One Christmas, my parents wrapped a box with vouchers for tickets to Kennedy Space Center. As a huge space nerd, I was ecstatic! During our vacation to Florida, we joined our cousins, piled into the old conversion van, and drove to Titusville for a day of memories I’ll never forget. I still look at the photos and remember how thrilled I was with the gift of travel. I don’t remember any other present I got that year.

Giving the gift of travel is giving memories that are priceless and will last a lifetime. It is easier than you might think to gift someone a vacation for Christmas, graduation, a honeymoon or a birthday. You don’t even need to know when or where they want to travel!

In 2023, after years of stress shopping and mindlessly ordering items sent to our homes, a lot of us don’t want more stuff . Almost everyone is ready to go somewhere! We all want to travel! Whether that’s a vacation abroad or getting out of the house more in your hometown, we are all craving the ability to break free and start making memories.

There are many reasons why travel is a better gift than anything you can buy in a store, including:

  • Travel is the perfect minimalist gift. There is nothing to clutter a home if you are giving experiences.
  • Everyone values experiences more than things. The memories you make and the pictures you take are far more valuable than a sweater or a kitchen appliance.
  • Saving money on a vacation. When you buy lots of toys just to fill under the tree, you have still got to have a vacation budget later on. Why not funnel some of the vacation budget to your holiday gift budget and save money, or upgrade your travels?

Here are some helpful tips to remember when booking travel or experiences as a gift.

Give Gift Cards or Vouchers for Travel

One of the easiest, and safest, ways to give travel is to give a gift card for an experience they will love. For instance, give an airline gift card so that they can fly anywhere. Or a cruise line gift card. Hotel chains and Airbnb also offer gift cards.

If you have an idea of their likes, this is a great way to give a trip without needing to know specifics.

Tinggly might be one of the easiest and most flexible ways to book travel as a gift. A Tinggly gift will come in an actual gift box, which is way better than other gift card options. The recipient chooses what they want to do when they want to do it. All you need to do is pick a price point, and a gift box and book will be sent with your personal message.

You might be surprised at the types of gift cards that are available. State parks, such as Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites , offer gift cards for their admission fees.

Xanterra , which operates many National Park hotels, trains and other experiences, also offers gift cards that have no expiration date. These can be used for lodging, dining, cruising, shopping and activities in places such as:

  • Yellowstone National Park
  • Zion National Park
  • Glacier National Park
  • Grand Canyon South Rim
  • Grand Canyon Railway and Hotel
  • The Oasis at Death Valley (in Death Valley National Park)
  • Rocky Mountain National Park
  • Mt. Rushmore Memorial
  • Windstar Cruises
  • VBT (slow bike vacations)
  • Country Walkers (walking vacation)

Amtrak gift cards are available, too.

Sam’s Club offers a variety of gift cards for travel, including Disney gift cards. ( Get a $20 Sam’s Club gift card for joining.)

Viator allows you to book tickets, tours and attraction admissions online. Such as a Chicago Architecture River Cruise or a Foodie Walking Tour. This is perfect if you want to book a day trip or a fun experience in their hometown or around the world. For most experiences, you can cancel at least 24 hours in advance and get a full refund.

Buy An Annual Pass

Get an annual pass for their favorite destination for a year of travel and adventures. Theme parks are perfect places for an annual pass. Or give a National Parks pass so that they can enjoy a year of adventure wherever and whenever they choose.

Consider pairing a National Parks Annual Pass with one of these awesome National Parks gift ideas .

Consider All of the Costs

Giving a vacation is sweet. And they will likely love it. However, your gift could actually end up costing them if they have to pay lots of hidden fees, or travel fees.

If you pay for airline flights, be aware that they will need to get to the airport and back. Can you, or someone they know, provide transportation or parking? There will be costs to board animals if they have pets. Then there are the costs of accommodations, eating out, etc.

All of these things add up. If you are giving travel as part of a vacation they are taking anyway, then it will help to save them money. Or if you are giving a train ride to go see family, then there won’t be as many expenses. But giving someone a week-long stay in Jamaica for the winter without any airfare to get there just adds to their expenses.

Don’t Book Specific Dates

Unless you are surprising your immediate family with a vacation and know with absolute certainty that they will be able to travel on specific dates, do not book an actual itinerary. You have no way of knowing what their schedule is, or what they might be considering for the upcoming year.

For instance, maybe they know that work will be super busy in the upcoming year and they can’t take as much vacation time. Or perhaps someone is pregnant and hasn’t told friends or family yet. Maybe someone has a surgery upcoming or medical problems they haven’t revealed. You never know what could be going on in someone’s life.

Even if a hotel or airline states that they have zero change fees, that still doesn’t get you off the hook. There might be a small window of time that the trip can be rebooked. Or when you go to change the dates, the costs could be more expensive and they will need to pay the price difference.

Don’t Book International Travel

Unless you know for sure that your gift recipient has a passport that is valid and won’t expire soon, do not book international travel or any type of travel (including cruising) that might require documents that they don’t have.

Don’t Use Your Frequent Flier Miles

Okay, I actually have used my frequent flier miles to surprise my mom with a flight to see her sister for her birthday. And using your miles is a great way to give a big gift without a huge expense.

However, this method can come with problems. If there are changes that need to be made to the reservation, or problems with the flights mid-trip, they might need to rely on you to make the changes. Keep this in mind if you want to use your rewards.

Don’t Use Their Own Points, Miles or Rewards Numbers

Using their own points, miles and rewards from loyalty programs or credit cards might sound like a great idea. Especially if you are using your husband’s or wife’s points because you know they won’t book it themselves.

Once the points or miles are redeemed, chances are they are going to get lots of emails about the reservation, upsell emails, confirmations, and more. They will likely be notified of the travel booking well before you are able to give the gift.

Be Certain of Legal Names

If you do book a cruise, flight or an annual pass, be sure to know the recipients full legal name if needed. When booking a flight, the name on the ticket will need to match their ID exactly. The same for cruises, too.

For annual passes, they might need to show their pass along with their ID for entry. So make sure to know what legal name to use.

How to Wrap a Vacation Gift

It can be hard to figure out how to wrap a gift of travel so that they aren’t disappointed and your present actually makes them smile!

gift a travel package

If you are giving a physical gift card, it’s a bit easier. For gift vouchers and homemade gift certificates (here are some great Christmas gift certificate templates that you can download ), the best way is to pair the sentiment with a physical gift that is from the destination. Here are some examples:

  • A toy train for a train journey
  • A bag of oranges or a tube of sunscreen for a Florida vacation
  • Bathing suit for a Caribbean trip
  • Ski parka, warm hat or gloves for a ski vacation
  • Iconic food or drinks from the destination (macaroons for France, pasta and sauces for Italy, etc. Try the World offers beautiful gift boxes packed with delicious foods from countries around the world.)

Another idea is to give an item from the destination. You can find great gifts on Etsy . Just type in the destination name and see what comes up. Consider giving a Christmas tree ornament, snow globe or t-shirt representing the state, city or country of where they are going to go.

Visit Shop Americas National Parks for items sold within the NPS system.

Wrapping up a guidebook or a language guide is also a fun idea.

To make it really special, wrap the gift with an old map as wrapping paper. And add a luggage tag as the name tag.

Your gift recipient can book a 7-night getaway at one of 4,200+ RCI-affiliated resorts worldwide. Their options are based on availability and the amount of currency you apply toward the gift. How to give a surprise trip as a gift

Summer Hull

There's really no better gift to give yourself or others than the gift of experiences and travel. Surprising someone with a trip can be the ultimate present ... to give and receive. There's just no question that a memorable travel experience is almost guaranteed to deliver more long-term happiness than another fuzzy sweater or gadget wrapped up in a bow .

Personally, I'm a sucker for putting slightly over-the-top gifts under the tree from time to time — including surprise trips. The pandemic slowed down that type of gifting at my house, but this may be the year that is right to try it once again.

For more TPG news delivered each morning to your inbox, sign up for our daily newsletter .

Even in normal times, giving a trip as a surprise can be complicated, or even disastrous, if you aren't careful. Here are my tried-and-tested tips for gifting a surprise trip to a close friend or family member.

gift a travel package

Be certain they'll love it

If you can't be 100% sure whether or not the gift recipient will love the trip's itinerary and be available to travel on the scheduled dates (with an appropriate passport, COVID-19 requirements, etc.), you shouldn't book the trip as a surprise.

You can still surprise them with the idea of the trip, but don't make the actual bookings (or at least any nonrefundable reservations) until you know for sure they want to go and are available.

gift a travel package

Don't use frequent flyer numbers in the booking

The easiest way to have your secret plan foiled is to have the trip show up in the recipient's email inbox or frequent flyer account. This will almost invariably happen if you use their frequent flyer or hotel loyalty numbers in the reservation. It sounds like an easy step to skip, but be aware it can happen automatically if you have booked a trip for them before and their frequent flyer numbers are stored in your account.

For example, one year I booked trips for both my mother and husband for Christmas, and both were already travelers in my United MileagePlus account. I had to enter them as new travelers in order to not have their frequent flyer numbers loaded into the reservation.

Related: Beginners guide to earning points and miles

In the end, it all worked, and once Christmas had passed, I added their United frequent flyer numbers and Known Traveler Numbers to the reservation.

Booking through a third-party site, such as Expedia, and leaving off the frequent flyer numbers can also work. There's a small chance it will make it difficult to use PreCheck (or a similar program) if the names don't 100% align, so there could be a potential slight downside to this form of secrecy — but it can keep your surprise under wraps.

Use an incognito browser

I won't even pretend to know all the ways that the internet is always "spying" on you, but I do know that when I'm shopping for someone on one computer in the house, the others often start to get targeted ads for that item or destination. So, to cut down on the likelihood you tip off anyone that may live with you about the surprise, do your research and purchases in an incognito browser.

Don't use their points

This one should be pretty obvious, but don't use someone else's miles or points to book a surprise trip -- even if it is your partner.

This is a bad idea for multiple reasons but on a practical level, they are likely to see the redemption in their account or inbox, so the surprise will probably be ruined.

Think about the 'extras'

It's a weird time, and so you need to think through things that used to just be extras when it came to trip planning. For example, if they need a rental car, you'll want to make sure that price and availability aren't going to be a problem.

Some ski resorts also limit lift ticket sales during peak dates, so if you are gifting them a ski trip, make sure they can still get lift tickets. Even Disney World sells out of tickets on certain dates, so ensure you make them Park Pass reservations to go along with gifted tickets in the case of a theme park trip tied to specific dates.

Basically, go through all components of the trip and pre-plan or at least adequately research the availability of all of the essential components.

gift a travel package

Be careful of what the trip will really cost them

If you're going to gift a trip (and that's very kind of you), think through how much the gift will ultimately cost the person traveling. For example, if you're giving them a cruise, will the recipient still be on the hook for flights to and from the port? What about a potential overnight at a hotel near the port and ancillary costs on the cruise ? If so, is that still a reasonable "gift"? These days, you may also need to factor COVID-19 testing into the equation.

In the case of a cruise, those ancillary expenses could total $1,000 or more, depending on the details, so think through if you're accidentally signing someone up for expenses they may or may not be ready to handle. Again, when in doubt, don't actually book the trip as a surprise.

gift a travel package

Consider gift certificates

One thing we've given extended family members in the past is airline gift cards , if we know the recipient likes to travel, but we aren't in a position to know exactly when and where they want to go.

This is an especially great way to give travel to grandparents who have grandkids and bucket list-worthy travel destinations scattered around the country and beyond. Hotels, Disney and even some cruise lines also all sell gift cards, making this a flexible way to gift travel without having to dive into a specific booking.

Wrap it up in a creative way

The gift of travel doesn't need to be packaged in fancy wrapping paper in order to be awesome.

If you're like me, however, it's fun to strategize an unforgettable way for the recipient to discover the gift. For example, you could give a trip to Paris in a box of macarons, a ski trip in a box of fake snow or, in our case a few years ago, a trip to Spain using a huge map that your mom had in her high school Spanish classroom for over 30 years.

It isn't totally necessary, of course, but it sure builds up the fun and excitement for everyone in the room, as you can see by our trip reveal to my mom on Christmas morning a few years ago.

Giving the gift of a vacation may be a bit more risky than a sweatshirt, gift card or blanket, but it can also be way more rewarding for everyone involved if you can pull it off.

How to Give the Gift of Travel

By Cassie Shortsleeve

Sunset scene with surfers at Playa Dominical a rocky beach settled mostly by foreign surf lovers.

Finding someone, anyone, the perfect present is hard. And when you want to go beyond a piece of luggage or tech stocking stuffers (but yes, we've got you covered for that too), the stakes get even higher. As for giving the gift of travel? That might be the trickiest and most personal gift of all. Ace the process and someone may always see you as the reason they cruised through the Tuscan countryside in a convertible. Flub it? You’ll be the one who gifted them a cruise not knowing that a seasickness episode in high school left them dreading boats for the rest of their lives.

It's a slippery slope—but it’s one worth navigating. That's because experiences lead to greater levels of happiness than material goods do, says Cassie Mogilner Holmes, Ph.D., an associate professor at UCLA’s Anderson School of Management who studies happiness and gift giving. “People are happiest when they feel socially connected with others—and often that requires a disconnection from the routine and the mundane of the day-to-day.”

Here, how to give the gift of travel.

Don't plan a full trip for someone else.

Imagine someone booked a trip for you—reservations and all—handed it to you, and you thought, "I really don’t want to do that." It happens, says Rudi Steele , president of Dallas-based Rudi Steele Travel Inc.

Plus, the reason Americans don't use all of their vacation days is often because of temporal constraints, says Mogilner Holmes. Taking time out of our schedule takes effort, and if you take the liberty of choosing when someone travels, you could be imposing stress unknowingly.

That’s why Steele suggests letting go of the reins, consulting with the recipient, and then working with a travel advisor who can craft the trip of a lifetime for them when the time is right for a price that works for you. (Working with a travel professional also allows you to bypass the process of gathering names, birthdays, dates, and passport information—often required upon booking.) Yes, you'll ruin the surprise, but you'll ensure it's a gift your friend, family, or significant other will actually enjoy.

Just make sure to have a chat with the travel specialist before you present your gift to ensure that your financial figure is in the right range. The other reason we forgo our vacation days has to do with financial constraints, notes Mogilner Holmes. So while you might think $5,000 is enough for a lovely European jaunt, it might not cut it. And as Steele says: “No one really wants to receive a present which then costs [the recipient] lots of money.” A specialist can help guide your budget and help you determine the best use of your funds.

Be creative with gift certificates.

Airline vouchers can be restrictive, since they often only apply to a single airline, and hotel certificates can come with blackout dates, says Steele. If you’re dead set on giving someone something more tangible, consider purchasing 'skyhours' through the recently released Skyhour app, which lets you gift travel on 350 international and domestic airlines. Airbnb also offers gift cards that don’t expire.

Plan something toward the end of their trip.

When we remember events, we’re most likely to look back at the way they end. It’s called the “peak-end effect,” Mogilner Holmes says, and it lends itself wonderfully to gift giving: a massage at the last hotel someone stays at, a final dinner in a faraway city before a morning flight home.

Gift an Instagram-worthy excursion.

Giving someone surf lessons on a trip they already have planned to Costa Rica or a wine tasting for their upcoming Bordeaux vacation builds in an opportunity for what Mogilner Holmes calls “peak experiences”—memorable moments of trips that tend to stick with us. Since we tend to photograph "peak experiences," they prove a big part of making a trip a lasting one, she says.

Remember to keep your recipient ’s interests in mind. It seems like a no-brainer, but research finds the opposite. Says Mogilner Holmes: “Gift givers tend to give things that they like without taking into account what the recipient likes.”

Just because 12-course, three-and-a-half hour tasting menus are your thing, it doesn't mean they're everyone's. If your friend is more the outdoors-type, consider a guided hike. If they wouldn't be caught dead in a tent, find ways to infuse a little luxury into the trip.

Supplementing a trip with add-ons travelers on a budget often skip—namely private car services and nicer hotel rooms—can be an ideal present for any traveler, says Steele. After all, the ease of stepping off of a plane in a foreign country only to see a well-dressed stranger holding a sign with your name on it is pretty much priceless.

How to Give a Vacation Trip As a Gift

A vacation trip can make a great gift for a friend, family member, partner, or loved one. You may decide to give someone a vacation trip as a birthday gift, a holiday gift, or to commemorate an anniversary. To give a great vacation gift to someone, start by planning the trip and wrapping the trip in a fun, interesting way. You can then give the trip to the person so they can enjoy a vacation in an exciting destination.

Planning the Vacation Trip

Step 1 Determine your budget.

  • For example, you may be able to afford to spend $500 on the gift, which will cover travel expenses but not accommodations for two people. Or you may be able to spend $1000 on the gift, which will cover travel expenses and accommodations for one person.

Step 2 Choose a destination.

  • You could also pick a destination that you think they may enjoy going to, such as a tropical destination or a destination in Europe. Or you may opt for a destination like Disneyland or Graceland if you think the person will enjoy going there.
  • Another option is to leave the destination blank and allow the person to choose their own destination once you give them the gift. You may set aside a certain amount of money for the gift and tell the person they can travel anywhere within that budget.

Step 3 Determine the travel dates.

  • If you do purchase the trip with set travel dates, make sure the person will be available for travel on those dates. You may need to check with the person’s partner or family to confirm they are free. You could also ask the person in casual conversation if they have some free time coming up for travel to confirm the travel dates for the gift.

Step 4 Find accommodations.

  • If the trip is at a resort, you may not need to worry about booking accommodations.
  • You may not need to book accommodations if there are friends or family the person can stay with at the destination. For example, if you are getting the person a trip to visit a friend in England, you may not have to worry about paying for their accommodations as they can stay with their friend.

Step 5 Confirm the vacation trip is an appropriate gift.

  • If you are getting the vacation trip for a relative, such as your niece or nephew, you should confirm it is appropriate with their parents before giving it to them. Ask their parents, "Do you think they would like a vacation trip as a gift?" or "Is it okay if I give them a vacation trip as a gift?"

Step 6 Purchase the trip.

  • Keep in mind your budget when you buy the trip. Make sure you do not go over budget or spend more than you can afford on the gift. If it ends up being a lot of money, you may try splitting the cost with other friends or family so you can all give the person the vacation trip as a gift together.

Wrapping the Vacation Trip

Step 1 Put a description of the vacation in a card.

  • For example, you may write in the card, “You will be traveling to sunny California, flying by plane for several hours until you reach your best friend in San Francisco. You’ll be travelling from the 5th to the 15th, just in time for your bf’s birthday!”

Step 2 Wrap a clue to the destination in a box.

  • For example, if the destination is England, you may include a small red telephone booth figurine in the card. Or if the destination is Paris, you may include macaroons and a statue of the Eiffel Tower in a gift box.

Step 3 Include the travel tickets in the gift.

  • This may be an ideal option if you have bought plane tickets or train tickets for the trip already and want to include them in the gift. You may also include an image of the hotel or home rental the person will be staying at in the gift.

Giving the Trip to the Person

Step 1 Surprise the person with the trip.

  • If you decide to surprise the person with the trip, try to keep the details secret. Instruct others who know about the trip not to tell the person anything so they can be surprised when they finally open their gift.

Step 2 Have the person guess the destination.

  • For example, you may tell the person, "Use these clues to guess where you are going. Once you guess correctly, I'll hand over the travel tickets."

Step 3 Take the person to a specific setting for the gift opening.

  • For example, if you are giving the person a trip to Morocco as a gift, you may take then to a Moroccan restaurant so they can open their gift there. Or if you and the person have a special park bench you go to often, you may have the person open their vacation trip gift at this location.

Travel + Leisure / David Hattan

Shopping for your travel-loving friends and family can be tricky — after all, you’ll want to ensure you’re picking up something practical, but you also don’t want to gift them something they already have. It’s also worth considering that frequent travelers, especially digital nomads, tend to live a more minimalist life. This means practical gear will reign supreme over more frivolous items.

You’ll also want to take into account the kind of travel your favorite globetrotters or influencers are into. City explorers or luxury-leaning travelers, for example, probably won’t want the same gear as someone who spends their PTO hiking and trekking through the wilderness.

The following options were hand-picked by our team to suit every type of traveler and vacationer on your list. We’ve extensively researched (or personally tested) all of the following gifts to ensure your purchase will make a thoughtful and genuinely practical addition to your loved one’s travels. Here are the best gifts travelers will love — for all budgets and needs.

Solo Re:Define Backpack

You can’t go wrong with a new travel backpack, and the Solo Re:Define Backpack earns our top pick as the absolute best laptop backpack in the game. It’s lightweight and stylish while still roomy enough to hold the essentials whether your gift recipient plans to use it as a carry-on bag or as a city bag while exploring a new town. It also has a built-in USB port and headphone jack for ease of use.

Cabeau Evolution S3 Travel Pillow

The gift of a good night’s sleep on a red eye isn’t exactly something you can wrap in a bow and place underneath the tree — but the Cabeau TNE S3 Travel Pillow makes it possible. This is the best travel pillow in our book; it’s designed to attach to any headrest which helps keep the user’s head from dropping or moving around when sleeping. The air-like cushion is also super comfortable and cozy without being too hot.

Samsonite Freeform Carry-on Spinner

If your giftee is on the go a lot, chances are they could use new carry-on luggage . The Samsonite Freeform Carry-on Spinner is our top pick when it comes to long-lasting and practical carry-on luggage. It’s aesthetically pleasing but also incredibly durable and is able to withstand packed travel schedules thanks to the polycarbonate design.

Away Travel The Compression Socks

Compression socks might not seem like the most exciting holiday gift at first glance — but trust us when we say that once your loved ones start flying with the compression socks from Away, they won’t want to go back. These are the best compression socks we’ve found not just because they’re stylish but also because they work well (see: help prevent swelling and discomfort) without being too tight.

Paravel Passport Case

If your favorite travelers don’t already have a high-quality passport cover, you might want to consider the Paravel Cabana Passport Case. The elegant leather case is our highest rated passport case and can even be personalized with a hand-painted monogram or custom graphic to add another layer of elegance. We also like that this option has an abundance of pockets and card slots to make organization easier.

Stanley Quencher H2.0 FlowState Tumbler

The Stanley Quencher has become everyone’s favorite emotional support bottle over the past few months — and it’s easy to see why. This aesthetically pleasing cup fits up to 64 ounces of their favorite beverage and promises to keep their drink ice cold for hours. It’s also available in a ton of fun colorways and patterns.

Boka Fresh on the Go

The Boka Fresh on the Go set was made for travelers who avoid checking a bag at all costs. It includes everything they’ll need to maintain good oral hygiene while on the go, but the toothpaste is TSA-approved and the mouthwash — this is the best part — comes in the form of chewable tablets so it won’t even count toward their liquid quota.

T-core Power Bank

The T-core Power Bank makes a great stocking stuffer — look how tiny it is! — for travelers who are constantly in search of a power outlet to juice up their devices. The compact 10,000mAh portable power bank is small enough to fit in your pocket and can fully charge a new iPhone 2.9 times with one charge.

Jamaica Vibes

Jamaica Vibes is the latest in the Assouline coffee table book family — and possibly one of the most fun options to date. The stunning visual-first book will allow travelers to reminisce about any time spent in Jamaica (or dream about future trips) while the cover and spine of the book will add a dose of elegant and trendy style to coffee tables and bookshelves.

Contiki Tour

You can’t go wrong with the gift of travel itself, and if you’re looking for a big-ticket experience gift for a younger traveler in your life, look no further than a Contiki tour. The pre-packaged trips will take them all over the world with like-minded young people and range from exploring the Garden Route in South Africa to road-tripping through the Balkans.

Epicka Universal Travel Adapter

Sure, a travel adapter might not immediately come off as the most exciting gift. But any traveler will tell you just how valuable a reliable one really is. The Epicka Universal Travel Adapter is the best travel adapter in our book; it works in more than 150 countries and it’s super compact and easy to pack thanks to the modular design. Plus, you can always pair it with a flashier item like a travel-themed phone case .

L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream

Luxury hand cream is a great gift for anyone, but particularly for the frequent flyer. The L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream is very lightly scented (which is great for the plane), but it’s also incredibly moisturizing and rich in texture. It’ll serve as the hydration and comfort MVP during long, dry flights.

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 16GB

Being a traveler and a voracious reader can be tricky — you likely don’t want to go bookless on the go, but who wants to lug several books from city to city just to make sure they’ve got reading material? Certainly not us, and that’s why the Kindle Paperwhite has become a non-negotiable. The ultra-lightweight device can store thousands of books in one spot and you can even download new content while traveling — so avid readers will never run out of material (or worry about going over the carry-on weight limit with books).

Mise 店 Udon Gift Set

Traveling to Japan changes you; once you’ve visited, you’ll want to return again and again. That’s why the Mise 店 Shoshi Watanabe Udon Gift Set is a major win for anyone who has traveled to (and fallen in love) with the country. The bundle includes everything your gift recipient will need to cook delicious udon at home, all of which has been sourced directly from Japan.

Lavazza Espresso Italiano

If they’re constantly posting throwbacks to their summer vacation in Italy, give them the gift of an Italian morning at home. The Lavazza Espresso Italiano tastes just like those shots of espresso you can guzzle at every corner cafe in Rome. Bonus points if you pick up a set of espresso cups to really set the mood.

SereneLife Inflatable Stand Up Paddle Board

 Amazon

The SereneLife Stand-up Paddle Board is an excellent option for anyone who wants to bring the spirit of resort life home. We tested out a variety of inflatable paddle boards and our team agrees that this is the best board on the market thanks to the lightweight, portable design and impressive stability in the water.

Jabra Elite 8 True Wireless Earbuds

It doesn’t matter if your gift recipient is a city or a wilderness traveler: everyone can use a reliable pair of earbuds to take on the road. The Jabra Elite 10 True Wireless Earbuds offer the same high-quality sound and design as much more expensive options, but the under-the-radar headphones come with a much more digestible price tag.

LARQ Bottle PureVis

The Larq Self-cleaning Water Bottle is a true game changer for all kinds of travelers. The smart bottle uses UV technology to not just disinfect itself but also to purify the water you’re drinking. This means the jetsetter you’re shopping for will be able to comfortably drink from most water sources without worrying about getting sick.

Tommy Bahama Backpack Beach Chair

The Tommy Bahama Backpack Beach Chair is simply the best beach chair around — and it makes a great gift for road-trippers and camping enthusiasts alike. It’s super easy to transport thanks to the folding backpack design and is surprisingly comfortable due to the adjustable head pillow and elongated seat. We also like that the frame is rust-proof, meaning it’s perfect for using at the beach or in the rain.

Gonex Compression Packing Cubes

Packing cubes are a game changer for efficient and organized packing, and the Gonex Compression Packing Cubes are our top pick for best packing cubes . The ultra-soft, lightweight ripstop nylon design simplifies packing and compresses everything from T-shirts and sweaters to socks and underwear, taking up way less space in a suitcase and making it easy to find specific garments without having to unpack completely.

Raytix RFID Money Belt

Travelers who take organization — and safety — seriously will particularly appreciate the Raytix RFID Money Belt. Our number one pick for the best money belt , this practical pouch is super comfortable to wear and is also large enough to hold things like earbuds, transit tickets, and other small travel accessories they may want to keep close by. It’s also available in a huge variety of fun colorways to suit every style

Intelligent Change Inc. The Five Minute Journal

Sometimes, it can be hard to live in the moment and absorb all the magic that is travel — but a gratitude journal can help ensure your globetrotter stays centered on the go. The Five Minute Journal takes, as advertised, just five minutes of a traveler’s time, but jotting down their thoughts for those few minutes will help them remember and appreciate the most exciting parts of their day while traveling or at home.

The Alchemist

This famous fable by Paulo Coelho is an excellent gift for travelers (and aspiring travelers) of all ages. The Alchemist is one of those books that we’ve read time and time again when searching for inspiration. It’s a quick but impactful read that’ll inspire anyone to continue to work toward their goals and find their own Personal Legend.

Andobil Car Phone Holder Mount

The best car phone holder mount in our book is the Andobil Car Phone Holder Mount, and it’ll make a great gift for roadtrippers and car commuters. It’s super easy to install and, once set up, is incredibly stable and easy to use while on the go. There’s also space to plug in a charger so drivers won’t have to mess around with their phone just to get some juice.

Puffer Hug 418 Scarf

Think of the Puffer Hug 418 Scarf as a stylish and equally practical alternative to the fishing vest. Hear us out: this cozy accessory serves as a regular scarf but also has tons of pockets for things like a smartphone or passport. It’s great for wearing to the airport when you need to have documents at the ready but is equally sensible for wearing to explore a new city.

Slip Silk Skinny Scrunchies

The Slip Pure Silk 4-pack Skinny Scrunchies is a fail-safe gift for anyone with long hair. The silk design is gentle on the hair and is designed to not pull or cause breakage, even with regular use. We also really like the elegant patterns and colors of the scrunchies, which can easily double as cute arm candy among a stack of bracelets.

Vinarmour Travel Wine Carrier

Wine-loving travelers will flip for the Vinarmour Travel Wine Carrier. This stunning carrier is designed to transport a bottle of wine without any risk of breakage. It features sufficient padding to keep the bottle safe while in transit, but it’s also made from leak-proof material — so even if the bottle was already damaged and cracks while in cargo, it won’t spill on the rest of your luggage.

Smithsonian White Mineral Globe Paperweight

Smithsonian

The Smithsonian White Mineral Globe Paperweight makes for a stunning addition to a coffee table or desk. The hand-polished globe is crafted from a stunning combination of two kinds of green jade, lilac lepidolite, red stone, marble, and abalone, and it’s designed to pay tribute to the National Gem and Mineral Collection — one of the largest collections of its kind.

The Harmonist Travel Coffret

The Harmonist

The Harmonist Travel Coffret is a game-changer when it comes to feeling fresh and relaxed in transit. The set of three heavily-concentrated perfumes were designed to foster a sense of calmness and relaxation thanks to the various notes, including patchouli, pomelo, Bulgarian rose, and vanilla. It also comes with a striking travel case to keep the vials safe in transit.

Spirit Daughter Malachite Palm Stone

Spirit Daughter

If you’ve got a nervous traveler on your list (or someone who could use a little extra protection), consider the gift of a Malachite Palm Stone. Malachite is believed to ward off danger and fight off illness which makes it a great healing crystal for any traveler to keep in their carry-on or toiletry kit while traversing the globe.

Twelve South AirFly Pro

The Twelve South AirFly Pro is such an easy way to upgrade the economy experience. This handy little device allows travelers to use their own Bluetooth headphones or earbuds with the inflight entertainment system rather than having to use the sub-par freebies provided by the airline. The AirFly is super easy to use as well — all you have to do is plug it into the headphone jack on the plane and pair it with your headphones.

Tumi Leather Jewelry Case

The Tumi Leather Jewelry Case is a game changer for anyone who typically travels with their jewelry loose in their carry-on or cosmetic bag. The beautiful leather accessory is striking in its own right, but the interior makes it incredibly easy to keep all jewelry and accessories properly stowed and organized on the go. The suede interior is also super soft and won’t scratch or scuff delicate pieces.

Four Seasons Velvet Slippers

Four Seasons

There’s something inherently luxurious about slipping into a pair of hotel slippers upon check in — and the Four Seasons Velvet Slippers amplify that feeling and bring it home. These stunning slippers are made in Italy from sleek velvet and cotton with the Four Seasons logo embroidered on the top. The elastic back and rubber sole make them appropriate for both indoor and outdoor use.

Apple AirTag

Don’t let your loved one get stuck with lost luggage sans AirTag. This tiny gadget offers major peace of mind for anyone who has to check a bag (and it’s worth throwing one in a carry-on, too — just in case a gate check situation arises). The AirTag is no bigger than a quarter and pairs with iPhones to easily track and monitor the location of gear at all times — and it has actually helped people get their suitcases back faster.

Nurse Jamie Super Cryo Mini Massaging Orb

The Nurse Jamie Super Cryo Mini Massaging Orb is a frequent flyer’s best friend. The device works to increase localized circulation and reduce surface-level inflammation in the skin. It stays cool for up to six hours at a time which should be more than enough to get jetsetters through a red eye to Europe. The stainless steel device can also be used hot for a soothing under-eye treatment.

Birdie Personal Safety Alarm

Here’s one for the solo female travelers on your list. The She's Birdie Personal Safety Alarm is designed to fit incognito in her handbag or pocket — but if she finds herself in any kind of trouble, it’s easy to grab and sound the alarm to draw attention and deter an attack. All she has to do is pull off the top tab to activate the 130-decibel siren and flashing strobe light.

Dagne Dover Tech Organizer

Dagne Dover

Nobody thinks they need a tech organizer while traveling, but when you take into account all the cables and adapters required to make international travel smooth, having a specific spot to keep everything untangled is major. The Dagne Dover Arlo Tech Organizer is small enough to pop into a carry-on but has plenty of interior space to store everything a traveler needs.

Lindsay Albanese Toptote Leather Hat Holder

Traveling with a cute hat seems like a great idea, but in practice it can be a bit of a pain. The Lindsay Albanese Toptote Leather Hat Holder allows travelers to bring along a wide-brim hat without having to wear it the entire commute or risking it getting crushed in a suitcase. The clip attaches to the brim of a hat and the built-in carabiner lets you pop it onto a handbag or carry-on for a hands-free solution.

Diptyque Travel Cleansing & Moisturizing Set

This cleansing and moisturizing set will be a welcome addition to any routine whether at home or on the go. The decadent set includes both rinse-free and regular hand wash as well as a moisturizing hand lotion — all of which smell just like your favorite luxury hotel bath products. We also like that this option comes with a cute carrying case that makes it easy to store the items in a handbag or carry-on.

Tangle Teezer Compact Styler Detangling Hairbrush

This detangling hairbrush is a must-have addition to any cosmetic bag thanks to its compact design and convenient top cover. The brush combats knots and tangles without damaging the hair, but it’s truly the streamlined design that makes it so great for travel; your giftee won’t have to worry about squishing the bristles or getting anything stuck in the brush. Plus, the shiny holographic-inspired finish is very pretty to look at.

Baimei Jade Roller & Gua Sha Facial Tools

You’ve probably already heard about the wonders of a jade roller, but the gua sha is just as efficient. This set of two gives travelers everything they’ll need to depuff after long flights or nights out. Note that this set is also available in amethyst and rose quartz, should your favorite traveler prefer a different hue.

Tinggly Bucketlist Experience Collection

If you prefer to gift experiences over physical items but aren’t sure where or when your recipient’s next trip is, consider a Tinggly Bucketlist Experience Collection. The gift package allows them to choose from hundreds of different experiences to partake in around the world, from sandboarding in Abu Dhabi to a food tour of Istanbul.

Vasco V4 Language Translator Device

World travelers always have a few favorite travel products they swear by. For traveling abroad, the Vasco V4 Language Translator Device makes the experience so much easier — not just on the traveler but on the locals as well. This genius device provides instant voice translation in 108 languages and comes with free lifetime internet to ensure it’ll always be functional anywhere in the world. The instant translations mean your traveling pal can have real-time conversations with people across the globe, even if there’s no common spoken language.

Pokoloko Harem Towel

The Pokoloko Harem Towel is handcrafted using 100 percent Turkish cotton by artisans in Turkey — and it’s the perfect beach bag essential. It’s very lightweight and rolls down much smaller than the average towel. However, it’s also incredibly absorbent and quick-drying, so travelers can pop it back into their beach bag at the end of the day without worrying about lugging home a soggy towel.

Ugg Franca Hooded Travel Cardigan

The Ugg Franca Hooded Travel Cardigan was designed with travelers in mind. It’s ultra-cozy and comfortable, but it’s also incredibly easy to fold up and pack away when not in use. We love that it’s fitted like a structured cardigan so you can get away with wearing it from the plane and right into the city if you’re so inclined.

Fellow Carter Everywhere Mug

If your giftee is still traveling the world using disposable coffee cups, it’s time they’ve upgraded. The Fellow Carter Everywhere Travel Mug is a super chic reusable coffee cup that is particularly great for travel, as it has a leak-proof seal that prevents the cup from spilling everywhere when tossed into a carry-on. It also keeps beverages hot for up to 12 hours (and cold for up to 24), so travelers won’t have to deal with lukewarm coffee or water on even the longest travel days.

Vacation Luxury Shine Duo

You can’t go wrong with a selection of sun care products, especially if the traveler on your list tends to prefer warm-weather destinations. The Vacation Luxury Shine Duo offers a cheeky, oil-based take on sunscreen with high-quality ingredients and retro packaging that’ll keep beachgoers protected from the sun without actually smelling like sunscreen.

Babelio Mini Sound Machine

Light sleepers might struggle to fall asleep in a hotel, but the Babelio Mini Sound Machine makes it a whole lot easier. The tiny sound machine won’t take up any space in a carry-on, but the powerful white noise will be more than enough to lull your loved one to sleep, whether they’re in a noisy hostel or a too-quiet luxury suite.

Lululemon Everywhere Belt Bag 1L

It’s called the Everywhere Belt Bag for a reason! This Lululemon staple has quickly become a cult classic for travelers (it has quite literally been everywhere this year). The adjustable belt bag is super convenient for everything from hiking to exploring cities hands-free, and the durable nylon material means you won’t have to worry about potential spillage or getting stuck in the rain (it’ll wipe clean with a bit of water).

Longchamp Le Pliage Filet Mesh Bag

Bloomingdale's

Regular travelers know the importance of throwing a decent-sized tote into their luggage. After all, you never know when you’ll need the extra bit of space while on the road. The Longchamp Le Pliage Filet L Mesh Bag offers a sophisticated take on the humble mesh tote complete with a snap closure and both a top handle and shoulder strap for added versatility.

Conair Travel Garment Dual Voltage Steamer

The Conair Power Steam Handheld Travel Garment Steamer makes looking and feeling put together on the road a snap. The compact steamer is small enough to slip into a carry-on bag and pull out as needed while traveling. It boasts a 35-second heat-up time so the traveler in your life can power away wrinkles and creases in no time at all.

Sidney Sleep Mini Travel Size Neck Pillow

Sometimes you just need the comfort of your own pillow to get a good night’s sleep, and this mini travel pillow will do just the trick. The travel-sized memory foam pillow is great for using on planes or camping trips, and the compact size means it can easily slip into a bag for easy carrying when not in use. Consider adding a cozy travel blanket to complete the set.

YETI Roadie 24 Cooler

The Yeti Roadie 24 Hard Cooler will be well received by the road trip warriors and beach bums on your list. Not only is it super aesthetically pleasing, but it can also actually fit an incredible amount in such a compact space — we’re talking up to 33 cans, 26 pounds of ice, and even full-sized bottles of wine.

Loop Quiet Ear Plugs

You don’t quite realize how high-quality the Loop Quiet earplugs are until you really need them. The surprisingly stylish earplugs were designed to be comfortable while sleeping and will serve as a major blessing the next time your gift recipient has been put in a hotel room next to a crying baby or bachelorette party.

Native Union Universal Sling

The Native Union Universal Sling is designed to pop onto smartphones like a phone case — but it comes with a built-in strap that allows travelers to wear their phone like a crossbody bag or around their neck like a lanyard. It’s available in a variety of colorways and is made from recycled material for a more sustainable approach. It’s perfect for travel as it’s more secure than throwing a phone in a pocket or bag as well.

Hotel Lobby Candle City Collection Trio

Hotel Lobby Candle

There’s something inherently luxurious about slipping into a pair of hotel slippers upon check in — and the Four Seasons Velvet Slippers amplify that feeling and bring it home. These stunning slippers are made in Italy from cozy velvet and cotton with the Four Seasons logo embroidered on the top. The elastic back and rubber sole make them appropriate for both indoor and outdoor use.

Conscious Coconut Coconut Oil Travel Ready Tube

Conscious Coconut

Frequent flyers and dry skin just go together, unfortunately — which is why it’s so essential to have heavy moisturizer on hand at all times. The Conscious Coconut Coconut Oil Travel Ready Tube is pretty much the best way to carry around ultra-moisturizing coconut oil without getting it everywhere. It’s pure but packaged in a convenient tube that makes application much easier than that of your standard coconut oil jar.

Metáfora Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Portugalia Marketplace

If you’re shopping for a frequent flyer who doubles as an excellent home cook, you’ll want to consider Metáfora Extra Virgin Olive Oil. This high-quality olive oil is imported directly from Portugal and offers a surprisingly spicy flavor, which makes it great for cooking Mediterranean dishes or simply serving with fresh bread and cheeses.

This holiday season, I think Atlas Coffee is a thoughtful travel gift for coffee-loving travelers, especially those working from home or dreaming of future adventures.

12 gift ideas for travelers in the new year

headshot

What do you gift the traveler or adventurer in your life? You could get them a trip, even an all-inclusive one through Expedia or Costco Travel, or another travel retailer, but if your budget doesn't extend that far, there are plenty of other options.

Have you thought of gifting a hotel experience anywhere in the world? How about an RV rental that your gift recipient can use for a romantic getaway? You can stretch your money far with these unexpected gifts, or go a more standard route with quality luggage that offers smart organizing solutions or comfortable travel accessories. If you're looking for a gift for a travel property entrepreneur, there's an option on this list for them too.

  • The best cheap tech gifts for under $100
  • The best cheap tech gifts under $75
  • The best cheap tech gifts under $50
  • The best cheap tech gifts under $25

The best travel gifts

Below are 12 travel gift ideas I found for the holiday season this year, from all-inclusive vacations to accessories.

Tinggly Gift Box

For the choose-your-own-adventure traveler.

  • Price:  $0 to $299 for experiences and $199 to $1,299 for getaways
  • Features:  Versatile | Gives the recipient choices | Adjustable to your budget

Tinggly gives your recipient the choice of traveling to more than 100 countries. Depending on your budget, you can go for a $0 free experience, or an experience box ranging from $59 to $299. The more money you put into the gift, the wider the range of experiences. There are more than a thousand experiences to choose from, and there's no expiration date.

The Merry Christmas box offers trips for one or two people to visit one of 100 countries. Your gift recipient can choose a trip close to home for a fun day excursion, or structure a longer vacation around an experience farther away. They can swim with the manatees in Florida, take surfing lessons in California, enjoy a sightseeing sail trip for two in Maine, or even take a waterfall hike in Hawaii. If they would like to leave the country, they can experience a gourmet five-course dinner in Rio de Janeiro, visit the Harry Potter studio in London, tour a Game of Thrones experience in Croatia, or visit a Beijing opera night show.

You can select either an experience box or a getaway box -- the latter includes the hotel stay. It can be much more expensive, ranging from $199 to $1,299. I bought a getaway gift box for my sister in May (for her birthday), and she loved it. I purchased the additional $10 gift box, so that she a physical gift to open, but you can also send the gift as an eVoucher via print or email. The latter option is more eco-friendly.

Expedia All-Inclusive Vacation

For the person who really needs a break.

  • Price:  $716+ per traveler
  • Features:  Roundtrip flight included | High ratings | Adult-only options

If you're feeling really generous this year, you may want to gift an all-inclusive vacation to family or friends. Expedia has vacation spots all over the world, from Aruba to Ireland to Turkey, and an all-inclusive vacation means that your room, airfare, food, and activities are all covered under one fee. What's included may differ depending on the location and the specific package, so be sure to read the fine print.

I pretended I was booking a vacation to Aruba, leaving from JFK in New York to AUA in Oranjestad. What were my options if I left on December 12 and came back on December 26? A tidy two-week vacation right in the middle of the holidays. The options that unfolded before me were actually reasonable considering what was included in the price. For a 14-night stay and a roundtrip flight, I would be out $2,685 per traveler. The hotel featured an on-site spa, pool, and gym.

Costco Travel Packages

Special packages for the holiday traveler.

  • Price:  Varies
  • Features:  Different amenities with each package | Taxes and fees included | Costco rewards | 5 nights or more

Costco Travel offers some eye-catching vacations to places like Fiji, Hawaii, Orlando, the Dominican Republic, and Greece. The company has special packages with added value in Hawaii, including trips at award-winning hotels. Certain packages have a "Stay 5/Pay 4" benefit, in which you can have five people on the trip but pay the price of four people.

Costco Travel is only available to Costco members who live in the US. You'll have the benefit of transparent pricing on each package. Plus, you'll receive alerts throughout the booking process if you incur additional fees. And if you're an executive member, you'll also receive a 2% reward after the vacation.

The Carry-On Flex

For the traveler who needs a flexible carry on.

  • Price:  $325
  • Features:  Interior organization | 360° spinner wheels | Durable shell

The Away Carry-on suitcase is versatile, and it flexes to make room for more as checked luggage if necessary. It features a removable lining and a grab handle on the underside, so you can easily grab it from the overhead bin on an airplane. It has space for roughly 5-8 outfits and includes a TSA combination lock for extra security. The cool zipper expansion detail offers an additional 2.25 inches of packing space if you need it, although it may push into the checked luggage size category. Otherwise, this carry-on fits in the overhead bin of almost any flight.

All of Away's Flex suitcases have a removable, washable lining for easy cleaning. There's an interior compression system to help you pack in more stuff and a hidden laundry bag to separate clean and dirty clothes. The exterior measurements are 21.7 x 13.7 x 9 inches, and the interior measurements are 20 x 13.5 inches. When empty, it weighs only 8.15 pounds, and the capacity is 39.8 L (46.7 L after expansion).

Roadsurfer RV Rental

For the #vanlife enthusiast without a van.

  • Price:  Starts at $199/night
  • Features:  Unlimited mileage | Package includes camping gear and kitchen supplies | Free rebooking and cancellation

Roadsurfer rents out fully-equipped RVs for a road trip or weekend getaway. Options start at $199/night for an RV condo with hot water, a spacious kitchenette, a stand-alone air conditioner, and solar panels. However, there's an added service fee of $109.

The benefit to gifting a Roadsurfer rental is that the recipient has access to a brand new, fully-equipped class B RV with unlimited mileage, roadside assistance, and camping gear. The downside? It's currently only available from Los Angeles, with a drop-off point at either Las Vegas or San Francisco, and there's a $690 one-way drop-off fee.

Vacasa Full-Service Vacation Rental Management

For the holiday travel entrepreneur.

  • Price:  Depends on the property
  • Features:  Tech that helps homeowners maximize profits  |  CDC-standard cleaning services | 35,000+ homes managed through Vacasa

Maybe you want to find a holiday gift for someone who owns a vacation rental property. Vacasa is a rental management solution that can help owners earn an average of 20% more per year -- truly a gift that keeps on giving. Vacation homeowners don't have to be a plumber, housekeeper, or concierge for every guest. This solution markets the home, takes care of guest requests, and handles cleaning at a high-quality level. It's a one-stop shop for aspiring entrepreneurs who want to be hands-off about their vacation rental investments while also generating returns.

This means listings on Airbnb, Vrbo, and Booking.com, all managed by Vacasa. It means 24/7 guest support, so the homeowner doesn't have to be awake at all hours of the night. The home itself will stay safe, clean, and stocked, and it'll be marketed effectively to millions of prospective customers. Vacasa prides itself on its tech and the data it uses to give clients more for their property. There's also a real estate side of their site for buying or selling investment properties.

Travel Notebook

For the offline travel planner.

  • Price:  $35
  • Features:  Made to order | Space for six journeys | Customizable hardback cover with silk finish

A travel notebook is a valuable gift for any globe trotter in your life. They can jot down important details, moments, and impressions in a beautifully crafted journal. There are plenty of travel notebooks perfect for gifting, but Papier's journal stands out for its customizability, made-to-order ethos, organization, and travel games, as well as space to plan budgets, packing lists, and itineraries. The notebook has a hardback cover with a silk paper finish and each 6 x 8.5-inch page "writes real nice" and is sourced from Forest Steward Council (FSC) certified forests, according to Papier. There are 96 leaves in each book.

Plus, the notebook comes in recyclable plastic-free packaging, and you can add a free gift note at checkout (or purchase a Papier gift box separately). Inside the notebook, there's an About me page, a travel wishlist, space for six separate trip details (including transport, budgets, journaling, and more), a packing guide, a list of countries, and a map of the world to color. This notebook is the perfect gift for an organized world traveler.

Perilogics Universal Airplane Phone Holder

For a versatile gift that mounts your phone to any object up to 1.5 inches wide.

  • Price:  $13
  • Features:  360-degree rotation  |  Strong clamp  |  Compatible with a range of phone sizes

If you're giving a gift to a frequent flyer, this inexpensive phone holder mount is the perfect stocking stuffer. Any phone between the size of an iPhone mini and an iPhone 12 Pro Max or Samsung Note 20 Plus can fit into this mount, which can clamp to any suitcase handle or object up to 1.5 inches wide. On a flight, that means this nifty tool can clamp to your tray so you can watch whatever you'd like or video call, or use your phone hands-free in general.

The phone holder mount offers 360-degree rotation capabilities, so having it means more possibilities for using your phone at a variety of angles and orientations. Pair it with your favorite noise-canceling headphones, and you've got a comfortable airplane ride. The phone holder mount folds up small and is sturdy enough to keep your phone at a comfortable viewing angle, no matter where you are.

Lightimetunnel Sleep Eye Mask

For the sleep-conscious traveler.

  • Price:  $21
  • Features:  Headphones  |  Bluetooth | Wireless

This eye mask can help any travelers in your life who suffer from insomnia. Not only does it reduce noise and light, but it also offers a wireless Bluetooth connection, so you can connect it to your device for relaxing sounds before bed. The mask has a 12-hour playtime, plus it's lightweight and comfortably designed. It takes 1.5 to 2 hours to fully charge. You can use it to take calls and talk to people through the built-in speaker and mic. If you're a side sleeper who doesn't want to put headphones on for music, this is the perfect solution.

The mask is made of a breathable memory sponge that puts zero pressure on your eyes while blocking out 100% of light. The speaker it uses is thin and of premium quality and it supports all devices with Bluetooth. You can take out the Bluetooth module and wires and wash the mask by hand with warm water.

The downsides are that this mask isn't noise canceling, there's a voice that says power on or off, and there's a light that blinks when the mask is in use.

Travel Water Bottle

For the hydrated traveler.

  • Features:  Rolls up | Leakproof | 22 oz capacity

Traveling and staying hydrated should go hand in hand. This water bottle ensures a small storage imprint, with its collapsible, rollable frame, and it can loop around your wrist or attach to your bag. It's tough, made of shatterproof silicone, and can survive drops. The leakproof twist cap covers the wide mouthpiece (you can add ice cubes and clean easily) and prevents leaks. The attention to detail with this water bottle makes it ideal for travelers. It comes in 8 colors: Gray, blue, green, orange, purple, red, vibrant blue, and white.

The water bottle is free of BPA, BPS, PVC, phthalates, lead, and latex, and is dishwasher safe. You can put hot or cold beverages in it, or even freeze a beverage. The standout feature is that this bottle is leakproof, which any traveler will appreciate. The bottle is sturdy enough to stand on its own without water in it. You can bring it with you, empty and rolled up in your bag, and save a few bucks by filling it at an airplane water fountain while you wait for your flight.

Liquid IV Sleep Multiplier

For the frequently jetlagged traveler.

  • Price:  $25
  • Features:  Gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, and vegan  |  Blueberry lavender flavored  |  10 sticks in a pack

If the motto of a company is "Fueling life's adventures" then you know that they'll have good stocking stuffers for any adventurers you know. The three popular Liquid IV products that I've seen or purchased are the blue hydration electrolyte drink, the orange immune support, and the purple sleep multiplier. When you just can't get to sleep, you might need some melatonin, L-theanine, and valerian root -- and those happen to be the active ingredients in Sleep Multiplier.

To use this product, open the travel-friendly packet and pour it into an 8 oz glass of water. You mix or shake it, drink it, and go to sleep faster.

The Sleep Multiplier is non-GMO, gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, and vegan -- plus, it tastes like blueberries. For every purchase you make, Liquid IV. donates a serving to places around the world that need it most, including disaster zones and hospitals.

Sensate Relaxation Device

For the traveller who needs some relaxation.

  • Price:  $300
  • Features:  Infrasonic technology  |  Safe, with no electric currents  |  Engineered in the UK based on 30 years of clinical practice and 5 years of research and development

No matter how many times you go on a plane or head off to a new adventure, you might feel the fight-or-flight response of stress. If someone you know is afraid of flying, they would benefit from Sensate. This expensive but highly-rated device can help with job stress, insomnia, and anxiety with a simple vibration pattern, set in sync with accompanying music.

All you do is place the large, stone-like object on your chest. You pick a track from the 13 tracks that you're given, download it to your phone within the Sensate app, and then play the track from your phone or headphones. The Sensate vibrates in time with the music, whether you choose a nature, space and time, sacred spaces, or breathe track. Focusing on the vibrations of the Sensate, ideally when your eyes are closed and covered with an eye mask, can help you feel calmer and more at peace. It can help you sleep or get into a meditative state.

Vitamin and pill box

For the health-conscious traveler.

  • Price:  $10-$58 depending on the brand
  • Features:  Organizational compartments

Vitamins are essential to take on the road, because it isn't always possible to get optimal levels of sunlight or nutrition. And if the traveler in your life takes medication, it's essential that they don't forget to take it wherever they happen to be. Gifting a fun or classy pill box shows that you care about the health of the traveler in your life -- and they're sure to appreciate a way to organize meds or supplements amidst all the busyness of packing.

The best travel deals

Below are five travel deals I found happening right now.

Magnetic Wireless Charger for iPhone (save 58%)

Compression packing cubes for suitcases (save 27%), restcloud neck and shoulder relaxer for $18 (save $12), long vacation 3-piece luggage set for $140 (save $100), sun hat with uv protection for $16 (save $10), how did we choose these travel gift ideas.

I chose vacation package deals and cool relaxation devices -- travel gifts span such a wide range of budgets and needs that I wanted to select a diverse range of gift ideas to match. My little sister is the traveler in the family, and I remember how hard it was to shop for her last Christmas. I looked through item after item trying to find the perfect gift, and I ultimately ended up going with a Tinggly gift box, because it gave her the most freedom to choose her experience at a reasonable price point for me. Her reaction when she got the gift, and whenever it comes up, made the search worth it.

However, if I had more money in my gift budget, I would have gotten her an all-inclusive vacation. If I had less, I would have gotten her a travel notebook or accessory that she still would've appreciated. The main thing with gifting is showing the people you love that you listen to them and care about their interests, enough to gift them something meaningful. As I went through countless items to narrow down the best ones for this list, I kept thinking, would someone who travels a lot or wants to travel appreciate this? If the answer was a yes, then I could recommend it.

What's the best gift for a traveler?

All of the options on this list work, but there are other gift ideas that could work better for your intended recipient. For example, is the person into travel photography? If the answer is yes, a camera is a good gift for that individual. If they'd prefer taking pictures on their phone, maybe they'd prefer a durable phone case  or a portable phone charger. Travelers might also appreciate noise-canceling headphones, quality sleep masks, comfortable shoes, anti-theft backpacks, and neck pillows. Just think about what would make their lives easier on their next adventure.

How do I give a travel gift?

You can give a travel gift in person, mail it, or send it through email if it's a gift that is compatible with that platform. For example, with the Tinggly gift box, you could email the voucher to a friend as a gift or mail them a gift box. You could also choose to give a gift card to an airline, cruise line, hotel, or Airbnb. Treating someone to an all-inclusive vacation would be very generous, but is oftentimes impractical. A gift card would cover a portion of expenses and maybe even spur the recipient to take a vacation or travel in the first place.

What can I gift my friend who is going abroad?

A friend traveling abroad would appreciate an item on this list that suits them, but they could also like a free gift, like a travel playlist or a travel journal that you make and decorate yourself. You can also put together a scrapbook, create artwork, or write them a letter telling them how much they mean to you.

Can you Use a Disney Gift Card to Pay for a Disney Cruise?

Yes. You can buy Disney gift cards to pay for some or all of your Disney Cruise. From using it for a down payment on your cruise package, to paying for the trip, to buying alcohol and paying gratuities. Disney Gift Cards can be used for all of it.

Where to Buy Discount Disney Gift Cards

As one of our favorite ways to pay for a Disney Vacation, knowing where to get Discount Disney Gift Cards is key to saving money on a Disney Vacation. Many places offer Disney Gift Cards for Sale. You can buy Disney Gift Cards at most retailers, including your local grocery store, gas station, Target, Wal-Mart,  and more.  The best place to buy Disney gift cards

In this post, we’ll share where to get the best Disney Gift Card Deals and the best places to buy Disney Gift Cards. Keep in mind that since certain retailers are only in certain areas of the country, you may have even more places to buy Disney gift cards near you.

You can get Disney Gift Card Deals online and in-store. Retail locations like Target, Wal-Mart, Target, Sam’s Club, BJ’s Wholesale are best for discount Disney gift cards. But we’ll share some tried and true tactics to make sure you’re getting the best Disney gift card deals.

Can you Combine Disney Gift Cards?

Yes! So, let’s say you’ve been buying Disney Gift Cards throughout the year, and got some gift cards from friends and family. Suddenly, you have tons of Disney Gift Cards! Do you have to individually add them all on the Disney website to pay for your trip? Not necessarily! You can combine Disney Gift Cards on the Disney’s Gift Card Check Balance site. While you can only combine up to $1000 on one gift card, it makes all the difference when you’re paying off your vacation online.

Use Disney Gift Cards to Save For Your Vacation

Planning a Disney Vacation any time of year, should give you enough time to save! And what better way to save for a Disney Vacation that to collect Disney Gift Cards throughout the year.

Save 5 % on Disney Gift Cards with the Target Red Card

You can save 5% on Disney Gift Cards all year long with the Target Red Card. We most like the Target Red Card Debit Card, which simply connects to your bank account, so that you’re not racking up extra credit card fees or interest. All you need to do to save 5% and get discount Disney gift cards is use your Target Red Card at Checkout. A REDCard can save 5% on not only the Disney gift cards but also all gift cards in-store. This means you can also save 5% on airline gift cards, car rental gift cards, uber, and Starbucks. All the things you need when traveling with Disney.

You can even buy discount Disney Gift Cards online at Target.com. Simply add Disney Gift Cards to your cart, and pay with a REDcard at checkout to save 5%. Check out the Disney Gift Cards at Target so you can save 5% on your next Disney Trip. Incidentally, if you’re visiting Disneyland, Target also offers discount Disneyland Tickets on their website!

Grab Sam’s Club Disney Gift Cards on Sale and Save 4%

If you’re already a Sam’s Club member then you can get a $50 Disney Gift Card for about $48 dollars. While this isn’t as good as the Target offer. But, if you’re staring down a 2000 dollar vacation, you can save about 80 dollars with this offer.

Get 10% Off Disney Gift Cards using Cash Back with Rakuten and DOSH

True savers, and discount seekers already know about Rakuten, but did you know you can Get 10% Cash Back with Rakuten at a variety of retailers? And many of them sell Disney Gift Cards. Target, Sam’s Club, Walmart are all included. The money-saving app DOSH is similar and gives you cash back for purchases made through the app when you visit retailers online. Check out our 5 Best Apps to Save Money for even more options.

Get 5% Off Disney Giftcards with a Discover Card

If you’re a Discover card holder then you can take advantage of the Discover Rewards throughout the year!

You can earn 5% CASH BACK on a variety of retailers that sell giftcards! Including Disney Gift Cards. This means you can get Discount Disney Gift Cards, and get Cash Back at the same time! Retailers typically in the Discover Card Rewards program include Amazon.com, Target, Wal-Mart, Drug Stores, Gas Stations, etc. And they ALL carry Disney Gift Cards that you get 5% Cash Back on through Discover! Just be sure to activate your reward on the Discover Website, or in the Discover App as the reward periods arrive.

Get Cash Back on Disney Gift Cards with Capital One

If you’re going to have credit cards, might as well maximize the rewards, right? And Capital One has not only cash back, but also it’s shopping extension, which you can access from the computer or in the app. This option is also super flexible, because you can buy Disney gift cards anywhere that you would get Cash Back!

BJ’s Disney Gift Card Sales

You can grab a BJ’s One Day Pass to get access to a 24 hour window in which you can buy all the the discount Disney gift cards you’d like! You can typically get 3% off Disney Gift Cards at Bj’s. Making a 100 dollar giftcard about $96.99 instead. Again while 4 dollars off may not seem like the biggest Disney Gift Card Sale, it beats paying full price!

Stack Discounts for the Best Deals on Disney Gift Cards and get 10% Off.

No matter where you’re shopping, be sure to consider buying Disney gift cards with a Credit Card that earns Rewards or Cash Back! For instance, if you’re shopping at BJ’s or Walmart, or Sam’s Club, you can take advantage of the discount Disney Gift Cards AND stack your Cash Back or Rewards by using a Credit Card to pay for it. Adding even more savings.

An example is if you head to Sam’s Club and get 4% Off, then buy those gift cards with a 5% Cash Back Rewards Deal, you’d get a total of 9% off! That’s huge when you’re paying so much for a Disney trip!

Purchase Disney Gift Cards at a Grocery Store with Fuel Perks

One of our favorite Disney gift card hacks is to buy Disney Gift Cards at our local grocery store with gas station perks. In the north we have Giant Eagle, but there are many grocery chains, like Kroger, that are nationwide and offer discounts on fuel too. This means that you can get a Disney Gift Card on Sale and then also gets discounts on fuel while you’re there!

Discounted Disney Gift Cards

There are so many ways to Save Money at Disney, that buying Disney Gift Cards at a Discount just makes sense. And since Disney just gets more and more expensive, why not save some money while you’re at it! No matter where you buy Disney Gift Cards, hopefully this post has helped you find your best way to get Disney Gift Cards at a discount.
