Party Vacations

Best party vacations.

It happens to the best of us. Maybe even without warning, the excitement of our travels takes a dip. The thick crowds of fanny-packed tourists and endless lines at monuments just don’t fill us with the thrills they used to. But don’t be disheartened; your trips just need a little re-energizing! And so does your fanny probably (seeeequinsss). Think: party vacations —the defibrillator of the travel world. Get yourself one of these and put the ‘fun’ back in ‘functional travel accessory’.

Party Vacations | top party vacation destinations | party vacation packages

There are party vacations and then there are par -TAY vacays—how deep you go is up to you. A “party vacation” entails any sort of trip you take in an effort to have the most uninhibited fun possible, with or without fanny pack. This can include:

  • Festival trips | Say “Peace out!” to TPS reports and head straight for Burning Man, Tomorrowland, Oktoberfest , Rio Carnival, or whichever Thai Full Moon Party floats your long-tail boat.
  • Pub crawls | Whether it be a weekend of local bar-hopping or city-/country-wide jaunts like our Australian bar-hopper  and  Spanish Bar-Mada tours, pub crawls are a great way to experience local nightlife and to put a little pep into your travel step.
  • Celebratory trips | Celebrating a milestone? Party vacations are the perfect way to let loose in a city where no one knows you or cares that you’re wearing a tiara. Bachelor/bachelorette parties are famously spent as party vacations. As are birthdays, “girls weekends”, or maybe you’re a hip Baby-Boomer who’s got a retirement coming up. I even had a friend throw a “divorce party” once. Whatever it is you’re celebrating, there’s a party vacation for that.

WHAT MAKES FOR THE BEST PARTY VACATIONS?

There is a rigid set of very strict criteria when it comes to planning party vacations… PSYCH! Gotcha that time. The first rule of planning a party vacation is THERE ARE NO RULES. Besides, your version of fun may be different from the next gal’s. However, based on years of research I’ve conducted personally (you’re welcome humanity), here are some helpful tips that won’t hurt:

  • Warm weather | “Alaskan All-nighter” or “Blizzard Bonanza” just don’t have as much party appeal as, say, a Las Vegas pool party or Brazilian carnival. Choose your destination(s) and corresponding time of year wisely and don’t forget about those hemispheres! Summer in Sydney is winter in Wales.
  • A healthy drinking culture | You won’t find much of a good time to be had in a town not known for its healthy consumption of alcohol. I know, I know… “you don’t need alcohol to have a good time” blah blah… Save that nonsense for your grandmother or the students whose young minds you’re responsible for moulding Monday through Friday. Let’s face it; a party isn’t a party without some hooch. Choose destinations with a wide range of clubs, pubs, and a crapload of Mardi Gras beads doesn’t hurt.
  • Likeminded individuals | Sharing a space with others on the same mission of a raucous weekend will prove much more profitable in the fun department than being the odd man out. Shaking your booty on a table top in Cancun, Mexico will encourage others to join in resulting in an explonential increase in cuh-raziness. Doing the same in a Connecticut coffee shop just might get you arrested.
  • A large group of friends | You and your bestie know how to have a great time but a party vacation with lots of your friends (aka like-minded individuals) is a literal case of “the more the merrier”.
  • No stress | Keeping your party vacation as stress-free as possible is vital to having the best damn time you can have. Choose a hotel close to the party zone to avoid having to drive or hitch rides with strangers. And, for Pete’s sake, let someone else do the planning! That’s what we’re here for! Entire party vacation packages right here .

Party vacations | What makes for great party vacations? | Top party vacation destinations

THE TOP PARTY DESTINATIONS

You’ve got your classics:

  • Las Vegas, Nevada – aka Sin City – whose strip of casinos, nightclubs, bars, restaurants, pools (both top less and with tops), and world class entertainment is world famous.
  • Barcelona, Spain where I saw more bachelorette parties on a Saturday night than I’ve seen in the last ten years combined.
  • New Orleans, Louisiana whose Bourbon Street Mardi Gras festival is one of the United States’ biggest parties.
  • Amsterdam – I think you know.
  • Rio de Janeiro, Brazil during Carnival with their parades of crazy costumes, big floats, and even bigger badonkadonks will change your life.
  • Cancun, Mexico for spring break is ever-popular on the list of party vacation destinations.

Party vacations | Top party vacation destinations - Rio de Janeiro, Carnival

And your newer to the party world, further under-the-radar vacation destinations:

  • Reykjavik, Iceland – I know the word “ice” is in the name, contradicting my earlier advice, but don’t knock their world famous nightlife until you’ve tried it. They’ve made pub-crawling a national sport, host three-day festivals under a summer sun that never sets, and throw glacier raves. If it’s good enough for Vikings, it’s good enough for me.
  • Nashville, Tennessee – the latest bachelorette party hot spot for a boot – scootin’, rip-roarin’ helluva good time.
  • Mykonos, Greece – a small island known for HUGE parties in the world of European party vacations.
  • Tokyo, Japan – because what’s a better way to celebrate your birthday than with a night that gets straight up WEIRD. Think: robots, monkeys, Harajuku, and all-night bondage parties. WHAT!? You asked!

READY FOR A PARTY VACATION?

You owe it to yourself to ditch the 9-to-5 for a 5-to-9 – that’s my reference for an all-nighter. Whatever your reason – to celebrate, to soak up some sun, to experience new cultures, that bondage party thing (no judgement) – you shouldn’t hesitate to squeeze a party vacation into that ho-hum schedule of yours. Shake up your routine by shaking what your momma gave ya! Start here .

Best Club Crawl In Las Vegas!

"This is a fantastic tour! Our guide was full of energy and made sure that we had a fun night! My sister and I loved the time on the bus, drinking and taking photos at the Las Vegas sign. We have been on other club crawls and this is by far the best!"

Great Party Bus! Book It

"This was a great experience. First time in Vegas and it made the trip that much more fun. All the clubs were fun. Had drinks on the bus. The host was great and helped get the party started. Had a great group of people even though nobody knew each other. Why choose one club when you can go to several. I will definitely do another tour when back in Vegas."

Always an EPIC night with the Party Tour!

"Love the party bus, done the club crawl about 5 times and it's never a dull time. The staff is always fun and there to help out if you have questions about the Vegas club scene. Of course they also there to give you those free drinks on the bus. These guys work hard so treat them right."

Best thing in Vegas!

"BEST IN TOWN PERIOD! These guys know Las Vegas and treat to like family. This is the only time I’ve felt like a VIP! Non stop drinks and excellent service! No better way to get around town!"

20 Best Ticket Websites for Booking Tours, Activities, Excursions, and Attractions in 2024

Best Websites for Activities, Excursions, Tours and Tickets

Tours, guided activities, and excursions are, for many travelers, one of the best ways to experience a new destination. Often, a local guide will take you around, show you the sights, and let you in on local-only know-how. You get more info than you might from a guidebook or travel blog. And the best part? You hardly need to do any planning. Just book your tour or activity online and you’re done. So, all that’s left on your end is to show up.

However, you do have to do the work of finding that great tour or excursion. Therefore, for that, we look to some of the travel industry’s best ticket websites. There are a lot of them out there.

Go with one of these 20 best options. That will ensure you’re purchasing tickets from reputable sellers only. (And that way, you’re not left stranded in a foreign country! You won’t be wondering where your guide’s gone off to!)

Table of Contents

Viator

Screenshot: viator.com

Owned by TripAdvisor, Viator is one of the more popular options for booking tours and excursions . You can find experiences and tours at a very wide range of attractions. There are an impressive number of international and national destinations.

Viator doesn’t operate its tours, though. Instead, it’s more of the middleman that connects you with the local tour operators in a given destination. That does come with a little risk. However, Viator is known for being very reputable and trustworthy. Therefore, it’s not as much of a risk as you might think.

Cancel Policy: The Viator cancel policy will differ. As such, this difference is according to the experience you book. The policy will range from free cancellation to “strict.” Under free cancellation, you get a full refund if you cancel at least 24 hours before your ticket’s start time. Under the “strict” policy, you have to cancel seven full days before your experience’s start time. If you do, you’ll get a full refund.

  • Many tickets come with free cancellation.
  • Viator offers 24/7 customer support.
  • A Reserve Now & Pay Later feature allows you to do just that.
  • This is one place where you’ll find a LOT of options.

Cons:

  • The “free” cancellation isn’t necessarily 100% free (time limits apply).

Click Here to See Cheap Activity, Excursion, and Ticket Deals at Viator

2. GetYourGuide

GetYourGuide

Screenshot: getyourguide.com

GetYourGuide is very similar to Viator. As such, it focuses on a lot of tours and experiences. It’s not just about straight-up attraction tickets. Unlike Viator, though, GetYourGuide isn’t just a third-party booking site. It also offers its own collection of experiences. These are called GetYourGuide Originals. These tours are more customized. Frankly, they’re better than what you might find elsewhere. When you book one of these tours, you get more flexibility in rescheduling and canceling. The tours are also capped at 25 people.

GetYourGuide offers tickets for more than 60,000 experiences around the world.

Cancel Policy: Most GetYourGuide experiences come with a 24-hour cancellation policy. This means you can cancel up to 24 hours before your ticket’s start time.

  • This site offers lots of tour and experience options, all over the world.
  • You can find special, GetYourGuide Original tours for an upgraded experience. These are not third-party.
  • The third-party providers, however, must be legal, insured businesses, to list on the site. This may give you a little more peace of mind.
  • GetYourGuide offers 24/7 customer service.
  • You’ll notice that GetYourGuide Original tours are capped at 25 people. That’s intended to be … intimate? In other words, if you like small tours, you might not find them as easily here.

Tiqets

Screenshot: tiqets.com

Tiqets is a good third-party option to buy tickets for specific attractions. However, it’s not a good option for booking tours. Instead, think of museums, historic sites, etcetera. Don’t expect to find customizable, one-on-one tours or bookable airport transfers here.

Furthermore, Tiqets is a good option if you want to browse various attractions in one destination and do all of your ticket bookings in one place. (Versus going to each attraction’s website individually and booking that way.)

Cancel Policy: When you purchase a ticket through Tiqets, you’ll have the option to choose a “free cancellation” ticket. If you book this, you’ll have free cancellation up to midnight the day before your reserved ticket.

  • Easily book all of your attraction tickets for one destination in one place.
  • Access all of your tickets from your phone.
  • Enjoy flexible cancellation that a particular attraction might not otherwise offer.
  • Tiqets offers 24/7 customer support.
  • You can buy some tickets without set dates. This lets you be more flexible with your travel itinerary.
  • Tiqets only really offers tickets in major international destinations.
  • For free cancellation, you have to choose the “free cancellation” option. This is available when making your ticket purchase.

StubHub

Screenshot: stubhub.com

Third-party ticket provider StubHub focuses on events . As such, this can be great if you’re looking to attend a concert, theatrical show, or sports game. However, do note that StubHub sells tickets from existing ticket holders. The tickets are not directly from the venue or event. Accordingly, this comes with its pros and cons. On one hand, you might pay more for a particularly in-demand event. A ticket holder might be attempting to flip their ticket for a profit. On the other hand, if someone’s desperate to sell a ticket they don’t plan on using, you could get your ticket for a great deal.

Cancel Policy: You cannot cancel, or receive a refund on, a transaction on StubHub once it’s been completed. In response, the website recommends reselling your ticket on the site if you decide you no longer want or need it.

  • You can sometimes snag great deals on StubHub. You can likewise find tickets to sold-out events.
  • All ticket sellers are verified. You’re not relying on unscrupulous scalpers.
  • There are no refunds and no cancellations.

5. TripAdvisor Attractions

TripAdvisor

Screenshot: tripadvisor.com

We know what you’re thinking. “TripAdvisor? Attractions? You told me that Viator sold tickets for TripAdvisor!”

And while that’s true, TripAdvisor also has its own, separate third-party ticket marketplace. It operates very similarly to Viator. But, it comes with all the benefits of TripAdvisor. When you view an available activity on TripAdvisor Attractions , you’ll see all the need-to-know info about an attraction or tour, plus reviews. If you decide you want to book something, you can do so in literally a matter of seconds.

Cancel Policy: Most tickets allow for a full refund up to 24 hours ahead of your experience.

  • Firstly, there are lots of options to choose from, in a lot of destinations, even small ones.
  • Secondly, you can get free cancellation in most cases.
  • Thirdly, you’ll see that most listings include reviews and substantial info on any attraction you’re considering.
  • TripAdvisor Attractions does lump in non-ticketed attractions with its ticketed attractions. Things can get confusing.

6. Expedia Activities

Expedia

Screenshot: expedia.com

You likely know Expedia as the place to go for booking flights and hotel rooms. However, did you know that Expedia also offers tour booking and event tickets?

Unfortunately, the third-party provider’s activities section isn’t quite as searcher-friendly as you might hope. This is because everything is grouped by destination, not necessarily tour types.

Additionally, you won’t find many experiences in small destinations on offer. However, what you will find is very affordable. In fact, costs are as low as $7 per ticket in some cases.

Cancel policy: Cancellation policies differ according to the activity you book. As such, some activities offer free cancellation within a certain period. However, some charge you an additional fee for canceling.

  • Find cheap experiences in mid-size and large destinations.
  • Browse for activities at the same time you book your flight and hotel.
  • You won’t find attractions in many small destinations.
  • The booking platform (at least where activities are concerned) isn’t that user-friendly.

7. Kayak Things to Do

Screenshot: kayak.com

Similar to Expedia, Kayak also offers “things to do” tickets . This is in addition to the flights, hotel rooms, car rentals, and train and bus tickets the site offers. Further reading: See our complete guide to booking travel with Kayak .

Likewise, Kayak does offer more experiences in off-the-beaten-path destinations. You can search for available experiences based on a range of factors. Beyond just location, you can also look for experiences based on accessibility and safety measures.

However, since the travel aggregator is a third-party ticket provider, it doesn’t always help you with the booking side of things. For booking an experience, you’ll be redirected to whatever individual tour provider is offering the tour. Once you’re there, you can find more information. Sometimes, though, that information differs from what Kayak provides.

Cancel policy: Kayak only points you to experience and tour operators. As such, it does not help you book. Because of this, the cancellation policy will entirely depend on the individual provider.

  • You can search for a wide variety of experiences in a wide variety of destinations.
  • You can look for things to do at the same time as you book the rest of your travel.
  • You can’t book your experience directly on Kayak. You have to book elsewhere.

8. Travelocity Activities

Travelocity

Screenshot: travelocity.com

Owned by Expedia, Travelocity similarly offers an “Activities” booking feature.

Many of the above ticket booking platforms allow you to browse through a range of options, to get inspiration. You don’t need to pick a destination. Travelocity, however, does force you to pick where you’re going, as well as dates. This is a bit limiting. That’s especially the case if you’re in the middle of planning your trip and are pretty flexible.

Still, if you pick your date and city, you’ll find … That you’re led to a booking page that’s almost identical to what Expedia offers on its Activities page. You’ll find the same tours and the same prices. Using one or the other all comes down to whether you prefer Travelocity or Expedia.

Cancel policy: Just like with Expedia, cancellation policies differ. The difference is according to the activity you book. Because of this, some activities offer free cancellation within a certain period. Some, though, do charge you an additional fee for canceling.

  • You can find an array of cheap activities and tours in top travel destinations.
  • You won’t find many available tours or activities in lesser-known destinations.

9. Orbitz Activities

Orbitz

Screenshot: orbitz.com

Likewise, Orbitz , another Expedia-owned travel aggregator, features an identical setup. You pick where you’re going and the dates you’ll be there. Orbitz will show you the same tour options in the same format. You’ll also see the same search functionality.

So, again, whether you choose to use Orbitz, Expedia, or Travelocity, you’re going to have the same experience across all three platforms. The only reason why you might choose one over the others is if you’ve already booked other parts of your travel with one of them. Then, it makes sense to continue booking your experiences with that platform. That way, you have all of your travel details in one place.

Cancel Policy: Cancellation policies differ according to the activity you book. Some activities offer free cancellation within a certain period. Some charge you an additional fee for canceling.

  • You can find an array of cheap activities and tours in top travel destinations.
  • Additionally, if you’ve already booked your flights and hotel with Orbitz, booking your activities here will keep things streamlined.
  • You’re out of luck finding something to do unless you’re staying in a known travel destination.

10. Musement

Musement

Screenshot: musement.com

You can probably take a quick look at this platform’s name and guess exactly what it specializes in. Musement focuses on museums , of course. Then, it also offers tours and tickets to attractions like theme parks. You can choose between open tickets and set time tickets, depending on the attraction. Some tours even include transportation services.

Cancel Policy: Musement is a third-party booking platform. Cancellation policies are left up to the individual service provider.

  • Find thousands of experiences in top destinations all around the world.
  • Custom tours are available.
  • Customer service is available 24/7.
  • Many experiences are available in multiple languages. Some include other fun perks like skip-the-line.
  • Musement requires you to print your tickets. This isn’t exactly convenient while traveling.

11. Civitatis

Civitatis

Screenshot: civitatis.com

Civitatis was originally founded as a tour and experiences provider for Spanish-speaking travelers. However, now, you can find a range of experiences available.

This is a third-party platform.

Depending on where you are in the world, you’ll notice that the platform pushes experiences in your supposed language. This makes the platform a good option for those who travel abroad quite frequently. More specifically, it’s good if you need experiences in a certain language.

The platform mostly specializes in typical tourist activities in major international destinations. One cool feature, though? You’ll find free tours and activities. These are in addition to the paid options.

Cancel Policy: The cancellation policy will differ according to the individual tour or activity provider.

  • Find activities in your language in major destinations.
  • Browse and book free tours and activities.
  • You won’t find that many options in smaller destinations. You also won’t find many off-the-beaten-path activities.

12. Ticketbar

TicketBar

Screenshot: ticketbar.eu

Go to the Ticketbar website. There, you’ll automatically notice a difference between this booking platform and some of the other options on this list. Ticketbar is admittedly a little outdated. However, with its European focus, you can find a wealth of activities in smaller European destinations. Think from Andalusia to Delft. You might not find these on the bigger, international platforms.

Looking for private tours, combo tickets, attraction tickets, nightlife experiences, or airport transfers? They’re all available via this third-party seller. Many are available for a discount.

Cancel Policy: The cancellation policy will differ. The difference is according to the experience you book.

  • Find tours and discounted tickets in both large and small European destinations.
  • The website is a little clunky. There’s not a ton of information on it. Just in the planning stages of your trip? You might not find all the info you need here, before booking.

13. TourScanner

TourScanner

Screenshot: tourscanner.com

Want to compare and contrast various tours and travel activities on one platform? TourScanner is a good place to go . The travel aggregator compiles tour and activity tickets. It pulls the available options from more than 30 different booking sites. From there, you can pick the best activity and the best price for your trip.

TourScanner is a third-party platform. This means you do have to book your activity directly with the provider, not TourScanner. You’ll also be subject to their cancellation policies and their rules. TourScanner is just the place to go for your research and window shopping.

Cancel Policy: The cancellation policy will differ according to the experience you book. As a result, the policy will be the provider’s cancellation policy, not TourScanner’s.

  • Find activities and tickets from more than 30 other sites, in one spot.
  • You can’t book with TourScanner directly.

14. TourRadar

TourRadar

Screenshot: tourradar.com

TourRadar is a great place to go if you’re looking specifically for multi-day, guided tours. You can browse tour options based on location and dates. You can also browse by tour types. Tour type options include themed experiences such as trekking or cultural, or even river cruises. There are tours available all over the world. You’ll likewise find frequent tour sales and private tours available.

TourRadar is a third-party platform. However, it does work with a variety of operators who are vetted and well-reviewed.

Cancel Policy: The cancel policy will differ according to the tour provider you book with.

  • Find multi-day tours all over the world. Additionally, many are from vetted tour providers.
  • You’ll get access to 24/7 customer service. Furthermore, the customer service has been highly reviewed as some of the best in the travel biz.
  • Enjoy access to frequent tour sales and a best price guarantee.
  • If you’re not looking for a multi-day experience, go elsewhere.

15. Klook Travel

Klook Travel

Screenshot: klook.com

Originally started in Asia, Klook Travel now offers a growing number of experiences and travel services. They are available in a range of worldwide destinations. Go beyond just booking tours and experiences. Klook also allows you to purchase car rentals, train tickets, airport transfers, and even WiFi and SIM cards.

In addition to the website, there’s also an incredibly convenient Klook app.

Cancel Policy: The cancel policy differs according to what experience you book. Many offer free cancellation within a certain timeframe. That might be 48 hours ahead of your experience or 72 hours ahead of your experience.

  • Klook offers the ability to book way more than just experiences. The platform probably has the greatest variety of offerings out of any of the platforms on our list.
  • The Klook app makes booking and managing your travel even easier.
  • You’ll mostly find offerings in Asia and Europe. There is, though, a growing number of activities in major international destinations elsewhere.

16. WithLocals

WithLocals

Screenshot: withlocals.com

If you prefer a more hands-on approach, WithLocals might be one of the better travel experiences for you. With hosts in more than 100 worldwide cities, WithLocals provides experiences and tours led and hosted by locals. The experiences and tours are always private, too. Hosts focus on off-the-beaten-path, personalized experiences. It’s not about the tourist traps. Think of a private food tour in Amsterdam or a neighborhood tour of Paris’s Montmartre.

Cancel Policy: You can reschedule your experience, multiple times, up to the day of your experience. You can cancel entirely for free and receive a 100% refund up to seven days before your experience.

  • Enjoy private, personalized tours and off-the-beaten-path experiences.
  • Tours are only available in limited cities and the cancellation policy is a bit strict.

17. Thrillophilia

Thrillophilia

Screenshot: thrillophilia.com

Third-party platform Thirllophilia will connect you with more than 12,000 activities. These are from more than 5,000 suppliers in more than 125 destinations. However, it is worth noting that the site heavily focuses on Asian countries. So, this is a great place to go to find experiences if you’re heading to that side of the planet. It’s not so great if you’re traveling elsewhere.

Thrillophilia partners with an admirable range of reputable providers. These might include national tourist boards or Uber, Airbnb, or Marriott. In addition to booking activities and tours, the platform also gives you the option to book rentals and staycations. It also offers a handy gifting feature.

Cancel policy: All purchases and reservations are final and non-refundable. This is according to Thrillophilia’s terms and conditions.

  • Find a huge number of activities and experiences in Asian countries.
  • This is one of the only tour and experience-booking platforms where you can gift an experience to a fellow traveler.
  • In addition to booking experiences, you can also book homestays and rentals.
  • You won’t find many experience options outside of Asia.
  • The cancel policy is unforgiving, to say the least.

18. Manawa by Adrenaline Hunter

Manawa

Screenshot: manawa.com

Manawa by Adrenaline Hunter is a niche third-party provider. But, if you’re looking for its particular niche, you’re in luck. This is your place to go to book high-energy, intense, extreme activities. Think shark diving, skydiving, caving, or heliskiing.

Of course, not everything is quite that extreme. You can also find more low-key adventures, like sailing or fat biking. However, in general, everything will be an active adventure. There are more than 5,000 bookable experiences in destinations all over the globe.

Cancel policy: The cancel policy ranges from super-flexible to super-strict, depending on what you book. If your activity has the “super-flexible” policy, you can cancel up to 24 hours before your activity and get a full refund. If your activity has the “super-strict” policy, you must cancel 90 days in advance of your activity to get a full refund. If you cancel less than 30 days in advance of your activity, you’ll receive no refund. Any cancellations between 30 and 90 days will warrant refunds in varying amounts.

  • Find niche adventure experiences all over the world.
  • If you’re not into this niche, you’re not going to find much of interest.

19. Airbnb Experiences

Airbnb

Screenshot: airbnb.com

If you already use Airbnb for booking your travel accommodations, you might want to check out the platform’s various bookable experiences. You can book not only local-hosted experiences in a travel destination but also online experiences if you want to go the virtual route.

Experiences range vastly in terms of both price and subject matter. From goat cuddling to sailing, food tours to cycling tours, you’ll find a bit of it all. Tours and experiences are either private or in small groups. The focus is often on things you wouldn’t be able to do on your own, as a traveler in a new destination.

Cancel policy: To cancel your experience and get a refund, you have to go through your experience host to request a refund. If they do not grant a refund or if they do not grant a refund in an amount to your satisfaction, you’ll have to submit a claim to Airbnb.

  • Many travelers already have experience booking accommodations with Airbnb, so booking an experience is a comfortable next step. This is especially the case if you’re wary of working with a provider that you may not have heard of before.
  • You’ll find unique tour and activity options, led by locals, in small or private settings.
  • Canceling your experience can be a really big hassle that will depend on your host and how agreeable they may or may not be.

20. Atlas Obscura

Atlas Obscura

Screenshot: atlasobscura.com

You know Atlas Obscura. It’s the place to go for all your random, weird, travel facts and tidbits. But this publication also offers guided trips, with multi-day tours focusing on a range of topics, from arts and culture to wildlife and nature.

Each trip is carefully crafted to zoom in on what makes a destination special. Each brings in the local history and culture as much as possible, so you go deeper than just the surface-level tourist stuff.

Trips are conducted in English only and groups are kept small. A lot of the people who participate in the trips are solo travelers. The trips are a good fit for those who maybe want to explore with others, but who maybe don’t have anyone in their lives right now who’s up for an adventure.

Cancel Policy: You can cancel without penalty within seven days of booking, up until your final payment for the trip’s due date. After that final payment is made, you’ll have to pay a cancellation fee.

  • Enjoy small group travel tours led by a trusted travel publication.
  • Tours are kept as sustainable as possible.
  • You can easily make your entire trip one of these multi-day tours, for easier travel with less planning on your end.
  • These tours are mostly designed with younger, solo travelers in mind. They’re not a suitable option for families.
  • The tours can be on the pricier side, especially if you consider yourself a budget traveler.

When planning your trip, if you already know you want to visit a certain attraction — like a museum or theme park — booking your tickets in advance can save you time during your trip. (Because who wants to wait around in line when there’s travel fun to be had?)  Additionally, when you book with one of the above platforms, you can often save money by booking the best deals. You’ll also get to see the full range of options available to you, including some you may not have even known existed!

If you hate itinerary planning and just want to show up at a destination and have a great time, a multi-day tour may be perfect for you. The pros do all the work, so you have a unique and enjoyable experience, without the hassle of researching and booking everything on your own. Additionally, if you’re a solo traveler or a couple or a few friends who like to meet other travelers on your journeys, you’ll enjoy the small group environment a multi-day tour often provides.

If you like to go at your own pace, without any strict timelines or itineraries, you might not enjoy the structure of a multi-day travel tour. Likewise, if you don’t care about getting to know fellow travelers and like to go it alone, you may find the multi-day tour environment annoying. Additionally, some travelers just love all the planning and research leading up to a trip. If that’s you, you may have more fun planning your journey on your own.

72 Fun & Unusual Things to Do in Moscow

fun things to do in Moscow

Sure, Moscow is the Russian political capital and the nation’s most populous city, but describing it as such couldn’t be any further from the truth. More accurately, Moscow is a city of contrasts.

It exudes history — its Kremlin dates back centuries, nodding to royalty and leadership old and now, while the famed Red Square, the poster child of the city, blends striking color with ancient tradition and religion.

On the other hand, it’s a city of modern pop culture and towering skyscrapers; a place where you’ll come across new-age museums, arts centers, manmade parks, and an efficient transportation system that’s one of the most beautiful in Europe.

It’s a city of longstanding culture — the Bolshoi Theater is an international symbol for excellence in classical dance, while Russia’s National Ballet Company remains renowned worldwide — as well as upbeat nightlife, with some of the world’s most celebrated rooftop bars and nightclubs.

While it’s a city filled with opposites, there remains no shortage of things to do in Moscow for all types of travelers — from those who want cultural immersion to those looking for an epic night out, you’ll be spoiled for choice. And if you’re not sure where to start, here’s a list of suggestions!

The Moscow Kremlin

If there’s any particular district begging to be the first place you visit on your trip, it’s the Kremlin.

Built in the 16th century by Ivan the Terrible, the UNESCO-listed area has since become the heart of Russia’s capital city, where you’ll find several churches, palaces, and other noteworthy buildings.

We’ll dive into each of its main attractions in a second, but regardless of what you visit, try to make it to the Kremlin in time for sunset — because seeing its golden domes glinting in the late-afternoon light makes for one spectacular tourist photo!

Click here to learn about Kremlin tickets prices .

1 – Admire the abundance of Kremlin towers | the Kremlin

Kremlin towers, Moscow

As your eyes dart down the towering red-brick Kremlin wall, the first thing you’ll notice is its large towers of all different styles and sizes.

With a whopping 20 separate minarets towering above the historic area, each with its own name, colors, features and history, a guided tour to learn each of their fascinating stories is a must.

To give you a little taste, the Konstantin-Yeleninskaya Tower once housed a torture chamber. Saviour’s Tower at the main entrance boasts a famous chiming clock, the Secret Tower houses a secret escape tunnel, and the Trinity Tower is the tallest of them all.

2 – Visit the enormous Grand Kremlin Palace | the Kremlin

Grand Kremlin Palace, Moscow

A remarkable attraction in terms of both beauty and history, the Grand Kremlin Palace is an ornate rococo-style building that was commissioned during the reign of Nicholas I, and today acts as the official residence of none other than the Russian president, Vladimir Putin.

Perched atop Borovitsky Hill, its 125-meter-long facade is unmissable, making for impressive photos.

Take note: guided tours are few and far between, so you’ll have to book a few weeks in advance if you want to check out the decorated inner sanctum.

3 – People-watch in Cathedral Square | the Kremlin

Cathedral Square, Moscow

One of the most popular areas in all of Moscow (sometimes called Sobornaya Square), with multiple massive churches at its heart, Cathedral Square is flanked by several historic buildings and is never shy of a tourist crowd.

The three main churches — each spectacular works of architecture in their own right — are the Cathedral of the Assumption (the oldest and the biggest of all Kremlin churches), the 16th-century Cathedral of the Archangel Michael (known for its beautiful Corinthian gables and turrets), and the golden-domed Cathedral of the Annunciation (which connects to the Grand Kremlin Palace’s main building).

Throw in the 60-meter-high Ivan the Great Bell Tower, the lesser-known Church of the Twelve Apostles , the Church of the Deposition of the Virgin’s Robe (underrated yet famous for its marvelous stained-glass windows), and the medieval residence-turned-museum that is The Patriarch’s Palace, and you can see why this square is regularly number one on any visitor’s list of things to do in Moscow.

4 – See a show at the State Kremlin Palace | the Kremlin

State Kremlin Palace, Moscow

Just like the Grand Kremlin Palace , this theater and prestigious concert hall — with its grandiose facade and multiple sculptures — is another ornate building that’s worth admiring.

A popular place to hold conferences, the State Kremlin Palace was originally built as part of a larger complex for Communist Party meetings, but today hosts some of the biggest events in Moscow — we’re talkin’ sold-old ballet performances, world-famous concerts, opera shows, and festivals.

Check the website to see what’s on the calendar for your visit!

5 – See centuries worth of national treasures at the Armoury Chamber | the Kremlin

Armoury Chamber, Moscow

For anyone with an interest in historical weaponry and armor, this museum — which dates back to the early 1500s when it was created as the royal armory — is a must-see.

The Armoury Chamber (as well as the Diamond Fund Exhibition) is home to some of the most valuable objects that were originally owned by Russian monarchs — from jeweled heirlooms and intricate boxes to ornately decorated pistols and swords — many of which are centuries old.

Within the armoury chamber, you’ll also find the Russian historical regalia, a collection of artifacts that belonged to Russian tsars and emperors between the 13th and 20th centuries, highlighted by the Ivory Throne and the Monomakh’s Cap.

  • Armoury Chamber tours

6 – Step inside the Palace of the Facets | the Kremlin

Palace of the Facets, Moscow

The Palace of the Facets is one of the most underrated buildings in all of Moscow, largely because it’s not as widely promoted or photographed even though its exterior adorns some postcards.

From the outside, it blends in with the crowd. But step inside and you’ll discover a world of beauty and wonder — its frescoes, golden columns and enormous rooms are a sight to behold

The Palace of the Facets is not only a piece of art (literally, with painted walls), dating back over 500 years, but also acted as the dining hall for the Tsars.

7 – Feel small next to the Tsar Bell | the Kremlin

Tsar Bell, Moscow

Making Philadelphia’s famous Liberty Bell look diminutive in size, this monument , which never actually functioned as a bell due to its immense size (at 205 tons and standing 20.1 feet high!), has found fame in recent years for being the heaviest attraction inside The Kremlin.

With the bronze landmark’s claim to fame of being the biggest bell in the world, it presents as a great, quick photo op when roaming through the Kremlin.

8 – Check out the Senate Palace | the Kremlin

Senate Palace, Moscow

Another architectural masterpiece that’s tucked away within the Kremlin, this palace is famous for being one of Moscow’s most beautiful buildings — its yellow façade curves around to face inward and truly engulf anyone who stands near it.

Built back in the late 1700s, today it houses the Russian presidential administration and, unfortunately for us, is off limits to the general public.

Still, admiring it from outside, with the nearby Tsar Cannon, is certainly good enough.

9 – Grab a photo in front of the Tsar Cannon | the Kremlin

Tsar Cannon, Moscow

One of Moscow’s most iconic symbols, Tsar Cannon (or Royal Cannon) is a cannon that was manufactured in 1586 and resides — yep, you guessed it — within The Kremlin.

Following the theme of the enormous Tsar Bell, it weighs a whopping 39 tons — making it one of the world’s largest cannons even though it has never been shot.

And while its size may be impressive on its own, what makes this cannon so special is that it’s adorned with intricate carvings, ornaments, inscriptions, and a figure of a horse-riding Tsar Feodor the Bellringer.

  • walking tours in Moscow

10 – Join a tour of the Terem Palace | the Kremlin

Terem Palace, Moscow

A stunning, fairytale-like palace that’s steeped in history and detail, the five-story Terem Palace is one of the most underrated attractions within The Kremlin. However, as part of the official residence of the Russian President, much of it is off-limits to snap-happy tourists.

That said, there’s still plenty to be seen in the accessible areas by joining a group tour: a beautiful white-stone carved staircase; curved, decorated, and painted ceilings; and an enchanting low-vaulted Antechamber with lancet windows.

The Red Square

As we move away from the Kremlin, our next stop is the most photographed, picturesque public area in the country.

Flanked by gorgeous, colorful towers and buildings, the Red Square is the most famous square in all of Russia — and one that’s steeped in history, patriotism, and communist symbolism.

Home to some of Moscow’s greatest landmarks including St Basil’s Cathedral (featuring its iconic onion domes), Lenin Mausoleum, GUM department store (an architectural masterpiece that is the most famous shopping mall in Russia), The State History Museum, and more, it’s not just a sight to see in Moscow but also one that has been seen by hundreds of millions from around the world.

11 – Make your way inside St. Basil’s Cathedral | Red Square

St. Basil’s Cathedral, Moscow

Opened in 1930 after his death and standing at more than 12 meters tall, it presents as both a unique and macabre site — and, considering the life-like nature of the body, certainly isn’t for the faint of heart.

Note: Entrance is free of charge, but expect to be searched by security before being allowed in.

15 – Ride the Moscow Metro, enjoying the beautiful stations along the way

Moscow Metro, Russia

As we leave the Red Square, the next cab off the rank is Moscow’s unbelievable artistic Metro network (rivaled only in beauty by that of Stockholm). Constructed between the 1930s and 1950s, its stations were built by hand with a wide range of artistic themes — from socialist realist to Slavic pagan.

Tips: The best way to experience them is as part of a Moscow Metro tour, which can be booked online. However, if you prefer exploring solo, then make sure to visit the Mayakovskaya Metro Station which is known for its seemingly endless archways.

You may also check out Dostoyevskaya, named after a famous writer with murals depicting his stories. The Ploshchad Revolutsii Metro Station is another option where a handful of Socialist statues provide a wonderful contrast to the red marble arches.

Don’t miss Izmailovo Park , which is an enormous 300-hectare space that plays host to souvenir vendors, forest walking paths and even an ice rink in winter.

With so much to see in the district, savvy travelers typically opt for a guided tour.

The Group Travel Leader

courtesy Party Animal Travel and Tours

Checking in with Jerry Thorne

Fast facts about jerry thorne.

Jerry Thorne is the  president of Party Animal Travel and Tours in  Westland, Michigan.

Party Animal Travel started in 1986 as a small venture. In 2001, Thorne and his wife purchased a local travel agency and opened what became today’s Party Animal Travel and Tours. The company plans 250 tours per year for groups consisting of travelers of a wide age range. The company also operates as a full-scale travel agency.

Born: Garden City, Michigan

Education: The Travel Academy in Southfield, Michigan

Employment: Thorne served as a registered nurse for 27 years. He and his wife opened Party Animals Travel and Tours while he was still working as a nurse; he continued to work both jobs until he retired from nursing in 2019.

Family: Thorne has been married to his wife, Skee, for 35 years.

Hobbies: Besides travel, Thorne enjoys time at home with his 15-year-old cat.

W hen Jerry Thorne was 16, he showed up at a travel agency with a wad of money he had scraped together from part-time jobs and asked for a cruise ticket.

“She never checked my age,” said Thorne, president of Party Animal Travel and Tours. “She looked at my handful of money and booked me on a Carnival Cruise. I went home and asked my parents if someone could take me to the airport tomorrow because I booked a cruise.”

Thorne’s initiative to see the world beyond Michigan’s upper peninsula continued into adulthood. He eventually created Party Animal Travel and Tours with his wife; the company is   celebrating its 35th anniversary this year.

The company’s enduring popularity shows that a lot of unforgettable fun can come from dedicated hard work.

Bailing on Hay

Every summer break growing up found Thorne baling hay at his grandparents’ farm in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

“My friends would tell me they went to Disney World or some other great place,” said Thorne. “I knew there was something better out there.”

Thorne carried with him this desire to travel until he booked a cruise with his own money.

“I went and had the time of my life,” said Thorne. “That was the last year I baled hay.”

Thorne also enjoyed medicine, so he became an emergency medical technician and later a registered nurse. Since his love of travel had not lessened over time, he used his funds from nursing to invest in a travel agency with his wife, Skee, as vice president. The couple initially started the company out of their home. Thorne kept his job as a nurse while he poured his free time into the fledgling travel agency.

“I would work at the agency from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.,” said Thorne. “Then I would leave the agency and change into my scrubs. I would work as a nurse until midnight. I had the best of both worlds.”

Party Animal Travel and Tours faced an immediate crisis right after its start. A month after its purchase, September 11, 2001, brought the travel world to a halt. Though the company had a rough start, over the years, the business grew by selling both individual travel and motorcoach trips.

Road to Success

Thorne tried out his first group tour on a whitewater rafting trip at the New River in West Virginia. Word of the trip’s popularity began to spread.

“It started small,” said Thorne. “Then people would walk into our office saying that they had heard about our latest tour and wanted to get involved. People let me know trips they had always wanted to take. Eventually, we were doing 20 tours per month. It was a huge explosion.”

Thorne also quickly learned what type of tour he didn’t want to sell on his first motorcoach tour to Europe.

“It was horrific,” said Thorne. “We were always hurried from one place to another. It was 14 hours on a bus in a day. When we came back, I said we have to do something different than this. We started having fun on the bus. We started playing games doing more hands-on experiences.”

Motorcoach rides turned into part of the tour by incorporating unusual entertainment like an onboard magician. Experiential travel also became part of the norm, with hands-on activities that went beyond the typical tour. Additional activities added some adrenaline to the experience, with adventures like skydiving and bungee jumping.

The company’s lighthearted fun is even built into its motto: “Spending our children’s inheritance one trip at a time.” Groups know to expect a good time emptying their bucket list with Party Animal Travel and Tours.

In a typical year, the company’s 2,800 customers go on 112 tours, with about 70% domestic and 30% international. Thorne usually accompanies about 50% of the tours himself and sends other employees on trips he can’t attend.

Thorne attributes a lot of the company’s growth to his wife and other staff.

“The company would not be a success without Skee’s support and daily insight,” said Thorne. “I come up with the ideas, and she makes it all happen. The backroom is the hard job, with nonstop changes and stress from cancellations. We have a wonderful team of staff that work around the clock to make all these tours happen.”

Drive-Through Travel

Thorne’s medical background has often proved an asset on tours with primarily senior travelers.

“When a customer becomes ill, they like it when someone has medical knowledge,” said Thorne. “Those skills haven’t left me. I am still licensed. Once, one of our customers fell and fractured his skull. I was able to ensure he got the best medical care.”

Though his medical skills were useful in past tours, they became a critical piece of the company’s tours once the pandemic hit in 2020.

Thorne used his nursing background to develop COVID-19 assessment procedures to determine who could safely travel with the group. Party Animal Travel and Tours’ office building’s drive-through window from its days as a restaurant started becoming part of the procedure. Thorne used the drive-through window to pass out travel documents and conduct COVID-19 assessments for customers.

Other typical pandemic procedures — mandatory masks, bus sanitation and spaced-out seating — helped build back customer confidence in the company. The company started with half-day tours in June.

“We would ask the passengers — that if they felt comfortable with the tour — to do us a favor and tell someone else,” said Thorne. “It was the reassurance of the peers that started building the travel back up again.”

Thorne is now focused on assisting his travelers in getting their vaccines. He plans to offer some tours where everyone is vaccinated to further assure his passengers of their safety.

Party Animal Travel and Tours is on the rebound with 112 motorcoach tours now scheduled and more to be announced.

“People have the urge to travel,” said Thorne. “People are calling us saying they need to go somewhere. We had a husband and wife come in yesterday with cash saying they need a vacation.”

Thorne can understand the feeling. Now he gets to be the one to turn a handful of cash into a dream come true.

Destination F aves

• Animal attractions: “I took the customers to a sloth sanctuary, a kangaroo orphanage and a monkey rescue facility.”

• Tuscany: “My Party Animals love hands-on experiences. They’ve had dinner at the top of a mountain in Tuscany. The surprise there was that each member of the tour had to take a position in the kitchen to make dinner for each other.”

• P laces with a “Wow” experience: “We have hopped on camels in Egypt, soared over the outback in balloons over Australia, rafted the rivers in West Virginia and had many other incredible adventures.”

My party of 6 did a VIP tour at Disneyland for $6,100. The perks made it worth every penny.

  • I paid $6,100 for my party of six to do a VIP tour at Disneyland.
  • This price included the cost of the VIP tour, park-hopper tickets, and a tip for the tour guide .
  • As VIPs, we didn't have to wait in line for rides and got a last-minute character meet and greet.

Insider Today

It's hard to imagine forking over about $6,100 for a day at Disneyland . But that was my bill for a six-person family vacation ― and it was worth it.

For my nephew's fourth birthday, we decided to book a VIP tour and take on both Disneyland and California Adventure in one jam-packed day.

Although the price of a VIP tour varies based on the time of year, I paid $4,900 for a seven-hour experience, not including the price of park tickets.

Because we wanted to see both parks, and had to purchase tickets to do the tour, we chose to purchase park-hopper tickets. In total, I spent about $6,100, including the tip for our tour guide.

Here's what our VIP-tour experience was like.

We started enjoying all the perks as soon as we met our VIP tour guide

We met our guide at the VIP tour desk inside Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa . She explained that she'd be with us all day and would personalize the itinerary to make sure we got to do everything we wanted to.

She also told us we could go on all the rides we wanted without waiting in any lines, which was a huge perk since we were traveling with two small kids.

Throughout the day, our guide used our phones to snap pictures of us around the parks. Taking unique group photos isn't easy, so this was an incredible perk.

Another pleasant surprise was that we'd often get off a ride to find our guide waiting for us with water or popcorn.

The VIP experience made traveling with small children much easier

When we went on Radiator Springs Racers in California Adventure, our guide entertained my 2-year-old niece, who was too small to ride. This meant all the adults got to experience the ride with my nephew.

When we crossed into Disneyland, we went straight for the carousel. Horses and benches on the ride are first-come, first-served, but our guide reserved a bench for us. This was incredibly helpful because my niece, who was starting to get cranky, was able to sit next to her dad.

While we were on the carousel, our guide worked her magic and set up a character meet-and-greet with Anna and Elsa from "Frozen."

Typically, there's a long line to meet characters at Disneyland. With a VIP guide, however, we got to go in first.

The kids were mesmerized, and we appreciated the cleverly-arranged pick-me-up to reengage them.

Our guide arranged a unique birthday celebration for my nephew, and secured us VIP seating for the parade

We enjoyed lunch at Blue Bayou, which was spectacular. Although the meal wasn't included in the price of our VIP tour, our guide secured the last-minute reservation, which would have been almost impossible to get on our own.

She even made arrangements for a Mickey Mouse-themed cake to be delivered for my nephew's birthday celebration.

After lunch, we had time for a few more rides before taking our seats for the parade.

We were in a special roped-off section for VIP guests and could see every float up close.

Overall, the VIP experience was totally worth it

For a great deal of money, we were able to do two parks in one day and never waited in a line. We had concierge access to a character meet-and-greet and last-minute dining reservations, including a birthday cake.

Among the perks, our guide pushed the stroller, met us with water bottles and snacks after rides, took action shots of the family, and got us into the evening parade with VIP seats.

The trip of a lifetime with family was worth paying for.

Karl Wallinger, Who Sang With World Party and the Waterboys, Dies at 66

As a songwriter and instrumentalist as well, he blended pop and folk influences into music that helped define college radio in the 1980s and ’90s.

Karl Wallinger, a young man with curly brown hair wearing a brown jacket and dark glasses, stands on a stage playing an acoustic guitar (left-handed) and smiling.

By Clay Risen

Karl Wallinger, a Welsh singer-songwriter who helped define college radio in the 1980s and ’90s as a member of the Waterboys and the founder of World Party, died on Sunday at his home in Hastings, England. He was 66.

His daughter, Nancy Zamit, confirmed the death but did not provide a cause. Mr. Wallinger suffered a brain aneurysm in 2001 that forced him to stop performing for several years.

Following on the heels of the post-punk, new wave and new romantic movements of the early 1980s, Mr. Wallinger embodied something of a throwback to the classical pop and folk styles of an earlier era, with music and lyrics influenced by the Beatles and Bob Dylan.

Though he rejected the label “retro,” onstage he looked like a stylish hippie, with long stringy hair and tinted round glasses that would have fit in at Woodstock.

Mr. Wallinger was widely admired for his instrumental skills. He primarily played keyboards for the Waterboys, an influential folk-rock band founded by the Scottish musician Mike Scott, but on his own he usually played a guitar — which, though he was right-handed, he played upside down, with his left hand.

After two albums with the Waterboys, Mr. Wallinger left in 1985 to form World Party, which was at first a one-man act: He wrote all the music and recorded all the parts in the studio. Only when he began to tour did he add members and make it a true band.

His lyrics could be acerbic. But his best-known work, like “Put the Message in the Box,” from the 1990 World Party album, “Goodbye Jumbo,” reveled in a spacey, idealistic view of the world:

And if you listen now You might hear a new sound coming in As an old one disappears See the world in just one grain of sand

Many of his songs carried an environmental message, though in interviews Mr. Wallinger insisted that his work was not political or message driven.

“I’ve always thought it should be something to do with healing or finding things out about the world that have truth,” he said in a 2022 interview with the magazine The Big Takeover. “I’m not left or right wing; I don’t even think of in terms of that. I just want people to have what they need to get through living on the planet.”

Karl Edmund De Vere Wallinger was born on Oct. 19, 1957, in Prestatyn, a town in northern Wales about 40 miles west of Liverpool, England. His father, Julian, was an architect, and his mother, Phyllis (Owens) Wallinger, held various jobs.

He attended Charterhouse, a prestigious private school in England that also produced Peter Gabriel and many of the other early members of Genesis. (Mr. Wallinger missed Mr. Gabriel by a few years.)

Intent on becoming a musician, he moved to London after graduation and worked for a music publishing company, processing royalty checks. He spent his lunch hours fingering a piano in the company offices until one day a producer heard him, gave him an audition and signed him to a contract.

In his off hours, Mr. Wallinger played with a string of small, short-lived bands, and worked for a few years as the musical director for “The Rocky Horror Show” in London.

At the invitation of Mr. Scott, he left theater to join the Waterboys for their second album, “A Pagan Place” (1984). He also played on the group’s third release, “This Is the Sea,” before leaving the group to start a solo career.

The first World Party album, “Private Revolution” (1986), included his first hit, “Ship of Fools,” which reached No. 27 on the Billboard Top 40 and No. 42 in Britain. Sinead O’Connor contributed vocals on two tracks, and in return Mr. Wallinger contributed to her own debut album, “The Lion and the Cobra,” released the next year.

Several well-reviewed albums followed, including “Goodbye Jumbo” (1990), “Bang!” (1993) and “Egyptology” (1997). World Party toured internationally, including as the opening act for 10,000 Maniacs.

Mr. Wallinger also worked in film. He was the musical director for the score of the 1994 movie “Reality Bites” and contributed songs to the soundtracks of “Clueless” (1995), “The Matchmaker” (1997) and “Armageddon” (1998).

But as the 1990s progressed, he and World Party found themselves sidelined by the darker, screechier sounds of grunge in the United States and the power-pop sound of British bands like Oasis and Blur.

Then his manager died and his label went bankrupt. His brain aneurysm left him without his right peripheral vision.

Mr. Wallinger did have one bit of good fortune, however. In the mid-1990s, he spent 10 minutes writing a song called “She’s the One,” which he recorded for “Egyptology.” Two years later, without his approval, Robbie Williams rerecorded it, and his version reached No. 1 on the British pop charts, producing a windfall of royalties for Mr. Wallinger.

“So we didn’t have to sell the kids to chemical experiments or anything,” he told The Chicago Sun-Times in 2012. “I think I’m a bit of a lucky person.”

Along with his daughter, he is survived by his wife, Suzie Zamit; their son, Louis Wallinger; his brother, Tim Wallinger; his sisters, Karen Wallinger and Allyson Wallinger; and two grandchildren.

Mr. Wallinger slowly returned to recording and performing after his aneurysm. In 2006, he undertook a much-delayed promotional tour for his 2000 album, “Dumbing Up.” He co-produced Peter Gabriel’s 2008 album “Big Blue Ball,” on which Mr. Gabriel collaborated with various artists; Mr. Wallinger also co-wrote and performed on several tracks.

And in 2012 he released “Arkeology,” a five-CD set of 70 tracks that includes demos, live recordings and alternative versions of many of Mr. Wallinger’s World Party songs.

As he noted in several interviews, his time away from music had overlapped with dramatic changes in the industry, in particular the shift toward digital production and distribution, which made his style of lush instrumentation and album-centric composition an anachronism.

But he also considered himself older and wiser, and he seemed comfortable with time moving forward.

“I just got lucky in a lot of ways, in a lot of ways,” he told the Canadian newspaper The Calgary Herald in 2013. “I just concentrated on things and listened to things, but I didn’t approach writing with anything other than a happy stoned expression on my face, actually. It’s one of those things that happens, luckily. It’s a strange thing.”

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are bringing their romance to yet another venue — Gucci's official Oscars afterparty!

The couple, who just jetted back from Swift's Eras Tour shows in Singapore , landed in Los Angeles just in time to celebrate the 96th annual Academy Awards and step out for an event following the awards ceremony together. The pair attended Gucci's 16th annual event known as "The Party" on Sunday night, which was held at talent manager Guy Oseary's home.

The Grammy winner, 34, and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 34, were among the A-listers on the guest list, which also included Oscar winners like Billie Eilish and Cillian Murphy , as well as stars Anya Taylor Joy , Austin Butler , Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence , among others.

"They were on the patio and in great moods. She had a very happy, giant smile," a guest at the party tells PEOPLE. "He was protective of her and she was delightful and glowing — they seemed very happy together and loving the night."

Several of the couple's friends were also in attendance, including Lana Del Rey , Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum and Swift's tour mate Sabrina Carpenter and her rumored boyfriend Barry Keoghan , who also recently attended the Eras Tour in Singapore .

The pop superstar and three-time Super Bowl champion's post-Oscars outing comes off the heels of Swift's six-night Eras Tour run in Singapore.

Before the "Cruel Summer" singer's string of sold-out shows wrapped up on Saturday, Kelce traveled to attend the fifth and sixth nights .

During night five, Swift gave a sweet nod to her boyfriend in the crowd, as she  changed the lyrics  of her Midnights hit "Karma" to give him a shout out by singing, per fan  videos , “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs coming straight home to me."

While in Singapore, the pair was spotted spending quality time together . Fans captured footage of the two enjoying a casual date night out a mall.

After the shows — which marked the end of the Eras Tour's leg across Australia, New Zealand and Asian — Swift took to Instagram to express her gratitude for the success of her six-night residency. "We got to play 6 shows in Singapore for the most wonderful crowds — just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who traveled and put so much effort into being at our shows," the "Anti-Hero" singer wrote. It won't be long until Swift sets back out on the next leg of the Eras Tour. In May, she'll jet-set off to Europe for the next string of international dates, which begins with a series of dates in Paris and goes on to last through much of the summer.

Despite having a little over two months off before taking the stage again, the pop star won't be relaxing much. Her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department , is due out April 19.

"See you in May when we get back to the Eras Tour!! In the meantime I’ve got an album to release… 🤍✍️," Swift also wrote in the caption of her post commemorating the end of her Singapore shows.

Why All Eyes Were on Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan at 2024 Oscars Vanity Fair After Party

Sabrina carpenter and barry keoghan stepped out for 2024 oscars vanity fair after party march 10, just a week after they were spotted at taylor swift’s eras tour together in singapore..

We can't hit ignore on this romance.

Because Barry Keoghan and Sabrina Carpenter all but went red carpet official at the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscars After Party on March 10. While the duo didn't pose for photos together in front of the step-and-repeat, they did walk into the event together, and cozied up for the cameras inside.

For the party held at Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills, California, Sabrina, 24, wore a Tory Burch reptile-print corset top dress with a sheer, jeweled skirt, complete with silver dangly earrings and her signature wavy blonde hair style. Meanwhile, Barry, 31, was decked out in an Amiri look, including a bedazzled short suit jacket and simple black slacks. ( See every Vanity Fair after party look here ).

The Saltburn star—who shares 19-month-old son Brando with ex Alyson Kierans —also topped off his look with a few accessories, including a watch and a friendship bracelet with Sabrina's name written across the front. Barry's bracelet was undoubtedly a talisman from Taylor Swift 's Eras Tour, which he attended in Singapore to see Sabrina perform as the opening act earlier this month.

And after the Vanity Fair party, the couple was even seen heading out to  Beyoncé and Jay-Z 's Oscars after party. To keep warm, Sabrina borrowed Barry's jacket, as she was seen donning it while walking out of the party.

Barry and Sabrina's romance, like forks, is almost everywhere these days. In addition to Barry attending the Singapore leg of the Eras Tour, the couple also spent Valentine's Day together in a multiple-day excursion that included dinner at Nobu in West Hollywood.

And while this couple didn't take home any Oscars ( catch all the winners here ), they are certainly in the running for best after party looks. See for yourself below.

Elevation Worship Announces New Tour: Praise Party Summer 2024

tours and party

Coming off the heels of their sold-out Elevation Nights run in February, GRAMMY® Award-winning Elevation Worship announces Praise Party, a brand new tour for the band with eight outdoor shows including New York City’s Central Park, which is part of a special summer concert series where the group will be the only Christian act. The tour also brings Elevation Worship to new cities including Boca Raton, Cincinnati, Gilford, and Milwaukee.

Tickets will be available to the general public on March 15th, and a special presale is happening on March 13th. Beginning today, concertgoers can sign up here to receive a presale code, which will be sent on the 13th at 9:30 am Eastern.

The sold-out run of Elevation Nights became one of the largest Christian tours in history, averaging more than 11,600 tickets sold each night. Part of that history-making tour included the last stop in Philadelphia where they sold more than 14,000 tickets - the most tickets sold by a Christian artist in that city in more than two decades.

Nicki minaj appears to yell at her hair girl during seattle concert, nicki minaj appears to yell at her hair girl ... during 'pf2' tour stop, 312 3/11/2024 12:12 pm pt.

Nicki Minaj appears to have chewed out a stagehand during her most recent tour date -- and it was all caught on video.

The rapper is in the middle of her "Pink Friday 2" tour, and on Sunday ... she was out in Seattle for a concert -- where some behind-the-scenes drama unfolded between Nicki and someone on her team, or at least someone on production.

Check it out ... Nicki and this woman -- who seems to be trying to work on NM's hair -- get into a little argument ... and it's mostly Nicki looking exacerbated/frustrated with this lady.

Before the woman can do anything for Nicki's 'do -- her boss side-steps her and shoos her away as she's getting ready to go back onstage ... getting back to business and carrying on with the show.

Some are calling Nicki's reaction a bit dramatic ... but others are actually defending her.

There are reports of her Seattle show experiencing other hiccups -- including apparent missed cues and delayed wardrobe changes. On its face, it would appear there were some hair issues as well. Nicki hasn't addressed this yet ... and hasn't gotten back to us either.
