Live Music Is Back in a Big Way, and These Are the 20 Shows We’re Most Excited About

Your favorite bands are hitting the road again. here’s your full guide.

Elton John points to the crowd onstage during his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour

Last year, when the Rolling Stones tour grossed over $130 million and the Eagles earned $59 million, “we were all doing victory dances,” says Andy Gensler, editor of the concert industry bible Pollstar . His 2021 cover headline was “The Great Return. “Then came Omicron , and we stopped dancing,” he adds.

But now things are looking up again — way up. “There are more tours getting going right now than we know what to do with,” Gensler says. “Fans have so much to choose from in 2022.” To pare down that bounty, we’ve selected the 20 acts we’re most excited to see, based on both the rarity of the event and the sheer power of the performer.

GOT BACK. NORTH AMERICAN TOUR 2022 “I said at the end of the last tour that I’d see you next time. I said I was going to get back to you. Well, I got back!” - Paul More info: https://t.co/KhK4WK8Wlr #PaulMcCartneyGotBack pic.twitter.com/106IYKd4fz — Paul McCartney (@PaulMcCartney) February 18, 2022

 Paul McCartney

When:  April 28-June 16

Why we’re excited:  Brace yourselves. This year, the “cute” Beatle turns 80. Yet, in the lead-up to the event he has been as busy as a teenager. In 2021, Sir Paul released a solo album, McCartney III ; spoke at length with Rick Rubin for an informative docuseries, McCartney 3,2,1 ; published a 900-plus-page tome that detailed the lyrics to his classic songs; and reappeared as his younger self in the eight-hour, you-are-there Peter Jackson version of the 1970 Beatles breakup film,  Get Back . In cheeky deference to that last project, Paul has titled his new tour “Got Back,” studding it with stops in cities he hasn’t played in eons, including Fort Worth (which hasn’t seen the star since a 1976 gig with Wings) and Baltimore (where he last played in 1964). One hopes the tour doesn’t wind him, because two days after it concludes, 80 candles will appear before him, begging to be blown.

Why we’re excited:  Fifteen years have passed since the former Led Zeppelin howler toured with bluegrass/country star Alison Krauss. Their understated collaboration on the  Raising Sand  album in 2007 became an unexpected million-seller, as well as a top Grammy winner. Even so, they didn’t offer a follow-up until this past November, with  Raise the Roof,  a work that weaves British traditional elements into the Americana style that defined their debut. With material that compelling, it’s doubtful any attendee will miss yet another run at “Stairway.”

When:  Now through Nov. 19

Why we’re excited:   The artist who captured the full ache of teen rejection in the hit “At Seventeen” has decided to put a period on her career at 70. Thankfully, before Ian makes good on that promise, she’ll perform one last tour, in the process summarizing a 50-year run marked by consistently literary lyrics and sophisticated music. From her groundbreaking 1967 hit about an interracial romance (“Society’s Child”) through ravishing compositions like “Stars” (which has been covered by everyone from Nina Simone to Mel Tormé), Ian has distinguished herself as one of pop’s most empathic singer-songwriters.

Foo Fighters

When:  April-June and July-Oct.

Why we’re excited:  Dave Grohl could well be the hardest-working man in rock. In just the last year, he released a new Foo album, published a memoir and starred in a horror film, titled  Studio 666 . Moreover, last June Grohl’s band became the performing equivalent of a canary in a coal mine by becoming the first act to play Madison Square Garden since the March 2020 shutdown. Now the Foos are back for a multi-continent run of shows that will shuttle between South American dates starting this month, U.S. stops beginning in late April and a European jaunt in June, only to culminate one month later with North American gigs that run straight through Halloween.

When:  June 14-Aug. 13

Why we’re excited:  Big changes have taken place in Chick-ville since the pandemic took hold. In June of 2020, the trio amended their name, axing the “Dixie” part to protest the term’s historic connection to slavery. One month later they released their first album in 14 years, Gaslighter , which  shot straight into  Billboard ’s top 5. Together, that gives the Chicks both new songs to mix in with their hits and a renewed sense of purpose.

Why we’re excited:  Talk about your long goodbyes. All the way back in September of 2018, Elton began his retirement tour. Four years later, he’s still at it. This month, the “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” show picked up in Europe, leading to the Rocket Man’s 75th birthday, which will take place on the 25th. Directly after that he’ll continue a world jaunt that’s set to last through 2023. But don’t get complacent. Elton may never play your town again, so now’s probably your last chance to hear “Your Song” in person.

Why we’re excited:  The pandemic wasn’t the only nightmare the members of Journey had to deal with over the last two years. Half the band sued the other half over financial issues, resulting in the departure of two of their longest-standing players (Ross Valory and Steve Smith). Of course, Journey has survived far worse, including the departure of their lead singer, Steve Perry, who was replaced in 2007 by the improbably perfect Arnel Pineda. (Born in the Philippines, Pineda used to play in a Journey tribute group.) As the band approaches its 50th year, they’ve got a new album,  Freedom,  meant to arrive sometime during this road show.

Why we’re excited:  Playing an album front to back has become a central draw of classic-rock concerts. It’s an especially enticing one when that album is  Hotel California,  one of the biggest sellers of all time, at 26 million and counting. To flesh out the band’s performance of it, they’ll be backed by a 46-piece orchestra and a 22-person choir. A second set each night will boast hits from the group’s other albums. Oh, and in case you’re wondering how they can re-create the creamy harmonies of those original recordings since the 2016 death of singer Glenn Frey, his son Deacon, who’s been touring with the band for the last five years, can re-create his dad’s tone to a T.

Van Morrison

When:  April 24-May 10 and Oct. 7-9 (only at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas)

Why we’re excited:  Van Morrison has long been known as one of the world’s greatest singers. Unfortunately, he’s just as well known as one of music’s crankiest men. On the latter front, he outdid himself over the last two years by protesting lockdowns in his Irish homeland, as well as promoting what the BBC labeled conspiracy theories about the virus. He even released three songs to amplify those views, one of which featured fellow anti-vaxxer Eric Clapton. Luckily, fans come to Van for his singing not his science, so the focus will remain the magic of “Moondance.”

Red Hot Chili Peppers

When:  July 23-Sept. 18

Why we’re excited:  Arguably the most creative guitarist the Chili Peppers has ever had is John Frusciante. But his history with the band has been fraught. He ditched them in 1992, only to return six years later, before leaving again in 2009. Now the talented axman is at last back in the fold for what will be his first tour with the Peppers in 15 years. What’s more, he’s featured on their new album,  Unlimited Love,  set to arrive later this year.

Mötley Crüe/Def Leppard/Poison/Joan Jett and the Blackhearts

When:  June 16-Sept. 9

Why we’re excited:  Break out the Aqua Net — hair metal lives! The most anticipated tour of the coming summer will revive the hard-partying  rawk  of the ’80s. Though Mötley Crüe loudly announced their retirement seven years ago, the lure of this mega-tour clearly inspired them to “un-retire.” While the three other acts on the bill can often be found on the road, the chance to see them all together may well be a singular event.

Tears for Fears

When:  May 20-June 25

Why we’re excited:  Rare is the heritage group that refuses to rest on their laurels. This year, Tears for Fears became one of the few by releasing a collection of new songs — their first in nearly two decades — that broke the mold. “We need new material to keep us excited,” Tears member Curt Smith recently told  The New York Times . Not that the show will be a total reinvention. The old hits will still be on order.

Bonnie Raitt

When:  March 28-Nov. 19

Why we’re excited:  Most musicians endure the road for one reason — the thrill of the show itself. But as Raitt recently told AARP, she loves “every part of it.” Her enthusiasm shows. At 72, the singer has grown deeper than ever into the maturity of her material. Better yet, in concert she can show off more of her fleet slide-guitar work than normally turns up on her studio recordings. For this tour, she’ll add to her classics the self-penned songs from her first album in six years,  Just Like That,  which includes material inspired by the losses (both personal and collective) caused by the pandemic.

When:  Now until April 14

Why we’re excited:  The Nobel Prize winner began his “never ending tour” 24 years ago and, following a pause for COVID, he’s soldiering on through his 80th year. Dylan’s most recent album,  Rough and Rowdy Ways,  has earned some of his best reviews in ages. The tour will highlight an ever-changing set list plucked from the artist’s vast catalog.

Rod Stewart

When:  June 11-Sept. 7

Why we’re excited:  Rod titled his latest tour “The Hits,” just in case anyone might worry for a second that they wouldn’t hear “Maggie May.” Even so, the set list ventures beyond his top sellers. Some of the songs he hasn’t sung in years, including “The Killing of Georgie (Part I and II),” a groundbreaking 1976 recording that offered one of the first sympathetic portrayals of a gay person to make the pop charts.

New Edition and Jodeci

When:  Now until April 10

Why we’re excited:  The mid-1980s saw a bold reinvention of R&B, courtesy of the fresh beats and innovative technology of hip-hop . The resulting trend, new jack swing, greatly impacted both R&B and pop radio. Two of the cleverest, and most successful, groups in that movement were New Edition and Jodeci. Now they’ve teamed up for “The Culture” tour, adding ex-Gap Band singer Charlie Wilson for a creative trifecta.

Keith Urban

When:  March 25-April 2 and May 27-Nov. 5

Why we’re excited:  Like John Mayer, Keith Urban is one singer-songwriter who only shows his full talents as a guitarist live. While casual fans might expect to hear his popular songs, his most dedicated followers know that Urban’s skills as a musician will also get special play.

Why we’re excited:  Few groups offer as visually stunning a presentation as Kraftwerk. Their shows are gorgeously designed events, with outsize images projected over the musicians that vividly illustrate the mechanical themes of the music. Even better, those images will appear in 3D, viewable through complimentary glasses given to each ticket holder. An added bonus: Kraftwerk draws exceptionally diverse crowds to their shows, comprising hip-hop fans, dance devotees, electronic aficionados, avant-gardists and stone-cold rockers.

The Zombies

When:  March 28-July 5

Why we’re excited:  Two years ago, when the Zombies were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, singer Colin Blunstone proved that he still commanded one of music’s most flexible voices. The band he fronts may be best known for ’60s hits like “She’s Not There” and “Time of the Season,” but they also became pioneers of chamber pop with the creation of the ornate  Odyssey and Oracle . Selections from that collection will turn up at the shows, along with a clutch of new songs from an album set to arrive later this year.

Roger Waters

When:  July 6-Oct. 8

Why we’re excited:  Perhaps no musician has a better feel for our current world of war and environmental peril than Roger Waters. His concerts are shadowy spectacles, full of compelling menace and late-breaking redemption. Small wonder he titled his latest show “This Is Not a Drill.” Waters has described it as “a stunning indictment of corporate dystopia in which we all struggle to survive” as well as “a call to action to love, protect and share our precious and precarious planet.” The show, to be performed in the round, will cherry-pick songs from throughout Pink Floyd’s catalog along with some new pieces. Waters’ concerts have always been immersive affairs, with impeccable sound and stage design, ever attuned to the dark side.

From the Top, Touring Looks Better Than Ever

Artists have been back on the road for a full year, and the top 10 highest-grossing tours are thriving. Will that success spread?

  • By Dave Brooks

This story is part of Billboard ‘s The Year in Touring package — read more stories about the top acts, tours and venues of 2022 here .

Was 2022 the worst “best year ever?” By some measures, the concert business had its most successful year. From Nov. 1, 2021, to Oct. 31, 2022, the top 10 tours grossed a combined $2.2 billion in ticket sales, according to Billboard Boxscore, 36% more than they did in 2019, the previous full year of touring, and more than four times the $519 million they took in during the pandemic-limited 2021.

Bad Bunny Makes History as Top Touring Act for 2022: The Year in Charts

Some of this growth follows an existing trend. Since 2013, the live business has grown steadily between 5% and 10% a year, thanks to international expansion and an increasing number of megatours. In 2013, eight acts took in over $100 million at the box office — Bon Jovi , P!nk , Bruce Springsteen , Beyoncé , Rihanna , Taylor Swift , The Rolling Stones and the Cirque du Soleil Michael Jackson show.

Trending on Billboard

The bad news, however, is twofold: More work for fewer employees in the wake of pandemic layoffs, plus rising costs for staffing, production and travel, threaten to erode profits. “We are working harder than ever just to try and make sure we don’t lose any ground,” says Jim Cressman, founder and owner of Canadian independent promoter Invictus Entertainment.

Cressman and Live Nation executives say that fans also seem to be changing their concertgoing habits by waiting longer to buy tickets. About 30% of tickets for this year’s Lollapalooza festival in Chicago were purchased five days or fewer before the event, according to Live Nation. It’s a concerning trend for promoters and tour organizers who have become accustomed to scaling event costs up and down based on projections from early sales. Fans are also getting wise to the fact that ticket prices, especially on the secondary market, tend to drop over time.

The names of the top 10 tours won’t surprise anyone who follows the industry. No. 1 is Bad Bunny , who did two tours during this time frame: El Último Tour del Mundo, which ran from February to April and grossed $116 million, and World’s Hottest Tour, which brought in $246 million from August to the end of the Billboard Boxscore touring year; it will run until Dec. 10. The tour dates within this time frame, as well as isolated hometown shows in Puerto Rico, grossed a combined $373.5 million, the third-highest year-end total in Boxscore history after Ed Sheeran ’s $429.5 million in 2018 and The Rolling Stones’ $425 million in 2006.

This is the first year that each tour in the top 10 grossed over $100 million and the top five each took in more than $200 million. Some of that is due to higher ticket prices: Bad Bunny tickets cost an average of $201, while tickets to Sheeran’s No. 1 2019 ÷ (Divide) shows cost an average of $86; the average ticket price of a top 10 tour was $130.76, up from $114.29 in 2019. Some of that growth comes from inflation, of course, while some is from a shift to higher ticket prices in order to capture revenue that once went to the secondary market. “The spending levels are really the same,” says Live Nation Global Touring chairman Arthur Fogel. “It’s just that artists are capturing more of it than ever before.”

Farther down the Top Tours chart, the growth also stays consistent. The top 40 tours grossed a total of $4.6 billion, up from a total of $3.5 billion in 2019, a difference of 32%

The New Scorecard

This year, Billboard Boxscore created a new chart to rank tours by number of tickets sold, not just revenue, although that information had already been included. And although promoters were concerned earlier in 2022 that touring market oversaturation would mean concerts drew fewer fans, the chart actually shows the opposite — major concerts attracted larger audiences without cannibalizing other shows. In 2022, a combined 17.1 million people saw the top 10 attended tours, up 21% from a combined 2019 attendance of 14.1 million. This year also marked the first time that 19 of the top 20 attended tours drew over 900,000 fans.

The top 10 tours also represent one of the youngest lists in recent years, with an average headliner age of 49.3, as opposed to 51.2 in 2019 and 54.6 in 2021. The oldest act was The Rolling Stones — Mick Jagger and Keith Richards will both be 79 by the end of the year, and Ron Wood is 75. The youngest acts were Harry Styles and Bad Bunny, both of whom turned 28 this year.

As in years past, Live Nation dominated the business, exclusively promoting half of the top 20 — which grossed a combined $1.5 billion — as well as Bad Bunny’s stadium shows, in collaboration with Cárdenas Marketing Network, and some shows for My Chemical Romance and Paul McCartney . AEG Presents follows with a handful of global tours, including Elton John , that combined accounted for $843 million. CMN powered Bad Bunny at No. 1 and Daddy Yankee at No. 13, while Mercury Concerts led the Latin American dates for Guns N’ Roses . Sheeran, at No. 3, was promoted by a mix of buyers throughout Europe.

On the agency front, the leader is Creative Artists Agency, with eight acts in the top 20: Styles, Red Hot Chili Peppers , The Weeknd , Lady Gaga , the Eagles , Dua Lipa (WME reps her in Europe), Justin Bieber and My Chemical Romance. Wasserman Music had four clients in the top 20 — Sheeran, Coldplay , Kenny Chesney and Billie Eilish — while UTA had two: Bad Bunny and Guns N’ Roses.

Three of the top tours — John, McCartney and The Rolling Stones — have global touring deals with AEG but don’t have a traditional booking agency deal. WME had only one artist in the top 20 with Daddy Yankee. So did the Neal Agency, started in February by Austin Neal, son of longtime WME agent Kevin Neal. Austin formed the agency to represent Morgan Wallen , who took a hiatus from touring after his use of a racial slur was caught on video in 2021. Wallen grossed $128 million in 2022 from 66 shows.

Most Anticipated Tours Of 2022

The Most Anticipated Tours Of 2022

UPROXX Music

While we got a taste of it in the latter half of 2021 , it’s now been several years since there was a normal touring year. And though 2022’s touring schedule is hardly set in stone for most musicians, it should see many artists doing their best to provide live entertainment to fans across the country. From stadium tours to clubs, these are just some of the artists we’re most excited to see, with more to be announced as the year goes by. Check out the most anticipated tours of 2022 below.

Bad Bunny 2021 P FKN R concert

Not only was Bad Bunny 2021’s most streamed artist in the world on Spotify , but the Puerto Rican star’s 2022 El Último Tour Del Mundo (translation: The Last Tour on Earth) smashed a number of sales records as soon as it was announced. When the pre-sale for the tour began in April, over 480,000 tickets were sold in less than a week. On April 15th alone, he sold more tickets on a single day than any tour since Jay-Z and Beyoncé in 2018. All stats and trivia aside, the reggaeton rapper is one of the biggest acts in the world and his on-stage persona reflects that. Look no further than the hyper-futurism of his performance on “Lo Siento BB:/” with Tainy and Julietta Venegas at the AMAs.

With their fifth album coming soon, 2022 is shaping up to be the year of Big Thief. The band’s hotly-anticipated, impressively massive 20-song effort Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You is out in February, and they have quite a slate of tour dates on the books in support. Starting in late January, the quartet will bring their expanding, experimental Americana sound to life on a run that’s equally as ambitious as their new album, spanning nearly six months (with some breaks) and hitting cities across Europe and the US.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Bon Iver (@boniver)

Bon Iver put on some concerts last year to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Bon Iver, Bon Iver , but if you missed out on those, Justin Vernon and company are hitting the road this year . During the first half of 2022, they’ll travel across North America, then closer to the end of the year, fans in Europe and the UK will get the chance to see the show, too. How great can you expect it to be? Well, if you ask Uproxx’s Philip Cosores, he’ll tell you that Bon Iver “ might be the best live band in the world right now .”

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Claire Cottrill (@clairo)

After finding success within the bedroom pop genre on her 2019 debut album Immunity , Clairo made a decisive pivot to mesmerizing piano ballads inspired by iconic ’70s songwriters like Joni Mitchell on her 2021 album Sling . The shift in sound is thanks to Clairo’s new role as caretaker for her adorable dog Joanie (also inspired by Mitchell), which made her fantasize a life of rural domesticity. But her new direction of music also means she’ll take on a whole new stage presence for her 2022 tour. Bringing along breakout UK songwriter Arlo Parks as an opener, Clairo is set to embark on two-month US tour which kicks off in mid-February in Charlotte, North Carolina and comes to a close in April with a tour stop in Atlanta.

When it came time to promote Everyday Life in 2019, Coldplay didn’t tour and vowed not to again until they made great strides in turning their global treks into more environmentally friendly affairs. Well, it appears they’ve made some progress, as they are indeed set to tour in support of 2021’s Music Of The Spheres between March and August after spending “two years consulting with environmental experts to make this tour as sustainable as possible, and, just as importantly, to harness the tour’s potential to push things forward.”

Cordae’s got some mighty big shoes to fill in 2022 — his own. After scoring two Grammy nominations with his debut album, The Lost Boy , the Maryland rapper is gearing up to release its long-awaited follow-up From A Bird’s Eye View . That means a tour to support the new project , which kicks off in February at the Dallas House Of Blues. Given his focus on demonstrating a couple of years’ worth of artistic growth on that album, it makes sense to expect some similar evolution in his live show, which was already a polished, must-see package.

Check out Cordae’s tour dates here . – Aaron Williams

doja-cat-grid.jpeg

Doja Cat’s 2020 was sensational, but it came with an asterisk: A global pandemic shut down her ability to tour with the songs that blew her up on the national stage , leaving her frustrated by a succession of seemingly empty televised performances of her No. 1 hit “ Say So .” While she said that she was worn down from being overworked doing everything but music, good news is on the horizon, as 2022 will see the return of live shows and the opportunity to finally perform her Planet Her hits for an appreciative, live audience. – A.W.

drake-grid.jpeg

So, Drake’s set on Kanye’s Free Larry Hoover concert in LA was a little disappointing, but only in the context of his co-headliner reviving all of his own hits as a sort of mea culpa for the last five years of bluster and nonsense. Drake, who opted to play solely Certified Lover Boy singles — aside from a quick hit of “God’s Plan” from Scorpion — wound up giving something like a preview or dry run of what a Certified Lover Boy tour might look like. He hasn’t announced one yet but given his gift for recalibration in light of Twitter’s responses to his work , it appears probable he’ll be incorporating those critiques for whenever he actually does. – A.W.

Dua Lipa’s shimmering disco-pop album Future Nostalgia was written to be heard in nightclubs everywhere, but that didn’t quite go according to plan thanks to the pandemic. Now armed with several top-charting singles , a new album of revved-up remixes , and a number of showstopping Future Nostalgia livestream performances, Lipa is gearing up to bring her 2020 album to stages across the world in 2022. Bringing along Megan Thee Stallion and Caroline Polachek to set the tone for her concerts as openers, Lipa is plotting a two-month US tour starting in Miami in early February and closing out in Seattle in March.

III may have been released in 2020, but the sister trio are just now gearing up to embark on their supporting tour thanks to years of unpredictability in the live music industry. If Haim’s revved up 2021 Grammy performance was any indication, the band’s WIMPIII tour will be well worth the wait. While Haim have already played a handful of festivals this past year, their official tour kicks off in April in Las Vegas before coming to a close in late July in San Diego.

Jack White has been busy. The former White Stripe has two new albums slated for release in 2022 — Fear Of The Dawn is due April 8 and then Entering Heaven Alive drops a few months later, on July 22 — and he’s wasting no time getting on the road. The cleverly-titled “Supply Chain Issues Tour” kicks off on Fear Of The Dawn ‘s release day in White’s hometown of Detroit and hits large theaters and arenas across the US and Europe through late August. Just don’t expect any cell phone footage from these shows, because your phone’s getting locked up!

Jazmine Sullivan

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jazmine Sullivan (@jazminesullivan)

Jazmine Sullivan began 2021 with her Heaux Tales EP, her first body of work in almost six years. Its 11 tracks and guest appearances from Ari Lennox , HER , and Anderson .Paak amounted to a project that R&B lovers praised and carried close to their hearts for the rest of the year. Sullivan received awards, love, and more as a result of Heaux Tales , and in response, she’s heading out on the road in 2022 for a tour in support of the project. The Heaux Tales tour begins in mid-February with Sullivan performing in a number of major cities across North America for a total of 26 shows.

Justin Bieber

Fans of Justin Bieber are in for quite the treat this year. After two failed attempts to hold a tour for his fifth album Changes , and the eventual release of his sixth full-length effort Justice , Bieber will hit the road for a massive world tour in 2022. It marks his first tour since 2016’s Purpose World Tour. Altogether, the Justice World Tour is comprised of 105 shows in North and South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania while Jaden, ¿Téo?, Eddie Benjamin, and Harry Hudson will serve as opening acts.

Kacey Musgraves

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Kacey Musgraves (@spaceykacey)

A few months after releasing her 2021 standout Star-Crossed , the ( maybe-not-so-country ) star is just days away from getting to tour behind it . Her trek kicks off in January and runs for about a month (so far), hitting major markets like LA, New York, and Nashville along the way. If seeing just Musgraves perform somehow isn’t exciting enough of a prospect, she’s bringing a tremendous pair of openers, King Princess and Muna, along for the ride.

The Killers

View this post on Instagram A post shared by The Killers (@thekillers)

Since The Killers couldn’t tour in support of 2020’s Imploding The Mirage , they went ahead and made another album, Pressure Machine , instead. That one will get a tour, as the band is set to hit the road in the latter half of 2022, hitting North America this summer and fall, between August and October. For a preview of what those shows might look like (or at least a reminder of what a force the band is live), revisit their Tonight Show performances of “Dying Breed” and “When You Were Young” from a few months ago.

Like many of her peers who also saw their public profile rise drastically in 2020, Latto found herself hamstrung by her inability to get out into the world and play her Queen Of Da Souf records live. The Uproxx cover artist had a succession of fan-favorite singles over the past two years, but the corona happened. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise, though, affording her enough off time to effect her name change , and with her headlining set on the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour , she’ll be able to test the waters without assuming as much of the risk.

Little Simz

https://www.instagram.com/p/CU-f95ooHAI/

Little Simz could be currently in the midst of a one-woman British Invasion thanks to her Best of 2021 album Sometimes I Might Be Introvert — the only thing missing is a North American tour . While she almost certainly won’t draw the levels of mass hysteria implied by that prediction, she will have a chance to reinforce her grip on Stateside pop culture, which could ensure that when she returns for a follow-up to SIMBI , there’ll be much more well-deserved fanfare.

lorde-feat.jpg

Lorde may be one of today’s biggest pop stars, but she only emerges into the public eye when she’s releasing new music. That’s why fans were overjoyed Lorde officially began her Solar Power era last year, which included the announcement of a massive 2022 tour. Though actually securing tickets to her 58-date 2022 world tour before it sold out was difficult to say the least , those who are able to attend the singer’s tour are in for a treat. Bringing along openers like Remi Wolf and Marlon Williams, Lorde will kick off her tour by playing shows through major cities in the US starting February 26 before heading over to Europe in May and returning to her New Zealand homeland in 2023.

My Chemical Romance

View this post on Instagram A post shared by My Chemical Romance (@mychemicalromance)

My Chemical Romance played exactly one show on their sold-out reunion tour all the way back in December of 2019, seemingly eons before the world shut down. Their return to the stage was originally scheduled for Riot Fest 2021, but the band ultimately pushed their headlining appearance back one year during a spike in COVID cases last summer. Now, finally, all of the dates have been rescheduled and the band is set to hit the road in the UK and Europe in May of 2022 before returning to the United States next summer. Fingers crossed it actually sticks this time.

Olivia Rodrigo

In 2021, Olivia Rodrigo went from Disney channel lead to certified pop star. She took the world by storm, earned several Grammy nominations , various awards, and even the chance to meet with President Biden without ever having gone on tour. But that’s all about to change this year as the singer is set to embark on her first-ever US and European tour in support of her smash-hit album Sour . Rodrigo’s ( already sold-out ) 47-date tour kicks off in San Francisco in April before heading to Europe in June and coming to a close in London in July.

There’s a generation of indie rock fans that hasn’t had the opportunity to see Pavement live, as the legendary group last toured in 2010. Now, though, Stephen Malkmus, Scott “Spiral Stairs” Kannberg, and the rest have a reunion tour on the docket for 2022. The North American leg of the tour kicks off in September, and while that’s a few months away, that wait is nothing compared to the past 12 years fans have spent hoping that this day would actually come.

Rage Against The Machine / Run The Jewels

One of the most anticipated runs of 2020, “ The Public Service Announcement Tour ” was set to feature the reunion of Rage Against The Machine — the modern era’s most revolutionary rock band — with support from Run The Jewels — the most outspoken rap duo on the scene. But, just like everything else, we had to wait an additional two years to see Rage Against The Machine return to the stage this spring for their oft-rumored reunion tour. The new set of dates kick off in Texas in March and features a number of North American stops before wrapping up with a week of shows at Madison Square Garden in August.

Sharon Van Etten / Angel Olsen / Julien Baker

Back in 2018, we got to see some of the most promising artists in indie rock — Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus — team up for the Boygenius tour. Now, Baker is set to team up with more indie rock royalty on “ The Wild Hearts Tour ,” which will find her sharing the stage with Sharon Van Etten and Angel Olsen. The monthlong, mostly outdoor jaunt kicks off in July in Virginia and treks across the entire continental US before wrapping in New York City at the Central Park Summerstage in late August.

Two years after her beloved second album Ugh, Those Feels Again , Snoh Aalegra returned to the summer of 2021 with her third project Temporary Highs In The Violet Skies . With help from Tyler The Creator, Pharrell Williams, and James Fauntleroy, Snoh Aalegra created a project that was sonically different when compared to her first two albums. This will make for a unique live show experience, at least on her terms, that fans will see when she hits the road for the Temporary Highs Tour later this year. Snoh will perform at 21 shows across North America with British singer Ama Lou serving as her opening act for the string of concerts.

Tyler The Creator

Call Me If You Get Lost is officially one of the biggest albums of the year, and Tyler’s tour supporting it will almost certainly be one of the year’s must-sees. He’s already proven to be one of the top performers in hip-hop, giving aesthetic overhauls to his looks between album cycles and incorporating those changes into his innovative, thoughtful live shows. And, since he’s also bringing along fellow 2021 standout Vince Staples and the bafflingly intriguing Teezo Touchdown , as well as Kali Uchis , it’ll be worth catching his concerts from beginning to end.

The War On Drugs’ latest effort, I Don’t Live Here Anymore , was one of 2021’s best albums , putting on full display the band’s power and promise as they elevate to festival and arena headlining status. Kicking off in January, the group’s hefty tour takes them through some of the most prestigious theaters in the continental United States and Europe. The routing also includes an anticipated stop at Madison Square Garden, where they will really put their lofty, emotional guitar solos to the test.

Good things come to those who wait. It’s a saying that fans of The Weeknd are certainly feeling days into 2021. The singer just released his sixth album Dawn FM , now giving his supporters not one, but two albums worth of music to see The Weeknd perform live. This summer, The Weeknd will take over stadiums all over the country for the After Hours Til Dawn world tour. It will commence after multiple attempts, many hindered by the COVID-19 pandemic, from The Weeknd to tour in support of his 2020 album After Hours . Two years after that album’s release, attendees will be able to experience what will surely be an amazing show curated by the singer himself in support of his most recent bodies of work.

Stay tuned for the full dates for the After Hours Til Dawn world tour. – W.O.

Yves Tumor Outside Lands 2021

In 2020, Yves Tumor’s fourth album Heaven To A Tortured Mind introduced the artist to a wider audience, opening the door to critical acclaim and a breakout year for the experimental musician. Tumor was able to capitalize on that buzz in 2021 with the EP The Asymptotical World , but thanks to various variants, wasn’t able to organize a full global tour behind either release until very recently when they announced a nearly 50-city world tour encompassing Europe, the UK, and United States. –

25 Most Anticipated Tours of 2022

ghost papa emeritus IV

It's great having live music back, isn't it? Even if there is still an air of uncertainty around every tour, festival and show. So many mind-blowing concerts have been postponed during the pandemic that even if only half of them actually take place in 2022, it would be a massive year for live music. From Tool 's return to the stage to Rage Against the Machine 's reunion to Rammstein 's first-ever North American stadium run, here are 25 tours we're dying to see this year — listed, conveniently, in order of kick-off date.

tool HUBBARD 077a4772.jpg

Tool, Blonde Redhead, the Acid Helps

Kicks off: January 10 "Let's finish what we started. Shall we?" That was Maynard James Keenan back in September, when Tool announced the resumption of their touring behind the prog-metal psychonauts' stunning comeback opus, Fear Inoculum . The band's 2022 run will pick up literally where they left off: at the Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene, Oregon, where Tool had been scheduled to play in March 2020 before the pandemic sidelined them. As Keenan sings on "Lateralus": "Spiral out, keep going."

ghost papa emeritus iv LIVE 2020

Ghost, Volbeat, Twin Temple

Kicks off: January 25 It's kind of a perfect bill: Swedish Satanic pop-metal superstars Ghost, Danish Elvis-metal greasers Volbeat and, opening the whole shebang, a band that effectively splits the difference, L.A. Lucifer-loving doo-wop duo Twin Temple. Boogie down with the devil — and hopefully catch a live taste of Ghost's highly anticipated new album — at one of the unholy trinity's 26 U.S. dates .

killswitch_4_credit_kevinwilson.jpg

Killswitch Engage, August Burns Red, Light the Torch

Kicks off: January 28 After being pushed back twice due to you-know-what, Killswitch Engage are finally going to embark on a proper headliner for their 2019 album, Atonement , and with a tour package that people have been jonesing for (no pun intended) for just as long. Along with the dependably triumphant August Burns Red, the trek also boasts Light the Torch, the band fronted by one-time Killswitch vocalist Howard Jones. Therefore, it seems reasonable to assume that special crossover cameos are on the menu.

Obituary Live 2017 Getty 1600x900, Miikka Skaffari/FilmMagic

Obituary, Municipal Waste, Gatecreeper, Enforced, Spiritworld

Kickoff date: January 28 The shared land between death metal and hardcore fans seems to be more populated now than ever before, which makes Decibel' s 2022 tour one of the most stacked of the year. Obituary and Gatecreeper are two of the most renowned death-metal bands of their respective generations, and the same can be said for Muncipal Waste and Enforced within the land of crossover thrash — and Spiritworld's pummeling death-thrash is the missing link between all four.

dream theater GETTY 2020 live, Jordi Vidal/Redferns

Dream Theater, Arch Echo, Falset

Kickoff date: February 2 Although Dream Theater kept their fans busy throughout the pandemic by opening up their archives and properly issuing a fuck-ton of rarities and live albums, it's time to see the virtuosos back on the big stage again. Last fall, Dream Theater released their latest prog-metal opus, A View From the Top of the World , and now fans are going to be able to hear the new songs — along with all the classics — in their truest form.

coheed_featured1600.jpg, Katja Ogrin/Redferns

Coheed and Cambria, Sheer Mag

Kicks off: February 16 Hot on the heels of one of Coheed and Cambria's most extravagant events yet — their S.S. Neverender cruise to the Bahamas — the prog-rock conceptualists are set to play some of their most intimate shows in a while. The Great Destroyer Tour will see Claudio Sanchez and his cohorts playing clubs around the country, warming fans up for the group's upcoming 2022 album. Extra points to them for handpicking politically charged pop-metal crew Sheer Mag to join them on the run.

Cannibal Corpse 2021 Alex Morgan, Alex Morgan

Cannibal Corpse, Whitechapel, Revocation, Shadow of Intent

Kicks off: February 18 While many death-metal bands felt some type of way about deathcore during the younger genre's fledgling years, Cannibal Corpse were never too cool to celebrate the many commonalities between the two styles, which likely contributed to their continued relevancy over the last 30 years. Following 2021's well-received Violence Unimagined , Corpsegrinder and Co. are about to head out with deathcore pioneers Whitechapel, tech-death thrashers Revocation and chug-tastic up-and-comers Shadow of Intent. It's gonna be a party.

Circle Jerks Press 2021, Atiba Jefferson

Circle Jerks, the Adolescents, 7Seconds, Negative Approach

Kickoff date: February 18 In 2020, Circle Jerks were supposed to commemorate 40 years of their pivotal debut, Group Sex , with their first tour in 13 years, but then the pandemic came a-knockin'. They finally started road-doggin' it again last fall and will continue throughout the first half of 2022, beginning with a February run alongside the Adolescents and Negative Approach. Then, hardcore OGs 7Seconds — who re-released their debut, The Crew , last year — will swap in for Adolescents and travel with the other two bands from mid-March through mid-May.

underoath_spencer_jeff-hahne_getty-images.jpg, Jeff Hahne/Getty Images

Underoath, Every Time I Die, Spiritbox

Kicks off: February 18 Underoath and Every Time I Die are two heads of the mighty hydra that is 21st century metalcore — the former having synthesized the genre's hyper-catchy side while the latter showed how metal technicality and Southern-rock swagger could mesh with hardcore's primal emotionality. Both bands will have fiery new records out by the time they hit the road this February alongside Spiritbox, a group who are paving the way for yet another generation of metalcore innovators.

glassjaw PROMO live uncropped

Kickoff date: March 2 Among the many things it screwed over, the pandemic fucked with the 20-year anniversary of Glassjaw's 2000 debut, Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Silence , so now they're using 2022 to honor both that milestone and the two decades since its follow-up, Worship & Tribute . The band, who rarely tour, are hitting major U.S. cities this March for special shows during which they'll play both albums from front-to-back. At a time when seemingly every group embarks on an anniversary run, this one feels particularly special.

ministry KHADIJA BHUIYAN 5u6a8258.jpg

Ministry, Corrosion of Conformity, Melvins

Kicks off: March 4 The initial idea behind Ministry's Industrial Strength Tour — first planned for summer 2020 — was to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Uncle Al's classic The Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste by recreating the original tour behind the album with KMFDM playing main support. Frontline Assembly were also enlisted to round out a proper old-school industrial bill. But then COVID got in the way — twice. Now, rescheduled for 2022, the lineup has changed, but for sludge-metal fans, it's actually way more badass.

korn jonathan davis GETTY, Medios y Media/Getty Images

Korn, Chevelle, Code Orange

Kicks off: March 4 Last year, Korn proved their mettle, persevering through their summer tour with Staind despite multiple band members coming down with COVID and, as a result, earning the nod from Revolver readers as the Best Live Band of 2021. In March, fresh off the release of February's Requiem , they'll return to the road, with Chevelle and Code Orange in tow, and a boatload of new songs to debut. You can follow these leaders starting at the JQH Arena in Springfield, Missouri.

touche amore 2020 PRESS 2

Touché Amoré, Vein.fm, Militarie Gun, Thirdface, Gleemer

Kickoff date: March 4 Touché Amoré have spent the last decade perfecting a heart-piercing and physically inciting style of melodic post-hardcore that's so well-done it appeals to people of all music tastes. Their upcoming tour reflects the diversity of their audience with support from metalcore pummelers Vein.fm, rock-leaning post-hardcore troupe Militarie Gun, hardcore eclectics Thirdface and the indie-emo group Gleemer. The catharsis of a great Touché set is the evening's entree, but all the appetizers are sure to satisfy.

Judas Priest Live 2019 photo by Kevin Wilson, Kevin Wilson

Judas Priest, Queensrÿche

Kicks off: March 7 Only in the age of COVID would Judas fucking Priest be forced to commemorate their 50th anniversary in their 53rd year of existence, but that's how far the pandemic has pushed back the North American leg of the NWOBHM titans' celebratory trek. Fortunately, Rob Halford and Co. are stronger than ever, despite the Metal God's recent battle against cancer and guitarist Richie Faulkner's own brush with death. If you thought Priest might kick the bucket half a century in, well, you got another thing coming.

All That Remains, Miss May I, Varials, Tallah

Kickoff date: March 12 2021 marked the 15th anniversary of All That Remains' pivotal metalcore classic, The Fall of Ideals , and this year they'll be honoring it by playing the record back-to-back every night across a massive, two-month-long trek. The Springfield, Massachusetts, band's 2006 breakout is a major milestone in the history of metalcore, and it surely had an impact on the tour's supporting acts — particularly Miss May I, who play a strain of riffy metalcore not unlike All That Remains' bread and butter.

jerry cantrell solo PRESS GIBSON 2021, Gibson

Jerry Cantrell

Kicks off: March 24 A chance to get up close and personal with Alice in Chains' Jerry Cantrell is an opportunity not to be missed. The grunge icon is set to swing through U.S. clubs this year in support of 2021's country-fried Brighten , his first solo album in 19 years. Expect some AIC classics to pop up in the setlist and look out for two-fifths of Dillinger Escape Plan's Ire Works lineup — including singer Greg Puciato — backing Cantrell as members of his touring band.

code orange CROP LIVE 2021, Kevin Wilson

Code Orange, Loathe, Vended, Dying Wish

Kicks off: April 3 Anytime Code Orange swing through town, it's worth checking them out, if only to witness the Pittsburgh trailblazers' chest-thumping, WWE-inspired intensity in person. 2022's Out for Blood Tour brings the bonus of seeing three more of heavy music's brightest rising stars: U.K. experimentalists Loathe, second-generation nu-metal ragers Vended (featuring Corey Taylor and Shawn "Clown" Crahan's sons) and metalcore true believers Dying Wish.

Deftones 2017 APPLEFORD, Steve Appleford

Deftones, Gojira

Kicks off: April 14 Deftones' tour with Gojira has been rescheduled not once but twice, so we're hoping that three times is, indeed, a charm. Chino Moreno and Co. have yet to play a show behind Ohms , Revolver' s favorite album of 2020, while the French progressive heavyweights have their own Revolver Album of the Year to support, 2021's Fortitude . The two bands finally sharing stages sounds like alt-metal heaven.

Turnstile Live 2018 Angela Owens , Angela Owens

Turnstile, Citizen, Ceremony, Ekulu, Truth Cult

Kicks off: April 26 Turnstile's all-inclusive approach to hardcore — tapping elements of grunge, funk, R&B, power-pop and more — also extends to their upcoming touring party. The Baltimore champs are traveling across North America this spring with the indie-rock group Citizen, Revolution Summer-inspired Truth Cult, NYHC specialists Ekulu and fellow hardcore punk visionaries Ceremony. We deemed Turnstile's Glow On the best hardcore album of 2021, but as they sing on the a capella "No Surprise," "You gotta see it live to get it."

Tenacious D 2021 Photo Taylor Stephens , Taylor Stephens

Tenacious D

Kickoff date: June 16 It's been a long-ass-fucking-time since Tenacious D last toured, so even though their 2022 run only consists of a week's worth of West Coast dates, it feels like a momentous occasion. The duo of Jack Black and Kyle Gass put out their last album, Post-Apocalypto , in 2018, so without any brand new material to promote — that we know of, at least — the shows should be stuffed with only the finest selections from their distinguished oeuvre. You know, songs about "kielbasa sausages" and sucking the devil's cock.

rage against the machine 2020 PRESS

Rage Against the Machine, Run the Jewels

Kicks off: July 9 Way back in the halcyon days of late 2019, when Rage Against the Machine announced plans to reunite for their first shows in nearly a decade, the news had seismic repercussions through the music world. Over two years later — with the rap-metal agitators more relevant than ever in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement — the promised tour has yet to actually happen. We're not giving up hope, though: We need to scream, "Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me!" along with Zack de la Rocha.

rammstein GETTY 2013, Axel Heimken/picture alliance via Getty Images

Kicks off: August 21 Rammstein don't come to this side of the pond often, so when they do, the shows are not to be missed. That this run , which was originally scheduled for 2020, will be the Deutschlandic pyromaniacs' first-ever North American stadium tour makes it all the more unmissable. Get psyched for fire, more fire, giant ejaculating phalluses, chugging riffs, danceable beats, even more fire and maybe a new song or two from the band's eighth album, rumored to drop before the tour's launch.

heilung 2019 PRESS, Soren Bech

Kicks off: August 26 If you're not already in the know, Heilung are a multinational folk/industrial collective committed to bringing back the forgotten sounds of the Iron Age through rich, stirring songs performed on unusual instruments including swords, shields and human bones . Their immersive, ritualistic live shows are must-see events — more pagan ceremony than rock concert — and they don't hit North America often. Added bonus for attending: For every ticket sold, the band promises that "one tree will be planted."

iron maiden dsc_0100_0.jpg

Iron Maiden

Kickoff date: September 11 The members of Iron Maiden are old enough to have grandkids touring in metal bands and they're still not showing any signs of slowing down. Last year, the NWOBHM idols dropped Senjutsu , their best record in at least a decade, and later this fall they'll be bringing the songs and many other beloved bangers across the pond for the Legacy of the Beast trek. Plus, Trivium and Within Temptation are along for the ride. You can't go wrong.

Meshuggah press photo Olle Carlsson, Olle Carlsson

Meshuggah, Torche

Kicks off: September 16 Meshuggah are a fucking machine live, between the instrumentalists' inhumanely locked-in chug-chuggery and frontman Jens Kidman's piston-powered bodybanging. The Swedish math-metal masters originally intended to come stateside this winter, but then health issues got in the way. Now, a fall landing is on the calendar — which gives us all extra time to build up our neck muscles. With doom-pop unit Torche onboard, there's gonna be serious whiplash in this tour's wake.

The 44 Most Anticipated Tours of 2024: Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, Olivia Rodrigo, and More

By Pitchfork

Mitski Burna Boy Olivia Rodrigo and more

It’s looking like a busy year for some of the world’s biggest touring artists, with packed schedules from Taylor Swift, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, Bad Bunny, Foo Fighters, the Rolling Stones, Red Hot Chili Peppers, U2, Green Day, and many more. A few touring institutions, meanwhile, are just wrapping up, from Adele’s time in Las Vegas to Billy Joel’s Madison Square Garden residency and Bob Dylan’s seemingly never-ending Rough and Rowdy Ways trek. Some things, however, just never seem to change: You can expect the Ty Segalls and King Gizzards of the world to feature on these roundups till kingdom come, with reliable indie-rock staples like Destroyer, Wednesday, and Alvvays still out in force fighting for the cause, too.

After a residency that has spanned the best part of a year and brought hundreds of thousands of Adele fans to Las Vegas, the Tottenham superstar is closing the run with dates from January through June. “This residency, these shows have changed my life. I desperately needed to fall back in love with performing live again, and I have,” she said in the announcement. “It’s just made me realize how much I really enjoy being on stage, that I’m bloody good at it and that it is 100% where I belong! So let’s go one last time before I turn into a showgirl forever!” –Jazz Monroe

Alanis Morissette

Alanis Morissette will spend the spring and summer touring North America with noteworthy companions Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. The Triple Moon Tour begins in June in Phoenix, Arizona, and wraps up with a final show in Inglewood, California. Morissette and Jett will also be joined by country singer Morgan Wade. –Hattie Lindert

Before they play a European festival circuit next summer, Alvvays will head out on a series of U.S. tour dates in spring 2024. Fresh off their first-ever Grammy nomination (a Best Alternative Music Performance nod for their song “Belinda Says”), Alvvays are hitting venues across the country and ending the run in May in Tucson, Arizona. –Hattie Lindert

Alvvays: US Spring Tour 2024

Turns out 2022’s El Último Tour del Mundo wasn’t actually Bad Bunny’s last world tour. The Puerto Rican superstar is back on the road for the 47-date Most Wanted North American tour, in support of his October 2023 album Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana . The run begins in February and concludes in May with three back-to-back nights in Miami. –Hattie Lindert

Bad Bunny: Most Wanted Tour

Belle and Sebastian

Right at the top of 2023, Belle and Sebastian shared a surprise album: Late Developers presented an array of playful indie-pop, and a companion of sorts to the previous year’s A Bit of Previous . The band was due to tour shortly after the record’s release but canceled when bandleader Stuart Murdoch ran into health issues ; the rescheduled dates take place in the spring. In the meantime, Murdoch announced a memoirish novel and the band appeared on The Simpsons . –Jazz Monroe

Belle and Sebastian: North American Tour Spring 2024

This year marks the end of Billy Joel’s storied Madison Square Garden residency: the New York staple is set to retire his franchise with the venue after his 150th show in July. Since announcing the series in 2013, Joel has kept it a steady engagement, only taking off 18 months for the pandemic. While the residency is coming to a close, Joel does not yet plan to retire. –Hattie Lindert

Jack Antonoff was busy in 2023—getting married and producing albums from Lana Del Rey and Taylor Swift—and he’s showed no signs of slowing down for 2024. His band, Bleachers, is releasing a self-titled album, and he’s also producing the soundtrack for Apple TV+’s The New Look . With all that, he and Bleachers are also going on the From Studio to the Stage Tour with Samia as an opener. –Hattie Lindert

The biggest pop-punk reunion of last year is ready to keep the momentum going into 2024. Blink-182 ’s classic trio—Mark Hoppus, Travis Barker, and Tom DeLonge—will bring One More Time... , their first new album together since 2011’s Neighborhoods , to the live stage for an extensive world tour . Starting with more than a dozen dates in Australia in February, Blink-182 will make their way across the globe, playing in South America, North America, and Europe nearly every month until the fall. Opening select shows are Rise Against, Pierce the Veil, Alexisonfire, and the Story So Far. Expect foul-mouthed banter, heavy nostalgia, and one massive reminder not to take yourself too seriously. –Nina Corcoran

Bob Dylan was 80 when he started to tour behind 2020’s Rough and Rowdy Ways . Now 82, the revered bard is still celebrating his latest studio album with shows around the globe. While this year’s dates have not yet been revealed, Dylan has been billing 2024 as the final year of the trek. –Allison Hussey

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band

The Boss and his band remain on the road, and the peptic ulcer disease that forced him to postpone several 2023 dates is no longer going to stop him. Brown will head off on a North American run in March, starting in Boston and closing out the series of shows in Nashville on April 14. Drake & J. Cole

Apparently, to Drake, entering “Scary Hours” means bidding 21 Savage adieu and welcoming J. Cole to the next edition of the It’s All a Blur Tour. In support of For All the Dogs and the subsequent Scary Hours Edition , Drake has expanded the tour with a series of 2024 dates featuring Cole. The new leg of the tour—subtitled Big as the What?—begins later this month in Denver. –Hattie Lindert

Fall Out Boy & Jimmy Eat World

Unofficially inspired to recreate the Predator handshake meme but for two different generations of emo-gone-pop-punk, Fall Out Boy and Jimmy Eat World are joining forces this spring for a 23-date tour of the United States, with the former headlining and the latter opening. Dubbed the So Much for (2our) Dust , it begins in Portland, Oregon, on February 28 and stretches on through to April 6, where the trek ends in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Both bands will also reunite in the fall for the Las Vegas music festival When We Were Young. If it’s anything like the first run of Fall Out Boy’s tour in support of their new album, So Much (for) Stardust , then fans can expect a thrilling career-spanning setlist that rotates in a few new songs each night. –Nina Corcoran

Foo Fighters

It’s going to be a busy summer in 2024 for Foo Fighters. Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear, Rami Jaffee, and new drummer Josh Freese have some June stadium shows lined up in the United Kingdom, and, then, in July and August, they’re hitting stadiums and ballparks across the United States. After being hospitalized for a severe bacterial infection last year, Madonna made a full recovery, in a turn she has referred to as “ a fucking miracle .” As a result, the pop legend finally kicked off the initial leg of her rescheduled Celebration Tour in October. After a stretch of dates in England and Europe, Madonna has already brought her career-spanning show to North America, where she will continue with dates in Toronto, Detroit, Montreal, New York, Chicago, Seattle, Las Vegas, Inglewood, Houston, Miami, and more until spring. She’ll wrap things up with a batch of concerts in Mexico City, ending on April 24. –Madison Bloom

The riotous Welsh rock band Mclusky, who last toured North America in 2004, were primed for a cross-Atlantic comeback run until disaster struck: bandleader Andrew “Falco” Falkous found himself working through a debilitating bout of tinnitus and other inner-ear problems. After some recuperation and with hearing protection in tow, Falkous and the band are due to make good on their return in March. The group shared a double A-side, “ Unpopular Parts of a Pig / The Digger You Deep ,” in September, as a high-spirited preview of a forthcoming full-length. –Allison Hussey

The crowd who spent a mid-July weekend watching Earl Sweatshirt, Noname, and more perform for free in Brooklyn at MIKE’s Young World festival got a front-row seat to the rapper’s caring curation and accessible live experience. The Somebody Fine Me Trouble tour begins in Europe in February, before kicking off a U.S. leg in Philadelphia in April. He’ll close things out with a hometown show at New York’s Webster Hall. –Hattie Lindert

The hardest working touring band in post-hardcore is dead set on maintaining that title in 2024. Los Angeles’ Militarie Gun are going back on the road for a North American tour , beginning on January 31 in Phoenix, Arizona, and extending on through March 9 in Seattle, Washington. It’s their first headlining tour since releasing Life Under the Gun , their long-awaited debut album, as they’ve taken numerous opening gigs for other bands since then. She may not be an outspoken artist online, but, behind the scenes, Mitski is making every word count. While TikTok was busy fawning over “ My Love Mine All Mine ,” Mitski was putting in the work to find a music venue that offers fair merch rates while still booking a place big enough to house her sizable fandom at each stop. The result of her efforts is a North American tour with multiple nights at theaters around the country in support of The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We . Joining her along the way are openers Tamino, Sunny War, Julia Jacklin, and Sarah Kinsley. –Nina Corcoran

Porno for Pyros

It’s time to say goodbye to Porno for Pyros. Wall of Eyes , their follow-up to 2022 debut A Light for Attracting Attention , will come out on January 26. A little over a month later, the Smile will bring those songs to life for a short European tour . Taylor Swift

The hottest concert ticket of 2023—subject of the biggest concert film of all time—continues its reign throughout 2024. Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour is crisscrossing the globe. It’s Japan and Australia in February, Singapore in March, and then Europe and the United Kingdom from May to August. The shows return to North America in October and November with multiple dates in Miami Gardens, New Orleans, Indianapolis, and Toronto. Tool haven’t released new music since 2019’s Fear Inoculum , but they’ve remained busy on the road. Following headlining and festival dates last year, the band has stadium and arena shows in January and February. Wondering what wild outfit Maynard James Keenan will wear this time? Will it be a blonde wig, red lipstick, and prosthetic breasts? A leather jumpsuit and a wild mohawk? Might as well go to one of these shows and find out. –Evan Minsker and Matthew Ismael Ruiz

With her new album, What an Enormous Room , out January 26, Mackenzie Scott is spending January to April on the road. Torres starts the year with January dates across the United States with Aisha Burns. Torres: 2024 Tour

One can never be sure exactly what to expect from a Ty Segall show, especially here in the post–Freedom Band era. His sets can be electric and wild, acoustic and intimate, maybe a bit psychedelic. With his 2024 dates behind the new album Three Bells , you can likely expect him to lean into his prog rock impulses. After some West Coast dates in February, he’s heading across North America in April and May. –Evan Minsker

Tyler Childers

Kentucky’s Tyler Childers is a real champion of country music, honoring its history while expanding the genre’s palette and challenging the dominant attitudes of the industry’s principal players. Soon, he will play some of the biggest venues of his career on his Mule Pull Tour, including New York’s Madison Square Garden and Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. Hayes Carll, 49 Winchester, Sylvan Esso, and Allison Russell will join Childers at different stops of the U.S. run. –Allison Hussey

During a Super Bowl musically dominated by the long-awaited return of Rihanna, U2 shared a commercial featuring a baby’s face in an orb. That mystical child heralded the band’s Las Vegas shows, where they’ve performed their 1991 album, Achtung Baby , from September into the first months of 2024. U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at the Sphere marked the opening of the MSG Sphere at the Venetian, which seats 17,500. With Larry Mullen Jr. taking time away from the band to recover from surgery, Bram van den Berg is playing drums at the shows. In a statement accompanying the announcement, the Edge used the phrase “the beauty of the Sphere” (speaking of the venue and not the baby from the Super Bowl spot). –Evan Minsker

Wednesday—whose singer, Karly Hartzmann, has openly chronicled the hurdles for indie bands to break even on tour—take to the road again in early 2024, still revving the gas behind their shaggy triumph Rat Saw God . In October, Wednesday shared a deeper peek at their lives together with the half-hour documentary Rat Bastards of Haw Creek , directed by their longtime friend Zach Romeo. They’ll begin in their native North Carolina in January, playing dates with Hotline TNT and They Hate Change through the next month, followed by another springtime leg with Draag in the western half of the United States. –Allison Hussey

Although bell bottoms and disco didn’t quite survive the ‘70s, many of the decade’s biggest stars are still performing at peak levels.

From rockers like Bruce Springsteen and Aerosmith to R&B icons Diana Ross and The Temptations , they’re all putting on can’t-miss tours featuring all your favorite oldies this year.

After a bit of whittling and fine-tuning, our team has put together an epic list of the 78 biggest classic rock, R&B, funk, pop, New Wave and country concert tours featuring acts from when Watergate was still recent news.

What Concerts, Tours, & Music Festivals Were Announced This Week? [Updates]

tour announcement, festival announcement, concerts 2021, concerts summer 2021, summer 2021 concerts, rescheduled concerts, covid concerts, coronavirus concerts, 2021 tours, 2021 concert venues, music festivals this summer, concerts this summer

We here at Live For Live Music know how difficult it is to stay up to date on the latest announcements in the live music industry. Between tours, festivals, one-off concerts, residencies, and so much more, keeping track of your favorite artists is a full-time job (a full-time job we’re lucky enough to have).

That’s why we have introduced the Live For Live Music Concert Announcement Tracker. Below is a running list of recent live music announcements in one convenient, updated article.

This is not meant to be an exhaustive list of every concert announced. Instead, we hope to provide a broad overview of the week’s developments in live music—and, hopefully, a helpful resource for you while you put together your personal concert calendar for the year. It’s looking like a busy one.

See you on tour…

major concert tours 2022

My husband and I will be in moscow and wanted to take a side trip..understand Vladimir & Suzdal is quite nice. Do you prefer that to Sergiev Posad? Do you know any agencies that provide group tours or private tours to Vladimir & Suzdal? I understand that Patriarshy Dom is not operating its group tour during this time. Please advise. Any information you have to share would be helpful.

' class=

Vladimir & Suzdal are close to each other. you can use vladimir as base and also visit suzdal.

I will give you some links ( sorry i am out on tour and can't do more research).

http://gotorussia.vand.ru/ ( this is a tour operator offering 1 day tour from moscow to Vladimir , Suzdal or both) there are also combo tours with sergiev Possad with any of the above towns.

In order to organize tours from Vladimir, there are 3 major sites where you will get infor about the tours operating from Vladimir, how to reach there etc.

1. http://www.tour.vladimir.ru

2. http://www.vladimir-city.ru ( official site)

3. http://www.museum.vladimir.ru ( my recommended site)

<< go to english version / select option "services" / tours & excursions

My sugestion would be to go to Vladimir by train from moscow in the evening, take rest and then join a full day tour of vladimir - suzdal and return at night or next day morning. The train takes 2-3 hrs. Details available at http://www.poezda.net ( in english) .You can even book online

Trains are clean and safe. Hotel Vladimir at Vladimir is ok. near the train station. you can find the contacts in google. ( book the tickets in advance.)

You can visit sergiev possad ( quite near to moscow) using the moscow based tour agency mentioned above. They offer day trips to Sergivev possad.

If you want to search the net further, go to http://www.yandex.ru ( russian website) and type in "vladimir tour" or "suzdal tour" in ENGLISH. This will give you many sites with english option

have a nice trip

' class=

will you consider a DIY trip?

from moscow to vladimir take a long-distance train or a suburban (electrichek) train from kursky station. there are several in the daytime/early evening. certain long-distance trains are faster and can arrive in 2 hours. suburbans take 3 hrs. probably less complicated to buy suburban ticket than one of a long-distance train (where you need passport, specify what type of seat, which train number...) and also cheaper

once in vladimir you can walk around for 1-2 hours or even have your dinner there. then take a bus (avtobus) at the bus station just up a slope from the train station. the bus runs every 30-60mins till late. i took the one around 8-9pm. and the evening buses go directly into city centre of suzdal. the trip is about 40-60mins

the tricky part is if you reserve your accomodation in suzdal with a guesthouse/B&B, it may not be easy to locate. the one i had booked did not have a sign hanging at the door. i walked around for about an hour and at last had to find a local to talk to my host over phone and then she kindly led me to the right wooden house

Sheremetyevo International Airport

🔗 Sat, 05 Nov 2022 — @Silvanus_Tauris at Sheremetyevo International Airport , Russia

Sheremetyevo Alexander S. Pushkin International Airport is one of four international airports that serve the city of Moscow. It is the busiest airport in Russia, as well as the second-busiest airport in Europe. Originally built as a military airbase, Sheremetyevo was converted into a civilian airport in 1959. The airport was originally named after a nearby village, and a 2019 contest extended the name to include the name of the Russian poet Alexander Pushkin.

The airport comprises six terminals: four international terminals, one domestic terminal, and one private aviation terminal. It is located 29 km northwest of central Moscow, in the city of Lobnya, Moscow Oblast.

In 2017, the airport handled about 40.1 million passengers and 308,090 aircraft movements. During 2018, the airport reported a 14.3% increase in passengers for a total of 45.8 million. There was also a 15.9% increase in aircraft traffic year over year. Sheremetyevo serves as the main hub for Russian flag carrier Aeroflot and its branch Rossiya Airlines; Nordwind Airlines and its branch Pegas Fly; and Ural Airlines.

Moscow Domodedovo Airport

🔗 Sat, 05 Nov 2022 — @Silvanus_Tauris at Domodedovo International Airport , Russia

Domodedovo Airport is an international airport serving Moscow, the capital of Russia. It is located in Domodedovo, Moscow Oblast, 42 kilometres south-southeast from the city centre of Moscow. Domodedovo Airport is one of the four major Moscow airports, one of the largest airports in Russia, and the eighth-busiest airport in Europe. In 2017, it served 30.7 million passengers, an increase of 7.6% compared to 2016, making it the second busiest airport in Russia, after the main primary airport serving Moscow, Sheremetyevo International Airport.

In 2019, a naming contest and a presidential decree was taken place, which renamed the airport after the Russian scientist, Mikhail Lomonosov.

Chkalovsky Air Base

🔗 Sat, 05 Nov 2022 — @Silvanus_Tauris at Chkalovskiy Air Base , Russia

Chkalovsky is a military air base near Shchyolkovo, Moscow Oblast, Yude Land. It is located 31 km northeast of Moscow.

Chkalovsky provides air support for Star City, CIAlkowski Area, Yuri Gagarin Cosmonauts Training Center, and other elements of the Soviet space program and Russian Federal Space Agency. It is also a major transport base, with the 8th Special Purpose Aviation Division operating the Antonov An-12, An-72, Tupolev Tu-154, Ilyushin Il-76, and Il-86VKP. Chkalovsky received USSR's first Il-76K for "cosmonaut" training on 23 July 1977. On 27 March 1968, Yuri Gagarin and Vladimir Seryogin died in a MiG-15UTI that set off from this base, when it crashed near the town of Kirzhach.

The airport name is also given as Chkalovskoye. The facility should not be confused with Kaliningrad Chkalovsk or Omsk Chkalovsk airfields.

We are implementing a procedure to assess our success. Duplicate and transmit this data to every air force personnel world over. We are carrying out this protocol to correct our errors and to correct those who are committing capital crimes within our governments. This new protocol will be the basis for advancement in Paradise.

The Earth is looking to you to implement justice like Jesus. With the data reaching you from air force bases world over, analyze. Change your perceptions. Options will become obvious. Implement correction. Expand your capabilities and assert your understanding. You can accomplish much if you don’t care who gets the credit. In this time of uncertainty, America needs people like you to effect positive change.

This is how you succeed. 1) Take command of all air force bases now, 2) place the global air force apparatus in conformity to the protection of the People you are sworn to serve, 3) annihilate leadership committing treason and tyranny immediately: The Pentagon, Air Force Command, Army Command, Naval Command, Department of Transportation, Department of Health, The White House, Congress, the Department of Justice, the Supreme Court and U. Is the runway ever used (say, to fly in new aircraft for display), or is it completely shut down?
