Greece: Classical Greece - The Ultimate Odyssey Bike Tour

odyssey bike tours

Greece: Classical Greece - The Ultimate Odyssey Bike Tour The Ultimate Odyssey. Our hallmark program since 1979! White marble columns, gnarled olive trees, turquoise blue skies, and radiant sunsets are reflections of Greece. Archaeological monuments reflect Greece's glorious past. Donkeys, sheep, and goats remind us of a simpler age that cherishes village life and generous hospitality. The Greek people, culture, and climate are all excellent reasons for joining this tour; in addition, our former participants have been especially intrigued with Greece's history, archaeology, and modern culture. If experience counts, Classic Adventures cannot be surpassed in terms of experience in Greece. Classic Adventures founder Dale Hart, has guided excursions to Greece since 1973. Greece continues to be a central part of our tour menu. Our route avoids the difficult mountains and Athens traffic. Many rides follow the coast. Beginning cyclists in good physical shape can negotiate this tour. (For those who want more challenge, we always offer a few optional climbs.) The beautiful Island of Zakinthos with its lovely beaches, intricate network of roads, and friendly people, is a highlight of this tour. Our itinerary is designed so that most hotel stays are 2-3 nights long. Five nights of lodging are in luxury class hotels; five nights are in A class hotels. This tour is our hallmark program. We invite you to call for a detailed price comparison. You simply won't find a better value in regards to expert guides, lodging, meals provided, scenic routing, and daily historic & cultural talks. This tour includes detailed route notes and maps, marked and painted easy to follow routes, expert historical, cultural and political commentary, and expert bicycle mechanics.

I love to bike and explore. I also enjoy learning about new places and cultures- I love the TDA style as they provide the right amount of support for me, either too little nor too much.

I'm a Canadian-American and split my time between urban urban life Brooklyn, NY and on the Northumberland Strait in Atlantic Canada. The Orient Express will be my 6th ride with TDA.

Maureen Collins

TDA allows me to go to off-the-beaten-track parts of the world at just the right pace, on a bike - with my camera. For me it's a great combination of being active, exploring new places and taking photographs. Can't think of a better way of spending these years of my life - which the word 'retirement' doesn't seem to describe very well.

Jeffrey Lizotte

A veteran of TDA. A great company. Love touring. Retired. Always have a great deal of fun on these trips.

Eric Wolinsky

I love bicycle touring and I've been looking forward to this trip for a while.

Janice Dickie

My husband, Greg Taylor, and I are excited to join our first TDA tour, and to meet and share laughs and stories with other riders along the way. We have participated in quite a few supported and self-supported tours over the years, including within and across Canada, across France, and a number of USA destinations like the Pacific Coast route. With its diverse terrain, cultures and history, the Odyssey Tour should be a wonderful adventure. Looking forward to meeting each of you in May 2017!

GREG TAYLOR

I am an avid sailor, runner, and cyclist whose passions are inconvenienced by having to work to pay for them. This will be the fourth longer distance tour my wife - Janice Dickie - and I have completed. The others being across France, from our home in BC to San Francisco, and through PEI, Acadia and Quebec in eastern Canada. I am excited to hear others find a riding day incomplete without a beer to top it off.

Gennesse Beadman

Have been bike touring since about 2007 through Tasmania, New Zealand, Thailand, Israel, Africa, Costa Rica, parts of Mexico, India and Sri Lanka and most of Europe except those cold northern areas. And I did a self-supported ride to China, via Macau in 1983, now that was an adventure... My "affair" with the TdA family began with the Africa trip in 2012. Then the inaugural French Connection tour in 2016, 2017 The Odyssey. Fabulous group, exciting hill climbs, rugged/raw scenery and the tour leaders & staff, exceptional. 2018 Pub Ride 2, a fun trip with lots of laughs and and great hills in the Yorkshire Moors. 2019 The Hippie Trail and best tour for diversity, contradiction, colour, food and, and, and excitement. I enjoy travelling with like-minded people from all parts of the world, indulging in a cold beer or two when it's hot, or cold but especially after a great day in the saddle. Just love the life on the road.

Ruth Grathwohl

Looking forward to participating in my 6th TDA ride with my husband Peter Ellis

John Hemmen

I have been an avid cyclist all my life and have done many tours on both road and mountain bikes. Cycling is simply the best way to travel through country, for it lends itself to a relaxed and visceral connection to the land and its people. I am a retired Emergency Physician and have done the Trans Europa, Odyssey, Pub Ride, and NAE tours previously with TDA.

Miriam Gold

Peter millikan.

I am 75, a retired emergency physician, married since 1973, three children and five grand children, living north of Seattle on the Tulalip Indian Reservation. Travel highlights: half year backpacking and tent camping in East Africa and South America, four weeks trekking in Nepal, half year living in Andalusia, Camino de Santiago on mountain bike, road bike trips from Seattle to Bath, Maine, Natchez Trace, Seattle to San Francisco via Oregon Coast, TDA Transeuropa, TDA Odyssey, TDA North American Epic (Banff to Yuma), mountain bike trips in Northern Rockies, around Moab, and various rides around California and Washington with friends, bike clubs or solo. I've summited the volcanic peaks in the Cascades as well as Mt Whitney. Besides hiking and biking I like windsurfing and skiing. I can say a few things in Spanish or Russian.

I'm a retired professor of economics at the University of Alaska Anchorage. When not working I love to ski in the winter and bike the rest of the year. At 75 this will probably be my last mega bike trip.

I look forward to my fourth TDA adventure and hope to set a new PR for the lightest and smallest daily bag. I’m retired, my last job being an epidemiologist in women’s and children’s health for the Alaska Division of Public Health. I discovered bike touring 15 years ago, it’s my favorite way to travel the world. We’ve made many a fast friend among fellow TDAers. And, excited to be biking with my cousin Xufeng.

Chet Basher

Looking forward to this adventure-----Have previously done ride across USA and 2 other TDA trips in Europe--- Stay well to all have fun

Married to Judy. Both rode LEJOG in 2014, TDA Bamboo Road in 2015, the first third of TDA Trans-Europa in 2016, the TDA Odyssey in 2017, the TDA Pub Ride in 2018, and the last 80% of TDA's North American Epic (so for us Banff to Panama) in 2019. This tour will be my first on an e-bike. My superpower is finding coffee stops.

Married to Tim Sole, who is also on the tour. This will be my sixth TDA trip having previously done the Bamboo Road, part of the Transeuropa, the Odyssey, the Pub Ride and 80% of the North American Epic (Jasper to Panama). Greatly enjoyed cycling LEJOG (Lands End to John O' Groats) and the South Island of New Zealand.

Özgür Karataş

“Working outdoors is phenomenal.”

When TDA need local support for translations in Turkey in 2014, I entered the picture. Before TDA, I lived year-round there, in Izmir. Now I live on the road eight months of the year; the rest of the time I’m in Turkey, either applying for visas or rock-climbing.

Sometimes on a tour our failures are as incredible as our successes. Being defeated as my tour attempted to climb a new route on Koca Sarp, a rocky mountain in central Anatolia, is an experience I’ll always remember.

I’ve seen so much of the world with TDA. My favourite place I’ve been so far is Meteora, Greece. Probably the greatest pleasure of cycle-touring for me is never spending more than two days in a row in the same spot.

Gergo Szanyi

Hi there, My name is Gergo [Grrr-go], I'm from Budapest, Hungary.  I graduated in Visual Communications, since then I am dealing with photography, film and all sorts of graphic design projects. After more than a decade of annual and occasional bike touring with my family and friends in the late 80's and 90's, a couple of seasons of mountain bike racing, and quite a few years of "just" sitting in an office, in 2005 I bounced into a magazine article about the Tour of Freaks... I mean... the Tour d'Afrique.  It made me wonder: how such distance is even doable on a bicycle?  Fast forward to the following January: I found myself in Cairo, at the start line of the 4th edition of TDA!  I successfully completed the full tour as the first (and only) Hungarian in the TDA's history. What a great adventure it was! Next year, in 2007 I crossed the Himalaya by bike, riding with a friend from Lhasa to Kathmandu.  On this trip we had a great off-road ride up to the "North Base Camp" of Mount Everest in Tibet, China at 5,150 metres (16,900 ft) above sea level. This is where this profile photograph was taken. In 2010 we circumnavigated the island of Cuba with Eszter. Self-supported, with the help of an outdated, but then only available paper map. Since then I did the Amber Route, a couple of Orient Express tours, Trans Europas, Odysseys and the PubRides. In the summer of 2020 we completed a long distance all self-supported bicycle tour with the kids (then aged 1 and 6) with tents, a tandem and trailers.

Catalin Pricoiu

Peter mccartney.

My name is Peter McCartney and this is my 4th TDA trip.

Brett Lanham

I’m an ex seafarer, retired now for 10 years, fortunate enough to have been able to get away on a bike tour with TdA every year since 2011, until 2020 that was! I look forward to catching up with friends from past rides and meeting new ones and sharing this great adventure with a beer, or two.

Dianne Lizotte

This seems to be an exciting adventure through places I have not ridden before. Been on many TDA adventures and they are always memorable.

John Waterhouse

This will be my eighth TDA tour. Obviously, I am an addict. Why do I enjoy it enough to keep coming back? The people, the sights, sounds and smells of distant lands, the food, the physical challenge and the comradery of touring.

“The thing I love most about my job is watching the social dynamics unfold.”

For as long as I can remember I’ve been stripping, fixing, and riding bicycles. As well, I knew from a young age I wanted to explore, travel, and see the world—my dream at one time was to fly airplanes. However, it wasn’t long before I realized that flying in a straight line from point A to point B wasn’t for me!

When I left school I had no direction, no idea of where I wanted to be or what I wanted to do, once my dream of flying died. In 2003, I saw a magazine ad of a bunch of cyclists lined up in front of the Giza pyramids and I became hooked on the idea of doing that but I had to choose between taking a four-month cycling trip across Africa or going to Warriors Boot Camp to get educated. I chose Warriors and the programme equipped me for life by giving me a solid foundation. There, I was free to discover and explore who I was and to test physical and mental endurance. Having my attitude and my comfort zone constantly pushed readied me for all sorts of real-world challenges. I stayed at Warriors for three years, then cycled solo across Africa when I was 22 years old. In 2009, I landed the job as TDA’s assistant tour director on the Cairo to Cape Town trip—and the rest is history.

Ever since, Africa has been my baby and my favourite. I’ve worked on other tours—the Silk Route, the Bamboo Road, Ruta Maya, Magical Madagascar—but Africa is my full-time project and has lately included TDA’s complex tour of West Africa.

I’m based in beautiful Cape Town; when I’m not here, I’m scouting, exploring, problem-solving somewhere in the world and revelling in the adventure of being alive.

TDA has taken me to 80 countries and my most incredible off-the-beaten-track expedition was the West Africa scout in 2017, especially Guinea—I’d never been to a place so remote, rough or wild. I fell in love with Africa all over again on that trip. The stories are epic and endless!

There’s never a dull moment with TDA, because you absolutely never know what’s going to happen next.

I recently retired from a career in natural resources planning and management. The last 15 year with the non-profit The Nature Conservancy. Upon my retirement I took off and completed four week-long bike rides last summer (including Colorado and Idaho). I love travel and have traveled in Europe before (last summer doing the 12 day hike around Mount Blanc) but never by bike - so am very much looking forward to opportunity,

Gary Hoffman

A retired guy from Washington DC who really enjoys biking and meeting new people on these TDA trips.

Kelly McNamara

I have found riding a bike a great way to travel and see the world. There is no barrier between you and the environment, you see all the small things and of course you feel and smell everything. Tda has been my favorite company as the tours are longer and more independent.. It's addicting to fall into the day to day rhythm and routines. I just finished up the Viva Italia with my friend Chris Dean; whom I met on The Odyssey. I'm looking forward to the next big adventure on Trans-Europe.

Robert Dorsey

I just did the Odyssey and had a great time. Looking forward to another tour with TDA

Anne Bradley

I have taken long distance cycling trips throughout North America and Europe with my Dutch husband. I am a teacher, triathlete, cross country skier and speed skater. Geoff Hawke

I am long-time swimmer, cyclist and runner. Did several bike tours in Australia and New Zealand back in the early 1980s before moving into triathlon, which I’ve done ever since. Won my age group at Ironman New Zealand in 2015 before completing the Ironman World Championships at Kona, Hawaii, later that year. I’m 61 and don’t want to look back in 10 years’ time and wonder why I didn’t do it.

I have just completed the Viva Italia tour this year and am keen to come back and have another European adventure.

Hi! TDA odyssey 23 is my first tour with TDA. I was very much inspired from the riders and staff when i helped a TDA tour as a translater in Turkey and I wanted to be a part of it. I am a part time engineer, and a part time farmer. Very excited to experience Europe with a speed of a bike :)

I'm an ambitious and curious cinematographer utilizing creative storytelling to inspire a global movement of exploration. My emphasis is on representing a variety of geographic populations to advocate for cultural diversity and environmental stability, as well as mental and physical benefits to promote a healthy, active lifestyle. In 2023 I served as content creator on the TDA Hippie Trail across India and TDA The Odyssey across Europe! I'm excited to meet you all and embark on this adventure together!

I am a real estate broker living in Toronto, Canada. I love to travel and I think cycling is best way to do it. I conquered the Orient express and had a blast. TDA has the right balance of distance, and days off, however the hotels could be chosen a little more wisely. Looking forward to meeting new friends and some previous ones. Furthermore I’m married and we have two adult kids. I’m working for Philips for almost 35 years in a row. I consider this trip as a sabbatical break from my daily routine. I’m looking forward to this adventure.

Starting doing my first TDA trip back in 2011 and doing quite some more along the years I am so happy to be back there after a far too long Corona pause. First time cycling with you in Europe is exciting - a bit more comfortable than my third world camping expeditions.. Fits me really well! And about time to learn the more charming stretches of Germany after pendling between Austria (where I live) and Denmark (where I come from) for over 40 years. This will be wonderfull: to meet you all and doing a full supported tour again!

"The very core of man's living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun" Chris McCandless Into the Wild Extremely happy and grateful to have participated in and cycled the equivalent of twice around the world on some 10+ incredible TDA trips, Coast to coast, all EFI, on 6 of the worlds 7 continents. First rider to have completed all & of the TDA 7 Epics. Special thanks to the TDA and their amazing, dedicated staff for making such trips,. and the quote above, possible- there is an incredible amount of work that goes into scouting, logistics, bookings, vehicles, staffing food, etc etc. Nobody does it better than the TDA, No one runs tours like they do on roads less travelled. It's a wonderful lifestyle, Eat, Sleep and Ride. Learning lots every day from wherever we are on the planet. " The world is my classroom, I am it's student and class is in session" Thanks also to the many wonderful, strong willed fellow riders who have helped shape each unique journey and make it special. From ages 25 to 78+, you are all very inspiring and show us what is possible, proving that age is just a number. Super inspired on the recent Journey to the East tour where over 50% of the riders were between 70-80 years young! Thanks also to my dedicated and understanding wife Linda, Together we started a charity in 2008, Bicycles for Humanity Victoria. Since inception we have collected, shipped and donated over 6513 good used bikes and spare parts to 4 African countries, Namibia, Uganda, Tanzania and Malawi in 15 Containerloads. Our work has paused for now after 15 years due to wife's health issues., .

I have completed three TDA tours and loved all of them. Although I travelled extensively in South America, I have never cycled there, so this will be another new adventure. I live and work in Singapore.

Roger Hesford

An average cyclist who enjoys touring and experiencing other cultures.

Corinne Burt

Digital nomad currently living in US but open to other options.

Margit Donhowe

I live in Ketchum, Idaho and I love to be outdoors. I ski, bike, hike, backpack, canoe and paddle board. I am also an avid reader and traveler.

I am a retired emergency physician living in Ketchum/Sun Valley, Idaho. My wife and I have two kids, and after dropping our youngest off at college, we moved here so that we could have easy access to skiing, biking (both road and mountain), and hiking. My first taste of bike touring was when I joined a college buddy for just four days of his several month ride that went the length of the Mississippi River. I truly enjoyed the comaraderie and the travel. Seeing the countryside change fast enough to feel you were seeing new sights, but slowly enough to enjoy them seems the ideal way to explore; really looking forward to this first bike tour overseas on the Far East Tour.

Steve Caithness

I'm looking forward to this trip. I cycled Madagascar 2019 and was new to cycling long distances when I started that, and loved the experience. I've been pretty active all my life, playing sports, fishing and diving, and especially enjoyed travelling to Truk Lagoon in 2011 and 2013 diving shipwrecks. So I am looking forward to a new challenge and enjoy meeting new people from different cultures and with different ways of life.

Joseph howard, judith gold.

I am a casual cyclist, but I have been planning this trip for 20 years, ever since the first TDA ride. Finally, kids grown, retired, post COVID, and after riding half of the Great American Road Trip in 2021, and the full Bamboo Road in 2022, I feel ready to take this on (but not that ready). I am married to Gonzalo Pastor, who is also coming, and even less of a cyclist than me. So together with the sweep, we will be the last coming in, but hopefully always with a smile.

Just a guy who loves biking in nature, not fast, with plenty of stops for food and photos. Currently working as an engineering consultant in California with my own company, giving me some flexibility for longer vacation trips. Before 2022, I'd mostly gone on DIY 1-week bike tours, so I was apprehensive about being able to handle longer trips... but I joined the first month of the 2022 Bamboo Road (Vietnam and Cambodia), and the full Journey to the East in 2023 and had a great time on both. I'm considering joining the 2025 Madagascar, half of the 2025 Silk Route, or The Odyssey 2026.

Gonzalo Pastor

Hi. I am a Peruvian economist. I am 65 years old. I am not a regular rider, but I like the experience when I do it.

Travel and riding my bike are two of my favorite things to do. I am retired and enjoying what life offers. I grew up in Seattle and have lived in Oregon with my family for the past 40 years. I worked and lived in S. Korea, Taiwan, China and Indonesia for about 8 years in footwear production and product creation. I am married and have two adult children now living in Seattle. I am a tour guide in the summers on Mt. St. Helens and the Hood River Gorge for American Cruise Lines. I also volunteer as a gardener at the Portland Japanese Garden.

The Odyssey - Istanbul to Ithaca

Leave a review

  Tour Operator   Bike Odyssey

    Greece &   Türkiye

  28   days   (Bike: 22 days)

  1683   km   (~ 77 km  per day)

What is in a name? Our Odyssey, the original Odyssey.

From the soaring Byzantine dome of the Aya Sofya in Istanbul, across the glittering island studded Mediterranean, to Odysseus´ home Ithaca in the Ionian Islands. 'The Odyssey' is true to its origins (besides its 10 year duration!) and the modern day definition of the word. Stage 1 starts in continent spanning Istanbul. From this city of cities, we depart via the Bosphorus south towards Troy, the historic and legendary starting point for Odysseus' famed journey home. Turkey is heralded for its beautiful coastlines and rugged interior, the The Cycling Tour of Turkey (the rider's favourite UCI World event) is known for the same spectacular scenery. Taking in Gallipoli and Ephesus, castles and ancient temples, our historical journey spans the ages. We finish our Turkish adventure on the stunning Bodrum Peninsula which shows this country off at its most staggeringly beautiful - sweeping sandy beaches hugging a steep rocky coastline, gently caressed by jade waters, backed by forest-blanketed slopes dotted with ancient settlements. Scenery doesn't get much better!

As we step onto our luxury gulets, our homes for the coming week, you will be amazed at their beauty - and their ability to support us on an island hopping adventure taking in the very best of Greek Island living! We finish Stage 1 cruising the Dodecanese islands, Kalymnos, Kos, Symi, Nisiros and Rhodes rolling on our bikes along ancient pathways, never for long without a view of the azure Mediterranean waters, feasting on deck in between swims in the Mediterranean!

Stage 2 begins in the modern and ancient capital of Greece, Athens. After a day of touring and exploring where democracy was born we head deep inland, but don't worry, we will board a boat again as we finish with the irresistible Ionian Islands - famous for their cycling pedigree, history and beauty! Although one of our favourite cities for its amazing history, we are glad to mount our bikes and depart Athens heading west across the Corinthian Canal onto the Peloponnese, with magnificent archaeology at Epidaurus, Mycenae - home of Agamemnon - and Nemea the vine and olive clad hills make for amazing riding as we ride Gulf to Gulf, Argos to Corinth. Crossing the later we pause under the genuinely epic Delphi...but not for long as continue our Odyssey west via Venetian harbour towns and five star hotel. Then, to the Ionian Islands we ride - first Kefalonia, which has its very own Mont Ventoux called Mount Einos! This island is hard to beat for cycling, even considering where we have come from. After circumnavigating our penultimate isle we then head to Odysseus' 3000 year old home Ithaca where we celebrate completing our modern day Odyssey.

19. English/German Guide in Moscow

What travelers are saying.

AnnfromSF

  • Moscow Bike Tours
  • Andrey Antonenko

There is a variety of sightseeing programs for tourists who want to see Moscow and to visit the most interesting places.

The choice is really wide: there are options for walking tours, bus tours, some people prefer boat trips in the city centre, but most travellers get acquainted with the sights of the capital by themselves, taking advantage of the subway or taxi.

We provide tourists with new urban bikes and riding them is a pure pleasure.

We individually make up the tour with a tourist: you can choose standard routes or select places you want to visit.

Our instructors know the history of Moscow and they can tell you fascinating, unusual and interesting stories, you will learn a lot about the culture, customs and architecture. We often organize bicycle tours and excursions not only for tourists but also for Muscovites.

We provide guided tours in almost any weather: of course, if it is raining cats and dogs, poor visibility because of hail or a strong blizzard that can blow cyclist with the bicycle away, we don't go to the routes. In all other cases, bike tours are on: just get dressed for the weather, arm yourself with a good mood and hit the road with us!

We provide guided tours in English, Russian and Spanish. Our sense of humour knows no language boundaries and we are certain to find common ground with tourists of all ages, nationalities and social status as all the information is delivered in an easy manner and it's nothing like boring lectures from history textbooks.

Our instructors ride across Moscow every day, they know all bikeways and main routes so that they will navigate you through the best places. You can make any number of stops: get impressions, take pictures - you are not limited by anything, we are not in a hurry during the bike tours (this is an important advantage over the bus and walking tours, which are strictly time scheduled and there are just a few minutes to see monuments).

All inclusive: bike rental (chosen individually) and guide escort. Please note that we provide a 15% discount for the seniors, students and children.

We do advise to book the tour in advance for the date of your choice: our bike tours are very popular; sometimes we have a “red-ink booking” one week in advance, so you’d better to pre-book the time.

Payment for bike tour can be done by credit card or in cash on the day of the tour as well as before the scheduled date.

An interesting and intense program for tourists who like fresh air, fountains, beautiful avenues, hills, ponds and lush green areas.

All of Moscow's parks are made ready for biking and you would not have to overcome obstacles, rocky trailways and make extra effort for the passage of clayey roads.

Gorky Park - Peter the Great Statue - Neskuchny Garden - Sparrow Hills - Luzhniki - Sparrow Hills Observation Platform - Moscow State University - Novodevichy Convent - Church of St. Nicholas in Khamovniki - Christ the Savior Cathedral - Alexander Gardens.

A fascinating journey for those who fancy night-lights, high speeds and the beauty of the night sky. Moscow in the evening attracts cyclists and many take to the routes only at nightfall because, firstly, there are fewer pedestrians on sidewalks (which allows to ride at a higher speed), and secondly, night roads are totally different after the sunset.

Bolotnaya Square - Peter the Great Statue - Sparrow Hills - Neskuchny Garden - embankment of the Moscow River - Luzhniki – Observation platform - Novodevichy Convent - White House - Ministry of Foreign Affairs –Old Arbat - Gogol Boulevard - Christ the Savior Cathedral - Patriarchal bridge.

Do you want to see all the major attractions, parks, ponds, fountains, architectural masterpieces, unique skyscrapers of Moscow City, historical monuments, to plunge into the history and see the present day potentialities of the city?

If so, then you should go on the grand cycling tour that will gift you many experiences and allow you to see the places Moscow is so famous for. We are sure you will remember much of what you will have seen and in the future, you will go through the photos taken during this bicycle tour only with pleasure.

Red Square - Saint Basil's Cathedral - Bolshoi Theater - Kotelnicheskaya Embankment Building - Boulevard Ring - Clean Ponds - Sretensky Monastery - Patriarch's Ponds - Ostozhenka - Old Arbat - Novodevichy Convent - Luzhniki - Sparrow Hills - Moscow State University - Neskuchny Garden - Gorky Park - Muzeon - Christ the Savior Cathedral - Peter the Great Statue.

See off the day at sunset and greet the dawn at the most exciting venues in Moscow where stunning views open over the city. The very first and the last rays of the sun illuminate the capital quite out of the ordinary, and therefore some cyclists go for a ride at twilight or early in the morning. You also have the opportunity to witness two unique events: falling asleep and waking up of the city. Well, actually even late at night Moscow is constantly on the move, but of course, it's not the same as during the day.

The main point for cyclists is the absence of pedestrians on sidewalks that allows for any speed and racing on the roads at night without any problems. In the city centre cafes and cosy street restaurants are welcomingly open all the time and we can pop in to any place our liking to take a rest, have a coffee or a bite.

Red Square - KGB - Peter the Great Statue - Bolotnaya Square - Sparrow Hills - Observation platform - Novodevichy Convent - Cathedral of Christ the Savior - White House - Patriarch's Ponds - Tverskaya street - Arbat and, optionally, night bookstore "Moscow", bars, cafes, etc.

Life’s most inspiring experiences rarely happen in your living room

“As night crept in, the tour buses departed, and our group was alone in this incredible place. I have never seen so many stars, and in their light I could see joy radiating on the faces of my new-found friends.” Special experiences like these are at the heart of every Odysseys Unlimited tour and why so many guests choose to travel with us again and again.

America's Leader in Small Group Travel

Delivering high quality and outstanding value, a tradition of excellence.

Since 1989, we've created custom-designed tours for more than 100 of America's most prestigious non-profit organizations. Now we've put our expertise to work on a wider scale by making our tours available to all travelers, while continuing to serve our client institutions.

Small Groups of Just 12 to 24 Guests, Carefully Designed Itineraries, and an Appropriate Pace of Travel

Each of our tours is custom-designed specifically for small groups, with a balanced mix of traveling, sightseeing, cultural encounters, and free time. Most important, we limit our tour membership to just 12 to 24 guests, both for the freedom, flexibility, and camaraderie that small groups engender, and also so guests may enjoy a more personal and authentic travel experience. We show you the highlights -- and the unexpected. And we generally spend at least two nights in most places, and sometimes as many as four, so you won't be run ragged changing hotels every day.

A Diverse Selection of Tours

We offer a diverse array of tours throughout the world, ranging in length from 10 to 22 days: Europe on and off the beaten path; barge and private yacht cruises; adventures in Africa and the Middle East; discoveries in Asia and the Far East; far-reaching journeys to the Americas, Australia, and the South Pacific — all with unique features available only to small groups.

Extensive Included Sightseeing — and No Hidden Costs

Our tours include a great deal of thoughtful and engaging sightseeing and activities, from museum tours, cooking classes, and scenic excursions to home visits, musical performances, and wine tastings. In major cities you'll usually have time to explore on your own after a guided city tour. And traveling from one destination to another isn't always just a transfer, it's an added opportunity to visit a special village, historic site, or ancient ruin.

Hotels: Excellent Quality and Location

Since accommodations comprise an important aspect of your trip, we've gone to great lengths to select hotels that meet our standards of high quality, convenient location, and excellent service. From superb hotels in major cities to unique or historic lodgings too small for conventional tour groups of 40 or more, these hotels promise to enhance your enjoyment and comfort throughout your trip.

Our Tour Directors Make the Difference

We believe that personal attention is key to an outstanding travel experience, so we've ensured that it's a hallmark of all Odysseys Unlimited tours. Our professional Tour Directors rank among the best in the business; their love of travel is surpassed only by their desire to share their enthusiasm and knowledge with others. And a small group means your Tour Director will have more time to spend with you and more time to share the personal insights that can add so much to your experience. This helps make your trip genuinely special -- and different from conventional tours.

We use scheduled airline service on major commercial airlines worldwide. Business Class and Premium Economy upgrades on select international flights are available on request. We also offer low-cost domestic connecting flights to your gateway city.

Octoodyssey 2.0 Adventure 2023

Today is the day that I finally completed my incredible journey across the Americas! It’s been an entire year, five months, and nine days of hard work, determination, and adventure to reach this momentous goal. I spent ten months and ten days on the road, making sure to take

For my penultimate day, I have a good forecast of slight tailwinds and a high of 13 under partly cloudy skies. The distance today is 108 km to Tolhuin. Yesterday’s currency exchange went very quickly. The first store we asked told us to go to the corner office and

From the North to the South, the Pacific to the Atlantic I am now ready to finish Octogenarian Odyssey 2.0. Yesterday the winds cooperated and it was relatively smooth sailing across the sea of grass here in Terra del Fuego. Even the crosswinds permitted me to hold my line

I started the day as planned and drove back to the stopping point the day prior, I managed to get in 11.1k before the gale force winds forced me to stop. I tried walking and pushing the bike but the cross winds would not permit me to do so.

I am in a rush today so I can start riding before the wind decides to get up and start blowing as hard as it can. I managed to get in 140k yesterday before the wind was too strong to ride. Again it wanted to blow me into the

We are about to leave Puerto Natales, Chile, another nice town located on the coast and in the mountains. Johana took the day to go to the famous Torres Del Pines National Park to see the famous peaks. Myself and Gloria had too much to do with changing money

After dealing with my money issues two days ago in El Calafate, Gloria and I decided to treat ourselves and go to an elegant Argentina restaurant. We went to Mako’s on Main Street, where several customers were dining outside and enjoying the sun even though it was relatively cool.

Yesterday, worked out just fine as I made my way to El Calafate, Argentina. The last 25k was into the wind, so I traveled between 13 and 17kph. The rest of the way, I had a good tailwind. For the last 2.5 weeks, I have had the road almost

When we were staying in Tres Lagos, the locals told us there was nothing in La Leona. So I decided to ride straight through to El Calafate, a distance of 165k. I was hoping the wind would cooperate and I would fly like the condors all day long. My

Sponsorship and financing opportunities for octogenarian odyssey: the third continent.

I am grateful for the tremendous support I have received for my past adventures, and I am excited to invite you to join me on my upcoming journey across Europe for Octogenarian Odyssey: The Third Continent. Your continued support is invaluable, and I would like to outline various ways in which you can be involved in this new and exciting endeavor.

  • Sponsorship Opportunities: The success of Octogenarian Odyssey 1 and 2 has fueled my enthusiasm for this new European adventure. I am seeking quality companies to partner with and support me in achieving my goals. By sponsoring Octogenarian Odyssey: The Third Continent, your company will gain exposure across various media platforms and be associated with a unique and inspiring journey.
  • Donate and Receive: You can contribute to Octogenarian Odyssey 3.0 by making a donation through our website, octoodyssey.com. Your generous donations will go directly towards financing the upcoming expedition. As a token of our appreciation, donors will have the opportunity to receive free tee shirts or hoodies, demonstrating our gratitude for your support.
  • Join me on the Odyssey: I am once again extending an invitation for individuals to join me on specific sections of Octogenarian Odyssey: The Third Continent. Whether you are interested in cycling alongside me for a couple of weeks or several months, please refer to the attached day-by-day itinerary and feel free to email or message me if you are interested in participating in this unique adventure.
  • Support my Book: The success of my first book, “Octogenarian Odyssey: “Trading the Sofa for a Bicycle Seat,” has been instrumental in my journey, and the proceeds from the book have been pivotal in financing my expeditions. By purchasing the first book, you will not only enjoy an inspiring read but also contribute to the publishing of my second book, “Octogenarian Odyssey 2.0: I Can’t Stop Pedaling,” which will document my South American adventure. The book is available for purchase on Apple and Amazon.
  • Investment Opportunities: I am in the process of creating documentaries for Octogenarian Odyssey 1 and South America. There are opportunities for interested investors to financially support these projects and earn interest or profit sharing. By investing in these documentaries, you will have the chance to be a part of the journey and share in the success of these compelling storytelling endeavors.
  • If you are involved with a streaming service or a television network the film rights are available.

I am thrilled to be embarking on this new adventure, and I am eager to have your continued support. Whether through sponsorship, donations, participation in the Odyssey, support for my book, or investment in the documentaries, your involvement will be instrumental in making the documentation of my eighth decade the Octogenarian Odyssey a successful social experiment. Thank you for your ongoing support, and I look forward to the opportunity to collaborate with you on this exciting journey.
