Hyundai Staria Now Available as an Awesome Pop-Top Camper Van

With a mattress, a refrigerator, and a table, the camper version of the futuristic-looking Staria has everything—including the kitchen sink.

• Hyundai has revealed a camper version of the cool-looking Staria van.
• It has lay-flat seats, a mattress, a sink, and a refrigerator.
• The Staria Lounge Camper will be sold in Korea for the equivalent of between $40,000–$50,000.

The most obvious change is the electrically operated pop-top roof, which creates space for a two-person mattress—included with the camper version—to fit up there. There's also an extendable awning with built-in LED lights. The seats inside the cabin can also lay flat to provide more sleeping space. A water tank is included for the sink, and there's a built-in refrigerator that runs off an external power supply.

The Staria Lounge Camper is only offered with either white or black exterior paint, but the interior is available in either black or brown. Hyundai hasn't said which engines the camper version will offer, but the standard Staria has either a 3.5-liter gasoline V-6 or a 2.2-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder.

We're not expecting to see the Staria make its way to the U.S. in any form, sadly. But the camper version will be sold in Korea starting at around $40,000, with loaded versions costing around $55,000. Apart from the Mercedes Weekender that's currently offered here, American outdoors enthusiasts' best hope for a futuristic-looking factory camper van is the VW ID.Buzz , which may eventually be offered on our shores with a pop top.

We spied another prototype for the revamped Hyundai H1 minivan with slightly different camouflage than before, this time shot by our photographers in the Alps. We still believe that it will be presented sometime next year in most markets, possibly as a 2022MY.  [Updated 9/24/2020]

Hyundai isn’t known for their vans – at least not in North America and other major Western market, but spy photographers have caught pictures of the upcoming H-1 / Starex / iMax.

Set to get its first redesign in more than a decade, the van is heavily disguised but features an all-new front fascia with a wide grille that appears to span nearly the full width of the vehicle.

Additional details are hard to make out, but we can see headlights that are mounted low on the bumper. This suggests the model will adopt split lighting units similar to those found on crossovers such as the Santa Fe, Palisade and Venue .

Moving further back, we can see pronounced wheel arches and triangular front quarter glass. The model also has larger windows which should help to improve visibility. The van also retains its boxy shape as practicality and space are the name of the game.

The interior picture isn’t the best, but we can see the van will have a free-standing infotainment system and a passenger side dashboard with metallic accents that flow into the air vent. The latter feature can also be found on the 2022 Tucson , which debuted earlier this week.

Little else is known about the van at this point, but we can expect an assortment of petrol and diesel engines. We also wouldn’t be surprised if the current five-speed automatic transmission is replaced by something a bit more modern.

The redesigned H-1 / Starex / iMax is expected to be introduced next year and should be offered in a variety of international markets.

Idaho police search for white Hyundai Elantra in Moscow college murder case

Fox News’ Alexis McAdams reports on Moscow, Idaho, police removing personal belongings of the four University of Idaho students from the crime scene while families grapple with a lack of answers nearly one month after the murders.

The Moscow (Idaho) Police Department said Wednesday that detectives want to speak with occupants of a white 2011-2013 Hyundai Elantra that was near the off-campus home where four college students were brutally murdered on Nov. 13. 

"Tips and leads have led investigators to look for additional information about a vehicle being in the immediate area of the King Street residence during the early morning hours of November 13th," police said in a news release. 

"Investigators believe the occupant(s) of this vehicle may have critical information to share regarding this case."

The car's license plate is unknown, but police encouraged anyone who knows of a vehicle matching the description to forward information to their tip line.

A spokesperson for Customs and Border Protection told Fox News Digital that ports of entry in the northwest are aware of law enforcement's search for the Hyundai Elantra and will be monitoring traffic for it. 

UNIVERSITY OF IDAHO MURDERS TIMELINE: WHAT WE KNOW

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) declined to comment on this specific case, but did say that they "work closely with Canadian and U.S. law enforcement partners to ensure the safety and security of our shared border." 

"This includes cooperating on activities such as identifying wanted persons," a CBSA spokesperson told Fox News Digital.

Authorities have received 2,645 emailed tips, 2,770 phone tips and 1,084 digital media submissions during the investigation thus far, but still have not identified a suspect or located a murder weapon . 

Xana Kernodle, 20; Ethan Chapin, 20; Madison Mogen, 21; and Kaylee Goncalves, 21, were stabbed to death at the off-campus residence in the early morning hours of Nov. 13.

Moscow Police Department Chief James Fry and other law enforcement officers were at the home on Wednesday packing up some of the personal belongings of the victims. 

"It's time for us to get those things back that really mean something to those families and hopefully help with some of their healing," he said. 

IDAHO MURDERS: 25% TO 40% OF STUDENTS CHOSE NOT TO RETURN TO CAMPUS

Five vehicles that were previously parked outside of the home were removed last week and taken to a city-owned lot for further evidence gathering.

Investigators have appealed to the college town of about 25,000 to report anything out of the ordinary that could be related to the murders. 

"Your information, whether you believe it is significant or not, might be the piece of the puzzle that helps investigators solve these murders," the Moscow Police Department said in a statement.

For a foreigner who has never visited Russia, Moscow is the perfect stepping stone into this great land of mystery. From the country’s best classical ballet troupes to snow-white troikas trotting through the parks, all the highlights of Russian culture can be had in Moscow without any of the complications that would be expected in other, less developed regions of Russia.

Cheap as Caviar

In Moscow, everything is bargain when with the current foreign exchange rates being what they are. Even caviar doesn’t seem so dear when the exchange rate is at 60rub to the dollar, so go on indulge yourself! Take your 2022 vacation in Moscow and have the best of both worlds, with European luxury at very affordable prices.

Lena, our guide in Moscow was excellent. She was very knowledgable and could answer any question we had for her. We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. When we realized that one of the places we had chosen to see would probably not be that interesting to us, she was able to arrange entry to the Diamond Fund and the Armoury for us. Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.

Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. I will be taking another tour in Russia, with my wife, within the next two or three years. I will be in touch with you when the time comes. Meanwhile, I will refer you to other potential visitors to Russia as I meet them.

We had a great time both in Moscow and St Petersburg. Your travel agency was excellent in coordinating the whole trip. Everything worked like clockwork. The guides assigned to us were very nice and friendly. They had a great knowledge of their subjects. The cars and the drivers were great. The hotels were good and the itinerary was good.
