Finding RV Car Wash Near Me: Where Can I Get My RV Washed?

  • July 15, 2019 /
  • By R. Geraldi

Washing your RV can be easy. You just need to decide whether you want to do it yourself or let someone else handle the cleaning duty. As you get more experience with RVs you will find that getting them clean is very convenient even when you are not near large cities.

Where Can I Get My RV Washed? There are several good ways to find an RV wash service near you. You can use the national companies apps, the yellow pages or do an internet search. A little planning before you go can save you a lot of time and a few headaches. Not to mention furl costs.

If you need to wash your RV and am not sure where to go or if there is an RV wash service located near you, just continue to read our article. The answers to some of your washing questions are there waiting for you to see them.

Where Can I Wash an RV? (DIY)

One of the answers to this question is do it at your home if you have the room. All you have to do is hook up your garden hose, get some soapy water in a bucket and go to work. Just do not use dish washing or other harsh soaps when you do.

Another good spot to wash your RV yourself is to drive to the nearest truck stop . These businesses usually have large enough facilities to wash big rigs and they can handle your RV with ease.

Another location would be the car self wash service locations. That is if you have the height clearance to fit your RV inside the little bays. One tip to self washing. If you want to do it yourself, then at different times of the year, just use a damp cloth and wipe your RV down.

Keep rinsing the wash cloth as needed. This will save on the dirt you need to get off when you go and wash it later in the season.

Common RV Wash Locations (Car Wash for RV)

travel trailer wash near me

You may find that you get a lot of funny reactions from people when you pull up to a regular car wash with your RV. Also the employees may wave you off as they may not allow for RV washing at their car washes.

Thankfully, there are alternatives and there are such a thing as a car wash for RVs. These are run by a variety of different companies around the nation and they are equipped and prepared to help you get your RV washed.

To get you started on the right foot, just click here for a simple list of some of the RV washes around the country. The list covers most of the states and even lists one in Canada.

Other than that, you can use your local yellow pages or do an internet search to find one that is in your area. There is no sense causing yourself problems by trying to go to a car wash for cars when you can easily wash your RV designed for RVs.

Does Camping World Wash RVs

If Camping World offers RV wash services it must be done on a dealership by dealership basis. There is no mention of offering that service on their website. Their Good Sam club does not offer the service and their is no mention of it under their maintenance and repairs section.

Also, Camping World seems to be changing its purpose and focusing more on RV sales than any other service they provide. At least one dealership has stopped overnight RV parking unless the RV owner meets very strict requirements, including purchasing their RV at a Camping World outlet.

Camping world does offer a good RV wash product but it is a DIY product and not something they will do for you. Also, there is no mention of Camping World on the list of RV wash locations we gave you earlier.

How to Find an RV Car Wash Near Me?

travel trailer wash near me

There are two simple and fast ways to find an RV wash service near your location. The first is a bit old fashioned, you just turn to the yellow pages and let your fingers do the walking.

Businesses that advertise in the Yellow Pages are usually reputable and it is easy to check them out. The second easiest way to find an RV wash near you is to o to your computer and do an internet search.

Just type in the words RV wash services and give your city or zip code to find a local RV wash service near you. Also, you can search either place for the nearest Truck stop that offers washing services for the big rigs that enter their establishment.

Another way to find one near you is to ask your local gas station attendants. In the old days, gas stations knew where certain businesses were and they had maps to help you find your way. These may be few and far between these days.

If you are traveling to Alaska, here is one that is ready to handle all sorts of washing duties including your pet dog. A little searching before you leave home will save you a lot of time and fuel trying to hunt one down while you are on the road.

Some Final Comments

Keeping your RV nice and clean on the outside, helps extend the life of your recreational vehicle. Dirt and grime as well as smog and other pollutants can take their toll. Also, your vehicle will look great once it is all tidied up.

Whether you want to do it yourself or get someone to do it for you, you will find that there is an RV wash service near you. Some of these businesses are chain outlets and may provide better service than a local company. Or you may find the reverse to be true.

Where you get your RV cleaned is your choice. Just remember that the RV washes are easy to find and are as close to you as your yellow page book or computer.

Where Can I Get My Travel Trailer Washed

This article is about where to find a place to wash your travel trailer.

Many people who own a travel trailer want to know how they can get it washed. This article will provide some tips on how you can find the best place to get your travel trailer washed.

What is the best way to clean a travel trailer?

Washing Fiberglass, Metal, and Enamel For this reason, good old soap and water is perfectly well-suited for cleaning most RVs. All you need to get started is a bucket that mixes mild detergent like dish soap with water. Use a brush with a telescoping handle to apply the mixture to one section at a time. [1]

Can you use a power washer on a camper?

You should never pressure wash or power wash your RV because of the high-pressure of the water will damage your RV’s exterior surfaces and components. As well, pressure washing injects water into crevices that may seep into your RV’s interior. [2]

Can I use Dawn to wash my camper?

If you don’t know how to wash an RV, you might assume you can simply use dish soap and water. But regular soap will strip away your RV’s coating while also leaving a film, so don’t do it. Instead, buy an RV cleaner that is tough enough to remove dirt and dust,Opens a new window but not too hard on the paint. [3]

How often should you wash and wax your RV?

Waxing your RV should be thought of as must-do maintenance twice a year to keep the paint in good shape. Not only does it keep the paint looking better, but also it will help prevent staining and sometimes chipping. When waxing, do a two-foot section at a time. [4]

How much does it cost to clean a travel trailer?

The average RV detailing service starts at around $5 per foot for a basic clean of the exterior only. But for a more thorough job, including the interior, your RV detailing cost per foot is going to be $25+. [5]

How often should you wash your travel trailer?

Depending on who you talk to, many RV enthusiasts recommend washing your rig 10-12 times a year. Some find it more convenient to just hire someone to do the dirty work, while others may actually enjoy it and get a sense of accomplishment once they’re done. [6]

How much does it cost to pressure wash a camper?

As a starting point, it is reasonable to expect a full exterior high pressure wash and a “mini” interior detail for around $15 per foot. If you own a medium-sized RV measuring around 22 feet, a detailing package can cost around $330. [7]

What is the best way to clean an RV rubber roof?

Mix your cleaning solution. Mix 6 ounces of Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner with 8 cups (half-gallon) of cold water in a bucket or large container. Sweep roof. Clear the RV roof of any debris, leaves, or loose dirt with a broom. Rinse. Apply cleaner. Scrub. Rinse. [8]

Is washer and dryer in RV worth it?

Although they do their job fairly well, some RVers generally stay away from these types of RV washers and dryers. They tend to use a lot of water, and drying clothes can take a long time (and therefore a lot of electricity!). However, if these are the kind that fit in your type of RV, go for it. [9]

What is the best thing to wash the outside of a camper with?

To clean the exterior of your RV, we suggest parking it in a place not in direct sunlight. First, spray it with water to remove dust. Next, using an abundant amount of clean water and a car-washing mitt or sponge, wash your RV from top to bottom. You can also use a mild car-washing soap. [10]

What is the best soap to wash a RV?

What is the Best Soap to Wash an RV? Mild soap and water are a great, and inexpensive, way to get your RV clean. Some recommended RV cleaners include Simple Green, Star Brite, Gel Gloss, Reliable 1, and many more which can work wonders on your rig. [11]

Should I wash my RV roof?

But if you’re on this page, you’ve no doubt realized your RV roof needs some TLC too. The #1 most important tip when it comes RV roof maintenance is keep it clean. Regularly cleaning your roof will extend its lifespan, which is good, because replacing an RV roof is much more expensive and time-consuming. [12]

Who doesn’t love the clean and fresh feeling of a newly washed RV? The good news is that washing your RV doesn't have to be difficult.

You just need to decide one thing: do you want to wash it yourself or pay someone else to do it?

The following is my guide to finding a place to get your RV washed, both self-serve and professional services. I also include some quick tips at the end for those washing your RV yourself.

We use affiliate links and may receive a small commission on purchases. Thank you for your support.

DIY RV Wash

Where to Get Your RV Washed

If you are looking for a good place to wash your RV yourself, there are a few places you can go.

The first one is obvious: wash your RV at your own home! If you have the room and a good spot to wash your RV, then you can treat it sort of like washing your car. Hook up your garden hose, grab a bucket and RV wash, a good RV brush , and get to scrubbing!

(Read below for my tips and tricks on washing your RV yourself!)

2. Self-Serve Car Wash Station

Another great spot to wash your RV is a local do-it-yourself car wash location. Many self-serve car wash locales have large stalls that accommodate your RV. Just make sure that the stall has clearance for the height of your RV.

You can search “self serve car wash station” on your GPS or Google. A lot of times they’ll note if they accommodate RVs or have pictures where you can see for yourself.

3. Truck Stop

Another great place to wash your RV is at a truck stop. These locations usually have facilities designed to wash big rigs, which can easily accommodate your RV.

Best of all, they’re usually located right off the interstate or main roadways. Plus, they’re easy to search for on GPS. If they don’t specify whether or not they have a wash, you can give them a quick call to ask.

Professional RV Wash

Do you want to pay someone to wash your RV for you? I sure don’t blame you. Washing an RV or even a camper van can be quite the chore. Even if you normally wash it yourself, it’s nice to have it professionally done once in a while.

Here are some great options and how to find them.

1. RV Repair Shops & Dealers

Quite a few RV repair shops and dealers have on-site RV washing stations. Some offer washing services to the public, including detailing options.

But, even if they don’t wash RVs on-site, they are one of the best resources to find a washing location nearby. A quick call to a local RV mechanic or dealer can save you a lot of searching online.

2. Mobile RV Wash & Wax

View this post on Instagram A post shared by National Detail Pros (@nationaldetailpros)

You know how there are mobile pet groomers that come to you? Well, guess what! There’s a version of that for RV grooming… I mean washing.

They are most commonly known as “Mobile RV Wash & Wax” or “Mobile RV Detailing” so I recommend searching for those terms specifically.

Just be aware of campground regulations if you’re hoping they’ll come there. Some campgrounds allow it, while others do not. This actually brings me to my next suggestion…

3. Ask Your Campground

Just like dealers are a good resource, so are campgrounds. They’ll likely be able to direct you to both self-serve and professional washing locations.

Better yet, many campgrounds have a go-to mobile RV washer and detailer. Oftentimes, you’ll get the best deal going with their guy than anyone else.

Pro Tip: Before calling a mobile RV wash service, ask nearby RVers if they want a wash, too. You might be able to get a group discount.

How to Wash Your RV: DIY Tips and Tricks

Where to Get Your RV Washed

Are you interested in washing your own RV, but do not know where to start? Whether you want to save the money or were unable to find a place that will wash it for you, don’t worry. You can easily wash it yourself!

The following is my guide to the best way to wash your RV.

What You Need:

  • Soft-bristle brush or sponge
  • Water source
  • Bucket (optional)
  • RV Cleaner that is safe for your metal, paint, and fiberglass RV body
  • Non-abrasive towel or chamois
  • Step ladder

We found a terrific product that gets bugs off our RV! Join us as we share our favorite way to clean off 5 states' worth of bugs from our LTV Wonder. For info on the product, go to https://amzn.to/35fmyVs

Washing the RV body:

  • Rinse off your rig to remove any debris or loose dirt.
  • Apply your cleaner, per its directions.

Not all cleaners are the same. Some you simply spray onto the vehicle, while others you have to dilute with water in a bucket.

  • Use your soft bristle brush to gently work in the cleaner. Be careful not to scratch the paint, but be sure to work the areas where the dirt is thick or hard to rinse off.

It is best to work in sections. Clean and dry one section, and then

         move onto the next section.

  • Rinse the RV, then towel dry immediately.

Washing the Roof:

RV roofs are tricky. Some you can walk on, some you can’t. So before ever stepping foot onto your roof, check first with your dealer or manual.

RV roofs come in two types: fiberglass or rubber. For cleaning a rubber roof, use a rubber roof cleaning product.

Fiberglass roofs can be easily cleaned. And most likely by the same product that you use on the rest of the vehicle.

If you are unsure of the type of RV roof you have, refer to your manual or contact your dealer to find out. And check out this post: Best RV Roof Cleaner (3 Top Picks 2022)

Where to Get Your RV Washed

Washing the Awning:

Washing your awning is pretty simple, but you do want to be careful. Most awnings only get dusty from camping, so they just need to be hosed off.

Scrubbing it can loosen the fabric or finish of the awning, so it should be avoided.

If you have a stubborn stain, many cleaners can sit on them for a while to loosen that dirt. Then you can simply rinse it off. Just be sure to check the cleaning instructions so that you do not damage the awning fabric.

I have a list of the Best RV Awning Cleaners you should check out.

Washing the Wheels:

To wash the wheels, it’s best to buy a wheel and rim cleaning product. Most RV wheels usually have aluminum wheel covers, painted rims or chrome rims. Be sure to find one that can work for your vehicle’s wheels.

Washing Gaskets and Weather Seals:

Doors, windows and slide-outs all come with flexible weather sealant or gasket. They are made from rubber, and are meant to keep out the elements from your RV.

Cleaning these gaskets and weather seals can help keep them from deteriorating.

To properly clean these, use a silicone-based cleaner . This can help extend their life by preventing them from drying out. Many of these cleaners are sprays, and do not require any wiping.

How To Wash an RV

travel trailer wash near me

Washing an RV is not like washing a car. It’s a lot more like washing a small house–with wheels. There isn’t an abundance of commercial RV wash locations to simply drive your RV through. Rolling up to a high school fundraiser and letting them tackle it is a lot to ask.

Before we get into the details, here’s a short overview of the steps for washing an RV:

  • Park where you can easily access the roof and all four sides
  • Assemble your RV cleaning supplies (brushes, cleaning solution, bucket, ladder, etc.)
  • Mix your cleaning solution according to its instructions
  • Work from roof to tires (top to bottom)
  • Rinse–scrub–rinse–repeat
  • Work in small sections to avoid soap drying before you can rinse
  • Use a squeegee to prevent water spots on windows

We’ll also note here that you should always consult your owner’s manual for model-specific RV cleaning instructions.

Where To Wash Your RV

travel trailer wash near me

There are so many makes, models, and sizes of RVs. Cleaning a pop-up camper or Happier Camper will take a lot less time (and soap and water) than cleaning a Class A diesel motorhome .

Because of that, you will rarely find RV parks that are willing to let you use enough water to wash your full RV. Scrubbing and rinsing the bugs and dirt grime from the front bumper and windshield is usually acceptable at a campground.

But to wash the entire coach, you’re going to need to be at home or find a very friendly person willing to let you use a pretty significant amount of water. If you’re traveling, stopping at a truck wash or a self-service car and RV wash is your best bet.

How Often Should You Change The Water?

change-water-how-to-wash-your-rv-04-2022

Just like mopping the floor, if you don’t change your water regularly, you’ll simply end up pushing dirt and sand around. This can cause scratches in the body of your rig and leave you with a smudged, smeared RV body.

For smaller motorhomes under 25 feet in length, you should typically change your water halfway through the cleaning process. This means you can clean one side and the back of your coach before changing out water and adding more of your RV-friendly cleaning solution .

For longer RVs, you should change the water out 2-3 times to avoid scratching the body. Of course, you may need to refresh the water even more frequently if your RV is especially dirty.

Can You Pressure Wash an RV Rubber Roof?

travel trailer wash near me

Pressure washing your RV isn’t always a good idea. RVs often have overlapping layers or gaskets that can be damaged by high-pressure water, resulting in leaks. Areas sealed with silicone or other malleable materials can be pulled loose and seriously damaged.

RVs with metal bodies are also susceptible to damage from a pressure washer. Because they’re clad and riveted, water from high-pressure washers can seep in between the seams. And if your RV has decals, a pressure washer can peel them right off.

This isn’t to say you absolutely can’t use a pressure washer on an RV. It’s just a good rule to maintain a safe distance and have a good working knowledge of pressure washers before you do.

Typically, a good soft brush and a garden hose with a sprayer attachment will do the job just fine. Cleaning solutions made for RVs work to break down dirt and grime so that you don’t need that extra pressure to clean them off.

What is the Best RV Wash and Wax?

wash-and-wax-how-to-wash-your-rv-04-2022

RVs tend to come with three primary exteriors: metal, painted metal, and fiberglass. Each of these may require a special kind of RV cleaner or brush (no, dish soap won’t suffice). We recommend always reading your owner’s manual for manufacturer suggestions to help you clean and wax your RV.

Metal bodies are common on older RVs and trailers, but they’re still used on certain brands today (think Airstream). They’re commonly aluminum and stainless steel and are best cleaned with a pre-wash that removes the majority of grime and grit. Then, you’ll want to use non-abrasive cleaners and soft-bristled brushes and mitts to remove the remaining residue.

Painted metal bodies can be treated like most vehicles. A gentle cleaner that’s made for RV use will do the trick, along with a soft-bristled brush. Stubborn stains and grime will require a bit more elbow grease, but they should come out with the pressure from a hose with a sprayer attachment.

Fiberglass bodies are more common in modern RVs because they’re lighter—inherently making them more fuel-efficient. Some are painted and some feature decals like stripes or other decorations.

For fiberglass, the best solution is a wash-and-wax product that cleans and protects your RV exterior. Most are environmentally friendly as well, which is particularly important if you’re planning to clean your RV in a campground.

How To Clean RV Awnings

awning-cleaning-how-to-wash-your-rv-04-2022

Awnings are generally pretty simple to clean. This is because it’s difficult to get them dirty unless you’re camping in a dusty area. Usually, it’s as easy as hosing off the top and bottom sides of the fabric.

Gentle scrubbing may be needed for bird droppings or other residues that don’t come off after an initial rinse. Always use a soft brush with minimal pressure for this, and you can also consider using an awning cleaner to help remove caked-on grime. Most importantly, make sure your awning dries completely before rolling it up.

Treating Gaskets and Weather Seals

gaskets-and-seals-how-to-wash-your-rv-04-2022

Every window, door, and slide-out on an RV has a gasket or flexible weather sealant. They’re rubber pieces that protect the RV from the elements. Keeping these seals and gaskets clean preserves them in good working order—meaning fewer replacements.

Silicone-based cleaners and lubricants keep your gaskets and seals from drying out. Many simply spray on and require no wiping or additional cleaning, but read the instructions carefully to make sure you apply them properly.

RV Rims and Tires

rims-and-tires-how-to-wash-your-rv-04-2022

RVs tend to come with three kinds of wheels: painted rims, aluminum wheel covers, and chrome rims. The good news is that all three can be cleaned with the same RV cleaning solution and soft-bristled brush you use on the rest of your RV.

Here are a couple of additional considerations:

  • Remove aluminum wheel covers periodically to check for signs of rust.
  • Chrome rims are easily scratched. Avoid hard-bristled brushes and abrasive cleaners.

Your RV’s tires should also be cleaned with soap and water as you’re working on the rims. To shine your tires back up after they’ve dried completely, apply a tire and trim shine. For more tire care recommendations, read our guide to maintaining RV tires .

How to Wash an RV Roof

roof-clean-how-to-wash-your-rv-04-2022

RV roofs come in two types: rubber and fiberglass. Rubber roofs are mostly a thing of the past,  but they were prevalent on RVs from the 80s and 90s. Fiberglass roofs are more common on modern motorhomes.

To clean a rubber roof, you’ll need an appropriate rubber roof cleaning product. Check your owner’s manual for rubber roof cleaning instructions and clean your roof every few months to keep it in good shape.

Avoid roof sealants or coatings that aren’t specifically made for rubber roofs. Using a product that isn’t safe for rubber roofs will prevent your roof from flexing appropriately and cause further damage.

On RVs with rubber roofs, black streaks can also develop on the roof or the sides of the camper. To remove them, you’ll need a   black streak remover made for RVs.

Fiberglass roofs are a little easier to clean. In most cases, you can use the same cleaner you’re using on the rest of your RV. Still, consult your RV owner’s manual for warnings related to roof maintenance before you select a product and start cleaning.

A Word of Caution About Getting on RV Roofs

word-of-caution-how-to-wash-your-rv-04-2022

Some RV roofs are walkable, but others aren’t. Check your owner’s manual or with your dealer before stepping foot on (or potentially through) your RV’s roof.

For walkable roofs, it’s a good idea to wear shoes with a good grip on wet surfaces. Also, keep in mind that your footwear will get wet. Find a spotter that can assist and keep watch as you bring a hose with a sprayer attachment up your RV ladder , along with an appropriate cleaning solution and a soft brush.

For non-walkable roofs, you’ll need a telescoping RV ladder to spray and clean from various locations around the sides of your RV roof. It’s also a good idea to have a spotter nearby during this process.

If you’re not steady on your feet or you’re simply nervous about heights, you can leave washing your RV roof up to trained service and care technicians. Find a Camping World Service Center near you to assist with your RV roof cleaning needs.

If you’re on the road and you need to come into a Camping World location for supplies anyway, inquire about our RV Spa Treatment . As you shop, our service technicians can wash and wax your entire RV, inside and out!

Because of everything you’ve learned about the intricacies of cleaning your rig, you’ll know there are several questions to ask before you let any contractor start cleaning. Before you agree to a price, make sure you’re getting everything you want to be included in that price.

Here are some questions to ask:

  • Are your brushes soft-bristle brushes?
  • What kind of detergents are you using?
  • Will a pressure washer be used?
  • Does the price include the rims, awning, roof, and windows?

Here’s the one thing to know: don’t fear cleaning your RV. It’s important for the longevity of your motorhome, whether new or used , and you’ll be happier with a home-on-the-road that’s clean inside and out . There are dozens of options for the right tools you’ll need.

For all the aging baby-boomers with RV’s how does one find a service to clean (especially the roof)? It is no longer safe to climb up on roof. We live in a small town.

' src=

It is possible for you to clean up the rubber roof of your RV with the mixture of water and mild detergent. You just need to apply the mixture using a medium-bristle brush as a means of removing the molds and stains. However, ensure that you avoid using a dishwashing detergent or cleaner, which contains citrus ingredients, harsh abrasives, and petroleum solvents. These ingredients might damage the rubber roof severely.

' src=

Thoroughly wash the entire roof surface. Clean dirt, debris and any loose material from the roof surface. Use mild detergent and garden hose to wash the roof surface. Don’t use harsh chemicals or petroleum products as they can damage the roof surface. If you find the roof surface is tearing apart apply RV Roof Magic.

Wish I could find a decent self serve wash here in Sacramento. There is a guy who will cenjoy to the rv park but he charges 350. And the nearby truck wash always has a a very long wait time.

I use a mobile RV detailing service that comes to my house. 40 foot Tiffin Phaeton, costs me 140 bucks For an extra 160 bucks he waxes it. I wax mine at least every 6 months. In between I wash it myself with a spotless water device. Wash it and Don”t have to dry it. Cuts the total time of the project from 3 hours to 1.5 hours. Drying a large beast is a royal pain. I use baby shampoo and a half cup of white vinegar as my cleaning solution. Baby shampoo is very mild and vinegar gets rid of any hard water issues. Then I rinse with the spotless water device

I seal my roof about every 3 years. A rubber roof is only good for about ten years before the elements dry it out and it starts tearing. Sealing it is the only way to keep fro having to replace it.

Where Can I Wash RV

Where Can I Wash My RV Near Me?

Aaron Richardson

  • Last Updated: November 10, 2023
  • 7 minutes read

Use Google Maps or a directory like Yelp to find an RV wash near you. Simply enter “RV wash near me” in the search bar and see a list of nearby options. You can alternatively consider local RV parks or camping grounds, as they often have RV wash stations.

Locating where to get your RV washed can be challenging. This is because RV journeys often take us to unfamiliar places. In the first few weeks of my full-time RVing in Navarre, Florida, I struggled to decide where to get the vehicle washed. I eventually settled for the services of an RV detailer since they use the right products and the price wasn’t outrageous.

Your case may be different, but the good news is I have done enough research and created this article to walk you through the various ways to easily identify locations around you where you can wash your RV.

The Different RV Wash Options Around You

The Different RV Wash Options Around You

In the table below, I have illustrated the different easy-to-locate places around you to get your RV washed. This will help you make a decision faster in case you’re in a hurry:

Later in this article, you will also learn the price expectations to have in mind for washing RVs and the various options available to get such a service at a slashed price in different RV wash locations. So I encourage you to read to the end.

  • The Yelp database is the most valuable resource for finding RV wash services near you.
  • It has extensive user-generated reviews and ratings, along with pictures of these RV wash facilities taken by customers.
  • I have relied on the platform each time I travel inter-state to get insights into the quality and experiences of other customers about the best RV wash options in local areas.
  • However, if opening an account looks cumbersome, there are other options.

Let’s look at these various RV wash options in detail:

Truck Wash At Truck Shops

Truck Wash At Truck Shops

If you can locate a truck shop around you, finding a place to get your RV washed becomes easier. You can pull into these locations and align with other big rigs. I particularly like the RV wash option because it’s cheap and easy to find.

With online directories like DC Book Company, you can access a list of various truck wash stops in your location.

Meanwhile, prices vary by location but are usually charged by RV length.

Mobile RV Wash Companies

You can also find RV wash near you by contacting mobile RV wash companies. I recommend this option if your rig is stationary and moving it to truck stops is too much work. You must usually schedule to come wherever you’ve parked your RV. But their services aren’t the cheapest option, costing hundreds of dollars.

But the good side is that they often focus on cleaning the awnings, the plastic on your vent, air conditioning covers, your roof, and many other vehicle details.

Remember that most RV parks don’t allow cleaning of vehicles in the campground due to water usage and disposal. So, if you’re in a campground, get permission before using a mobile RV wash company.

Examples of reputable mobile RV wash companies include On The Spot, Greg Hoffman’s Mobile RV Wash, and Mr. H20, among many others, which you can find using the Yelp platform based on your current location.

RV Dealerships

RV Dealerships

If you’re looking for where to wash your RV near you, consider the closest RV dealership . If you don’t know any, you can ask local gas station attendants or fellow RV owners at the campsites.

Many RV dealerships operate wash facilities on-site because while selling RVs, they also want to ensure buyers leave the facility with clean rigs.

So, it’s possible to find an RV dealer near you offering a cleaning service. The best part of this option is that while you have access to get your rig washed, it also makes you closer to getting repairs and maintenance done if needed.

Google Search

A quick Google search is another way to find RV wash companies or facilities around you. However, it would be best if you input the right queries in the search engine to see the results you’re looking for

Log on to Google and type “RV wash near me.” The result will expose you to a long list of companies around your location currently offering such service, along with their opening times, cost, and customer reviews.

You can also leverage Google Maps to navigate your way to the location of these RV wash companies.

Yelp Database

image

Yelp is a company that publishes crowd-sourced reviews about businesses. People, especially tourists who just arrived in a new area, use the platform to locate places of interest like restaurants, bars, and hotels.

RV wash companies are one of the many businesses that Yelp can help you find based on your location. The best part is that it gives you access to other users’ reviews, ratings, pictures, and opinions about the company so that you know what you’re getting into.

To find an RV wash near you on Yelp, follow these steps:

  • Open the Yelp app or website.
  • Type “RV wash” or a related keyword in the search bar.
  • Add your location or enable location services to find options nearby.
  • Browse the search results, which include user ratings, reviews, and photos.
  • Filter and sort the results based on your preferences, such as distance or budget.
  • Click on a listing to view more details and contact information for the RV wash service you’re interested in.

How Much Does It Cost to Wash an RV?

The cost of washing your RV depends on the length and the type of services you want. Many auto detailing and RV wash facilities charge approximately $5 per foot.

However, the cost can go as high as $45 per foot when you want someone to rinse, wax, and do other interior detailing for your RV. Meanwhile, it also depends on your location.

While I was at Navarre, the RV detailer charged me $18 for a simple wash and wax. But sometimes, we land between $25 and $30 per foot on RVs. This price range can be different in other parts of the US.

For instance, some RV owners in Elkhart County, Indiana, testified spending around $300 to $450 for a wash and wax on a 44′ RV in campgrounds.

Where do you wash your RV?

You can wash your RV at specialized RV wash stations, truck stops, or even at home if you have the space and equipment. Many RV owners prefer using dedicated RV wash services so they don’t have to worry about proper cleaning and waste disposal.

Can you wash an RV in a car wash?

Yes, you can wash an RV in a car wash. Many car wash facilities offer large bays or specialized equipment for cleaning RVs and other oversized vehicles.

How do you dry an RV after washing it?

You can use a leaf blower on low settings to dry away water droplets from your RV after washing. Alternatively, you can use a soft, absorbent microfiber cloth or a squeegee to remove excess water. Pay attention to seams, corners, and windows as you dry the vehicle.

Washing an RV is nothing like washing a car, SUV, or truck. Some class A motorhomes even stretch up to 45 feet. RVs also come in different types and shapes. Therefore, washing an RV requires a well-thought-out strategy, an abundance of cleaning products, plenty of water, and if you can get it, additional manpower. This article highlights the different aspects you must consider when washing and waxing your RV.

★★★★★ "Saw this being promoted on a big YouTube channel and thought why not try it. Was a bit skeptical but WOW. Super easy to apply and car is shining. Water still pelts off 3 weeks later! Gonna ditch the wax and will continue to use." - Josh S.

Why Is It Important To Wash Your RV?

travel trailer wash near me

When dirt and grime is left to collect on the surface of your RV over a long period, it cakes up and hardens, making it harder to remove when you finally get around to cleaning your rig. While trying to remove the caked-up dirt, you may end up smearing and smudging it over the surface of your rig, causing scratches and swirl marks.

Dirt and grime can also damage your RV. RVs have many sections and numerous features with seals and connections, most of which can easily be compromised when dirt builds up on the outside. For example, the gaskets around their doors, windows, or sliding sections can get damaged or corroded when dirt and grime collects in them.

Moreover, when dirt and moisture collects on the roof of an RV, it can lead to the buildup of moss or algae, which can cause mold or rust to set into the walls of the RV.

There’s also the fact that dirt and grime makes an RV look old and causes it to actually age faster. If you’re planning on selling or trading in your RV some years down the road, you need to clean it regularly to ensure it gets a good resale value when you finally decide to let go of it.

How To Find An RV Wash Near Me (And Should You?)

travel trailer wash near me

Finding an automated car wash for your RV isn’t as easy as it is to find one for your car, van, truck, or SUV. Most automated car washes aren’t equipped to handle vehicles as big as RVs, so any attempt to navigate your RV toward an automated car wash may cause the employees to start waving their hands at you frantically as they try to stop you. Besides this, the jets of water in a car wash can flood and ruin your RV’s vent fans and ceiling HVAC system . The different attached features on your RV, e.g. your TV antenna, may also get damaged in a car wash.

Therefore, you’re better off cleaning your RV yourself. When you do so, you have more control over the cleaning products and equipment used in the cleaning process, meaning that you’re sure to get better results. Plus, when cleaning your rig yourself, you’ll be able to give better care to all the sensitive or vulnerable parts of your RV, making it last longer. Read on to learn how to DIY!

RV Washing And Car Washing - What’s The Difference?

travel trailer wash near me

  • RV washing requires more resources : The size of RVs vary depending on the type, but they can be several times bigger than regular cars. This means you’ll require more time, more water, and more products when cleaning them.
  • Special care to certain parts : Unlike most cars, RVs incorporate many features that have to be handled carefully to avoid damage when the washing is being done, e.g. ceiling HVAC systems.
  • Different types of surfaces : While most regular vehicles feature just one type of body surface (painted metal), RVs feature different types of body surfaces that have to be washed in different ways, using different products. The bodies of most RVs are made from metal, painted metal, or fiberglass, while their roofs may feature rubber or fiberglass materials.

How To Wash An RV Yourself

travel trailer wash near me

Washing an RV is more complicated than washing a car, truck, van, or SUV. You can’t just go out and start washing it like you would wash a regular vehicle - you need to have a strategy. You may even need to get someone (or several people) to help you, especially if your RV is a huge class A motorhome.

You’ll also need to get the right cleaning products for your rig. Consult your owner’s manual to see the kind of cleaning products the manufacturer recommends. Some RVs have decals that can be easily damaged by certain types of RV cleaning products. Painted metal surfaces can be washed using the same cleaning products that you would use on a car, while for fiberglass surfaces, it’s largely recommended that you use a cleaning product that both washes and waxes the surface.

Also worth noting is that you need a lot of water to wash an RV. It’s better to wash it in your own backyard or driveway, where you can give it all the water it needs to get clean without being reprimanded by anyone. The washing should also be done on a firm surface that can take your weight and that of a ladder.

Also, don’t start with the sides, as the runoff from the roof can cancel out your efforts as it flows down the sides. Always start with the roof.

NB: It’s possible to use a pressure washer to wash an RV, but unless you really know how to use it, you’re better off avoiding it. Pressurized water can cut through silicone seals, blow past gaskets, or pass between overlapping layers into the RV. It can even peel off decals if not handled with care.

Washing An RV: The Material List

  • Decon Soap + Wash Mitt
  • Mirror Shine - Get 15% off!
  • Plastic Restore
  • High-Gloss Tire Shine Spray
  • Two large buckets
  • Soft-bristle brushes with long or extendable handles
  • Hard-bristle, hand-held brushes for the wheels and tires
  • Garden hose with a sprayer (or pressure washer if you have one)

Step 1.) Wash The Roof

travel trailer wash near me

Torque Detail’s Decon Soap can be used to wash metal or fiberglass roof surfaces. If your RV’s roof is made from rubber material, check your owner’s manual to see which type of cleaning product it requires. Before climbing up onto the roof, fill one bucket (that we’ll call the soap bucket) with some water and then add an appropriate amount of Decon Soap (or the soap recommended for your roof) to the water (check the recommended mixing ratio on the side of the Decon Soap container). Fill another bucket with water (the rinse bucket). After that, grab your garden hose with its attached sprayer, your soft-bristle brush with a long/extendable handle, the rinse bucket, and the soap bucket, and climb onto the roof of your RV with the help of a sturdy, self-supporting step ladder.

Start by inspecting the vents and all other features that are mounted on your RV’s roof, checking to see whether the seals around those features are completely intact. If they’re still in good condition, you’re good to go. Spray water onto a portion of the roof to soften and wash off loose dirt, dip the soft-bristle brush into the soap bucket, and gently scrub that portion of the roof. Once you’re done, hose down that portion with plenty of water from the garden hose and rinse the long-handle brush in the rinse bucket. After that, proceed to the next portion of the roof and repeat the process.

It can get awfully slippery with all the soap and water on the roof, so make slow and well-calculated movements to avoid falling. You also need to put on shoes with non-slip soles.

Not all RV roofs are made the same. If the roof isn’t strong enough to bear your weight, you’ll have to do the washing from your ladder. Your long-handle brush will help you get to hard-to-reach places.

By the time you’re done with the roof, the soap bucket will probably be saturated with dirt. You’ll need to pour out that soapy water and get a fresh mix of soap and water before continuing - otherwise, you’ll end up transferring dirt from one surface to the next. As you continue washing the RV, keep changing the soap-to-water mixture every time you notice that the soap bucket has gotten saturated with dirt. You’ll probably need to do this several times before you finish the entire cleaning process.

Step 2.) Wash The Sides

travel trailer wash near me

For the sides, spray one side of your RV with plenty of water to soften the dirt and debris, then dip a soft sponge or wash mitt into the soapy water and use it to gently scrub that side of the RV. You may have to do this while perched on your ladder. For hard-to-reach areas, use the soft-bristle brush with the long handle. Once you’re done with that side, rinse it with plenty of water, move on to the other side, and follow the same procedure. Always work from the top downward.

Step 3.) Clean The Awnings

travel trailer wash near me

Most awnings are made from vinyl or fabric materials, so you need to use the recommended cleaning products to wash them. When doing so, draw them out from where they’ve been stowed, wet them with some water, then gently scrub them with soap using a soft sponge or wash mitt. After that, rinse them with plenty of water from your garden hose and leave them stretched out to air-dry. Don’t stow them back until they’ve dried completely.

Step 4.) Wash The Wheels And Tires

travel trailer wash near me

You can also use Torque Detail’s Decon Soap to wash the wheels and tires of your RV. First, spray the wheel and tire with water to soften and dislodge some of the dirt. After that, dip a hard-bristle wheel brush or a wash mitt into your soap bucket and use it to scrub every square inch of the wheel and tire. Then, rinse the wheel and tire with plenty of water. To make the tires look even better, apply Torque Detail’s High-Gloss Tire Shine Spray, which brings out a deep, jet-black tire shine while also providing UV protection.

Step 5.) Dry Off The RV

travel trailer wash near me

You may have missed a few spots when washing the exterior of your RV, especially in the areas where you used the long-handle brush. The surface runoff from the roof may also have left white drip lines on the sides of the RV. To remove the above and get rid of any water spots , it’s best to do the drying of your RV by hand .

Damp microfiber towels have been proven to be more absorbent than dry microfiber towels, so dip your microfiber towels in clean water and wring them out to remove excess water. After that, wipe down all the sides of the RV, going section by section. When a microfiber towel gets saturated, get a fresh one and continue until you’ve dried off the entire RV.

Step 6.) Wax The RV

Torque Detail’s Mirror Shine is both a wax and a sealant. It has better protective qualities than the typical carnauba wax and is the best RV wax we can recommend. It brings out a deep, high-gloss shine while also applying a layer of protection to the RV’s surface. Applying Mirror Shine is easy - simply spray the product onto a section of the RV’s exterior, give it a minute to bond with the paint, and buff off any excess fluid using a clean microfiber towel. After that, move to another section of the RV and do the same. You can also use Mirror Shine on the windows and wheels of your RV.

Step 7.) Recondition The Rubber Seals And Gaskets

Special care must be given to the rubber seals and gaskets that surround the doors, windows, and sliding sections. These rubber surfaces can dry up when left unprotected for extended periods, leading to cracks and tears. Torque Detail’s Plastic Restore can help to restore those rubber gaskets and seals. This product permeates deep into the rubber and changes its molecular structure, bringing it back to its original state.

Some Tips To Remember When RV-Washing

Here are some of the things you need to keep in mind when washing your RV.

Wash And Wax On A Regular Basis

Just like regular cars, RVs leave the factory with a protective coating that helps to protect their surfaces from the elements and other contaminants. However, when continually exposed to the sun and elements without additional protection, this coat wears down quickly. Also, the longer you leave dirt and grime to collect on the surface of your RV, the quicker the protective coating wears down. When this protective coating wears off, your RV’s body is left vulnerable to water damage, rust, and oxidation, and you don’t want that! Washing and waxing your RV regularly will help to maintain that protective coating. The washing process gets rid of dirt and grime that may have burrowed into the coating, while the waxing replenishes the protective coating and leaves a high-gloss, long-lasting shine.

Waterless Detailers Are Great

Waterless detailers are worth considering, especially when you have a limited supply of water or are staying on camping grounds that don’t allow RV washing.

Torque Detail’s Turbo Waterless Detailer 5 Bottle Bundle is a fine example of a waterless detailer that you can use on your RV. It won’t dry out your RV’s protective coating and thanks to its anti-static properties, it repels dust and dirt. This waterless detailer is also infused with ceramic, so it leaves a high-gloss, hydrophobic, and long-lasting coating that helps to prevent scratches and UV ray damage.

When applying the Turbo Ceramic Waterless Detailer, just spray it on a section of your RV’s body and wait a few minutes for the detailer to encapsulate and lift the dirt from the surface. After that, use a clean, damp microfiber towel to wipe off the dirt and any excess detailer fluid from the surface. Finally, buff to a deep shine. If necessary, you can repeat this process to ensure you get all the dirt off the surface of the RV. After that, move to the next section of your RV’s exterior and repeat the process. Continue doing so until you’ve cleaned all the sides of the RV.

Don’t Wait To Clean Off Bug Guts

If it's going to be a while before you get to wash your RV, you shouldn’t wait to clean off the bug guts that have splattered across the front with the rest of the RV. Those bug guts are acidic, so they can eat into the RV’s protective coating. When you notice them on the RV’s front end, scrub them off using the recommended washing soap and a wash mitt.

Why Our RV'ing Customer's LOVE Mirror Shine

Jim t's mirror shine review.

travel trailer wash near me

" This is my Torque story and I'm sticking to it, even if it does sound like an ad.

We were work-camping in the Grand Tetons this past summer. Dust and pine sap get all over your camper and truck out there. I would have to scrub and wash the truck at least once a week just to keep the sap and dust off. much less the bugs, and I do mean giant bugs. I saw an ad for Torque and decided to try it. I bought two bottles of Ceramic Spray. I put two coats on the camper’s front and two coats over the entire truck, plus some extra on the front. The results were really great. Sap would no longer stick and I could just wipe it off with a paper towel in one swipe. The dust would fly off as I drove home from work each day. Bottom line, the camper and truck stayed clean the entire last month we were there. Nothing stuck to them. Our drive home was 2,341 miles and 6 days of stays in different campgrounds along the way. Everything stayed clean. When we got home, I just did a light pressure wash to clean off the bugs and all was shining again. The bugs didn’t have a chance to stick.

In full confession, I did use the entire two bottles of product, and a lot of it went on as extra coats on the places where I knew bugs and grime would hit the truck and camper worse. My idea worked and Torque worked like a charm.

I just did our truck again plus both cars in double coats of Torque Ceramic Spray after clay baring each. It's been a week and I just found bird droppings on the hood of my truck, which flew off after a few miles down the highway. This Torque stuff is really amazing. Water beads off all our vehicles and touching them feels like smooth glass. Torque is for real.

Notice in my picture the brake dust buildup from the 2,341 miles driving home. Wish they could come up with a way to clean and stop the brake dust buildup.

Ceramic Spray shone the big test. Product is amazing and was up for the challenge. Put one coat on, waited 24 hours, and put a second coat on. Then we hit the road for 10 days and 2,800 miles of highway bugs, rain, black streaks, and sunshine. On the tenth day, did a neutral pH-balanced wash and rinse. I believe the picture says it all. No special attention was given to the bugs or the black streaks. That was very impressive."

Summary - Everything You Need To Know When Washing Your RV

One key takeaway from the above guide is the fact that washing an RV is way more challenging than washing a car or truck. It takes time, so you’ll need to set aside a few hours to get it done right. Depending on the size and design of your RV, you may need to incorporate different washing techniques . Also, don’t forget that you’ll need to use the right (or recommended) products for the different materials of your RV, e.g. rubber and fiberglass - regular car wash soap or dishwashing soap just won’t do.

If possible, doing a waterless wash will save you a lot of time and resources, and will also be cheaper. Other takeaways are that you must wash your RV regularly, and that you need to do so using high-quality washing and detailing equipment.

Benefits of rv washes.

  • Protect from weather and damage. Along with cleaning the surface, an RV wash also leaves a protective coat. The film that sits on the surface after the application prevents damage from weather elements and keeps dirt, dust, and debris away. It also prevents scratches, paint chips, fading, and more.
  • Prolong RV lifespan. By keeping your RV clean at all times, you prolong its overall lifespan. A clean surface is more protected and resistant to damage, which means it will stay in top shape longer.
  • Reduce maintenance. An RV wash will also help you prolong the time between cleanups. By washing your vehicle regularly, you keep it in top condition and reduce the need for excessive, time-consuming cleanups. The maintenance becomes easier and saves you money in the long run.
  • Enhance vehicle appearance. Many RV washes contain conditioners and waxes that make the vehicle's surface shiny. By using them, you can achieve showroom results and show off with a sparkling-clean RV during your camping adventures.

Types of RV Washes

Spray-on washes are the easiest to apply. They come in convenient bottles with spray nozzles that quickly spread the liquid onto the surface. You can spray with one hand and wipe the product clean with the other by using microfiber towels or pads.

The downside to this RV wash type is the cost. Spray-on washes usually come in compact bottles that are convenient for passenger cars but too small for large RV surfaces. Therefore, while you may want to keep a spray-on wash for spot cleaning, you might need several bottles to wash the entire RV.

This type makes the most versatile option for cleaning RVs. Liquid washes come in large 32-ounce or 1-gallon bottles, and you often get to choose the size according to your needs. They can be applied by hand or a power tool, which makes cleaning very easy.

Typically, one bottle of liquid RV wash lasts for several applications on most vehicles. However, those who have big vehicles and travel frequently might want to consider getting a large bottle just in case.

Pastes are those RV washes that have waxes, usually carnauba. They clean and maintain the surface efficiently, leaving a thick film for more protection over time. They’re an excellent choice for those who want to achieve shiny results.

However, pastes are sometimes challenging to apply and wipe clean. Most RVers opt for spray-on or liquid washes that contain waxes instead of getting real pastes for cleaning their vehicles. Still, some people like to use them occasionally for enhancing the vehicle's look.

Chemical Guys

Chemical Guys is a company that specializes in car-care chemicals, washing accessories, tools, and more. It was founded in 1968 and is based in Southern California. With a long tradition of top-notch automotive products, Chemical Guys remains one of the first choices among drivers. The Chemical Guys Citrus Wash & Gloss is one of the company's most purchased and best-rated cleaning products.

TR Industries

TR Industries was founded in the 1970s as a division of Granitize Products Inc. It's a family-owned company located in South Gate, Calif. We find it highly popular among drivers who need reliable products for cleaning, protecting, polishing, and waxing their vehicles.  The Gel-Gloss RV Wash & Wax is one of those products that allows for a cost-efficient and effective vehicle cleaning.

Meguiar's was founded in 1901 and is located in Irvine, Calif. Being on the market for more than 100 years with high-quality and affordable products, the company gained a special place in the automotive industry. Meguiar’s Marine/RV One Step Cleaner Wax is one of its products that makes an excellent choice for RVers.

RV Washes Pricing

  • Under $20: The most inexpensive washes come in small spray-on and liquid bottles. They’re efficient and durable, but in most cases not large enough for cleaning RVs thoroughly. For spot cleaning or detailing, RV washes at this price point are hard to beat.
  • $20 and up: For a couple more bucks, you can get large cleaner bottles or kits with washes, conditioners, and waxes. Some of them even come with cleaning pads and towels. For the higher price, you get everything you need to wash your RV and make it shiny for the long term.

Key Features

Versatility.

First and foremost, it's crucial to determine the RV wash’s compatibility with the vehicle's surface. Not all of them are suitable for all material types, so it's important to choose carefully to avoid accidental damage.

Some RV washes have versatile formulas that work on plastic, glass, metals, and more. These are great for a thorough cleanup of the entire RV, and they make a smart investment. Therefore, consider whether you prefer getting an all-purpose cleaner or several different products for washing and maintaining your vehicle.

Another important thing to consider is the protection an RV wash offers. Those who travel several times a year might want to get a product that provides strong weather protection. If you travel during summer, you want to get a wash that repels UV rays.

On the other hand, winter demands a conditioner that will protect the surface from low temperatures, water, snow, ice, and more. Some products offer protection from all possible weather threats, but they’re usually more expensive.

RV washes are highly popular because they not only wash the surface, but also keep it clean for a long time. They’re known to create a protective coat that repels dirt, dust, and debris from the vehicle. However, the longevity of the protective film differentiates from one product to another. Some will last longer than others, which is why it's essential to consider each product's durability before buying.

Abrasiveness

An RV wash should be free from chemicals and abrasives that could damage the surface. Toxic formulas might scratch or dent the paint as well as cause corrosion and premature aging. Look for nontoxic products with high scores in scratching and hazing tests.

We also recommend getting washes with biodegradable and environmentally friendly formulas because they’re safer for the planet. Moreover, after the purchase, make sure to test the product on a small area before applying it to the entire surface.

Other Considerations

  • Application. The ease of application shouldn't be neglected, either. Not all RV washes are easy to spread and wipe clean; some of them require quite a bit of elbow grease. Before buying, consider whether you want a spray-on, liquid, or paste wash. There are even waterless products you can use for when a water source is not nearby.
  • Tools and Accessories. For efficient and thorough surface cleaning, it's important to get accessories such as pads, brushes, and fiberglass towels. All of these work wonders on RVs and make washing surfaces simple. If you have a large RV and travel frequently, you might want to consider getting a powerful tool like a pressure washer.

Best RV Washes Reviews & Recommendations 2020

Best Overall

Chemical Guys Citrus Wash & Gloss

The top pick on our list is an RV wash from famous Chemical Guys. It's a citrus-based product that features a natural and biodegradable formula. Designed to break and dissolve road dirt, grime, and debris in a few simple steps, the Chemical Guys wash is great for cars, motorcycles, RVs, boats, and more.

Thanks to the slick and highly concentrated formula, this product will last for several applications, even when used on large RVs. The best thing about the cleaner is an efficient formula that foams and rinses off nicely, preventing damage to the vehicle's paint. There are no scratches or residues after the application, and the wash is safe for the planet too. On top of that, one cap mixes with 5 gallons of water, which means you'll be using the product for quite a while.

The only downside to the highly concentrated formula is its tendency to separate in the bottle. If you leave the product unused for a while, make sure to shake it well before the next application. Another thing to keep in mind is that it takes some time and elbow grease to remove tough stains with this wash. The product sometimes even leaves a yellow residue.

Gel-Gloss RV Wash & Wax

We recommend Gel-Gloss RV Wash and Wax for cleaning, maintaining, and protecting your RV on a tight budget. The product is hard to beat for the price—it gets rid of dirt and deposits in a breeze and makes the surface shiny. It's also easy to apply and comes in large 32-ounce and 1-gallon bottles for user convenience.

The ingredient that makes this wash so special is carnauba wax—something that keeps the RV clean longer, along with enhancing its appearance and protecting it from damage. The Gel-Gloss formula is non-abrasive and safe for different surfaces. It cleans and lubricates at the same time without removing previously applied waxes.

The product may not be strong enough for tough stains, though. If you need a powerful wash for removing persistent residues and buildups, we recommend checking other options on our list. Gel-Gloss Wash and Wax is also known to leave streaks on the glass and pink spots on white paint. It’s essential to wipe the surface clean right after the application to prevent this from happening.

Honorable Mention

Meguiar’s Marine/RV One-Step Cleaner Wax

Meguiar's offers one of those all-purpose cleaners that works wonders on a wide range of surfaces. The product is ideal for RVs and boats because it protects against corrosion, acid rain, salt, and UV rays. Along with weather protection, Meguiar's delivers excellent cleaning results, whether you're cleaning heavy dirt and grime or light road debris.

The Meguiar's cleaner is a one-step product that applies, spreads, and wipes off the surface in a few simple motions. After the application, the product leaves a protective coat and makes the surface smooth and shiny. It's also able to remove minor swirls, scratches, and oxidation. All in all, the Meguiar's cleaner offers unmatched protection and long-lasting cleaning results.

One of the things users don't like about it, however, is the strong chemical smell. If you have to work with it indoors, make sure to keep the area well-ventilated. We also recommend using the product for cleaning only certain parts of your RV because the bottle is too small for large vehicles. Another thing to keep in mind is that the liquid sometimes leaves residues on warm surfaces.

Chemical Guys Mr. Pink Car Wash Soap and Shampoo

Chemical Guys Mr. Pink Car Wash Soap and Shampoo

Mr. Pink is an excellent choice for weekly vehicle cleaning and maintenance. It’s ideal for those who travel frequently and often drive through rough roads and terrains with their RVs. Thanks to the powerful formula, Mr. Pink ensures quick and effortless cleaning no matter where you are.

Mr. Pink is labeled as a car wash, but it can be used for motorcycles, RVs, boats, and other vehicle types. The formula is pH neutral and safe for different surfaces. It provides a gentle wash and doesn't leave any scratches or residues while removing grime, dirt, debris, and other excessive buildups from the vehicle. Furthermore, the product leaves a slick and shiny protective coat and can be used under direct sunlight.

However, Mr. Pink doesn't always foam nicely. It may require high-power pressure washers because it often fails to make suds when used from the bucket by hand. Some buyers were also unsatisfied with the mild scent. It's not that noticeable and can fade away rather quickly.

Aero Cosmetics Car Wash Wax Kit

Aero Cosmetics Car Wash Wax Kit

The Aero Cosmetics Car Wash Wax Kit is one of the most popular all-purpose cleaners on the market. It's ideal for cleaning cars, motorcycles, RVs, and boats, and it performs well on all surfaces, from plastic to glass. For a few extra bucks, you get a kit with a spray-on bottle for detailing and spot cleaning, a large bottle for your RV, and four microfiber towels for easy cleanups.

The cleaner removes all kinds of dirt, from light debris to excessive buildups. It leaves a shiny film that protects the surface from harmful UV rays, water, and other weather elements. The coat also keeps the vehicle clean longer and prolongs the lifespan of the paintwork.

The water-based formula is free from chemicals and contaminants, and you can apply it to all kinds of surfaces and materials. On top of that, you can use this cleaner for waterless washes when a water source is not nearby.

Some users reported that the product works better on painted surfaces than on fiberglass. If you have a fiberglass RV roof to clean, we recommend getting an additional cleaner for that purpose. And although the wash applies and spreads on the surface quickly, it takes some time and effort to wipe it clean.

Karcher Car Wash & Wax Soap

Karcher Car Wash & Wax Soap

If you're looking for an inexpensive product to keep your RV clean and shiny, we recommend the Karcher car wash and wax. It's a budget-friendly product designed to be used with pressure washers. The liquid is highly concentrated, and it dilutes in water for ultimate cleaning results and impressive longevity.

A little of the liquid goes a long way, so you'll definitely be using the Karcher cleaner for a long time. The product dilutes easily and applies quickly when combined with a pressure washer. The gentle formula doesn't cause any scratches or leave any residues. It rinses off within a few moments and is biodegradable. You can use it on your RV’s roof, paintwork, windows, and all other parts.

Unfortunately, the Karcher car wash and wax is not perfect for resolving excessive dirt and heavy buildups. It's an inexpensive product mainly designed for removing light dirt and debris and keeping clean vehicles maintained. Some buyers also didn't love the strong scent that lingers.

TriNova Waterless Car Wash and Wax Kit

TriNova Waterless Car Wash and Wax Kit

TriNova offers a unique car wash and wax kit you can use for washing your car, motorcycle, RV, UTV, and more. The cleaner contains a safe formula that lubricates the surface and cleans and maintains it without scratching or damaging the paint in any way. It's also highly concentrated and meant to last for more than just a few applications.

Along with its excellent cleaning abilities, the TriNova wash provides strong protection against water and UV rays. The product restores the shine of the paintwork and prevents fading and chipping. All you need to do is dilute it in water according to the provided instructions, spread it on the surface, and wipe clean. The TriNova wash offers waterless cleanup for adventurers who are always on the go.

However, those who are looking for heavy-duty RV washes may be disappointed. This particular product is meant for light and quick detailing between thorough washes. It doesn't work well on excessive dirt and dust. The TriNova wash might also lack the ability to make the surface super shiny. For a glossy and long-lasting finish, you might need to buy another wax.

Turtle Wax Ice Car Wash

Turtle Wax Ice Car Wash

The Ice wash and wax is a powerful cleaner that resolves even the toughest dirt and most stubborn stains. It offers a synthetic blend that penetrates buildups and lifts harmful particles from the surface, making it sparkling clean after every application. Furthermore, the formula is safe to use on different surfaces and won't leave residues or scratches.

This wash dilutes in water and creates a rich foam to ensure quick and easy cleanups. After the application, you'll notice the liquid leaves a shiny coat that makes the paintwork pop out and protects it from damage. The pH-balanced formula is safe for all kinds of surfaces and the environment, and it protects the paint from weather and other road threats.

The Ice wash and wax comes in a small bottle that’s ideal for cars but not so much for RVs and other larger vehicles. You'll need to buy at least three washes to finish the entire cleanup, or use the product just for spot cleaning and detailing. Also, this wash may not leave a waxy finish, despite the statement in the product's description. You might need to apply another wax after using this cleaner.

All American Car Care Products Pink Wash & Wax Concentrate

All American Car Care Products Pink Wash & Wax Concentrate

The pink wash and wax is a liquid soap that ensures thorough and easy cleaning, even for super-large RVs. It features a pH-balanced formula that has a fruit scent and leaves a slick finish. Overall, the pink wash turns out to be super-efficient in resolving all kinds of dirt, and it lasts. With just a little of this liquid, you can wash the entire vehicle.

Buyers love this powerful cleaner because it fulfills one of the most important factors when choosing vehicle washes: It doesn't contain harmful chemicals. Therefore, you can use it on different surfaces without scratching or chipping them. We also like that the formula is biodegradable and safe for the environment. Additionally, the application is quite simple and doesn't require much effort.

When it comes to the shiny coating, some users feel this product doesn't have much to offer. If you wish to achieve showroom results and have a glossy finish, we recommend getting carnauba wax separately. You can always apply it after the cleanup. The pink wash isn't very efficient in repelling water, either.

Bio-Kleen Super Suds RV Wash

Bio-Kleen Super Suds RV Wash

Last but not least, the Bio-Kleen wash is specially designed for RVs and provides extraordinary cleaning results. It removes everything from dirt and grime to insects and bird droppings, leaving a clean and slick surface on your RV. Furthermore, the wash comes in a large bottle you can use for several applications.

The Bio-Kleen wash is ideal for cars, trucks, RVs, trailers, motorcycles, and other vehicle types. It features a safe and nontoxic formula suitable for different surface types and proves to be quite efficient. It spreads and wipes clean with ease and doesn't leave streaks, residues, or scratches.

One of the things that might bother you with this wash is that you'll have to add quite a bit of liquid to create rich suds. The wash doesn't foam as nicely as some of the other cleaners listed above. Also, we recommend getting wax for making the surface shinier after the cleanup. This wash may not create a very glossy finish.

  • Most RV wash agents leave a residue if applied on a warm or hot surface. To prevent this, you can wash your RV under shade or on a cloudy day and ensure that the surface is cool before applying the wash.
  • Do not use a hard-bristled scrubber or brush to apply the RV wash. Some harsh chemicals may remove the wax or the paintwork, and the scrubber may leave scratch marks on the body. Instead, use a cloth or a sponge to work the wash over the surface.
  • If you are using a pressure sprayer to rinse the wash, hold the nozzle at correct angles to avoid detaching or breaking the side mirrors and windows. Change the pressure setting to low when you get to those parts.
  • Consider using a ladder when cleaning the roof of the RV. You should have someone else around to hold the ladder for you and dry the steps as you come down. Get on all fours to avoid sliding off the roof.

Q: Can I use an RV wash to clean the interior?

A: Most RV washes can be used to clean insect residues, food stains, and other dirty surfaces in your vehicle’s interior. However, most of the cleaning agents have a strong smell that you may not want lingering in your vehicle’s interior. Do not use it to clean your upholstery. Check the instructions on the packaging to determine where you can use the product.

Q: Will RV wash remove car polish?

A: It depends on the chemical formulation of the product you choose. Avoid using products with harsh chemicals if you want to preserve your RV’s original wax coat. A safe bet would be an eco-friendly cleaner with no harmful chemicals that may strip off the polish. However, most eco-friendly products aren’t the best at removing tough stains.

Q: How often should I wash my RV?

A: Ideally, you should wash your RV with a high-quality RV wash and wax at least twice a year. If it’s a great product and you don’t use your vehicle often, your RV will look clean and glossy for most parts of the year. You can clean it more often if your RV is often exposed to dirt to keep it well protected from weather and road elements.

Final Thoughts

Our top pick is the Chemical Guys Citrus Wash & Gloss . It’s helpful when removing dirt from your RV and offers long-lasting protection from harsh road and weather elements.

The Gel-Gloss RV Wash & Wax is a budget-friendly RV wash that’s capable of maintaining the mint condition of your vehicle. It’s protective and adds a layer of UV-resistant carnauba wax.

Is it Worth Having a Washer and Dryer in Your Travel Trailer?

Is it Worth Having a Washer and Dryer in Your Travel Trailer

If you’re a frequent RVer, having a washer and dryer in your travel trailer can be a great convenience.

Not only will it save you time and money when doing laundry while on the road, but it can also help keep your clothes looking their best during long trips.

While there are some considerations to make before investing in this type of equipment, it’s worth considering as an option for your home away from home.

Foremost, you’ll need to ensure the washer and dryer will fit within the confines of your trailer.

If you don’t have the space, looking into alternative solutions, such as portable laundry machines, using campground laundromats, or finding a local one might be necessary.

It’s also important to consider the garments you’ll wash on your trip. Some washers and dryers handle only certain fabrics, so it’s best to read up on the models you’re looking at before making a purchase.

Finally, think about how often you’ll be doing laundry and how much water you’ll need. A large-capacity washer and dryer may not be necessary if you’re only planning to do a load of laundry now and then.

Ultimately, whether to invest in a washer and dryer for your travel trailer is up to you.

Here are some pros and cons to consider before deciding if it’s worthwhile for your RV life:

  • Having a washer and dryer in your travel trailer means never having to leave home searching for a laundromat or suffering through weeks of dirty laundry.
  • You can save money by avoiding costly detergents at laundromats; instead, investing in bulk detergents that can last up to several months.
  • You won’t have to lug heavy bags of clothes around, saving time and energy.
  • Some models provide additional features such as spin cycles which reduce drying times, saving even more time.
  • A washer and dryer can be expensive, initially and in the future, with possible maintenance costs involved.
  • Installing a washer and dryer in your travel trailer takes up valuable space you could use for storage.
  • You must consider special plumbing considerations when setting up these appliances since they require access to water sources.
  • Power surges or lightning strikes can quickly damage an RV’s delicate electrical system without careful maintenance, resulting in costly repairs or replacements.

What Is the Smallest Travel Trailer with a Washer and Dryer?

What Is the Smallest Travel Trailer with a Washer and Dryer

The New 2023 Highland Ridge RV Open Range Light 275RLS , at a mere 34 feet in length, has a washer and dryer prep in the bedroom. It’s rare to find a travel trailer with a washer and dryer under 35 feet.

What Type of Washer and Dryer Can Fit in a Travel Trailer?

What Type of Washer and Dryer Can Fit in a Travel Trailer

Size is one of the most important factors when choosing a washer and dryer for your travel trailer.

Full-size laundry units are unsuitable for most campers, as they take up too much room.

Instead, look for stackable or portable models that fit into smaller spaces. Most RV dealers can advise you on the size units best suited for your particular trailer model.

Here are a few examples of washer and dryer units that can fit in a travel trailer.

1. Traditional Side-by-Side

What Type of Washer and Dryer Can Fit in a Travel Trailer Traditional Side by Side

While traditional side-by-side washer and dryer units can be bulky for mobile dwellings, they are ideal for those who don’t want to do multiple batches of laundry.

Plus, with a larger capacity, even the busiest of families can complete several loads in one go.

Yes, you may have to sacrifice floor space in your RV, but if you can clear a mountain of laundry quickly, it may be worth it.

2. Stackable

What Type of Washer and Dryer Can Fit in a Travel Trailer Stackable

Stackable washer and dryer units for travel trailers are a must-have for any RV lover looking for an efficient, space-saving way to wash their light loads.

These cleverly designed appliances come in a stackable form allowing users to economize on floor space, much like living in a chic studio apartment.

As if their modern design wasn’t enough, stackables are impressively energy efficient, designed with portability and convenience in mind.

The only tough decision you’ll need to make before purchasing a stackable washer and dryer unit is whether you will use electricity or propane to power the machines.

3. Combo

What Type of Washer and Dryer Can Fit in a Travel Trailer Combo

Who wouldn’t want the convenience of a washer and dryer in one compact unit?

That’s what combo washer and dryer units for travel trailers offer—a space-saving solution with ample efficiency that’s ideally suited for small living spaces.

Not only do these units save floor space, but they also typically require minimal energy to operate.

With their easy-to-use design, RVers love how convenient it is to have everything they need to keep their clothes clean in one place.

4. Portable

What Type of Washer and Dryer Can Fit in a Travel Trailer Portable

Portable washers and dryers are game changers for RVers who want to avoid hauling large appliances that add weight and bulk to their travels.

Not only do these units provide convenience, but there is a wide range of sizes, so even the tiniest RV spaces can accommodate them.

Portables come with various options, such as multi-stage drying systems, eco-friendly auto-sensing programs, and steam cycles that help reduce wrinkles and refresh clothes.

They are also incredibly energy efficient, using only a fraction of the electricity required by traditional washers and dryers. And many portable models allow for water conservation by using a “rinse and spin” cycle.

How Do You Power a Washer and Dryer in a Travel Trailer?

How Do You Power a Washer and Dryer in a Travel Trailer

There are several ways to power a washer and dryer in a travel trailer, depending on the electrical systems in the trailer and the type of appliances you use.

  • Hooking up to shore power: If you have access to a power source while camping, such as an RV park with electrical hookups, you can connect your travel trailer to shore power to run the washer and dryer.
  • Generator: If you don’t have access to shore power, you can use a portable generator to power your appliances.
  • Inverter: An inverter can convert the power from the battery in your travel trailer to the AC power required by the washer and dryer. However, this method may only be suitable for running the appliances for a short period as it can drain your battery quickly.
  • Solar panels: You can use solar panels to generate power stored in the travel trailer battery.
  • Propane: Propane-powered appliances are becoming increasingly popular in travel trailers, as they are energy efficient and easy to use.

It’s essential to note the electrical requirements of washers and dryers can differ, so be sure to consult the manual or manufacturer for the specific needs of your appliances.

Do You Need to Vent Your Camper Washer and Dryer?

Do You Need to Vent Your Camper Washer and Dryer

Vented dryers require an exhaust vent installed on your RV’s outside wall or roof so that the hot air produced during the drying cycle can escape.

Non-vented dryers, also known as condensation dryers, don’t require an exhaust vent as they use a built-in condensation system to remove the hot air created during the drying cycle.

Before installing your RV washer and dryer, double-check the manufacturer’s instructions for specific venting requirements.

Do Travel Trailers Come with Hookups or a Pre-installed Washer and Dryer?

Whether a travel trailer comes with hookups for a washer and dryer or a pre-installed unit depends on the specific model and manufacturer.

Some high-end travel trailers may come with a pre-installed washer and dryer, but it’s rare.

More often, travel trailers come with hookups for a washer and dryer but without the actual appliances. That way, you can choose the brand, type, and size of your washer and dryer to fit your needs.

Can You Use a Residential Washer and Dryer?

Can You Use a Residential Washer and Dryer

Yes, it is possible to use a residential washer and dryer in an RV. However, there are a few factors to consider when choosing appliances for an RV, as the electrical and plumbing systems in an RV differ from those in a residential home.

For example, the voltage of an RV is typically lower than that of a home, so you must choose washers and dryers compatible with your electrical system.

How Do You Do Laundry in an RV without a Washer and Dryer?

How Do You Do Laundry in an RV without a Washer and Dryer

Doing laundry in an RV without a washer and dryer can be challenging. However, there are several options for cleaning your clothes without bulky appliances.

  • Laundromat: One of the most common methods people use when they don’t have a washer and dryer is visiting a laundromat, whether at the campground or in town.
  • Hand Washing: Hand washing is an option for small loads of laundry. You can use a basin or sink to wash the clothes and hang them to dry. Hand washing is a good option if you’re traveling in a remote area with no laundry facilities.
  • Campground shower facilities: Some campgrounds have shower facilities for washing clothes. Bring a bucket into the shower, fill it with soap and water, and use it to wash your clothes.

Dry time will vary depending on temperature, humidity, the drying agent used, and the degree of soiling.

To prolong the life of your Gel-Gloss application, we recommend using one application every six months or less if used in cooler climates. Available in 16 oz., 1-gallon & 5-gallon sizes. Just remember not to get it near the dashboard or windows.

Turtle Wax Ice RV Wash is an excellent option for RVs because it’s specifically designed for plastic. This high-quality RV wash is also low sudsing, biodegradable, and leaves behind a streak-free finish. Plus, with an economical price tag of $4.99 per bottle , you’ll be able to use this RV wash on your entire rig without breaking the bank!

This RV wash and wax smells amazing too! This smell will last for weeks after washing your rig. • The washer is effortless to remove from your vehicle.
  • Effortless to use.
  • The thickness of the detergent is quite good.
  • It has an excellent sheerness level.
  • It might leave spots on the glass window.

Chemical Guys Citrus Wash & Gloss

travel trailer wash near me

Chemical Guys Citrus Wash & Gloss is not as strong as some other products on this list, but it’s a tremendous all-around wash that can do your car and RV without any problems. The pH level is also pretty neutral, so you don’t have to worry about stripping off any wax or paint protection while using it.

If you’re looking for something more substantial and want more shine, we recommend going with something like Blackfire Wet Diamond dry sealant. But if you want an all-inclusive product that will help clean the dirt away, then Chemical Guys Citrus Wash & Gloss will work out just fine for what you need.

And finally, this cleaner might be what you’re looking for when trying to remove grease from your vehicle’s windows. All you need to do is spray the cleaner onto your windshield, rinse it with a hose and dry it off with towels.

  • It has a delightful scent.
  • The product is quite versatile, and you can use it for various purposes.
  • It comes with great packaging.
  • The products thickness is good enough.
  • It might sometimes leave a white residue behind.

How to Choose the Best Wash and Waxes For RV?

Best-RV-wash-and-Wax-1

Choosing the best wash and waxes for RV is a daunting task, but you need to choose the most suitable product based on the following factors.

Abrasiveness

Have a complete look over the RV wash and wax abrasiveness when you plan on purchasing it. If you buy a too-abrasive product, you might end up with scratches over the RV finish.

The best way to evaluate RV wash and wax’s abrasiveness is by researching the hazing or scratching test. The score should be on the high end so that it has less abrasiveness.

Durability is another crucial factor that you need to consider while buying RV wash and wax. Choose the product which offers long-lasting effects compared to the others which need constant reapplication.

The RV wax and wash’s long-lasting ability shows how many times you need to reapply the product within a year. If you see a product in the market which comes with less information regarding the duration of protection coverage, you should be altered to buy that product.

Versatility

When buying the RV wash and wax, choose the quite versatile product and work well overall surfaces and different vehicles.

If you end up buying such products, you will end up saving a lot of money. You don’t need to purchase different cleaners for all vehicles, whether you have a bike, truck, car, or motorcycle.

Environmentally Friendly

This is the incredible thing that you need to consider while buying the RV wash and wax. Choose a product that comes with environmentally friendly ingredients.

The RV wash and wax should not have ingredients like fillers, extenders, or any harmful substances. Choose the products which are labeled biodegradable as you might spill some.

Convenience

It’s easy enough to go out and buy a car wash kit or just go with a soap that you have on hand. But if you want something that will give you peace of mind, then you should consider using a convenient wash and waxes for RV. They’re designed for automotive surfaces, making them perfect for any vehicle, including RVs. If you’re still unsure what kind of product is right for you, here are a few tips on choosing the best convenient wash and waxes for an RV.

1) Only use products that are made for vehicles.

2) Read reviews from other users to get more details about how well the product works before buying it.

3) Look at the ingredients list to see if they include any items that could damage your paint or bodywork.

4) Be wary of cheap brands since they may contain harsh chemicals that could strip away the protective coating on your vehicle.

5) Stick to tried-and-true brands such as Turtle Wax, and Mothers, who have been in business for many years. Always do their research before introducing a new product line.

6) Be aware of your budget since options are available for every price point depending on how much you plan to spend and whether you plan on doing this.

UV Protection is a must-have if you want to keep your RV looking newer for longer. With so many options, it can be challenging to choose the best UV protection. But with these some tips, you’ll be able to make a more thoughtful decision about what wash and wax products are best for you against UV rays.

Ability to offer protection to your RV’s custom graphics

To protect your vehicle’s custom graphics, use a product designed specifically for that purpose. Some wash-and-wax products offer protection against UV radiation. It will keep the graphics on your RV looking bright and new. If you’re looking to get some of those spots out of those vinyl graphics, you’ll want to use an exterior wash such as Meguiar’s Gold Class Wipe-On Wax.

These products are designed to safely remove tough dirt and grime from exterior surfaces without damaging them. The sealant can apply in less than five minutes by hand or machine, depending on the desired application thickness, and depth of shine for today’s modern waxes.

While most consumers don’t give too much thought to what they put on their car, it is crucial to consider these factors when choosing a wash and wax product for your RV.

A quality car care system will not only enhance the appearance of your vehicle but also prolong its life with proper maintenance.

An excellent way to maintain your car’s pristine condition is to have a professional detail service come over once or twice per year. Like other vehicles, preventative maintenance is vital to save money on costly repairs down the road.

Washing and Waxing Your Recreational Vehicle (RV): A Comprehensive Process in Different Steps

best wash and wax for rv

If you own an RV, you know that it takes more than just regular car washing and waxing to keep your rig good and running well. Luckily, there are unique products and techniques. You can use them to clean your vehicle and protect its surface from the elements so that it looks as good on the inside as it does on the outside. Below are different steps to wash and wax your recreational vehicle (RV) to keep your home on wheels looking great all year.

Step 1: Check Tire Pressure Washer

Before washing, it’s essential to check your tire pressure and ensure your tires are properly inflated. If they need air, take care of that first. You can use a tire gauge to measure the air in each tire. You want all the tires to have roughly the same amount of air inside them so that the weight is even across all four tires, which is crucial for safe driving.

If you’re unsure about the correct tire pressure, consult your vehicle owner’s manual or ask a qualified service technician. For example, if one of your tires has less than 25% air left in it and the others have over 25% air left in them, this will be considered under-inflated. The best way to tell if a tire has low enough pressure is by touching it with one hand and pressing it with another.

Step 2: Prepare Your RV

Take the below steps to prepare your RV for washing and waxing:

  • Put your RV in storage mode. This means you should close all the windows, turn off all the appliances, and ensure no food or water is inside.
  • Sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda on the floor to neutralize odors. If you have a gas stove or propane heater, ensure they are turned off. You should also be disconnected from your RV’s power source before storing it for an extended period.
  • To wash the outside of your RV, use a hose with soap that won’t damage the paint job.
  • Rinse the entire exterior with clean water until it is free from soap residue.
  • To wax your RV, use a high-quality carnauba wax or synthetic sealant. It will last longer and provide more protection than waxes made from petroleum products.

Step 3: Complete Process

You can complete this process of washing and waxing an RV by the below steps:

  • Scrub the tires with a brush or a sturdy sponge.
  • Dirt, sand, and other particles can get stuck in the treads of your tires and scratch your RV’s paint as you drive. Scrubbing them off will help prevent this from happening.
  • Clean the roof with a high-pressure hose to remove dirt, dust, bird droppings, tree sap, and other debris accumulating on your RV between washes.
  • Spray down the side panels of your RV, front and rear bumpers, and wheel wells using the same mixture above.
  • Rinse everything off until it runs clear, then dry it off entirely with towels or a chamois cloth for the best results.
  • Avoid drying items while they’re still wet because moisture could be trapped underneath and cause mildew to form.
  • Wash the windows, headlights, taillights, grills, and exhaust system with a gentle cleaner like Bon Ami or Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. This will give these surfaces a nice sheen without scratching or etching.
  • The next step is inside! Vacuum the interior carpet, upholstery, headliner, dashboard, trunk mat, and floor mats before starting to wash.
  • Remove any crumbs or spills by vacuuming or wiping with a damp cloth.
  • Wash the interior walls and ceiling with a scrubber or soft brush if necessary.

Types of RV Wash and Waxes

best wash and wax for rv

If you have an RV, you know the value of protecting it from the elements. If you’re using your RV regularly, washing it regularly should be at the top of your to-do list. Of course, if you’re not using your vehicle that often, doing a wash and wax every few months might be enough. Either way, there are different types of RV wash and waxes to choose from that will offer varying levels of protection depending on the frequency at which you use your camper van or motor home.

Spray-on Wash and Wax

Spray-on wash and wax is the most popular type, but it’s not always the best option. For example, if you have a large or older vehicle with faded paint, applying spray-on wash and wax can make your paint look dull. If you need more protection for your vehicle, opt for a liquid wash and wax instead. Liquid washes give more shine and protection. Liquid soap will also help to remove dirt from your vehicle’s surface. It also gives it a fresh-from-the-carwash feeling!

In addition, it’ll do wonders in removing any residual oils on your paint job caused by everyday driving conditions. Opting for a good quality soap may be expensive, but it’ll be worth every penny when you see the results on your vehicle! With this type of wash and wax, you don’t want to use anything other than water. All in all, no detergent or dishwashing liquids are needed because they will strip away the coating on top of your paint job.

Liquids Wash and Wax Products

There are a variety of different liquids that you can use on your RV. It is important to know that what type you need before purchasing is essential because not all liquids will work for all jobs. Some people like using soap and water, others prefer liquid wax, while some prefer spray wax. There are also cleaners, protectants, polishes, and sealants to choose from. The decision comes down to personal preference based on the environment where the vehicle is stored and used.

Also, depending on how often the vehicle will be exposed to weather extremes such as rain or snowfall. If it is left outside in these conditions more than occasionally, heavier protection may be needed. You should consult the owner’s manual or contact the dealer when unsure which product is right for you. However, products with a high-gloss finish will likely have lower UV resistance and need frequent touch-ups.

Conversely, products with less gloss (usual will resist sun damage better but require a lot more time and effort for application. For example, if you apply liquefied wax once every year or two months, liquid might suffice for your needs.

Pastes Wash and Wax

Washing your car doesn’t have to be an all-day affair, nor is it difficult and time-consuming. Instead, you can use Pastes Wash & Wax to clean your car and make it look new again quickly. This simple paste is specially formulated for today’s vehicles. It eliminates the need to scrub at your car’s or truck’s surface and causing damage that makes cleaning the car harder in the long run! In just five minutes per week, you can use Pastes Wash & Wax to protect from UV rays while you enjoy a shine that lasts.

Eco Friendly

Washing your RV with eco-friendly products is a great way to protect your investment. Eco-friendly products are gentler on the environment, making them safer for the planet. Eco-friendly cleaners provide added protection against rust. It can be a problem if you’re not careful with your regular wash routine.

One of the best eco-friendly cleaners for RVs is soapnuts. These small brown nuts contain saponin. Saponin is an organic compound with natural cleaning properties when activated in water. To activate the saponin, you must boil four or five soapnuts per gallon of water. The lather will easily clean away dirt and grime without chemicals.

When rinsing off the soapnut lather, use fresh water instead of detergent. Be sure to add one cup of vinegar per quart of rinse water to remove soap residues and bring out the shine after washing your RV!

Biodegradable Ingredients RV washes and Waxes

RV wash and wax products come in various formulas that use biodegradable ingredients. You should always read the label on the product you are considering using to ensure that it is a safe, non-toxic formula for your vehicle. Always be mindful of any citrus or other oils. This is because these can damage plastics, rubber, vinyl, and other surfaces that could be located on or near the body of your vehicle.

Be sure to keep some air freshener around because all types of soap will leave an unpleasant odor as they dry. A mild odiferous cleaner can help if you are without any air freshener. Use sparingly so that the smell does not become too strong.

One way to tell when your RV needs more than just a wash and wax is by looking at dirt streaks, hard water spots, or stains from unknown substances. It may also need more attention if it has been sitting idle for an extended period and no longer feels slippery when rubbed across its surface.

Do RV Wash and Waxes Work on All Surfaces?

It all varies on the product you purchase. Most of the time, such products are perfect for specific surfaces. Make sure to read the product description while you buy the RV wash and waxes.

How Often Do You Need to Wash Your RV With an RV Wash and Wax?

If you plan on maintaining the glorious shine of your RV, then wash it regularly and use the RV wash and wax. According to the experts, it’s best to wash an RV after every six months or twice yearly based on your purchase.

Clean your RV regularly as the dirt and all grime buildup over the RV, so you need to perform a thorough cleaning. You don’t need to stick to the six-month cleaning; if the RV is dirty, you need to maintain a perfect shiny finish.

Not only dirt, but RV’s are also prone to issues such as UV rays, tree sap, insects, road grime, acid rain, and bird droppings.

You might end up with massive damage if you leave RV untreated, such as discoloration, corrosion, staining, and chemical spotting. Using a top-notch quality RV wash and wax can simply help in getting rid of such issues.

What Are Some Other Tips for Washing Your RV Exteriors?

  • Other tips for washing RV exterior includes the following:
  • Park the RV safely away from direct exposure to sunlight as UV rays can damage the RV.
  • Spray some water on the RV exterior with the hose. This helps in getting rid of dust.
  • Then use a sponge or other preferred tool for washing the RV exterior.
  • Use the right amount of RV wash and wax.
  • Once you are done cleaning, rinse thoroughly and wipe using a dry cloth.
  • Avoid using high water pressure and hot water over the RV exterior.
  • Use the sprayer nozzle from a distance of a foot and a half.
  • If you are cleaning RV metallic parts, it’s best to use RV wash and wax with a low abrasive level.
  • Avoid using the wrong products as they can cause corrosion or rust.

Can You Use Car Wash and Wax on an RV?

You can use a car wash and wax on an RV if you have a painted one. However, if the RV parts are made from fiberglass or come with a gel coating, you need to use a special type of RV wax and wash.

If you don’t use the right wax and wash, it can lead to oxidation which can cause dullness or a chalky effect over fiberglass.

Car wash and wax on an RV leaves a perfect protective layer that prevents wear and tear plus weather effects. The wax prevents sun damage, dirt, and water.

If you are planning to purchase an RV dryer , you may be wondering if a vented or non-vented model is right for you. Each type of dryer has its own advantages and disadvantages that you should consider before making a purchase.

Advantages of Non-Vented RV Dryers : One of the main advantages of using a non-vented RV dryer is that they are much easier to install than its vented counterparts. Non-vented dryers do not require any special ductwork or installation, so they can be up and running in no time. If you are short on time or don’t want to deal with the hassle of installation, a non-vented dryer is a great option.

Another advantage of non-vented RV dryers is that they are more energy-efficient than vented models. Vented dryers need to expel the hot air that they generate, which can waste a lot of energy. Non-vented dryers, on the other hand, don’t need to expel this hot air, so they use less energy overall. If you are looking to save money on your camper energy, a non-vented dryer is a good choice.

travel trailer wash near me

When we think of washers and dryers, we imagine big machines and if that is the case, they would be hard to fit inside your travel trailer, right? Well, the big ones you’re thinking of are used for residential and commercial purposes. Washers and dryers can come in smaller sizes to fit your laundry needs while you’re on the vacation.

Yes, you don’t have to own a really big rig just to have a washer and a dryer! Even small travel trailers can provide them for you.

The smallest we’ve seen so far is the Keystone Montana High Country 295RL. This fifth wheel has a washer/dryer prewiring which will make it convenient for users to install their laundry bestfriends. This model comes with an exterior length of 34 ft, a width of 8 ft, and a height of 13 ft. It has a weight of 11,000 lbs.

Admittedly, it’s hard to find a travel trailer with washer and dryer . This is because they have to sacrifice other appliances and furniture to be able to provide adequate space and storage for their users.

But there are units out there that offer these laundry lifesavers or at least hookups for you to install them when you have already bought a washer and a dryer for your trailer.

Do travel trailers have washers and dryers?

Now that you’ve realized what a hassle doing laundry is when you’re out on vacation, we know your next question. How can you have a washer and dryer on in your travel trailer ?

There are RV with washer and dryer especially those big Class A and Class C units.

There are also some travel trailers that come with these laundry lifesavers. But most of the time, campers do not have a washer and dryer readily installed inside.

However, there are units that have hookups installed inside a wardrobe closet. Or you can ask to have hookups ready so that you can just install the units when you’ve already bought them.

This will give you the luxury and convenience of being able to clean your clothes while you’re just on your RV and still enjoy your precious vacation time. Think enjoying a cup of hot chocolate or roasting marshmallows while these machines are cleaning your dirty clothes.

Or if your travel trailer does not come with the machines or hookups, you can have it upgraded or retrofitted to accommodate your laundry needs.

There are various options nowadays. Talk to your RV contractor so that you can choose which one will fit your unit and budget.

What are the different types of washers and dryers for travel trailers?

Here’s what you need to know wWhen choosing a washer and dryer for your RV.

Washers and dryers for RVs come in 3 types. These are:

RV washer and dryer combo

  • Stackable washer or dryer for RVs

Portable RV washer and dryer

Each of these types come in 2 variations: vented and non-vented machines.

The vented washers and dryers use the air inside your travel trailer to be able to dry your clothes.

The non-vented units use the air inside the machines to be able to dry the clothes. This process would take a longer time and would need more electricity to be able to do the job.

Let’s discuss the pros and cons of each type.

This is an efficient appliance to have in your RV. You get to have a washer and a dryer in 1 single unit and best of all, everything is automatic. All you have to do is push of a button and you can just wait until its done. It is easy to use. It can also fit small RVs like Class B and fifth wheels and is available in both vented and non-vented models.

The cons of having an RV washer and dryer combo are you are limited to smaller loads of laundry and this isn’t energy and water efficient to use.

Stackable Washer or Dryer for RVs

These units are similar to the ones used at home. They can handle laundry loads of up to 12 lbs and you can wash and dry your clothes simultaneously. Drying your clothes is also faster which means less power consumption.

However, these machines are not available for small RVs like Class B. They also have higher water consumption. But if you expect to have a huge load of laundry while on the road and you have a big rig, then these are a good choice.

Portable units allow you to clean and dry your clothes as long as there is a sink and a drain. You do not even need to have electricity to use some models. Those RVs or trailers that don’t have hookups for washer and dryer can benefit from this option of having portable washer dryer. The good thing about these portable units is that they are affordable. They are also easy to store since they are compact. They don’t require too much water and you can finish washing your clothes in a short time.

The downside to having portable washer and dryers is that they are quite heavy. If you choose a manual model, then it would require you to exert some effort to get the job done. Some also say that the quality of the portable units are lower than other types of washers and dryers.

Again, it would depend on your unit and budget which among these types would fit your travel trainer so that you can enjoy the luxury and convenience of being able to do your laundry while you’re on the road.

Buyer’s Guide in Choosing the best washer and dryer for an RV

Buying a washer and dryer for your RV is similar to buying one for your own home. But here are certain factors you have to consider.

Size Matters

This time you have to be more mindful of the size and weight since you would be carrying it around in your rig wherever you go. Of course, it should fit inside your RV along with the other components inside.

Energy and Water Use

For these machines to function, they will take up power and energy. We all know that energy and water are valuable resources among RVers. Your battery should be able to handle the added energy consumption that it would take up. The water consumption should be efficient to maximize your tank’s water capacity.

Type of Washer and Dryer

As mentioned earlier, there are different kinds of washers and dryers for your RV. You should check which one is better suited for your laundry needs, budget, and space.

Laundry Load Capacity

If you’re traveling by yourself or as a couple, laundry load won’t be such a problem. But it’s different when you’re traveling as a family with kids or a large group.

Type of Set-up Needed

You have the option to choose between a vented or non-vented model. For vented models, there should be an opening in your RV to be able to let the air in as they will use the air inside your RV to be able to dry your clothes. The installation for non-vented models is a little more complicated and would need the services of a professional RV contractor.

So, when buying a washer and dryer for your RV , take note of the type, size, energy and water consumption, load capacity, and set-up needed to determine if they are compatible with your RV and your laundry needs.
