Be a happy camper
Schedule in a pre-trip check
Pack a bag for your vehicle
Wipe it all away
Have a playlist party
Get some old kit
Picnic tables and firepits aren’t really the place for fine porcelain or anything you don't want to get grubby. If you don’t have a cooking and eating kit reserved for the road, get some old and battered bits. If you’re renting a vehicle, pick up cheap and cheerful bits from thrift stores (if you can) then donate them back (washed) afterwards.

Be an entertainer
Pack multi-function gear
Sometimes it’s fine to live in a bubble. This nifty trick will certainly help make your RV cozier on chilly nights. All you need is bubble wrap, cut to the size of your windows, and a water spritzer. Spray the window and press on the squares for an extra layer of insulation that should stick, yet is easy to peel off.

Try before you go

Join the gazebo gang
Buy a pop-up gazebo – it’ll be your best friend, we promise. You can cook, eat and simply sit under it in the rain or strong sunshine, and it creates extra space outside your tent or RV for you and any traveling companions.

Citronella is your new signature scent
This grassy, slightly citrusy essential oil is known as a natural insect repellent, which is exactly what’s needed when camping by water or in wooded areas. Take a couple of large candles, a spray or even an oil-burning lantern to help keep mosquitoes and midges at bay.
Hang it all
You might think you’ve used up all of your RV’s storage space but what about the walls? Hanging up kitchen items, essential kit and bits and bobs will free up room and make things easier to find. Strong magnetic strips are useful in the kitchen while shoe organizers or pouches can be used for pretty much anything from toiletries in the shower to tea lights.

Get back to basics
Facilities are all well and good but everyone else will be flocking to the campsite that has electric hook-ups and hot showers. Picking somewhere a little more basic will often mean having lots more space, peace and quiet – which everyone could always use a little more of.

LET'S GET TECHNICAL
Adaptiv® uses no glues, screws or rivets for clean surfaces that won’t fall apart. Grooves are embedded in a specialized fiberglass floor to hold modular cubes in place — just like LEGO®. We know things can bounce around on the road, so we designed the cubes to fit snugly. The integrated table bases, frame-mounted D-ring tie-downs, and well-placed drains provide convenience and ease-of-use.
Modular campers have the power to build and organize their space exactly how they want it with these Adaptiv components:
• Modular cubes & countertop lids
• Surrounding & form-fitting cushions (with Sunbrella® fabric)
• Nesting table top, floor panels, outdoor patio table base
• Countertop flip-n-lock extension for the kitchenette
• Kitchenette cube with clean & gray water hookups
• Cooler cube
• State-of-the-art dry flush toilet system

Rugged and beautiful, the system was designed for maximum portability, durability, and usability. With the interior of each cube optimized for storage, you’ll stay organized throughout your adventures.

Happier Camper Unveils Its Latest and Most Affordable Travel Trailer
The brilliant HC1 Breeze is lightweight and compact but can still sleep up to 5 people.

For the past few summers, many of us have been reconsidering how we go on vacation, especially anyone concerned about reducing their carbon footprint. We might be cutting down on the flying and opting instead for staycations , slow travel , or the good ol' road trip —either with a tent or with an RV or small trailer in tow.
But towing a recreational vehicle is trickier for someone who doesn't own a truck powerful enough to haul heavier loads. That's where smaller and more lightweight campers can come in handy, like those offered by Los Angeles-based company Happier Camper . Known for their retro-styled, modular campers with adaptive interiors , the company has now launched yet another version of their popular line of trailers, the even more lightweight and affordable HC1 Breeze .
With a length of 10.5 feet and a dry weight of around 1,000 pounds, the HC1 Breeze can be towed by smaller cars thanks to its relatively compact size and feather-light double-hull fiberglass shell. Seen here is the HC1 Breeze in a sunny beachside blue, a limited edition color the company is calling "Venice Breeze." The trailer also comes in a glossy "Mammoth White."
Compared to previous models, the HC1 Breeze has some notable updates, such as a simplified frame for increased rigidity, redesigned overhead shelves that increase overall storage space, and improved lower storage compartments that allow users to access from the sides of the benches.
Perhaps one of the features that makes Happier Camper's trailer stand out is the HC1's rear hatch, which can open up the trailer's interior to the outdoors, helping to extend the usable space to the outside.
Even better, with the interior cleared of all its furnishings, the rear hatch allows the camper to be used as a cargo trailer for hauling large items like furniture or motorcycles. This kind of flexibility and multifunctionality makes the HC1 a bit more interesting than your run-of-the-mill trailers.
But perhaps the biggest selling point behind Happier Camper's trailers is the company's Adaptiv system , which features various cube-like modules that can be installed in various ways in order to create beds, tables, chairs with integrated storage, kitchenettes with coolers and sinks, and even toilets with a dry flush mechanism. There are even Adaptiv units that can be stacked to form bunk beds, which is why even a tiny trailer like the HC1 Breeze can sleep up to five people.
According to the company, the Adaptiv system uses no glues, screws, or rivets so that modules won't fall apart. Connections on the cubes are created using rotational molding so that pieces fit tightly into the grooves of the camper's 1.5-inch thick honeycomb-patterned fiberglass floor.
On the other hand, the Adaptiv table is a bit different in that it has an integrated base that can be attached to the floor via frame-mounted D-ring tie-downs. Additionally, the camper interior has built-in outlets for water drainage and various outlets for powering small appliances and charging devices.
This built-in flexibility and modularity gives Happier Camper's trailers a huge advantage; users can mix, match, and change the interior of their campers to whatever is needed. Moreover, the Adaptiv system is universal to all of Happier Camper's trailers and can also be used for the company's readymade van conversion kit , which starts at about $6,950. The company says that:
"Whether you’re camping, working remotely, meditating, hauling, attending a tradeshow, setting up an info kiosk… you can create a setup to suit any situation. Rugged and beautiful, the system was designed for maximum portability, durability, and usability. With the interior of each cube optimized for storage, you’ll stay organized throughout your adventures."
Even better, once users set up camp somewhere for the weekend, these modular units can then be taken out from the inside of the trailer and placed outside to be used as extra seating and so on.
To top it off, the HC1 Breeze is meant as the company's most affordable option, with a starting price tag of $24,950—making it an attractive choice for individuals, couples, and families who are on a tighter trailer budget on one hand, but don't want to compromise on flexibility and quality on the other. Touring the country is a magnificent and popular adventure. Using a camper trailer is an economical way of getting around for long and short journeys. Well-constructed trailers allow us to venture through and settle in closer to nature, away from everyday distractions. Setups with solar panels, battery power, water tanks, and propane help us go even further off-grid and stay untethered longer.
After testing a wide variety of camper trailers, our team narrowed it down to the top 10 designs that suit a wide variety of trip goals and needs. Why You Can Trust GearJunkie

Bottom line: The GearJunkie staff is dedicated to exhaustive analysis and helping our readers make informed choices.
Buyer’s Guide: How to Choose a Camper Trailer
The dry weight of the camper trailers listed in our guide range from 1,458 to 6,122 pounds. That weight typically excludes water, gas, batteries, or additional accessories like rooftop tents and racks. Pay attention to the dry weight of the camper so you can determine if the build is within the payload of your vehicle.
The gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) is the maximum total weight the trailer can safely weigh. The GVWR includes the dry weight, also known as the curb weight, plus the weight of people, accessories, supplies, and all your outdoor gear.
The GVWR of these trailer picks ranges from 2,200 to 10,000 pounds. You’ll need the GVWR so that you can calculate how much equipment you can safely haul in the trailer on the road, as well as how many people can sleep inside.
Clearance & Tires
If you plan on driving through rugged terrain that would require 4WD, you should invest in a trailer with generous ground clearance and off-road tires , and consider an articulating hitch to prevent toppling over on uneven terrain. Sturdier tires can also provide better traction on slick roads with snow or rain.
The ground clearance of the off-road models on our list range from 1.5 to 1.9 feet on the Timberleaf Classic Teardrop Trailer , Vorsheer XOC Extreme Overland Camper , Off Grid Trailers Expedition 2.0 , and Taxa Outdoors TigerMoth Overland .
When we take a close look at tires, the TigerMoth Overland is outfitted with the 225/75R16 ( Cooper Tires Discoverer AT3 LT ), offering a tread guard against rocks and gravel, extreme durability, and solid grip on wet roads or trails.
By comparison, the Airstream Flying Cloud 23FB has Goodyear Endurance ST225/75R15 Tires, which are great for towing stability and a high load capacity but are not ideal for rough terrain.
Sleep Space
At a minimum, our favorite compact travel trailers offer space for two people to sleep. A portion of these designs include cabins with a nonconvertible queen-size bed. Other trailer designs have options for a couch-to-bed conversion, like the TigerMoth Overland or Off Grid Trailers Expedition 2.0 , or a structure that supports a rooftop tent.
The larger travel trailers on our list feature a range of comfortable overnight options. The designs range from daytime couches and fold-down Murphy beds to bunk beds to dinettes that transform into a bed. If you’re a taller or wider person, pay attention to the specific bed size.
For instance, the Winnebago Micro Minnie 2306BHS has a full queen-size mattress, whereas some trailers will have a narrower queen-size mattress. The Winnebago Micro Minnie 2306BHS also has a bunk bed that can fold up, so more space is available for storage when the bed isn’t needed.
Also, not all mattresses are created equal. The pad in the TigerMoth Overland is firm with no cushion or give. However, the Off Grid Trailers Expedition 2.0 features a high-density memory foam mattress, and the Airstream Flying Cloud 23FB has a pillow-top memory foam mattress.
A handful of the tidiest travel trailers have indoor space that’s solely dedicated to a queen-size bed and cubbies. Other tight trailers have beds that convert into a daytime couch or even have a table that can be easily installed. We like that even when the couch is pulled down into a bed in the TigerMoth Overland , there’s still a space to pull our shoes on and off.
Many trailers include an awning, which becomes a gem when you consider how much more space everyone will have to lounge out of the sun and rain at camp. Larger travel trailers typically have indoor sofas and dining tables that often convert into a bed.
Pricier, larger travel trailers have indoor kitchens with a range of features. Inside, you’ll often find a microwave, refrigerator, freezer, oven, sink, two- or three-burner stove, cabinets, countertop space, and dining table.
More compact, less expensive travel trailers have outdoor kitchens, and there’s a variety of unique designs. A galley organizes the kitchen area on the back of the rig, like on the Timberleaf Classic Off-Road Teardrop Trailer .
Other designs have pull-out drawers or fold-down units with the pantry, stove, sink, or countertop like the Off Grid Trailers Expedition 2.0 or the Taxa Outdoors TigerMoth Camper Trailer .
The spacious travel trailers on our list have indoor bathrooms with a toilet and standup shower. Tinier travel trailers don’t have an indoor bathroom, but a handful have an outdoor shower head with warm water hookups like the Off Grid Trailers Expedition 2.0 and Vorsheer XOC Extreme Overland Camper .
If your camper trailer doesn’t have an indoor bathroom and you’re posted up in a remote place, be sure to research that location’s human waste and Leave No Trace requirements — whether that means digging a cathole or using a WAG bag.
Interior Storage
Interior storage space is great for organizing apparel, cosmetics, electronics, and other comforts. Inside, travel trailers often feature storage space like shelves and cubbies, but not all offer a latch system to hold items in place while driving around.
There can also be storage space beneath the mattress. The Taxa Outdoors TigerMoth Camper Trailer had an aluminum interior frame, which extended onto the doors, with numerous holes to clip carabiners, hang dish towels, or slide in hangers to dry gear like our dense wetsuits .
Larger travel trailers usually have ample storage space, including cubbies beneath sofas, cabinets in the bathroom and kitchen, and even hanging closets.
Exterior Storage
Outside, tidy travel trailers can also have a toolbox, tongue box, or racks for storing gear and equipment. Large travel trailers also often have storage compartments facing outward, which sometimes include pass-through storage space.
Doors & Windows
We really appreciate it when the doors and windows are built to last in a travel trailer. One of the most unique door configurations is on the Taxa Outdoors TigerMoth Camper Trailer . There’s a back door that swings open and a second door that opens upward like the gullwing doors on the DMC DeLorean in “Back to the Future.” Nearly the entire wall serves as a sturdy canopy.
Windows are great for allowing ample light and can help a space feel bigger, but shades are equally important for privacy and to block out the light of the full moon or campground lamp. Slide-down shades can black out the inside of the trailer, and bug screens can enable airflow regardless of bug activity. It’s also nice to have windows that can be locked when they’re cracked.
Electric, Solar, Gas, and Water
You’ll need to closely consider how much energy and resources you’ll need between trips to a gas station, store, or an overnight stay with shore power.
Even if you don’t plan to charge your laptop or watch television — an option in larger travel trailers — it’s nice to have battery power. The battery can run indoor and outdoor LED lights around the kitchen and doors, as well as the roof exhaust fan — and it can charge up phones. Many travel trailers feature a prewired solar inlet to get an energy boost off solar panels, too.
Each trailer will have a specific capacity for gas and water carry. For instance, the Off Grid Trailers Expedition 2.0 water tank boasts a 31-gallon capacity. The Vorsheer XOC Extreme Overland Camper has upgrade options for a 30-gallon water tank and bonus storage that holds two extra 5-gallon jerry cans. The Taxa Outdoors TigerMoth Camper Trailer holds one 5-gallon jerry can.
In contrast, larger travel trailers have a greater water capacity, in great part to manage the bathroom. The Black Series HQ19 comes with a 50-gallon water tank for supply, a 26-gallon gray water tank for collection (for all used water except from the toilet), and a 26-gallon black water tank for all toilet waste.
Often trailers include an indoor smoke detector, fire extinguisher, and carbon monoxide detector.
How much weight can you tow?
Check your vehicle’s door jamb or owner’s manual for the payload, max towing, and tongue weight rating. Be sure not to exceed those caps with what’s hauled in the trailer and in the vehicle.
What camper trailer features allow off-road capability?
If you intend to off-road with your trailer, be sure to pick one with durable, all-terrain tires that can handle paved, gravel, dirt, and rocky surfaces. Look for a steel frame, ample clearance, axleless suspension, burly fenders, and articulating hitch.
How long do camper trailers last?
Most camper trailers will last between 10 and 15 years. However, numerous factors determine the lifespan of a camper trailer, and the most unpredictable is the human element. Outside elements that affect the lifespan of a camper trailer include the original design, build quality, usage, and storage when not traveling.
Assuming it is a quality-built trailer, is stored properly when not in service, and received regular maintenance, it’s normal to see camper trailers in use after 15 years from when it was bought brand new.

Happier Camper Traveler Revealed: Larger, More Features, Still Modular
It sports a kitchenette and a bathroom..
Happier Camper is expanding its lineup this year with its new Traveler trailer option. For the last several years, the company has been selling its HC1 – a travel trailer that emphasized a compact modular interior at the expense of some creature comforts. The new Traveler – the HCT – rectifies that by combining the modular interior of the HC1 with the larger footprint of the HCT, adding in several of those missing creature comforts.
The new HCT is a 17-foot long trailer, four feet longer than the HC1. The extra space is used to offer campers everything one would need for an off-the-grid camping experience. The HCT features a complete bathroom that includes a shower, sink, fan, and dry-flush toilet. The longer trailer also allows Happier Camper to install a fully equipped kitchenette – a dual-burner stove, a sink, and a DC-powered drawer fridge.

There are two living spaces, each of which can accommodate a bed. The front can fit a queen-sized bed, while the rear can fit a full-sized one. However, Happier Camper's modular design allows for a wide range of configurations that can change on the fly to meet one's needs. The HCT features a unique floor grid with grooves in the floor to anchor the company's Adaptiv cube components, which include a host of seats, beds, tabletops, and storage solutions. They can be easily rearranged and stacked, too, providing numerous different layouts.
Tow Your Home:
The new HCT also features a 17-gallons freshwater tank and a 17-gallons gray water one. It also has a combination air and water heater, with ample storage in the upper shelves and custom kitchen racks. Inside, Happier Camper installs mood lighting and numerous power outlets. Options include solar panels, off-grid tires, and heating options. The HCT's lightweight construction gives it a sub-2,500-pound (1,133-kilogram) loaded weight, which allows it to be towed by a variety of different vehicles.

Happier Camper Review: Read Before You Buy
After much deliberation, you’ve decided you want to buy a teardrop trailer. You’ve done your research into the various manufacturers , and there’s one you keep coming back to, the Happier Camper . You poke around on trailer forums and groups and maybe ask a few friends of friends for their advice on this brand. Still, you’re not quite decided.
Would you be happy in a Happier Camper or not?
In this review, I seek to provide you with information that can guide your decision. By the time you’re done reading, you should have made up your mind about whether this teardrop trailer adequately suits your needs.
Quick Navigation
What Is Happier Camper?
Let’s begin with a bit of background. What is Happier Camper? Founded out of Atwater, Los Angeles, California by Derek M., Happier Camper prefers a more retro approach to the design of their teardrop trailers. They also strive to provide vehicles that don’t weigh too much and won’t cost you an arm and a leg.
Their trailers feature Happier Camper’s exclusive Adaptiv System. This modular system gives you the freedom to arrange your teardrop trailer your way. You can select from customizable countertop, storage, and sleeping areas to sort of make your own floorplan.
Each floorplan in the Adaptiv System includes modular cubes or components. You can adjust these day-to-day. For instance, if you wanted to have a meal with four or five people, you’d move the sleeping space around to make room for a kitchenette. Then, at night, when you have to sleep, you’d compress the kitchenette to create more sleeping space. That’s just one example of many.
The honeycomb fiberglass of the modular floors has a thickness of 1.5 inches, so you can be sure it will handle all these floorplan swaps with aplomb. In fact, you can adjust components sort of like a Lego, in that the floor has embedded grooves that keep your cubes where you put them. You’ll also find everything else you need attached to these floor panels, including a front drain, D-ring tie-downs that are frame-mounted, and table bases.
Then there’s the cubes themselves.
Happier Camper designed each cube in its Adaptiv System to weigh as little as possible. You connect them together by snapping them. You can also get locking hardware for extra security.
All doors, lids, countertops, tabletops, and other wooden surfaces are made from Happier Camper’s Lite-Ply wood. With durable qualities, Lite-Ply weighs less when compared to standard plywood, exactly 55 percent less.
The Adaptiv System includes the following components:
- Deluxe countertop serving bar
- Cube locking hardware and a side wall
- A full kitchen with a sink, stove, pull-out fridge, electric pump, and a cooler ice box cube
- Toilet cover
- Wooden top lid
- Countertop with flip-n-lock extending capabilities; it can stretch to 13 by 20 inches for more cooking space
- Patio table base and wooden countertop cube
- Tri-fold flat cushions measuring 20 x 60 inches as well as standard 20 x 20-inch cushions
- Floor panels
- Nesting table top and bench cube
Which Models Are Available?
The Happier Camper produces just one teardrop trailer: the HC1 . It includes the Adaptiv modular system I described above. According to Happier Camper themselves, they designed the HC1 with “a lifetime of enthusiasm and years of careful design.” This results in a colorful, comfortable trailer you and your family could enjoy for years to come.
The HC1 has a base built from fiberglass. It comes completely bonded for greater durability. The flip-up or jalousie vending windows offer a panoramic view you’ll adore. The windows are also quite sizable so you always have a great way of looking out to the gorgeous world outside.
The roof of the trailer features a contoured solar panel, giving you the option of using natural resources for electricity if you so desire. Then there’s the rear door hatch, which opens straight up so you can access the entirety of the vehicle’s interior. With some floorplans, you could even roll your motorcycle or other outdoor equipment right in there.
You also get electronic brakes for easy stopping, a ridged frame with an included torsion axle, and AGM batteries for plenty of power.
Outside, there’s a rooftop fan with air conditioning . This way, if you’re camping in the warmth of summer, you and your fellow passengers can sleep comfortably at night. You also get a porch light, indoor and outdoor storage, vintage marker lights, a heavy-duty swing jack, a mounted leveling jack, tires with moon caps, and LED marine lights. The door has a circular shutter window blind, a large port window, and custom hinging.
The other lighting and electric features include:
- An exterior AC power inlet that’s marine-grade
- Four DC-powered cigarette ports
- Two AC-powered wall plugs with two USB plugs
- A power converter with your deep-cycle battery
- LED front markers
- Rear side markers with a vintage flair
- Interior LED lighting that’s dimmable
The interior shell comes with:
- Recessed D-ring tiedowns, six total
- Recessed table leg mounts, five total
- Nested upper shelf storage in the interior shell and wall perimeter
- Stainless steel floor drain
- Doorstep embossing
- Side-door storage
- Panoramic windows
Then there’s the exterior shell, which boasts:
- Marine-grade accessories and parts throughout
- Precision components, locks, and hardware
Last but certainly not least, the chassis and frame features include:
- Utility lever
- Seven-pin wiring harness
- Spare tire in the undercarriage
- Aluminum wheels that are 13 inches each
- Independent torsion axle suspension
- Side and rear door hitch receiver that’s two inches
- Swivel-back tongue
- Tough tube frame
You get seven colors to select from for your HC1 Happier Camper teardrop trailer. These include Mojave Sage (white with forest green), Silverlake (white with silvery gray), Sequoia Orange (white with goldenrod), Topanga Turquoise (white with light blue), Bishop Red (white with maroon red), Pacific Blue (white with bright blue), and Mammoth White (all white).
You can fit up to five passengers in the HC1 teardrop. The vehicle has a dry weight of 1,100 pounds, making it super lightweight. That gives you the freedom to tow this trailer with plenty of vehicles, such as cars, SUVs, and pickup trucks. The HC1 has a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating or GVWR of 3,500 pounds. The tongue weighs 110 to 150 pounds.
The spacious rear hatch door measures 55 x 54 inches and the extra-wide entry door has a width of 25 inches. Each trailer tire is 13 inches. The entire vehicle has an interior height of six feet, one inch. The beds have a width of six feet, eight inches. Both LED rear lights measure seven inches.
You get 42 square feet of walkable floorspace throughout the entire vehicle. Inside the vehicle, the height is six feet, one inch and the width six feet, six inches. That width expands to six feet, 11 inches with the bed included.
The vehicle has an overall length of 13 inches, an exterior height of seven feet, four inches, and a shell length of 10 feet.
Happier Camper offers several layouts or floorplans to its customers. These include the following:
- The Mega Bed for up to five passengers
- The Dining with max kitchen prep room
- The Dining (Alt.) for a different take on the layout
- The Study if you need more room to stretch out and relax
- The Sleeper for more bed space
- The Naked, which has plenty of open areas to hold kayaks and other outdoor equipment
- The Premium, which includes a toilet, sink, and shower space
- The Classic, which is a standard layout and a favorite for a reason
- The Essential for all the basics you need
Which Add-Ons Can You Get?
If you by chance think your Happier Camper could use more amenities, you’ve got ‘em. The following add-ons should enhance your experience in your teardrop trailer:
- TV mount: The TV mount comes with a specialty AC power plug and a mounting bracket. If your TV measures 27 inches and weighs 13 pounds, then you can use it with this mount. You should set up the mount under your upper storage cabinets.
- Custom HC1 cover: There’s no need to shop for a cover for your HC1 when Happier Camper offers one as an add-on. The Sunbrella material used for the cover will keep your trailer safe from the elements year in and year out. You get rear hatch openings and zippers on the sides of the cover as well.
- Rear hatch curtain: You can hang this curtain over your open rear door hatch so you can get changed and shower privately. How handy!
- Back window upgrade: Your back window can now slide open with this upgrade. You also get a screen for enjoying the fresh breeze but no bugs.
- Wraparound exterior bar: For the coolest teardrop trailer ever, you could add a wraparound exterior bar to your HC1. Your friends will always want to hang out in your vehicle!
- Concession fold-up window: With a bigger concession window, you can either enjoy the view or pass out food to your friends and family faster. You could even turn your trailer into a food truck. There’s nothing stopping you.
- Luxury mattress topper: Sleep better with a mattress topper that’s three inches thick. Intended for queen-sized beds, the mattress topper can also act as a comfy back rest if you’re feeling achy. It has Velcro straps that connect the two pieces together. The mattress topper is also made from Sunbrella fabric.
- High-performance blanket: The technical materials that went into the making of this high-performance blanket mean it can handle rough and cold weather expertly well.
- Curbside exterior bar: If you’re fascinated with the idea of a trailer bar but want a smaller one, try this curbside exterior bar instead. It still wraps around your trailer, but it’s in two pieces instead of one. The fiberglass pieces separate so you can set them up your way.
- Front stabilizing jacks: If you have a hard time leveling your teardrop, you’ll certainly want these front stabilizing jacks. Your vehicle will move less.
- Suspension awning: The reflective fabric (that’s industrial-grade, by the way) that comprises this suspension awning has reflective properties as well. That means fewer UV rays from the sun get to you and your passengers. You’ll also notice a temperature differential of eight degrees cooler than the outdoor temperature. That makes this accessory perfect on humid summer days.
- Roadshower pressurized tank: This pressurized tank from Roadshower goes on your teardrop’s rear hitch. It allows you to enjoy high-pressure water heated by solar power.
- Clean wave inverter: A medical-grade inverter like this one runs on 600 watts. It provides extra power to your favorite electronics, like your phone, TV, tablet, and laptop.
- Contoured solar panel: The appeal and functionality of this contoured solar panel means you’ll never notice it. It can achieve up to 100 watts of free, renewable energy that preserves our earth.
- Rear door loading ramp: If you bring smaller vehicles or sporting equipment in your trailer, you’ll very much appreciate having a rear door loading ramp. You can even customize it for an ideal fit for storage purposes.
- Side – door or rear door footstep: For younger or shorter passengers, a footstep makes safe entry into the trailer much easier. You never knew you needed this add-on, but you certainly do.
How Much Do These Teardrop Trailers Cost?
The cost of the Happier Camper HC1 starts at $24,950. If you want any of the above add-ons, you will pay more for each.
How Can You Get a Happier Camper?
If you’re strongly considering buying a Happier Camper and you’re based in the United States, you can fill out an order form here or call 844-755-CAMP. On the form, you’ll need to include your whole name, email address, home address, and phone number.
You can have your HC1 trailer shipped to you even if you’re not anywhere near California. All teardrops come from Los Angeles, since that’s Happier Camper’s home base. Only those in the US can have HC1s shipped, though. You will have to pay for the shipping costs, which might be $500 on the lower end and up to $2,000.
Not in the US? No problem. Happier Camper has striven to expand to Canada, specifically the Amherstburg, Ontario area. There, they have a showroom. The company also wants to eventually sell its trailers in Japan, Australia, Europe, and the UK.
The Verdict
While the HC1 from Happier Camper is one of the more expensive teardrop trailers out there, you get a lot of value for the money. Remember that you can customize most layouts to your liking. You also get a ton of floorplans to select from depending on whether you prioritize kitchen space, bathroom space, sleeping areas, or bringing outdoor equipment with you.
The Happier Camper brand comes up again and again when it comes to the best teardrop trailers around. We think they’re a manufacturer very much worth considering as you begin your search for your new teardrop trailer.
Happier Camper produces the HC1 teardrop trailer, one of the better-known teardrops out there. This compact, lightweight vehicle comes in a rainbow of colors. One of the more interesting components of the HC1 is Happier Camper’s Adaptiv System. This lets you put together your trailer layout the way one might snap together Legos. Through attachable cubes, you can shift areas in the teardrop like the kitchenette or bedroom.
Although the HC1 has a higher cost than some other trailers, you get many features that make owning one worthwhile. The Adaptiv System is just one such feature. There are also many generous amenities available. If you want add-ons, Happier Camper offers a whole slew of them.
With shipping to the US and Canada, it’s easier than ever to get yourself a Happier Camper teardrop trailer.

What Owners Love About Their Happier Camper
HC1 Studio Review
We canvassed the digital landscape to see what Happier Camper owners were saying about their lightweight, modular travel trailers. Here’s what we found.
Table of Contents
They Love the Look and Design
“What I love about my camper…it’s so dang sexy! Ok, I admit I was pulled in by attraction. I was caught up with looks, looks are extremely important to me. But when you have looks and personality, aka tough seamless fiberglass shell, off road package, flexibility of the modular interior, and can sleep 4 comfortably despite its tiny exterior – you’ve got a winning partnership.”

“Loving the @fiamma__official awning! Although looks like Granger is happy to soak up the sun!”
“Check out that solar – makes our boondocking a reality!”
“This back hatch is the perfect way to view the sunrise and a hot air balloon taking flight.”
“And that’s only one side on the HCT. So much room and still so lightweight!”
“Impressive wingspan. HC1 Venture can get business done from three sides with serving bars out the road and curb side and out the rear hatch – that’s awesome.”
They Love the Easy Set Up
“My favorite feature of the Happier Camper has to be the hatchback. I can pull up to a river, a lake, a beautiful view. Open the hatchback, lay there, hang out. I can have meals there and really bring nature in but have the comforts of my camper.”
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Camping World (@campingworld)
“Best set up!!!!”
“Loved setting up the camper for our first pop up. There was lots of room to transport all the tables and bins. We got lucky and had a beautiful day to open the windows and hatch, getting the full experience. So many people stopped by to see the camper…I think I may have sold three.”
They Love the Adaptiv® System
“The camper is almost naked! I thought I’d show off this stripped down version of the interior. I was doing a little cooking project out in the orchard. I had the cubes on both sides of the table removed, so that I would walk in and out, and access the table for cooking. The bunks are down into a couch for seating and huddling next to the heater! Mobile kitchen/cooking station for this trip!”
“From this…to this! Swiiiiipe!”
“(Almost) a blank slate…ready to create the ideal layout. Great showcase of the grid Adaptiv system.”
“Being able to change her complete set up in just a few minutes. HC1 Life!”
They Love Its Versatility
“With this beauty, I can camp anywhere.”
“You know it’s the best kind of adventure when you had to put the Jeep in 4WD.”
“A new highlight…fishing right off the camper. We had a great stay at Long Point Campground, Sabastian, Florida.”
“I love the outdoor bar. I know we have some owners who use their rig for farmer’s markets and for pop up events – feel like this is the most versatile camper on the market!”
“Hmm…should we have gotten the off grid package??”
“Friday morning workspace doesn’t get much better than this. Lakefront, blue skies, unlimited vitamin D, and windows/doors wide open…”
“Love the versatility of the Happier Camper HC1. When I’m camping by myself, I can sleep on the bottom bunk, use the top bunk for bags/clothes and other necessities, and leave the table set up for seating. (I’m 5’8” and have plenty of room on the bottom bunk).”
They Love How Easy it is to Tow and Park
“Campground host saw our Happier Camper and said I’ll find a place for you with that tiny camper. He took us to this spot he said only we could get to. It was amazing!”
