A Trip to Jamaica is a 2016 Nigerian romantic comedy film directed by Robert Peters and produced by Ayo Makun. The movie stars Ayo Makun, Funke Akindele, Nse Ikpe-Etim, Dan Davies, Chris Attoh, and Eric Roberts. The plot follows the life of a young couple, Akpos and Bola, as they embark on an adventurous trip to Jamaica for a friend’s wedding. Despite the intended purpose of the trip, things take hilarious twists and turns as they encounter various obstacles and hilarious mishaps.

The movie opens with Akpos, a carefree, extroverted young man who makes a living as a journalist, interacting with his friends at a bar in Lagos. A couple of months ago we brought you the scoop about AY Makun ‘s latest film which is “A Trip To Jamaica” starring award-winning actress Funke Akindele as well as Hollywood veteran Eric Roberts , Paul Campbell of ‘The 3rd World Cop’ fame in Jamaica, Nollywood A- List actress  Nse Ikpe-Etim , Ghanaian Lover Boy Chris Attoh , Dan Davies from Hollywood and Rebecca Silvera  who was the former Miss Jamaica.

The film also includes cameo appearances from Music Stars Cynthia Morgan ,  Patoranking and Olamide.

“A Trip to Jamaica” is set to have its World Premiere on Sunday September 25, 2016 and will start showing across all Nigerian cinemas from Friday 30th September, 2016.

The movie which is co-written by Ay and Dianne Diaz is directed by Robert Peters , the US based multiple award winning film maker who also directed ‘30 Days in Atlanta’.

According to Ayo Makun (AY), the executive producer, the movie is a hilarious installment of the Akpos series and was shot in Lagos, Atlanta and Montego Bay in Jamaica, with an all-star cast drawn from Nigeria, Ghana, America and Jamaica. He says “After the success of ‘30 Days In Atlanta’ there were a lot of calls for more so we decided to do a spinoff to showcase further adventures of Akpos”. ‘A Trip to Jamaica’ which bridges the gap between Nollywood, Gollywood, Hollywood and the Jamaican movie industry will be showcasing AY again as the no-holds- barred Akpos, alongside the award-winning Funke Akindele, who plays Bola in the high voltage potpourri of love, adventure, crime and lots of comedy.”

Suffice to say, there's a lot happening in the preview, but Shep's narration highlights a few key points. 

From Charleston to Jamaica

For starters, the Southern Charm crew is headed to Jamaica! Snippets of the cast trip tease tropical drinks, snorkeling, a yacht excursion, fire dancing, and more. While giving a toast, Shep also says, "I'd like to say I hope that you're all having a good time. Thank you Craig for making this happen." 

That's not all, though. Referring to Craig's girlfriend, Paige DeSorbo , Shep adds, "We wish that Paige was here, of course."

The comment from Shep is followed up by a preview of a scene of Craig and Paige at dinner, during which the former says, "I want a wife and a family." Paige, however, doesn't exactly have a positive response.

The film featured prominent Jamaica’s magnetic allure with popular locations, such as Floyd’s Pelican Bar, Jake’s Hotel, Treasure Beach, and the Appleton Estate rum distillery tour, all located along Jamaica’s scenic southern coast.

Produced by Illumination and distributed by Universal Pictures, ‘Migration’ is directed by Benjamin Renner and co-directed by Guylo Homsy. 

It is produced by Chris Meledandri and penned by Mike White, inspired by a concept developed by White and Renner.

Featuring an illustrious voice cast, including Kumail Nanjiani, Elizabeth Banks, Awkwafina, Keegan-Michael Key, and Danny DeVito, this animated adventure comedy is poised to captivate audiences of all ages.

New York pediatrician dies after falling from open door of moving trailer, police say

NEW YORK (TND) — A 58-year-old New York pediatrician died after she fell from the open door of a moving trailer during a family road trip, police said.

New York State Police in a news report said Monika I. Woroniecka was riding in a 2024 Gray Airstream, which is a house trailer, with her family on Saturday afternoon. Police said her husband, Robert P. Woroniecki, 59, was driving a pickup truck pulling the trailer.

Police said they responded to a scene along State Route 12E in Jefferson County around 3 p.m. for a report about a person who fell out of a moving trailer.

Witnesses behind the Airstream claimed they saw the passenger side door of the Airstream open, Monika Woroniecka’s arm hanging on the door after the wind caused the door to swing open, causing her to be thrown from the Airstream," police noted in the release.

Woroniecka, said police, then hit her head on the shoulder of the road. Police said she was taken to Samaritan Medical Center’s Emergency Room, where she died.

Woroniecka was a children’s allergy and immunology specialist with Stony Brook Medicine and had been practicing since the early 2000s, according to an online medical profile.

"Dr, Woroniecka has extensive experience evaluating children for immunity disorders and frequent infections," the profile noted. "She enjoys working with children and their families and developing a long-term relationship with families while guiding them through chronic allergy-related conditions. Dr. Woroniecka’s native language is Polish, draws Polish-speaking families from far distances. Dr. Woroniecka likes to travel, hike, exercise, and spend time with family and friends."

Authorities said the investigation into her death is ongoing.

US Doctor Dies In Freak Accident, Clutches Trailer Handle To Avoid Falling On Road

The woman landed on the highway, hitting her head. She was rushed to a local hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead.

The vehicle involved in the accident was a 2019 Gray Ram pick-up truck.

A doctor in the United States died in a freak accident when she tumbled out of a moving trailer. According to New York Post , Dr Monika Woroniecka kept clutching the trailer's handle to avoid falling out of the trailer, which was being driven by her husband, Robert P Woroniecki. Quoting the police, the outlet said that the incident took place on Saturday (April 6) on a state highway during a family road trip. Dr Woroniecka lived in Long Island and was a children's allergy and immunology specialist at Stony Brook Medicine.

The vehicle involved in the accident, which took place shortly after 3pm, was a 2019 Gray Ram pick-up truck, which had a Grey Airstream trailer attached to it.

Motorists who witnessed the frightening fatal fall said the passenger-side door of the Airstream flew open, helped by the wind - while the doctor was clutching its handle, police said on their website .

Her profile on Stony Brook Medicine said, "She enjoys working with children and their families and developing a long-term relationship with families while guiding them through chronic allergy-related conditions. A prominent Long Island pediatrician was killed when she tumbled out of a moving Airstream trailer — still clutching the door’s handle — and onto an upstate highway during a family road trip over the weekend, according to state police and kin.

Dr. Monika Woroniecka — a 58-year-old married mom and children’s allergy and immunology specialist with Stony Brook Medicine — was in the 2024 silver trailer with other family members when she fell through the door shortly after 3 p.m. and onto State Route 12E in Watertown in a freak accident,  said police  and family.

Woroniecka’s husband, Robert, 59, was driving the gray 2019 Ram pickup truck pulling the trailer at the time, according to a press release.

Motorists who witnessed the frightening fatal fall said the passenger-side door of the Airstream flew open, helped by the wind — while the doctor was clutching its handle, police said.

The helpless woman landed on the shoulder of the highway, striking her head.

She was rushed to Samaritan Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. 

The traffic accident came as Woroniecka and other relatives boarded the trailer for the final 20 minutes of a road trip from Stony Brook, LI, where the family lives, the troopers said.

The victim worked at Stony Brook Medicine since the early 2000s, according to her medical profile .

“She enjoys working with children and their families and developing a long-term relationship with families while guiding them through chronic allergy-related conditions,” the profile said. “Dr. Woroniecka’s native language is Polish [and] draws Polish-speaking families from far distances.

“Dr. Woroniecka likes to travel, hike, exercise, and spend time with family and friends,” the post adds.

Her grieving family acknowledged to The Post on Sunday that the victim was a doctor on the island, as did the state police, but both declined further comment.

Officials at Stony Brook did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

A 58-year-old physician at a Long Island children's hospital is dead after falling out of a moving house trailer when the wind blew the door open on a highway over the weekend, authorities say.

It wasn't immediately clear where the Stony Brook family was heading, but they were driving on State Route 12E in the town of Brownville, Jefferson County, on Saturday afternoon when the freak accident happened, according to New York State Police. It was the last 20 minutes of their ride. Monika Woroniecka's husband was towing the house trailer.

Woroniecka, who worked in Stony Brook Medicine's Pediatric Allergy and Immunology department, decided to spend those last 20 minutes in the trailer, along with other family members. The unthinkable happened.

Witnesses who had been driving behind the trailer told state troopers they saw the passenger side door of the Airstream open and Woroniecka's arm hanging on it after a strong wind. It wasn't clear if she was trying to close the door. The 58-year-old doctor was thrown from the Airstream and hit her head on the shoulder of the roadway.

She died of her injuries at a hospital. The one that employed her, meanwhile, was left to mourn her in a statement.

"Stony Brook Medicine is deeply saddened to learn of the tragic loss of one of our esteemed colleagues over the weekend, Dr. Monika Woroniecka, a physician at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital," the hospital said in a statement Monday. "Our thoughts are with her family, friends and colleagues affected by this heartbreaking event."

It wasn't clear who else was in the house trailer with Woroniecka at the time she fell.

State Police say their investigation is continuing.

According to Woroniecka's profile page on Stony Brook's website, she has specialized in allergy-immunology since the early 2000s. Along with treating kids who have food, environmental and bee sting allergies, Woroniecka treated childhood asthma and skin conditions like eczema and hives. She also had experience evaluating kids for immunity disorders and frequent infections, and had a penchant for developing long-term relationships with families she treated.

Woroniecka enjoyed travel, hiking, exercising and spending time with family and friends, the page said.
