8 Best Sites To Find Free Video Footage for Your Travel Vlog

Do you need free video footage to use in your travel vlog? Here's my curated list of the best free video sites that offer royalty free videos for commercial use with no attribution required.

As much fun as it would be to travel to every corner of the Earth and capture every second of footage I need for my videos , I can't be everywhere at once, so I often rely on stock videos to fill in the gaps. And whenever possible, I gravitate towards using free video footage that's offered under the Creative Commons Zero , or a similar license, that allows me to copy, modify, and use the footage without asking for permission or providing attribution — including for commercial use.

A fellow vlogger in our Travel is Life Creators community recently asked me where I get this CC0 footage, so I've put together a list of my favorite sites.

The list is small, and I'd love to add more sites to it, so if you've got any other sites you'd like to add, drop a comment below this post or e-mail [email protected] . For the sake of keeping this list easy to navigate for other vloggers, I'll only be adding websites that offer CC0 or similarly licensed footage that can be used for commercial purposes without attribution.

The reason I prefer “no attribution” is because it makes things easier to keep up with in the future. I'll often pull from old stock footage I've got downloaded on my laptop that I've used in other videos (as opposed to going back to the websites), and trying to remember where I got it all from for the sake of attribution would be a challenge, so I gravitate towards stock videos that do not require it.

Pexels is my favorite free video footage website and the one that I use the most. They offer a great selection of high quality videos and I'm thankful for the community of videographers who share their work on the platform. All photos and videos on Pexels are free to use without attribution (although credit is always appreciated by the artists) via the CC0 license or Pexels license which is similar.

I've always loved Pixabay for their free commercial use photos , but over the past few years, they've also grown their library of free videos as well. They offer a wide selection free video footage from all over the world under their own Pixabay license which allows for commercial use of their videos without attribution, similar to Pexels above.

Coverr started as a side project in 2015 by the developers behind Veed.me — and they've continued to grow it after they sold Veed.me to Fiverr. Their selection is smaller than the sites above, but sometimes it's more about finding the RIGHT video than finding MILLIONS of videos, so it's one more place to look. Their license allows for commercial use without attribution, and only restricts uploading their videos to competing sites.

You've heard of Vimeo by now, right? At one time they were gearing up to be a YouTube competitor, but then they decided to go a different more premium / curated route. Well did you know that thousands of publishers make their videos available for free to the public under the CC0 public domain license? The videos are hit or miss depending on what you search, but there are some diamonds in the ruff within their library, especially if you need some random b-roll footage. Just keep in mind that many of the videos are home video quality because there's no curation involved.

5) ISO Republic

ISO Republic has a relatively limited selection of footage, but their videos are CC0 licensed. They won't have many (or any) results for destination specific searches like “Ecuador” or “North Carolina” but offer a small selection for searches like “Coffee” or “Buses”.

6) FOCA Stock

FOCA Stock has a small selection of CC0 licensed videos, and like ISO Republic above, does not have a wide variety of destination specific videos. However no complaints because it's basically spearheaded by one generous photographer named Jeffrey Betts who launched FOCA in 2014 to share his work for free with the world. He's got a significantly larger selection of photos (tens of thousands) than videos (of which there are only 24 at the time of writing this), however, I'm including FOCA on the list because I love supporting solopreneur projects.

7) Footage123

I don't know much about Footage123 , and they don't offer much information on their site about who's behind the project, but they've got some great drone footage! And if you make travel vlogs, I'd imagine that some quality drone shots for your b-roll would come in handy. Everything on their site is under a CC0 license.

8) RoyaltyFree YouTube Channel

RoyaltyFree is a YouTube Channel that regularly uploads clips that you can use for commercial use without attribution. I can't tell how many videos they've uploaded (hundreds I believe), but all the clips I viewed were good quality. You would need to use a 3rd party YouTube video download tool to access these videos for your vlog.

8 Best Sites to Download Free Music for Videos

Finding the right music can elevate your videos to a whole new level. However, copyright issues can be a headache.  This guide will help you explore the best resources for music for content creators and find free music for videos.

Understanding Licensing Terms

It’s important to note that when using free music, you need to be aware of the licensing terms. Some free music is only for personal use, while other music can be used for commercial purposes. Be sure to read the licensing terms carefully before using any free music.

Of course, YouTube has its free audio library so you can use it for your YouTube Videos, You just need to have a YouTube account to access the library and look for the best option for your creation.

Downsides: Incompetech’s sheer popularity might make certain tracks overused.  For unique projects, consider exploring lesser-known libraries.

3. Free Music Archive (FMA)

A haven for independent artists, Free Music Archive offers a vast collection of music, making it one of the largest available selections of free music for videos and a great platform that supports independent artists and allows them to share their music while retaining control over their work. This is a valuable resource of creators looking for original music options.

While most of the songs are under Creative Commons licenses, some of them are not, so be sure to check the terms before using a track in your project. But the good news is that you can filter search results by license. 

Downsides:  The sheer variety can be overwhelming.  Sifting through music might take time compared to curated libraries.  Licensing terms require checking each song individually.

This is the perfect source of music to use for marketing videos, with more than 125 million options, much superior to the competition, right? 

Downsides:  The platform is not specifically designed for royalty-free music discovery, so finding the right track might take more effort.  Licensing terms require checking each song individually.

5. Bensound

Bensound, created by musician Benjamin Tissot, has a focus on quality and variety. This platform offers tracks across genres like acoustic, cinematic, corporate, and more, catering to a wide range of video projects. It offers a collection of both free and premium soundtracks and their free licensing option allows you to use their tracks on online videos if you credit them (always check the license for details).

Downsides: The library, while well-organized, is not as vast as some other options.

Better known as free stock images, Pixabay also surprises us with its royalty-free music downloads, positioning it as an “all-in-one” platform. From Pixabay you can download free images, videos, and music for your project. Making it an excellent proposal for content creators.

Downsides:  The music library is not as extensive as some other dedicated music platforms.

Musopen is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free access to music resources, including sheet music, recordings, and educational materials.

This is a very different option from all the others you will find here, given that all the musical content they offer is classical music and orchestral pieces. On this platform, you can find free music and you can give your videos a sophisticated touch or you can even use it for other purposes.

Musopen is a haven for classical music enthusiasts and empowers creators to incorporate beautiful classical music into their projects without worrying about copyright restrictions.

Downsides:  Limited to classical music only (but it is not necessarily a downside)

Jamendo is a platform that connects independent artists with audiences worldwide, offering a vast catalog of royalty-free music for content creators. Jamendo’s simple licensing model and user-friendly interface make it a valuable resource for creators seeking fresh and original music for their videos.

Downsides:  Licensing terms require checking each song individually.  

With so many resources available, there’s no excuse for bad video music!  Explore these options and find the perfect soundtrack to elevate your content creation.

Nike faces backlash after Olympic uniform reveal

Following the Nike Air event in Paris last week, social media users shared their thoughts on the previewed Olympic track and field uniforms.

Last week, Nike gave the public a sneak peek of the Olympic uniforms expected to be worn this summer. Serving as a preview to the Olympics and showcase of Nike’s newest technology, the Nike Air event in Paris also reopened a discussion about the controversial choices for professional female athletes, specifically in track and field. 

During the event, Nike displayed the men and women’s uniforms for a variety of sports. However, the track and field uniform caught most people’s attention as the women’s design features a high hip cut bodysuit. Meanwhile, the men’s uniform consisted of mid-thigh compression shorts and a tank top. In light of the reveal, social media users expressed their outrage about the design choices. 

“What man designed the woman’s cut?” one user commented under Citius Mag’s Instagram post about the new uniforms, per the New York Times.

“I hope U.S.A.T.F. is paying for the bikini waxes,” another commenter added. 

Amongst the social media users sharing their opinions, Olympic athletes like Queen Harrison Claye and Femita Ayanbeku chimed into the conversation. Just as Claye joked that the European Wax Center should be named a sponsor in the Olympic games because of this uniform design, Ayanbeku commented, “This is clearly a joke.”

This is for Olympic Track and Field,” said champion runner Lauren Fleshman in an Instagram post . “Professional athletes should be able to compete without dedicating brain space to constant pube vigilance or the mental gymnastics of having every vulnerable piece of your body on display. Women’s kits should be in service to performance, mentally and physically. If this outfit was truly beneficial to physical performance, men would wear it.”

While the mannequins in the Nike Air event showed the bodysuit track uniform, stars like Sha’Carri Richardson modeled another variation of the women’s track uniform which featured compression shorts. According to Nike’s press release , athletes have the option to choose from “nearly 50 unique pieces across men’s and women’s track and field and a dozen competition styles fine-tuned for specific events” that match their personal style and comfort. 

“Nike designed the Paris 2024 track and field kits to offer athletes a range of silhouettes tailored for various sport disciplines, body types and sizes, prioritizing performance and maximum breathability,” said John Hoke, Nike’s chief innovation officer, in a statement .

“Working directly with athletes throughout every stage of the design process, Nike designed garments to ensure fit across a range of body types and style preferences and infused real-time feedback throughout the entire product-development cycle.”

Why would you download movies from netflix, going somewhere without wi-fi or service.

Downloading your favorite shows on your phone is extremely easy, whether you have an Android phone or an iPhone. There are only a few steps between you and hours of offline fun:

• Open your Netflix app on your Android phone or iPhone.
• Find the TV show or movie you'd like to download and tap on it.
• Under the Play button, you should see the Download button . Tap on it, and your download will start.
• You can also browse only the content that is available to download. To do that, go to My Netflix -> Downloads -> See What You Can Download and browse from there.
• If you're downloading a TV show with multiple episodes, this button will only download the first episode of the first season. If you want to download more, simply scroll down and tap the download icon next to each episode you want to download.

Another great feature is Downloads for You. This ensures that you always have something to watch when offline. You simply allocate some storage space for Netflix, and the app automatically fills that space with selected movies that should fit your tastes according to the app's algorithm.

Fortunately, Netflix’s download feature works not only on your phone. You can do it on the iPad and any Android tablet (including Amazon’s FireOS tablets), as well as every Chromebook that has the Google Play Store. • Open your Netflix app on your device.
