Upmarket, tailored holidays and adventures in wonderful locations throughout Asia, Africa, South America and so on. We have travelled with UTC three time in the last two years and have been more than impressed every time. Each of our itineraries (2 in India and 1 in Kenya/Zanzibar) was well-thought out and allowed us to see all we wanted, whilst giving us time to relax as well. Seamless organisation by ground staff at all locations. At times we felt like royalty as we were whisked through crowds, got the inside view and learnt from locals keen to share their local treasures and special places. Everywhere we have stayed with UTC has been stylish, from tented bush camp to exclusive boutique hotel. Highly recommended!

Specialtours is an established leader in the field of escorted tours for museums, cultural and garden associations.

Our reputation rests to a great extent on tours to Europe with exclusive private visits to houses, art collections and gardens, thanks to a network of contacts established over many years. Special visits include privileged out-of-hours access to museums, hosted lunches or dinners at private homes and the opportunity to watch expert restorers at work. We can arrange some exclusive visits for your group, such as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to admire the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel – or the mosaics of St Mark’s Basilica in Venice – without the crowds.

We aim to offer the perfect balance between a study tour and a holiday or vacation. In addition to imaginative and carefully-planned itineraries focusing on art, archaeology, architecture, history and gardens, we can offer walking or painting trips, wine and gastronomy tours and wildlife safaris.

Specialtours is part of The Ultimate Travel Company. Our expertise in art-orientated tours in Europe, the Middle East and the United States is complemented by Ultimate’s experience in destinations such as Africa, India, South America and South-East Asia.

Our clients range from American museums, alumni/ae associations, clubs and garden societies, to a European cultural heritage foundation. We always tailor-make the itinerary to our client’s specific interests in order to offer a unique experience.

Our forthcoming tours include a study of the decorative arts of Portugal, a tour of the great country houses of Ireland, a week in Madrid focusing on the rich royal heritage and an exploration of the inspirational art, architecture and design of Sweden. We will be admiring gardens from the Mediterranean to Normandy and the Loire Valley, from the south of England to the Scottish Highlands. Also forthcoming are tours of the landscape and gardens of exotic Morocco and the private gardens of The Cape, one of the six ‘floral kingdoms’ of the world.

As ever, we are planning a number of tours to Italy – from the gardens of the Italian Lakes and Sicily to the Grand Tour in Florence, plus a return to ‘La Serenissima’ focusing on music. Looking ahead, we are planning cultural tours of Burgundy and the Rhone Valley, Greece, The Netherlands and the Thames Valley. Further afield, we will be exploring the enchanting kingdom of Bhutan and Japan, both for the art, architecture and design and for the unique and influential garden scene.

We return to ‘La Serenissima’, city of Monteverdi, for a joyous week of Baroque music and art, with special performances and private visits.

Appreciate the evolution of Scandinavian art and design and the inspirational light and landscape, visiting historic royal palaces, elegant private homes, museums and contemporary sculpture parks.

Isolated from the outside world for centuries, Bhutan exudes enchantment for the modern traveller, with its majestic scenery and ancient ancestral traditions.

One of our most rewarding horticultural destinations, Normandy offers a range of styles from the classic French formal garden to some original and inspiring modern gardens.

Really an excellent, interesting trip with an amazing array of sights and activities … the personal encounters with actual residents in their homes were outstanding and memorable

Places To Visit In Moscow: The Ultimate Guide

Russia is one of those places that are in the news constantly for one reason or another. Back in 2018, the country was on everybody’s radar because of the World Cup, which took place in 11 Russian cities. Moscow is one of them.

Even though most people just stay in the city for a couple of days and stay in the area around the Kremlin and the Red Square, there’s more to the city, so today I will show you the top places to visit in Moscow .

Unlike St Petersburg which is a very European city (check out here the top things to do in St Petersburg , by the way!), Moscow is a truly Russian city in every sense of the word.

It’s the political, economic and cultural capital and where people from all corners of the former Soviet Union travel to or migrate for work. The city is covered in grand historical buildings, museums amazing hotels and cool cafes and restaurants.

Also: Best Hotels In Moscow: Options For Every Budget

But before I tell you about the top things to do in Moscow , let’s just clear a few important points that need to be tackled. Shall we?

Table of Contents

Places To Visit In Moscow: Things To Do Any Time Of The Year

Moscow has enough attractions to keep you busy for a whole week and more. Many of the top things to do in Moscow are within walking distance of the Kremlin. Others are just a metro ride away.

The Moscow metro system is very reliable and covers the entire city, and is the 4th longest in the world, with 12 lines, 214 stations and 365km (226.7 miles) long. Now check out my ultimate guide to the best places to visit in Moscow and things to do in the city.

Cruise On The Moskva River

When in Moscow, one of the things I would highly recommend you do is a cruise on the Moskva River.

The river that gave the name to the city (Moskvá is Moscow in Russian) crisscrosses the city and I find it interesting how many people come here and don’t go on a daytime or evening cruise .

Most cruises depart from the pier by Gorky Park and some services pick you up at the hotel.

Top things to do in Moscow

Things To Do In Moscow With Kids

Moscow is actually a child-friendly city and there are a number of things to do in Moscow with kids. Out of the attractions I mentioned above, the most child-friendly places I would consider are:

– Red Square, with plenty of space for kids to run around.

– G.U.M. Department store, which has some toy stores, colorful decoration and delicious ice-creams.

– Izmailovo Kremlin with its small amusement park, colorful buildings, children’s theater.

– Gorky Park is a great place to bring the kids and it’s easy to walk around if you have a buggy (pushchair). Kids will love the gardens, the fountains and the food carts available everywhere.

– The Museum of Cosmonautics is probably the most child-friendly of all attractions above, especially for older kids.

– The Moscow Planetarium has many interactive exhibits where children can do some science experiments.

Is It Safe To Travel To Moscow?

Yes, Moscow is a very safe city. Despite everything you see on the press, there are no tanks around the streets, no mean army men asking what you’re doing in the city.

Petty crime has declined enormously and walking around late at night is safe. Of course, in such a huge city, it’s important to take all precautions you would take when in New York, London or Rio de Janeiro. But overall, it is safe to travel to Moscow, by all means.

Just be aware that in less touristy areas, you will come across drunk locals and they might want to interact with you. By “interacting”,  I also mean they will probably bother you. So, better keep your bearings and discreetly steer away from heavily drunk people on the streets.

There used to be some police scams when they would stop you, ask to see your passport and request some money to give it back to you. That’s disappeared 99%, I would say.

One thing to say, though: do not drink alcohol on the streets or public parks . Just don’t. You will see a lot of Russians doing that, but remember that this is illegal and it is more likely that police will pick on you.

Just to make it very clear, no matter how many Russians you see doing that, avoid that! Just to illustrate it, a couple of years ago, two friends of mine were taken to a police station for drinking in public. Otherwise, yes, it is definitely safe to travel to Moscow.

Best Time To Travel To Moscow

When it comes to the best time to travel to Moscow, it all depends on your personal preferences. But that doesn’t answer the question.

Spring: Spring is a good time to visit Moscow, when temperatures are getting better during the day, the snow has melted and the gardens and parks are getting prettier.

Summer : This is the best time to travel to Moscow, in my opinion. The city is generally hot (every time I travel to Moscow in summer I get a tan!), the parks are packed with Russians having a picnic, there are a number of concerts all around the city and the whole atmosphere is positive.

Fall/Autumn : With dropping temperatures, there will be fewer tourists around, the best theaters are back in season and temperatures are still in the low teens up to early November (roughly). After that, you can already get some snow and temperatures of up to -5C (23F).

Winter : It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Moscow is freezing cold in winter. It snows often, so bring with you some heavy winter clothes, thick gloves and non-slippery shoes. Despite everything, the lowest temperature I’ve ever got in Moscow in winter was -20C (-4F).

There are a number of ice-skate rinks around the city, Christmas Markets on Red Square stays open until late January and if you’re looking for a winter wonderland, this is it. Also, it’s important to remember that Russians celebrate Christmas on January 7th, just to get the dates right. The celebrations really start on New Year’s Eve.

Tours In Moscow And Vicinity

Moscow, like any of the major world capitals, really has a huge number of attractions in the city itself and the surrounding areas. While it’s always possible to move around and do things independently, there are also a number of tours with English-speaking guides available.

If that’s something you’re considering for your trip to Moscow, here is a link to our partner Get Your Guide, with the most comprehensive list of sightseeing tours in Moscow and vicinity.

17 Exciting Things to do in Moscow

Written By: Linda Voltaire

Updated On: December 21, 2022

Visiting Russia? These are the top 17 things to do in Moscow to help you plan your trip.

If the western world has New York City , the first great metropolis on the eastern side of our planet is Moscow. A huge city with a complicated and impressive history, Moscow gets a bad rep over Russian politics – but that doesn’t make it any less impressive. Capital to the largest country in the world, Moscow takes the grandeur of its standing very seriously.

This is a place where luxury is king and where opulence takes a front seat in every aspect of life. The buildings are grand and imposing, the parks are luscious and enormous, and even the subway stations look different in Moscow than anywhere else in the world.

Table of Contents

Best Things to do in Moscow, Russia

Walking around Moscow is also going through the tumultuous history of the 20th century, which had Russia as one of its main protagonists. There are fascinating remains of these times everywhere in the former Soviet capital, from the gorgeous Seven Sisters skyscrapers to the Orthodox cathedrals that were closed for the better part of a century.  Still, Moscow is also a completely modern city, with a vibrant social and party scene, incredible restaurants, and some of the most luxurious hotels in the world.

After living in Russia’s capital as an ex-pat for four years, I got the privilege to experience not only the main attractions in Moscow but also the everyday life in this huge city and quickly found my sweat spots off the beaten tracks! So here is my list of my top 17 things to do in this exciting metropolis!

Attractions in Moscow

When visiting a famous city like this one, it’s a must to go through the most iconic landmarks first. Moscow has plenty of those, most of them in the center of the city, which is very well-planned for tourists.

1. The Red Square, Kremlin & Surrounding Area

No place tells the story of Moscow’s power in the past century the way the Red Square does. This is where the biggest political meetings in the USSR occurred for many decades, and you can feel the power on each step.

Here, you’ll also find the historic museum at the entrance, showcasing the decades of history behind this iconic landmark. The Lenin Mausoleum, perhaps the most famous resting place in the world and home to the remains of the former communist leader, is also here.

On one side of the Red Square you’ll find the Kremlin, the fortified complex that now hosts the presidential residence. This is also home to the most iconic of all Moscovite landmarks: St. Basil’s Cathedral, a 16th-century marvel of colors. This is the best spot to take a selfie and show the world you’ve reached the Russian capital!

  • Get your Kremlin Skip the Line Tickets and Kremlin tour here.
  • Free cancellation up to 24-hours in advance of the tour.

2. Bolshoi Theatre

You can easily spend a couple of days just exploring the Moscovite city centre, and the Bolshoi Theatre should be your second stop. Walk past the Red Square and then head to the nearby Bolshoi Theatre, one of the oldest and most renowned houses of opera and ballet on Earth.

Visit for the impressive early 19th-century architecture, but if you’re seeing a ballet performance, make sure you book between 3 and 6 months in advance! I can strongly recommend this as it is a truly unique experience!

  • Book a private 2-hour tour of the legendary Bolshoi Theatre.
  • See the presidential box reserved for tzars, watch a rehearsal and skip the lines through a separate entrance.
  • Free Cancellation up to 24-hours in advance.

3. Luxury Shopping at GUM and TSUM

While many might think of Moscow as the sad place with the long bread queues from the USSR days, it’s been quite the capitalist haven for a while.

If you’re up for some shopping, you’ll find one of the biggest luxury malls in town, TSUM, right behind the Bolshoi and GUM, at the red square. GUM is the most famous department store in town, where you’ll find luxury everywhere and all high-end brand.

All in an imposing late 19th-century building with lots of history, worth a visit just for the design, its bridges and the glass roof even though you are not up for shopping!

4. Christ the Savior Cathedral

A newer addition to the gorgeous Moscovite cathedrals and my grandeur neighbor during my years in the city Don’t let the young age of this building fool you. After the perestroika in the early 90s, the newly revived Russian Orthodox Church received permission to build a cathedral on this site. They did the location honors and built the largest temple of the Christian Orthodox Church.

The façade is as grand as you’d expect, but it’s the inside that will mesmerize you, with its domes as tall as the skies in bright gold and gorgeous paintings and decor! Bring a shawl to cover your hair to adjust to the local tradition.

Head to the back of the cathedral and you will find one of the most photographed bridges in Moscow, the Patriarshiy Most. This is the perfect spot to get a good view and photo of the cathedral but also to see the Kreml and Gorky Park from a distance. Or why not just enjoy a moment watching the river and its boats!

  • Get around Moscow with ease using the Hop On Hop Off boat and Bus ticket. 24, 48 or 72-hour tickets available.

5. Gorky Park

Cross the river and head to Gorky Park along the Moscow river. The most famous green area in town, similar to New York ’s Central Park and the weekend hangout for locals. There are many beautiful parks in the city, but if you’re only visiting for a few days, this is the unmissable one!

With fair attractions to entertain children, beautiful artificial lakes and gardens, and lots of outdoor activities, it’s a lovely place to relax. A place of rest in the middle of the metropolis. The area in front of the New Tretyakov Gallery & the Muzeon Park of Arts is actually one of my favorite oasis as a bit more quiet and peaceful than Gorky itself.

Why not spend some time in the museum to get a great tour of Russia’s history through art or just enjoy the art exhibition outside where local artists spend their weekends.

6. River Cruising

One of the best ways to experience Moscow is from the Moscow River. There are many stops for the boats and one is just next to Gorky Park. See the city from another perspective – and turn the ride into a romantic one by taking the evening cruise. Moscow is magic during the night.

If you’re looking for a truly luxurious experience, take the Radisson Blu cruise – or the Erwin for a delicious seafood dinner. Both stop at Gorky or at the luxury Radisson Royal Hotel, set in one of the Seven Sister’s skyscrapers.

  • We use Get Your Guide when booking city tours and they offer a River Sightseeing Cruise seeing all the main tourist attractions in Moscow

7. Metro Hopping

First inaugurated in the 1930s, the Moscow subway system is one of the oldest in the world, and certainly the most beautiful. Started under Stalinist times, each metro station is dedicated to grandeur and oozing personality.

Visiting the subway stops is an attraction in and of itself, and Komsomolskaya, Mayakovskaya, Kropotkinskaya are my favorites. Those surrounding the Red Square are also mesmerizing – in general, these are kind of like underground palaces.

Most of the signs at the Moscow Metro now have Latin letters, so it’s very easy to get around!Unfortunately, the trains are not as beautiful and pleasant as the stations but still, this is a true Moscow experience.  Take a guided tour of the 9 most beautiful Metro Stations including the award-winning art deco station. See more details here.

8. Arbatskaya & Artsy Moscow

Novy Arbat Street is one of the most touristy areas in the city, with lots of shops and cafés directed at visitors. When you walk a little beyond, you’ll find a different part of town, where the hip scene thrives because so many artists live in the area. Just follow the small streets with fewer tourists!

9. Moscow State University View

In his effort to create a grander Moscow, Stalin had seven skyscrapers built in different parts of town; they’re called the Seven Sisters. The largest of these buildings hosts the main building of the Moscow State University, one of the most prestigious colleges in Russia – and the one with the best view.

Although this is a little outside the city centre, the sight from above is more than worth it, with the nearby fountains and park and then the whole of the city behind them.

10. Russian Market

If you love to visit markets wherever you go, Moscow has one of the most impressive ones in the world – the Izmailovsky. You can easily take the metro here and feel like you’ve been transported to another time.

This place was first built in the 16th century and retains the look of an old fairytale, with a lineup of colorful old castle. A lovely local experience beyond the confines of the bustling metropolis, where you can also try some delicious Russian barbecue.

Here, you’ll find beautiful souvenirs at great prices.

Off The Beaten Track Moscow

Once you’ve covered the most touristic spots, Moscow still has plenty to offer – and the places below will also be full of locals! Moscow is a city for hipsters, full of trendy and arty spots where you can literally feel the creativity oozing! So for some local vibes, I would strongly recommend my sweat spots below!

11. Patriarshiye Prudy

This is my favorite area in the entire city! While Moscow is generally a very noisy metropolis, Patriarch Ponds is far quieter, yet such a vibrant place. This is a very hip and trendy area making you think you are rather in Paris than in Moscow. Here the streets are narrow and full of chic eateries and clubs to see the local crowd.

A little bohemian and with an air of peace you won’t find anywhere in the city this is a great spot to spend an afternoon with your thoughts.

12. ArtPlay

Barely 15 minutes away from the city center you’ll find the artsiest Moscow district: ArtPlay. For decades, this block was a factory, but it was renovated to become a hub for the arts not too long ago.

Now, you’ll find it’s full of exhibitions, showrooms and art schools – and some of the most creative people in town. Writers, painters, and young hip people use ArtPlay as a rendezvous, and you can feel the creative energy here. The industrial design with modern interior decoration is also a feast for the eyes!

13. Shopping Local Designs

If you’re into design, both international and local, you’ll find lots of cute things at Patriarshiye Prudy. Department store Podium Market is also a great spot for shopping, as a department store everywhere in town, with lots of local and international brands. There’s one in the Four Seasons Hotel next to Red Square. My favorite Moscow mall is Tsvetnoy Central Market, a cool spot with great brands, lots of inspo, and even a cute café!

14. Moscow City

Like many other great capitals of the world, for the past few decades, Moscow has hosted a super modern area full of modern skyscrapers – Moscow City. With a completely different vibe than the rest of town, it’s like a mini Dubai, with lots of impressively tall glass buildings. Here, you’ll find the best rooftops in towns, such as Ruski and Sixty they are perfect spots for dining or enjoying a glass of wine with a view. There are also a relatively new shopping mall with lots of international brands called Affimall!

Wine, Dine, and Party in Moscow

Gone are the gloomy Moscow days – cold as it might be in the winter, Russia’s capital is a place for the senses. Great food and drinks abound – and the clubs are hot, too!

15. Where to Eat in Moscow

Moscow is a great metropolis where people love to dine out, and there are endless options for delicious food. The flavors are as diverse as you’d expect from a big city, with options of fine dining and little hipster eateries.

  • For traditional Russian flavors, I can’t recommend Café Pushkin, Dr. Zhivago, and Turnadot enough.
  • When looking for international cuisines, Italian is always the way to go, and my local favorite is Probka.
  • Fine dining is best done among the clouds at White Rabbit, with European flavors.
  • As for the hip spots, you can spend a full day just eating around trendy places, from burgers to Asian fusion.

More Dining Options

  • Patriarshiye Prudy offers a lot of small and classy spots with cool concepts, like breakfast restaurants I Love Cake and Fresh.
  • For dinner, I love the NYC experience of Saxon & Parole, and the wonderful trendy Pins, with its delicious food and drinks.
  • For delicious Asian food head to CutFish.
  • Lastly, there’s a recent revival of food markets in Moscow, offering lots of great choices of international flavors at affordable places.
  • Don’t miss out the Vietnamese food stand at the Danilovsky market, and everything at Usachevsky!

16. Rooftopping

Big cities deserve to be seen from above, having a cocktail among the clouds. These are my recommendations for rooftop bars in Moscow.

  • As I mentioned in the Moscow City section, Sixty & Ruski are two of my favorites, overlooking the newest part of town.
  • White Rabbit and its fine dining is also a lovely place for a fun dinner looking down on Moscow.
  • O2, in the city center, has an advantage above all others: amazing views of the Red Square.
  • Buono, above the Radisson Royal Hotel, might be the most romantic rooftop hotel in town, with its candlelit setting.
  • Also on the Radisson stands the Mercedes. It’s a luxurious and posh experience with delicious cocktails.
  • The Sky Lounge offers a peculiar experience, mixing an old Soviet building with futuristic additions.

17. Moscow by Night

Party the night away! The city is full of bars everywhere, but there are some areas where you’ll find more than others.

  • Patriarshiye Prudy has lots of hip and small clubs and great bars, including the super fun private club Clava, which has a great vibe and people from all walks of life.
  • For more hipster style bars, Red October is the place to go.
  • Streak is a summer favorite, with a lovely terrace to catch a beautiful sunset – plus, their mozzarella bar is delicious.
  • At night, Red October lights up with clubs everywhere, including the cool rooftop one Gipsy.
  • Jagger is also a great spot during summer with a more relaxed vibe in garden setting.
  • For the traditional Russian luxury experience, go to SohoRooms, a whole other world including all-night go-go dancers.

There are so many things to do in Moscow at night and during the day, you definitely need several days to explore this exciting destination.

Moscow is a must-see city, a city like no other ! I hope you will enjoy this Russian metropolis as much as I did!

Nice article. Love the hidden gems and graffiti art, would love to visit Artplay. Thanks for a comprehensive guide to Moscow!

Moscow is a city where the past and the future live side by side. Here we can find everything from medieval fortresses and Soviet monoliths to glass skyscrapers and innovation centers.

Your article is good and meaningful .

Thanks for sharing about ArtPlay district, we didn’t know about it and it looks amazing 🙂 Hopefully there’ll be a second time in Moscow, we visited last May and really liked the city!

Wonderful stuff! I’ve been to Moscow, but not properly – it’s a long story lol!

Anyhoo, my next thing is to fly from Berlin to Moscow and then travel from there to Beijing via the Trans-Mongolian / Trans-Siberian train. Now, if only I could just find the time …!

I hear Moscow is very beautiful at night. I hope to get out there one day. A friend of mine went to St. Petersburg and had a great experience. Despite all the tension we see on the news with Russia and other Countries like the U.S. I wonder what the sentiment is with Russians and foreigners visiting their country for tourism. Especially Americans.

that looks like quite a beautiful place. 🙂

Chase Ultimate Rewards Transfer Partners 2024

T he offers and details on this page may have updated or changed since the time of publication. See our article on Business Insider for current information.

Our experts answer readers' credit card questions and write unbiased product reviews ( here's how we assess credit cards ). In some cases, we receive a commission from our partners ; however, our opinions are our own. Terms apply to offers listed on this page.

The information for the following product(s) has been collected independently by Business Insider: Chase Freedom Flex℠. The details for these products have not been reviewed or provided by the issuer.

  • Chase Ultimate Rewards partners with 11 airlines and 3 hotel loyalty programs.
  • Transferring points to travel partners is the best way to maximize the value of your Chase rewards.
  • Several Chase credit cards earn Ultimate Rewards, including the popular Chase Sapphire Preferred.

When you use a Chase credit card , you're paying for purchases in dollars, but all your spending helps you rack up another kind of currency: Chase Ultimate Rewards® points.

Chase Ultimate Rewards points are some of the most valuable credit card rewards you can earn. Chase Ultimate Rewards are transferable points , which means you can move them over to various airline and hotel partner programs to book travel, in addition to the option of booking through the Chase Ultimate Rewards travel portal or using points toward eligible everyday purchases through Pay Yourself Back .

Maximizing Chase points requires knowing when and with whom you should redeem them. While you can use Chase Ultimate Rewards points to make purchases and pay for travel directly through the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal, it's possible to significantly increase their value by transferring them to one of Chase's travel partners.

Chase Transfer Partners: The Basics

Chase has 14 travel transfer partners: 11 airline frequent flyer programs and three hotel programs.

Chase Ultimate Rewards Transfer Partners

Aer lingus aerclub, air canada aeroplan.

  • Air France-KLM Flying Blue

British Airways Executive Club

Emirates skywards, iberia plus, jetblue trueblue, singapore airlines krisflyer, southwest airlines rapid rewards, united mileageplus, virgin atlantic flying club.

  • IHG Rewards Club

Marriott Bonvoy

World of hyatt.

Chase lets you transfer points at a 1:1 ratio in 1,000-point increments, and those transfers typically happen instantly (that's important for making sure you can grab an award flight or an award stay before it's gone). There are a few exceptions, though, and we've noted those in our breakdown of each partner below.

The value of those points can vary widely depending on where you want to go in the world and when you plan to travel. So, the best approach with Chase Ultimate Rewards is to be meticulous. Comparing all your options on departure/arrival dates and resort locations can help you figure out how to harness the most power from each of your points.

Chase Ultimate Rewards points are worth 1.8 cents apiece, on average, according to Business Insider's points and miles valuations  — but the exact value you'll get depends on how you redeem your points.

Also, be sure to keep a close eye on your email for alerts from Chase or these travel companies about exclusive offers, such as transfer bonuses, that can get you cheaper redemptions on flights and hotel stays.

How to Earn Chase Ultimate Rewards Points

You'll need to earn Chase Ultimate Rewards points before you can enjoy transferring them for award travel. Doing that requires having one or more of the best Chase credit cards in your wallet:

Once you start using any of these Chase cards, be sure to browse bonus offers via online shopping portals to maximize your rewards . There are many ways to rack up even more reward points with hundreds of online retailers, and it's a simple way to make every purchase more rewarding.

Also note that you can use Chase's no-annual-fee cards, including the Chase Freedom Unlimited® and the Chase Freedom Flex℠ , to turbo-charge your stash of Chase Ultimate Rewards. That's because as long as you have a "premium" Chase card — like the  Chase Sapphire Reserve®   or Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card — you can move over the rewards you earn from a cash-back Freedom or Ink card to redeem them with transfer partners or simply get more value toward Pay Yourself Back and Chase Ultimate Rewards Travel redemptions.

Chase Ultimate Rewards Airline Transfer Partners

If you're looking to travel to Ireland, Aer Lingus is one of the most convenient places to start your search, and as a Chase transfer partner, it can also be a very valuable way to fly.

The airline's award chart divides travel by zone and peak/off-peak redemptions. Even the most expensive zone (Zone 6, which includes travel between Dublin and Los Angeles, Miami, Orlando, San Francisco, and Seattle) includes one-way tickets for as low as 16,250 Avios.

You can also use Avios to upgrade to business class. The upgrade fee varies between peak and off-peak travel. The good news: Two-thirds of the year is considered off-peak, according to AerClub's 2024 calendar .

Air Canada's Aeroplan loyalty program is Chase's newest airline transfer partner, and it's a great option even if you don't fly Air Canada. Because the airline is part of the Star Alliance, you can redeem Aeroplan points for flights on over 45 alliance and non-alliance partners, including United, Lufthansa, and Etihad.

Award flights in North America start at just 6,000 points, and there are numerous sweet spots for international partner flights as well. You can check  Air Canada's Points Predictor Tool for an estimate of how much specific awards cost.

Air France-KLM Flying Blue

Flying from Los Angeles to Paris takes nearly 11 hours, so a Chase Ultimate Rewards transfer can be especially appealing here. A seat in business class for that journey starts at 67,500 miles. The only thing better than drinking champagne in France is drinking champagne on the way to France in the front of the bus.

And while France may be in the name, there are plenty of other redemption options available via Flying Blue, thanks to partnerships with KLM, Aircalin, GOL, Japan Airlines, Kenya Airways, and SkyTeam.

Sticking with Avios points, let's look at an example of reward travel with British Airways Executive Club . BA is part of the Oneworld alliance, and that alliance — which includes 14 airlines that serve more than 170 countries and territories — can be key to making the most of transferring your points.

If you redeem Avios for British Airways flights, it's hard to get outsized value, due to BA's insanely high fuel surcharges and fees that are tacked on to the points cost. However, there are some sweet spots if you redeem for partner award flights — including flights from the US East Coast to Ireland and the Caribbean, or the US West Coast to Hawaii.

Not one, not two, but three different programs allow you to turn your Chase Ultimate Rewards points into Avios points.

Unfortunately, Iberia's award chart is dominated by "peak" times on the calendar (forget finding a good deal from June through mid-September), but if you're up for a trip in February, March, October, or November, you may be able to find a good way to redeem those points.

Emirates award flights come in three varieties: Saver, Flex, and Flex Plus. The Saver option is, naturally, the lowest cost in terms of points and the best way to maximize the value of your Chase Ultimate Rewards points.

Emirates may be best known for flying to the United Arab Emirates, but transferring your Chase points to miles will let you explore reward options with 15 of its airline partners. For example, you can use 70,000 miles for a round-trip economy ticket between South Korea and the US on Korean Air or 120,000 miles for a one-way ticket in business class on Qantas from Sydney, Australia to Los Angeles.

Even if you only have a few TrueBlue points, you could be able to put them good to use. For example, you can score a one-way ticket from Boston to Fort Lauderdale for just 3,800 points. The ticket is $61, so you're getting 1.6 cents per point.

JetBlue also has a partnership with Hawaiian Airlines, but you'll need to call 800-538-2583 to inquire about availability (which is limited). If you're looking for an island vacation, though, it could be worth picking up the phone. One-way economy seats from the West Coast are just 22,000 points.

The Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer award chart is fairly straightforward and breaks down travel to/from destinations in 13 zones.

On top of those divisions, there are two types of KrisFlyer award tickets: Advantage and Saver. The only "advantage" to Advantage tickets is that you'll find them more frequently. They cost more. You're better off trying to find a Saver option, which starts at 7,500 miles. And if you can somehow stumble into a first-class seat from the East Coast to Singapore for 132,000 miles, do it. That is the definition of high-flying luxury.

Singapore Airlines partners with all of the other major transferable points programs — Amex Membership Rewards , Citi ThankYou Rewards , Capital One miles , and Marriott Bonvoy — so you can pool points from various programs for an award.

Timing alert: It's important to note that transfers for KrisFlyer take longer to process, typically two business days. So you'll need to plan further in advance if this is a transfer that fits your travel needs.

Southwest's reward redemption valuations don't take nearly as much research as other airlines. Instead of thinking about peak and off-peak travel dates and zones, you'll simply look at how much the fare costs in dollars and you'll have a good idea of a comparable cost in Southwest points .

The values are linked. For example, a flight from Chicago to Los Angeles that costs $112 requires 7,566 points, and that same flight one week later runs $313 or 23,556 points. The lower cost has a slightly higher value of 1.4 cents per point. Nothing amazing, but also nothing too complicated.

To get a sense of some of the cheap miles redemptions you can score on United , the airline regularly spotlights award flight deals on its website. For example, 5,000 miles for a ticket from Newark to Orlando, and 22,500 miles for a ticket from Chicago to Honolulu are both enticing offers right now (these change periodically).

You can dig deeper than those highlighted deals (after all, they're spotlighting them because they want to fill the seats) to find more competitive offers, too. Think outside the US borders — United is part of the Star Alliance, which includes 26 airlines that fly all over the world.

You can find some incredible deals with Virgin Atlantic Flying Club points. Even though Virgin Atlantic isn't part of an airline alliance right now, it partners with a number of airlines including Delta, ANA, and Hawaiian Airlines.

Virgin Atlantic joined the SkyTeam alliance in early 2023, opening up award redemptions using Virgin points on any SkyTeam airline.

Award flights on Virgin Atlantic to the UK and beyond can be a good deal, but keep in mind Virgin Atlantic adds high taxes and fees to its own flights.

Chase Ultimate Rewards Hotel Transfer Partners

Ihg one rewards.

From a Holiday Inn Express to a boutique experience at Kimpton Hotel, IHG has loads of properties where you can enjoy an evening without paying any actual cash. However, IHG's points redemption values here aren't anything to write home about.

Sure, it would be great to spend a night at the InterContinental Bangkok or InterContinental Bali, but my searches reveal that redemption rates at IHG properties rarely exceed the 1-cent mark. In that case, you're better off booking a room directly through the Chase Ultimate Rewards travel portal .

No matter where you go, you'll probably find a Marriott property. With 30 brands that range from the high-end world of Ritz-Carlton and St. Regis to limited-service, budget-friendly options like Fairfield Inn and TownePlace Suites, Marriott Bonvoy points can book you a room in a wide range of accommodations.

The catch: It's hard to find a redemption that increases the value of your Chase Ultimate Rewards points. Marriott Bonvoy's award pricing is now dynamic, and I rarely find options that increase the value of Marriott points. There are exceptions, though, proving that you should always do your research.

Timing alert: Bonvoy transfers typically process by the next business day, not immediately.

If you're looking to make the most of your Chase Ultimate Rewards points for a hotel stay, I recommend starting with the World of Hyatt program . In addition to affordable, 5,000-point redemption rates at limited-service properties like Hyatt Place and Hyatt House, this loyalty program has loads of luxurious properties where you can cash in your points for a more meaningful redemption.

Consider some of these examples for a getaway: a queen room at the Andaz San Diego (15,000 points per night versus $313 per night), a villa at the Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa (30,000 points per night versus $1,045 per night), and a standard king the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek, Colorado (30,000 points per night versus $1,900 per night).

How to Transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards Points

Once you've found a great redemption through a Chase Ultimate Rewards airline or hotel partner, your next step is to transfer your points from Chase to the loyalty program where you want to make a booking.

To get started, log into your Chase account and navigate to the Chase Ultimate Rewards page. Click "Earn/Use," and you'll see various options, including "Transfer to Travel Partners." Click this, then you'll be presented with a list of Chase's 14 transfer partners.

Click "Transfer Points" next to the transfer partner you're eyeing, and you'll be prompted to enter your airline or hotel loyalty program info. If you don't have an account yet, don't worry — it's free to sign up, so you'll just have to do that before initiating the transfer.

Once you have your Chase account and your frequent-flyer or hotel loyalty program account connected, you can initiate the transfer, and in most cases, the transaction will go through immediately.
