Taylor Swift Proves Fearless at Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium (SHOW REVIEW/PHOTOS)

  • By Jason Gonulsen
  • One Comment

The name of Taylor Swift’s post-pandemic comeback tour is self-explanatory. How each of us got here is another story.

We all have our own tale to tell (that we know all too well). Mine was filled with profound loss, much too personal to describe here, but also relevant in the fact that it led me back to reviewing and photographing live music.

And Swift’s Eras Tour stop at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City on July 7th, the first of two nights, was an earned celebration for everyone in attendance. The timing was perfect: Swift had re-released her beloved third album,  Speak Now , that very morning — a “Taylor’s Version” that she re-recorded in a power move to reclaim her music from, well, The Man. A bit more on that later.

The beginning era, however, belonged to  Lover , the album released the summer before Covid which gave us the surprise (and belated) hit of  this  summer, “Cruel Summer.” It was performed almost immediately, joined with the opening and shortened “Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince.”

And boy did it ever hit. Swift, appearing fresh and in the prime of her life, sang the song, but so did 55,000 of her fans, creating a beautiful cacophony of sound that echoed anywhere it could find a wall in an open-air stadium. The song’s bridge erupted with the line, “He looks up grinning like a devil,” a rumble that I’m guessing could rival any winning touchdown drive by Patrick Mahomes (although a dude in the restroom swore that it wasn’t as loud as that one drive vs. the Bills, but I digress).

Swift took this energy and smartly used it to transition easily between eras of music that were sometimes profoundly different from one another. She never lost momentum, even when it was time for cuts from the acoustic “Folklore” and “Evermore,” two albums recorded and released during pandemic-induced isolation.

A song like “Champagne Problems” should never be able to work in a venue the size of Arrowhead Stadium. But as Swift has proved time and again over the last decade, there is always a way, especially when a very large percentage of your rapt and attentive audience knows all your lyrics and no one is cool enough not to sing. This is the way I like my concert experiences to unfurl; leave your cool-ass ego at the gate — we’re here to sing. When this happens, the acoustic portion(s) of the show become the loudest in the most moving moments:

“She would’ve made such a lovely bride What a shame she’s fucked in the head,” they said But you’ll find the real thing instead She’ll patch up your tapestry that I shred”

And some people still refer to this as bubblegum pop. If that’s the case, those bubbles are eventually gonna pop.

“Are you ready for it?” Swift asked as the  Reputation -era erupted. It ended with “Look What You Made Me Do,” which foreshadowed what she had just done that morning with the aforementioned re-release of  Speak Now .

Allow me to submit a few thoughts about what Swift is doing by re-recording her first six albums. I have tremendous respect for anyone who talks back to assumed (legal) authority when it is warranted, mostly because the suits who shall not be named here often hide in the shadows and thrive on technicalities. This kind of childish executive behavior — the refusal to sell back masters of recordings that should always belong to the artist — has no place in creating or managing art. What  does  have a place is what Swift is doing now: re-recording the albums she created so they are again hers. That’s really a new era in itself.

And Swift made sure the  Speak Now  portion of the show was special, adding “Long Live” to her core setlist for this tour. The addition proved to be the peak of the evening for me as its message was one of triumph and resilience — a refusal to never give up, to do the same work twice if that is what it takes. We will remember her name.

And she wasn’t done yet. After performing “Style,” “Blank Space,” “Shake It Off,” “Wildest Dreams,” and “Bad Blood” from  1989 , Swift used her “surprise acoustic portion” of the evening to return to the  Speak Now  era for a world premiere video showing of “I Can See You,” featuring actors Taylor Lautner, Joey King, and Presley Cash. While the video was being played, Swift knelt down in the darkness and watched it with us, like we were chilling at the local drive-in movie theater. When it was over, Swift brought out Lautner, King, and Cash to chat about the moment before two more solo-acoustic performances of “Never Grow Up” and the live premiere of “When Emma Falls in Love.”

As the clock approached midnight (the entire show was around 3 hours and 40 minutes), the final era was revealed with “Lavender Haze,” from her latest release,  Midnights . Swift did not half-ass the ending, either, carefully and patiently performing a whopping seven songs to close out the show. The hit from the album of course is “Anti-Hero,” but more impressive was the volatile “Vigilante Shit” and the show-closing “Karma,” the latter which put a bow on everything that was just witnessed.

“You flip the script, for the hell of it,” Swift sang.

Long live Taylor Swift and karma: they vibe like that.

Taylor Swift says Eras Tour concerts at Arrowhead Stadium were ‘unfathomably special’

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - It was a pair of concerts unlike anything Kansas City has ever experienced.

Thousands of Swifties jammed into Arrowhead Stadium on Friday and Saturday to witness, sing along and revel in the 3+ hour performance by one of (if not the) biggest name currently in music.

Taylor Swift posted to social media following the Eras Tour performances, reflecting on the two shows she put on:

“It was a Speak Now (my version) album release party at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City this weekend, full of surprises 😆 I got to premiere the video for ‘I Can See You’ on the big screen and hearing the crowd’s reaction to it is something I’ll never forget. THEN @joeyking @taylorlautner and @helloimpresleycash walked on stage (and there were even a few flips??) to say hi to everyone. I got to play Long Live with my incredible band (who are the ones playing on all my re-records too) and it was just so unfathomably special to me. Singing those words in a stadium full of people who helped me get my music back. Love you all 💜💜💜 See you very soon, Denver!”

Fans pack GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium Friday night for Taylor Swift's 'Eras' Tour

taylor swift tour arrowhead stadium

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One of the biggest stars on the planet came to Kansas City Friday night.

It was night one for Taylor Swift's concert stop in KCMO before tens of thousands of fans at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

"I mean it's totally awesome," Ella Warden said outside the stadium. "We all love Taylor Swift. We've been day ones since the beginning of time."

The Swifties , which is how the singer's fans refer to themselves, could be seen and heard in the parking lots outside the stadium.

Lots were full of singing, "Taylor-gating" and thousands of custom-made bracelets brought in by fans.

Just as much as sequins or the color lavender, trading bracelets with lyrics or Swift-specific sayings to meet new fans is a huge part of the culture.

"Taylor's kind of like created this like community of all these amazing people that've kind of come together," Warden said. "And so you see like the bracelets and you get to trade them with all kinds of people ."

Many of the fans at the concert grew up with Taylor Swift and she's had an influence on them.

Tonight's concert is a peak experience for many of Swift's fans.

"Being able to come to Arrowhead and Taylor-gate and do what we do for Chiefs games, but do it for Taylor Swift and to be with everyone in their awesome outfits is just so cool," said Sarah Markowitz, another huge Swift fan. "We've been thinking about this for months now, like it's wild that it's actually here."

Taylor Swift at the 2022 MTV VMAs

Taylor Swift has announced a massive 2023 stadium tour. Dubbed the Eras Tour, it begins in March 2023 and stretches into August. Guests on the tour include Phoebe Bridgers, Haim, Paramore, Beabadoobee, Gayle, Girl in Red, Gracie Abrams, Muna, and Owenn. Find her full schedule below.

The Eras Tour will support Swift’s new studio album, Midnights . It’s her 11th album to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, selling more than a million copies in its first week. Swift previously teased the tour during her interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in October.

Midnights features collaborations with Lana Del Rey and Zoë Kravitz, and Swift described it as “the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout [her] life.” The new LP follows a steady stream of albums: In 2020, Swift issued a pair of stripped down releases— Folklore and E vermore , and, last year, she returned with re-recorded versions of Fearless and Red .

Swift announced Midnights at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards as she accepted the trophy for Video of the Year. Swift won the accolade for her 10-minute “ All Too Well: The Short Film ,” marking her third victory for Video of the Year, having previously won for 2015’s “Bad Blood” and 2019’s “ You Need to Calm Down .”

In recent months, Swift has shared “ This Love (Taylor’s Version) ” (a re-recorded cut from 1989 ), penned an original song for the new film Where the Crawdads Sing , and joined Ed Sheeran for a new version of “ The Joker and the Queen .” She also joined Bon Iver and Aaron Dessner to perform “ Exile ” live. She’s currently in theaters as well, appearing in the new David O. Russell film Amsterdam alongside Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, John David Washington, Robert De Niro, Chris Rock, Anya Taylor-Joy, and more.

Taylor Swift: Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City – Live Review

taylor swift tour arrowhead stadium

Taylor Swift’s Eras tour is more than a concert; it is an immersive experience. Her first tour in over five years is a global phenomenon featuring excited fans cosplaying, sharing their friendship bracelets, and flocking to parking lots filled with merch.

The hysteria is real. The tour’s success has seen Taylor Swift evolve from being a pop star to a generational talent. Now at the apex of her success, she is laying massive stadium shows that run nearly four hours and leave her audiences wanting more.

In addition to dropping new albums, Swift is reclaiming her music. Currently in the process of re-recording her first six albums, her 7th July date at Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium coincided with the release of “Taylor’s Version” of her third album, Speak Now.

Billed as the “ Speak Now album release party,” Swift took to the stage before 80,000 people for a career-spanning set that featured 45 songs along with several surprises. Nothing short of a spectacle, the setlist was broken down by album, with Swift performing tracks from each record.

Utilising lifting platforms and three stages connected by a nearly 100-yard walkway, Swift was joined by fourteen dancers and a troupe of six backing musicians. Presented non-chronologically, each “era” of her career featured a unique colour scheme, costume design, visual backdrop, and stage setting to establish the right atmosphere. Performing her work in uninterrupted sections, she also used a customised microphone to represent each period of her career.

Taylor Swift: Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City – Live Review

Next came the twang as she sang selections from her second album Fearless. From there, the music and the set design got lush as Swift moved on to material from Evermore. The foresty tranquillity began with ‘Tis The Damn Season And Willow, which featured Taylor and her dancers donning black capes. Marjorie saw the audience make their statement as the stadium filled with lights from flashlights and cell phones.

Taylor Swift: Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City – Live Review

Following that came haunting versions of Enchanted and the tour debut of Long Live, which gave way to the country-pop sounds of Red. A moving rendition of 22 was greeted with wild enthusiasm, as was We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.

A cabin served as the backdrop for seven songs from Folklore, an album Swift made during the pandemic. Addressing the crowd, she mentioned that the record allowed her to write in a different voice. Serving as a come down from the sugary pop preceding it, Betty, The Last Great American Dynasty, and Cardigan saw the twelve-time Grammy winner showcase her voice with an emotionally powerful collection of compositions.

Once again, the gears shifted as the serenity of Folklore meshed into the vitality of 1989. Style was celebratory, while Blank Space and Shake It Off were party anthems. After that, things got rambunctious with Bad Blood, one of the night’s best moments.

Promising several surprises earlier, Swift put her cards on the table and announced that those in attendance would be treated to the world premiere of her new video for I Can See You featuring Taylor Lautner, Joey King, and Presley Cash. Thrilled to see this special screening, the immense crowd erupted in rapture as the video’s stars joined Taylor Swift onstage.

During this tour, Taylor has featured two special songs nightly that have not been played during previous dates. Celebrating Speak Now, she told the crowd how important owning her music is to her before launching into an ethereal version of Never Grow Up followed by the live debut of Emma Falls In Love, a poignant ballad from that record’s sessions which has been added to the new release.

Picking up the beat once again, Taylor Swift unleashed a flurry of seven tracks from Midnights. The seven thumpers chosen each used manipulated rhythms built to a crescendo that closed out the show. While Lavender Haze was bouncy, Anti-Hero was a hedonistic delight. They were followed by Mastermind and the throbbing electro throwdown, Karma.

Depleted, sweaty, and exhausted, her devoted fans, many of whom spanned generations in the same family, still wanted more. Worked up into a frenzy and driven to the brink of emotional exhaustion, the unrelenting audience never wavered in showering Swift with affection. For them, Taylor Swift’s Eras tour was a pilgrimage.

Humbled by the reception she received, Swift chatted with the massive crowd, most of whom had been on site for over eight hours, arriving in the early afternoon to explore the abundance of merch stands in the parking lot. Their sore throats and tired feet were rewarded with a concert like no other.

Taylor Swift: Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City – Live Review

Unrivaled in scale, Taylor Swift’s show was astonishing. Using a symmetry of sight, sound, and synced projections, her cohesive setlist was both informal and bombastic, allowing the prolific singer to transition seamlessly across genres.

Going into the concert, I appreciated Taylor Swift’s bold career choices and her willingness to claw and scratch to retain control of her catalog. After seeing the Eras tour live, I understand all the hullaballoo and appreciate her even more.

Musically, her epic Kansas City show underscored what millions of her fans already knew: she is a transformative figure whose pop music defies categorising. She is also an artist who is changing how music is presented to audiences. Her tour is a groundbreaking and hip-shaking experience for devoted Swifties and newbies alike. Buckle up! Taylor Swift is changing the future.

How to buy Taylor Swift tickets: Eras Tour dates and prices compared

When you buy through our links, Business Insider may earn an affiliate commission. Learn more

Taylor Swift's reign continues as she ramps up for the next leg of The Eras Tour. The singer-songwriter will kick off the European portion of her world tour in Paris in May, which will continue throughout the summer. From there, she'll return to North America to tour Canada and a few remaining US cities in the fall. If you're hoping to attend, we've compiled all of the details of The Eras Tour, including how to get Taylor Swift tour tickets.

Swift's Eras Tour has taken the world by storm since March 2023. The three-plus-hour tour features hits from each of Swift's album eras, from "Lover" to her recent Grammy Award-winning "Midnights." Each show also features surprise songs and occasional guests, so fans never quite know what they're in for. Swift will release her latest album, "The Tortured Poets Department," in April, but it's unknown if any of those songs will make their way to the tour setlist.

Getting tickets has become its own battle and many fans have waited hours in the Ticketmaster queue to hopefully snag some seats, if they could get a presale ticket code in the first place. While Swift continues to extend the tour, including new US dates, tickets remain hard to come by.

Below, we've put together a guide on everything to know about The Eras Tour, including the tour schedule, ticket purchasing details, resale ticket prices, and the concert film streaming options . You can also peruse resale vendors like StubHub and Vivid Seats at your leisure.

Taylor Swift international tour dates

The Eras Tour international dates resume on May 9 in Paris. The European tour will run until August 20 in London. UK prices are listed in pounds, and start times vary from city to city. US dates start in October and can be found under the following table.

Taylor Swift North American tour dates

The Eras tour will return to the US on October 18 in Miami. In addition to the Miami shows, Swift will perform multiple dates in New Orleans and Indianapolis. On November 14, Swift will head to Canada for several shows in Toronto and Vancouver. All North American shows start at 7 p.m. local time.

How to buy tickets for Taylor Swift's 2024 tour

Original standard tickets for Taylor Swift's 2024 sold out long ago for both international and domestic dates. All US tickets and many international tickets were sold through Ticketmaster , although select international locations used different services.

Tickets for most dates are available on resale websites like StubHub and Vivid Seats . These are generally higher-priced than the originals, which are no longer available. Keep in mind that some countries have rules regarding reselling tickets.

How much are Taylor Swift tickets?

Ticket prices vary by date and location. International resale tickets tend to be a bit cheaper than US resale tickets. It's worth noting that some of the cheapest tickets have restricted views.

StubHub's cheapest European tickets range from $392 (Madrid, Spain, on May 29) to £978 (London, United Kingdom, on June 22). The latter is around $1,248 in USD. The lowest prices for most shows are around $450 to $1,000. On Vivid Seats , the cheapest tickets for these dates go for $549 and $683, respectively.

When it comes to North American shows, the cheapest StubHub tickets range from $1,045 (Vancouver, Canada, on December 8) to $2,081 (Miami, Florida, on October 19). Most of the cheapest tickets are priced between $1,200 and $1,800. On Vivid Seats, the cheapest Taylor Swift tickets on these dates start at $1,133 and $2,212, respectively. The two resale vendors generally have similarly priced offerings, but this varies from show to show.

Who is opening for Taylor Swift's tour?

Taylor Swift has a variety of opening acts, from up-and-coming singers to established groups. Opening acts vary by date. For the European leg of the tour, Paramore will open for Swift. In the US and Canada, Gracie Abrams will be the opening act.

Will Taylor Swift add more dates to the Eras Tour?

Taylor Swift already added additional stops to her tour due to popular demand, including her US tour dates this fall. She also added additional dates to some of her European city stops, including bonus performances in France and the United Kingdom, among other locations. It's unknown whether Swift will end up adding even more tour dates, but by the end of the upcoming US leg she will have been touring for almost two years, so fans shouldn't be surprised if she takes a break.

Taylor Swift's Eras: How the most successful concert tour ever got started in Arizona

taylor swift tour arrowhead stadium

Taylor Swift launched The Eras Tour era with a sold-out two-night stand at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on Friday and Saturday, March 17-18, 2023, the opening salvo of a record-breaking tour that has dominated headlines and, in many ways, the conversation ever since.

The Eras Tour is a phenomenon as big as Swift herself, if such a thing is possible — the highest-grossing tour of all time and the first tour in history to generate more than $1 billion in revenue.

The concert film — "Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour" — released in theaters worldwide on Oct. 13, 2023, quickly became the highest-grossing concert film in history , a record previously held by Justin Bieber.

Following The Eras Tour launch, Swift immediately shot to No. 1 on Pollstar's Artist Power Index chart , ending 2023 as Time magazine’s perfectly obvious choice for Person of the Year .

"Swift’s accomplishments as an artist — culturally, critically and commercially — are so legion that to recount them seems almost beside the point," Time wrote.

Then, after running down a laundry list of those accomplishments while placing her alongside Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson and Madonna as a pop star, Time explained why this year more than any other year.

"As a celebrity — who by dint of being a woman is scrutinized for everything from whom she dates to what she wears — she has long commanded constant attention and knows how to use it," Time wrote.

"But this year, something shifted. To discuss her movements felt like discussing politics or the weather — a language spoken so widely it needed no context. She became the main character of the world."

By that point, USA TODAY had hired its own Taylor Swift reporter and Swift had grabbed another first — first billionaire in history with music as the main source of income .

How the Year of Taylor Swift began in Glendale, Arizona

And to think: The Year of Taylor all began in Glendale, which renamed itself Swift City for the weekend in her honor.

A symbolic rebrand, the Swift City storyline played out on digital billboards along freeways and in Glendale's Westgate Entertainment District, where State Farm Stadium is located, welcoming fans to Swift City.

For what it's worth, we would've gone with Glendale (Taylor's Version) .

Swift had launched the Reputation Tour in that same stadium five years earlier.

She really likes us!

The Eras Tour is 'a journey through all of my musical eras'

In announcing the tour, Swift had promised “a journey through all of my musical eras,” which by any reasonable metric, is a lot of ground to cover — 10 hit albums, four of which have been released since the conclusion of the Reputation Tour in late 2018.

And she made it look easy, enjoying the journey as much as the Swifties who flocked to the show did while revisiting her catalog one era at a time in a marathon set that ran more than three hours, squeezing in 44 songs before the night was through.

Her earliest eras weren’t as prominently featured in the journey as her recent albums. There was only one song, “Tim McGraw,” from her first album, “Taylor Swift,” and one, “Enchanted,” from her third release, “Speak Now.”

The early albums she’d already rerecorded in “Taylor’s Version” editions by the time the tour launched were given more time in the spotlight. There were three songs from her second album “Fearless” and four from her fourth album, “Red.”

Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour: 5 magic moments at State Farm Stadium that Arizonans saw first

The Eras Tour favored the eras since the Reputation Tour

It made sense that Swift would give more stage time to the albums she hadn’t had a chance to tour since being forced to pull the plug on Lover Fest, the tour she had planned in support of 2019’s “Lover,” in response to the pandemic that took everybody off the road in 2020.

Not quite an hour into her performance on Night 1 in Glendale, Swift asked fans, “Is it just me or do we have a lot of things to catch up on?”

Noting that “it’s been a really long time since I’ve been on tour,” she said they’d “added four new members to the family” since that last tour, introducing them by name as “Lover,” “Folklore,” Evermore” and “Midnights,” her latest release, which brought the concert to an end with a seven-song sampler.

It was a breathtaking journey through 17 years’ worth of musical eras with the artist connecting with at every step along the way.

When Taylor dove into a stream and sang 'All Too Well'

The stage show was designed to reach the back rows of the stadium with a breathtaking blend of artful set design — that “Folklore” cabin was cottagecore gold — and film projected on the massive screen behind the stage.

It was a concert packed with highlights, the most theatrical of which came at the end of an understated “Tim McGraw,” which Swift performed alone on a satellite stage, accompanying herself on an upright piano. At the song’s conclusion, she stood up and appeared to dive into a stream to swim beneath the runaway to the main stage.

As entertaining as that was, the full 10-minute version of “All Too Well” from “Red (Taylor’s Version),” the longest song to top the Billboard Hot 100, emerged as the concert’s emotional centerpiece, a heartbreaking triumph that ended in a haunting shower of paper snowflakes.

That opening-night performance also introduced the concept of “ surprise songs ,” two unannounced acoustic songs she planned to slip into the set each night just to keep fans guessing in the Era of the Online Setlist, where a quick Google search can reveal all.

The Era Tour is scheduled to conclude on Dec. 8, 2024, in Vancouver, Canada.

Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce Are the True MVPs During Date in Malibu

Originally appeared on E! Online

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are taking their love story to lunch.

After all, the Grammy winner and Kansas City Chiefs player were spotted having an enchanting date at Nobu in Malibu, Calif.

For the March 24 daytime outing, Taylor wore a light blue sweater tucked into a tan pleated miniskirt. She accessorized the look with brown and white loafers, a brown purse, and sunglasses. Travis—who also stepped out at the Japanese restaurant last month—kept it casual in a white long sleeved shirt, black sweatpants and a white hat.

Taylor and Travis' recent outing is just one of many, as the couple has been spending time together worldwide. In fact, they recently returned from a romantic trip to the Bahamas together.

Plus, the tight-end traveled to Singapore to see the "Karma" singer earlier this month, where she wrapped up the Asia-Pacific leg of the Eras Tour with six shows at National Stadium.

Taylor Swift Through the Years

"I got to see two amazing shows of the Eras Tour," Travis told his brother Jason Kelce on their New Heights podcast March 13. "The last of the leg that Taylor has until she's back at it here in a couple months. Yeah outside of that, got to eat some lovely Singapore food and just catch the views."

And last month, the football player touched down in Australia to spend time with Taylor, who was performing four shows in Sydney. But the stars, both 34, weren't just spending time at the stadium—they spent some time at the Sydney Zoo .

As the duo has traveled, Travis also reflected on Taylor's global fame during the March 6 episode of his podcast, noting that in Australia, "There were full-on helicopters just flying around."

"Well, not us—Taylor," he continued. "This is all because Taylor is the biggest and the best thing possible."

While Travis and Taylor continue living in their dazzling haze, keep reading to see where their love story began.

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour crowd caused earthquake-like tremors. These 5 songs shook SoFi Stadium the most.

By Nicole Brown Chau

Updated on: March 18, 2024 / 6:44 PM EDT / CBS News

Taylor Swift is known to have an energetic fan base, but just how much energy can 70,000 Swifties generate? A group of scientists in California may have an answer based on earthquake-like signals from her Los Angeles Eras Tour concert at SoFi Stadium on Aug. 5, 2023.

After Swift's concerts at Seattle's Lumen Field in July caused seismic activity, a California Institute of Technology research team sought to better understand what causes "concert tremor." The team recorded vibrations from motion sensors it set up near and inside SoFi Stadium as well as regional seismic network stations and was able to detect 43 of the 45 songs Swift performed during her concert.

By calculating the energy radiated during each song at the Los Angeles concert, the Caltech researchers could interpret each as a local magnitude of an earthquake that would have radiated the same energy, according their research article , published in Seismological Research Letters on March 13.

With these calculations, the study found the most energetic signals during these songs:

  • "Shake It Off" with a local magnitude of 0.851
  • "You Belong with Me" with a local magnitude of 0.849
  • "Love Story" with a local magnitude of 0.800
  • "Cruel Summer" with a local magnitude of 0.741
  • "22" with a local magnitude of 0.645

The energy released during each song is over a few minutes, rather than a second in the case of an earthquake, explained Gabrielle Tepp, a staff seismologist at the Caltech Seismological Laboratory who oversaw the study. "So the magnitude calculated from the maximum amplitude of shaking is much lower (about -2)," she told CBS News.

The researchers determined that crowd motion was the primary source of the concert tremor signals, not the speaker system and instruments.

They also analyzed three other concerts at SoFi in the summer of 2023: Morgan Wallen, Metallica and Beyoncé.

"Overall, the results from these concerts are similar to those from the Swift concerts and support the audience-source hypothesis," the research article says. "The (local magnitude) of the songs was in the same range as the Swift concerts, although none matched or exceeded the strongest Swift signal."

Swift's Eras Tour has broken multiple records, including becoming the first to gross over $1 billion , according to Pollstar. Swift is currently on a brief break from shows, with the tour starting again on May 9 in Paris after the release of her eleventh studio album, The Tortured Poets Department , on April 19.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Taylor Swift couldn't just shake off another chance to watch Travis Kelce on the football field.

The 12-time Grammy Award winner arrived at MetLife Stadium about 40 minutes before kickoff Sunday night to watch Kelce and his Kansas City Chiefs defeat the New York Jets 23-20.

SNY posted video of Swift, wearing blue jean shorts, a long-sleeved black top and leather jacket, entering the stadium's security area with actors Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively and Hugh Jackman. NBC's telecast cut to Swift several times during the game, including a shot of the pop superstar with her arm around Kelce's mother, Donna, who was wearing her son's No. 87 jersey.

Swift's appearance comes a week after she was at Arrowhead Stadium — decked out in red and white — to watch the Chiefs' 41-10 rout of the Chicago Bears at home in a suite alongside Donna Kelce. Swift took advantage of an invitation from the All-Pro tight end to watch the game, and apparently had to see more of Kelce and the Chiefs in action.

Swift is on a break from her Eras Tour, which resumes Nov. 9 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. NBC played a commercial for the tour about 20 minutes before kickoff.

MetLife Stadium is a familiar spot for Swift, who performed three sold-out concerts there in May. Among those in attendance for two of those shows was Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who returned to the team this weekend after tearing his left Achilles tendon on the fourth play of his debut with New York on Sept. 11.

Rodgers attended a team meeting Saturday night and was at the stadium watching player warmups from the sideline Sunday night.

Neither Swift nor Kelce have revealed any details about their relationship. Kelce said on his “New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce” podcast earlier this week that Swift "looked amazing” at the game.

“Everybody was talking about her and in a great light," Kelce said of her time spent in the suite. "And on top of that, you know, the day went perfect for Chiefs fans. Of course, we script it all, ladies and gentlemen.”

Kelce had invited Swift to that game after trying — and failing — to give her a friendship bracelet when her Eras Tour made its stop in Kansas City.
