Best time to visit hungary.
July and August are the busiest months for tourists in Europe , outside of these times it tends to be less crowded. The Hungarian summer is warm, sunny and unusually long, but the tourist areas tend to get very crowded in late July and August, so some of the best months to visit are May, June and September. Hungary can be a little wet in May and June, but spring is just glorious. Autumn is beautiful, particularly in the hills around Budapest and in the Northern Uplands. Hungarian winters are typically cold and bleak, with museums and other tourist sights often closing.
Geography and environment
Located in Central Europe, landlocked Hungary shares borders with Slovakia , Ukraine , Romania , Serbia , Croatia , Slovenia and Austria . While most of Hungary is flat, there's some mountainous terrain to be found in the north and near the Austrian border. While Hungary has no coastline, the country is rich in rivers, brooks, lakes and hot springs, with the Danube and the Tisza flowing through, as well as other tributaries. Blessed with a vast amount of arable land, Hungary has an extensive agriculture/viticulture industry, with vineyards, orchards, farms and grazing livestock a common sight when traveling out of the city.
Top 5 classic castles of Hungary
1. vajdahunyad castle.
A blend of many different architectural styles, this urban castle located in Budapest showcases Gothic, Romanesque, Baroque and Renaissance features. Modeled on a Transylvanian castle, this unique building is now home to a museum dedicated to Hungarian agriculture, wine making and forestry.

3. Festetics Palace
This Baroque palace located in Zala County may technically not be a castle but definitely has all the opulence and grandeur of one. Built in the 18th century for the wealthy Festetics Family, this palace is now home to a coveted book collection (considered the greatest surviving aristocratic library in Hungary) as well as a museum and concert hall.
4. Castle of Eger
This ancient castle has survived invasions, explosions and the ravages of time to become one of Eger's most popular attractions. Surrounded by cobbled streets, the panoramic views from atop the fortress walls are splendid in clear weather.
5. Brunswick Castle
Built in 1775 for Count Antal Brunswick, this grand neo-gothic castle once played host to Beethoven. Now surrounded by a nature reserve and home to a museum, church and research institute, this impressive castle just outside of Budapest is well worth a day trip.

Budapest Tourism: Local Dishes to Try
Lángos are lovely things that Budapest tourism has to offer. With Budapest vacation packages, you must not miss trying out Lángos on your trip to Budapest, Hungary . It is the quintessential Hungarian street snack, consisting of flattened, deep-fried dough topped with savoury toppings such as sour cream and grated cheese or garlic butter, but sweet variants are also popular. Its flavorful toppings, crispy outside and soft chewy centre combine to produce a hefty (but tasty) snack.
Hungary's best known national dish, authentic Hungarian Goulash is more of a soup than a stew, and it is considerably different from the variants you will find outside the country. Tender pieces of meat, veggies and plenty of paprika are used in most variations, with csipetke included in some. It has a smokey, spicy-sweet flavour that is hearty and soothing. So, what are you waiting for? Choose from the Budapest tour packages and enjoy wonderful local dishes like goulash on lovely Budapest tours .
Paprikás Csirke
Another dish not to miss on your trip to Budapest, Hungary is Paprikás Csirke. This famous and flavourful meal has chicken cooked in a creamy paprika sauce, garnished with a dab of sour cream and presented with noodles or nokedli (Hungarian dumplings). Because the sauce is usually made with sweet paprika, it is a fantastic meal to try if you are not a big fan of spice.
Although goulash is a Hungarian soup, halaszle is a national favourite and justas delectable. A hot crimson soup produced from fish giblets, paprika, peppers and onions distinguishes it. It is peppery and flavourful, with ample quantities of melt-in-your-mouth freshwater fish fillets - generally carp, catfish, perch or pike. Serve it with a basket of sliced white bread and more paprika, in the shape of a spreadable spicy paste.

Budapest to Split Group Rail Tour (18-35)
I’ve had the best two weeks on the Eastern European/Balkans tour with David. From initially booking with the company, I had a great help from Richard. He answered all my questions and eased my nerves as it was my first time backpacking as well as staying in hostels. They have honestly been brilliant and I haven’t been nervous at all. I felt very welcomed into the group when I started my tour and have loved the freedom to explore different countries. David has been great with organising activities and making sure the group is happy as well as giving advice on places to visit in your free time. He’s also great at picking out bars! The places that I’ve been have been amazing. After this trip, I’m sure to book another one soon as I’ve had the best time ever!

What people love about europe tours from budapest.
The tour provided fabulous, fun & incredible memories. Plus new friendships with adorable people met.
Tao out tour guide & driver was excellent, very helpful and friendly; and extremely knowledgeable i the history of the Yugoslavian countries
Amazing tour!!!! The tour leader was one of the most fun leaders I have seen. She had so much energy and warmness. Many of the destinations on this tour were not the typical tourist type places, but that was refreshing. I especially enjoyed Sarajevo. In fact the whole tour was worth it because of this unexpected beautiful city. I would love to have spent more time there. Kotor was also especially beautiful! I highly recommend a hike to the mountains for a view over the town and a swim in the lake. If you decide to visit these countries I strongly recommend researching about the history before hand. A small group of people on the day trip in Sarajevo did not listen to the guide and missed out through not understanding the places visited. I felt bad for the guide as he did an amazing job to explain the difficult very recent history of the country. I read the book ‘The Cellist of Sarajevo’ before I visited, which helped add more context to my historical knowledge of the region.
