Transtar Travel First Class Solitaire Suites from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore by Luxury Private Room Bus

Transtar First Class Solitaire Suites Kuala Lumpur Singapore 001

Transtar Travel is a long-time player in the Singapore-Malaysia bus transport market, often pioneering the new bus industry standards that you see today such as the Super VIP seats. On this journey, as I predicted that I wouldn’t have enough sleep from the previous night’s travel to KL because I was taking the train ( and it turned out that I was so right ), I chose my return bus based on seat comfort, and with just minimal differences in ticket prices on Easybook at the 6pm timing, I went to buy my  Transtar First Class Solitaire  ticket for S$22 to return to Singapore.

What happened next, was not something that I had expected.

Transtar First Class Solitaire Suites Kuala Lumpur Singapore 002

Heading to the Transtar Travel office near Imbi, near Berjaya Times Square. Sure, I could have taken the Monorail to Imbi, but no way was I going to wait 20 minutes for a 2-car train, so I took the MRT to Bukit Bintang instead and walked from there.

The check-in counter at the Imbi Transtar Travel office. (There was someone waiting at the counter of course, I took the photo when the guy wasn’t around so that I wasn’t rude.)

Transtar First Class Solitaire Suites Kuala Lumpur Singapore 006

After showing my Easybook confirmation email on my phone and ticking my name off the manifest, the staff in a formal blazer handed me my bus plate number and seat number (which I’ve already pre-selected on Easybook  when purchasing my ticket) on this slip of paper for my reference.

After which, he said that due to a massive jam at Melaka, my 6pm bus was going to be delayed. Ah crap.

Transtar First Class Solitaire Suites Kuala Lumpur Singapore 004

However, it was a comfortable wait as Transtar has a lounge at the back of their office for you to rest on sofas and get yourself a hot drink. Toilets are at the back of the lounge.

Transtar First Class Solitaire Suites Kuala Lumpur Singapore 008

After about an hour of waiting in the lounge, the staff formally announced that the bus to Singapore was ready for boarding, and led everyone to the bus. Turns out, he was the steward for the journey.

Transtar First Class Solitaire Suites Kuala Lumpur Singapore 009

Wait a minute, is this the Transtar First Class Solitaire Suites ?

Transtar First Class Solitaire Suites Kuala Lumpur Singapore 010

I’ve never been so happy to get delayed before. This was an immense upgrade for my seat.

So when chatting with the driver later on during the journey, I learnt that this was a last-minute pullover from Genting as the Transtar First Class Solitaire Suites does not ply on the KL route. Rather, he got a call to come down to KL to rescue us passengers as the original bus was still stuck in the jam at Melaka.

Not bad at all, Transtar. I could easily think of a few bus companies who would keep everyone waiting without any recovery options or announcements for that matter.

On this double-decker bus, two First Class Solitaire Suites are located on the lower deck and one Suite on the upper deck. Each First Class Solitaire Suite consists of two seats. The rest of the seats in the main cabin are regular First Class Solitaire seats.

However, nothing got more private than my seat 13.

Behind the bulkhead was my Suite.

There is a slimmer seat by the emergency exit, but is not sold or assigned a number.

My upgraded Suite seat at Seat 13. As there was no one in Seat 14, I won myself the lottery by having the Suite to myself.

Transtar First Class Solitaire Suites Kuala Lumpur Singapore 020

On top of the usual Solitaire offerings, each Suite comes with its own bulkhead which features what you’d expect in your own car and more, with a CD and DVD player, stereo system and flat screen LED TV. However, the Suite system wasn’t switched on on this trip since it wasn’t meant to be a Solitaire Suites service, so I don’t have photos of the pop-out flat screen TV.

Transtar First Class Solitaire Suites Kuala Lumpur Singapore 022

Remote controls for the Suite amenities can be found in the push-out drawer at the bottom.

Transtar First Class Solitaire Suites Kuala Lumpur Singapore 021

On the Solitaire seats, functions are controlled electronically for the recline and massage functions. A USB port for charging is also available.

Transtar First Class Solitaire Suites Kuala Lumpur Singapore 025

On top of the USB port, a universal charging outlet is located beneath the seat.

Transtar First Class Solitaire Suites Kuala Lumpur Singapore 027

While there isn’t a door to shut the Suite, it is private enough since this is at the rear of the bus and people won’t walking past the Suite.

Switching on the Android personal entertainment screen.

Transtar First Class Solitaire Suites Kuala Lumpur Singapore 029

The little cubby allows me to rest my feet perfectly on it when the seat isn’t reclining.

Transtar First Class Solitaire Suites Kuala Lumpur Singapore 033

On recline and folding the calf rest out fully, however, the seat encroaches the full legroom available and is unable to fully recline for the last couple of inches. Perhaps the Suite requires more legroom in the design since by having the Suite bulkhead, the footrest cannot be installed. This design also unfortunately does not allow you to fully lie your body flat on the seat like a regular Solitaire cocoon seat in the main cabin.

Truly first world problems.

Ah, alas, the selections weren’t actually very good, though it might cater for the auntie and uncle crowd going to Genting.

Goodbye Bandar Malaysia and HSR. But with buses with private Suites like these, why would I get a more expensive HSR instead.

Once on the highway, dinner was served. The non-vegetarian meal served was Tamago Fried Rice with Chicken Karaage , which is a rather prestigious name for Nasi Goreng Cina.

Transtar First Class Solitaire Suites Kuala Lumpur Singapore 045

On top of the two described dishes on the label, the set came with stewed cauliflowers and a samosa. It wasn’t the best meal out there, but enough to fill my stomach. The meal was served with hot coffee or tea.

Anyway, I was just aiming for the seat when booking my ticket and not the included dinner.

Blankets were distributed after the meal.

Because this 18-seater bus was just about three quarters full, the wait for everyone at immigration was rather quick.

Transtar First Class Solitaire Suites Kuala Lumpur Singapore 059

The bus arrived at the bus stop opposite Golden Mile Complex at about 12.45am, making this a journey of 5 hours and 45 minutes from KL to Singapore . That’s about half the time I took to travel by train from JB to KL.

Transtar First Class Solitaire Suites Kuala Lumpur Singapore 060

Disembarking from the  Transtar First Class Solitaire Suites bus, my most comfortable bus ride in Malaysia so far.

Transtar First Class Solitaire Suites Kuala Lumpur Singapore 061

Overall, an excellent bus ride with spacious seats and an immense amount of pricacy available on board the Transtar First Class Solitaire Suites . The bus delay turned out to be the best deal ever with the upgrade in bus type. If only all Solitaire buses would be replaced with Suites so that I could use it again from KL, since the bus does not operate on the route.

Now I have to just keep hoping for northbound traffic jams in Melaka to hopefully be upgraded again.

Transtar are to be avoided at all costs. My most recent journey took 10 hours!! Yes, traffic was not good but 2 1/2 to 3 of the 10 hours was the result of a very late departure and endless stops (normally only one between KL and Tuas). Perhaps I could excuse this if it was one off. However this is the second time I have taken Transtar, and the first time was equally disastrous. The first time the bus never arrived. It broke down half way. This time not only did it take 10 hours, also no food offered, no water, and the entertainment system either didn’t work or was not switched on. Terrible! Terrible!! Suggest you use Aeroline or some other busline . I will never use Transtar again!! Transtar should also realise delays at Tuas immigration are not normally because of a passenger irregularity but most often the result of long queues caused by Singapore’s immigration processing passengers at one every minute. Like a work to rule!! Who knows why!! But Transtar should not impose a time limit on a process that is entirely beyond a passenger’s control

. My latest experience from this bus service, last week from SIN to PEN at Friday 10pm. -Departed 10pm -Cleared Malaysia custom at 130am -Tyre puncture after Air Hitam, JB stopped -stop at Seremban highway rest place at 8am next day -waiting for repair till 12noon still cannot fixed As it's getting too late and the driver never inform everyone of anything, as well weather is getting hot and aircon bus is not cold. We decide to share taxi back to PEN Reach PEN at 7pm that day. From expectation of 8 hours travelling become 21 hours... NOTE: You all judge on how good this bus service are.....

Transtar Travel Solitaire (Genting to SG)

Attendant onboard was friendly and took attendance. Food was acceptable - Nasi Lemak and Egg Mayo sandwich. Monitors were working and had fairly updated movies - cap America civil war. Seats were also able to recline fully with working massage function. When we first boarded, it was actually not working and we realised it was just that the driver hadn’t turned the function on. We informed the attendants and got it working. Overall, the online reviews did scare me but I’m glad I did not experience the inconvenience others went through.

The bus at 9.15 pm from Changi airport to JB CIQ was cancelled without notification. There's no one at their counter in the airport. Rang them and got to know it has been cancelled and have to wait for the next bus at 11.15 pm. Bus came but ditched us at Singapore custom. We got to pay another bus to get us to Malaysia custom. No refunds given. Totally ruined our first day of holiday in Malaysia.

transtar travel solitaire suite review

Avoid at all cost! Not worthy especially if you want a happy holiday. Services worst ever. No people actually board this. I made my worst mistake in my life and I won't repeat it.

Hi Kwan, Kindly share with us which service you took and what had happened . Thanks.

TS1 is the fastest and convenient mode of transport between Changi & JB, especially if you are a light traveler. The only challenge is when you are at the Singapore Immigration. As we had to alight & walk thru to clear the immigration, we had to rush back to the same bus within 20 mins. If the immigration is packed during peak period and you are stucked for a little longer , you may missed the bus and had to wait for the next bus (which may be come in the next hour or 2 ) or look for alternatives (ample of choice) to cross over to Malaysia immigration. I had used the service a few times over the years. BUT my last experience had changed my perception of this service! Few of us had planned an day trip to check out Changi Jewel from JB. We had checked the website and headed to the boarding bay for the 915am bus but was told that the schedule had been terminated! The next bus will be 2 hours later!. THEY NEVER BOTHER TO UPDATE THE WEBSITE, which was the main and only source of information for the public! We had no choice but to look for alternatives to get to the airport! Luckily as we were not rushing for any flights. In the evening, we decided to take the 915pm TS1 back to JB from Changi. We went to the counter (but was closed at 7pm) and checked their printed schedule on the board. 915pm bus was on the board. Confidently we headed to the waiting bay at 830pm. By 930pm, there is no sign of the bus! We googled and managed to call a mobile number and the lady who answered the called told us that the 915pm bus was cancelled for that day! And there were approximately 10 people waiting for the 915pm service , including few foreigners. The next available service will be at 1115pm. It is really ridiculous! My advise : DON'T TRY YOUR LUCK NOR TAKE THEIR SCHEDULE FOR GRANTED! CALL to check their confirmed schedule for that day!

Journey from Singapore to KL. Expensive at 10am. Dirty, no wifi, no working TV. Okay food. Okay reclining seats. One 10 minute stop. Journey from KL to Singapore. Cheaper at 7am, no wife, working TV, no food, one 25 minute stop. They were both on time. Super luxury coach turned out to be filthy. Basic coach was cleaner and had better air con. Cheap way of getting across from Singapore to KL. Personally, I would go to Golden Mile Complex in person and buy tickets like I did, in advance.

There's quite few pick up time is cancelled but wasn't update in any website. Waited 2hours in the airport. Price is more expensive than the normal bus, didn't expect to have such bad service.

And it ain't stuffy at all Click to expand...

But how come Z Club is cheaper than Premium when I check online? Another question, the bus will stop at Pasar Rakyat Terminal; will it be difficult to get out of there and is the Terminal safe?

can you list the price for each of the coach you recommended?

It won't be cheap as I had learned. 1st time there, didn't know where is KL Plaza. Took the taxi and pay RM7 (mislead by the map I found online, seems far away). Bu later I found out I can actually walk from the terminal and the journey, very short depending on traffic condition. I know because its so eaily to direct the taxi there... but the driver took some other route to reach. On my way back, just merely took less than 10 min going a round BB towards TS and then into the the big open spare where the terminal is located Click to expand...

The better way to fly is via Firefly to Subang. KLIA and LCCT are far, so transport options cost more in time and money.

Five Stars cannot book online. Or have they changed? Have traveled on Luxury Tours a couple of times. Got one time, they have this guide chap on the coach. He is super entertaining and friendly. All the ang mohs on the coach love him so much. Most of the other coaches have just the guy who will give you meals etc and that's it.
