Hosted and curated as always by the Blues Rock Titan himself Joe Bonamassa, Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea X will present five days and five nights of onboard performances and unforgettable collaborations by such blues and blues-rock superstars as Bonamassa (performing two unique shows), Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Larkin Poe, Christone âKingfishâ Ingram, Samantha Fish, Eric Gales, Joanne Shaw Taylor, Jimmy Vivino, Eddie 9V, Thunderstorm Artis, Taj Farrant, and many more to be announced. In addition, the cruise will feature an array of inimitable activities, including intimate acoustic morning sets, once-in-a-lifetime collaborations, live podcasts, autograph sessions, guest jams, guitar clinics, tastings, M&Gâs and much more.
Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea X is dedicated to championing incredible, emerging live talent, a commitment reflected in this year’s lineup, where the current lineup artists collectively have received ten Grammy nominations, three of them from the 2024 award season alone. This recognition, highlighted by Sunday night’s Grammy Awards where Larkin Poe won Best Contemporary Blues Album, underscores the caliber of artists we feature. KTBAâs focus on up-and-coming talent not only enriches the onboard experience for guests to have an unmatched musical journey at sea but also aligns with its mission to support growing artists and provide them with a platform and an audience.
The Norwegian Gem will provide everything needed to make Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea X the most luxurious cruise vacation ever, with fully stocked bars at (virtually) every corner, tasty dining options, the Pool Deck (with multiple hot tubs), the Gem Club Casino, Mandara Spa, Body Waves Fitness Center, Sports Court, and much more.

Please note: Shore excursions will not be available until four to six weeks prior to sailing. Cruisers will be able to book an excursion upon receipt of their official booking number.
The announcement of Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea X comes on the heels of the 2024 Blues Music Award nominations, where Bonamassa earned nods for both Blues Rock Artist and Blues Rock Album. These nominations cement the triumph of his latest studio album, Blues Deluxe Vol. 2 , which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Blues Chart. Recently, Bonamassa shared his journey in the documentary Guitar Man , now available for a limited time to watch on his store for free. Bonamassa continues to captivate audiences worldwide with his relentless touring and musical innovations. Fans can look forward to more electrifying performances as tickets for his 2024 tour, covering major cities in the U.S. and Europe, including a return to the iconic Royal Albert Hall, are now available.
Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea X will once again benefit the Keeping the Blues Alive Foundation (KTBA), dedicated to providing students and teachers and musicians the resources and tools needed to further music education. Founded by Bonamassa in 2011, KTBA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to fuel the passion for music by funding programs and scholarships for students and teachers who possess the desire, but lack the resources or access to achieve their potential within music education. The Fueling Musicians Program is now a permanent part of the organization, providing financial assistance for essential living expenses to help struggling musicians on their feet and on the road.

Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea: Mediterranean (Part One) – Joe Bonamassaâs Blues Cruise Included Visit to Nerdville
The second sailing of Joe Bonamassaâs Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea: Mediterranean sailed out of Athens, Greece on August 23, 2022, and before the Norwegian Cruise Line ship Jade returned to the Greek capital five days later cruisers had a chance to see two full shows from Bonamassa as well as multiple performances from other stars like Kebâ Moâ, Walter Trout, Tommy Emmanuel, Samantha Fish, Marc Broussard and Ana PopoviÄ. The Jade called at Mykonos, Greece and KuĆadası, Turkey along the way and also made a âstopâ at Nerdville.
Some 25 acts entertained fans throughout the cruise, with early morning acoustic shows, full concerts throughout the day and late night jam sessions. And while fans raved about shows from former Van Morrison side man James Hunter and the reggae-fied blues rock of Jackie Venson, there was never any doubt as to who fans adored the most. And there were plenty of chances to enjoy the work of Joe Bonamassa during the cruise, beginning with an evening concert on the Jade âs pool deck on sail away day.
Bonamassa began his set with âDust Bowl,â a cut with eerie overtones, before moving into âEvil Mama,â a â70s-inspired blues rocker with a funky beat. The song also featured the first of many guitar solos from Joe â a jaw-dropping display that Bonamassa made seem effortless. âI Didnât Think She Would Do It,â âNotches,â âJust âCos You Can Donât Mean You Should,â âCurtain Call,â and âThe Heart That Never Waitsâ filled out the middle of the show as did a haunting cover of Gary Mooreâs âMidnight Blues;â Bonamassa has acknowledged the late Irish firebrand as an influence on his style. As he often does, Bonamassa wrapped up his set with âThe Ballad of John Henry.â
Joeâs two concerts during the cruise were only part of how fans could immerse themselves in all-things Bonamassa, who appeared as a guest player at many of the other shows, including sitting in for a song with Jade MacRae, a longtime vocalist in his band. The shipâs television system featured a Joe Bonamassa channel that aired mostly live material 24/7 (another channel featured all the other acts) and for those who wanted Joe to, uh, keep them warm at night, blankets featuring Joeâs likeness could be purchased in the merch area. Perhaps the most unique available experience was the chance for fans to witness a taping of Joeâs podcast Live from Nerdville .
For the episode of Live from Nerdville that was taped in the Jade âs Stardust Theater, Joe interviewed Tommy Emmanuel, Marc Broussard and Terry Reid. All three conversations began with a recounting of how the two first met. Marveling at how joyous Emmanuel seems to always be on stage, Joe asked Tommy about his passion and Emmanuel responded that meeting people, hearing other people play and jamming was a big part of it; Bonamassa noted for example a 2 Âœ hour impromptu off-stage jam between Emmanuel and Kebâ Moâ that he had witnessed the day before the taping. When Bonamassa commented that the Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea cruises are one of the only places where artists can enjoy that kind of musical camaraderie, Emmanuel jokingly asked âAre you trying to get me to sign up for next year?â
When Broussard came on, Bonamassa posed the question to the Louisiana-born artist, âWhat is it about the south that creates a sound that no other region in the US or anywhere in the world creates?â Before Marc could answer Joe poked a little fun at his own homeland saying, âThereâs no one walking around going, âMan, I just canât get enough of that Upstate New York soul.ââ The question is almost impossible to answer and Broussard responded with humor, âI really donât know. It probably has to do with slight in-breeding and a heavy dose of spice.â
Terry Reid was by far the most-animated of the âLive from Nerdvilleâ guests and he reveled in telling stories. Reid goes back a long way and he had Bonamassa and the audience in stitches as he related a tour where he was the opening act for the Rolling Stones in the 1960s. The Stones were experiencing Beatlemania-like pandemonium at the time and it extended to the opening act, with Reid noting that the crowdâs screaming was so intense that it drowned out the music. No music was played during the taping but it will be edited in for the podcastâs airing, scheduled for later this year.
The next sailing of the Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea Mediterranean will be August 17-22, 2023 and once again sail from Athens with calls at Santorini, Greece and Dubrovnik, Croatia. Blackberry Smoke, Christone âKingfishâ Ingram, Jimmy Vivino and Kirk Fletcher will be among those joining Bonamassa.

BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION , the supergroup featuring legendary vocalist/bassist Glenn Hughes ( DEEP PURPLE , BLACK SABBATH ),guitarist Joe Bonamassa , drummer Jason Bonham ( LED ZEPPELIN ) and keyboardist Derek Sherinian ( DREAM THEATER , ALICE COOPER , BILLY IDOL ),played its second concert in six years on Monday (March 18) on the pool deck stage of the Keeping The Blues Alive At Sea cruise, sailing from Miami to Cozumel, Mexico from March 18-22. Fan-filmed video of the show can be seen below.
BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION 's first gig since 2018 took place on Sunday, March 17 at Culture Room in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This rare appearance was the first live performance in America from the band in over 11 years. Presented by Bonamassa 's Keeping The Blues Alive Foundation , all profits from the concert were donated to support music education and musicians in need.
Prior to the Fort Lauderdale gig, BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION 's most recent performance took place in February 2018 at the fourth edition of the Keeping The Blues Alive At Sea .
According to Setlist.fm , the setlist for the March 18 concert was as follows:
01. Sway 02. One Last Soul 03. Wanderlust 04. The Outsider 05. Cold 06. Enlighten 07. Crossfire 08. The Crow 09. Stay Free 10. Black Country 11. Mistreated (DEEP PURPLE cover)
BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION will release its highly anticipated fifth studio album, "V" , on June 14. The LP's first single, "Stay Free" , was made available earlier in the month.
Produced by longtime collaborator Kevin Shirley , "V" marks a monumental chapter in the band's storied career, embodying a renewed spirit and an evolution of their unmistakable sound. Shirley captures the essence of the band's journey, stating: "For a band that started out as a collection of the best practitioners of their instruments, they very quickly found a unique sound. This time around, it has more purpose, the riffs are tougher, and there are hooks! Yes, hooks! It's the most cohesive record, full of soul and grit, and I think this is the one that's going to be the benchmark for BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION ." Glenn agrees: "In my opinion, we had the best time recording this record at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, tons of fun and a magical recording. Meet you inside the music.â
"Stay Free" , the lead single, is a powerhouse track that blends hard rock's raw energy with a heavy dose of blues, channeling the spirit of legends like AC/DC and LED ZEPPELIN . It sets the tone for what fans can expect from "V" â a testament to the band's dynamic synergy and creative evolution.
Since their debut in 2010, BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION has delivered a series of critically acclaimed albums, each showcasing the group's ability to fuse British blues-rock with American soul in a way that captivates audiences worldwide. Their return with "V" and the single "Stay Free" reaffirms their status as rock royalty and showcases their growth as musicians and storytellers.
Shirley 's insight into the recording process highlights the unique chemistry and camaraderie within the band. "When we convened in 2023 to start recording the album 'V' , it really was like picking up the day after the most recent gig," Shirley reflects. "The camaraderie is immediately evident. Once they start playing, everyone is deadly serious, and the music sounds like this band, and nothing else sounds like it."
"V" is a milestone that celebrates the journey, talent, and vision of BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION . As the band embarks on this new chapter, they invite fans old and new to join them in experiencing the depth and power of "V" and the electrifying energy of "Stay Free" .
"V" track Listing:
01. Enlighten 02. Stay Free 03. Red Sun 04. Restless 05. Letting Go 06. Skyway 07. You're Not Alone 08. Love And Faith 09. Too Far Gone 10. The Open Road
During an appearance on an August 2023 episode of SiriusXM 's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" , Hughes stated about the musical direction of the new BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION material: "It sounds like BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION . There's not too many left turns, there's nothing happening that's weirdly different. We followed a vibe of the first four albums, so it it's an extension, but it's really a progression, if you can call it a progression. Everybody's playing out of their skin. The vibe in the camp has never been so friendly and fun. It's a really, really great vibe in the band. And we had a great time at Sunset Sound [studios] in Hollywood. And I can't wait for you to hear it."
As for BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION 's touring plans, Glenn said: "If you go back 10 years when I wanted to⊠well, we all wanted to play more shows. And Joe has been very busy from the get-go of his career. What I want you to know, and I want everybody to know, that, of course, we want to play with BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNITY , but Joe 's schedule is crazy busy, and we all get it. Unfortunately, that's the way it is. So my priority is playing my own music with my own band and doing what I need to do to have fun on my own."
He continued: "Would I like to play some shows with Joe , Derek and Jason ? Of course I would. I think everybody would like that. But what I can't do is say we're gonna do this, this, and that⊠I've done it before and it didn't happen, so I won't⊠I'm glad Joe has [said in a recent interview] he wants to do something like that, because I think we all wanna set some time out to do that, and we're hoping that we can play in North America [in 2024]."
Earlier that same month, Bonamassa told "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" about the new BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION album: "The thing about BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION , whether you like the way we sound or not, when we all get together, it has a very specific thing that it does. Everybody brings a very specific thing to the table, and it's a special band."
According to Joe , he brought the BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION members back together to make the follow-up to "BCCIV" , which was released in September 2017 and marked BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION 's first studio effort since 2013's "Afterglow" . "I was the one that kind of initiated the text, be, like, 'Hey, is there anybody interested in doing a fifth one?'" he said. "And Derek got back to me. Jason got back to me pretty quickly. And Glenn called me and said, 'I can't do anything until this DEAD DAISIES situation goes one way or the next.' And I said, 'Fair enough.' So when Glenn left THE DEAD DAISIES [in 2022], that was kind of the green light for us to get back together."
Regarding the songwriting process for BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION 's fifth album and how it compared to that on the band's previous efforts, Joe said: "This was the same. I went over to Glenn 's house about six times and we hashed out some ideas â pretty rough, loose ideas. Nothing in stone. And so I had a playlist on my phone, voice memos, BCC 1 through 10. And that was it. So, so day one, we just [said], 'Okay, let's start with BCC 1.' And we sat in the courtyard at Sunset Sound â they have this really nice courtyard with a bunch of chairs â and we sat out there with an acoustic guitar and a couple of things and we just bashed out the arrangement. We were, like, 'Okay, that's cool.' We went in, played it three or four times and that was it. Nobody charted anything; we just kind of memorized it and did it. And we would go into the control room, listen a little bit, maybe tweak something, but once it fired up and after the second day, we really hit our stride, going, 'Okay, the band's back.' 'Cause we hadn't played together in six years."
As for the recording process for the new BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION disc, Joe said: "There's not a lot of overdubs. I rarely double the guitars, 'cause Glenn 's bass sound is so big and distorted, you know what I mean? It's, like, why do I need to double the guitar? Same thing with Derek . It's almost like playing in the band FREE . All of the sound comes from the four of us. And Jason takes up a huge amount of bandwidth; he's such a big drummer."
Bonamassa went on to say that he is looking forward to performing with BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION again. "I'd like to do some live shows with 'em [in 2024]," he said. "I think it would be really fun⊠Scheduling is the hardest thing, because of what everybody's got [coming up]⊠[My solo band is] booked almost two years out. But next year, I really wanna at least set aside a week, maybe two weeks, where we can go out and do selected shows, do a couple here in the U.S., go to Europe, do a couple there. 'Cause it is fun."
In a September 2022 interview with Andy Hall of the Des Moines, Iowa radio station Lazer 103.3 , Bonamassa stated about what it is about a "band situation" that appeals to him, considering he has spent most of his career as a solo artist: "I like nothing more than to be a member of a band and playing guitar. I don't have to front it; I don't have to sing all the time. And it's a lot less pressure than being the front person. Being the person in front is a special skillset. You have to be an entertainer. You can't just sit up there and stare at your guitar and go, 'Wow. Look, I can play guitar pretty good.' That's not gonna fill the theater. You have to put on a show. And to put on a show requires being an entertainer. So being in a band, the sum of the parts is greater than the single entity. So this thing where Glenn co-fronts BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION , I can just sit back and play rhythm guitar and watch him do his thing. He's a legend. And then conversely, Glenn doesn't have to sing all night; I'll sing three or four [songs]. So we kind of spread out the whole workload a little bit."
BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION 's inception took place when Hughes and Bonamassa fused their styles on stage in Los Angeles for an explosive performance at Guitar Center 's King Of The Blues event. With the help and guidance of Shirley , they further added to their rock lineage by recruiting Bonham and Sherinian .
In a 2017 interview, Hughes talked about the chemistry between the BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION members, especially since all the musicians have had successful careers prior to launching the group.
"This band was meant to be," Glenn said. "It was formed out of a friendship with Joe and I. We got the [other] guys to come in, and it's always been a strong brotherhood. And we're just very lucky and fortunate to have met. I've known Jason since he was [a kid]. I just think that these four guys in this band are the right guys to play in the band."

For the first time Rosatom Fuel Division supplied fresh nuclear fuel to the worldâs only floating nuclear cogeneration plant in the Arctic
The fuel was supplied to the northernmost town of Russia along the Northern Sea Route.
The first in the history of the power plant refueling, that is, the replacement of spent nuclear fuel with fresh one, is planned to begin before 2024. The manufacturer of nuclear fuel for all Russian nuclear icebreakers, as well as the Akademik Lomonosov FNPP, is Machinery Manufacturing Plant, Joint-Stock Company (MSZ JSC), a company of Rosatom Fuel Company TVEL that is based in Elektrostal, Moscow Region.
The FNPP includes two KLT-40S reactors of the icebreaking type. Unlike convenient ground-based large reactors (that require partial replacement of fuel rods once every 12-18 months), in the case of these reactors, the refueling takes place once every few years and includes unloading of the entire reactor core and loading of fresh fuel into the reactor.
The cores of KLT-40 reactors of the Akademik Lomonosov floating power unit have a number of advantages compared to the reference ones: a cassette core was used for the first time in the history of the unit, which made it possible to increase the fuel energy resource to 3-3.5 years between refuelings, and also reduce the fuel component of the electricity cost by one and a half times. The FNPP operating experience formed the basis for the designs of reactors for nuclear icebreakers of the newest series 22220. Three such icebreakers have been launched by now.
For the first time the power units of the Akademik Lomonosov floating nuclear power plant were connected to the grid in December 2019, and put into commercial operation in May 2020. The supply of nuclear fuel from Elektrostal to Pevek and its loading into the second reactor is planned for 2024. The total power of the Akademik Lomonosov FNPP, supplied to the coastal grid of Pevek without thermal energy consumption on shore, is about 76 MW, being about 44 MW in the maximum thermal power supply mode. The FNPP generated 194 million kWh according to the results of 2023. The population of Pevek is just a little more than 4 thousand, while the FNPP has a potential for supplying electricity to a city with a population of up to 100 thousand people. After the FNPP commissioning two goals were achieved. These include first of all the replacement of the retiring capacities of the Bilibino NPP, which has been operating since 1974, as well as the Chaunskaya TPP, which has already been operating for more than 70 years. Secondly, energy is supplied to the main mining companies in western Chukotka in the Chaun-Bilibino energy hub a large ore and metal cluster, including gold mining companies and projects related to the development of the Baimsk ore zone. In September 2023, a 110 kilovolt power transmission line with a length of 490 kilometers was put into operation, connecting the towns of Pevek and Bilibino. The line increased the reliability of energy supply from the FNPP to both Bilibino consumers and mining companies, the largest of which is the Baimsky GOK. The comprehensive development of the Russian Arctic is a national strategic priority. To increase the NSR traffic is of paramount importance for accomplishment of the tasks set in the field of cargo shipping. This logistics corridor is being developed due regular freight voyages, construction of new nuclear-powered icebreakers and modernization of the relevant infrastructure. Rosatom companies are actively involved in this work. Rosatom Fuel Company TVEL (Rosatom Fuel Division) includes companies fabricating nuclear fuel, converting and enriching uranium, manufacturing gas centrifuges, conducting researches and producing designs. As the only nuclear fuel supplier to Russian NPPs, TVEL supplies fuel for a total of 75 power reactors in 15 countries, for research reactors in nine countries, as well as for propulsion reactors of the Russian nuclear fleet. Every sixth power reactor in the world runs on TVEL fuel. Rosatom Fuel Division is the world’s largest producer of enriched uranium and the leader on the global stable isotope market. The Fuel Division is actively developing new businesses in chemistry, metallurgy, energy storage technologies, 3D printing, digital products, and decommissioning of nuclear facilities. TVEL also includes Rosatom integrators for additive technologies and electricity storage systems. Rosenergoatom, Joint-Stock Company is part of Rosatom Electric Power Division and one of the largest companies in the industry acting as an operator of nuclear power plants. It includes, as its branches, 11 operating NPPs, including the FNPP, the Scientific and Technical Center for Emergency Operations at NPPs, Design and Engineering as well as Technological companies. In total, 37 power units with a total installed capacity of over 29.5 GW are in operation at 11 nuclear power plants in Russia. Machinery Manufacturing Plant, Joint-Stock Company (MSZ JSC, Elektrostal) is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of fuel for nuclear power plants. The company produces fuel assemblies for VVER-440, VVER-1000, RBMK-1000, BN-600,800, VK-50, EGP-6; powders and fuel pellets intended for supply to foreign customers. It also produces nuclear fuel for research reactors. The plant belongs to the TVEL Fuel Company of Rosatom.
