New Zealand will tour Pakistan for a five-match T20I series, beginning next month.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Wednesday, 13 March that the New Zealand Men's cricket team will visit the country in April for a five-match T20I series.

The 2022-23 Test series finished as a 0-0 draw, while New Zealand won the ODI series 2-1.

While in April later that year, the five-match T20I series ended in a 2-2 draw and Pakistan dominated the visitors in ODIs, claiming the series 4-1.

Earlier this year, Pakistan visited New Zealand and suffered a 4-1 defeat in T20Is.

ISLAMABAD (AP) — Pakistan’s international cricketers will undergo a two-week fitness training camp with the army to prepare for upcoming limited-overs tours and the Twenty20 World Cup.

Fast bowler Mohammad Amir and allrounder Imad Wasim were among the 29 cricketers selected Monday by the Pakistan Cricket Board to attend the March 26-April 8 camp at Kakul, Abbottabad.

Amir and Wasim have come out of international retirement and made themselves available for selection until the T20 World Cup in the U.S. and Caribbean in June.

Pakistan is scheduled to host New Zealand for five T20s next month and will also play T20 series in Ireland and England before the T20 World Cup starts on June 2.

The Pakistan Super League T20 tournament finished last week.

The PCB said the camp, organized in collaboration with Pakistan army, will focus on team building and is aimed to enhance the physical and mental strength of the players, “ensuring they are in the best condition to face the challenges ahead.”

“The players will undergo a comprehensive training regime tailored to elevate their fitness levels, agility, leadership, strategic thinking and overall performance on the field,” the PCB said in a statement.

It’s not the first time Pakistan’s leading cricketers will have to go through a training camp in Kakul. In 2016, the national team captained by Misbah-ul-Haq conducted a camp there before flying to England for a test series.

Pakistan squad: Aamir Jamal, Abrar Ahmed, Azam Khan, Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Haseebullah, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Irfan Khan, Mehran Mumtaz, Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Wasim, Naseem Shah, Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha, Saud Shakeel, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Usama Mir, Usman Khan and Zaman Khan.

Pakistan to tour australia in november to play 3 odis, t20is.

pakistan cricket team new zealand tour

The Pakistan cricket team is set to visit Australia for a white-ball series scheduled for November this year as Cricket Australia (CA) on Tuesday released its international schedule for the 2024-25 season.

In a press release, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said that the tour — which will mark the start of Australia’s white-ball schedule for the summer of 2024-25 — would comprise six games in total.

It said that three one-day internationals (ODIs) and as many T20Is will be played across six venues from November 4 to 18.

“Pakistan will be returning to Australia after a gap of almost one year, after having competed in the Benaud-Qadir Trophy which comprised three Test matches played across Perth, Sydney and Melbourne in December 2023-January 2024,” the PCB said.

The cricket board further said that the ODI series would begin on November 4 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground before moving to Adelaide and Perth on November 8 and 10, respectively.

Pakistan last played an ODI series on Australian soil back in 2016 , which saw the home side come out on top, the PCB said.

Subsequently, Pakistan and Australia will face each face-off in the three T20Is. Pakistan’s last T20I outing on Australian soil was back in 2022, wherein the men in green appeared in the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

“The series will start at The Gabba in Brisbane. Action will then move to the Sydney Cricket Ground; Pakistan’s last T20I at the venue saw them beat New Zealand at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup semi-final. Hobart will be the last stop on the tour, where the final T20I will be played on November 18,” the PCB said.

Australia-India Test series

Meanwhile, CA also announced that Perth will host the first match of a blockbuster five-Test series against India from November 22.

The series will then move to Adelaide for a day-night Test and then Brisbane’s Gabba, which traditionally was the opening venue of Australia’s Test summer.

The Melbourne Cricket Ground will stage the Boxing Day Test and the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series will wrap up at Sydney Cricket Ground starting on January 3.

CA chief executive Nick Hockley called it “one of the most highly anticipated summers of cricket in memory”.

“Fittingly, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy has been put on the same footing as the (men’s) Ashes with a five-Test series for the first time since 1991-92,” he said.

Australia have not beaten India in a home series since 2014-2015.

The hosts have, however, won all four previous Tests at Perth Stadium.

“We’re confident the schedule will maximise viewership and attendance and there will be a tremendous atmosphere in stadiums across the country,” said Hockley.

Five-Test India series, Ashes crown epic summer

26HealyCummins

Six Tests, nine ODIs, nine T20Is to be played by Australia's men's and women's teams at 12 venues between September and February

CA_Schedule Announcement_60_Landscape

The MCG will stage a historic day-night Test to close out the Women's Ashes and Perth will host the opening clash of the five-Test Border-Gavaskar series, as Cricket Australia confirmed details of the 2024-25 international schedule.

Australia's all-conquering women's side will open the season against New Zealand in September, then also host India in December, while Australia's men will also play limited-overs fixtures against Pakistan in November, clearing the way for the multi-format stars to play key roles in the KFC BBL in January.

Pat Cummins will lead Australia's bid to reclaim the Border-Gavaskar Trophy from India for the first time in a decade when the hotly-anticipated series begins on November 22 at Perth Stadium, a venue where Virat Kohli's side was soundly beaten on their only previous visit in 2018.

That match was Australia's only victory in that series, and Perth has been India's least favoured destination Down Under, losing four of their five Tests there in the 77-year history between the two nations.

The West Test series opener will be followed by a day-night Test in Adelaide starting December 6, meaning the series will open with back-to-back Tests in prime time for east coast viewers in the first summer of the new TV rights contract that Seven and Foxtel signed with CA last year that will see matches also streamed on the 7Plus digital service.

The Gabba, once the 'traditional' opening venue of the Test summer, will host the third Test from December 14, before the iconic Boxing Day and New Year's slots for Melbourne and Sydney.

It means India faces their three least-favoured venues to open the series, although the tourists will believe the Gabba holds no demons for them following their historic series-clinching victory there in 2021.

India celebrate a win for the ages at the Gabba

Indeed, Australia have not beat India in a home series since 2014-15, losing at home in 2018-19 while Steve Smith and David Warner were serving bans, and again in 2020-21 when the four-Test series skipped Perth.

Australia have not won a Test series in India since 2004.

"This is one of the most highly anticipated summers of cricket in memory, with the eyes of the cricket world focused on the extended Border-Gavaskar Trophy Series and the multi-format Women’s Ashes," Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley said.

"Fittingly, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy has been put on the same footing as the (men's) Ashes with a five-Test Series for the first time since 1991-92 and we're confident the schedule will maximise viewership and attendances and there will be a tremendous atmosphere in stadiums across the country."

INTL_2425Schedule_1920x1080

Preceding that series, Australia will face India's arch-rivals Pakistan for three matches in each of the white-ball formats, including the first ODI at Perth Stadium for six years.

Perth will be the third ODI of the series after matches in Melbourne and Adelaide between November 4 and 10, with the following T20 series running from November 14-18 with games at the Gabba, SCG and Hobart's Blundstone Arena.

The move to open the men's international summer with one-day cricket is part of a concerted push under the current Future Tours Program to make Australia's multi-format players available for the BBL.

The international season again starts in September with Australia's women's team hosting New Zealand for a trio of T20 matches in Queensland that will serve as important preparation for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup that begins later that month in Bangladesh.

India's women will join their male counterparts in the country with a tour that runs in parallel with the men's second Test, with two ODIs in Brisbane and a third in Perth between December 5 and 11.

But the main course of the women's season is the multi-format Ashes series that will see several matches played at major stadiums, culminating in a day-night women's Test at the MCG.

26vlaeminick-garth-mcg-16x9

The women's Ashes will commence after the Border-Gavaskar series has finished, with the first ODI on January 12, and the white-ball leg of the series will finish with a January 25 clash at the Adelaide Oval, marking a return to the ground's tradition of hosting cricket on the public holiday weekend.

The Test match at the MCG will be played over four days from January 30 and will be the first women's Test to be played at the iconic ground since 1949. England officials last year opted to make the women's Ashes Test a five-day affair to open the multi-format series, with Ashleigh Gardner's eight-wicket haul spinning the Aussies to victory on the final day.

It will be the second women's Ashes Test to be played with the pink ball under lights following the 2017 Test at North Sydney Oval where Ellyse Perry famously posted a double century in a drawn encounter.

New Zealand's Luke Ronchi in talks for Pakistan head coach's role: Reports

According to multiple reports, the PCB has reached out to the former Black Caps wicketkeeper-batter Ronchi to fill the vacancy caused by the departure of previous coaches, including Mickey Arthur, Grant Bradburn, and Andrew Puttick, who were transferred to the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. Ronchi is currently serving as batting coach of the New Zealand senior men’s team.

Ronchi, 42, has represented both Australia and New Zealand. He has played 4 Tests, 85 ODIs, and 33 T20Is for the New Zealand team. He has also played league cricket in several countries appearing for Guyana Amazon Warriors, Islamabad United, Mumbai Indians, and Perth Scorchers.

The PCB had to turn to Ronchi after talks with Australian allrounder Shane Watson did not materialise. Before that the PCB had considered Mike Hesson, and Darren Sammy for the post.

The reports claimed that Watson cited his existing coaching and commentary commitments, while Sammy mentioned his contractual obligations with the West Indies board.

This is the second time that the PCB has approached Ronchi, having previously been turned down for a similar offer.

Pakistan Cricket Team to Participate in Army Fitness Camp Ahead of Series and T20 World Cup

P akistan’s cricket team is gearing up for a rigorous two-week army training camp focusing on fitness as preparation for their forthcoming international cricket commitments, including the Twenty20 World Cup. The camp will be held from March 26 to April 8 at Kakul in Abbottabad.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has named 29 players for this intense fitness program, which features prominent cricketers such as fast bowler Mohammad Amir and allrounder Imad Wasim, who have both announced their availability after coming out of retirement for selection leading up to the T20 World Cup set in the U.S. and Caribbean this June.

With a packed schedule that includes hosting New Zealand for five T20 matches next month and touring for T20 series in Ireland and England, Pakistan aims to ensure their team’s preparedness through this comprehensive camp. The Pakistan Super League T20 has recently concluded, opening up the players’ schedules for the camp.

According to the PCB, the collaboration with the Pakistan army is designed to bolster team unity, mental resilience, and the players’ overall physical constitution, gearing them up for the challenges on the horizon.

“This camp will feature a meticulous program developed to advance the players’ endurance, mobility, leadership abilities, analytical thinking, and match-day performances,” the PCB stated.

Previously, in 2016, the Pakistan cricket team also attended a similar camp in Kakul under the captaincy of Misbah-ul-Haq, which became a prelude to their tour of England for a test series.

The roster for the camp includes: Aamir Jamal, Abrar Ahmed, Azam Khan, Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Haseebullah, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Irfan Khan, Mehran Mumtaz, Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Wasim, Naseem Shah, Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha, Saud Shakeel, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Usama Mir, Usman Khan, and Zaman Khan.
