Top 3 airlines serving from Perth to Sydney

Very good experience, considering the short flight the meals were served promptly after takeoff.

X class seats in row 3 with the new configuration are very poor in fact I feel 3B and 3E should no longer be considered as X class seat as there is no forward seat pocket available to these seats and greatly reduced leg room due the intrusion of the business class armrests/table module

It was pretty good. Everyone friendly. Like all airlines, the draconian limitations on baggage and weight and not giving even a free soda kind of drags down the experience a bit.

Last 10 minutes boarding they canceled the flight and didn’t organise anything

Estheticly the plane looks great, although the seats are way too upright. If the seats were just slightly more reclined then the comfort level would increase tenfold. I had the stiffest neck after just a short flight due to this. A nap was almost out of the question.

Cabin crew were very professional and welcoming. They certainly appeared to have lifted their game. Congratulations

I know not directly a Virgin "thing" but I hold Virgin responsible for their subcontractors. Had to wait 45 minutes waiting for baggage at PER before the belt conveyor even started. This is unacceptable and hopefully Virgin engages with whoever to pull their fingers out. I realise PER staff are generally slow at the best of times but this was ridiculous. Maybe more seating for those waiting, a cafe in the baggage area for a light meal while we wait or at the very least a troop of dancing girls to entertain the punters while they stare at the conveyor belt start light almost willing it to fire up.

Very poor. Flight was cancelled due to captain exceeding hours. Told to fend for ourselves for 12 hours until a new flight could be done. This meant overnight accommodation in Hobart. Next plane was delayed and no food onboard. No apologies from Virgin. Extremely disappointing.

Flight was cancelled due to a mechanical fault - Virgin rebooked me on a flight 6 hours later so I cancelled and flew with another carrier

There is no not applicable button to tick. Due to turbulence there was no food/drink offered. That’s expected and was fine 👌🏻

The flight met my expectations. It left and landed on time

My bag didn’t make it but otherwise it was a great experience.

Experience was great. My only advice is to have a pasta dish on the menu. Otherwise everything was excellent.

Flights delayed multiple times, travellers requests for updates ignored. Qantas continues to desatisfy travelling basics.

Better food, hotter coffee, otherwise it was a very smooth and reasonably comfortable flight.

I find the food in business class is just old and boring, it was once good but now just trying to hard to be "on Trend" with plant based for the minority of people, while those people can order a special meal anyway, while the majority have to suffer and loose a choice. only 2 choices for entree one boring plant based and 4 for main which two were seafood, one was plant based and one meat dish.

Packed flight. Urged to check carry-on before boarding only to discover numerous empty overhead bins after boarding. Challenging entertainment screen. After almost 20 minutes to arrive at baggage claim, waited over 30 mins before luggage was loaded on baggage claim carousel.

First flight on Quantas. High marks all around. Plus it appears as if the have a comparatively new flight. Excellent airline!

Flight LA to Sydney was first moved earlier by 2 hrs from 10:25 pm to 8:25pm roughly a week before departure. Then on actual departure date, it was delayed 2x, and needed up leaving close to 10 pm. Then entertainment for the whole flight wasn’t working for most of the seats including ours. The baby crib at the middle isle was being taped to the wall to keep it tacked in using a packing tape while passengers were walking by looking for their seats. Not projecting good confidence. After a few minutes after take off the whole crib fell off. Good the people seating next to it wast hit or got scared. At arrival at Sydney, crew handed the customs forms as we were getting out of the plane. So passengers had to scramble to find a place to fill up the forms along the corridor going to immigration. So no one is available to help from Qantas to fill up the entry forms. Not a very good experience for a flagship carrier.

flight delays seems to be the norm these days. pies with soggy pastry.

Note that food has to be purchased in flight. No free food. And no entertainment in flight. So I’ve treated these two items as okay which, in this case, means neutral/not applicable.

My Dad needed assistance to board the plane. The Jetstar staff were excellent with him and made the experience a lot easier😁

No food taken so can't rate also no entertainment so can't rate.

Boarding was easy and unstressful, though the early "final call" was a bit off-putting. The crew were pleasant, and the seats were comfortable. The prices for food and drink were reasonable, apart from tea and coffee, where simple percolated coffee was charged at espresso prices. Deboarding was OK, though some Jetstar passengers appear to have a bad habit of pushing forward from their assigned rows, making it more difficult to get out for passengers that have paid a premium to sit up-front. Jetstar might want to look to address this to stop it from spreading.

I got to the airport earlier than I expected, and they let me change to an earlier flight with no trouble.

The price difference/saving isn't sufficient to compensate the experience difference, don't recommend unless flight is under 3 hours. Huge queues for check in and the priority lane of other ailines blocked checked in Jetstar passengers from proceeding through to screening. Gate change to a "dungeon gate" that didn't have toilets in the vicinity. 45minute delay in boarding, no updates or explaination, let alone apology for any inconvenience. 1 scanner working for a full fight to board, no coordination. Loaded on to crowded buses to get on the plane in the middle of the tarmac, up stairs with no explaination. 4 bus trips. No system for boarding in sections. Over an hour late departing. Nothing complimentary, not even water or in-flight music. Pay wave not available and no cash sales. Staff onboard were friendly and professional.

It was a super crowded time to travel out of Melbourne, but the flight was OK

Worst experience ever flying Melbourne to Phuket. 5 hours delayed! Didn’t land till 1am in the morning. Staff were rude and unhelpful

Plane was late leaving darwin so we didn’t get home till 1130pm 2nd time in a fortnight that has happened. Hard when you have to work the next day

It may have been a result of earlier issues with a previous plane, causing delays, but the staff were not nearly as smiley as the previous Jetstar flight I was on. Also, they started boarding before the plane was empty...so we moved from one line into another line. They should have just waited until the plane was empty to avoid waiting in two lines.

Travel time from Sydney to Perth

How long does it really take to fly from Sydney to Perth? Here's a sample itinerary for a commercial flight plan. If you want to know the total travel time to reach Perth, you need to include time at the airports. Eventually, you'll be able to customize this itinerary to select other nearby airports and choose your preferred airline.

Tuesday, 1:48 pm :  start in Sydney drive for about 17 minutes most airlines recommend you get to the airport at least 60 minutes before your flight, so arrive by 2:30 pm at the latest

2:20 pm :  get your boarding pass and go through TSA security allow enough time for long security lines during busy travel seasons or holidays, and prepare for the wait time

2:50 pm :  arrive at the gate once you're ready to board, you can get something to eat in the airport or just relax near the gate

3:05 pm :  prepare for boarding check your boarding pass for your group number or listen to the gate agent as they announce boarding, some airlines require you to be in the boarding area 10-15 minutes before departure or risk losing your seat

3:20 pm :  board Jetstar Airways Pty Limited flight you can scroll down to view other airlines that fly this route

3:30 pm :  this is your scheduled departure time but remember flights can be delayed, so take that into account it takes the plane an average of 15 minutes to taxi to the runway

3:45 pm :  wheels up! take-off from SYD fly for about 4.5 hours in the air

6:21 pm (local time) :   Perth International (PER) Perth is 2 hours behind Sydney so the time in Sydney is actually 8:21 pm taxi on the runway for an average of 15 minutes to the gate

6:36 pm (local time) :  arrive at the gate at PER deboard the plane, and claim any baggage if you're renting a car, check if you need to take a shuttle to car rental agency, otherwise you can ride in a cab, limo, or Uber for about 20 minutes to your destination

Total travel time: 7 hours

How far is Perth from Sydney? Here's the quick answer if you have a private jet and you can fly in the fastest possible straight line.

Flight distance: 2,049 miles or 3297 km

Flight time: 4 hours, 36 minutes

Compare this to a whole day of commercial travel with the airports and waiting in line for security, which ends up taking a total of 7 hours, 8 minutes .

Flying private is roughly 1.8x faster , and saves you about 3 hours in your total travel time.

Because of the curvature of the Earth, the shortest distance is actually the "great circle" distance, or "as the crow flies" which is calculated using an iterative Vincenty formula. For a long distance, this appears as a curve on the map, and this is often the route that commercial airlines will take so it's a good estimate of the frequent flyer miles you'll accumulate as well.

This is a fairly long flight, so unless you have a Gulfstream G650 or your own Boeing or Airbus, you might be booking a commercial flight. In that case, your travel time would really need to include how many minutes to get to your local airport, wait for security, board and taxi on the runway, land at the other airport, and get to your destination. The flight itinerary at the top of the page takes into account all these factors to get a more accurate estimate of your actual flight time .

11,000 Miles: Air China Will Operate The World’s Longest 1-Stop Flight

  • Air China will operate the world's longest one-stop flight when it reintroduces flights from Beijing to São Paulo via Madrid.
  • The service will cover a vast distance of 10,926 miles (17,584 km) each way.
  • Flights from China to Brazil will take 25h 55m.

Air China will return to South America in April. This is a significant development in itself. However, it is even more notable given that it will become the world's longest one-stop service. The twice-weekly operation between Beijing Capital and São Paulo will mainly target the large Brazilian Chinese community in the country's most populous city.

The 10 longest one-stop 787 routes

Examining all schedules using Cirium information for May-August 2024 indicates that the following will be the world's longest one-stop, same-plane, and same-flight-number services on Boeing 787 aircraft.

The world's longest one-stop routes, regardless of aircraft type, will be covered another time.

As usual, distances are taken from GCMap . Notice the significant drop-off in the distance after the eighth entry, that only two 787-8 routes made the cut, and the various commencements and resumptions.

Some exciting routes, such as Aeromexico's Mexico City-Monterrey-Seoul and KLM's Amsterdam-Buenos Aires-Santiago, are too short to be included.

The World's 23 Busiest Airports Each Have More Than 1,000 Daily Flights

A look at air china to brazil.

In the past two decades, multiple carriers have had one-stop, same-plane services between Asia and South America. Go back further, and there would have been others. Airlines that operated such routes include:

  • Korean Air (Seoul-Los Angeles-São Paulo)
  • Japan Airlines (Tokyo Narita-New York JFK-São Paulo)
  • Singapore Airlines (Singapore-Barcelona-São Paulo)
  • Malaysia Airlines (Kuala Lumpur-Cape Town-São Paulo)
  • Varig (São Paulo-Los Angeles-Tokyo Narita)

Only Air China has linked China with South America. It began operating via Madrid in December 2006, initially deploying the Boeing 767 on the route, before switching to the Airbus A330-200. The much more fuel-efficient 787-9 appeared in 2017 and ran until the route's inevitable termination due to the pandemic.

Now it is coming back. Running from China and Spain on Thursdays and Sundays, it is scheduled as follows, with all times local. It will provide a very rare daytime service (more or less) from South America to Europe. It will take 25h 55m to reach Brazil and just 22h 25m to reach China.

  • Beijing-Madrid : CA897, 15:00-21:10
  • Madrid-São Paulo : CA897, 23:15-05:55+1
  • São Paulo-Madrid : CA898, 10:05-00:40+1
  • Madrid-Beijing : CA898, 02:40-19:30

542 daily China passengers in 2019

Booking data shows that around 198,000 roundtrip passengers flew between São Paulo and China in 2019 (542 daily). Most people flew via Dubai with Emirates, Doha with Qatar Airways, Madrid with Air China, Addis Ababa with Ethiopian, and Paris CDG with Air France.

Funnily enough, São Paulo-Beijing traffic was only half the volume of São Paulo-Shanghai. But, Beijing Capital is Air China's hub.

If you were planning on booking a flight from Melbourne on March 25 or Sydney and Brisbane on March 28, you may want to consider another date.

According to its analysis of single one-way ticket prices on Skyscanner, the most expensive deals out of Melbourne (any of its three airports) will be to Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and Canberra on March 25, and Hobart and Cairns on March 28.

Melburnians flying to Darwin may want to avoid March 26.

For those flying out of Sydney, March 28 appears to be the most expensive day on average to fly to Adelaide, Perth, Darwin and Cairns, while travellers to Brisbane should watch out for March 13 and travellers to Melbourne may want to reconsider March 21.

Sydney to Hobart deals were most expensive on March 29 and Sydney to Canberra was March 17.

Aussies flying from Brisbane should also consider avoiding March 28 if they are flying to Hobart, Adelaide, Perth or Cairns.

Flights from the Queensland capital to Sydney or Canberra were most expensive on April 1 and flights to Melbourne were the most pricey March 22. For Darwin-bound flights it was March 18.

Compare the Market’s Chris Ford said not only was it most expensive to fly between March 25 and 28 in the lead up to Easter, domestic airport terminals are expected to be at their busiest.

“While Easter is a time that people enjoy spending with their loved ones, it also means there’s increased demand for flights, which is why we see these inflated prices around this period,” he said.

“To make matters worse, it also increases foot traffic at our terminals, which means it can take longer to get through security, check-in baggage and get to your flight on time.

“It’s vital that anyone travelling gives themselves enough time and ensures they’re covered with appropriate travel insurance, even for a domestic trip.”

The cheapest flights are between March 18 and 22 before Easter, and between April 4 to 12. Picture: NCA NewsWire / Nicholas Eagar

In the week leading up to Easter, Mr Ford said their research found flight prices could jump hundreds of dollars.

“There are some significant differences in prices between travelling during the peak Easter period and off-peak times,” he said.

“The exact dollar difference is going to depend, but our research found that there was a $280 difference for someone flying to Adelaide from Brisbane, more than a $250 difference flying between Sydney and Darwin and a whopping $338 if flying to Cairns from Melbourne, at different times.

“Our key message is to get in as early as possible and do your research. There are many tools and comparisons available online that allow you to search for the best deals. But, with so many people snapping up tickets, you need to get in quick if you see a deal.”

Mr Ford said travellers may be able to some cash by opting for an early morning flight or travelling with an airline they may not usually fly with.

Aussie TV presenter and Compare the Market’s travel expert, Catriona Rowntree, warned people to be prepared for the unexpected.

“I have loved ones who had booked a trip to New Zealand and have just learned their flights have been delayed a whole day. It’s completely thrown out their plans,” she said. “If that happens to you, be the squeaky wheel that gets the oil!

“Airports are stressful at this time of the year. Remember that to be early is to be on time, to be on time is to be late and to be late is ‘holy cow we’ve missed the plane.’”
