Legends and Lore Tower of London DISAPPOINTED!!😢

We booked the Legends and Lore Tower of London and it was a complete waste of time and money. We arrived 10 minutes early as per the instructions at the meeting point. The voucher stated a representative holding a The Tour Guy sign would be there. But she wasn’t holding a sign and only asked people if they were there for a tour. We said yes and then she asked if it was with The Tour Guy. She confirmed a few others. But was missing two. We waited a bit but again, not holding a sign would make it impossible for someone to find the guide. Because of this we departed 8 minutes late and had to rush our way through the massive crowds at Parliament Square to the boat tour which had already left without us. So we had to wait 30 minutes for the next one. It’s actually a public taxi boat and made other stops like a bus would. So 90 minutes later we arrived at Tower of London. Instead of taking us straight inside to start the tour, proceeds to tell us other things about the area. By the time we entered the Tower of London, it was now almost 2 hours into the tour. The rest of the tour was all outside. She did not take us inside any of the buildings. The highlight for many is The Crown Jewels and she acknowledged that. When we got to that building she stated “oh how lucky there’s no line up” and then kept us another 20 minutes outside showing us pictures from the book she had on things we would have learned inside. We then noticed a line up starting to form so we left the group to not waste anymore time. I feel like we got very little out of this tour on the actual Tower of London. After we finished seeing The Crown Jewels we joined the last Beefeater tour which is free with admission to Tower of London and got much more out of that. The audio self-guided tour I believe would have been a better option than The Tour Guy.

Stay away from tour guy

Seeing the youtube videos we jumped and booked semi day tour of paris. Apparently the guide had cold and wasnt wearing a mask. And was so disorganised that had forgotten to charge the batter of the speakers. Also she wasnt knowledgeable to many of the questions the group asked. And had the audacity to leave us hanging in the middle of the tour. A very bad taste in mouth

Book with awareness.

Book with awareness. We booked a once in the lifetime trip to see the colosseum in Rome, January 2024. We carefully selected a noon timeslot knowing that we arrive in Rome that morning and can't possibly make 8am. 30 days prior to the tour we received a reschedule for an 8:15 tour. This is impossible for us to meet but the company has zero flexibility - even though they have an 11am tour still advertised! We now don't have a colosseum tour booked - and the company is refusing a refund or reschedule!

We didn’t got any help when trying to…

We didn’t got any help when trying to find the guide in Paris. We had a contact number to the guide but it was the number to the office of this company, and a person in another country answered and could not help us. Since this was “our fault” as the company said, we could not get any refund, not even a partial. The ticket was for 4 people to the palace of Versailles, so this was a really large amount which we paid to the company, to provide us a guided visit. When we complained, they didn't even gave us the opportunity to get a new visit somewhere else, or any kind of service to not loose a good customer. So unprofessional and really, really not nice!

DO NOT BOOK UNTIL YOU READ THIS

DO NOT BOOK I booked and paid for a trip 5 months ago and when I arrived in Florence for the trip I was turned away at 7am saying the tour company had no record of my tour. The tour guide do not care. Refunded my $230 but $230 is irrelevant compared to the $3000+ my trip cost me only to be ruined by TTG. MASSIVE RISK USING THIS WEBSITE

The Roman Guy/The Tour Guy Changes Cancellation Policy?!

Has anyone had trouble with The Tour Guy/The Roman Guy regarding refunds? We made reservations and they promised free cancellation. We booked over $1,000 in tours and booked these back in January 2020. They are now refusing to honor their cancellation policy and say that they are now changing it to credit only. We had heard/read great things about them, and I understand COVID has impacted the travel industry but it has impacted families as well. We are very disappointed in this company and trying to figure out how to remedy this situation. I did not screenshot the free cancellation (which was all over their website back in January). I hate that our only remedy feels like dispute with credit card. Has anyone else encountered this with this company? Feedback appreciated!

That's the new Italian law.

Yes, this happened to us too. We cancelled in late March and were initially told that we would get the full refund. However, since we did not receive a refund after more than a month we emailed again. It seems due to the pandemic that things have changed and the Italian government has allowed vouchers/credit instead. They gave us a voucher/credit for the total paid ($225.00) plus a 25% discount on a future booking and this is good for three years. We plan to return to Italy so this was more than satisfactory for us. We have received other vouchers for purchased museum tickets and they are only valid for one year.

We got an email from Florence Museum, the company we booked a refundable tour of the Uffizi Gallery quoting the new Italian law chapter and verse and extending a voucher good for one year. That won’t happen, money gone X4 people. Eating Europe is a firm that we booked a food tour with. They are saying we will get a refund when they are back in business. We shall see. I’m not counting on it.

There is a Facebook page that allows an open discussion and provides information on refund issues. It appears to be moderated by several travel agents.

Honestly this doesn't appear as an Italian tour operator. There aren't in its website the standard declarations for Italian Tour Operators (like P.IVA, insurance number and so on): details usually reported in the colophon. Probably is a US or Canadian company operatng in Italy. Anyway, in the homepage the logo "24h cancellation" is still present, so if they refuse to follow that policy could be a matter for a lawyer. In the condition they state that a refund is done with a voucher. https://theromanguy.com/tours/italy/terms-conditions You could use the Google history to find a "cached" old version of the page. Or if you have the original e-mail of the booking the cancellation policy should be reported.

Yes, I have had the same problem. When we booked this tour Barcelona in a Day - I specifically read the cancellation policy (full refund if you cancel 24 hours prior to tour) & spoke to someone on the phone - one of our travel mates has health issues. They assured me we would receive a full refund if cancelled 24 hrs prior. Our tour was in May, I cancelled beginning of March - they promised the full refund but it would take 30-90 days. We patiently waited for our refund and now I received an email 90 days later that its the new travel industry to only issue future travel vouchers. My 2 friends have lost their jobs & businesses and we will not be able to travel any more. I am extremely disappointed in this company and WOULD NEVER recommend them to anyone - how can they ever stay in business if they don't honor their refund policies. And it appears they have now updated their cancellation policies on their website - but that wasn't the policy when I booked the tours.

Hi all! We decided to dispute the charge with AMEX. I pulled the cached webpage from when we booked promising 24hr cancellation. They are actually based in the US out of Philadelphia. I posted on a Facebook page (referred above and that we had also used to do research on them before booking) received a TON of responses. Lots of folks in this situation with this company.

I'm in the same boat. Not thrilled with their cancellation changes, and not sure if it's really kosher. Fortunately I plan to return to Italy later this year so I can rebook and use the credit, but if there's a path ahead to receive the proper monetary refund IAW their own published cancellation policy, I will gladly use another tour operator.

proper monetary refund IAW their own

‘How can a company stay in business if they refuse to honor their refund policy?’

I assume this is because they’re facing bankruptcy in the face and have difficult decisions to make every day. It’s not like someone got up on the wrong side of the bed and decided to mess with one of their customers because they felt like it.

Nigel, I think IAW means "in accordance with".

This week I too just received vouchers from them for tours in Rome that was supposed to be full refund. I'm not going to complain about the vouchers because the wedding was postponed for a year, so we will be traveling to Italy. (Although I think I would plan a trip to Italy anyway because most of all refunded pre-booked activities came in the form of vouchers and I really do not want to lose all of that money.) This is such a new experience no-one could have foreseen.

However, if the company stated full refund, then that is what they should honor. It seems we don't have a choice in the matter.

“Walks of Italy” did the same to us.

I was very happy to get the 25% adder and the "credit" good for two years, extendable.

"Yes", their website had said "money back" BUT if we universalized our claims, we'd be pushing them into bankruptcy and would get NOTHING.

I'm out a good chuck of $ on our trip. It's not like I like burning cash. But consider the options. Evan in Minnesota

How much money to do tours, did you pay everything in advance?

Some tours are paid after booking, it is the best option to avoid possible problems later.

It happened to me, with a tour that I bought with the cruise ship I was traveling on. After fighting, the cruise returned my money.

Since then, I only do free walking tours. The last one was in Rome, with this company: www.guruwalk.com that has a lot to choose from.

Take heart and get your money back soon.

@daavid.v.a Good advertise, but please remember that that is an illegal tour operator doing illegal tours. Should be interesting know how the manage the COVID rules. Probably that will be even a ery risky tour!

Hi all, we have had luck so far! I was able to find the web archives showing we booked with a 24-hour cancellation policy. After trying to work with Roman Guy directly (and seeing that I along with lots of folks were getting no where), I decided to dispute with AMEX. We had two purchases with them. The first got settled quickly with RG agreeing to give back nearly all of the funds. The second AMEX ruled in our favor and the matter will be final in a few weeks barring nothing changes from RG on that second one. AMEX handled the matter quickly. RG is NOT and Italian company but one based in the US. It had until this excellent reviews. We don't have any interest in booking with them in the future. The thread I following on Facebook illustrated many people in the same boat. Thanks to you all for your suggestions!

Porn Star Rocco Siffredi’s Netflix Bio-Series ‘Supersex’ Is More Tedious Than Sexy: TV Review

Supersex. (L to R) Alessandro Borghi as Rocco, Gaia Messerklinger as Moana in episode 104 of Supersex. Cr. Lucia Iuorio/Netflix © 2024

Loosely based on the experiences of real-life porn sensation Rocco Siffredi , known as the “Italian Stallion,” Netflix ’s “ Supersex ” isn’t actually very sexy at all. Instead, the seven-part series, created by Francesca Manieri, is a tale about family, masculinity and toxic bonds. While the show, which stars Alessandro Borghi in the lead role, has some interesting chapters, the surrealist elements — including some hallucinatory moments and the bizarre way some of the sex scenes are filmed — make it more than a biographical account. Instead, it’s an overly complex examination of relationships and the vices people indulge in to escape their emotional turmoil.

Series opener “Superpower” acts mainly as a coming-of-age story. Following Rocco’s retirement news, the show zips back to 1974. Ten-year-old Rocco Tano feels trapped in the impoverished rural town of Ortona and lost in the chaos of his family life. His mother is devoted to his mentally disabled brother Claudio, and Rocco lives in the shadow of his charismatic older half-brother, Tommaso (Adriano Giannini). Tommaso is Rocco’s North Star. He represents a type of freedom and hypermasculinity that appears out of reach for the men of Ortona. Tommaso also has the love of the town’s most stunning woman, Lucia (Jasmine Trinca), which only endears Rocco to him further.

In addition to examining Rocco’s family dynamic, “Supersex” zooms in on his fixation on sex, which begins at a very young age. The series unpacks his crush on Lucia and later his discovery of “Supersex,” a pornography magazine starring Gabriel Pontello. The euphoria from observing and later engaging in sex is a feeling Rocco chases across the next three decades. But his sex work comes at the expense of his mental health. It also destroys the romances and familial bonds he tries to form and maintain.

Despite a lifelong admiration of Tommaso’s machismo, his brother’s treatment of Lucia, who funds their lifestyle through her sex work on the streets of Paris, slowly shifts Rocco’s point of view. An invitation to a sex club awakens previously unknown desires. Becoming a porn star gives him financial security, but his inner turmoil stems from trying to live up to the expectations his family places on him.

“Supersex” dwells far too long on Rocco’s dysfunctional brotherhood with Tommaso, giving the toxic and exhausting connection unneeded exposition. Fewer episodes and less time spent on the self-destructive café manager would have kept the storyline squarely on Rocco’s psyche. Moreover, Manieri positions Lucia’s life as a counternarrative to Rocco’s. As with Rocco’s female co-stars, she isn’t allowed the same agency and status he obtains. Women are sexualized and then vilified for being sexual in the same breath. While Lucia eventually finds herself on a new path, it’s not without suffering and sacrifice, difficulties Rocco never contends with. The pair are an intriguing juxtaposition, but this mirroring gets muddled under their dark pull toward Tommaso. Similarly, Rocco’s enthusiasm for rough sex acts is never fully explored.

Still, “Supersex” makes some smart choices. Intercourse and other types of sex are showcased, of course, but these scenes aren’t gratuitous. Instead, they illustrate Rocco’s emotional state as he deals with loss and yearning or even demonstrate his self-worth.

The penultimate episode, “Resurrection of the Bodies,” is the standout and centers on Rocco’s return to Ortona amid his mother’s illness and one of the biggest highlights of his career, winning best European actor at the Hot d’Or Awards. In 53 minutes, Rocco confronts the effects of shame and how so-called family members react to him when he’s no longer playing by their rules.

Though Rocco’s story is solidly depicted, audiences hoping for a bio-series-type narrative won’t find it here. It’s also worth noting that Netflix offers a dubbed English version, but the show is best viewed in Italian with subtitles. Overall, “Supersex” isn’t just an examination of one man’s life and career but a look at the lives people create, however unconventional, when they dare to move through the world as their most authentic selves.

“Supersex” premieres March 6 on Netflix .

That Dog Drake Brings Out on Stage at His Tour Is Really a Man

Drake's It's All a Blur Tour - Big as the What? is getting weird. At his most recent concert stop, Drizzy brings out a man dressed as a dog to join him onstage.

Drake Brings Out a Dog Which Turns Out to Be a Man

On Saturday (March 9), a video hit social media featuring Drake performing at his It's All a Blur Tour - Big as the What? and bringing out a dog while he performs his 2010 track "Laugh Now Cry Later." In the clip below, Drizzy is seen petting the dog while he's entertaining the crowd. At one point, the furry animal appears to give Drake a paw gesture that resembles a thumbs up.

While concertgoers might have assumed that the huge canine was some a futuristic robotic toy, it was actually a man who was dressed in a dog costume. Apparently, every night a person jumps into the canine suit and pretends to be a dog onstage with Drake.

The strange dog act might serve as a connection to Drake's 2023 project For All the Dogs , although it's remains unclear why Drizzy is bringing out fake animals on his tour.

Last month, a video popped up on social media featuring a fan sitting in a chair and Drake activating a button that would release a bucket of slime directly on top of the person's head.

"Rich, I'm sorry my brother, I'll love ya. I'll get back at you at another time. I'm sorry brother," Drake said before the fan got drenched in green slime from the huge vat.

Apparently, the slimefest took place at his Nashville, Tenn. stop on Feb. 8. Check out the video below.
