Press Release

Travel + leisure unveils its 2023 ‘it list,’ including three auberge resorts collection properties.

From Napa to Punta de Mita to the Hudson Valley, Auberge Resorts Collection’s three new properties have received recognition on the list of best new hotels in the world

MILL VALLEY, Calif. (May 3 , 2023) – Travel + Leisure today announced its eighteenth annual ‘It List,’ and honored all three eligible properties from the Auberge Resorts Collection portfolio for the second consecutive year. Stanly Ranch, Auberge Resorts Collection in Napa, California, Wildflower Farms, Auberge Resorts Collection in New York’s Hudson Valley and Susurros del Corazón Auberge Resorts Collection in Punta de Mita, Mexico, have been celebrated by the magazine’s prestigious list of the world’s best new and renovated hotels and resorts. Stanly Ranch, Auberge Resorts Collection opened in April 2022 as a bold new Napa experience with a one-of-a-kind wellness program. In September 2022, the highly anticipated Wildflower Farms, Auberge Resorts Collections ushered in a new-generation environmentally conscious, luxury retreat in the Hudson Valley, providing a world-class culinary experience centered around its working farm. Susurros del Corazón, Auberge Resorts Collection’s November 2022 opening, brought eyes to the beauty of Mexico’s untouched Pacific Coast with its offering of relaxed yet playful experiences that explore the locale’s culture and natural setting.

As three of only 100 properties recognized, Stanly Ranch, Auberge Resorts Collection, Wildflower Farms, Auberge Resorts Collection and Susurros del Corazón, Auberge Resorts Collection are showcased in the May 2023 issue of Travel + Leisure and online at travelandleisure.com . Determined annually by discerning magazine editors, the coveted ‘It List’ is a result of months of research on hundreds of new and renovated properties from around the world.

“Each year, Travel + Leisure ’s ‘It List’ honors the hard work, dedication and creativity that goes into opening a world-class hotel,” said Craig Reid, president and chief executive officer, Auberge Resorts Collection. “Today, we celebrate the teams at Stanly Ranch, Susurros del Corazón and Wildflower Farms who have made all three openings a huge success and who continue to uphold our gold standard in luxury and hospitality on a daily basis. We are incredibly grateful to them and the editors at Travel + Leisure for recognizing Auberge Resorts Collection on this prestigious list.”

Introducing a Bold New Napa Valley Experience

A new generation Napa resort, Stanly Ranch, Auberge Resorts Collection brings a bold, dynamic energy to northern California, creating an unrivaled destination and community. Set on 712 acres of rolling vineyards with breathtaking vistas of the Mayacamas Mountains, the resort reimagines the Napa experience in a multifaceted celebration of curiosity and exploration. Stanly Ranch, Auberge Resorts Collection features Halehouse, an Auberge spa offering a next-generation wellbeing destination that is dedicated to the achievement of personal wellness goals by helping guests to discover their full, untapped potential. The one-of-a-kind facility reimagines what wellness looks like with unique experiences that combine renowned practitioners and state-of-the-art technology. In addition, the property is home to three unique dining venues, including Bear, which pays homage to local farmers and makers. The property also allows guests to get a behind-the-scenes look at wine country with a unique range of thrilling adventures and immersive experiences.

A Nature Inspired Retreat in New York’s Hudson Valley

Fringed by fiery fall forests and a slow-rippling river, Wildflower Farms, Auberge Resorts Collection is a verdant escape in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, located just 90 minutes from New York City. Its expansive grounds encompass orchards, woodlands, a namesake farm, heirloom gardens and fields of native wildflowers that are meant to facilitate meaningful encounters with nature. Nestled within are 65 bespoke cabins, cottages and suites; seasonal wellness at Thistle, an Auberge Spa; three miles of onsite hiking trails; and unique experiences centered around nature. Bringing a new dimension to the Hudson Valley’s storied history of culinary influence, Wildflower Farms, Auberge Resorts Collection is home to exceptional dining destinations and on-site cooking school and farm education center, Maplehouse, with a diverse calendar of weekly events. At the resort’s signature restaurant, Clay , pasture-raised meats, free-range chicken and eggs, aromatic herbs and heritage fruits and vegetables come directly from the onsite six-acre farm or hand-picked farm partners and are prepared to perfection, each new dish a love letter to the Hudson Valley.

A Vibrant New Mexican Retreat on Punta de Mita’s Best Beach

A new, private beachfront escape nestled between the jungled cliffs of Mexico’s Pacific Coast welcomes guests to the most spectacular beach in Punta de Mita. Meaning ‘whispers of the heart,’ Susurros del Corazón, Auberge Resorts Collection is an oceanfront oasis that blends Mexico’s vibrant culture with the playful spirit of a luxurious, laid-back surf retreat. Located within reach and just north of Puerto Vallarta Airport, each of the resort’s 59 rooms and suites and 30 villas and residences offer indoor-outdoor spaces with private terraces and large, nature-framing windows. At the resort’s signature, farmhouse-inspired restaurant, Casamilpa, menus take their cue from the local Huichol people who originally practiced sustenance farming, while other tastes of authentic Mexican cuisine from land and sea are savored across its other eateries and epicurean experiences. Moments of quiet reflection and renewal will unfold in Onda, an Auberge Spa when it debuts later this year. There, 11 sea-facing treatment rooms and expert practitioners will invoke holistic healing with ocean-inspired body therapies using Undaria seaweed oil, heart-opening turquoise and cold wave stones. Overlooking the turquoise waters of Bahía de Banderas, the resort is a place that guests fall in love with and return to again and again, bringing together those who seek fun, relaxation and an exclusive Mexico escape.

A soaking tub in a modern bathroom rests just under a large window with a view of the Manhattan skyline

These are the best new hotels in the U.S., according to Travel + Leisure

Its annual listing of "It hotels" will have you drooling.

Erika Mailman

Sometimes you see an image of a hotel, and travel lust just fills your veins. That’s the case with these incredible destinations hand-picked annually by Travel + Leisure for its “It List of Best New Hotels.” The magazine has created the list each year since 2005 to inspire visitors and to get the word out about new properties travelers might not otherwise know about.

This year’s offering includes 100 hotels in 37 countries and across six continents (sorry, Antarctica), but the list is a little different this year because it is broken into categories rather than being a monolith of travel droolitude. The seven categories are affordable luxury, wellness getaways, beaches, luxury city hotels, U.S. resorts, nature and adventure, and “over the top.” The print edition is on newsstands April 21, but in the meantime, you can look at the online list which isn't broken down into categories. In this combined listing, two U.S. hotels are in the top 10 (and 34 are included in the full list: not too shabby!) Included are other hotels in North America, 32 in Europe, 13 in the Caribbean and Central and South America, 10 in Africa and the Middle East, eight in Asia, and two in Australia.

One U.S. hotel won bronze, and featured in the top three: that’s the Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad, which snagged the #3 spot for its 50-story Manhattan hotel with gorgeous views. The 250 rooms and suites at 28th and Broadway are kitted out with chandeliers and black terrazzo bathrooms. While the top 13 floors contain residences, guests can visit the lavish 1920s-inspired rooftop bar Nubelez on the 50th floor.

Wooden folding chairs are inside a canvas tent with wood floor, opening to a view of blue skies, pine trees and another tent.

Next, visitors experience a wildly different—spectacular in another way—view from Under Canvas Bryce Canyon in Utah, a glamping experience that comes in at #8. This luxury platform tent hotel is the latest location for the Under Canvas chain that focuses on glamping in or near national parks . It sits 14 miles from Bryce Canyon National Park on 700 acres for intense stargazing while nibbling on your s’more.

An aerial view of the hotel's balconies, overlooking pools, umbrellas, palm trees, and the ocean and its beach.

The third highest ranking U.S. hotel is the Four Seasons Hotel and Residences Fort Lauderdale in Florida, at #14. A 22-story tower on the white sand beach was designed to evoke a yacht with its glass-railed balconies. There are 189 rooms and suites to choose from, with lacquered wood paneling that continues the boating theme. The hotel even comes with a signature cocktail, paying fond homage to a local painter and arts patron.

After that, U.S. hotels dominate the 20s and the 90s on the list. Here are the remaining American hotels and their placement:

22. Four Seasons Hotel Nashville

23. Hotel Barrière Fouquet's New York

26. The Ned NoMad — New York

27. The Loren at Lady Bird Lake — Austin

How to Experience The Most Anticipated Hotel Opening of the Year

The newbury makes travel + leisure’s 2021 new hotel it list..

July 12, 2021

Newbury Hotel Debut Offer, Boston hotel deals, Back Bay Hotel Room

The Newbury ushered in a new age of luxurious hospitality in the Back Bay and Beacon Hill neighborhoods with an opening that Boston - and the hotel world - will hardly forget. A beloved landmark in the city, The Newbury is renowned for her creative culinary offerings, fine contemporary art, stylish guest rooms with wood burning fireplaces, sweeping views of Boston, and curated guest experiences including the reimagined Afternoon Tea inside the elegant Newbury Salon. With the restoration of the charming property that welcomes guests back to Newbury Street and invokes the building’s historic legacy at every turn, The Newbury is one of the most highly anticipated luxury hotel openings of the year, and her reputation for innovation continues on in Travel + Leisure’s It List of Best New Hotels in 2021.

Recognizing hotels and resorts across 29 countries, the Travel + Leisure It List features properties that are “the best at what they do” in welcoming a new generation of guests and travelers through open doors. Members of the prestigious Travel + Leisure team explored properties around the world before selecting 73 groundbreaking properties to meet every travel need for the magazine’s six million readers and its larger social media audiences. As one of four prominent destinations located in Massachusetts and the sole Boston property on the list, The Newbury is among the ranks of top luxury hotels across the nation and the world.

The It List highlights many of the modern features and thoughtful guest touches of The Newbury that earned her selection as one of Travel and Leisure’s best new hotels. The property’s contemporary color palette paired with lavish herringbone touches, handcrafted wood, and marble accents offer guests a cool and welcoming atmosphere while drawing on the classic Bostonian aesthetic. Travel + Leisure also contributes one of the best views of Boston to The Newbury’s Contessa , the glass-enclosed rooftop restaurant serving excellent Italian cuisine year-round and offering guests an unmatched look at the city below. With the revival of the cherished Street Bar and its speakeasy ambience, visitors can hardly miss a chance at transporting back to the 1920s. After sampling intriguing cocktails on classic leather bar stools, you can return to your guest room and curl up by the original fireplace. With her complete renovation, The Newbury still offers a distinct taste of “old Boston” that earned her a place on Travel + Leisure’s Hotel It List.

While receiving recognition for her modern refresh, The Newbury shined through as one of New England’s top hotels with its dedication to preserving Boston’s history and its classic New England charm. Opening originally as a Ritz Carlton hotel in 1927, the Newbury is fondly called the Old Ritz to honor her past as a Back Bay landmark. The original entrance on Newbury Street was revitalized with a terrace plaza that paid homage to The Public Garden , the first public botanical garden in the United States and a renowned Boston attraction. Details throughout The Newbury like her original cobalt blue chandeliers, lobby adorned with contemporary artwork inspired by the salons of Europe , and library lounge stocked with a riveting selection of titles compiled by the Boston Public Library celebrate the city’s history and honor its sophisticated style. The hotel’s centuries-long love-affair with Boston is ever-present.

With The Newbury’s title as one of the top new hotels of 2021, you may be compelled by her glamour and modern heritage to pay a visit to one of Boston’s beloved landmarks, and she is the perfect place to stay as you explore the city that loves her. The Newbury boasts an unrivaled location of convenience: she lives in a premier shopping and dining destination across the street from the Public Garden and near the heart of downtown. Among the ‘A-List’ are several duos, be it husband and wife combinations or mother and son travel whizzes.

Zara Tindall, Princess Eugenie, and More British Royals Attended the F1 Grand Prix in Bahrain

Looks like the royal family are racing fans.

The royal ladies showed off their sporting style in a variety of ways. Zara opted for pared-back cool with a combo of jeans and a white blazer by Me+Em, paired with a pair of Superga 2630 Stripe sneakers—one of Kate Middleton's go-to sneaker brands . Eugenie also got in on the white kicks with a pair from the vegan sneaker brand Loci to offset her femme, sheer-sleeved, floral print dress by AllSaints. Sarah, meanwhile, opted to pair her grey Gucci blazer with embellished pockets over a black dress with a coordinating pair of glittery low-top sneakers by the same brand.

While none of the attendees at the event were working royals, the racing jaunt comes on the heels of an interesting time for the royal family . Following a planned surgical procedure earlier this year, the Palace announced King Charles's cancer diagnosis , leading the monarch to step back from his public-facing duties while he undergoes treatment. Queen Camilla has been undertaking a full roster of duties in his stead, however she has just announced that she will be taking a week off to spend time with Charles and her family. Kate Middleton, who had abdominal surgery in January , has also been absent from public events and is not expected to resume her duties as a working royal until after Easter.

U.S. Issues Travel Warning for Mexico Ahead of Spring Break

The warning is asking travelers to “travel smart” and “be informed."

marako85/Getty Images

The United States is warning travelers heading to Mexico to be aware of their surroundings ahead of the spring break holiday season.

The warning , which was issued this week by the U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Mexico, reminds travelers to “travel smart” and “be informed” as “thousands of U.S. citizens visit Mexico during spring break” each year. The embassy continued that “while the vast majority travel safely,” visitors should be aware of issues with crime, drugs, unregulated alcohol, drownings, and more.

“Crime, including violent crime, can occur anywhere in Mexico, including in popular tourist destinations. Travelers should maintain a high level of situational awareness, avoid areas where illicit activities occur, and promptly depart from potentially dangerous situations,” the embassy warned. “U.S. citizens should exercise increased caution in the downtown areas of popular spring break locations including Cancun, Playa Del Carmen, and Tulum, especially after dark.”

The warning also reminded American travelers that drug possession and use is illegal in Mexico, including medical marijuana. It also advised that unregulated alcohol may be contaminated, that counterfeit medication is common, and that guns are illegal in Mexico.

When it comes to the country’s popular beaches, the embassy reminded travelers some beaches may have strong rip tides and “may lack lifeguards, warnings, or signs of unsafe conditions.”

The U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Mexico issued a similar spring break warning last year .

The U.S. Department of State classifies different states in Mexico under different warning levels. While travelers can “exercise normal precautions” when traveling to the Campeche and Yucatan states, the State Department warns them to “exercise increased caution” when heading to places like Baja California Sur (where Los Cabos is), Mexico City, and Quintana Roo (where Cancun is) due to crime.

The State Department also asks American travelers to “reconsider” going to the state of Jalisco, which is home to popular destination Puerto Vallarta , due to the danger of crime and kidnapping.

The State Department recommends Americans who do travel to Mexico keep people at home informed of their travel plans and enroll in the department’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to both receive alerts and make it easier to locate them if an emergency occurs.

Travelers heading to international destinations can view all current travel advisories on the State Department's website at  travel.state.gov .
