Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Has Already Made History 13 Times

And she’s not even halfway done yet.

Taylor Swift Broke These Records With The Eras Tour

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour is reaching its halfway point, nearly a year after she kicked off her global trek in March 2023. And it’s already made the history books. The singer started breaking records on opening night — literally — and has reached new heights at nearly every stop along the way.

Few world tours have had the same impact as Swift’s. It has been a huge boost for the global economy, with the U.S. Travel Association estimating that the tour has generated more than $5 billion for local economies.

Its success was also a huge factor in making Swift a self-made billionaire . Given that it’s not even over yet, there’s no telling how much more money it could generate.

Here are all of the records that Swift has broken with the Eras Tour... so far.

The First Billion-Dollar Tour

Taylor Swift on The Eras Tour

The Eras Tour became the highest-grossing tour of all time before it was even halfway finished. While Swift’s team doesn’t plan to report box office numbers as many artists do, Pollstar estimated she grossed over a billion dollars, making her the first artist ever to hit that milestone in a single tour.

Guinness World Records made it official in December after Swift concluded the 2023 leg. Since she’s playing shows through 2024, Variety estimates that the number could rise to an astounding $2 billion by the tour’s end.

Swift takes the record from Elton John, whose Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour became the biggest tour to date in January 2023. His years-long trek ended in July 2023, and made $939 million over 328 shows. To put Swift’s achievement in context, she broke the record after performing 66 shows out of a planned 152 shows.

Her Concert Movie Broke 2 Records

Taylor Swift at Eras Tour movie premiere

The Eras Tour domination didn’t end with concert ticket sales — it translated to the movie theater box office. After concluding the first North American leg in August, Swift announced that her Eras Tour concert movie would premiere in theaters that October. The film earned $37 million in presales on its first day alone and broke AMC’s single-day advance ticket sales record before it even came out.

It didn’t take long for Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour to be crowned the highest-grossing concert film of all time, with AMC reporting a week before the film premiered that it had already reached $100 million in advance sales . This was enough to beat the previous record-holder, Justin Bieber: Never Say Never .

An Unprecedented Golden Globe Nomination

At the 2024 Golden Globes, Swift’s Eras Tour movie was nominated for Best Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, making it the first concert film to ever be nominated for a Golden Globe . Sure, it got the nod in a brand new category that was practically tailor-made for a movie like Swift’s.

The Eras Tour film was up against other successful box office movies, like Barbie , Oppenheimer , and The Super Mario Bros. Movie, but it eventually lost out to Barbie .

The Biggest Concert For A Female Artist

When Swift performed her first Eras Tour show in Glendale, Ariz., on March 17, 2023, she broke the record for highest attended concert by a female artist in the U.S., with over 69,000 tickets sold . Naturally, she’s went on to break her own record multiple times over the course of the U.S. leg.

She Shattered 8 Venue Attendance Records

Swift has broken attendance records at multiple stadiums worldwide, another sign of the tour’s demand. In the U.S., she achieved the biggest single-day attendance at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium with 71,000 people, Pittsburgh’s Acrisure Stadium with 73,117 fans, and Seattle’s Lumen Field with 72,171 attendees.

Even more impressively, Swift was able to set three-day attendance records at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, with 210,607 people, and New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium with 217,635 fans.

So far, she’s faring just as well overseas, setting both one-day and three-day attendance records at Sao Paolo’s Allianz Parque, and breaking the three-day record at Melbourne’s Cricket Ground with 288,000 fans, which were the largest shows of her entire career .

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour breaks record as highest-grossing music tour ever

Taylor swift flexing bicep

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour is officially the highest-grossing music tour ever, becoming the first to surpass $1 billion dollars in revenue.

The tour, which began in March 2023 and is set to conclude in December 2024 after a total of 151 shows worldwide, has earned $1.04 billion (£840 million) to date, according to Pollstar.

This breaks the record set by Elton John’s five-year farewell tour which ended earlier this year, bringing in $939 million (£749 million) over 328 shows.

Swift’s sixth concert tour is in fact so popular that it has earned more than this year’s next two highest-grossing tours (Beyoncé’s and Bruce Springsteen’s) combined.

Beyoncé’s 56-date Renaissance World Tour broke Madonna’s 14-year-old record for the highest-grossing music tour by a female artist , earning $579 million (£468 million) between May and October, before The Eras Tour subsequently took the title.

Described by Swift as a journey through all her musical “eras”, each show is over 3.5 hours long with a set list of 44 songs divided into 10 acts.

It has received immensely positive reviews from critics, who have heaped praise on the production’s concept and quality, as well as Swift’s performances.

Her devoted fanbase, the Swifties, have turned out in full force to see their idol, crashing ticketing sites, selling out hotels, and even causing earthquake-like seismic activity at certain shows, as happened in Seattle in July.

With roughly 72,000 people in attendance at each concert, and tickets averaging around $238, the tour is grossing over $17 million per show.

According to Pollstar, 4.3 million tickets have been sold to date, and at this trajectory, the tour could realistically rake in over $2 billion dollars if all the remaining scheduled shows are played.

Merchandise has also proven to be a lucrative source of revenue, with estimates that it has brought in around $200 million so far.

Taylor Swift on stage flexing bicep

The Eras Tour is just one of Swift’s many successes in 2023. In addition to recently being named Time ’s Person of the Year, and the re-recording of her decade-old 1989 being the best-selling album of the year, she has broken multiple world records.

In June, she was awarded the record for the most simultaneous albums on the US Billboard 200 for a living artist, with 10 of her albums charting at the same time.

She then broke several more records in July :

  • Most US No.1 albums by a female artist – 12
  • Most US singles chart entries (female) – 212
  • Most Top 10 debuts on the US Hot 100 (female) – 31
  • Most simultaneous new entries on the Hot 100 (female) – 26
  • Most cumulative weeks at No.1 on US albums charts (solo female) – 63

And in August, she made history with the most monthly listeners on Spotify (female) , becoming the first female artist to amass 100 million.

With plans to release more music and continue on her record-breaking tour, we’ve no doubt that Taylor Swift will achieve many more Guinness World Records titles in 2024!

METALLICA Now Holds Highest Single-Show Attendance Record At Los Angeles's SoFi Stadium

METALLICA drew nearly 80,000 fans to the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Friday (August 25) at the first of the band's two shows at the venue. It was the biggest crowd in the history of the SoCal stadium, which opened in September 2020. The San Francisco Bay Area-based metal legends drew a similarly sized capacity crowd on Sunday, August 27.

Fans purchased more than 156,000 tickets for the two-concert stand, which was part of METALLICA 's "M72" world tour.

The "M72" tour features a bold new in-the-round stage design that relocates the famed METALLICA Snake Pit to center stage, allowing promoters to sell more tickets than usual. And since METALLICA 's stage is hollow in the center, there is even more space available to accommodate fans.

According to Billboard , METALLICA 's giant ring-shaped stage also includes eight towers of monitors and speakers, with each of the towers is anchored by a raised platform that doubles as VIP seating, with eight folding chairs decorated with the black-and-yellow color scheme of the band's new album, "72 Seasons" .

Taylor Swift 's recent six-night bow at SoFi was attended by 420,000 ticket-holders, with 70,000-plus in attendance each time.

The "M72" tour launched in late April in Amsterdam.

A portion of proceeds from the shows go to METALLICA 's All Within My Hands foundation, which seeks to assist and enrich the lives of members of the communities who have supported the band and combat food insecurity; provides disaster relief; and bestows scholarships.

METALLICA 's production travels in 87 trucks — 45 for the band and its setup, plus two groups of 21 each for the steel stage and towers. There are 130 people in the band's crew, plus 40 steelworkers, local hires and truck drivers.

METALLICA 's manager Cliff Burnstein told Billboard that between 80% and 90% of fans at each concert are attending both shows.

METALLICA 's two-night stand at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas earlier this month was livestreamed to movie theaters across the globe. It marked METALLICA 's first appearance in Texas since November 2021, when the band played before, during and after a Triad Combat event at Globe Life Field.

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Is First In History To Gross Over $1 Billion, Report Says

Billionaire pop star Taylor Swift’s blockbuster Eras Tour grossed more than $1 billion this year, according to estimates by Pollstar, making it the first tour to clear the ten-digit mark in what was a record-shattering year for concerts.

Swift’s Eras Tour grossed about $1.04 billion from 60 shows performed in 2023, according to estimates by Pollstar, a music industry publication that tracks concert grosses.

This estimate makes the Eras Tour the highest-grossing tour of all time, displacing Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, which has grossed about $939 million, Pollstar reported .

Pollstar said the Eras Tour broke the all-time gross record at an “unprecedented” speed, noting that John’s tour was previously the highest-grossing tour after 328 shows, more than five times the amount of Eras Tour shows performed so far.

Swift broke attendance records at several stadiums, including New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium, which saw a three-day attendance total of 217,635, and set single-day attendance records at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium and Pittsburgh’s Acrisure Stadium.

Swift sold more than 4.3 million Eras Tour tickets at an average price of $238.95, making her average gross per show $17,321,063, which Pollstar considered “massive.”

Pollstar said its projected Eras Tour gross is an estimate based on “ticket prices in each market, record capacities at each venue and comparable tour data.”

Key Background

This year was a record-shattering year for concerts, according to Pollstar. The total gross for the top 100 worldwide tours this year was $9.17 billion, up 46% from last year’s total of $6.28 billion. Ticket sales also surged from 59 million sold in 2022 to 70 million in 2023. Pollstar reported worldwide concert revenue began to flatline around 2019, when total grosses stagnated at about $5.5 billion, but came roaring back after the pandemic. Pollstar noted this year, women had the top two worldwide tours for the first time in 15 years, with Swift and Beyonce’s Renaissance Tour outperforming tours by Bruce Springsteen, Coldplay and Harry Styles. Beyonce’s tour grossed $579 million based on 56 shows performed in 2023. In 2008, Madonna and Celine Dion had the world’s two highest grossing tours.

Billboard estimated in November the Eras Tour had grossed more than $906 million with 4.1 million tickets sold, which would make it the second-highest grossing tour of all time behind John. Billboard noted the projected gross was an estimate and not based on data provided by Swift or the concert venues.

John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour previously broke the all-time gross record in January, surpassing Ed Sheeran’s Divide Tour, which stands as the third-highest grossing tour with $776 million from 257 shows. U2’s 360 Tour is the fourth highest-grossing tour, according to Pollstar , with $735 million after 110 shows.

Forbes Valuation

$1.1 billion. That’s Taylor Swift’s net worth as of Friday, according to Forbes estimates, making her the first billionaire to make the cut based solely on songs and performances. Forbes reported Swift officially became a billionaire in October, largely thanks to the success of the Eras Tour. Her music catalog is worth an estimated $500 million, and another $500 million is estimated to come from royalties and touring. About $125 million of her net worth comes from real estate. Swift made an estimated $190 million from the first leg of the Eras Tour alone and $35 million from the first two weeks of Eras Tour concert film screenings, Forbes reported.

What To Watch For

How much will the Eras Tour gross in total? It’s not even halfway over—Swift is set to perform 85 more shows in 2024, when the Eras Tour heads to Europe, Asia and Australia, with additional dates set for North America.

Eric Church Named BILLBOARD’s Top Country Tour of 2022; Sets Second Tour Attendance Record

tour attendance record

Ahead of closing out the U.S. leg of his 55-show  The Gather Again Tour   at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on May 20,  Eric Church  takes home 2022’s  Billboard  Music Awards’ Top Country Tour award; an award he wears like a badge of honor.

Just over a year ago Church graced the magazine’s cover talking about the future of touring: how, when and what it would feel like, with  The Wall Street Journal  taking note of his leadership pioneering the return of arena-sized live music.

“We all held faith that live music would return,” reminds the CMA Entertainer of the Year winner of the two year hiatus spent away from the Church Choir. “Every night when we hit the stage there’s a moment where I think we can’t go any harder; then we see someone in the crowd who reminds us how fortunate this time is together because they’re  so  in it … and it’s like we’re in overtime. The stakes are higher and the plays are bigger. To take home this award means that we  all  came through this together because  we  believed we would, and we did. And music did that. Country music did that.”

Church continues to expand the parameters of his live shows with two distinct one-night-only stadium concerts at Milwaukee’s American Family Field on May 28 and Minneapolis’ U.S. Bank Stadium on June 11 on the heels of  The Gather Again Tour’s U.S. wrap .

“Playing Nissan Stadium as our last show in 2019 without knowing it was our last left an impression on us,” he adds. “When there’s that much raw energy in one place, it creates a different kind of show. It’s not something we want to do night-after-night, but in the right stadium on the right night, we gotta keep it going!”

For the latest information and to learn how to join the Church Choir, visit  www.EricChurch.com  and follow on  Facebook  and  Twitter  @ericchurch and  Instagram  @ericchurchmusic.

About Eric Church Eric Church spent last year releasing new music at a relentless pace; sharing the results of a marathon session during which he spent nearly a month writing and recording a song per day while sequestered in rural North Carolina – including his latest Gold-certified No. 1 “Hell of a View” and Top 5 “Heart On Fire.” The resulting critically acclaimed and chart-topping three-part project,  Heart & Soul , is available everywhere now.

Just as unique as Church’s approach to recording and releasing music is his tenacity on the road. During 2019’s  Double Down Tour , Church played back-to-back nights of two unique shows in each market sans opening act, giving every city’s fans six-plus hours of his iconic music. The tour also featured a massive stop at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, where he broke the venue’s concert attendance record with more than 56,000 fans in attendance and became the first artist to sell out the venue with a solo lineup. Church has now returned to the road for his 55-city  The Gather Again Tour , visiting full-capacity arenas for an in-the-round show. He is also scheduled to headline two one-of-a-kind stadium shows this summer;  May 28  in Milwaukee in  June 11  in Minneapolis.

A seven-time ACM Award winner, four-time CMA Award winner (including the 2020 award for Entertainer of the Year),  Billboard  Music Awards’ 2022 Top Country Tour winner and 10-time GRAMMY nominee, Church has amassed a passionate fanbase around the globe known as the Church Choir as well as a critically acclaimed catalog of music. His previous project, the Gold-certified  Desperate Man , earned a GRAMMY nomination for Best Country Album (his third nod in the category). Prior releases include the Platinum-certified  Sinners Like Me  (“How ’Bout You,” “Guys Like Me”) , Carolina  (“Smoke a Little Smoke,” “Love Your Love the Most”) and  Mr. Misunderstood  (“Record Year,” “Round Here Buzz”), the Double-Platinum certified  The Outsiders  (“Like a Wrecking Ball,” “Talladega”) and the 3x Platinum-certified  Chief  (“Springsteen,” “Drink In My Hand”) ,  as well as 30 Gold, Platinum and multi-Platinum certified singles.

Taylor Swift Sets Billion-Dollar Record With the Eras Tour

The stadium tour marks the first trek to cross the 10-digit threshold

tour attendance record

Taylor Swift’s Eras tour has become the first set of concerts to gross over a billion dollars — $1,039,263,762 to be exact.

Concert-tracking website Pollstar  estimated the data  based on box office reports and research into market ticket prices, record capacities at the stadium venues and other tour numbers.

Swift not only broke Elton John’s “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” gross record, but she also set the money mark in a shorter amount of time — eight months, during which she played 60 shows starting March 17 with the tour’s debut in Glendale, Arizona, and ending on Nov. 11 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Elton John’s farewell tour hauled in $939 million after 328 (more than five times the amount Swift played) shows in five years. The “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour began Sept. 8, 2018, and ended July 8, 2023. Another distinction to mark lies in John’s performance at arenas versus Swift’s performance at stadiums with an average capacity of 72,000.

Taylor Swift

According to Pollstar, she sold a mind-boggling 4.3 million tickets at an average ticket price of $238.95, putting her average show gross at a massive $17,321,063 for this leg of the tour. Her average ticket price wasn’t the highest priced. In fact, of the top 20 tours on the 2023 Worldwide Tours chart alone, she was only the fifth highest.

The Eras Tour set individual stadium records as well, including the six shows Swift played at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, the highest three-day attendance totals (217,635) ever at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey as well as Dallas’ AT&T Stadium (210,607) and single-day attendance records of 71,000 people at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, 73,117 at Pittsburgh’s Acrisure Stadium and 72,171 in attendance at Seattle’s Lumen Field.

Swift still has many shows left to play when she picks up the international leg of the Eras Tour in Tokyo in February 2024. She has also set dates to play in certain cities in the United States she missed on the first round at the end of 2024 — including Miami, New Orleans and Indianapolis.

Taylor Swift in Nashville: How many people attended the 'Eras' tour at Nissan Stadium?

tour attendance record

Taylor Swift knows how to throw a party.

Swift pulled record-setting crowds over the weekend when her buzzed-about "Eras" tour opened shop for three nights at Nissan Stadium, Nashville's largest seated venue. With a career-spanning set that covered 45 songs in roughly three-and-a-half hours, the weekend included pop-up duets, celebrity guests, a surprising album announcement and the tour's first rain-soaked show .

On Friday, she set the single-event attendance record with the opening night show, but it wouldn't last. She broke her own record, twice — drawing larger crowds Saturday and Sunday evening, according to stadium officials.

'Eras' tour attendance at Nissan Stadium:

With Sunday's concert reaching roughly 71,000 showgoers and a three-night total nearly eclipsing 212,000, Swift set a single-event and weekend record for attendance at Nissan Stadium. She's the first artist in Nashville history to play three headlining shows at Nissan Stadium in as many nights.

The "Eras" tour continues this month with upcoming stops in Philadelphia, Foxborough, Massachusetts, and East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Taylor Swift’s masterpiece Eras Tour sets Lumen Field attendance record

Michael Rietmulder

Concert review

Taylor Swift was just getting warmed up. With a little help from a sold-out Saturday night crowd at Lumen Field that came ready to scream every line, Earth’s biggest pop star had just ripped through “Cruel Summer” — a 4-year-old electro-pop banger that’s arguably the song of this summer — when she decided to have a little fun.

Without saying a word, Swift pointed to sections of the Seattle crowd, which she pegged at 72,000, who would erupt like audible geysers on their queen’s command. “This could go to my head,” Swift said playfully. “You just made me feel so powerful, you know what I mean?”

It was a winking setup for a booming “The Man” — a joyful stomp-and-romp rebuke of sexist double standards — that saw Swift bro-ing around a gargantuan office-themed stage, fist-bumping her battalion of business-suited dancers in jest, as her sequined jacket and boots glistened in the fading sunlight.

After Saturday night, Swift has every right to feel powerful. Although Lumen Field reps couldn’t confirm the final attendance figures Sunday morning, it was the largest concert crowd in the venue’s history, breaking a record previously held by U2’s 360 Tour, which drew more than 70,000 fans in 2011. According to Swift’s team, 72,171 fans were in the house Saturday.

From the opening segment of Swift’s Eras Tour, for which there was an almost unprecedented amount of anticipation , Swift came ready to shoot-to-kill-you-with-a-look, as the stadium exploded with the strike of every pose or lick of her bright red lips. The three-and-a-half-hour marathon was barely underway, and it was already clear fans were in store for a night of entertainment on the biggest, grandest scale.

At 33, Swift already has around 15 years of pop stardom under her belt. In that time, she’s developed a reputation for having one of the strongest work ethics and most meticulous eyes for detail in the biz, and her ambitious, career-spanning Eras Tour takes that to another level. It’s customary for artists with catalogs as deep as hers to draw from the different periods of their careers with any tour. But the breadth and depth of the ground Swift covered across her whopping, 40-some-song set — without a proper set break, no less — was truly impressive, both physically and artistically. (Of her 10 albums, only her 2006 debut was omitted.)

Rather than working through material chronologically, Swift and her band — who flanked the back line of the stage, which had a long catwalk jutting out to the middle of the stadium and a secondary, diamond-shaped stage in the middle — ping-ponged between older and newer stretches of her career, helping the pace of the show.

Breaking out the set into nine or so album-specific segments, each with their own imaginative stage designs and wardrobe changes, only magnified the multitudes of Swift, the country-singer-turned-certified-pop-juggernaut who prompts economic impact studies in every metropolis she visits. Shuffling through the various periods of her career often felt like visitations from the ghosts of Taylors past, from the teenager singing of high-school romance (“Fearless” and “Speak Now”) to the crossover pop star starting to realize her widescreen visions (“Red” and “1989”) and the snake-slaying superstar whose life played out in the tabloids (“Reputation”).

The starkest, most potent juxtaposition came during the first half of the show, when Swift segued from the indie-folk underpinnings of “Folklore” to “Reputation,” with the buzzing synths and crunching trap drums of “Ready For It” making it clear we were out of the woods.

With a wealth of newer songs from a prolific four-album run she’d never before toured on (spanning 2019’s “Lover” to last fall’s “Midnights” LP), the star’s abbreviated throwback dives into her transitional “Speak Now” and “Fearless” eras felt particularly fan service-y.

It’s hard to fathom Swift getting more popular than she already was during her last Seattle date, when she brought her popcorn-ready Reputation Tour here in 2018. But kicking off a two-nighter at the same venue five years later, it seemed that for every millennial going “back to high school” with Swift on a gleeful pass through “You Belong With Me,” there was a 7-year-old singing along just as loudly to “Love Story,” the same 2008 seeds bearing yet another generation of Swifties.

One of Swift’s strengths as a performer is turning some of her less overtly stadium-ready songs into some of the biggest moments in her shows.

Sitting alone at a moss-covered piano, in keeping with the woodsy motif of her “Folklore” and “Evermore” albums, Swift eased in to a heart-leveling “Champagne Problems.” For a minute, there was a rare stillness in the air that the crowd seemed to breathe in, only to let loose in a triumphant choir, joining their leader loudest at the bridge. As the stadium erupted in an extended “Taylor” chant when the final note slipped away, even Swift seemed to well up a little on the big screen.

With each section of the show, the stage transformed into distinct mini universes, and for all the more explosive, fire-cannon-blasting moments, those woodsy “Folklore” and “Evermore” portions felt especially Northwest. When Swift later returned atop the mossy-roofed “’Folklore’ cabin,” she joked that the pandemic-conceived “fantasy world” was “in the middle of the woods — somewhere in Washington state, probably.”

Save for a pair of surprise acoustic songs (Saturday night it was “This is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things” and “Everything Has Changed”), there isn’t a ton of variation in the set list from night to night on the Eras Tour. But with sibling rock trio HAIM joining the tour as one of the openers in Seattle, fans were treated to the debut of the country-rock-tinged “No Body, No Crime” with Swift accompanied by her three “besties” to kick off the “Evermore” portion of the night. Even though her country roots seem a lifetime away, the dark, brooding number is proof Swift can channel an outlaw spirit anytime she wants.

Having executed the most ambitious tour of her career as well as she did Saturday night, it’s fair to wonder if there’s anything left Swift can’t do.

Did Kid Rock and Jason Aldean's Tour Break Taylor Swift's Concert Attendance Record?

About this rating

On Jan. 6, 2024, Esspots.com published an article positing that ticket sales for Jason Aldean and Kid Rock 's joint concert tour had broken an attendance record previously held by pop legend Taylor Swift . "The success of the 'You Can’t Cancel America Tour' lies in its ability to resonate with a wide range of audiences," the article claimed. But the story was a piece of fiction.

The article began:

Breaking: Kid Rock and Jason Aldean’s You Can’t Cancel America Tour Breaks Taylor Swift’s Attendance Record In an unprecedented event in the world of live music, Kid Rock and Jason Aldean’s joint venture, the “You Can’t Cancel America Tour,” has shattered the concert attendance record previously held by pop sensation Taylor Swift. This groundbreaking achievement not only marks a new era in the live music industry but also highlights the evolving tastes and preferences of music enthusiasts across the United States.

The claim made its way to Facebook, where a post by account @SpaceX Fanclub received more than 27,000 reactions and 2,900 comments, as of this writing.

First, although Kid Rock and Aldean do have an anticipated tour together, it is not set to begin until April 2024. It is not titled "You Can't Cancel America," as the claim states; rather, the seven-stop tour will visit primarily small towns and is titled the "Rock the Country" tour , with dates extending through July 2024.

The claims made by Esspots.com have no basis in reality and there is no evidence to indicate that the pair's attendance rates are projected to exceed those held by Swift.

Esspots.com describes its output as being humorous or satirical in nature, as follows:

Welcome to Esspots.com, a website that specializes in satire , parody, and humor. Before you proceed to read our content, we would like to emphasize that nothing on this website is real. All of the articles, stories, and commentary found on Esspots.com are entirely fictitious and created for the purpose of entertainment only.

According to Newsweek , Swift currently holds the record for the most-attended concert by a female artist ever in the U.S., with a 69,000 strong crowd. While Swift has also broken the record previously held by Elton John for highest grossing tour in history with The Eras Tour, exceeding ticket sales of $1 billion to date, she does not hold the top spot for most-attended concert tour for anyone in the U.S., which the Esspots.com article vaguely claims. The highest attended concert in U.S. history was a 1977 show by The Grateful Dead, which drew 107,019 fans.

Outside of the U.S., the highest attended concert ever was in 1994: a free Rod Stewart concert in Brazil attended by approximately 4.2 million people, according to Guinness World Records. The title for the highest-selling tour in history, also according to Guinness World Records, belongs to Ed Sheeren for his "÷ [Divide] Tour," which 8,882,182 people attended across six continents.

We've previously debunked other rumors regarding Kid Rock and Aldean, including that actor Mark Wahlberg would be joining them on tour.

Seattle residents and tourists made history over the weekend, as 72,171 Taylor Swift fans were in attendance at Lumen Field Saturday night to watch The Eras Tour, the most ever in the venue’s history for a concert.

The concert on Saturday broke a record previously held by U2, which drew more than 70,000 fans in 2011. Lumen Field reps are still confirming the final attendance figures, but Swift was also the first artist to sell out Lumen Field on consecutive nights.

Swift added a few wrinkles to her setlist in Seattle, as she treated the crowd with a live version of “No Body, No Crime,” alongside opening act HAIM — who are also featured on the song off of Swift’s album “Evermore.” She also played acoustic versions of “This is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things” from her album “Reputation” and “Everything Has Changed” from her album “Red.”

Dave Brooks, Senior Director of Live Music and Touring for Billboard, estimated the cost of the tour is “well north of $100 million,” making it arguably the most expensive tour ever, boosting the economy in the process. The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia announced in July that Taylor Swift’s tour helped boost travel and tourism in the region, a claim also made by several other U.S. cities.

According to Forbes , Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour is on track to bring in $1.4 billion, with Swift making approximately $110 million already. The first 22 performances (out of 131 total shows) grossed more than $300 million.

The Eras Tour is already dwarfing other top-grossing tours worldwide, including Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band’s $142 million, 36-date tour and Harry Styles’ Love On Tour — the third highest-grossing act worldwide.

Your move, Garth.

By virtue of Saturday night's concert, Taylor Swift can claim she brought more people — 73,117 — to Acrisure Stadium than any other artist or sporting event ever has.

Swift's 2018 show set a then-Heinz Field concert attendance record, at 56,445. Garth Brooks then demolished that mark a year later, with 72,887 goers.

The Swift concert on Friday night — the first of her two-night stand — drew approximately 72,000 fans.

The 2022 West Virginia University versus University of Pittsburgh football game holds the all-time record for sporting event attendance at the stadium, at just under 71,000.

Taylor Swift draws record-breaking crowd at Pittsburgh stadium during Eras Tour concert

The Pennsylvania native paid tribute to the Pittsburgh crowd in a message posted to her Instagram on Sunday.

PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania -- As Taylor Swift continues to travel through time on her epic Eras Tour, she hit an impressive milestone while performing in Pittsburgh on Saturday.

The "Karma" singer broke an attendance record at Pittsburgh's Acrisure Stadium when 73,117 Swifites flocked to the concert on Saturday, according to the venue. The impressive stat marks the stadium's largest ever audience in its history.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the previous record-holder was Garth Brooks, who drew in a crowd of 72,887 in 2019.

"Pittsburgh thank you for making me feel sooooo at home in my home state. I mean... You broke the all time attendance record and we got to be the first tour to play your stadium twice," she said.

Swift continued to give thanks to the "mesmerizing" crowd, and wished a happy Father's Day "to all the dads but especially mine who is one of my best friends, helped meticulously glue every teeny tiny crystal onto my guitar and still never misses a show."

Saturday night's concert was even more special when Swift brought out The National frontman Aaron Dessner to perform her surprise song "Seven" from the 2020 "Folklore" album that the pair collaborated on, according to concertgoers posting videos of the performance on social media.

It was the first time Swift performed "Seven," which includes lyrics that pay homage to her home state, in front of a live audience. She also performed "The Story of Us" from her "Speak Now" album as the second surprise song of the concert.

Will Taylor Swift’s Melbourne concert be her highest concert attendance ever? The Eras tour shows at the MCG may set a new record for attendance at a single Taylor Swift show that may not be toppled even in Europe later this year.

Will Taylor Swift’s Melbourne show really be her biggest concert attendance ever?

The US singer is playing some of the world’s largest stadiums and arenas – but it is likely her shows at the MCG in Australia will draw her biggest crowds yet and break the record for her highest attended concert.

  • Taylor Swift Melbourne concert live updates: Eras tour hits Australia
  • Get our weekend culture and lifestyle email

W hen the Eras tour moved through 17 states in the US last year, Taylor Swift toppled attendance records almost everywhere she went. She played in enormous sporting stadiums and arenas to anywhere between about 50,000 to 70,000 people (her biggest show on the Eras tour so far was in Pittsburgh, with 73,117 people).

But it’s likely that Swift is about to set a new personal record in Australia, where she will perform to her biggest audience ever. The Melbourne Cricket Ground, where she will be performing on 16, 17 and 18 February, is predicting 260,000 people over three nights – an average of 86,000 a night.

The MCG can fit far more than 86,000 people – its official capacity is 100,024, and Ed Sheeran played to a record crowd of 109,500 people in a single night there last year.

The reason for the sizeable difference between Sheeran and what is predicted for Swift comes down to the size of her enormous stage on the Eras tour. Her stage is actually three separate parts that change shape through hydraulics, along with a long ramp – estimated to be about 80 metres long by the MCG – that juts into the standing area.

Sign up for the fun stuff with our rundown of must-reads, pop culture and tips for the weekend, every Saturday morning

Swift’s stage will be positioned at the city end of the MCG, which means some stands will be blocked from being used by concertgoers. But Sheeran’s unique circular revolving stage was placed in the middle of the turf, which meant all of the seats could be used.

The MCG show will each host more than what is predicted at Sydney’s Accor Stadium, where she played her previous biggest concert ever (about 76,000 people in 2015 on her 1989 tour). Accor is anticipating 300,000 at her four shows in Sydney, which works out to be 75,000 people a night.

This means the MCG will set a new record for attendance at a single Swift show that may not be toppled even in Europe when she heads there later this year.

after newsletter promotion

Most of the venues she’s playing in Europe have an official capacity of about 50,000-85,000 before her stage is factored in. The only show that may pose a challenge to the MCG is one of her eight shows in Wembley Stadium in London in June and August; the stadium can officially house up to 90,000 seated and another 25,000 standing.

But Wembley’s actual capacity varies with the artist and their stage. To give a sense of what Swift might achieve in London, the Weeknd set a record for a concert with an end-stage set-up (where the audience is only in front of the stage) last year with 87,000 people . But Adele (who tends to perform with little more than a piano) performed to 98,000 in Wembley in a single night in 2017. Given the size of Swift’s stage, it is likely that, even after her final shows in the US and Canada in November and December this year, the MCG will remain her biggest ever show.

Pink Says She's Grateful to Be First Woman to Headline Stadium in Wisconsin, Breaking Attendance Record: ‘We Aren’t the Cool Kids’

Pink shared a sweet statement on Monday following her headlining show at American Family Field in Milwaukee

Lorne Thomson/Redferns

Pink has all the reasons to throw glitter in the air.

After bringing her Summer Carnival 2023 tour to the American Family Field in Milwaukee on Monday, the pop singer, 43, became the first woman to ever headline a stadium in the state. Pink even broke an attendance record.

The “So What”musician shared just how grateful she was to reach the milestone with a thoughtful post on Instagram following the performance.

In the caption of a photo of her doing soundcheck in the empty stadium, she wrote, “I was just told that I am the very first female to ever headline a stadium in Wisconsin, and that we broke the attendance record. Sometimes I don’t know why they are looking at me when they tell me these things. I feel like saying… ‘me?? Are you sure??’”

“Here’s what I have to say about all of this. I’ll try to keep it short,” she continued. “I am a little fiery ball of gratitude catapulting around the world trying to spread love and truth and the courage to feel everything we can feel.”

Pink also pointed to how much her fans’ support means to her. “I am full to the brim with real love for you all,” she said. “I look at your faces and I see smiles and tears and wrinkles and laughter and real pain. And we get to share all of that together. And we have history, too. We’ve been doing this together for a while now.”

The post concluded, “It means the world to me. It is never lost on me. We aren’t the cool kids, Thank God. We’re just gritty, magnificent humans, doing our best. Thank you for letting me in. #reallove #gratitude #webreakrecordsoverhere #summercarnivaltour2023 #fuckyeah.”

The sweet energy included in the comment section. One fan who saw the singer-songwriter live for the first time on Monday commented to say just how “amazing” the performance was. “I had the chills, smiles, and tears throughout!” the fan wrote. “Hope someone slips you a little candy. You deserve it!”

The "Raise Your Glass" performer, who has two children with her husband Carey Hart , 48, replied, “hahaha my kids just gave me a ‘kiss’ so I did get chocolate after all.”

Her tour openers, the alternative rock band GROUPLOVE also sung their praises, “❤️❤️❤️so honored to be out with you. You inspire us every night.”

Andreas Rentz/Getty Images

Pink has been on her Summer Carnival tour since early June. After performing in Europe, the North American leg of the tour kicked off on July 28 and continues until Oct. 9.

She’s been feeling the love throughout the tour. During her show on July 20 in Munich, fans captured a moment in which clouds in the sky formed the shape of a heart as she dedicated her song “When I Get There” to her late father, Vietnam War veteran Jim Moore, who died in 2021 at age 75 after being diagnosed with prostate cancer.

The pop star also took a moment to pay tribute to Sinead O’Connor following her death by bringing out the tour’s special guest Brandi Carlile to perform a duet of the Irish singer-songwriter’s hit “Nothing Compares 2 U.”

After Summer Carnival wraps up, Pink will set out on the TRUSTFALL Tour , beginning on Oct. 12 and going through Nov. 18.

Jason aldean concert breaks attendance records: “it’s a movement”.

Jason Aldean played Hershey Stadium in Hershey, PA and broke attendance records, not just for there, but any concert ever in Pennsylvania. As far as you could see there were Jason Aldean fans. It was amazing

After the “Small Town” controversy, people came out in droves. They wanted him to know they were with him. They agreed with “Try That In A Small Town”. This is his moment and these are his people.

This was bigger than any Taylor Swift concert. People came from as far as Pittsburgh and Baltimore to see Jason Aldean perform. They danced and sang and cheered. It certainly was a sight to see. This was peak America.

And he pulled out all the hits. Of course he played “Small Town”, but also classics like “My Sister Tastes Like My Cousin”, “Blame It On The Meth” “Caught My Wife With The Horse Again” and the seminal favorite “I Hate Gay People”

We caught up with local residents Joe Barron and Sandy Batt at the whites only restroom where he was A Framing her in stall B, where they said this was the first date they’ve had in a long time, with him being locked up for stealing catalytic converters and her in rehab for drugs. “She’s my favorite cousin” he exclaimed. Obviously.

Looking over the crowd it was a sea of white, unwashed faces, each looking dumber than the last waiting for their favorite song to be played, waving confederate flags even though they were above the Mason Dixon line where the south was handed their own ass.

But it’s obvious that a good time was had by all, between the really bad music, the MAGA hats, the not subtle at all racist overtones, and the incest, of course the incest, it was a rousing success. God bless America!

11 Reasons Why 2023 Is Ed Sheeran's Definitive Year: Two Albums, Stadium Attendance Records & More

What may just be Ed Sheeran's busiest year yet has arguably also been his most career-defining. From epic special guests on tour to unique fan surprises, take a look at 11 ways 2023 has been monumental for the pop superstar.

It's hard to say that Ed Sheeran is having a "moment" — since his debut album + in 2011, he's had countless groundbreaking career milestones. But 2023 may just be his most monumental year yet.

Sheeran's banner 2023 came on the heels of what was arguably his hardest year to date, as his Disney+ documentary, Ed Sheeran: The Sum Of It All detailed. The four-part doc sees the star cope with losing his best friend, his wife's cancer diagnosis, and his copyright case for "Shape of You" — and in turn, channeling all of that pain and grief into his sixth album, Subtract . By the end of the doc, Sheeran says of his wife's positive prognosis and the pending album releases, "All great news. And heading into a year where, hopefully, it's all good news."

Fortunately for the four-time GRAMMY winner, 2023 has been all good news. Sheeran himself has said this year has been his best year so far, telling fans on Reddit , "The older I get, the more I feel I'm figuring it out and having more fun with it."

His latest 2023 achievement comes in the form of Autumn Variations , Sheeran's seventh album and second in just five months. What's more, the LP arrived just one week after Sheeran broke yet another stadium attendance record at Los Angeles' SoFi Stadium, where he ended his North American Mathematics Tour on Sept. 23. (He'll play a rescheduled show in Las Vegas on Oct. 28 after experiencing production issues on Sept. 9.)

Below, check out 11 moments that helped 2023 become Ed Sheeran's definitive year.

Paying Tribute to Jamal Edwards

Sheeran started out the new year with a beautiful tribute to his late best friend, Jamal Edwards, on the YouTube channel for SBTV, which Edwards founded in 2006. Shot in Stamford Bridge — the home to Edwards' favorite football team, Chelsea F.C. — surrounded by candles, Sheeran raps about the anguish over losing his "brother" and vows to keep his legacy alive.

Edwards, who helped launch Sheeran's career in the early days, died suddenly from a drug-induced heart attack in February 2022. His death hit Sheeran hard, inspiring several songs for Subtract , including lead single "Eyes Closed." The F64 video relaunched the series for SBTV and garnered over 2 million views.

"Everyone remembers him the way the media is telling you — that he was a mogul and he set up SBTV and he was worth this and that," Sheeran emotionally told Zane Lowe in their Apple Music interview upon Subtract 's May release. "But, he was just a really great, lovely, funny bloke."

Breaking Multiple Stadium Attendance Records

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Ed Sheeran (@teddysphotos)

Throughout his Mathematics World Tour this year, Sheeran has broken several stadium attendance records — some of which were his own records. He first broke some in Melbourne, Brisbane, Wellington, and Perth in February and March;. at Melbourne's MCG Stadium, Sheeran initially broke the record by performing to a 107,000-strong crowd on March 2, but topped that record 24 hours later with 109,500 fans for this March 3 show.

"Ed loves to break a record and he's smashed this one," Matt Gudinski, CEO of Mushroom Group, the live entertainment management group for the Mathematics World Tour, said in a press release.

In North America, Sheeran continued smashing attendance records in Santa Clara, Minneapolis, New Jersey, Seattle, Denver, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Foxborough, Chicago, Nashville, Kansas City, Vancouver, and Los Angeles. As Sheeran noted on Instagram, his biggest US attendance was at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, where he played to more than 82,000 fans.

"My dad told me if you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere, and today was really reminiscing about playing my first show at mercury lounge in 2012 to 130 people," he added in the caption. "It feels like a dream today."

Debuting A Disney+ Docuseries

In May, Sheeran released a documentary series with Disney+ alongside his Subtract release. It documented the process of the album, and showed a little more depth into Sheeran's personal life — one that he keeps very private.

His wife, Cherry Seaborn, came up with the idea of the documentary after she was diagnosed with cancer while pregnant with their second child. Fortunately, it ended up being less serious than it was initially diagnosed, but it made her reflect on her own mortality — what people's perception of her would be and what she would leave behind.

"For Ed, the whole point is that he wants to say to people, 'I'm not just this music machine. I'm not just this robot that tries to get No. 1. I'm a father. I'm a son. I'm a friend. I'm a husband,'" Seaborn reflects in the docuseries.

Filmed throughout 2022, the series follows Sheeran as he processes his pain and grief over the loss of Edwards, while also working on his visual album. The four-episode series focused on the themes Love, Loss, Focus, and Release.

After the release of the album and documentary, Sheeran told Z100's The Elvis Duran Morning Show how much he enjoys hearing that people are connecting with both the record and docuseries despite its sad undertones.

"What I didn't want is like, 'sad pop star does sad documentary and sad album,'" Sheeran explains. "What I wanted was to do a sort of snapshot of grief and depression and have people connect it to their own feelings. The people that made the documentary for me, two of them lost their mothers whilst we were doing the documentary. They found the process cathartic by making it and watching it. I think it's good."

Releasing Subtract

Subtract , the final album in Sheeran's mathematically titled series, arrived on May 5. It's the first of his albums to have a visual album alongside it — 14 different music videos created for each song.

During his press tour, Sheeran shared that he loved all of his albums, but Subtract reflected more of who he was at the start of his career as an acoustic singer/songwriter. Because of this, he felt uncomfortable about the release, unsure how it would do commercially.

"It's foreign territory for me," Sheeran told Zane Lowe. "Usually with Equals , Plus or Multiply , it's like you write for three years and pick the best songs and then that's the album, whereas this one I wrote for a month and all the songs came out. It's not even necessarily a risk because my fans originally liked me for my singer/songwriter stuff, but it's the unknown of not having 'Shivers' to fall back on. Each of my albums, I've always been like I've got this ."

Subtract in fact has been a commercial success: Sheeran reached his sixth No. 1 on the UK Music Chart, becoming the UK's fastest-selling album of 2023 so far, shifting 76,000 chart units in its opening week. It also reached No. 1 in Australia, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Scotland, and Switzerland, and hit No. 2 on the Billboard 200 in the U.S.

Winning Two "Thinking Out Loud" Copyright Lawsuits

Within two weeks of each other in May, Sheeran won two copyright infringement lawsuits involving his 2014 GRAMMY-winning song "Thinking Out Loud," which was sued for its similarities to Marvin Gaye 's classic "Let's Get It On." He believes the verdict would help protect the creative process for songwriters in the U.S. and globally; Sheeran even claimed he would quit the music industry if he had lost the case.

"I am obviously very happy with the outcome of the case and it looks like I am not having to retire from my day job after all," he said after the rulings . "But at the same time I'm unbelievably frustrated that baseless claims like this are allowed to go to court at all."

Sheeran testified in court with his guitar, playing demos for the jury to prove the 1-3-4-5 chord progression at issue was a common "building block" of pop music and couldn't be owned. Music experts for the defense also proved that the chords were used prior to Gaye's song. After three hours of deliberations that followed the two-week trial, the jury were in favor of Sheeran, finding that he independently created his hit single.

Performing With Luke Combs At The ACM Awards

On May 11, Sheeran made his Academy of Country Music Awards debut with his Subtract track "Life Goes On," which he performed as a duet with country superstar Luke Combs . The duet version of the song was officially released following the show.

While it was Sheeran's first ACM appearance, it wasn't the first time he and Combs have performed together. Combs — who has covered Sheeran's song "Dive" many times — brought Sheeran out as a surprise guest while singing "Dive" during his C2C Festival set in March 2022. (Combs later released an official recorded version of his cover.)

Their friendship hit a whole new level after Sheeran posted a video on Instragram of the country star teaching him how to shotgun a beer. Combs finished his beer within three seconds, to which Sheeran said, "That's really impressive."

Surprising Fans All Over The Country

In conjunction with the release of Subtract in May, Sheeran teamed up with American Express to create a weekend Subtract Pop-Up experience in New York City, Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago, and Boston. Along with giving fans an interactive take on the album, Sheeran made surprise appearances to the pop-ups in NYC, LA, and Dallas, performing several songs outside each venue.

Sheeran made surprise appearances at iconic establishments on several stops of his tour — from performing "Lego House" at the LEGO Store at the Mall of America in Minnesota, to playing barista at the Starbucks' original Pike Place location in Seattle, to serving up cheesesteaks at Philadelphia's famous Philip's Steaks. He also sang "Thinking Out Loud" for not one, but two sets of newlyweds: one at his favorite karaoke bar in Nashville, and another at Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas.

Before his Chicago concert at Soldier Field, Sheeran stepped behind the counter of The Wieners Circle, a restaurant notoriously known for hurling insults at their customers while serving hot dogs. According to a tweet from the establishment , Sheeran's stint seemingly held up his reputation as one of the nicest guys in the industry: "Our newest trainee @edsheeran has a lot to learn, he's way too proper and friendly."

He added to the fun with Autumn Variations , performing tracks from the album in fans' homes, which he unveiled in a series of videos and an album version titled Autumn Variations (Fan Living Room Sessions) .

Giving Intimate Subtract Concerts

Alongside Sheeran's North American stadium shows, he played a series of intimate performances of Subtract in its entirety (as well as his biggest songs) at much smaller venues. The Subtract Tour was inspired by Sheeran's performance at London's Union Chapel, where he played the tracks in front of a crowd for the first time. As he was performing, he began to weep — a rare occurrence for the star, but an important learning moment.

"Every time you release music, it starts to just belong to the public. That's why music is really special because whenever an artist releases music, it does belong to you guys. It does become your stories and your thoughts," Sheeran said during his Subtract Tour show in Los Angeles. "And what I wanted with this album was to come out and play it more so I can feel less sad about it. It's kind of a grieving process for me to sort of stand on stage and sing these songs."

Performing Alongside His Heroes & Fellow Superstars

It's no surprise that a global superstar like Ed Sheeran would draw a number of famous folks to his concerts — like Chef Gordon Ramsey, Chris Hemsworth, Lil Nas X , and Matt Damon, who all paid Sheeran a surprise visit at his Metlife show.

But it was the guests that appeared next to him on stage that surprised the fans, too. Ontario-bred singer Shawn Mendes surprised the crowd at Rogers Centre in Toronto, where the pair sang Sheeran's 2011 single "Lego House" and Mendes' 2017 hit, "There's Nothin' Holding Me Back." Mendes had originally wanted to attend the concert , but Sheeran suggested, "You can't just come to the show. You gotta come up and sing a song."

When Sheeran's opener Khalid couldn't perform in Foxborough, Massachusetts, Sheeran called on some friends to help out: John Mayer on June 30 and Little Big Town on July 1. After Mayer opened the show, he later joined Sheeran on stage to sing "Thinking Out Loud" which they've performed together the 2015 GRAMMYs and again at Mayer's show in Tokyo in 2019.

"When Ed asked me, the idea was just too intriguing to pass up," Mayer wrote on Instagram . "I love the opportunity to help cover for two of my friends at the same time."

Two weeks later, Sheeran asked his Detroit crowd if he could perform a cover of the city's rap icon Eminem . In the middle of singing "Lose Yourself," Eminem emerged from beneath the stage and joined in on the song. They continued their duets with Eminem's 2000 hit "Stan," which the duo performed together during the rapper's induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame last year.

"I remember spraying my hair yellow and rapping Eminem in the school talent show when I was 11, insane to be able to bring him out to my show in Detroit," Sheeran reminisced on Instagram . "Really a moment I will never forget, a real career and life highlight."

Sheeran continued the trend of bringing out a performer from their hometown with Macklemore at Lumen Field in Seattle. Sheeran caught up with Macklemore that day — as he told the crowd, they've been friends for 10 years — and invited him to perform alongside him that night."

The duo, who performed together back in 2014 at the iHeartRadio Music Festival, sang Macklemore's hits "Thrift Shop" and "Can't Hold Us."

Opening For John Mayer At The Wiltern

View this profile on Instagram John Mayer (@ johnmayer ) • Instagram photos and videos

After opening for Sheeran at Gillette Stadium, John Mayer called on his friend to repay the favor to support a good cause at LA's The Wiltern on Sept. 19. The show benefitted the Heart and Armor Foundation, which supports the health of veterans of war.

Sheeran kicked off the evening with seven songs, including "Castle on the Hill," "Bad Habits," "Shivers," and "Shape of You." He later joined Mayer on stage to duet on 2006's Continuum fan favorite, "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room," and a cover of Tom Petty's "Free Fallin."

Following the duets, the two hugged and Sheeran told the crowd, "I just said to John, 'I feel like I'm going to watch that on YouTube for the rest of my life.' That was so special."

Releasing His First Album On His Own Label

As personal as Subtract was for Sheeran, Autumn Variations is truly his very own. It marks his first album released on his own label, Gingerbread Man Records.

Like he did on Subtract , Sheeran teamed up with The National 's Aaron Dessner to create Autumn Variations , which he released on Sept. 29. Inspired by the composer Sir Edward Elgar — who composed Enigma Variations , where each of the 14 compositions were about a different one of his friends — Sheeran wanted to do the same about his own pals. In the fall of 2021, Sheeran and Dessner started working on music together, which Sheeran said in a statement "captured the feeling of autumn so wonderfully."

"When I went through a difficult time at the start of last year, writing songs helped me understand my feelings and come to terms with what was going on, and when I learned about my friends' different situations, I wrote songs, some from their perspectives, some from mine, to capture how they and I viewed the world at that time," he added. "There were highs of falling in love and new friendships among lows of heartbreak, depression, loneliness and confusion."

By going through his own record label, Autumn Variations will mark the first studio album that Sheeran will own the copyrights to. With ownership of his work, Sheeran has more freedom to release whatever he wants and however he wants to — and not worry about industry pressures.

As Sheeran revealed in an "Ask Me Anything" session on his Instagram stories on the eve of Autumn Variations ' release, he has no expectations for the album to perform as well commercially as his past releases. The past year reminded him why he originally wanted to become an artist: to be able to release music that he wants out there.

"I haven't released an album independently since I was 19," Sheeran said. "I'm super excited to just put an album out for the sake of putting an album out and not having any sort of commercial pressures around that. And yeah, no singles, no videos and I hope you love it. It's meant to just feel like a warm hug."

17 Love Songs That Have Won GRAMMYs: "I Will Always Love You," "Drunk In Love" & More

Over the GRAMMYs' 66-year history, artists from Frank Sinatra to Ed Sheeran have taken home golden gramophones for their heartfelt tunes. Take a look at some of the love songs that have won GRAMMYs.

Editor's Note: This is an update to a story from 2017.

Without heart-bursting, world-shifting love songs, music wouldn't be the same. There are countless classic and chart-topping hits dedicated to love, and several of them have won GRAMMYs.

We're not looking at tunes that merely deal with shades of love or dwell in heartbreak. We're talking out-and-out, no-holds-barred musical expressions of affection — the kind of love that leaves you wobbly at the knees.

No matter how you're celebrating Valentine's Day (or not), take a look at 18 odes to that feel-good, mushy-gushy love that have taken home golden gramophones over the years.

Frank Sinatra , "Strangers In The Night"

Record Of The Year / Best Vocal Performance, Male, 1967

Ol' Blue Eyes offers but a glimmer of hope for the single crowd on Valentine's Day, gently ruminating about exchanging glances with a stranger and sharing love before the night is through.

Willie Nelson , "Always On My Mind"

Best Country Vocal Performance, Male, 1983

In this cover, Nelson sings to the woman in his life, lamenting over those small things he should have said and done, but never took the time. Don't find yourself in the same position this Valentine's Day.

Lionel Richie , "Truly"

Best Pop Vocal Performance, Male, 1983

"Truly" embodies true dedication to a loved one, and it's delivered with sincerity from the king of '80s romantic pop — who gave life to the timeless love-song classics "Endless Love," "Still" and "Three Times A Lady."

Roy Orbison , "Oh, Pretty Woman"

Best Pop Vocal Performance, Male, 1991

Orbison captures the essence of encountering a lovely woman for the first time, and offers helpful one-liners such as "No one could look as good as you" and "I couldn't help but see … you look as lovely as can be." Single men, take notes.

Whitney Houston , "I Will Always Love You"

Record Of The Year, Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female, 1994

Houston passionately delivers a message of love, remembrance and forgiveness on her version of this song, which was written by country sweetheart Dolly Parton and first nominated for a GRAMMY in 1982.

Celine Dion , "My Heart Will Go On (Love Theme From Titanic)"

Record Of The Year, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, 1999

This omnipresent theme song from the 1997 film Titanic was propelled to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 as the story of Jack and Rose (played by Leonardo DiCaprio and GRAMMY winner Kate Winslet) swept the country.

Shania Twain , "You're Still The One"

Best Female Country Vocal Performance, Best Country Song, 1999

Co-written with producer and then-husband Mutt Lange, Twain speaks of beating the odds with love and perseverance in lyrics such as, "I'm so glad we made it/Look how far we've come my baby," offering a fresh coat of optimism for couples of all ages.

Usher & Alicia Keys , "My Boo"

Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals, 2005

"There's always that one person that will always have your heart," sings Usher in this duet with Keys, taking the listener back to that special first love. The chemistry between the longtime friends makes this ode to “My Boo” even more heartfelt, and the love was still palpable even 20 years later when they performed it on the Super Bowl halftime show stage.

Bruno Mars , "Just The Way You Are"

Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, 2011

Dating advice from Bruno Mars: If you think someone is beautiful, you should tell them every day. Whether or not it got Mars a date for Valentine's Day, it did get him a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.

Cee Lo Green & Melanie Fiona , "Fool For You"

Best Traditional R&B Performance, 2012

It's a far cry from his previous GRAMMY-winning song, "F*** You," but "Fool For You" had us yearning for "that deep, that burning/ That amazing unconditional, inseparable love."

Justin Timberlake , "Pusher Love Girl"

Best R&B Song, 2014

Timberlake is so high on the love drug he's "on the ceiling, baby." Timberlake co-wrote the track with James Fauntleroy, Jerome Harmon and Timbaland, and it's featured on his 2013 album The 20/20 Experience , which flew high to No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Beyoncé & Jay-Z , "Drunk In Love"

Best R&B Performance / Best R&B Song, 2015

While "Drunk In Love" wasn't the first love song that won Beyoncé and Jay-Z a GRAMMY — they won two GRAMMYs for "Crazy In Love" in 2004 — it is certainly the sexiest. This quintessential 2010s bop from one of music's most formidable couples captures why their alliance set the world's hearts aflame (and so did their steamy GRAMMYs performance of it).

Ed Sheeran , "Thinking Out Loud"

Song Of The Year / Best Pop Solo Performance, 2016

Along with his abundant talent, Sheeran's boy-next-door charm is what rocketed him to the top of the pop ranks. And with swooning lyrics and a waltzing melody, "Thinking Out Loud" is proof that he's a modern-day monarch of the love song.

Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper , "Shallow"

Best Pop Duo/Group Performance / Best Song Written For Visual Media, 2019

A Star is Born 's cachet has gone up and down with its various remakes, but the 2018 iteration was a smash hit. Not only is that thanks to moving performances from Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, but particularly thanks to their impassioned, belt-along duet "Shallow."

H.E.R. & Daniel Caesar , "Best Part"

Best R&B Performance, 2019

"If life is a movie/ Know you're the best part." Who among us besotted hasn't felt their emotions so widescreen, so thunderous? Clearly, H.E.R. and Daniel Caesar have — and they poured that feeling into the GRAMMY-winning ballad "Best Part."

Kacey Musgraves , "Butterflies"

Best Country Solo Performance, 2019

As Musgraves' Album Of The Year-winning LP Golden Hour shows, the country-pop star can zoom in or out at will, capturing numberless truths about the human experience. With its starry-eyed lyrics and swirling production, "Butterflies" perfectly encapsulates the flutter in your stomach that love can often spark.

Dan + Shay & Justin Bieber , "10,000 Hours"

Best Country Duo/Group Performance, 2021

When country hook-meisters Dan + Shay teamed up with pop phenom Justin Bieber, their love song powers were unstoppable. With more than 1 billion Spotify streams alone, "10,000 Hours" has become far more than an ode to just their respective wives; it's an anthem for any lover.

2023 In Review: 5 Trends That Defined Pop Music

From massive world stages to hilarious TikTok trends, pop music was all about the fun in 2023 — which led to huge hits and pop culture moments alike.

There's arguably only one way to sum up pop music in 2023: it belonged to the women.

Whether SZA or Olivia Rodrigo were revealing the cracks in their relationships through catchy hooks, or Taylor Swift was taking over stadiums around the globe, female artists dominated genre charts and trends. And even a fictional female figure helped spawn some of the year's biggest pop tracks.

It was also a big year for legends and classic hits; pop mainstays showed just why they became superstars in the first place, and TikTok helped resurface some pop songs of old.

Below, take a deeper dive into some of 2023's biggest moments in pop.

Ex-Lovers Were Called Out

Nothing burns more than a woman scorned. This year, pop stars and rising artists were both shameless in calling out their exes for their wrongdoings.

One of the biggest moments came courtesy of SZA. The artist is known for wearing her heart on her sleeve, and SOS album highlight "Kill Bill" was a buffet of toxic "what if" scenarios. The singer let jealousy overcome her emotions as she couldn't stand to see her ex-lover move on: "I might kill my ex, I still love him though/ Rather be in jail than alone." On a similar note, Olivia Rodrigo's "vampire" finds the pop star tapping into a new level of fury. The lead single from her sophomore album, GUTS , "vampire" shoots bloody daggers at a manipulative boyfriend.

But it wasn't all about vengeance. In Miley Cyrus ' case, her best form of revenge came in the form of forgiveness. Her "Flowers" anthem was thought to be inspired by Cyrus' divorce from Liam Hemsworth, but its messaging is relatable to anyone who had to learn how to move on from a broken heart. "I can take myself dancing and I can hold my own hand/ I can love me better than you can," Cyrus assures.

All three singles topped the Billboard Hot 100 this year, marking SZA's first solo No. 1, Cyrus' first in a decade and Rodrigo's first from her new album era. The singles also all earned 2024 GRAMMY nominations for both Song Of The Year (alongside Billie Eilish 's "What Was I Made For?", Dua Lipa 's "Dance the Night", Jon Batiste 's "Butterfly", Lana Del Rey 's "A&W" and Taylor Swift's "Anti-Hero") and Record Of The Year (next to Billie Eilish's What Was I Made For?", Boygenius' "Not Strong Enough", Jon Batiste's "Worship", Taylor Swift's "Anti-Hero" and Victoria Monét' s "On My Mama").

Rising stars also joined in on the fun. After Tate McRae scored her biggest hit to date with the playful “greedy,” she delivered a fiery kiss-off anthem with “exes.” Elsewhere, Benee called her ex a "waste of f—king time" on the rowdy "Green Honda," British singer Mae Stephens contemplated all of her options on "If We Ever Broke Up," RAYE brooded over "dumb decisions" and booze on "Escapism," and Los Angeles alt-pop singer Leah Kate 's jam-packed her debut album Super Over with advice on cutting off toxic relationships .

Classic Songs Made A TikTok Resurgence

TikTok has proved its social media dominance over the past few years. But aside from pop's new generation enjoying viral success, the genre's OGs also found their classic hits reborn.

Colbie Caillat 's "Bubbly" single warmed our hearts when it debuted in 2007, and in true Gen Z fashion, it reemerged thanks to a meme trend. TikTok users placed the song over high-energy performance videos like those of Travis Scott , Justin Bieber and Tyler, The Creator which made for a hilarious juxtaposition. Caillat kept the momentum by making TikTok duets and even sharing an acoustic version of the song on her YouTube page.

Bridgit Mendler's 2013 single "Hurricane" also got a second wind for its 10th anniversary where female users placed it over humorous self-deprecating videos about being delusional over men. Jessie J 's 2011 "Price Tag" hit sparked a dance trend with a sped-up version of the song and Lana Del Rey's "Radio" (a deep cut from 2012's Born To Die debut) inspired users to make videos that showcased how "sweet like cinnamon" their lives are.

Career-Spanning Tours Took Over The World

What better way to celebrate a decorated career than with a massive tour? Pop stars from all corners of the genre commemorated their many years (or in some cases, decades) in the music industry by going down memory lane with their fans worldwide.

The most notable trek was, of course, Taylor Swift's Eras Tour , which kicked off on March 17 and will conclude on Dec. 8, 2024. The pop star — who is arguably bigger than she's ever been, nearly 20 years into her career — used the stadium tour to pay homage to her extensive discography with a nonstop three-hour spectacle. Swift's impact quickly made history: the Eras Tour surpassed $1 billion in revenue in early December, already making it the highest-grossing music tour of all time, according to Guinness World Records. Its accompanying concert film, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour , also became the highest-grossing concert film of all time with $250 million earned globally as of press time.

But Swift wasn't the only star celebrating their music milestones on the road. After a thrilling reunion in 2019, the Jonas Brothers continued to shock fans with what's possibly the most challenging tour of their career. Titled "Five Albums. One Night. The World Tour," the trio featured their entire discography in a set list that included over 60 songs.

Another artist who rode the ambitious train was Madonna . The pop icon's Celebration Tour was, well, a celebration of a genre-defining career spanning over four decades. Kicking off in October in London, the tour features a retrospective setlist that is a treat for diehard fans, featuring singles she hasn't performed live in decades including 1990's "Justify My Love," 1998's "Nothing Really Matters" and 2002's "Die Another Day."

On the pop-rock end, The Maine's "Sweet Sixteen Tour" highlighted the band's growth over the past 16 years through nine albums, while Boys Like Girls ' anchored their comeback after an 11-year hiatus with the North American Speaking Our Language Tour.

Movies Had Major Music Moments

While music has long been a driving force in films, this year saw the pairing excitedly take over pop culture. Greta Gerwig's Barbie movie notably had the world seeing pink, with the iconic doll infiltrating everything from fashion to real estate.

Not surprisingly, the accompanying soundtrack was a pop-filled joyride. Featuring production from pop mastermind Mark Ronson, the 17-song Barbie: The Album featured the likes of Lizzo , Charli XCX , PinkPantheress , Sam Smith , GAYLE and FIFTY FIFTY. But perhaps most notably, the album dominated the Best Song Written For Visual Media category at the 2024 GRAMMYs: Dua Lipa's disco-laced "Dance The Night," Ryan Gosling's TikTok-trending "I'm Just Ken," Ice Spice 's and Nicki Minaj 's sparkly collaboration "Barbie World," and Billie Eilish's gripping ballad "What Was I Made For?" compete with Rihanna 's Black Panther hit "Lift Me Up."

The year also called for reunions and revivals, with the biggest shock arguably belonging to NSYNC . Many fans were impatiently waiting for the boys to make a return, and they did so with "Better Place." The Trolls soundtrack highlight marked the boy band's first song after a two-decade-long music hiatus (which was accompanied by an appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards, where they presented with Best Pop Video). Under the sea, Halle Bailey refreshed a Disney classic with The Little Mermaid live-action reimagining, while the nostalgia train continued with movie musicals Wonka and Mean Girls (out in January).

Pop Titans Were Inescapable

Thanks to social media, it may seem like Gen Z artists have overthrown their elder pop counterparts. But make no mistake, the veterans are showing they aren't so easily shakeable.

This year, many preserved their legacies through various mediums. Taylor Swift wasn't the only superstar proving her staying power on the road (and in stadiums); Beyoncé 's Renaissance World Tour cemented her legendary status as the highest-grossing tour by a Black artist, while Ed Sheeran 's The Mathematics Tour broke attendance records worldwide.

Adele and Usher ruled Sin City with their Las Vegas residencies, with the latter set to perform at the 2024 Super Bowl halftime show. The pop titans even showed their dominance on television, with Kelly Clarkson (who also had a Vegas stint) and Jennifer Hudson gaining a new audience with their respective talk shows.

After a year filled with viral moments and comebacks, we're eager to see how artists will continue to uplift pop music in 2024.

How Skrillex & Fred Again.. Became Dance Music's Favorite Friendship: A Timeline

Before they both play Ill Points in Miami this October, journey back through the highlights of Skrillex and Fred again..'s party-starting bromance.

Few friendships in dance music have burned as brightly as the bromance between Fred Gibson, aka Fred again.. , and Sonny Moore, a.k.a. Skrillex . In a few short years, the English phenom and Los Angeles-born bass don have forged a dynamic bond as DJ partners, co-producers, and mutual muses.

Brought together as fellow Ed Sheeran collaborators, their partnership went legit on "Rumble," an instant wobbly-bass classic featuring grime MC Flowdan, which Fred teased in his star-making 2022 Boiler Room set. Mere months after "Rumble" officially dropped that January, they closed Coachella with a historic set alongside their buddy and studio secret weapon Four Tet.

Alongside all the music and viral moments, the friendship has clearly given Skrillex — a producer always looking for his next musical evolution — a new lease on life.

After a pinch-yourself start to the year that also included a sold-out show with Four Tet at New York’s Madison Square Garden, Skrillex and Fred again.. will meet again this October at Ill Points in Miami. While billed separately, there’s no keeping these two apart. With much more expected from this superstar pairing, we’re taking a look back through their friendship so far.

2019: Before his breakthrough as a solo artist, Fred again.. earned his stripes as a producer for U.K. grime acts like Headie One, Stormzy and AJ Tracey, and pop stadium-filler Ed Sheeran. While hailing from different sides of the Atlantic, he and Skrillex were destined to meet some day.

Returning as a producer on Sheeran’s 2019 album, No.6 Collaborations Project , Fred again.. intersected with Skrillex (and producer/engineer Kenny Beats) on "Take Me Back to London," featuring Stormzy. Fusing pop hooks with grime swagger, the song hinted at the crisp basslines and drums to come from future Skrillex/Fred team-ups.

In this period, Fred played Skrillex an early iteration of "Rumble," which he’d been trading back and forth with Flowdan. "The first time I ever met Sonny, I played him the first version we had," Fred recalled in an interview with BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders.

Skrillex requested the "stems" (the individual isolated parts of a recording) and made a version that he worried missed the mark. "I didn’t like it," he also told Saunders. "I thought I ruined the song." He and Fred tweaked the elements until it  clicked — and their friendship was born.

2021: With COVID-19 keeping artists grounded, Fred again.. released Actual Life (April 14 - December 17 2020) , a collection of achingly personal electronic elegies that cemented his signature sound.

He followed it later that year with Actual Life 2 (February 2 - October 15 2021) , which explored themes of grief and catharsis through a collage of electronic production, samples and audio clips from the producer’s "actual life." Skrillex, meanwhile, kicked off the year by releasing his collaboration with Four Tet and Starrah, "Butterflies," setting the stage for more transatlantic collaborations.

June 2022: To kick off summer, fast friends Skrillex and Fred again.. rented a house in the idyllic English village of Pangbourne to work on new music. As Skrillex recalled on Instagram, he had an album to finish, while Fred again.. was finalising music for his then-imminent Boiler Room debut. Four Tet agreed to come and hang out for a bit, bringing his toothbrush just in case he was compelled to stay. As Skrillex put it on Instagram, "This moment marked the birth of the Pangbourne House Mafia."

July 2022: When Fred again.. rolled up to his Boiler Room debut in London, no one could’ve predicted the energy to come. Surrounded on all sides by sweaty, screaming admirers, the producer blazed through a hybrid DJ-live set that blended house, U.K. garage, grime, drum & bass, and pop.

He also used the set to preview a few of his collaborations with Skrillex, including "Rumble," which sent fans clamouring for clues online. The Boiler Room session blew up on YouTube (where it now has 22 million views), catapulting Fred again.. and his to-be-released collaborations to a whole new level.

October 2022: While promoting his third album, Actual Life 3 (January 1 - September 9 2022) , Fred again.. sat down for an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe at Skrillex’s house in Los Angeles. "We’ve done a home swap at the moment," the producer told Lowe, "so he’s staying at mine in London and I’m at his in L.A." Now, that’s true friendship.

January 2023: After making fans wait, Skrillex and Fred again.. Kicked off the year with a bang and finally released "Rumble" via Skrillex’s OWSLA label. The pair also grabbed Four Tet for a surprise back-to-back-to-back DJ set at London’s Electric Ballroom, which featured a whirlwind of new and unreleased music. What started as a one-off show rolled into three extremely sold-out nights at different venues, with the trio of DJs clearly having the time of their lives.

February 2023: In a career-defining month, Skrillex released his much-anticipated album Quest for Fire , which featured collaborators like Porter Robinson, Missy Elliot , Mr Oizo, Bobby Raps, and — of course — Fred again.. and Four Tet. To celebrate the release, the "Pangbourne House Mafia" casually announced a show at New York’s iconic Madison Square Garden, which sold out within three minutes. To warm up, the trio created pandemonium with an impromptu DJ set in Times Square, where they trialled some new edits ahead of the big show.

April 2023: After selling out Madison Square Garden without breaking a sweat, and releasing team-up track, "Baby again.." in March, the unlikely supergroup of Fred, Skrillex and Four Tet went looking for the next high.

As it happened, that opportunity came on the second weekend of Coachella. With Frank Ocean relinquishing his Sunday headlining spot after a divisive weekend performance, the festival left a tantalizing TBA in the final slot. Before long, the cat was out of the bag, and dance music’s new favorite trio were headed to the desert with memeable merch bearing the slogan, OMG TBA.

"I didn’t think I was gonna be back with my brothers like this for a longgggg time," Fred again.. wrote on Instagram . "Until last night. And here we are."

Appearing on a circular stage deep in the crowd, the DJs closed down Coachella with the excitement of three friends who couldn’t quite believe their luck.

June 2023: With the members of the "Pangbourne House Mafia" returning to life as solo artists after Coachella, Fred again.. announced a three-night run at New York’s Forest Hills Stadium in October, followed by Ill Points in Miami, and then eight shows at Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles. With LA being Skrillex’s hometown, the two producers are sure to cook up something new - after, this is one friendship with a lot more to give.

New Music Friday: Listen To New Music From Jungkook & Jack Harlow, PinkPantheress, *NSYNC And More

As September comes to a close, listen to these new songs, albums and collaborations from Ed Sheeran, Lil Wayne and more.

As we close out the month, this New Music Friday has loads of fresh beginnings and highly anticipated reunions.

Several big-name collaborations dropped on Sept. 29, from an electric team-up of the Rolling Stones and Lady Gaga to an R&B and rap fusion from Jungkook and Jack Harlow .

Two nostalgic releases arrived as well, with Lil Wayne 's new album Tha Fix Before Tha Vi continuing his "Tha Carter" series, while *NSYNC fans were treated to the boy band's first new song in 20 years with "Better Place."

Dive into these seven new releases that blend the old generation with the new.

Jungkook ft. Jack Harlow — "3D"

BTS singer Jungkook takes us through a nostalgic journey with "3D," a song reminiscent of an early 2000s boy band hit. The hypnotizing lyrics illustrate his close connection to someone he can't reach, so he'll watch them in 3D.

"So if you're ready (So if you're ready)/ And if you'll let me (And if you'll let me)/ I wanna see it in motion/ In 3D (Uh-uh)," he sings in the chorus.

Jack Harlow pops in, dropping a few verses boasting about his global attraction with women. "Mr. First Class" claims he can "fly you from Korea to Kentucky," as he closes out the song.

With an addictive chorus and groovy baseline, this track has a different vibe from his "Seven" collaboration with Latto . The song marks Jungkook's seventh solo single and second of 2023.

Rolling Stones & Lady Gaga ft. Stevie Wonder — "Sweet Sounds of Heaven"

The Rolling Stones , Lady Gaga and Stevie Wonder blended their talents, to create a harmonic symphony of a song that lives up to its heavenly title. Seven minutes of gospel- and blues-inspired rhythms, enriched by Gaga and Mick Jagger 's distinct riffs, make this collaboration an immersive experience. Stevie Wonder grounds the track with his command of piano and melodic tempo.

The track is the second peek of the Rolling Stones' upcoming album, Hackney Diamonds , their first LP release in 18 years; their first release, "Angry," arrived Sept. 6. With production from GRAMMY-winning Andrew Watt , the soulful essence makes "Sweet Sounds of Heaven" an exciting taste of the long-overdue album.

*NSYNC — "Better Place"

Yes, you read correctly. After two decades and a recent reunion at the 2023 MTV Video Music awards, *NSYNC is back with a new single, "Better Place," appearing in the new animated Trolls movie (due Nov. 17). With a nostalgic dance-pop beat, familiar production and breezy lyrics, this single is a remarkable comeback.

"Just let me take you to a better place/ I'm gonna make you kiss the sky tonight," they sing in the chorus.

The reunion was first teased Sept. 14, through a video of the group's emotional studio session, as Justin Timberlake shared on Instagram . "When the stars align… got my brothers back together in the studio to work on something fun and the energy was special," he wrote in the post.

PinkPantheress — "Mosquito"

Dive into this musical daydream as PinkPantheress serenades us on her new single, "Mosquito," a dreamy, lucid song reminiscent of old-school R&B. After recently hopping on the energetic remix of Troye Sivan's "Rush" and teaming up with Destroy Lonely on "Turn Your Phone Off," PinkPantheress is transporting us through a new era, full of charm and surprises.

"Cause I just had a dream I was dead/ And I only cared 'cause I was taken from you/ You're the only thing that I own/ I hear my bell ring, I'd only answer for you," she sings in the chorus.

Co-crafted by GRAMMY-winning producer Greg Kurstin , this song is a transcending, surreal experience. This single isn't about romance, instead she takes us through her entanglements with treasures and money. That's further portrayed in the lavish video, which features a European shopping spree starring "Bridgerton" stars Charithra Chandran, India Amarteifio and "Grown-ish" star Yara Shahidi.

Ed Sheeran — Autumn Variations

The era of mathematical-themed albums seems to be over, as Ed Sheeran has entered a new chapter with Autumn Variations, his second project this year. Sheeran is singing from his heart, sharing soulful tales from emotional events in his life including the death of his dearest friend Jamal Edwards and his wife's health challenges during pregnancy — an extension of the stories he told with May's Subtract .

Autumn Variations is very raw, stripped down and authentic as he takes us through his personal journey. Amidst this, Sheeran still brings in some buzzing tracks including catchy songs like "American Town," "Paper Bag" and "Amazing."

Lil Wayne — Tha Fix Before Tha Vi

Lil Wayne celebrated his 41st birthday with a special present to his fans: the release of a new album two days later. The alluring 10-track project,"Tha Fix Before Tha Vi" dives into past vibes with songs like "Tity Boi," a reference to 2 Chainz's initial stage name, which may be a reference to the upcoming joint album between the two. Each song has a different feel including "Tuxedo," which features a more punk-rock melody and "Chanel No.5 ft. Foushee," which features a sensational beat.

His first album since 2020, Tha Fix Before Tha Vi features rather unexpected collaborators, including Jon Batiste, Fousheé and euro. With different sounds and features than past projects, we could possibly be entering a new Weezy era.

Thomas Rhett & Morgan Wallen — "Mamaw's House"

Country superstars Morgan Wallen and Thomas Rhett unite for "Mamaw's House," a country-folk track relishing the memories of their grandparents' home and cozy fireplace tales.

" It's where I spent my summers and she put me to work/ Shellin' peas and shuckin' corn until my fingers hurt/ No tellin' who I'da been without Mamaw's house," Rhett sings in the second verse.

Rhett said the duo decided to write about their small-town culture — Rhett is from Valdosta, Georgia, while Wallen hails from Sneedville, Tennessee — and the significant presence of grandparents brought to their upbringings.

"This song just kind of brings up how our mamaws used to act when we were little kids," Rhett told Audacy. . "It's an ode to all the grandmas out there."

Czechia Sets New National Attendance Record At Euro Hockey Tour

I t continues to happen. Whether it's in the PWHL or international stage, attendance records for women's hockey are falling across the globe.

In the PWHL, the league is averaging 4,856 with Ottawa setting a new professional women's hockey record of 8,318, which was broken days later by Minnesota bringing in 13,316 fans . Next it was PWHL Montreal who welcomed 8,646 fans breaking Ottawa's Canadian record. All of those records will be crushed February 16 at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto for a sold out game at the 18,800 seat facility .

The trend continued this week across the Atlantic as Czechia set a record of their own in Liberec at the Euro Hockey Tour. 3,313 fans showed up to watch Czechia face Finland setting a new record for the nation.

"The atmosphere was amazing," said Czechia head coach Carla MacLeod . "I even had to take pictures of the fans to send to my friends in Canada. There was a lot of support from the audience."

"I am very happy that we managed to break the audience record," added Czechia's general manager Tereza Sadilová. "In recent years, women's hockey in the Czech Republic has enjoyed greater awareness and attention, which the players more than deserve."

Czechia however, fell 6-1 to Finland, a surprise result for many given recent international results. Czechia also suffered the loss of netminder Klára Peslarová who went down with an injury. Peslarová missed all of last season with a knee injury.

Finland got goals from six different scorers including Petra Nieminen, Viivi Vainikka, Noora Tulus, Emilia Vesa, Sanni Vanhanen, and Michelle Karvinen. Tereza Vanisova had Czechia's lone goal.

How Taylor Swift gave Singapore’s economy a massive boost

tour attendance record

SINGAPORE — Singapore is set to earn big money and a big reputation from hosting global pop sensation Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, analysts are calculating.

Swift’s six sold-out concerts, which run from March 2 to 9, are expected to bring in an estimated $260 million to $375 million in tourism receipts, Erica Tay, Maybank director of macro research, told The Washington Post.

The city-state is the latest beneficiary of “ Swiftonomics ,” the phenomenon named for the economic boost experienced by destinations of the record-breaking tour, which has surpassed $1 billion in global sales. Singapore’s GDP is likely to expand by 2.9 percent in the first quarter of the year — its highest in six quarters — Bloomberg News reported Friday , with economists raising predictions for annual growth from 2.3 percent to 2.5 percent.

With Singapore the only Southeast Asian stop on the tour — something that caused no end of grumbling from its neighbors — fans from China to Malaysia have flocked to the city-state. Japan is the only other East Asian destination. Arrival passenger traffic between March 1 and 7 alone increased by more than 20 percent compared to the same period last year, Changi Airport told The Post .

Businesses of all sizes have caught the cruel summer fever, with enterprises ranging from big brands to small bead shops and photo studios cashing in on the pop star’s visit.

Marina Bay Sands, a luxury destination and a tour sponsor, set up a Swift-focused light show and mall trail with installations themed for each of the artist’s albums. Packages ranging from $7,500 to $35,000 were sold out, with 90 percent of the guests coming from overseas, “an indication of the strong tourism appeal of the Eras Tour,” said Chief Marketing Officer Irene Lin.

Travel company Klook tracked a 50 percent increase in bookings for its Singapore Pass, which offers access to the city’s most famous attractions. “Based on our data … a tourist attending a concert or event can hit an incremental spending of five times the face ticket value,” said Sarah Wan, Klook general manager for Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. A traveler can spend an additional $800 on local experiences, she added.

However, Singapore’s success may have stirred some bad blood among neighbors who wanted their own taste of Swiftonomics. Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin claimed Singapore paid up to $3 million per show to make it the only stop in Southeast Asia, prompting leaders in Indonesia and the Philippines to also raise complaints.

Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong defended the deal this week, saying that he does not see the arrangement as “being unfriendly” to its neighbors. Singapore has kept mum on what the government paid to bring Swift to the city-state, but news outlet CNA estimates that it is likely to have cost between $2 and $3 million for all six shows.

Can Seng Ooi, a professor at the University of Tasmania who has studied Singapore’s tourism agenda, said the Eras Tour bid is “part of a grand plan” to fashion the city-state as a regional arts and culture destination that dates to 1989 — a year of no small significance for Swifties, as it’s the singer’s birth year and the title of her fifth studio album. That year, its arts council released a report outlining strategies for the city’s cultural thrust — a long view that has paid off decades later.

Analysts say Singapore’s comparative advantage over its neighbors include its infrastructure, connectivity and continuity for the arts agenda due to political stability. “That did not happen overnight,” said Ooi, who added that the Eras Tour was the latest of mega-event bids that included a Coldplay tour and Formula One races.

One very satisfied Swiftie is Sofia Tolentino, 22, a Filipino student pilot who estimates she is spending up to $4,000 — including airfare, accommodations, her concert ticket, tour packages and outfit, among other expenses. Her parents helped her pay for the trip as a gift because she missed Swift’s previous concerts in Manila when she was younger.

With demand for Swift events rising, she saw the concert as a once-in-a-lifetime experience and even sold her spare ticket to a cancer patient. Decked in a bright-pink sequined leotard and knee-high boots ahead of the penultimate concert on Friday, Tolentino said she resolved not to overthink the math for now and just enjoy the show.

“If you compute it, it’s too much,” she said. “But nothing’s too much for Taylor.”

Shane Lowry shows good form is more valuable than a bad track record at Arnold Palmer Invitational

Daily Wrap Up

Change Text Size

ORLANDO, Fla. — Shane Lowry knew he was playing good golf because he gave himself a chance to win last week. He also knew his record at Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Club & Lodge was as bad as any course he had played.

Good form won out Thursday in the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard. Lowry made three birdie putts from outside 20 feet, chipped in for eagle and avoided most of the trouble for a 6-under 66, giving him a one-shot lead after the opening round.

How bad is Lowry around this track?

“Horrific,” the Irishman said with a laugh, and the numbers bear that out.

In his sixth time playing this tournament, this was the first time Lowry broke 70. Last year was the first time he made the cut, and he might have fared better than his tie for 67th if not for an 80 in the third round.

Lowry had a share of the 54-hole lead last week at the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches until posting a 71 over two days in the rain-delayed tournament to finish four back.

He needed a sponsor exemption to get in to this Signature Event with a 69-player field. As a winner of The Open Championship, all-around good bloke and ambassador for Mastercard (the presenting sponsor), that was the easy part.

Bay Hill was always the hard part. He just made it look easy for once.

“It’s one of these places where some people love it. I’ve struggled with it over the years,” he said. “It’s a nice place to come, it’s obviously a great tournament, a huge tournament, and I’m very happy with that today. Maybe that’s the kind of score I need to shoot around here to just give myself the confidence to go out and play my game around here.”

Shane Lowry's Round 1 highlights from Arnold Palmer

Lowry wasn’t the only player with low expectations. Hideki Matsuyama, who shot 62 in the final round to win at The Genesis Invitational three weeks ago, suddenly felt some back pain that caused him to pull out of the pro-am. He wasn’t sure how it would go in the opening round.

The Japanese star wasn’t expecting a double-hit with a chip shot on the 15th hole that led to bogey, but he atoned for that by chipping in for eagle on his way to a 67.

Hideki Matsuyama's Round 1 highlights from Arnold Palmer

Justin Lower also had a 67 on a day of reasonable scoring, at least by Bay Hill standards. With greens that get firmer as the week goes on and thick rough, this is one of the tougher courses leading up to the Masters. There also has been enough rain to slightly soften greens, and no wind, unusual for Florida in March.

Russell Henley and Sam Burns were in the group at 68, while Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas and The Open champion Brian Harman were among those at 69.

Nineteen players broke 70, and the average score was 71.5. Scottie Scheffler, the world’s No. 1 player, had a 70 while missing only three greens.

Spieth, as usual, didn’t deliver a stock version of 69. There were those three straight bogeys to close out the front nine, two of them on three-putts. He was headed for four in a row until a nifty pitch over the edge of a bunker on the 10th to save par, followed by three birdies over his next four holes to get back in the mix.

“I think it was more solid than maybe the scorecard indicates,” Spieth said. “The mistakes that I made, I feel like I can clean up. And there weren’t a whole lot of ‘em.”

Defending champion Kurt Kitayama had to rally for a 78. Patrick Cantlay missed too many opportunities to overcome his mistakes in a round of 74, while Rory McIlroy had a 73 and then spent the twilight hours on the putting green with Brad Faxon.

As a player-hosted Signature Event, Bay Hill will have a 36-hole cut on Friday to the low 50 and ties and anyone within 10 shots of the lead. How Lowry fares will have a bearing on that.

Lowry has too much history here — the wrong kind — to think too far ahead.

“This is the type of place where you get on a run and it feels easy, but then you get on a run the other way and start making bogeys, it feels like you’re never going to make a par out here again,” he said. “It’s normally one of the firmest golf courses we play, and I’m sure over the weekend it’s going to firm up and become really difficult.

“But 66 is a really good start.”

Taylor swift's surprise songs from night 5 of her singapore eras tour with travis kelce in attendance, share this article.

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour continued it’s international journey on Friday night in Singapore (morning in the United States). The now 14-time Grammy winner will be touring almost non-stop for the entire year, and at each show she adds two “surprise songs” to her 44-song, three hour plus set list.

For the fifth of six nights in Singapore, Swift once again went with the mashups that she’s been so fond of in 2024. On the guitar, she played a combination of “Sparks Fly” from Speak Now and “Gold Rush” from Evermore. On piano, Swift went with a mashup of “False God” from Lover mixed with “Slut!” from 1989 (Taylor’s Version) .

Caitlin Clark broke attendance records in all but two of her games this season. See where

tour attendance record

If Caitlin Clark is playing, the fans will come. In record numbers.

Watching the University of Iowa basketball superstar live has become one of the hottest tickets in the entire sporting world. That will certainly be the case Sunday when Clark and the Hawkeyes host No. 3 Ohio State at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Already the top scorer in major women's college basketball history, Clark is just 18 points shy of passing Pete Maravich's NCAA Division I scoring record (3,617). Tickets for the soldout game are reportedly going for upwards of $500 each on the secondary market.

According to the NCAA, Clark and the Hawkeyes helped set or break attendance records in all but two of their games this season . And those two games both took place in Southwest Florida.

Iowa swept all three of its games at the Gulf Coast Showcase at Hertz Arena over Thanksgiving weekend in November to win the tournament championship. While the Hawkeyes' semifinal game with nearby FGCU drew a Showcase record crowd of 4,257 fans , their other two meetings with Purdue Fort-Wayne and Kansas State averaged 3,160 in an arena that can seat a little more than 7,000. Those are still healthy numbers, especially for a busy holiday weekend, but they did not surpass the tournament's previous mark.

As Indianapolis Star columnist Gregg Doyel wrote, the only thing Caitlin Clark isn't bigger than is Thanksgiving .

Here is a look at how Iowa and Clark performed in Southwest Florida during the Gulf Coast Showcase:

Iowa 77, Kansas State 70

Date: Nov. 26, 2023

Recap: The senior guard poured in a game-high 32 points as the Hawkeyes held off a late charge by the Wildcats and claimed the Gulf Coast Showcase championship. The Wildcats ran off 11 consecutive points, taking a 68-67 lead on a three-point play with 2:44 remaining, but Clark then took over, sinking a pair of 3-pointers in two minutes to put the Hawkeyes back in front to stay.

Iowa 100, FGCU 62

Date: Nov. 25, 2023

Recap: The Hawkeyes closed out the first quarter on a 17-3 run and didn't need Clark to do much. Clark, who entered the game as the nation’s leading scorer at 30.7 points per game, finished with 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists in 26 minutes.
