their mom/coach, Oracene Price , back in 2005 ... just as their careers were skyrocketing. Oracene lived in the mansion up until 2019, when it was reportedly sold for just under $2 million.

Now the property is going back on the market, and our real estate sources tell us it will be listed for $4,649,000 starting Friday.

The 7-bedroom abode is notably hidden away up a gated private drive ... where it is perched on a hill on a 1.4-acre lot. The estate's unparalleled views offer a sense of tranquility and serenity for whoever is able to cough up the Benjamins to make an offer.

The property boasts a massive tennis court, which is fitting given Oracene's daughters were winning Olympic medals, U.S. Opens and other prestigious trophies during her time residing there.

In fact, at the 2022 US Open, Serena famously credited her parents -- including Oracene's ex-husband Richard Williams -- for making her career possible.

Their journey as a family was told in the 2021 biopic, "King Richard," which earned Will Smith his first Oscar.

Other amenities for the home include a sparkling inground pool, multiple fireplaces, as well as a gorgeous walk-in closet attached to the primary bedroom.

Colt Maloney and Edward Faktorovich of Figure 8 Realty hold the listing.

The moon descends over the sun's horizon during an annular solar eclipse on Oct. 14, 2023 in Kerrville, Texas. Differing from a total solar eclipse, the moon in an annular solar eclipse covers part of the sun's light, creating the "ring of fire" effect around the moon. (Brandon Bell/Getty Images)

Eclipse superfans aren't just traveling to see the rare astronomical event taking place next week; they're purchasing flight tickets that fly along the path of totality to catch a closer glimpse of the remarkable phenomenon.

We speak with Here & Now transportation analyst Seth Kaplan about how these flights work and what travelers can expect.

This segment aired on April 3, 2024.

April Fools' Day pranks: Apps to translate baby stoner sayings, a ghostbuster at Tinder

Every april 1, brands and companies want to get some laughs – and attention – with goofy new 'product' launches. here are some ideas from companies such as sweetgreen, welch's and omaha steaks..

If you don't like Mondays, this one may especially be grating. It's April Fool's Day , when you should trust no one and question everything.

The roots of April Fools' Day may date back before to before the 15th century. But the modern-day April Fools' Day has become a day to prank a friend, family member, co-worker − or your customers.

Even though some companies have had April Fools' pranks backfire , marketers continue to issue spoof products in attempts to get some laughs and attention.

Already ahead of April Fools' Day, 7-Eleven has hinted at a possible prank product: In addition to new Lemon Lime, Green Apple and Sweet Orange flavored 7-Select sparkling waters, out now with partner Miracle Seltzer, there's a fourth flavor coming April 1: Big Bite Hot Dog.

The hot dog-flavored water "combines the mouthwatering experience of 7-Eleven’s iconic Big Bite Hot Dog into one refreshing beverage – ketchup and mustard included," the convenience chain says in a press release . "Say goodbye to the days of alternating bites of a hot dog with sips of a beverage, now those on the go can swap the bun for bubbles."

Krispy Kreme: A special doughnut deal for April Fools' Day

Will Big Bite Hot Dog sparkling water be sold? Its availability will be announced April 1. However, some reporters were sent a can of the drink. USA TODAY can confirm that it definitely smells like hot dog water and has a smoky aftertaste.

If you are interested in trying it, both 7-Eleven and Miracle Seltzer have hinted at having some to give away on their Instagram pages. (If you get a can, share with a friend as it's 16 ounces.)

Here's a roundup of many of the brand-related April Fools’ gag announcements. You've been warned.

Sour cream & onion flavored soda

Despite the proliferation of crazy-flavored products including Peeps-flavored Pepsi , Frank's RedHot sauce-flavored Vlasic pickles and Doritos Nacho Cheese-flavored liquor , healthy soda brand OLIPOP and Pringles are not really teaming up to bring to market a Sour Cream & Onion soda.

The product would have been "a match made in heaven … to bring the delicious, tangy flavor of Pringles’ Sour Cream & Onion flavor to life in liquid form with prebiotic benefits," the companies said.

Stoner lingo translation app

Another dream team prank product: Rosetta Stoned, a mobile app from Rosetta Stone and medical marijuana company Fluent , that "bridges the conversational gap between novice users and seasoned stoners in any social setting."

Da da decoder

Infant equipment site BabyQuip has its own language-bridging lark: the “Baby Translator” app, to decode your baby's secret language.

"Say 'goodbye' to restless nights as you decode your baby's coos and cries instantly, providing you with the understanding you need as a parent, all in one convenient app," it promises.

An AI-powered plush doll

Custom stuffed animal maker Budsies already makes selfie plush dolls with a built-in voice recorder. Its April Fools' spoof: Artificial intelligence-enabled dolls that "come programmed to learn everything about you and to become your new best friend."

A 50-pound Bearabuddy

Sorry to the 3,500 or so who have already signed up to buy Bearaby's Jumbo Benji plush toy, which is four times the size of its regular weighted plush toys and twice as heavy as its heaviest weighted blanket . This isn't actually going to be sold. But it is real and will be making its home in the lobby at The Child Mind Institute in Harlem to welcome children and their families. More weighted plushies are due the day after April Fools' Day, the company says.

A sleeping bag to go bananas over

The Dole Banana Peel Sleeping Bag, conveniently promoted as being available on April Fools' Day only, is made from actual banana fiber and "allows parents to escape into their own cocoon of sensory deprivation."

A full-body cleaning suit

Outrageous clothing company Tipsy Elves has a special product for April Fools' Day: The Mopsie. You don't need paper towels anymore, you can use your body to clean up those messes, with this "innovative, wearable microfiber towel jumpsuit" for "effortlessly soaking up spills and messes with ease." There's also a Baby Mopsie for "hard to reach places."

Korean BBQ deodorant

Kevin's Natural Foods , which has paleo- and keto-certified ready-to-cook and easy-prep entrées, is touting a new line of personal care products inspired by its food dishes including Korean BBQ Deodorant, Cilantro Lime Toothpaste, Lemongrass Basil Shampoo and Tikka Masala Sunscreen.

"These new face, body and hair care essentials will help fans prioritize self-care inside and out," the company says.

Omaha Steaks' meaty sprays

Omaha Steaks has its own personal care prank product: Meaty Spritz sprays with flavors such as Omaha Fog, Hog Haze, and Cock-a-Doodle-Dew.

"The world’s first protein-infused, flavor-packed, portable pump spray … (to) enjoy all the mouthwatering flavors of your Omaha Steaks gourmet favorites no matter how far away from the kitchen you are!" the company says.

Sriracha toothpaste

Asian sauce maker Lee Kum Kee , which makes Sriracha Chili Sauce and Sriracha Mayo Dressing, is introducing – not – its Siracha Mayo Toothpaste. It's "fiery and creamy goodness … is sure to spice up your morning dental routine."

Post-salad dental kit

Need some less powerful toothpaste? Sweetgreen offered these fanciful personal hygiene products as part of its Sweetgreen After Salad Kit, which is "designed with your pearly whites in mind … offering everything you need to freshen up post-meal."

Choose from Miso Ginger Toothpaste, Spicy Cashew Mints, Lime Cilantro Dental Floss, and Sweetgreen Toothbrush and Floss Picks.

Fruit juice lip gloss

More personal care prank products: Welch’s Juicyfuls Juicy Fruit Lip Gloss – now available in five flavors: grape, orange, peach, strawberry and raspberry – made with real juice from Juicefuls fruit snacks so "you get that irresistible sweet flavor you love, all in a lip gloss that's as fun as it is nourishing."

Protein-powered seasonings

Quest Nutrition , maker of protein powder, snacks and other products, has a prank product line of seasonings including All Purpose, Lemon Pepper, and Garlic Herb, each of which deliver "21g of protein, 2g of net carbs and less than 1g of sugar."

If you want to try Quest's real products, you can use code NOJOKE for free shipping on online orders over $49 April 1-3.

Superpowered Superfeet?

These would certainly come in hand on a run, but – sorry – it's a jogging joke. Superfeet SuperBoost Power E-Soles gives you 8 hours of continuous battery-powered boost, for almost Iron Man-like propulsion. "All the comfort and support of Superfeet , now with electrifying performance," the company says in a video about the prank product. "It's like having a powerful electric motor in your shoes."

Scotch tape-branded Scotch?

This shenanigan seems like a blend that could stick: Scotch Whisky by Scotch Brand. The whisky "features a nose of cherry wood and a delightfully smooth finish that hits like a well-wrapped gift."

Who you gonna call when ghosted? This new title at Tinder

Dating app Tinder announced a new April Fools' Day hiring quest for a Vice President of Ghost Hunting to help combat "one of dating culture’s most prevalent vices – ghosting," a practice inflicted on 78% of singles already in 2024 (an untrue fact from Tinder).

Patrón's bringing back a beloved liqueur. No kidding.

Patrón patrons get some good news today. The premium tequila maker chose April Fools' Day to announce the return of its Patrón XO Cafe tequila-based coffee liqueur, which was discontinued in 2021. Since production ceased, devotees took to social media and signed a petition asking parent company Bacardi to bring it back.

Made with Patrón Silver tequila and Arabica bean coffee – the dry liqueur can be sipped straight, in cocktails and as dessert topping – Patrón XO Cafe will begin arriving in stores again later this month.

Say it with dead flowers

Don't forget to put roses on your April Fools' Day list. UrbanStems has this "special" delivery, The Dead Inside Collection, "an assortment of dead flower bouquets, dead plants, half empty vases, and more for the pessimist in your life." But, for real, check UrbanStems' social media accounts including Instagram for how to get 20% off an order of real flowers.

Cheesecake Factory's real deals

The Cheesecake Factory also has a deal that's no joke: Sign up for the chain's Cheesecake Rewards loyalty program on April 1 to get an Any Slice, Half Price reward, redeemable for 50% off any slice of cheesecake or layer cake, with any food or beverage purchase (no gift cards).

Those who were members before April 1 will find something special in their account on Monday, too: either a free slice of cheesecake each month for a year, a free whole cheesecake, a free slice of cheesecake, $5 off $25 purchases, or $10 off $40 purchases. (All rewards redeemable by April 16; can be redeemed for dine-in, to-go and DoorDash.)

New merch from Dunkin', bonus points in app

Dunkin' announced it is going back to its roots and rebranding to just "Donuts'" on Monday, April 1. To celebrate the rebrand, the company is selling "Donuts'" merch, including sweatshirts that read "DONUTS," on ShopDunkin.com .

Additionally, Dunkin' Rewards members will receive 3x bonus points on any donut order through the mobile app on April 1.

Urban Outfitters launches 'Name Three Shirts' movement

Urban Outfitters said it is launching a global movement to "stand in solidarity against band-tee-shaming" by launching a new collection called "Name Three Shirts."

The t-shirt line "playfully mocks the gatekeeping attitudes of older generations who insist that band-shirt wearers should be required to name songs by those artists," the company said in a news release.

The line, which features revamped logos from bands such as The Grateful Dead, Joy Division and Led Zeppelin, is a "playful jab at the attitudes of older generations, and fights back against the misogynistic undertones of the infamous ‘name three songs’ line of questioning," Urban Outfitters said in the news release.

The collection of shirts is available online and in select Urban Outfitters stores starting April 1. You can shop the collection online here .

Auntie Anne's, Frontier Airlines collaborate on Pretzel Plane

Auntie Anne's pretzels and Frontier Airlines announced they have collaborated on the newest addition to Frontier's fleet: the Pretzel Plane.

According to a news release, the plane includes new in-flight entertainment featuring Auntie Anne's pretzels rolled seat-side, the "luxurious" smell of hot, fresh pretzels throughout the cabin and airplane-shaped pretzels if you're feeling hungry.

Moe's Southwest Grill, Sonic team up to introduce a Queso Slush

Two popular fast food chains announced a collaboration that is sure to be polarizing.

Moe's and Sonic announced a new beverage, the Queso Slush, a queso-flavored slushie. "The frozen goodness of a Sonic Slush meets the delicious flavor of Moe's queso."

DENVER, CO—JUNE 12TH 2009—Stephanie Miller, serves up side dishes at Boston Market at 6th and Grant Friday afternoon. THE DENVER POST/ANDY CROSS

This is a curated list of the Bay Area’s most notable and permanent restaurant and bar closures, with new updates published once a week. See a closing we missed? Then drop us a line .

FIDI — After less than three years in business, high-profile Greek restaurant Estiatorio Ornos will close its doors after April 11. A spokesperson for the Mina Group confirmed the news to Eater SF on April 3, writing that ownership decided not to renew the lease at the 252 California Street. It’s the end of an era for the celebrity chef, who previously operated his eponymous Michelin-starred restaurant, Michael Mina, in the same space until that restaurant’s closure during the early days of the pandemic.

FREMONT — SFGATE reports that fast-casual rotisserie chicken chain Boston Market has closed its last remaining locations in the Bay Area. The outlet visited several Boston Market locations including restaurants in Fremont and Oakland, confirming that the company does not appear to have any outlets open in the Bay Area. The news comes as the chain closes stores across the country; the Washington Post reports that despite once operating 1,200 locations nationally, there are only about two dozen Boston Market restaurants remaining.
