Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - Karahatag Shrine (Drifting Flame) Walkthrough

To solve the puzzles within Karahatag, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom players must combine Recall and Ultrahand.

How to get to the karahatag shrine, karahatag shrine walkthrough.

When players need to take a break from the story of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom , there are plenty of things for them to do and places to discover all across Hyrule. While traditional dungeons have made their return in this sequel to the critically acclaimed Breath of the Wild , Shrines are also in this game as well.

There are over 150 shrines for players to find and complete. Since completing shrines is how players can increase their health and stamina, any time spent on shrines is time well spent. Some shrines are more difficult to reach than others, and some cannot be easily reached until enough progress has been made in the story. This is the case for the Karahatag Shrine.

In order to reach the Karahatag Shrine, Tears of the Kingdom players must go to the Gerudo Desert. The coordinates for the Karahatag Shrine are -3714, -3618, 0044. The tricky part about reaching this shrine is that it requires completion of the Lightning Temple first. Otherwise, the entire region is covered in an unending sandstorm that makes navigating through the desert next to impossible. Once the sandstorm is gone, however, players will have no trouble finding the shrine.

Once players have unlocked the fast travel point in front of the shrine, they will be able to go inside. At the start of the shrine, there will be a small fire with a torch on the ground next to it. Take the torch and light it. Throw the torch at the bottom of the floating platform to the left and the gate will open.

Shooting an arrow with a Fire Fruit attached is also a solution for this first puzzle. This first puzzle can also be skipped by using Ascend on the floating platform and then jumping over the gate.

Enter the next room and climb up the ladder. Before doing anything else, go toward the middle platform and look down. Use the paraglider to go underneath the platform and toward the right to reach an alcove that has a chest. The chest contains a Construct Bow. Use Ascend to return to the top of the platform.

Up ahead, players will see three floating platforms that are exactly the same as the one in the previous room. The difference however, is that there is no bottom part that can be lit with fire. There is also a switch on the ground that players can stand on that reveals a spot on the floating platforms that can be lit. Unfortunately players need to stay on the switch to keep the ignitable part of the platforms down.

To solve this puzzle, use Ultrahand to grab the small pillar with the flame. Take it toward the first floating platform immediately to the left and lift it into the hole. Put it down and go back to the switch. Use Recall while still on the switch to light the platform.

The platforms will remain lit, even after players step off of the switch. So don't worry about losing any progress.

This exact same set of steps works on the other two floating platforms as well, and once all three platforms are lit the door to the altar will open.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available now on Nintendo Switch.

Zelda TOTK: Karahatag Shrine Solution & Location – Drifting Flame

Post Cover Image

The Karahatag Shrine’s puzzle, Drifting Flame, has a simple solution and an easy chest with a Mighty Construct Bow as a reward waiting for you in TOTK.

Near this Shrine, an ongoing sandstorm affects your map and greatly limits visibility. Unluckily, this storm won’t stop until you complete the Regional Phenomena (temple) quest in this area.

But do not worry about the weather! In this guide, we will tell you how to get to the Karahatag Shrine in TOTK, even through the worst climate, and how to solve its Drifting Flame puzzle!

How to Solve Drifting Flame Puzzle in Karahatag Shrine

To solve the Drifting Flame puzzle in the Karahatag Shrine in TOTK, you have to unlock the first gate by lighting up the ceiling stone pillar on the left side of the room.

Once you enter the main area of the Shrine, you must ignite three stone pillars with the aid of a small portable pillar that holds a flame. You can use Recall and the button on the floor to achieve this.

First Puzzle Solution – Entrance Gate

  • Grab the torch that is on the floor. Equip and swing it near the fire pillar on the right side by pressing the “Y” button.
  • Once the torch is lit, press and hold the “R” button, and aim at the point of the ceiling stone pillar on the left side.
  • Release the “R” button to throw the torch. This will light up the pillar and unlock the gate leading to this Shrine’s main area.
  • Enter the next room and climb the ladder to start the next puzzle.

Drifting Flame Puzzle Solution – Karahatag Shrine Tears of the Kingdom

  • Use the white marks on the floor as a guide on the approximate locations of where you should position the lit-up pillar.

Karahatag Shrine Drifting Flame Puzzle Solution TOTK

  • If done right, the fire pillar should drop exactly to the same position where you lifted it from.
  • Now, go to the button on the floor that is right in front of the ladder. Stand on the button and immediately activate Recall.
  • If done right, the small fire pillar will go up, lighting up the one that emerges from the ceiling when the button is pressed.
  • You can refer to the image below for this process.
  • Repeat this process for the remaining two pillars to unlock the gate that leads to the altar.

Get the Chest in the Karahatag Shrine

  • Before entering the room with the altar, go to the corridor that is right of the newly opened gate. From this location, you should see a chest on the lower level below the floor button.
  • Jump and use your Paraglider to get there. Opening the chest will award you with a Mighty Construct Bow.
  • Use Ascend to return to the upper level.
  • Finally, enter the room with the altar and activate it to get the Light of Blessing from the Karahatag Shrine in TOTK.

Karahatag Shrine Chest Location

Karahatag Shrine Location & Map

The Karahatag Shrine in TOTK is located in the Southern Oasis of the Gerudo Desert in the southwestern area of Hyrule. The exact coordinates to this location are -3726, -3625, 0043.

In addition, the Gerudo Canyon is the nearest Skyview Tower to this Shrine . Before going to this location, take enough Cold and Heat Resistance food or adequate equipment with you.

At night the desert gets chilly, and during the day, the heat is unbearable for Link!

Karahatag Shrine Location and Map TOTK

Getting here can be complicated due to a sandstorm that affects visibility and your map. Nonetheless, the harsh climate ceases once you have completed this area’s Regional Phenomena (temple) main quest.

You can still get to this location despite the sandstorm. However, you will depend entirely on the coordinates displayed in the screen’s lower right corner.

If you plan to go while the sandstorm is still active, mark the location on your map. Then, try to glide or walk in a straight line toward that point.

Once the map fails and you have no visuals, focus on the coordinates to get to the exact Karahatag Shrine’s location in TOTK.

Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom - Karahatag Shrine Puzzle Guide

Complete the Drifting Flame puzzle in the Karahatag Shrine in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

By Jason Rodriguez on May 16, 2023 at 10:56AM PDT

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Karahatag Shrine Puzzle is fairly tricky. It requires you to make use of your Recall ability so you can light the braziers that keep moving. Here's our guide to help you solve the Karahatag Shrine's Drifting Flame Puzzle in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

How to solve the Karahatag Shrine's Drifting Flame Puzzle in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Karahatag Shrine is found in the southern portion of the Gerudo region. Due to the sweltering heat, quicksands, and deadly enemies, we advise making use of the Lightning Temple.

Assuming you've already cleared the dungeon, return to the Lightning Temple Puzzle area , and use the updraft to get up higher. From there, keep using Ascend, including on the ceiling at the altar/boss arena, so you can reach the top of the pyramid. You can then glide east, where you'll see the Irasak Shrine nearby, and the Karahatag Shrine further in the distance.

Karahatag Shrine location

As for the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Drifting Flame Puzzle, you'll start out by picking up the torch, then lighting it on the brazier. Use Ultrahand to grab and lift it so that it ignites the other brazier up top. This will open the door.

Puzzle #1 solution

This is somewhat complex. Basically, there's a large chamber with three upside down pillars. Stepping on those will cause the floor to get lowered. However, the pillars themselves will reveal the braziers that need to be lit. There's also a candle nearby.

Here's what you need to do:

  • Pick up the candle and place it upright on any of the three white tiles on the floor.
  • Step on the plate to lower the floor.
  • As soon as you do this, cast Recall on the candle , which will lift it back to its original position. This will cause the candle to light the upside down brazier.
  • Do this for the other two braziers by placing the candle on the matching white tiles.
  • When you're done, this will unlock the doorway, and you'll be able to complete the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Karahatag Shrine Drifting Flame Puzzle.

Puzzle #2 solution

Wait, what about the chest ? Don't worry, we've got your back. In the same large chamber, hop off to the side of the floor switch area. You'll notice a small nook. Open the chest here for a Mighty Construct Bow.

How to unlock 5 locks to open gate in Tears of the Kingdom – Fire Temple Guide

Tears of the Kingdom Fire Temple Guide – start and lock walkthrough

Fire Temple Door 1

Screenshot by PC Invasion

After launching Yunobo at the marble rock to get in the entrance, head straight. Make a right near the end for a chest with ten arrows in it, but then continue straight. You’ll come across a locked door that Zelda went in earlier. Head to the terminal beside it and touch it.

Fire Temple Guide First Lock Room 1

There’s a minecart with an attached fan for your convenience. Looking down the rail line ahead, you’ll notice a circular device with an arrow. To get where you need to be, you’ll need to launch Yunobo at it while the cart is in motion.

Fire Temple Guide First Lock Yunobo Charge

Here at our first stop, there are some fire hydrants and a route ahead with a Fire Like-Like. Defeat the Like-Like first, then grab the hydrant and bring it down to the magma lake below to make more platforms. Attach them together to make a bridge for Yunobo, then launch him into the gong. First lock is down.

First Lock Gong Bridge

Second Lock

Fire Temple Guide Second Lock Room 1

Going back towards the minecart, hit the yellow stone to open the roadblock and get back in the cart. As you take off, be ready to launch Yunobo immediately at a marble rock, and then at a Construct in a cart that attacks you on the rail. You then also have to hit another circular device to change the route. This Fire Temple is here for those of us who played Spirit Tracks.

You’ll get stopped; it’s easiest to let Yunobo deal with the tiny golem enemies at this stop. Now hit the bell to change the rail and keep going.

Second Lock Bell 1

A Construct is here to defeat at this next stop. There’s also a chest with 10 arrows in it. Hit the bell to turn the cart around and go again. Then turn yourself around back at the last stop by hitting the bell and this time on the way back, launch Yunobo into the bell to stop the cart. Dismount and go across the little wooden bridge. Now hit this next bell and put the cart on the rail and go.

Second Lock Bell 3

In this next room, you’ll notice fire hydrants out of reach, along with marble rock you can break, and a magma pool.

Fire Temple Guide Second Room Gong Room 1

We’re halfway through the Fire Temple guide now. We can do this.

Return to your cart and flip it around with the bell. On your way back, hit the next bell you see with Yunobo to go up to the third floor.

Third Lock Room 1

Once you fight the Construct here, there’s another chest with ten arrows in the room. You can also take hydrant and rocket Zonai Capsules from the back.

Fire Temple Guide Third Lock Room 1 2

To progress, go to the right back corner to find another fan cart. Set it on the broken rail path, then grab two rockets from the upper shelves and attach one above the fan, and one on the front. You can safely launch yourself to the fourth floor like this and grab more arrows in a chest.

Third Lock Room 2 1

This next marble rock puzzle sitting at the top of the climbable wall is simpler than it looks. Just attach the bridge together and launch Yunobo.

Third Lock Second Room 2

Now that you’re up here, you can hit the gong.

Third Gong

Fourth Lock

Use either glide or the minecart after hitting the bell to return to the previous room with the capsules and rockets.

Fourth Lock Room 1

We need to get to this area blocked by the marble rock. This will be a bit of a process.

Fourth Lock Room 1 2

First you have to take the right route, then the next rail at the landing spot, in order to reach the marble rock and break it to reveal a bell.

Fourth Lock Rail

Hop to the left rail to go up, but you’ll be interrupted by another Construct. Now just glide down to the floor across, break the marble rock, take the hydrant, and make another rock bridge to hit the gong.

Tears of the Kingdom Fire Temple Guide- The fifth and final Lock

The fifth lock is in the building just behind you when you turn around. However, a marble rock is in the way.

Fire Temple Guide Fifth Lock Puzzle 1

The easiest way to get over here is to build a ramp with the cooled lava stone, then launch Yunobo off of it.

Fire Temple Guide Fifth Lock Puzzle 2

Once you’ve done that, rip a fan off of one of the carts and attach it to the top of your ramp. You should be able to glide over to the opening.

Fire Temple Guide Fifth Lock Puzzle 4

Once you’re inside, drop down to the bottom to find the last gong and launch Yunobo into it. Now hit the yellow stone in the room to open the door, and make your way down the path to the door.

Things to Prepare

To combat the intense heat, make sure to equip armor sets with built-in flame guard . The most accessible set you can find is the Flamebreaker Set which you can buy for 700 Rupees at the Armor Shop in Goron City .

Additionally, refrain from bringing and using wood-based weapons as the intense heat will immediately burn them. Use metal weapons instead.

Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom – How To Gain Flame Guard | Fireproof Guide

Everything you need to know about gaining Flame Guard in Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom.

Cooking Fireproof Meals

Brewing fireproof elixirs, wearing fireproof armour.

wandering flame tears of the kingdom

Survival in Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom requires preparation, as Hyrule is an unforgiving place. If you want to get through in one piece, having a healthy pack full of consumables fit for the location you are heading is simply a must. This is made apparent as early as the Great Sky Island, as that place has you traversing a place so cold you will literally freeze to death without planning (check out our guide on how to survive that).

Of course, being extra chilly isn’t the only way to perish. Arguably the worst way to go is burning alive as your entire body combusts from the heat of the air itself. This is what happens when you wander too close to Death Mountain, and you are going to need a solution if you want to continue wandering in that direction.

Note: Being hot is not the same as being on fire. If you want to become heat resistant (perhaps you are heading to Gerudo Desert), you will have to check out our Heat Resistance guide .

Unfortunately, as of writing this, we have not discovered any meal that provides Flame Guard. This makes this condition unique, as every other element can be countered by a hearty meal. If you want to prevent yourself from being set on fire, you need to rely on elixirs and armour.

wandering flame tears of the kingdom

Since meals are a no-go this time around, it’s time to brew an elixir. In fact, you could even argue that Flame Guard acts as a soft tutorial for Elixirs as nearly every other effect in the game is shared between both systems. If you want to know how to brew elixirs, check out our guide for a detailed breakdown.

As of writing, the only ingredient we were able to find that provides Flame Guard is the conveniently named, Fireproof Lizard. This thing can be found around Eldin Canyon and Death Mountain. Like most bugs, you can also buy them from Beedle in specific locations – Woodland Stable in this case.

In order to turn your lizards into elixirs, you will also require Monster Parts. The Monster Part you use for an Elixir might affect the quality of the potion, however, we were not able to confirm for definite when writing this guide. As a general rule, we would recommend using the worst quality ingredient to not waste something more valuable. Bokoblin Horns are our usual go-to here.

wandering flame tears of the kingdom

The final way to survive combustion is to wear specific kinds of armour. We are only aware of one suit that grants this specific protection, and sadly, you can only get it from Goron Village. This is, of course, in a place that sets your skin on fire just by approaching it, so you can’t rely on it when you first attempt to trek.

The armour is also very expensive, costing thousands of Rupees to get the whole set. You might be better off just relying on Elixirs if you don’t have the means to generate large amounts of cash.

Do note that even with Flame Guard, your weapons will not be protected. As a result, avoid anything made of wood, as these will quickly ignite and then turn to ash. Metal weapons are the way to go here.

That’s all we have for Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom for now. Be sure to check out our other content for more tips, tricks, guides, and lists.

How To Complete The Wind Temple In Tears Of The Kingdom

Quick links, how to complete the wind temple, the first lock, the second lock, the third lock, the fourth lock, the fifth lock.

After arriving in Rito Village, you'll meet up with Tulin again, who asks for your help in becoming a fully-fledged warrior. Of course, in Tears of the Kingdom , this involves journeying up into the sky, to the Stormwind Ark, a legendary Rito vessel.

RELATED: Breath Of The Wild: The Best Shields, Ranked

Responsible for creating a harsh snowstorm, it's up to you to find out what's causing the flying ship to go haywire and investigate a possible sighting of Princess Zelda. This guide will show you how to access the lock you need to activate to solve the temple's mystery.

Updated May 20, 2023: We've updated this guide to include a video walkthrough of the Wind Temple in Tears of the Kingdom.

When you arrive at the Wind Temple, after completing the aerial obstacle course with Tulin, you'll find a large hatch in the centre of the area - this hatch is powered by six devices that you can see dotted around it. Initially, only one of them is active, and you can test this by interacting with the Zonai Pedestal .

Tulin will tell you that you need to unlock the other five devices , which are turbines scattered around the temple. Your task is to reach these locks and use Tulin's Gust ability to activate them.

There are lots of ice blocks to destroy in this dungeon - having a Flame-Emitter Shield that you don't use in combat is a very good idea, as you don't risk it getting broken as you would with a Flame-Emitter weapon.

Before anything, check out the patch of ice on the right side of the temple - smash this open to reach a small area. Melt the ice on the lever using a Flame-Emitter, and you can access a small room with a chest containing a Zonai Shield . Use Ascend to get back out.

Directly behind the Zonai Pedestal are two gates, each with a lever next to them. One of the levers is broken, the other is intact.

Use Ultrahand to operate the intact lever and enter the room it unlocks. Inside, you'll find a Zonai wielding a Flame-Emitter Spear - this will be very important to pick up if you don't have any other Flame-Emitter gear.

There is also a chest containing an Opal in here, as well as two boxes that contain Arrows .

Now, you'll need to fix the broken lever opposite the first one. To do this, use Ultrahand to pick up one of the nearby icicles on the ground. Attach this to the broken lever handle, and you'll be able to use the lever normally, again with Ultrahand. Inside, you'll find the first lock . Ask Tulin to use Gust on it, and it'll power up.

Your next goal is reached by heading to the right side of the Wind Temple. Peer over the side of the ark and you should see some ledges that serve as entrances to the inside of the temple - most are blocked at the moment, but some are unlocked.

Your goal is at the coordinates -2907, 3018, 1486 (see the picture above for reference). You'll have to glide off the edge of the temple and quickly turn back to reach the hole.

Once inside, beware a handful of Keese . Kill them, and start exploring. The nearby ice block has some Zonai devices inside if you melt it.

To your right as you enter the temple, you'll find a gap - fly over this gap with the help of Tulin's Gust ability and reach the other side. Operate the lever on the other side with Ultrahand to unlock the nearby window, in case you need to come back again.

Head to the end of this corridor, defeat the Zonai here, and use Ascend to reach the next level up. You'll be in another corridor, at the end of which is a device next to a door and a ladder.

On the way to the device is an alcove containing a chest underneath two slabs . Move the slabs out of the way and open the chest to get a Captain I Reaper .

To solve this puzzle, find a nearby slab and Attach it to the rod hanging down from the ceiling . Use Ultrahand to rotate this slab , which opens the gate above the ladder. However, once you let go, the slab will spin back around, and the gate closes.

Use Recall on the slab to have it move back in time and use this window of time to enter through the gate.

At the top of the ladder are a Keese and the second lock , which you should get Tulin to activate.

Head back to the window you just used to reach this puzzle, and instead of hopping over the gap toward the puzzle with the device, glide down to one of the ship's oars. From here, glide to the platform underneath the ship .

There's an enemy and a lock here - deal with them both.

Head back inside the temple by hopping over the gap nearby , and you'll be near the red lasers you might have seen earlier. Destroy the enemy and then carefully get past the lasers with a combination of crouching under and hopping over. The chest at the end of the corridor contains a Ruby .

You can use Ascend to get back to the ship's deck.

With these locks activated, head to the centre of the Wind Temple and use the massive updraft to soar into the air using your Paraglider. Glide over to the top of the very large structure to the north.

Here, use Ultrahand to raise the doors, revealing a laser-filled drop.

Skydive down this tunnel , carefully avoiding the lasers. The tunnel has various alcoves in it - one of them has a chest containing a Solider Blade , and the other one has the fourth lock . Activate it with Tulin's Gust.

To get out, use your Paraglider to ride the updraft.

To get this final lock, you'll need to drop off the edge of the Wind Temple and enter through a window in the side again. This time. Your goal is at the coordinates -2811, 2949, 1489 (see the picture above for reference). Navigate here and drop off the edge, gliding back into a frozen window covered in icicles .

You can break the icicles using any weapon, being careful not to get caught on one and take damage, and enter the temple.

Defeat the nearby Keese and head toward the revolving wheel of bars to the north. Use Recall on the wheel to reverse its direction, and you'll be able to ride it to the other side. There's a Zonai here - defeat it.

The puzzle here involves the rotating cogs on the wall to your left as you're facing the gate. To solve it, shoot down one of the long icicles hanging from the ceiling.

Use Ultrahand to move this icicle between the two sets of cogs , bridging the gap between them. Place it so that when it Attaches, it forcefully rotates the other side.

Once an icicle is placed correctly, the nearby gate will unlock and give you access to the final lock.

To get back to the main deck, glide to the flying boat outside the window and jump on top of it to be launched into the sky. From here, you can just glide on over to the deck.

Interact with the Zonai Device to open the hatch and take on this dungeon's boss, Colgera . Before doing this, you might want to make sure you have a healthy supply of Arrows and Fire Fruit.

Yunobo, a Goron with a white tuft of hair and goatee, stands in shock as a cave crumbles around him in Tears of the Kingdom

As a part of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom ’s main story, you’ll need to help out the Goron people with a rock-eating addiction that they’re going through in the Yunobo of Goron City quest.

This is one of four locations as part of the Regional Phenomena quest, with Goron City found in the north-east part of Hyrule.

Below, we walk through how to find Yunobo, climb Death Mountain, and find the Fire Temple (which is in a different guide because it’s long).

How to start Yunobo of Goron City

Once you get to Goron City, talk to the elder Goron near the huge rock meat pile in the center of the city. A cutscene will start, explaining the deal with marbled rock roast and Yunobo, our beloved Goron boy from Breath of the Wild , will show up. However, he’s turned into a pompous jerk who is fine with letting the Goron people suffer for his company.

After the cutscene ends, the quest “Yunobo of Goron City” will begin. Yunobo’s bit involves using minecarts to travel on tracks and firing him off to activate levers and take down enemies while on the cart.

Finding Yunobo in Death Mountain

The quest marker will lead you to him. You’ll just need to follow a path. You won’t need to get on any of the mine carts you see.

There will be several swarms of Bokoblins and their friends on the path, so make sure you’re ready to fight. You will also need to have fire resistance / be flameproof to actually get to Yunobo, so make sure you either buy the Flamebreaker armor from the Goron City or you have flame resistance elixirs on-hand.

Once you make it to the marked location on the map, talk to the little Goron kids to get to Yunobo. You’ll have to fight him in a very hot cave, which is why you need fire resistance.

Yunobo doesn’t take any damage until he’s stunned. He’ll stun himself by rolling into walls, so dodge his rolls and wait for him to get dizzy. Once he’s dizzy, one attack (no matter which weapon you use) will do a third of his health. Hit him three times and he’ll come to his senses.

Yunobo will now direct us to the Death Mountain peak, which we’ll head to next.

Carting up Death Mountain

From Death Mountain West Side, you’ll need to take a specific rail up. Grab the cart next to the rails, attach the nearby fan to the back of it, and head up:

wandering flame tears of the kingdom

You’ll notice that as you ride different vehicles, Yunobo will automatically charge up in front of you. You can’t really aim him vertically, but he will go forward from where Link is facing. Use Yunobo’s ability to break rocks in the way of the track and take out enemies that are along the way.

You’ll eventually hit a barricade, where you can defeat the bokoblins there, break the barricade, and keep going. Keep using Yunobo to break down rocks that block off the tracks.

Sitsum Shrine will sit under the end of the tracks, so grab the shrine as a quick (and very useful) teleport point and Ascend back up.

Moragia boss fight strategy

After you walk up the rest of the mountain path and talk to Yunobo, you’ll need to fight the mid-boss, Moragia.

wandering flame tears of the kingdom

There isn’t much to this fight. You’ll need to use Ultrahand to straighten out the flying vehicle that’s conveniently right on the mountain top and navigate it, firing Yunobo at the three appendages. Once you hit all three once, you’re all done.

They will fire rocks at you, which is annoying, but focus on dodging and aligning Yunobo for a good shot. The flying machine provided has big batteries on it, so you have plenty of time to steer the vehicle around.

Getting through the Death Mountain Chasm

Before you jump into Death Mountain, remember to have fire resistant armor or elixirs, as you’ll need them the entire time you’re inside the mountain. You’ll also want non-wooden weapons which will break significantly faster inside due to the fire (our best weapons page can offer some recommendations if you want some suggestions).

Due to how dark and confusing the Depths are, we’ll provide coordinates for important landmarks throughout this part of our walkthrough.

After jumping straight into Death Mountain, you’ll want to land as close to the quest marker as you can. If you are having trouble lining it up, aim for Mustis Lightroot (2375, 2591, -0944) below:

wandering flame tears of the kingdom

If you whiff the jump and end up on the rocks in the lava, you can teleport back to Sitsum Shrine and try again.

Once you make it to the lightroot, activate it and talk to Yunobo to proceed. At this point, you should be aiming for the quest marker on your map, but it’s admittedly hard to see in the depths. Use lightblooms liberally to help light up the way.

Use Yunobo to break the rock at approximately (2128, 2704, -0961) and climb up that path:

wandering flame tears of the kingdom

Take down the group of enemies directly in front, who are mining at zonaite. Feel free to use their hammers to collect some zonaite for yourself. (You can never have too much!)

Keep heading up until you reach approximately (1907, 2622, -0853) and use Yunobo again to smash the rocks ahead. Keep moving forward towards the Misisi Lightroot in the distance at (1842, 2843, -0838). You’ll need to fight a large swarm of bokoblins and friends in the way first.

To the west of Misisi Lightroot, there’s a pool of water with several hydrants around it. Before you grab a hydrant, take out the surrounding enemies first, which include Bokoblins, Moblins, and a Fire Like.

Once they’re cleared out, pick up a hydrant and carry it over to the broken bridge at around (1669, 2901, -0844). Hit the hydrant to turn it on and hold it over the lava to create a rock path. Jump from rock to rock like so to fortress:

wandering flame tears of the kingdom

Note that the rocks do drift down the lava a bit, so you’ll need to time your jumps slightly. They don’t move super fast or anything like that, but if you stand for a long time, you’ll notice yourself moving.

Once you’re done crossing the lava, you made it to the Fire Temple .

Flamebreaker Helm

The Flamebreaker Helm is a piece of Armor in the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom that allows you to venture into the hottest lava-filled areas of the Eldin region and its caves. It is also part of the Flamebreaker Armor Set , which includes the following pieces:

  • Flamebreaker Armor - Chest Gear (Base Defense 3, Sell Value 175)
  • Flamebreaker Boots - Leg Gear (Base Defense 3, Sell Value 300)

Where to Get the Flamebreaker Helm in TotK

FlameBreakerArmorMap.jpg

Rather than embarking on a series of different side quests to get your hands on the Flamebreaker Helm in ToTK, you can simply purchase it at the Armor Shop in Goron City . It is rather expensive, though, so you may have to save up a little before you can collect the entire set.

FlamebreakerLocation.jpg

The Armor Shop is on the Southwest side of the town square beside the Inn, and you can purchase all three pieces of the set for a total of 3,300 Rupees, or just buy them individually:

  • Flamebreaker Helm - 1,400 Rupees
  • Flamebreaker Armor - 700 Rupees
  • Flamebreaker Boots - 1,200 Rupees

If you’re low on Rupees, you can always sell rare ore like Sapphires, Topaz, Rubies, and Diamonds that can be mined around Death Mountain and from the deposits in caves. There is also a traveling Gerudo Merchant nearby who has a Side Quest Amber Dealer and will happily by 10 Amber for 1,000 Rupees!

Flamebreaker Helm Upgrades

TotK FlamebreakerSet.jpg

The Flamebreaker Helm can be upgraded, and can also be dyed at the Dye Shop in Hateno Village. After you find and unlock the Great Fairy Fountains in Hyrule , you can bring them ingredients and a donation of rupees to increase the armor value of each piece of armor. All pieces of the Flamebreaker Armor Set will require the same materials to upgrade each. See the table below for the ingredients needed and defense bonus you can gain for each piece of armor.

  • Upgrading each piece to level 2 will unlock the Set Bonus: Flameproof, making it impossible for Link to take extended burning damage when hit by any fire elemental attack or effect.
