One of the special things about this bus tour is that one or more Government places will be on the attractions list which is not possible by private tour operators.

Unrestricted by time for any spot you enjoy at this one-day Mumbai darshan bus is what the Ho-Ho services differ compared to the regular tourism bus that moves around the city. This means tourists can Hop-Off at any destination for any amount of time and can catch another next bus in the queue to continue the tour ahead between fixed timings of 8:00 Am and 9:00 Pm.

About 11 Semi-Air-conditioned open-roof double-decker buses are ready for tourists willing for One day Mumbai darshan tour. This service from MTDC (Maharashtra Tourism Department Corporation) is quite similar if you have already experienced HO-HO (Hop On, Hop Off) services in other cities like Delhi and Goa.

With a fixed route planned to start in South Mumbai and End at the North suburban location of Borivali, This Mumbai Darshan tour will be much more convenient with more facilities like never before.

Beautiful-looking double deckers buses with a seating capacity of 26 people will start their route from CST at every 1-hour interval and will have about 25 tourist attractions covered along the route as detailed below. The Rooftop will be open which is fun during winter and monsoon, Yet summers can be adjusted at the lower deck which is Air conditioned with snacks and toilet facilities all inside.

Mumbai Darshan Ho-Ho Bus Highlights

  • Total Tourist Spots : 25.
  • Timings : Daily operation timings will be between 8:00 Am & 9:00 Pm. Every hour 1 bus and the Expected timings of one complete tour is 1 Hour as per planned, But practically it will take much more.
  • Ticket Charges : Yet to finalize, Yet Per Person charges will be around Rs.500.
  • Facilities : Snacks & Toilet facilities inside bus AC section.
  • How Different from Other Mumbai Darshan : No time restriction, Get Down at any attraction, Enjoy as much as wanted, and hop on in the next coming bus with the same ticket.

Although every spot in this Mumbai Darshan tour is unique, I would like to recommend and share my experience on where one should spend more time, Or say which tourist spot will need more of your time. Below are the same.

Quick Move / Less Time-Consuming Tourist Spots

Regular Old Mumbai Darshan Bus Services by MTDC

IMP NOTE: Although we update this article with the latest charges, cancellation process, contact, and other details related to this tour, The frequency of updates is not guaranteed, and visiting MTDC’s official Mumbai Darshan website for latest updates is recommended.

Foreign nationals might be wondering what the word DARSHAN means. So let me help it clear before going ahead with other details, This Hindi word means ‘SIGHT SEEING’ and according to Indian Mythology, it is used major when seeing any God / Goddess, which means getting Darshan.

The tourism department of Maharashtra focused on South Mumbai jewel and sightseeing locations to be coved for these 2 tour packages their services operate only on SATURDAYS and SUNDAYS (Weekends). The beginning looks great with the service offered and sure more improvements are possible with feedback from citizens and tourists. Why South Mumbai? Because that is where BOMBAY started with.

It’s the prime location that has maximum Structures, Old Heritages, and Edifices that are stupendous and a must to be seen in a day tour for a tourist visiting Mumbai. Below are details of the two routes covered.

Mumbai Darshan Tour/Itinerary 1 (CST to SOUTH MUMBAI to CST)

Dates : MTDC updates tour dates online for the current and Upcoming months, So you need to register and log in to their official website to check the available dates. Days : Only on weekends i.e. Saturday and Sundays. Starting / Pick up Point : For this Itinerary, CST (Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Bus Depot) is where the tour starts from. Timings : 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Charges / Entry Fees / Cost : Below are the detailed tour packages per person for adults (Above 12 Years of age) and Children (3 to 12 Years) (All Inclusive taxes). Kids below the age of 3 years have free entry. According to my understanding, a few attractions in the list of Mumbai Darshan tours have individual entry fees, and the below package, charges are designed accordingly. If one selects the Silver package which has low fees, then individually has to go to destination ticket counters to get an entry ticket by paying charges which may be time-consuming. Charges and fees may vary from time to time. Bus Service Type : BEST AC Buses . Also see BEST bus routes . What Languages Bus Guide Speaks : Hindi, Marathi, and English. As experienced at starting the week, the Guides were not professionals with limited knowledge about attractions and by-pass locations. Meals (Breakfast, Lunch, etc) : According to the MTDC website it is not included, But the latest tourist experience gives snacks and lunch within package fees. Siddhivinayak Temple Prasad Costing Rs.50 charges extra, Any food items, etc purchased have to be paid personally. For updated lists and terms visit their website. Tickets Cancellation is : Deductions / Cancellation charges are according to the date you do the cancellation from the tour date, i.e Before 15 days (5% of the cost), Before 8 to 14th day (25% deduction), Before 4 to 7 days (50% refunded), Less than 4 days of the tour (No Refunds). Tour Brochures : No handy brochures are given which actually should be that will help the tourists get some help on locations and sightseeing locations that are covered. Foreign nationals and citizens from other states who visit Mumbai for the first time have absolutely no idea of where city attractions are.

Big support. Very helpful. Going to Visit Mumbai. Preparing for Mumbai Dharshan with the help of your posting!

BUT, NOT ABLE TO FIND ANY ONLINE PORTAL FOR BOOKING THE ONE-DAY PACKAGE. The link goes in and on without any hint of online booking of a package tour! Honestly speaking, Karnataka state Tourism, Orrisa state Tousim, and Tamilnadu Tourism all have direct hassle-free links for package tours.

BUT, Horrible, not find any helpful links in MTDC OR MSRTC except booking for rooms!

Mumbai darshan in a day

Mumbai meri jaan

Photo of Mumbai darshan in a day by KASHISH BHATIA

I have been to Mumbai two times before but it always feels refreshing when I visit this city. The city is magical - busy roads, people hovering around the streets, catching locals, smiling, helping... The city restores me back to life. Always.

The city has lot of places to visit. Frankly, one day is not enough to cover the city. I recently went for Mumbai darshan and thought of covering some new places. You can refer to the following Mumbai darshan places list to make your Mumbai darshan itinerary as well.

Bandra Railway Station

I reached Bandra station, Mumbai at 7:30 in the morning, hired a cab and straight away went to my hotel.

Take one step at a time

Photo of Bandra Railway Station, Station Road, Naupada Village, Bandra East, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India by KASHISH BHATIA

After getting refreshed, I started my journey for a day. First place in my Mumbai darshan checklist was Siddhivinayak Ganesha Temple. But before that I wanted to have something as I was famished and was craving to have some local Maharashtra cuisine. I picked a restaurant near Sidhivinayak mandir called Aaswaad. I ordered my favorite Misal Pav and Thalipeeth. Both the dishes were delicious. Specially Thalipeeth. Do try this restaurant for breakfast. Total cost - Rs 150.

Aaswaad. Place not to be missed.

Shivaji, the great !

After having breakfast I started walking towards the temple. It was 10 mins(1Km) walk from the restaurant.

Siddhi Vinayak Mandir Back Entrance

I reached the temple and stand in the queue. As it was Sunday, many people were on a Mumbai darshan tour so the queue was long but in 30 mins , I reached inside the temple.

Bandra - Worli Sea Link

Next place on my Mumbai darshan itinerary was Bandra-Worli Sea link. As there was no direct local to reach Worli, I preferred to take a taxi to take me through the sealink. Including toll, the taxi driver took Rs.250 . The drive through the sea link was fun. I recorded the entire Mumbai darshan journey through the sealink and also took photos.

Bandra-Worli Sea link

The driver dropped me near Band stand. I started walking towards Mannat -Mr. Sharukh Khan premises. Unfortunately he was not there at home. I took some photos there and moved ahead for my next destination.

Bandstand Fort

The next place in my checklist was Band Stand Fort. The palce was very scenic. Sit on giant rocks beside the sea and gaze beautiful Bandra-Worli sea link. I bought bhel puri and sat there to enjoy the view.

Me embracing this scenic view

After this, I took a bus from nearby bus stop and headed towards Bandra Railway station to catch local for CST.

Bus ticket price from Band Stand fort till Bandra Railway station Rs. 35 and from Railway station till CST is Rs. 5 .

Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus

By the time I reached CST, it was almost 4pm. I was hungry. Thanks to zomato that I found a good restaurant opposite to CST called Aram Vada Pav. The restuarant also has a sitting area. Some person was having Sabudana khichdi and after seeing it I felt so tempted that I ordered it immediately. One sabudanaisn't enough for me so I ordered 2 vada pav and tea also :D

Total Cost for snacks - Rs 110

I crossed the road and went back to the station to take bus for my next destination on my Mumbai darshan tour - Gateway of India.

But I observed that there are shared Taxis can be taken outside the station. The cab took Rs 20 per person for Gateway of India. He dropped me near Taj Hotel.

To avoid wasting time I took a ferry ticket near Gateway of India and stood in the queue for the ride. Ticket price - Rs.90

This was the best part of my entire 1 day venture of the Mumbai darshan spots.

While I was waiting in the queue, it started drizzling. Ferry came for boarding and I rushed to catch front seat. The total ride generally takes 1 hour.

Gateway of India

After a while it started raining like cats and dogs and it added more adventure to the ferry fun. Thrilling experience it was. Don't miss the ferry ride if you visit Mumbai .

After I returned back from the ride, I sat near Gateway of India to dry my clothes. I was completely drenched :).

Colaba Causeway

Now it was time to do shopping in local markets as part of the Mumbai darshan. I headed to Colaba Causeway market which is 10 mins walking distance from Gateway of India. The marker is very lively. You can find clothes, jewelry - dirt cheap with great quality.

Just like that :P

This place also offers some of the best places to eat in the city. Hence it is advisable to reserve table if you are planning to have dinner nearby.

I had dinner at Delhi Darbar restaurant in opposite lane of the market. The food wasn't so great but I had no option as all restaurants were packed.

It was 10 p.m and the rain had stopped. I took a shared taxi and headed back to CST.

I was mesmerized by seeing beautiful lights decoration on CST and MahaNagar palika .

After spending some time with lights, I boarded a local to Kurla and headed back to my hotel as I had my train to Pune early morning.

At the end of the day, I was immensely happy that the day went as I planned. While going back to hotel I started searching for places to visit in Pune the next day :).

If you want to explore the city, you can also embark on your own Mumbai darshan journey or book some Mumbai darshan packages. Whether you are coming for Mumbai darshan from Pune or Delhi, travellers from every part of the country will enjoy visiting the various Mumbai darshan places.

Cheers to traveling !

Mumbai has a unique alluring smell that draws people in, in addition to the pleasant rabble on the local trains and the highest Air Quality Index. Mumbai, while being a busy metropolis, has a vibe that compels you to include the place on your vacation itinerary. The fact that the city's beauty is heightened by breathtaking seashores, raging rivers, breathtakingly magnificent architecture, and the aroma of freshly prepared food on Mumbai's streets cannot be disputed. The metropolitan region is enormous and has beautiful retreats, glamorous pathways, and most cherished pilgrimage sites. Here is a list of the top 10 sites in Mumbai for a single day of sightseeing if you can only take one day off from your hectic schedule.

1. Selfie with Gateway of India

One of the most important and recognisable structures in the nation is the Gateway of India, which is surrounded by the Arabian Sea and the Taj Hotel. Scottish architect George Wittet created the building's design, which was constructed in 1924. Starting from this most outstanding location or depending on any specific agenda you shouldn't skip, you may begin your greatest Mumbai Darshan tour. As part of Mumbai's heritage attractions, get ready with your high-resolution technology to take some unearthly picture-perfect images of the area. If it's not Monday, you may take a ferry from the Gateway of India to the Elephanta Caves, which are about a one-hour drive away. Keep in mind that the final boat departs Elephanta at 5:30 p.m.

2. Siddhivinayak Temple

Without seeing the well-known Hindu holy monument Shree Siddhivinayak Temple in Prabhadevi, a trip to Mumbai would be incomplete. No matter if you are starting a new business or taking a relaxing Mumbai Darshan city tour that winds through the city's busy streets, Lord Ganesh is the first to be worshipped. In the early hours of the day, choosing to make it the beginning point of your journey would be excellent. The temple is typically open from 5:30 AM to 9:50 PM.

3. Visit the Nehru Science Centre to learn more

The Nehru scientific Centre is an educational scientific exhibition that provides a wealth of information on energy, sound, kinematics, and mechanics. It was built in Worli with the primary goal of promoting science education among all people, and it will undoubtedly be one of your most entertaining day trips ever. A wide range of events, including science seminars, teacher training programmes, film festivals, sky observation programmes, 3D movies, and odyssey displays, are carried out by the committed crew. The centre is open from 10 AM to 6 PM every day of the year, with the exception of Holi and Diwali.

4. Visit the Taraporewala Aquarium to Meet a Variety of Fish

Who doesn't enjoy seeing different fish species in a lovely aquarium? Here is a must-see site in Mumbai that is situated on Marine Drive. It is the ideal location for a full day of sightseeing that lasts between one and two hours. The Taraporewala Aquarium features a comprehensive collection of marine life, including sharks, turtles, and a few rare species of seashells. On TripAdvisor, travellers rated Taraporewala 3 out of 5. For Indians, the entry price ranges from Rs. 30 to 60, while for foreigners, it ranges from Rs. 100 to 200.

5. The Prince of Wales Museum: A Glorious Page of History

The museum, also known as "Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya," is among the top places to visit in Mumbai for a single day of sightseeing. There includes a sizable collection of natural history, sculptures, textiles, European paintings, Chinese, and Japanese artefacts, in addition to decorative arts. I advise you to explore the museum while on your unforgettable Mumbai sightseeing tour, and bear in mind that it is open daily from 10:15 AM to 6:00 PM.

You could experience an adventurous environment and foreign sensations at Mahalaxmi Racecourse if there is a horse race. Furthermore, it's only a 30-minute drive from the exhilarating Mumbai Darshan City episode and Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. The Derby, a unique kind of horse race held once a year in February that showcases the excitement and spills of the event, is the perfect time to see an equestrian competition.

8. Take a nature walk at Girgaum Chowpatty

A popular tourist destination, Girgaum Chowpatty gets crowded, especially around Ganesh Visarjan, but tourists still enjoy the sound of the waves lapping against the coast. Siddhivinayak Temple

The Siddhivinayak Temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha and is one of the most significant and frequented temples in Mumbai. This temple was built in the year 1801 by Laxman Vithu and Deubai Patil. The couple did not have any children of their own and decided to build the Siddhivinayak temple so as to fulfil the wishes of other infertile women. Interestingly, the statue of Lord Ganesha here is believed to be self-manifested and grants wishes.

The Temple has a small sanctum housing the idol of Shri Ganesha, which is about two and a half feet wide and made out of a single piece of black stone. The temple has attained a popular status not only because it is believed that the Ganesha in the temple is especially revered, but also because of its popularity with Film stars and the bigwigs of the industry. It is also the richest temple in Mumbai as it begets INR 100 Million in donations each year from devotees across the world.

Marine drive

Marine Drive is the most easily identifiable landmark associated with Mumbai and is indicative of the glamor and glitter of the city. It is essentially 3.6 km long, arc-shaped boulevard along the South Mumbai coast that starts at the southern end of Nariman Point and ends at Girgaum Chowpatty, popularly known as Chowpatty Beach. The coast wraps the Arabian sea and is the best place in Mumbai to watch the sunset or even to just take a leisurely stroll by the sea any time of the day or night. At night, when the whole coastline lights up, it justifies its other moniker i.e. Queen’s Necklace.

The whole curve of the coastline, shielded with palm trees makes for a spectacular view at night – you can go to either end of Marine Drive after sunset and see the lights glowing in a perfect arc all along the coast. People come to walk here in the evening to experience the brilliant sunset. It is also one of the places people visit late at night, and you will find vendors selling  chai  and cigarettes at all hours. The sound of the waves, a view of the Mumbai skyline and the starry sky easily make Marine Drive one of the most romantic spots in the city.

PM Goes Underwater For 'Dwarka Darshan': How You Can Reach Lord Krishna’s Submerged City | Step-by-Step Guide

A re you enticed by the idea of exploring the submerged ancient city of Dwarka in Gujarat, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi sought spiritual solace through prayer, encountering a profoundly divine and awe-inspiring experience? Well, you’ve arrived at the perfect destination, as we are about to guide you on the journey to the city of Lord Krishna, submerged in the waters.

PM Modi on Sunday took a dip in the Arabian Sea at the site where the submerged city of Dwarka is believed to be. He went into the deep sea and visited the site, which is considered to be the original residence of the Hindu God Krishna and an ancient city, famous for its grandeur and prosperity.

Significance of Ancient City of Dwarka

The legends surrounding the ancient city of Dwarka, the land of Lord Krishna and one of India’s seven holy pilgrimage sites, has religious as well as archaeological significance. The lost city, the “ancient kingdom of Krishna”, which is mentioned in the epic Mahabharata, is believed to have sunk beneath the Arabian Sea after the death of Lord Krishna. It is said to have spread across nearly 84 km as a fortified city where the Gomti River and the Arabian Sea met.

Where Is Dwarka Located?

Dwarka is located in the state of Gujarat on the western shore of the Okhamandal Peninsula on the right bank of the Gomti River at the mouth of the Gulf of Kutch facing the Arabian Sea.

How To Reach Dwarka?

Dwarka is well connected via air rail and road to major cities. While the nearest airport to the city is Jamnagar Airport, the Dwarka Railway station is connected to all major cities including Jamnagar, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Mumbai, Goa and many more.

Scuba Diving in Dwarka

Scuba diving in Dwarka is conducted off the coast of Dwarka near an island called Bet Dwarka, where people can see the underwater remains of ancient Dwarka that have been excavated by archaeologists. Besides the submerged remains of Dwarka, beautiful coral reefs spread out along the seafloor can be spotted. Since the water is clear here, you can also spot sea animals such as dolphins, turtles, octopuses and starfish.

One of the best and most popular locations for the activity is Shivrajpur Beach, which is accessible via public transportation. The nearest airport to the beach is Jamnagar Airport while the nearest railway station is Dwarka Railway station. The beach is also well connected to major cities in the state via roads.

The activity costs somewhere around Rs 2500-3500 and the best time to do it is between October and April.

Gujarat Govt to Launch Country’s First Submarine Tourism in Dwarka

Last year in December, the Bhupendra Patel-led Gujarat government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mazagon Docks Ship Building yard to build tourist submarines for ferrying visitors to the submerged city of Dwarka.

These submarines — with the capability of going up to 100 feet underwater — will take tourists to Dwarka city.
