What we say...

Motocaddy's m1 pro trolley is an easy-to-use model that folds over 40% smaller than standard models due a three-point folding system.

What we say: Weighing and folding down to a size not much bigger than an airline hand luggage allowance, the M1 PRO is designed to make transportation to and from the golf course easier.

Designed to fit easily into a car boot, the M1 PRO’s features include a two-bar frame that allows an 18 hole lead-acid or lithium battery to remain in its tray when the trolley is folded down, an integrated accessory station, a simple handle-height adjustment and an inbuilt device cradle designed to hold a wide range of GPS devices that can be powered from a USB charging port.

Related: Best golf trolley

It also has an Adjustable Distance Control allowing the user to set the trolley to travel independently up to 45 metres, fully adjustable bag supports and a new ergonomic handle designed to allow both right and left-handed use.

Motocaddy believe its enhanced functionality will allow the M1 PRO to build on the success of its award-winning S-Series powered trolleys. Prices are £399.99 (lead acid); £549.99 (18-hole lithium); £599.99 (36-hole lithium).

2 out of 5 Beware Motocaddy Know your Rights; just in case! 08 June 2015

Motocaddy M1. A great design principle poorly executed When folded in its ‘compact’ state • Don’t expect it to sit as a tripod on its wheels; it rocks about sat on its two main wheels and two nibs on the handle. Consequently secure it when stored upright in the car or suffer a persistent knock as it rocks its way to the course. • The umbrella holder, if left on increases the space envelope due to it being obstructed by the drinks holder fixing point When in use; the device holder will only accommodate thin devices certainly wont securely retain my golfbuddy. Also be careful when putting an iron back in the bag, depending on how high you set the handle it would be very easy to smash a screen. Product Support. The trolley was purchased mid March and started experiencing intermittent failures in April. The unit was returned to retailer then back to ‘Motocaddy’. Without it for a week, (good retailer helped me out with a loan trolley). After it was returned it lasted a couple of rounds same problems, fortunately had a round with a representative of the retailer who witnessed the issues. Trolley returned again after a short discussion relating to refund or replacement. Fair play to the retailer; they negotiated a replacement unit. This company does not advertise any quality certification, taking into account the reliability of the product supplied, the customer service and the repair effectiveness I am not surprised. Perhaps the high cost of the M1 is to take into account repair and return costs of supplied equipment that is not fit for purpose. If you consider one I encourage two things: 1. read the guarantee detail behind the headlines, the details are not such a rosy offer and 2. Know your rights; internet search 'consumer rights faulty goods' and check out citizen’s advice about replacement for unfit for purpose supplied goods. The above reflects my own experience and shouldn’t be taken in isolation check out all the other ‘happy’ customers.

1 out of 5 Don't buy 11 May 2015

Had a m1 for 13 months. It has had 4 repairs including axle, gearbox, x Control switch. The 18 hole battery has just failed. Motocaddy after sales service is a disgrace. Please note repairs do not come with 12 months warranty. If your trolley has only 1 month left on its warranty, any repairs undertaken will only be guaranteed to the end of the original warranty period. Friend has als had similar issues. DO NNOT BUY.

2 out of 5 Mottocaddy M1 19 April 2015

I am pleased with the design and ease of use of the trolley but very disappointed in the quality. It did not take long before the whole thing started to look shabby. I'm on my third battery. The paint work is very delicate and the trolley and club bags are showing signs of wear. It has now broken down one month out of its guarantee. I play twice a week weather permitting. Nowhere near as tough as my old Hillbilly.

2 out of 5 Great Trolley Poor Customer Service (Contd.) 27 October 2014

I had a bungee cord which I tied to hold the front together, then hired a buggy for the back 9. I then called to speak to a manager who was never available, was again made to feel that it was my fault. After lengthy conversations they agreed to take the trolley back and examine it. After a week i called to chase up and was told that there was nothing wrong with the trolley (erm the front wheel was hanging off!!) and they will put another bolt on. They would not refund me as they claim the trolley was fine and I must have loosened the nut (!), plus I had spent around £100 on accessories which I would not have got a refund on anyway. I was promised a call back from a Customer Services Manager which never materialised. The trolley is now back with me and I have played one more round since, let's hope it does not happen again as it is a good product. Overall a good trolley ruined by poor customer service. I would avoid buying on the basis that no one at Motocaddy seems to care about the customer once they have had your money.

Then on my fourth round the front wheel came off on the 5th hole and the nut was nowhere to be seen. I then had to slowly walk the next four holes ensuring I caused no further damage to the trolley then abandoned it at hole 9. I was playing a competition so I am sure I infuriated people behind me as I was walking extremely slowly. I then had to play the back 9 carrying my cart bag, which was no fun (electric trolley bought due to back problems) I called up on the following Monday and was pretty much told it was my fault!! They agreed to send out a new front axle rod and bolts. There was no apology from anyone at Motocaddy at this point and they seemed to think I had loosened it myself for some reason. I fitted the part as instructed by the tech guy at Motocaddy and this one only lasted two rounds before the front wheel collapsed again. This time I had only played 2 holes but having learnt from my previous experience.

2 out of 5 Great Trolley Very Poor Customer Service 27 October 2014

I recently purchaseda reconditioned M1 Pro though the Motocaddy website. At £120 saving I thought why not grab myself a bargain for a trolley that looks great with great reviews. Used the trolley for three rounds no problems and I was very delighted with my purchase.

5 out of 5 More room in boot!!! 07 August 2014

Purchase M1 as liked the idea of folding up and taking less space in boot. Have now used 4 times and getting used to opening and folding Works great on the course and the telephone cradle is a great idea. Would definitely recommend.

5 out of 5 Lithium powered 31 May 2014

By Mike4golf

Just purchased a 18 hole lithium motorcaddy M1 Pro and it's top quality ,I have had two electric golf trolleys before from leading competitors and I can honestly say this is far superior in every way .The only thing I can see that may be against it is the folding and setting up witch takes a bit of getting used to.

Motocaddy M1 Pro electric trolley review

Charlie Lemay's picture

Need To Know

Many products at least fall into one of these categories, if not more.

But in the case of the Motocaddy M1 Pro electric trolley, it manages to dodge almost all the pitfalls.

A classic electric trolley silhouette, and not too chunky which we are fond of. It has a luxury aesthetic, and we’d suggest the black model for those golfers that don’t want to spend time cleaning their trolley.

Performance

That’s thanks to the ingenious design of the Motocaddy M1 Pro trolley, which folds up easily into a small, compact and easy to carry parcel, which the brand says is 40% smaller than traditional trolleys.

Another distinctive plus is the unfold-by-numbers feature, which will help even the most senior of senior golfers get up and running.

There are electric trolleys on the market that are quicker and easier to assemble, but this numbering system makes the process a doddle.

Once out on the course, users will enjoy an efficient performance. A nine-speed dial, with the speed shown on a screen, makes starting, stopping, accelerating and slowing simple, and the ergonomic handles ensure control and a comfortable ride.

A locking system ensures your bag stays in place despite the severity of the terrain – or the severity with which you thrown your club back into the bag.

Motocaddy have added some extras. A USB charging dock and adjustable handle are just two benefits that will win over golfers.

On to the battery, which the connoisseurs among you will know is the most important cog in this machine.

We had the trolley with the lithium battery, which was relatively light and easy to transport. It charged quickly, and held it’s charge well. As it was a brand new battery, it is hard to tell how it performs after extended use.

A masterful Motorcaddy design. We have the Motocaddy M1 Pro as one of the best electric trolleys on the market, and it comes in at a competitive price, to boot.

It’s small when folded, simple to erect and collapse, and puts in a world class performance on the pitch – not to mention the added extras.

So good, in fact, it will convert bag carries – a notoriously hard headed bunch.

Head to the Motocaddy website for more information.

Motocaddy M1 Pro DHC Trolley Review

Martin Hopley

Having had great success with the Motocaddy S1 Digital and Motocaddy S3 Pro trolleys, the M1 takes the design further as it folds down to a smaller size and also has a built in GPS device holder and charger.

The key feature of the Motocaddy M1 PRO electric golf trolley is the compact size when folded. Using a simple 1 to 5 numbered clip system, the M1 PRO folds up and down pretty easily and the key to the compact nature is the fact the front wheel folds down too.

Motocaddy M1 Pro Trolley

The handle can also be adjusted through a range of 30cm from the horizontal to suit the height of the user and this makes the trolley much more comfortable to manouevre with the controls at the right level for your hands.

The numbering on the coloured clips is not the most stylish feature but it does help guide you through the order in which you fold the trolley for the first few goes until you get the hang of it (see the video below). The trolley frame on the standard model comes in a black version or an alpine white version.

Motocaddy M1 Pro Trolley

Once folded there is a clever fabric lifting strap for you to pick up the M1 Pro to put it in your car, which is a good example of the attention to detail and thought that has gone into this design.

Motocaddy M1 Pro Trolley

Compared to the Motocaddy S range of trolleys, the M1 PRO is 40% or 37cm shorter when folded and that helps when transporting it.

Given the compact claims I was concerned about the stability of the M1 PRO trolley, but the width of the wheelbase is pretty similar at just 3cm narrower than the S Series trolley on the left below.

Motocaddy M1 Pro Trolley

The battery tray is a little bit lower than the S-series and this lowers the centre of gravity to help the stability from the slightly narrower wheelbase. Taking it across a very sloping fairway it was as stable as any model in the market and you should not have any problems with this.

The other key feature is the excellent pop-up cradle for holding a GPS device or phone. It is located on the frame and has an adjustable pair of padded clamps to adjust to fit any width of device up from 4.4cm up to 7.5cm.

There is also a USB socket inside the cradle for charging your device from the main battery which is a great idea. With the price of a GPS cradle accessory for the S3 being around £20 range it is great to see Motocaddy include this as a standard feature on the M1 Pro and hopefully others will follow suit.

Motocaddy M1 Pro Trolley

The handle houses the now familiar Motocaddy dial that controls the trolley's 230 watt motor. To stop and start is just a push on the dial and then it is very easy to control the speed with your thumb up and down through the 9 speed settings.

There is a very good automatic distance function which is perfect for sending the trolley 15, 30 or 45 metres to the next tee whilst you head to the green to putt out. This can save a lot of time during the round, even if you do have to learn to watch out for slopes and bunkers.

My only gripe is that the hard front edge of the handle does not feel as comfortable as it could be. The shape looks a bit like something from a 1970's sci-fi series. The padding on top is fine, but something more akin to the shape of your hand like a bicycle handlebar grip would be better.

Motocaddy M1 Pro Trolley

Aside from the battery charge indicator there are no more functions on the screen and this makes it very easy to use. It also simplifies the display, which Motocaddy has been guilty of cramming with non-essential information in the past like distance measuring functions.

There is a choice of lead-acid or lithium battery options and whilst the lithium is more expensive, it is well worth the investment as it charges quicker and is much lighter to lift in and out of the trolley.

The lithium battery also comes with a 5 year guarantee and has the added benefit that you can fold the trolley down with the battery in place and when you get home you can even charge the battery without removing it from the trolley. An excellent idea if space is at a premium.

Motocaddy M1 Pro DHC Trolley

The battery tray has a univeral connector and can also fit an aftermarket battery if your Motocaddy battery reaches the end of its life. This is a good feature that future-proofs your trolley as sometimes customised connnectors mean you have to buy an original replacement or even a new trolley.

The elasticated bag straps are very easy to stretch round any bag and and manage to clip in place most types of golf bags, including a full size tour bag. If you get the official Motocaddy cart bag then it has a the EasiLock pin system on the bottom that locks the bag in place on the footplate above the front wheel for an even better fit.

Motocaddy M1 Pro DHC Trolley

Finally there is a easy to adjust front wheel clip so that makes adjusting the angle of the front wheel much easier than having to get the spanners out. It's almost a standard feature now on trolleys, but being able to easily straighten a drifting trolley is one of the big things manufacturers have to get right.

Motocaddy M1 Pro Trolley

In February 2017 Motocaddy added the DHC or Down Hill Control function to the M1 Pro trolley. This enables you to control the speed of the M1 Pro as it descends down slopes so that it does not run away from you.

Motocaddy M1 Pro DHC Trolley

This is achieved by using a limited slip differential gearbox in the 230 watt motor and fixed wheels that do not have clutches and therefore won't free wheel.

Motocaddy M1 Pro DHC Trolley

The motor has sensors inside that can tell if you are going up or down a slope and it then manages the power to the wheels to let you and your M1 Pro amble down even the steepest slope.

On very steep slopes the trolley may want to start moving when stationary, but if you push the P button above the screen then an electromagnetic solenoid Parking Brake is applied that holds the trolley rock steady and puts a P on the display.

Motocaddy M1 Pro DHC Trolley

In my view, the DHC is one of the best features you can have on a trolley and unlike the S1 2016 DHC Trolley the M1 Pro has both this and the Automatic Distance Function.

These are the two best features on a trolley for me and combined with the compact nature of the M1 Pro makes the DHC one of the best electric trolleys in the market. It comes in a graphite colour frame with a lithium battery as standard, so it is well worth the extra £50 investment over the standard model.

Motocaddy M1 Pro Summary

Overall, apart from the Blake's 7 handle, there is very little to dislike about the M1 PRO trolley. The features it has are well thought out and easy to use without being hidden behind a splurge of other information.

The compact folding frame and GPS holder are 2 excellent reasons to buy this trolley and if they are key for you, then it will be worth the extra investment over the S-Series trolleys.

User Reviews

Expect to replace the wheels on the S1 every year, if used weekly as they fail quickly if not filled with grease, (see video on Motocaddy site, it will save you money), also the circuit board will pack up during and after the warranty period, though during the warranty period the service is very good. A couple of guys from my club have had the motors replaced within warranty, and the axle can break at a point in the middle of the gearbox, keep a push trolley in the car just in case.

To say I am disappointed with my M3 Pro Motocaddy (Lithium), would be an understatement. It is now just over one year and I use it three times a week. The mechanics are excellent and the battery life is superb but the overall design is exceptionally poor. Firstly the trolley has been designed with the balance dependent on the much heavier lead acid battery. Fit the lighter and vastly more expensive lithium battery and the trolley is top heavy and topples on the virtually any incline or even on bumpy surfaces. Sending the trolley forward on any slope is impossible. Secondly to confirm another review here that talks about the lack of height of the trolley generally and the uselessness of the umbrella holder unless you are a hobbit (I'm no giant, a mere 175cms, about 5'9"). I have the trolley at its greatest height which still has me too tall and means the clubs are beating a tattoo on the frame much to the annoyance of my fellow golfers. As well as the height the umbrella holder will not hold large handled (i.e. most), golf umbrellas and I had to shop around to get a suitable umbrella (only to discover it was unusable anyway). I have a Motocaddy bag and the click fastener on the base is a great boon and really don't need any straps at all on the bag. The M3 distance and timing features are not intuitive to use and I often reset one set of timers when trying to activate another. The screen is excellent but frankly too small to be useful. I need my glasses to see anything beyond distance and the time. If you can make a trolley of such high mechanical quality as the M3, then it makes it even more of a shame that Motocaddy have not gone back to the drawing board to design something stable and more usable with its accessories. If it was cheap I might overlook the design failings, but for the money it should be designed right with proper user functionality.

I bought my M1 Pro Motocaddy in 2014. It is solidly made and the lithium battery has never given me a moment's problem. It is very compact, and folds down to a neat package that could be transported in almost any car. Ironically, the main problem is that it is too compact. The low handle height is a problem. I am not overly tall at 5' 6" tall (1.67m) and I have the handle at the highest setting. If you are much taller, it could be too low. If you want to walk under an umbrella, you won't be able to unless you are shorter than me. I want protection from the sun and paid for an umbrella holder. It does not keep an umbrella upright for long and requires constant tightening. A standard umbrella is too short. An extra long one is likely too heavy. To add insult to injury, there is now a warning on my seller's site that the holder is only to be used to store your umbrella when you are hitting a ball. So you will have to hold an open umbrella in one hand, while maneuvering the Motocaddy with the other. Hmmmm...I'd like to see a golfer do this for 18 holes! On the website, you will not see the Motocaddy set up with a generic golf bag, only a Motocaddy bag. Unless it is pointed out, you will not realize that the Motocaddy bag has been designed so that the clubs are in reverse order, which keeps the long clubs away from the frame. I'm not sure it could be easily used anywhere else. When you use a standard bag, the clubs sit on the frame (and on top of the 2014 drink holder). The cup holder has been moved in the 2016 model, but it was a design fault that should not have happened and unfortunately can't be fixed. The Motocaddy is a good machine, but it could be a great one. Perhaps Motocaddy needs to develop a 2nd model which is less compact but corrects these design issues. I know lots of golfers who would buy it.

Motocaddy Pro Series Cart Bag Review

One of the best cart bag currently on the market. But for it's cumbersome weight, the Motocaddy Pro Series is a high quality cart bag with great storage and great club organisation.

Premium, sturdy materials used throughout

Looks great with three colour trims available

Easilock system works brilliantly on Motocaddy carts

Particularly heavy even before adding clubs

Dan Parker

It's only natural that the manufacturers of some of the best golf carts on the market also make some of the best cart bags on the market too. Much like its excellent range of carts, the Pro Series cart bag from Motocaddy once again meets the very high standards expected from the brand. It has a 14-way divider as well as a separate 'jumbo' putting well for optimal club organisation. For the multiple rounds we've used this bag on the golf course, I never had an issue clubs crossing over and becoming stuck in the bag and a 14-way divider is, in my opinion, the best way to store golf clubs in any kind of bag.

A highlight of the Pro Series is without a doubt the premium materials used throughout. It uses a combination of PU and nylon fabrics that make for a premium looking and feeling bag. The zips feel very sturdy and the material used over the club dividers won't cause any wear on your club shafts either. This bag looks the part on any golf cart too and the three colour options - red, blue and lime - will allow you to match the Pro Series accordingly.

Overall there's nine pockets which in reality is probably too many, but if you like to carry the kitchen sink with you round the course the Pro Series has you covered. To carry food and drink on the Pro Series is easy too with two bottle holders on either side of an insulated cooler pocket that keeps food and drink at a good temperature on a warm day.

The Easilock pins at the bottom of the bag work fantastically with any Motocaddy cart. Easilock negates the need for a strap to go around the bottom of the bag as it locks it directly into the base of the cart. Obviously you'll have to own a Motocaddy cart of some description to get the most out of this, but I was really impressed with hoe easily the bag fixed itself into the holes on the Motocaddy S1 I was testing it with. Don't think you have to own a Motocaddy cart to use the Pro Series however as the anti-twist base means this bag will fit onto pretty much any non-Motocaddy cart.

The jumbo putter well on the Motocaddy Pro Series Cart Bag

It's worth bearing in mind that this is one of the heavier cart bags on the market right now. This weight is most likely down to the heavier, premium materials used throughout as well as the jumbo putter well that exists to house and protect your putter on the side of the bag. This section has been made so even oversized putter grips can fit into it, which is a great touch of detail. If you like the idea of a separate putter well, you'll have to put up with the added weight of the Pro Series. If the putter well isn't a deal breaker, something like the Motocaddy Dry Series , Powakaddy Dri Tech or Sun Mountain C-130 will offer similar storage with more lightweight materials. It's worth noting that any golf bag that is fully waterproof is generally lighter due to the type of materials used.

Overall, if you currently own a Motocaddy cart of any kind, investing in a Motocaddy cart bag is a no brainer in our opinion and the Pro Series is a brilliant cart bag. Even if you don't own a Motocaddy cart, the Pro Series is still a user-friendly bag that will fit universally onto other golf carts and provide you with plenty of storage and club organisation on course.

J.J. McCarthy second overall? + QB class red flags, Dak Prescott on the open market | Inside Coverage

Jason Fitz is joined by Senior NFL Reporters Charles Robinson and Jori Epstein to go behind the scenes on the latest rumors and news around the NFL. The trio start with takeaways from the NFL owner's meetings as Jori was on the ground in Orlando. The hosts discuss the fallout of the new kickoff rule (are rosters going to change because of it?), the two Christmas Day games and what the heck Jerry Jones was doodling in his notebook. Next, it's time to pull out the crystal ball as the hosts attempt to look into the future for some key quarterbacks, starting with Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy. McCarthy's draft stock has been skyrocketing lately as some rumors emerged that he could go as high as second overall. Charles gives his thoughts and what he's hearing from GMs around the league before moving onto Brock Purdy and whether San Francisco will be willing to pay him when the time comes. Charles dives deeper into the 2024 quarterback class and why every prospect has a massive red flag, and Jori gives us the latest on the Dak Prescott contract negotiations, which seem to be heading in the wrong direction. All signs are pointing towards Dak hitting free agency next offseason. Finally, Fitz wraps things up by asking about Deion Sanders' comments about choosing where his sons get drafted and whether or not player empowerment could be ascending to a new level with the emergence of NIL.
