" Born in the South of Italy, I grew up surrounded by nature, along with, historical and archaeological sites. From a young age, I always dreamed of being an ambassador of my country so that I could make everyone aware of its outstanding beauty. Today, I am proud to take people from North to South and introduce them to the wonders of Italy. Come to visit us: Italy is always a good choice! "

DANIELA SPISSU

" I was born in Sardinia, a beautiful Italian island. Since I was young, I dreamt of working in travel, my dream became reality when I became a Tour Director. Although I initially escorted European Panoramas tours, nowadays I specialize in Italian tours. When on tour one of my favorite things is watching the faces of people that are seeing or experiencing something amazing for the very first time, those are the moments that stay with us forever and on a tour we try to create as many memorable ones as possible. Quality This indicates the overall quality of the tour operator's products. A low rating does not mean it is not good - it just means that it does not include as much, or perhaps is of a more standard quality than the higher quality tours. For example, a 3 star quality rating means that it is a more standard/economical tour, while 5 stars is a very luxurious tour that often includes a lot of amenities.

Your included orientation starts with a boat ride to St. Mark’s Square and is followed by time at leisure and a chance to watch Venetian glassblowers create their delicate works of art as they did centuries ago. Spend some time at leisure or join one of our optional excursions, such as the gondola trip, gliding along the picturesque canals with a local troubadour to serenade you.

Day 8: Venice Area,Assisi,Rome

Location: venice, assisi, rome.

Travel across the Po Delta, then into the green Apennines to Umbria. Stop in medieval Assisi, where St. Francis was born in 1182. Visit the town and the upper and lower basilicas with a Local Guide, then head for Rome. Today’s Distance: 317 mi/ 510 km

Day 9: Rome

Your vacation ends with breakfast this morning.

Reviews of this Operator

We have just returned from a cosmos….

We have just returned from a Cosmos tour- Gourmet Tuscany. We stayed in Montecatini Terme and traveled from there to many wonderful places, in towns and the fabulous Tuscan countryside. We visit Vineyards for wine tastings, farms for cooking lessons and lunches and dinners in authentic Italian restaurants. All assisted by a friendly, informative tour director. First class holiday

Excellent in every respect

I recently did a 2-week "best of Italy" tour with this company. Our guide, Daniella, was fantastic, the itinerary was excellent and they catered for my rather difficult dietary requirements really well. Really happy and will certainly book with them again

A wonderrful experience

WE saw so much. The tour director Mladin was very knowledgeable and made the experience so enjoyable. The bus driver Paul was so nice and helpful. A couple of the hotels had no refrigerators to keep the water cold. We had to carry our own luggage to and from the rooms. There should have been porters to help us. Over all we had a great time.

Old South &Florida tour

Great organisation, tour guide(Kris) and driver(Tony) who went extra mile and good group of people from all over world. The hotels were excellent in New Orleans and Nashville and very good in other cities. The itinerary was well thought out with visits to Gracelands and Grande ole Oprey topping the bill. We added 3extra nights in New Orleans (giving us 6nights) which was absolutely fab and would advise anyone doing this tour that they consider some extra nights to see and do as much as you can

The tour director expertise and…

The tour director expertise and personality made the trip all the more pleasant. No stress. The local guides as well added to the beauty of this trip. They were knowledgeable and personable. I also have to mention the travelers (the group of 21). The people were friendly an accommodating. This is my third trip with this tour company and I will continue to travel with this company due to excellent planning and customer service. Thank you

Well, I have been booked in Cosmos by my travel agency. I read many comments about this Hotel, and I was a little "afraid" before entering my room. Well, I was right.. Cosmos Hotel is an "old style" building, built in 1980 and showing the passed time in all its corners. Rooms are small, with very old style furnitures, and the carpet destroyed by the yearly guest's walking. Location is a little away from the city center, 20 minutes by car in non-pick hours.. but even 50 minutes if you move in the Moscow traffic jam. As usual, my Like/dislike: LIKE Price: for being in Moscow, the price was interesting (not cheap, but interesting).. maybe now I understand why.. DISLIKE Reception: Receptionists were just average, not helping me in the only two things i have asked (power adapter and hotel transfer). Restaurants: Bars and restaurants are overpriced, with low quality food. The self-service was probably the "best" restaurant in recycle last day dishes.. Temperature: Air condition and heating is centralized, so I had to keep the window open to let some fresh air enter in my too warm room. Bed: it was really uncomfortable.. I'm not use to have problem with that, but I really found difficult to fall asleep Cleanness: ash was on the carpet in different part of the room.. Internet: even if hosting Business travelers, this Hotel cannot offer Internet connection from the room (except a dial-up... Well, I have been booked in Cosmos by my travel agency. Internet: even if hosting Business travelers, this Hotel cannot offer Internet connection from the room (except a dial-up connection - not even a LAN one). Wi-fi only in the Hall.. Probably a higher rate (and better room) would have resulted in a better stay.. but, in my opinion, this Hotel doesn't worth the money, especially if you can spend a little more but sleep in a more modern hotel in the center of the city. cosmos tour 6400

We stayed at Hotel Cosmos in August of 2006 and while things may have changed from that point, I’m not counting on it. Pros: 1) The new rooms are clean and have windows that open (so if there is a musty smell it doesn’t last long). The bathrooms are very new. The linens are clean and you get toiletries, although I can’t remember if we had a fridge. There is a TV in the room. Please see “cons” for a warning on the rooms though! 2) Cosmos is very close to the metro (the metro is across the street and you have go through the underground tunnel to get there...the tunnel is there so you don’t get run over by cars). The metro in Moscow is beautiful and super efficient. It is also cheap. If you don’t speak/read Russian please do some research on it in advance to figure out how connections work and the like, but once you get the hang of it, it is great (I speak Russian so it wasn’t an issue). 3) There are banks in the hotel (see cons below). 4) Breakfast is good and included. 5) Tours are sold at the hotel (in foreign languages, e.g. English) (but please see cons below). 6) While we didn’t use it, there is a casino and bowling alley in the hotel. 7) Across the street from Cosmos are a bunch of shops at which you can buy things like cell phones/service (helps to speak Russian). 8) Across from Cosmos (assuming they’re still open) is also a not-very-large supermarket and a separate pharmacy (and by pharmacy I mean it sells only medicine, and not things like greeting cards!). The supermarket is good in that it has toiletries, some prepared food, yogurt (delicious), etc. 9) Across from Cosmos is a park of sorts (Russian parks are very different from American parks; they have manicured lawns and concrete walkways and flowers, and benches). Cons: 1) Do Not Stay in the rooms reserved for the Casino!!! Due to a glitch that had to do with our travel agent (not Cosmos), we had to be switched to one of those rooms to sleep in our last night (it was cheaper, but not by much). What can I say, I still have nightmares about it. Light sockets hanging out of the wall, table missing the top, old, dirty bathroom, shower I wouldn’t touch, smell of cigs, light barely worked (thank goodness for that actually!), and the best part: what appeared to be blood spatter on the wall. I can only imagine that someone goes to the casino, gets drunk, loses money and then gets taken to a room like this. The only saving grace is it had new soap, clean linens on the bed and clean towels. Since we only had to sleep in it for 5 hours we toughed it out but truly, save yourself the horror. I don’t think that when you book you get put into these rooms, I think they’re strictly reserved for the casino use, but at least I gave fair warning! 2) Food (other than breakfast) is either not good or overly expensive. Moscow is generally very expensive with food anyway, but the restaurant on top of this hotel was outrageous (so we didn’t even eat there). There are two other restaurants and we ate once on the lobby floor one and it was just ok. There is also a little sandwich bar, I guess that’s ok. This brings us to the next con… 3) Location in terms of closeness to city is not good. Yes, the metro is across the street but you’ll want to go elsewhere to find food and you’re likely to come back when it’s late and at that point it may not be the best idea to take the metro. Cabs, however, in Moscow are a hassle because (a) many are unmarked and (b) you have to negotiate the rate. I’m a native Russian speaker and I still dared not to negotiate the rate. Bottom line is that transport is very easy when it’s light out, but once it gets darker, the location of the hotel is a detriment. 4) The banks in the hotel do not cash traveler’s checks. In fact, when we were there, there was one bank in the whole city that actually cashed traveler’s checks. Beware. 5) The tour desk is convenient to an extent and I say this because I remember that depending on which day during the week you arrived, you may have had to wait a couple of days to buy certain tours and that may not fit with your schedule (by the way, the tours do not take off from the hotel, at least not the ones we did….many require you to take the metro to another location by the Bolshoi Theater and meet the tour group there!). Also, I don’t know how well these people speak foreign tongues even though they sell foreign language tours. I would just recommend booking tours in advance. 6) Elevators are not 100%. Yes, they work, but once an elevator we were in started moving, stopped (6 inches below our floor) and the doors opened again—you can bet we got out in a hurry! All in all, Moscow hotels are super expensive and this one isn’t cheap, but its less expensive that some others. Is it worth it? I don’t think so. Even though I speak Russian, the hassle of its location and lack of good food was a real problem. Our nightmare with the room I think was an unlucky break, but you have to wonder about any hotel that puts you in a room like that (below standards for even the lowest dump motel in the US). If I go again, I’ll spend more money and stay closer to food sources.

I stayed at this hotel on a school trip over the summer of 2007. It is a pretty amazing hotel from the outside, with flashing lights and a casino; almost like something from Las Vegas. The rooms were clean and nice but somewhat outdated. The customer service was pretty good, but don't lose your room card because it gets checked before you can enter the elevators. The hotel itself is located on the outskirts of Moscow in an interesting area. There is a big park across the highway, me and some friends actually spent out nights with a group of teenagers we met there. Overall the hotel is a nice stay if you are with a large group. The restaurants inside are nice, but not open long, so get up early!

This must be one of the largest hotels I ever stayed in, many hundreds of rooms. The reception area is large, and OK for the size of the hotel, with a few bars and restaurants to choose from. The is one of maybe 4-6 very large hotels that we saw around Moscow. Maybe 6 or 7 stops on the metro from the "center" of Moscow, but the metro station is reasonably close and well served. The oddest thing was having to almost fight your way to the lift at night - fighting a path through a crowd of "ladies" who hang around in the lobby at night - very strange and off putting for many guests. Rooms a little dated but adequate, considering its Moscow. Breakfast can be busy, but a good choice and seems to be well organised and is run well enough to cope with large numbers of guests.

i live in a sleepy town in the middle of north yorkshire, therefore travelling to russia was always going to be one hell of an adventure away from the normalities of home. hotel cosmos well and truely opened my eyes and added big time to this experience of a lifetime. one thing that hits you right from your arrival at the hotel - it is vast. what seems like a million rooms, a casino, slot machines (russian men seem to be playing on these 247), gift shops, restaurants, a swimming pool (complete with slide!), wierd wide open spaces, bars and lots and lots and lots of tourists. rooms are basic but clean. when later travelling on to other hotels across russia, we soon regarded our rooms back at hotel cosmos as pure luxury! looking out of the window is not recommended if you suffer from a fear of heights. we tended to eat at the buffet style restaurant close to reception. food is interesting to say the least. alll part of the experience we decided. dining is often accompanied with traditional folk singers complete with amusing costumes and incredibly annoying songs. the hotel bars arnt the cheapest considering the bargain vodka we later found in other cities but are still fun to sit in to pass the night away. male visitors beware!..ladies of the night are plentiful around the hotel lobby looking for possible customers. a complete culture shock but also quite scary. alll in all we had an amazing stay. dont expect too much and just go with the flow. its an experience you wont forget!

I booked the Hotel Cosmos because it was the only hotel I could find which would charge the same for a room with one person in it as for three people. (My company were paying for me and I got lucky with a website deal so I could take my family as well). I was not expecting anything special from the hotel except for somewhere more comfortable to sleep than a park bench. I wasn't disappointed. As other reviewers mentioned, the lobby is vast and seems to be filled with tour groups at all hours of the day and night, but that didn't really bother me. The room was small - especially with the extra bed - but in reasonable condition. The breakfast room was always busy when we went down, but we could always get three places together and the choice of food was enormous. The food itself was of good quality, by which I mean none of us got ill off it - which makes a difference from other Moscow hotels my relatives have stayed at in the past. In conclusion, if you are looking for an average hotel, fairly near the metro, there is no need to rule this one out, although I'm sure there are better deals around, even in Moscow.

  18. Customer reviews for the Cosmos Hotel in Moscow, Russia

I enjoyed the Cosmos hotel. Food was adequate. There is a small casino plus a wide shopping area. Elevators are marked for different floors and there is a guard so you need to show a room key. Only drawback was too far from the city to walk. Metro is next door.Alot of tour groups stay here and trying to reach the front desk is difficult.
